My thoughts on every new Fortnite Battle Pass skin this season since I am hellenic polytheist ~

Ok, so... I've been a hellenic polytheist (a person who believe and worships the greek gods and follow the philosophy) for almost two years, but I've already started worshipping them a long time ago, just got back and strong last year. And, I'm hyperfocused on Fortnite. If you put them together, you'll guess I'm hyped and crazy about this season. So, I thought I would "rate" and give my thoughts on each battle pass skin, both as a devotee of the greek gods and as a Fortnite fan.

Cerberus

6/10. He is Cerberus. I mean, a big black dog that takes care of underworld gates; it's him. He doesn't really have three heads as some people were complaining (ik he does but it doesn't look like it), but would you really be willing to have a 300% higher chance of gettin headshoted? I don't think so. I'll definitely not use his skin, as I don't like animalistic/animal skins (sorry, furries). But I think he is fine.

Aphrodite

When I tell yall I SCREAMED. 10/10, fav skin from this bp.

She is SO pretty. She would totally like this. I saw people saying "oh but she wasn't like this in the arts" ok, so? Who told you Aphrodite is like the arts? The gods AREN'T human, and I can't say that enough! They can, indeed, take humanoid/human forms, but they aren't human nor have a humanlike figure naturally. They are cosmic figures! So, technically, any greek gods representation would be right. They don't have gender either!

A fun fact: I worship Aphrodite mainly, she is my regent goddess and has been protecting me since I was born (or even before that). And I give her a human form in my head when worshipping her (and all other gods), usually based on the art depictions of her (like Birth of Venus), but EVERY devotee will depict her different – she is the god of beauty, and everyone's perception of beauty is different.

And, apart from that, she is resembling Aphrodite. White hair? Not unusual, I can see her with it; tanned skin? Alright! She was born on the beach, after all; clothing? Ohh boy she would ROCK that! The gold and white is very Aphrodite-like, the pinkish/red nails, the belts with little hearts... she is so cool and pretty, AAAAHHHH!!!

(I will not talk about every skin style, but just to give Immortal Aphrodite style its justice: it's pretty, SO PRETTY, and she would like it too.)

Slurp..... Poseidon!

Oh boy he is cute. 7/10. I don't understand the hate he's getting. Just because yall see Poseidon as a bodybuilder older guy from the seas, doesn't mean he is. He isn't human! And this definitely isn't disrespectful, if you are thinking about it – I'm pretty sure Poseidon would have a laugh at this.

On the Fortnite skin side... I hate it. Like, I don't hate it. But I'll definitely not be wearing this ever. Same reason as Cerberus; I don't like animalistic skins (he isn't animalistic... I think. But I think yall can get what I'm saying), and he is BIG boi. I don't like wearing man skins usually, only Shadow Midas – the only Midas I have till now 😭 – and Montague, because they are slim. Many of the manly skins I have are more thick, have muscles. I don't like the playability they have, and don't like them in general (not characters, the looks/functionality/mobility/etc). But he is cute. I can't lie.

Medusa

She is here for the girlbosses! 9/10. Not a goddess, but she has a big role in the mythology and she could be an essential part of the lore, if we look at her story and myths, Epic can really win on that.

I just love her eyes, dark makeup, clothes... It's all soooo her! And I like the snakes too. Saw someone saying that they could be green and it would be better – yeah, I can see the point. But I like the purpleish look on them too, and maybe, just maybe, her special style or the style we win by completing the memory missions is the 'green look'. I mean, if it isn't, Epic has missed a big opportunity! But yeah, I like her. I just didn't like the bottom part of her clothes very much, idk, it gives me a strange odd feeling, maybe because there is TOO many white. Maybe if her pants weren't white, or if her dress (?) was longer so she could wear it alone, without pants, it would be better. At least it's what I think.

Father of mortals, Zeus!

10/10. BEST SKIN along with Aphrodite. Maybe a bit of favoritism, as he is one of my protectors too. But speaking in a "he resembles Zeus so much" way, too! A friend told me about people complaining that he has ammo and grenades on him, are yall SERIOUS? THIS is what yall complaining? If yall are complaining about this you should complain about all bp skins this season, lol. They are in a BATTLE ROYALE. You want them to change all the BR weapons to meele? You wouldn't like it, trust me, I'm a ninja main in Save The World. I really like these additional details on him, bringing the Fortnite into his skin.

And I didn't mention any of the skins' pickaxes or backblings nor other items, but I just gotta talk about the SAVE THE WORLD reference on this. HE HAS A GUITAR????? IS THIS A LARS FROM SAVE THE WORLD WHO HAS ZEUS TATTOOS AND VAN? AND RIDES THE LIGHTNING? METALLICA? ZEUS? OLIMPUS? OH MY GOD I'M GOING CRAZY. And his pickaxe is really cool too

Artemis

8/10. I like her, and the points I don't like aren't "oh she doesn't look like Artemis at all" points (as you could guess based on my other points on other skins). I mean, I'll prob not use her as much as I will use Aphrodite and Medusa. And Zeus (yeah I'll pretty much use his skin despite him being big). She is cute, and pretty. And I like her skin having a little tan, too, even if I think it would be great if she had just a little more tan, as she 'lives' in the woods. But oh boy, aren't her clothes PRETTY??!?!?!? I think they are very bow user if I'm being honest.

I can't lie, I don't like her BLUE eyes. They are REAAAALLYYY BLUE. And lipstick too, I don't think she would really use it, especially pink, if you see her myths and story. But I guess it would look a bit strange if her lips didn't have color.

Another point in her that I absolutely DISLIKE is this F*CKING GALAXY THING. THIS RUIN ANY SKIN! This is a really personal opinion, but I SAID WHAT I SAID. I think they are so ugly and 2014 gamer girl vibes (like I was). And in Artemis? I don't think it fits that much. She is much more related to Moon AND FOREST! They could have done this galaxy nasty thing as a superstyle on the extra rewards since almost all superstyles are ugly anyway. Maybe an all black and silver clothing with a silver moon in her top would be better yk. And her hair, WITH THIS EFFIN GALAXY OH MY GOD I HATE THIS F GAME. And I think it's SO spiky too, for some reason, the "top" of her hair looks so artificial and not curly at all, unlike her back hair. And I think it could suit her better if she had her hair in a bun, as, you know, SHE IS A HUNTER!! But galaxies are my biggest complaint.

Finally... Hades.

Isn't my boy, Hades? He's cool. 7/10 I think. I mean, I wouldn't really think of him and think of neon green (maybe a deep purple), but it fits him AND Cerberus. Cerberus looks so cool with the neon green, and Hades, being his "dad" (lol), has to match, speaking in a skin-wise way.

I can see the gas mask, too. I mean, he lives in the underworld afterall, it prob doesn't smell very good in there. And there is miasma too (I'll not elaborate on this, but for me, it makes sense the gas mask). I just think his hand fingers would look better if they were black and shadowish, like with some smoke/shadow in them. I'll prob never use his skin. But it's cool and it resembles a boss, specifically a underworld boss.

Final toughts

As you can see, I'm still really hyped, and I like this season very much already. I haven't played any matches yet. I was waiting yesterday – in my country, the updates are usually released at 11AM, so I wake up and download to play after the download. But as you can imagine, it didn't work like that yesterday. I had college (yeah, Fortnite players are at university too), and I just skipped classes so I could play all day the new season. I JUST GOT TO OPEN FORTNITE TODAY. Yestarday, it was 11:50PM in my area when they OPENED the servers (may I remember you I am used to the servers opening 11AM), and I tried launching the game. First I got a key chain error after just 5 minutes of queue, had to reopen the game; 20 minutes of queue, and when it finished, SERVER ERROR; reopened for the last time and it was a 50 MINUTE QUEUE WAITING TIME. I gave up and went to bed, was already feeling bad because of other things. Today I woke up at 10AM, prob because of anxiety, hyperfocus is a messed up things sometimes. And it's when I opened the game for the first time, FINALLY!

Yesterday, I had just woken up, ready to update Fortnite, and one of my friends sent me the MIDAS skin that is set to release sometime in this season. Oh gosh, when I tell you that I WOKE UP with his message, I REALLY woke up. I LOVE MIDAS!!! He's been my obsession since mid last year, and because of him I started really hyperfocusing in Fortnite. I was already hyperfocused, but not really caring that much about the lore or characters. And in these past months, all I've been wanting is his Midsummer skin to come back to the item shop (and summer in my country is almost getting over, it's a bit depressing that Epic doesn't change seasonal items according to match the countries/emispheres. I'll only be able to get his SUMMER skin at WINTER, as USA summer is in the middle of the year, when it's already winter here). Now I have a reason to be even more hyped for this season – he can be released at any moment! Oh my man, I've been waiting patiently for you. And I'm happy.

Fav makeup products?

There are several that I like quite a bit. My favorite goth-minded brand is Black Moon Cosmetics - they have great liquid lipsticks especially. I also like Limecrime quite a bit (and yes, I know their founder is scuzzy, but she doesn't own the brand anymore).

I used to be really big into Melt Cosmetics back when they had more goth-type makeup, but they've gotten more conventional with time, which is a bummer. Thankfully I still have a bunch of their old eyeshadows and eyeliners that have since been discontinued.

Medusa's Makeup makes really good cosmetic glitter. The black liquid eyeliners I currently use come from Haus Labs and NYX. The white foundation I use for trad goth looks was made by Illamasqua. My normal pale beige foundation and powder comes from Tarte.

The mascara I use is Too Faced's Better than Sex Waterproof, and that shit really really does not come off. I'll still have remnants of it around my eyes after four days sometimes. I have never worn false eyelashes and I don't know if I ever will - it's just not for me.

Ranking All The Greco-Roman Retellings I’ve Read! For Fun! Please Don’t Kill Me For Not Putting TSOA At #1!!! With Little To No Explanation.

1.) A Thousand Ships - Natalie Haynes

This is literally one of my fav books ever all time. The fact that we get retellings from so many of the women’s perspectives in one book, and not just the captive women, but the goddesses, AND EVEN THE MUSE TOO? Superb. I’m obsessed. I’ve read it three times over, which says a lot because I’ve only ever chosen to reread one other book. My fav chapters are the Calliope chapters, the Thetis chapter (so upset there was only one), the Cassandra chapters, and the Hekabe chapters!

2.) Stone Blind - Natalie Haynes & Silence Of The Girls - Pat Barker

I’m rereading Silence Of The Girls as I type this actually. It’s couldn’t choose between the two.. they were both so incredible. Similar to A Thousand Ships, Stone Blind takes on MANY different perspectives, including Medusa ofc. My fav was the Unnamed Neried chapter, that and the Panopeia chapters. And Silence Of The Girls.. oh my gods it such a guy wrenching retelling from Briseis’s perspective, and what day to day life must’ve been like on the camp. Also? Actually Accurate Patrochilles, finally.

3.) Wake, Siren - Nina MacLaughlin

First off, Roman Mythos retelling? Already in love. It’s just.. so gut wrenching. Every chapter makes you wanna scream. In the best way possible. I just,, I can’t put it into words how this books made me feel. The Thetis chapter hit me the hardest, obvi. But the Arachne chapter? Oh my gods I wanted to cry.

4.) Circe - Madeleine Miller

It was good. It was actually quite good, very good, even. But where it wasn’t good, it was.. questionable. Can we as a society stop trying to constantly villainize all the deities? Like, and before you say “biased perspective!!! Unreliable narrator!!” Which, yes, I love narrators that have a thing against the deities and emphasize the worst of what they’ve done, but there are certain parts in there where I’m like.. hello? Specifically when Hermes was saying that the Gods want mortals to be miserable bc a miserable mortal will give you more offerings then a happy one,,,, which like???? Hello??? When was that EVER the case ever?? I liked the ending.

5.) The Song Of Achilles - Madeleine Miller

Yeah I have a vendetta against this book. If you wanna read it, go for it, but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, read the Iliad first. And maybe Silence of The Girls first too. Were Patroclus and Achilles in love? And probably kissing it sloppy style? Yeah. BUT WE CAN’T ERASE THE FACT THAT THEY WERE SLEEPING WITH WAR CAPTIVE WOMEN. And also, to not only ignore that, but then make it seem like they were treating Briseis well???? When she was literally A WAR CAPTIVE??? Also, I will never, EVER, forgive this book for demonizing Thetis. They made her seem like some homophobic mom as if she didn’t do EVERYTHING FOR HER SON. Idk. I also hate that this book bought on a whole new generation of people who think Patroclus was Achilles gay little twink boy. Like.. are we forgetting they were literally out committing war crimes probably.

Anyways that’s my list rn!!!! I wanna read Jennifer Saint’s books next.

to watch, my favorite hermit's grian. idk what it is about his videos, they're just the perfect pacing and stuff for me to actually pay attention and consistently watch.

5 - favorite duo, trio or group?

oooo hard one! i find i enjoy hermits more when they can bounce off each other and stuff. i always forget that i dont really consistently watch anyone other than grian? in a perfect world, i'd have a few hours every day to watch every single hermit's episodes, but ah. thats not how it works. so, going purely off of fan art/fiction, i love scar & cub, etho and bdubs, team ZIT, and of course the hermitgals!

6 - favorite server event?

i honestly canNot remember any server events. like at all. uH,m the turf war was fun! it definitely sprouted some amazing fanart!

uh wAIT how could i forget the empires crossover!!?!! yeah empires x hermitcraft was 100% my favorite! *looks at westernduo with my autistic eyes*

i cannot even describe etho, i think i failed kindergarten because my brain will Not think of any animals lmao. i think in fanon he's normally associated with arctic foxes and such, so that fits pretty well.

uHmHm cleo is hard to place? i always think of the hermits less of animals as hybrids, mmm.. i do like when she's drawn with orange snake hair like medusa, soooooo take that as you will :]

9 favorite shows as gifs

This is once again in no specific order because they’re all very different shows and all top tier imo.

1. Parks and Recreation

My favorite sitcom I have rewatched it soo many times and was so sad when it got moved to streaming on Peacock but then my cousin got Peacock and now I leech onto their account to watch it.

2. Schitts Creek

Elite sitcom! So funny, so heartfelt, Dan Levy you are my fav nepo baby and I accuse nepotism for this show. And Miora Rose iconic.

3. Space Force

Another tragic betrayal from Netflix by canceling this show. I love Ben Schwartz and space.

4. The Get Down

This was the first betrayal I ever experience from Netflix and you may be saying hey I’ve never heard of The Get Down before we’ll it’s because it featured a fully poc cast and told a beautiful story of the start of hip hop and fall of disco from the perspective of young teens from the Bronx in the 70s and Netflix didn’t promote it at all. It was directed by Baz Luhrmann ya know the guy that did Romeo and Juliet with Leo DiCaprio. This show was beautiful and amazing and I cried when I found out they canceled it. Still the story ends pretty well with only a slight cliffhanger that Baz later clarified what would actually happen so if your looking for a show to watch I very highly recommend this one . It’s incredible, the soundtrack is amazing, there are lgbt characters, I mean I can’t ever say enough.

5. Once Upon a Time

The chokehold this show had me on since I was 11. Unparalleled. I love everyone in this show like family, each character means so much to me it’s insane. Last season was eh they were trying too hard to keep it alive but that’s shows now a days. Gif of the queen herself.

6. Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin

Speaking of shows that had me in a chokehold the orginal pretty little liars was one of them. I was obsessed and they lost me the last few season after trying to hard to keep the show alive. A good show has an ending you don’t have to keep adding more to it. That being said I did not think this reboot/spin-off would be good but oh boy is it. I mean there is a slasher killer, it’s beautifully shot, and the cast is great.

7. Derry Girls

I absolutely love this show! I love everything about it. I pretend I have an Irish accent every time I watch it (sorry to any Irish followers but I think it’s a pretty decent attempt). This show is hilarious and I can’t wait to watch the final season.

8. Shadow and Bone

This show led to a downward spiral into the Grishaverse series and I am perfectly okay with it. I am still read every book in the series I’m on the final six of crow book rn. This show is soooo good I cried first episode for some reason. The cast is so hot. The characters and storylines are everything.

9. New Girl

Last but not least, this show is iconic. The friendships, the jokes, everything. Love it.

10. DEADLY CLASS

This!!! this show is one of the greatest shows to ever exist and I’m sooooo mad it got canceled. It’s based on a comic it’s one season I highly recommend despite the cliff hanger (because technically no cliff hanger if you jsut look up what happens in the comics). I love this show so much I did write a fan fic about it on Wattpad it’s called Medusa if you want to check it out. Literally Marcus (pictured above) the most incredible and stupid character ever I love him; the sass he has amazing. You will love all the characters as much as you hate them sometimes it’s great. Lana Condor is in it and so is Benedict Wong. If you like marvel movies the Russo brothers are producers.

i think theyre so cute and i love their friendship a lot

They're all so cute!! i care them all so much!!!!!

for some reason i'm really affectionate toward Nezha? it predates his yukata unit so i can't even blame it on him being super hot there, and he's not really useful so i can't even say i grew to like him out of playing him. idk there's just something about his overall attitude that i really like.

Close second would be Satyr, she's very cute and dynamic and fun and sweet, and i love how much she looks out for the rest of the group.

Medusa has a tragic backstory that makes me soft toward her, and Baal is really extremely cool and his design is A+++++.

their friendship as a group is really the highlight. I feel like i like them less as individuals, than as they are as a group together.

Like i think Summer Medusa's uncap ends up being my favorite art for any of them only because it's really just showing how natural it is for all of them to be together and enjoy their time together.

like genuinely i get a bit teary when i think about it

There's something magical about this friendship that lasted so many centuries, that had them hold on through their hardest time, especially after all we've ever seen of primals and the woes we've heard about how they're scared about being lonely and outliving the people they loved and everything. And the fact their events had focused especially on Geo as an antagonist really managed to contrast this inherent loneliness to the primal condition VS how close they are and how they know they want to stay together as long as they possibly can.

So yeah, honestly i just, really like them as a group so much it's a bit hard to actually pick one as a fav above the others, and while i vibe probably more with Nezha it's really just when they're all together that i'm really emotional about all of them.

Good group, good friends, would do anything for them.

can i just say that stumbling across this blog was the best thing ever?? like i just read "tragedies of tevyat" and HOLY SHIT im in awe like??? and being a huge greek mythology enthusiast myself and medusa's story being one of my fav, i was extremely happy when i saw her name on the contents, really looking forward to it !!

WAIT SHINY YOU’VE PLAYED KID ICARUS UPRISING??? god that makes me so happy to hear—it’s one of my fav games ever!!

i know this is way different from the content that you usually share/post on this blog, but would you be willing to share some thoughts on the game and/or its characters? i’d just love to hear what you have to say—if you have anything to say, ofc. the game is kinda old and i have no clue if you remember enough to share, plus this is completely different from your usual content

no pressure to answer this ofc! you can delete if you want—i’m honestly just hella happy that someone has played this game, i just love it sm <3

I did. It's one of the few not incredibly popular Nintendo games I've ever played, the only other one like it that I can think of at the top of my head is recent installments of the Fire Emblem series. Anyways, I got into it because I used to be absolutely obsessed with Super Smash Bros. You know, that game where you can fight as characters from different game series? Yeah, that one. Obsessed didn't even begin to describe it, I lived and breathed that game. But that's a whole other story. Anyways, my first main in SSB was Palutena, which is what got me to try the Kid Icarus game.

It's been a while since I played it. I want to say that the first and last time I played it was over five years ago, and I think I completed it fairly quickly too. Anyways, I like the character designs of the gods and the voice acting is neat to. I also remembering enjoying the twist that Medusa wasn't the final enemy, and you actually had a lot left to do before you can take on the true final boss Hades.

I don't remember a lot, but I do remember some of the main characters like Pit, Palutena, Pittoo, Viridi. Pit is a lovable protagonist. Yeah, he's all nice and friendly and heroic but it's not annoying. I actually really like him. Palutena's dialogue with Pit was always amusing to listen to, but I kind of wish we saw more of her in action. It felt like she was just the player in control and Pit was just the chess piece. Pittoo was an interesting addition. I wasn't really against it, I don't remember a lot besides Pit saving him. At first Viridi was very annoying antagonist, but then she became better and I liked her bickering with Pit.

Anywho, Yoongi’s list. This felt like Sophie’s choice. It may make me a basic bitch, but I am a Min/Kid gal till death do part these fics and I. Heart is forever clenched when reading these two, and I am not exaggerating in the slightest when I say that ALL your Yoongi fics are my faves. I read them front to back, top to bottom, on the regular. BUT, a list had to be made, so here we go.

My number one turn on in life is communication. Anyone I invest time into, friends, family or romance is someone I feel comfortable to pouring my heart out to, and vice versa with wanting to hear them give it all to me too. Holding meaningful conversation and feeling heard. So, I think what I loved about this fic is seeing someone as aloof as Yoongi (even though we both know he’s not actually that aloof and he’s just a honey boy) feeling comfortable enough to open up to Kid, and showing he obviously cares about her so much that he genuinely wants to listen to what she has to say. That’s literally all I want in a partner. Also good conversation AND smut? Is it Christmas?

I am a hopeless romantic at heart, who’s had an ever evolving wedding Pinterest board since 2011. And PROUD. So the way this spoke to the little girl living inside of me who has engagement and proposal fantasies. GAH. I just loved everything about this. Yoongi’s sincerity, Kid’s goofy banter. All of it. I will be sending this to any potential candidates who want to become my future husband or wife so they can take notes. Love.

favourite fic of all time - oooh this is a hard one. now i dont really read fics for any other fandom, its kinda for marauders for me so. my wip favourites are disintegration by moonymoment, crimson rivers by zar, edge by pinkpalaceapartments (another agent-james assassin-reg fic, based on killing eve), kill your darlings by messermoon, and ofc dead or alive (i guess i have a thing for assassin reg and agent james LOL) now for finished fics... the winner is gonna have to go to just lovers (like we were supposed to be) by zar. (and intermission by zar too since it fits in there) its just perfect and i feel like ive reread it a billion times.

fav golden trio era ship - probably luna and neville (do they have a ship name? i cant think of it if they do) they were my favourite characters as a kid so they have a special place in my heart. OH i also love romione because theyre just a classic and i love them sm.

do i write fics - sadly no. ive tried and failed. im not a creative writer at all, in fact im literally the opposite, call me the grammar police. im essentially the designated paper editor among my friends because im fantastic at technical writing and stuff like that, but i cant write for shit. i truly envy people who can create such beautiful stories.

tea or coffee - coffee always. i do love tea and have it probably just as much as coffee but i will always be a coffee girly.

go to outfit - hmm. well i basically live in my doc martens and leather jacket (very sirius of me i must say) and i do love a good baggy jean and band tee look. but on my off days you cannot find me out of my sweatpants or pajamas. its simply not happening.

how many piercings - 4, two on each earlobe. (2 i did myself with a sewing needle, dont recommend) i really wanna get my septum or just the nostril, but i havent decided yet. although id probably never get it, i do love the look of the medusa piercing too its just cool.

area of study - im studying classics and anthroplogy in uni rn! ive always been a history/humanities girly and i love ancient history and languages so much so thats what i decided to do. (plus i was a greek mythology kid so) i think my ideal career path would be archaeologist but that could change at any given moment, so im just seeing where uni takes me.

fun fact about me - hmmm. im left handed! kinda not a fun fact but for some reason i dont know very many left handed people (i swear have we gotten rarer or something??)

2. Is it easier to draw someone facing left or right (or forward even)

Facing forward!! It depends on the piece sometimes, but looking over my pieces a lot of them face forward. I think I just like drawing lips and such from the front.

3. What ideas come from when you were little

When I was a kid, I painstakingly compiled a slideshow of alphabetical Marian titles with accompanying art because I heard the title "Ark of the New Covenant" and went feral over the symbolism. Pretty sure that was the inspo for my Ave Maria series.

4. Fav character/subject that's a terror to draw

Love Rook. Love him to death. But he never comes out right, and I always end up discarding the drafts before they ever see the light of day. Ah, well.

14. Any favorite motifs

Circles, circles, circles. I love em. That and patterned clothing and little tiny tassels on the ends of everything.

20. Something everyone else finds hard to draw but you enjoy

I don't know if everyone finds this hard to draw, but I've come to really enjoy hair and lips!

29. Media you love, but doesn't inspire you artistically

Film is one of my favourite forms of art, but I rarely draw from it artistically (with digital art at least). For example, I love the visuals in pieces like Dunkirk or Midnight Mass, but they don't drive me to draw.

30. What piece of yours do you think is underrated

I was honestly really pleased with my Medusa piece, but it didn't really get much traction! Which is fair, as it deals with a sensitive topic, but I enjoyed working on that one a lot!

Can we get a pain rating thing for your tattoos like you talked about? And maybe a general aftercare routine, I am getting a tattoo for the first time soon and I am so nervous 😔

i think this will answer most questions, but if there’s anything else feel free to ask, i luv answering!!

okay so general advice for WHEN you’re getting tatted is make sure to eat and drink beforehand. my two most recent i got just a couple days ago, in this deadly heatwave and i wouldn’t recommend that for anyones first time, just cos you don’t know how you’ll react. some shops will have water and little snacks if you need, but it’s always a good idea to bring some for yourself (im terrible and don’t do this, but it’s also never been an issue for me, but it may be for you!)

another thing is, you can use numbing cream etc, but be very careful with any pain meds etc, cos you don’t want anything that’s going to act as a blood thinner. i personally don’t take anything beforehand and don’t use numbing cream, but one of my friends brings her own and has the tattoo artist apply it beforehand while they work on the sketch. also be as picky as you like. this is going on your body, ideally forever, and you wouldn’t want to get something that you’re just iffy about! i always look at the sketch closely, and make sure i point out anything i don’t like before the stencil is on. with that being said, listen to what your artist says regarding placement etc! they will know better, and sometimes compromise is better for the sake of the tattoo. for example, my next tat in october (hopefully) is a medusa piece, and while i originally wanted it on my wrist, my artist said there was no way he could do the proper justice needed for the piece with that little space, so we’ve moved it! my africa tattoo is slightly higher than i originally thought it would be, but it ended up working out so much better. also be wary of really small thin dainty tats! just know the risks. they will bleed, they will become less precise etc, they’ll fade quicker and if you’re okay with that, go for it! my collar bone tat is tiny and dainty, it’s going to have to be babied in aftercare and in life, and even then it might be completely unintelligible in 2 years BUT! i am willing to take the risk and i am willing to get it touched up if need be.

for pain rating, let’s just remember that everyone is different! i have some of my tattoos in the “worst” or “bad” spots for pain, most are tbh, and i’ve never ever tapped out or had any issues whatsoever but i do have a HIGH pain tolerance and i like the feeling of the needle. everyone is going to be different, some spots will be worse for you than they were for me, and some of the “easier” spots might be very sensitive to you! my friend feels the need to vomit anytime she gets tatted directly on top of bone but i prefer that over the fattier bits! so everyone will be different. i always say to start with a smaller tattoo and work your way up. don’t be afraid to tap out. don’t be afraid to take breaks! but anywayz with that in mind

my first tattoo was my butterfly on my shoulder (it’s gonna be part of a bigger piece me thinks, gonna add to it) and honestly it took 20 mins, it was quick and easy. maybe 3/10, and i think that’s largely bc it was my first and i didn’t know what to expect. not bad at all, just a little sting

my two next ones i got at the same time! i got my grandads name on my ribs, and tbh everyoneeeee and their nan told me ribs was bad, but it was honestly nothing. it tickled on some parts, and the only annoying bit is really that the artist might have to lean on your stomach to get the right angle. 2/10. right after i got my like top of my shoulder tat, and this one was a little more of a hassle. i would say the actual tattoo was a 3/10, but the aftercare was a serious 6/10. my shoulder/collar bone was soooo sore for DAYS because of the pressure. but all in all not bad.

my 444 forearm tattoo/wrist, it’s on the outer lower part of my forearm by my wrist, on the bone. im being serious, i did not feel this one at all. i sat in the chair for maybe 15/20 mins bc my artist is chatty, and i didn’t notice anything. 0/10

my next tattoo was my biggest, got it in april and it’s the tiger on my upper-mid back/spine! im gonna be 1000% honest, i was hungover and wandered into my fav artists shop on a whim to hopefully BOOK a tat, and he ended up squeezing me in. he’s tatted from head to toe, but refuses to get his back done cos of pain, which was so funny cos i fell asleep! honestly it was sooo chill. 2/10 on most parts, and maybe a 4/10 on the top part when we got to shading. at that point, we were like 50 minutes into the session and my skin was tired, so it was a little more of a burning sensation than usual, but nothing bad at all.

my collar bone tat is literally the tiniest skinniest piece of font ever and i barely felt it. just be aware that this guy will be all up in your titties 1/10

my africa tattoo is like on the bottom of my back/side, close to my hip and it was maybe a 2/10 most parts, 4/10 on the bottom bits. i tend to find the fattier bits of my body are more painful than areas with thinner skin/on top of bone (which is the opposite of what i was told LMAO)

for aftercare, i’ve definitely changed up how i care for my fresh inkies (and piercings tbh) with time and experience. with my first tattoo, i actually OVERWORKED the aftercare and babied it so much that it actually wasn’t great. now, i have it down pat. so i buy the tattoo goo kit from superdrug! it is my absolute fav way of healing my tattoos. it says to wash your fresh tat 3/4 times a day to start with the soap provided, and then use the balm. i will not lie, i only do 3, maybe 4 times a day the first two days for smaller pieces, and the first 3-5 days for anything a little bigger. i do 2 times a day until the tattoo scabs and usually a good indicator of aftercare is minimal scabbing. when it’s scabbed i just use the lotion from the kit, and i do that maybe 3-4 times a day depending on the size, and i just check up on it. when i shower with the scab, i wash the tattoo after with the soap, let it air dry (drying with anything, even patting, i always feel it pulls at the scab too much) and use the lotion, not the balm. for my back piece, i had help from others, and in the first few days i used aquaphor bc that’s what my artist wanted. i switched to tattoo goo halfway thru with that piece. some tattoo artists will use saniderm, or a second skin on your ink, i’ve never had an artist do that on me. my back piece i left the shop with it unwrapped, and my other tattoos i had the cling film on anywhere from 3/4 hours to a day. with my most recent africa tat, the wrapping fell off within 20 mins, purely cos of the heat outside, so i took it off, went home and cleaned it as normal. you will not die from the wrapping falling off, just don’t rewrap it! the most important thing is keeping the tattoo clean and moisturised. if you’re getting little bumps on your skin along it, you’re probably overdoing it with the lotion. i try and keep the fresh ink out of the sun for like 2-3 months preferably (bit hard now but) and i ALWAYS put spf on my tattoos before i do anything outside. i use the tattoo goo lotion leftover after healing on all my tattoos after a shower, and then i use this tattoo enhancing lotion on my old ones, not the fresh ones.
