What is the "night island"? what impact can he have on the plot of the series, and why is this place important for Armand's story?
Hey!
"Night Island" is a luxury shopping island/resort (originally off the coast of Miami iirc), with hotels, and entertainment centers that Armand purchases for Daniel while they are together.
Daniel owns it in the books (Armand gives it to him(*)).
Later, after the events of QotD (Akasha's rising) Night Island serves as a place where the surviving vampires come together and even after most leave the island stays a place where vampires stop by from time to time.
Now, for the show:
AMC is (still**) developing a mini-series that will follow art thieves who try to steal something off Night Island, not knowing what kind of creatures call it home.
**I say "still" because it was delayed with the strikes there was no news for a long while, but it has been stated they're still on it.
AMC will release the mini series somehow in relation to Devil's Minion developing, because the connection cannot really be severed.
It is also a very cool setup to come back to later in IWTV, whenever they choose to do Akasha.
Also:
There was a post back then (which was deleted after), which announced "Night Island" (I think simply too early). It had black sand around the card, and black sand is at a certain beach close to Pompeii. And Pompeii... and the Villa of Mysteries... is a very important moment for Daniel and Armand. :)
As for impact...
It depends on how they will choose to use Night Island - as a show and a moment in the show.
If they only have other vampires there and references the mini-series could have relatively little impact.
But either way the island/resort itself (as in story-point) will play a bigger role in the show at some point.
In Daniel's and Armand's past... and likely their future.
(* btw - if it should turn out that the tower in Dubai is the show's Night Island and that Daniel has forgotten he owns it... THAT would be funny 😅 - but I think it will stay an island)
Random thought but: Night Island is in the Bermuda Triangle, and Armand is definitely responsible for at least some of the random disappearances ascribed to it. (Undoubtedly the rest of the Coven contributed to this after '85 as well.)
For those of you who have recently arrived and aren't familiar with the spinoffs that AMC will be making in relation to MW and #IWTV, here's a summary focusing only on Night Island.
Armand's, Daniel's and ArmandxDaniel's fans will be familiar with Night Island, since the place is completely owned by both characters, so let's say it's part of them.😁
🚨A quick spoiler about Night Island in Queen of the Damned just for context:
So it was only to be expected that when AMC announced a spinoff based on this place we all went crazy. Of course, because it simply meant one thing...

Jonathan Ceniceroz came to ig to talk about it, saying that the script was ready even before the strike last year (2023).
x o
There was some information and even a brief synopsis.
x
But then it seemed that AMC had deleted the original post... And the lack of updates or information about it left us in a complete painful silence.
x
Time passed and nothing, absolutely nothing...
x
The year has passed and with it the second season of IWTV has been finalized, recently receiving a premiere date followed by the start of recording of MW and with it also the announcement that they are producing a third show about Talamasca.
x
The Talamasca spinoff had been announced at the same time as Night Island, but apparently it has survived the passage of time, while we are still waiting for some information that I hope will arrive close to the premiere of S2 or after it has finished.
But I assume that the silence must be deliberate for many reasons, one of which may be the fact that we don't really know Armand. The character was introduced to us in the final seconds of the first season, while I believe the Talamasca must have been a recurring feature in the MW series (I didn't make it past the third episode lol), so perhaps it wouldn't make sense to introduce Night Island as something that belongs entirely to Armand if we don't know who he is. Perhaps the show will air after the second season of IWTV. Only time will tell. Then again, maybe approaching Night Island by indirectly mentioning Armand is a bit odd, what about not mentioning Daniel at all, maybe that's already some kind of insult.
And that's why we're kind of waiting with our arms crossed.

”At the beginning it was very fun because it was more of this design exercise based on character - Lestat’s coffin versus Louis’ versus Claudia’s. We ended up building them all and building them in different sizes so that you could shoot inside of them. We would build sample versions out of cardboard and then get Sam and Jacob to come and lie in them and make sure they could both fit. You know, it was a very charming exercise.“
AND:
“Louis was a collector of art too, and so, that was months of discussion, because I think art is something that so many people have ideas about.“
Seems like Louis and Armand did choose the art in Dubai?!
I'm really torn here. I want to say Khayman would buy the most stuff besides maybe Lestat but I think all of them would spend hours in the store in sheer awe.
Bonus question: Was there a Sharper Image store in the Night Island shopping center? y/n?
Armand had been staring out at the ocean from his private beach cove, syncing his body to its melodic waves. His little sanctuary for himself and Daniel currently had a varied mix of house guests - some of which wouldn't be his ideal choice. But after the armageddon of their kind, to refuse to play host seemed churlish. His inner thoughts not always uniform or as measured as he'd like, he felt exposed in a way he hadn't in centuries. With this in mind, he forgave himself, not hearing a much older vampire approach him from behind until they spoke. He should have at least heard Marius' heartbeat or soft footfalls on the sand even if his other senses were blind to his maker.
Armand could have replied a thousand things. But chose this instead. Having Marius physically near was still something he had yet become accustomed to. Since the fervour of reunion had cooled after Sonomo, he was unsure of their future whilst reconcilling their past. "A poor host for having to be found."
