Hmmm. Visited a new section of the Organs Mountains, today. Took this 3 by 1 pano on a whim. For sure didn’t put any real effort into it…Got home and realized this is actually a really cool shot! Slot Canyon at Buttes Pass at Anza Borrego Desert State Park was the very first Slot Canyon that I have ever seen, hiked, and photographed on March 13, 2023! Special thanks to @jameskaofoto for adding this to our itinerary after the Wildflowers Photo Shoot at Anza Borrego Desert State Park! This Canyon looked like a miniature Grand Canyon from the top, but as we hiked inside, the slots got thinner and it took more effort to carefully walk through the slots with our camera gear. In some parts, only one person at a time could hike through the slot! But what a fun adventure this was for us! This experience motivates me to want to try to hike and photograph other Slot Canyons in the future. I thought this was so cool, because when you typically see an image like this it’s @photoshop, but I actually happened to catch three sandhill cranes on the home stretch at the same time. 😄 My favorite thing about these large birds is how much they remind me of airplanes. In the two color images, you can see how they adjust their wings as they descend. A video would show this better, but I was out of space in the memory card. 😞😞😞 On the final stretch, they’ll turn their wings upward to create drag then proceed to flap until landing. (Planes don’t flap their wings of course. Lol. 😆) I love seeing how humans take designs from nature and implement them into technology.
