I'm annoyed that I can't read curly wurly text properly dkhkgjhkd Hideyoshi's "fake Edo era name" here does not seem to be the usual "Hisayoshi", but I can't tell what it says.

Nobu's one here is "Ota Harunaga" 小田春長 as usual, and Toshiie is "Saeda Inukiyo" 左枝犬清 (THEY USED HIS "INUCHIYO" NAME TO MAKE THE FAKE NAME, NOT TOSHIIE AHAHAHHHAHAHAHAHAHA). Can't read Hideyoshi's. I think it looks like "Matsushita"-something.

And the funniest part of it is "Saeda" is written as "Sa-Eda", just to obfuscate his name even further LOL. It's clever, but also very funny. The kanji for "Maeda" is spelled as "Mae-Da".

Also, while trying to find if there's a website that gives the kanji for the names, I saw that the Museum of Boston website labels 左枝犬清 as being read "Sae Kensei". I don't see furigana on the prints, but unless there is furigana in the catalogue or something, then I wonder if someone at the museum screwed up because they failed to recognise the parody.

This is from another print, this one involving a fake Yoshimoto, but it's part of the same "series".

I'm not sure "Miyako Shinsuke" is right either. Again, unless the ukiyoe printers are the ones who provided funny readings on purpose so that it can pass the censors, 郡新助 is probably supposed to be read as "Koori Shinsuke", a parody of Mouri Shinsuke (long "o" sounds can be written as either "oo" or "ou").

first of all i’m going nuts over how his inner shirt/garment has the same pattern as his obi. That means his inner shirt is also made of silk! befitting for a royal like him! wish i knew what the pattern is though!

also the inner shirt covers his whole neck??!!! aaaaaa

next his obi (or belt)! this looks like fukuro obi! it’s the most formal type and size of women’s obi! it’s width is so big! and cumbersome! and totally unnecessary! but nobunobu wears it coz it’s super stylish!

he doesn’t knot it at the back though. so is the obi length cut short? how is it fastened? i wonder if parts of it are just folded. but he still wears an obi cord to tie it in place!

next his long coat! Looks badass! but also! it’s a more refined version of katsura and gintoki’s costumes from harusame arc!

next, his upper garment and pants. are those made of leather? black silk? idk but it looks sleek and made of good and durable quality fabric,

question though. how short is his upper kimono-like garment anyway? and to what extent does the obi cover? is the upper garment tucked in the pants? is the top of the pants under the obi?

the answer:

the upper garment is super short (like a crop top????). there nothing is peeking out from under the obi! how?!!!

the inner garment is the short sleeve type!

Also, see! There is no knot behind the obi!

Aside from pooping in this pants there was no way nobu could’ve properly returned the pants to sit properly under his obi. he’s gonna have to redo the whole belt. changing into sweatshirt and pants were much easier.

anyway the pattern of the inner shirt suddenly changed to maple leaves (was sorachi running out of those pattern thingies?)

oh man no matter how i look at it, the whole ensemble still looks cool. impractical..but cool.

the joui 4 are so funny because they’re all guys with S class charisma stats that they only use to 1) be obnoxious 2) commit terrorism

There's no telling what Situation they will land in but thier NP " Don't Worry Guys I Got This (Probably)" will ensure Guda will be able to resolve it.

Once again thinking about how Takasugi and Katsura do down a very similarly destructive path because they idolized a man that they loved until he might as well have been a deity, making him so fundamental to the way they perceived the world that once he was gone they simply couldn't keep track of a reality that didn't include him. And the reason Zura changed tracks at the start of the show is because he never worshipped Shouyo to the extent Takasugi did - he split his reverence between his Sensei, who made him a Samurai, and Gintoki, who let him be Zura. But in BFY Gintoki went and died, too, sending Katsura tumbling back down the same path as Takasugi.

Gintoki never puts anyone on that sort of pedestal, never places that sort of responsibility on them, not even the man that gave him a sword and a life and a future, which is why he could cope with the loss better than the other two.

He's so human, so undeniably flawed, and after the war and the Shiroyasha he makes sure everyone sees him as such. He messes with Shigeshige and punches Nobunobu and pisses off Yato and mocks everyone he respects because they're all people, none of them are infallible, and he knows that worship can be as dangerous as faith is important.
