North Korea ruled out the possibility of talks with the US

On Thursday, Kim Yo Jong, the sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, excluded the possibility of resuming talks with the US, declaring that Pyongyang “will never sit face to face” with the Washington.

Her statement followed a UN Security Council meeting convened earlier this week to discuss North Korea‘s launch of a military spy satellite.

During the UNSC meeting, US Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield stated that Washington “continues to call for dialogue on any topic with the DPRK [Democratic People’s Republic of Korea], without preconditions. The DPRK can choose the time and the topic. But the DPRK needs to make that choice.”

Kim also stated that “the sovereignty of an independent state can never be an agenda item for negotiations, and therefore, the DPRK will never sit face to face with the US for that purpose.”

The main threat to international peace and security does not come from the exercise of the DPRK’s sovereign right but from the US high-handed and arbitrary practices to disturb and oppress it.

Washington vows to maintain pressure on North Korea amid fears of new nuclear test

Washington (The Times Groupe)- The US pledged on Monday to maintain diplomatic pressure on North Korea “until the regime in Pyongyang changes course” amid repeated ballistic missile tests and fears of another nuclear test.

“Unless and until the DPRK is engaged with us, and with partners and allies in diplomacy, and dialogue, that pressure will continue. It will be sustained. And, as appropriate, it will be increased,” Secretary of State Antony Blinken said during a joint press conference with his South Korean counterpart Park Jin.

Antony Blinken was referring to North Korea by an acronym.

The US diplomat continued to warn Pyongyang against conducting what would be the seventh nuclear test in its history, saying the US remains “extremely vigilant” and has prepared its response in coordination with its allies and partners, primarily in South Korea and Japan.

“I can say simply for today that we’re preparing for all contingencies, again in very close coordination with others, notably with the ROK and with Japan, and we are prepared to make both short and longer term adjustments to our military posture as appropriate,” he said, referring to South Korea.

“A nuclear test would be dangerous. It would be deeply destabilizing to the region. It would blatantly violate international law set out in multiple United Nations Security Council resolutions,” he added.

Park echoed Blinken, saying “any North Korean provocations, including a nuclear test, will be met with a united and firm response from our alliance and the international community.”

“We expressed a special concern over North Korea’s increasingly aggressive rhetoric regarding the use of tactical nuclear weapons,” he added.

On June 8, the U.S., South Korea, and Japan announced plans to strengthen security ties, and they agreed to counter threats from North Korea if Pyongyang conducts another nuclear test.

Chinese and Russian vetoed on May 27 new UN Security Council sanctions that would have been imposed on the North in response to its continued ballistic missile tests in violation of previous council resolutions.

The General Secretary of the Worker's Party of Korea and President of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), Kim Jung Un gave a speech Thursday which was reported in the DPRK's official news outlet, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).

In the speech, Comrade Kim made the announcement of the new Constitutional amendment which enshrines the DPRK leader's Nuclear Policy into the very framework of the nation:

"Today the strategic strength of our state, the nuclear war deterrent, is being remarkably bolstered and steadily strengthened to the extent incomparably greater than the past decades."

"The major tasks of the Five-Year-Plan for the Development of the Defense Science and Weapons System have been successfully carried out and a radical leap was made in the development and introduction of powerful nuclear attack means and new strategic weapon system of our own style. Thus, we demonstrated the reliability of the nuclear strategic force of our Republic to the whole world, exposing the hostile forces to insurmountable threat and striking terror in their hearts."

"This eye-opening success, which actually shows great military muscle of the Republic fully equipped with strong and overwhelming defensive and offensive capabilities, clearly and definitively proves the courage and decisive action ability of the DPRK not to tolerate any acts of violating its sovereignty and right to existence."
