happy 6 years of astro! and happy 1st win, treasure!!

today was honestly a bit of a rollercoaster for me. i was very annoyed and grumpy? i think i miss my friends and just want some alone time, but we only have a week before classes start so T and i are on a mission to explore as much as we can.

today, we took a train to busan (hah!) at 11am. we missed our bus to get to seoul station so we got a taxi. T was feeling anxious but so was i, and i was pissed for,, reasons but also no reasons LOL. in the end! we made it! the train was so fast it made my ears pop!!

we're in jung-gu, busan right now, right by a bus stop and next to BIFF (Busan International Film Festival). it's a super hot-spot area--a lot of stores and people roaming. the hotel itself is also amazing by the way! for such a cheap price, it seems like we're at a very luxurious, expensive hotel. the shampoo! the bidet in the toilet!! the slippers and robes!!!! they gave us free sandwiches and that'll be our breakfast tomorrow c:

when we arrived, we were hungry and T found a kbbq place that specializes in grilled beef tripe called honggane (홍가네). it was only us two in there, the owners/workers being a husband and wife who grilled and cut everything for us and showed us how to eat everything with the side dishes. considering the fact that i'm not a big meat eater, i enjoyed that so much. the owners were extremely kind, too.

after this, we went to olive young so T could get contact solution. it's a vegan beauty/skincare store. monsta x are the ambassadors but there are so many other idol ads in there :o

we then took a 40 min bus to magnate, which is Jimin's dad's café. it was very minimalistic but very open and spacious. they were playing bts songs ! the prices were quite high, but ofc it makes sense. we also think Jimin's dad just walked in there?? T was a little starstruck. i was numb, honestly. i'm feeling very numb in general these days. maybe it's because things are happening so fast that i can't even process them.

i bought a very expensive mechanical pencil to cheer myself up,, she's cute i love her :")

when we got back, we went to a coin karaoke (pepeo coin // 페퍼코인) (₩1,000 for 4 songs). it was super fun! i honestly thought i would be embarrassed but the music is so loud, it was such a tight and enclosed space that i didn't care.

i also scored 100 when i sang dumb litty by kard. i'm a certified hidden.

i get how karaoke is so addictive now though!

tomorrow we have a full day planned. wish us luck! we're on a tight timeframe ahh~~

p.s. a bit about yesterday, i tried some korean beer and it was so good. we went to 2 pubs to meet some friends Tracy made through quarantine and they were so nice :) one of them knew all the hot places and took us there! one of them being inside a fridge.. it looks like a grocery store from the outside. you step in, opening a fridge door and there's a whole other world inside! their pasta was bomb.

the other place specialized in beer! and actually all of this is pretty close to our house :D

aside from that, we just went to a cat café yesterday! cute!! i thought of my friend and her cat a lot heh (i think she'll read this <3).

Steve loves decorating the house for Halloween. His parents never used to do it bc they’re kinda stuffy so he likes to go all in, which is absolutely perfect because I ALSO love decorating for Halloween, particularly making paper ghosts. Our front porch is decorated with cobwebs and skeletons, and the front lawn has those cheesy inflatable decorations like a blow-up grim reaper and stuff because he doesn’t know what self-control is when it comes to Spirit Halloween (or the 80s equivalent of Spirit Halloween I guess?)

2. is your f/o from a horror movie/game/series? if not, would you make an AU where they were (like a vampire AU or something similar)?

I think I would count Stranger Things as horror! Though I did just finish watching Train to Busan and truthfully I do love aus so I think a zombie apocalypse au would be so fun.

3. does your f/o even like halloween, or do they like one of the other holidays?

As aforementioned, Steve loves Halloween! Although he does also like Christmas because he likes eggnog and tacky sweaters and presents.

4. what would be your f/o's favorite horror/halloween themed film?

Steve is partial to slashers, so if you ask him, he’ll say Texas Chainsaw Massacre, but he also really, really likes Alien. It’s the reason our daughter’s name is Ripley!

5. what is your f/o's costume this year? tell us yours too!

I’m going as tennis player Barbie, and I think Steve would have soooo much fun with like… tennis player/country club Ken. The tiny shorts. The sweater around the shoulders. The visor. I’m obsessed.

6. do you and your f/o attend any parties/festivals/other events? this can be either for halloween or just for celebrating the fall season!!

Steve and I LOVE Halloween parties, so I think we’d be the couple to try and host one every year!

She had her eyes shining and the softest smile you’ve ever seen. You were taken aback by her natural beauty and her nice figures. You almost dropped your jaw when she came to you with a bubble tea this night, offering you the drink and talked to you about the sea’s freedom like If you have always known her. She was so caring for a girl she didn’t even know that you were speechless. Plus, because of her physical appearance, you thought she was one of those mean girl you couldn’t stand. But she wasn’t. You missed cooking with her, hugging her behind her back while she was pilling some sweet potatoe from her parent’s farm. You missed her touch, how badly you missed feeling her hands on you or resting your head on her chest. You were missing her jokes, even the bad ones. Because, behind her divine beauty, she was one of the funniest girl you knew. You couldn’t live without her and her absence was destroying your heart everytime you were alone. 

You jumped when you heard the door of your appartment being closed and when your eyes met Sooyoung’s ones, you couldn’t believe she was real. You felt she was even more beautiful than the last time you really saw her. It has been few months she had cut her hair but you couldn’t get used to it. Her shorter hair were giving her a different style and It fit her so well that your eyes were grafted on her. She smiled at you and you couldn’t deny that your heart raced immediatly. She had such power on you, It made you feel so vulnerable when It came to her. She was your strength ans your weakness at the same time, and you were the same for her. 

“Finally” you let out with a half angry, half sad tone.

Your heart melt because of her words but you couldn’t forget your anger because of her absence. She couldn’t take some time for you ? At least maybe few hours ? Even your best friend, Siyeon (who you met thanks to your girlfriend), had tried to see you in her free time even If her group had been busy too. Couldn’t Sooyoung do the same ? 

You shook your head and went to the kitchen, drinking a cup of tea, drowning into your own thoughts. Your girlfriend came back few moments later with her favorite volley-ball shorts and high white socks, her abs uncovered by her shirt. You frowned. Do you want to apologize for something Sooyoung ? you thought. She came closer to you and pulled you against her without a word, holding you tight in a meaningful hug, her wet hair making your shive. But you were cold. Too cold for the warm flame she was. She pulled away, looking at you with her intense gaze, her chocolate eyes in your irises.

“Talk to me” she only said with her legendary relaxed tone, caressing your forearm with her delicate and long fingers.

“Your mother called me about a thousand times” you let out after a long silence because your anger were too strong to keep it inside. “She was worried because you didn’t answer to your phone the last past weeks”

Sooyoung felt surprised but she crossed her arms in front of your words.

“She knows I have to work hard. Plus, she calls you everytime just to talk with you and you perfeclty know that” she answered. “Now, can my girlfriend tell me what’s the true reason of her coldness ?”

She knew you too well and the fact that she could read into you like an open book were satisfying but annoying at the same time. You pinched your lips and you felt your eyes darken.

“I know you are busy with the comeback but I couldn’t see you properly for the last months” you declared, harshly. “Couldn’t you take a little time for your girlfriend just once in a week ?”

Sooyoung was taken aback by your violent tone but your words didn’t surprise her because she felt the same. If she had a true calm temper, when her emotions were controling her, she couldn’t stay still and the fire that was animated you took her too.

“Where were you at night when I came back home just to sleep with you in my arms ?” she replied, her face turning into a stone wall. “You were working late when I was working early. I had to wake up and go when you were taking a shower before going to bed. I am not the only one who focused on my work”

When she was like that, you couldn’t really win the arguement. When she turned into the Chinese wall, you couldn’t really fight her because she was always fair and she would stay strong like a pillar in front of everything. You shook your head and started to go away from her but she suddenly grabbed your wrist.

“How can you be like this ?” you almost screamed. “We barely see eachother ! Even when you cut your hair, I discovered it a week later. Do you think this is a couple’s life ?”

“I didn’t tell you because I wanted It to be a surprise for you. And you’re not the only one who felt alone, Y/n. I was here when you were at work and I started to think that you’d like to spend time with you collegues rather than me” she told you. “I even wondered If you had met someone else once”

You widened your eyes, feeling charged unfairly by your gilfriend and you couldn’t answer something without sarcasm in your voice. 

“Are you saying that I am the one who drove us here ?”

“You knew when you started to date with me that my life was different, that I have to work a lot, sometimes don’t sleep for few days and often travel to shoot music videos” she declared, her eyes in yours, a serious expression on her face. “I told you from the start”

You clenched your teeth and quickly pulled away from her, your anger burning your veins. Her words were like arrows for your heart and you were shoked by her words. Did she mean that you had to stay quiet because she warned you from the beginning of you relationship ? Your girlfriend was impressive, her presence filling every room, especially during an arguement but It seemed she had forgot something.

“Do you want to know something ? I started to date Ha Sooyoung”, you finally said and she widened her eyes. “I fell in love with Sooyoung before knowing Yves. I fell for her because she was all that I want in a girl. She is funny, she is smart, she is caring and she is a little bit shy when the attention is on her. She loved you with all her heart, with all the love she could give to someone. She was always talking about you to Chuu, saying that she was the luckiest girl on earth to have a girlfriend like you. She was always annonying Hyejoo, asking her about the new outfit she wanted to buy because she wanted to be perfect for you. She was always spending a lot of time shopping when they were abroad to find you some souvenirs, making her managers worry. You were a part of her and she couldn’t stand the idea of loosing you. She opened her mouth, wanting to say something to show you she was still the same but when she saw tears pearling at your eyes, she changed her mind and listened carefully to the voice she loved the most in the world.

“Sooyoung and Yves are different” you declared, holding back your emotions. “But both are mine”.

Sooyoung’s heart almost exploded in her chest when she heard your words and saw a particular sparkle in your eyes. She then understood. You weren’t fighting, you were opening to her.

“They are mine and you’re a fool to think that I like to share what belongs to me” you let out, feeling finally confident to tell her how you felt. “I miss you everytime you’re gone and I can’t stand your absence anymore. Falling asleep or waking up without your arms around me breaks my heart”

A single tear fell on your cheek while Sooyoung was holding back hers. She shook her head, growling a little because you both starting to fight because of your love for each other and she pulled you in a warm hug that only her can give to you. 

“I am sorry I’ve made you feel abandonned” she only whispered and you felt like It meant everything. “I’m going to take care of my babygirl”

You were walking on the sand, blessed by the sunset and especially by the hand of your girlfriend in yours. After her group’s comeback, Sooyoung had organized a surprise for you and brought you in Busan for vacations. It was your first day and you had spent the entire day with Sooyoung’s parents, happy to have some family dinner with them and to see their smile because they were missing Sooyoung too. When the evening had came, Sooyoung being Sooyoung, she had took you out of the house and brought you to the beach were both of you met and couldn’t deny that your heart melt you realized it.

She laughed and went forward, dancing a little on the sand. The sunlight were revealing even more her beauty and you couldn’t help but fall in love for her again. You met her dark irises and her broad smile and you instantly felt your heart flutter. She was enjoying spending time with you more than anything and seeing her like this, free and blissful, made you feel pleased. 

“Come here babygirl” she shout with joy when she came back to you.

Suddenly, she reached for you and lifted you to walk with you on her back, your legs around her waist, both of you laughing. Sooyoung... “Too bad, we could have enjoyed the warmth of the sun better” she teased and you hit her shoulder with your fist again. 

You shook your head, sighing but still amused.

“Would you do something for me babygirl ?” she asked with an adorable tone and you couldn’t resist to accept. “Close your eyes”

There was a thing about Sooyoung : never trust her when she was in a playful mood. The second you closed your eyes, you felt her muscled legs starting to move really fast and you suddenly felt something cold on your clothes before being thrown entirely in the water while Sooyoung was diving. When you came back to the surface, Sooyoung was already looking at you with a smile and laughed at your widened eyes.

“I should have never give you my phone number” you pretented to be mad while she was pulling you closer to her, your legs around her waist.

“Do you mean it ?” she raised an eyebrow before biting your lower lip, a meaningful sparkle in her eyes.

“I think I meant that It was the best decision I’ve ever made” you grinned at her. “To date Miss Ha Sooyoung” 

“I agree with you” she replied, holding you in her arms in the water, her loving gaze in yours. “I love you more than anything, future Miss Ha Y/n”

“W-What ? Baby-” you stammered, taken off guard but in a good way.

it was the first day of spring, Jimin was coming back from Seoul to Busan and you were so excited to be seeing your older brother again.

The good thing about spring was that it was cold, so there was no reason for you to be showing skin outside--(which was where you and Jimin had planned to spend the whole day; there was a spring festival going on)

Jimin had arrived at crack ass of dawn, so you hadn't been awake at the time of his arrival, but thankfully you were awoken when he had opened the door and it creaked too loudly, and thankfully to you, you were a very light sleeper.

you had ran up and screamed, immediately tackling your older--now blonde - brother in a hug, and Jimin silently giggles, his shoulders shaking, as he wraps his long arms around you as well.

things were going normally for the two of you as the week went by, Jimin was quick to assume you were fine.

but actually, you were far from it.

the scars that littered your arms was a constant reminder on what had happened to you when Jimin left, his fans threatening you, calling you names and insulting you directly through social media. His sasaengs contacting you, asking for your address, you lived in constant fear. fear of what would happen if you obeyed them, not only Jimin would get hurt, but you, and your family would too.

but you didn't want to show Jimin that, you didn't want to show him how weak you are. he was only going to be there for a week, so you decided to make it count.

you should have known that Jimin was family, and no matter how well you'd hide it, he's still find out one way or another. Unfortunately, it had to be today.

"(Y/n)? Park (Y/n)? helloooooo, earth to (Y/n)??" your older brother calls out when you spaced out, he grabs both of your cheeks with his cold hands to grab your attention, "(Y/n)!"

"What? what is it?" You say, startled, "Oh my God, your hands are cold!" you hiss to him, and he laughs.

"Come on, they sell ice cream there, let's get something!" Jimin says, pointing to an ice cream truck that had parked under a tree that was covered in snow, "My treat," he smiles

"Sure, get me mint chocolate," You say, and Jimin scrunches his nose

"Gross! you're just like Jeonggukie and Hoseok, always eating toothpaste," he says, and you laugh at the mentions of his band mates who were also your friends, Jimin then takes out his wallet, "But since you're my annoying sister, I'll spare you. Stay here and I'll get them!" he says, pulling your arm towards a vacant tree and pushing you down to sit before skipping away.

you sat yourself down on the snow covered grass and breathed shakily, gently peeling your sleeve down. It had stung when Jimin pulled you, the cuts weren't fully healed yet and your jacket had rubbed on the scarred skin enough to make you wince, but thankfully, your older brother didn't notice. you pulled your sleeve back down.

Just as you were about to stand back up, a shadow loomed over you.

"That was quic-"

"You fucking bitch!" someone yelled, yanking you by your hair, and you yelped, "So you we're Jimin oppa's girlfriend all along weren't you?!"

You felt tears pooling your eyes at the sudden physical pain. At the mention of Jimin's name, you quickly pieced together that it was one of his delusional fans, you listened to her yelling, and under different circumstances, you would've gagged hearing her call you your own brother's 'girlfriend'.

blinded by rage, she starts to grab at your chin to force you to look at her, she had a scowl on her face and she was pissed.

"Answer me, you fucking bitch!" she yells into your face, her hand strikes for your cheek and you let out a chocked sob, "He doesn't deserve you!"

her hands raise again, and you flinched, but frantic shouting startles you from behind.

"Stop that! let my sister go!" Jimin says, panicked. he drops both of the ice creams in his hands and came running to you, pushing the girl away and stepping in between you two, a heroic yet extremely stupid act on his own behalf. People could've crowded around and took pictures of the act he was putting up, but thankfully the park was mostly empty on a bleak, cold day such as this. "What do you think your doing?!"

The girl, now completely in a daze, because not only did her idol had just pushed her, ('touched her', you can almost hear her delusional mind think that way) , but he had also yelled at her for hurting his sister, sister.

"O-Oppa, I'm s-"

"Go away! just leave us alone, please!" Jimin yelled, but sounded pleading and on the verge of his own tears as he outstretched his arms in an attempt to hide your frame. The girl had no choice but to bow and leave. 

silence followed suit, then Jimin turns around and drops on his knees, pushing your hair from your face, "Let me see you-"

"I'm fine," you say, pushing him off, but your brother was adamant.

"(Y/n), I saw her fucking grab you, stop being so stubborn!" Jimin curses desperately, and his eyes widen when he realised he lashed out, "I didn't mean that, (Y/n),"

You sighed in defeat. Jimin looked so stressed already, so you let him. You shut your eyes as you felt tears resurfacing as he searched your face for bruises, and then your hands.

he had lifted up your sleeves, something you wished he would stay away from. And naturally, he froze at what he found. 

You knew he would've seen it, you just didn't know it would've been today. 

"(Y-Y/n)... she...she didn't do this, did she?.." Jimin asked, his voice was trembling at the sight of the scars on his baby sister's arms, "This was...t-this is you, isn't it?"

you couldn't lie to him, you couldn't. so you nodded slowly, tears starting to stream down your cold, flushed cheeks.

and finally, finally, you broke down.

You couldn't find your voice to reply as you sobbed and sobbed to your brother, but Jimin didn't seem to mind as he lets out his own tears.

Ito’y sumusunod sa buhay ng isang tao na nasa kahirapan ngunit pilit inaahon ang kanyang sarili upang sumagana at makamit ang kanyang mga pangarap. Ginagawa niya ito nang may pagmamahal sa kanyang trabaho at dedikado siya sa kanyang ginagawa. Napapakita rin dito ang pananaw ng mga kilalang mga artista at ibang nag tratrabaho sa industriya sa mga aktor na tulad ni Lilia Cuntapay.

             MORAL:

                       Ang pelikulang “Six Degrees of Separation of Lilia Cuntapay” ay maraming pinapakitang magagandang asal na dapat natin tularan.

           Para sa akin ay ang pelikulang ito’y kakaiba di tulad ng ibang dokyumentaryo na madalas nating nakikita. Kakaunti lamang ang gumagamit ng Mockumentary sa Pilipinas kaya’t ito’y may dating kaysa sa madalas nating napapanood. Maganda ang paraan ng pagpapa hayag nila sa bawat pagsubok, emosyon, at damdamin ni Lilia Cuntapay sa pelikula.

             CONCLUSION:

           Bilang isang estudyante na nangangarap gumawa ng mga pelikula, isa itong magandang ehemplo ng pag papahayag ng kwento sa kakaibang paraan at hindi kung ano lang ang ating mga nakasanayan. Ito ay isang pelikulang mapag kukuhanan ng inspirasyon at makakapag lambot sa puso ng maraming tao.

             Kilala mo ba si Lilia Cuntapay? Siya ay isang actress na kilala bilang “Queen of Philippine Horror Movies” dahil sa kanyang pagganap sa maraming mga horror movies tulad ng Shake, Rattle & Roll III (1991), Aswang (1992), Shake, Rattle & Roll IV (1992), Shake, Rattle & Roll V (1994), Bahay ni Lola 2 (2005), Sukob (20016), at marami pang iba. Karamihan ng papel niya sa mga ginampanang pelikula ay bilang isang aswang o multo. Bagaman siya ay gumanap sa maraming mga pelikula, hindi niya parin nakukuha ang pansin o recognition na nararapat sa kanya.

            Ang pelikulang Six Degrees of Separation from Lilia Cuntapay, na dinerekta ni Antoinette Jadaone, ay isang Mockumentary o Mock Documentary na inilabas noong 2011. Kailangan muna siyang ilarawan upang maalala ng mga tao kung sino siya. Sa pagsalita, pisikal, at interaksyon ng mga ibang tao kay Lilia Cuntapay maiisip natin na siya ay simpleng tao lamang tulad natin. Tayo, na mayroon ring mga pangarap para sa ating buhay.

            Hindi lamang si Lilia ang magaling dito kundi pati rin ang kanyang mga kasama sa tahanan at ang kanyang mga kapitbahay. Ang mga kasama ni Lilia ay nakatulong sa pagpakita ng kanyang mga emosyon tulad ng kanyang lungkot at saya sa iba’t ibang mga nangyari. Nagpakita sila ng mga tunay na damdamin at hindi nagpahalata na sila lamang ay umaarte. Isa rin ito sa mga rason kung bakit inakala ko na tunay ang palabas na ito at hindi lamang isang mockumentary.

            Walang nagsasalaysay sa kwento kundi ang pagsalaysay ng pelikulang ito ay sa paraang pagtatanong ng ating direktor, hindi lamang kay Lilia, kundi sa iba’t ibang mga tao. Makikita natin ito sa 2nd point-of-view, dahil ang buong ito ay galing sa mata o kamera ng ating direktor.

            Sa isyung teknikal, mahusay ang camera work ng direktor dahil makikita natin, sa mga paglipat ng kamera at pag zoom in, ang mga damdamin ng mga karakter. Ang simpleng pagsunod sa reaksyon ni Lilia ay malaking tulong sa paghatid ng damdamin sa mga manonood. Ang lighting at sound effects na nagamit ay nakatuliong sa pagbigay ng hilaw o raw feeling sa mockumentary na ito. Ang paggamit ng voice over ay nakatulong upang hindi mainip ang mga manonood sa mga nangyayari.

            Dahil sa mga elemento na nabanggit ko sa itaas, Ang Six Degrees of Separation from Lilia Cuntapay ay nanalo ng maraming mga parangal. Nanalo ang pelikula sa Best Screenplay, Best Editing, Audience Choice Award, at Special Jury Prize sa Cinema One Originals Digital Film Festival noong 2011, at nabigyan na rin ng pansin o recognition si Lilia Cuntapay matapos siyang ma parangalan bilang Best Actres. I’m back from Korea

I feel like October didn’t happen at all .. but at the same time, it happened & it happened too quickly =/

I was away for 2.5 weeks in Korea, & then when I came back, it was a mini series of night shifts so I practically did nothing. .. & by the time I realized it, it was Halloween & I was working evening shifts so I didn’t go out. O_O it has been 1 crazy month. But November is here now, & things are returning back to normal: my vacation withdrawal is over, & I have some “normal” combo of shifts, & it’s time to say bye-bye to the hot weather. It’s gonna be great~

Okay, let’s be real: I’m never “over” a Korea trip lol the other day, I was really craving that budae jjigae. The struggle was real. So I made it for lunch ^^

For my 1st return post, I’ve decided to keep things simple & just share a brief summary of my 2.5 week-long trip with you!

Day 1-4: I stayed at my usual Seoul home, Namsan Hill Hotel. I was unable to book a longer stay at this place =( These 1st few days, I revisited some places in Seoul: Namdaemun (for hand-cut noodles called “kalguksu”); Sinchon/Ewha Womens Univ area/Hongik Univ area for shopping & ; Gyeongbokgung area for Tongin Market & some art museums; Insadong/Samcheongdong/Bukchon Hanok Village for some relaxing strolls around traditional Korean housing. Some new places I went to include:

- a cafe called “Kopi Han-yak-bang” (lit. trans.: “coffee Korean pharmacy”). Look it up! It’s super cool! The owner believes coffee has a healing power, just like traditional herbal medicine, so the cafe is like a vintage herbal medicine shop/pharmacy. It feels as if you’re entering a movie set rather than a cafe.

- The Skyfarm for brunch! Pretty place with amazing view of Seoul.

- Seongsu area for industrial warehouse cafes. It was a valuable & memorable experience bcos Seongsu used to be an area for large factories (making of leather products & shoes, & car-fixing shops), but it’s revitalizing & the large factory spaces are now being converted to hip coffeeshops. Many of which do collabs with local/emerging artists & fashion designers so there’s lots of artsy things to see in these coffeeshops.

- Seoul Forest. There’s like a picnic area, some basketball & tennis courts, walking trails, etc. .. I had a convenience store goods dinner in the picnic area, & watched the sunset there.

Day 5-8: I moved over to Savoy Hotel located in the heart of Myeongdong. It’s ~15min walk away from Namsan Hill Hotel. Great location but also quite loud. My options were slim when I was booking stuff, & I needed to stay close to Seoul Station bcos I arranged 4x 1-day trips! I didn’t realize it at first but then I was like, “I have 4 back-to-back day trips right now.” I was essentially out every day from like 0700h to 2100h.

Trip 1: Paju~ for Heyri Art Village & Provence. I have been to these places before & really liked it so I went back, esp Heyri Art Village. After the day trip, I met up with 2 of my coworkers for K-BBQ in the Hapjeong area.

Trip 2: Jeonju~ I only went to 1 place in Jeonju & that was the Jeonju Hanok Village. It was raining all day that day. However, it was still very enjoyable. The village was a beautiful place, & under the rain, it looked even more picturesque.

Trip 3: Incheon~ for Incheon Chinatown & Wolmido, which is an island connected to Incheon via a highway. Due to its close proximity to China, Incheon became a major port for trades back in the day, & the Chinese immigrants basically settled here, hence it’s the largest Chinatown in Korea. I met up with my friend Ji Yoon in Chinatown & we spent some time catching up.

Trip 4: Gangneung~ For the annual Gangneung Coffee Festival; its title was “Voices of Coffee” this year! It was held at the Gangneung Olympic Ice Arena. I can’t recall how many shots of coffee samples I had that day, but it was a lot. I also went to the Anmok Coffee Street, which is a line of cafes along Anmok Beach - all the cafes face the beach so the view is pretty. Even more so on the day I went bcos it was cloudy =]

Day 9: remained in Seoul today. Went to the Seoul Botanic Garden, which opened its doors in May 2019. Very pretty displays~ Huuuuuge space too. It was like Telus World x Muttart Conservatory x Devonian Botanic Garden. Lots to see, & if you go, allot more time for yourself here. & then in the evening, I camped out by Yeouido Hangang Park for the annual Seoul International Fireworks Festival, which was named “Life is Colourful” this year. So many ppl! I was expecting that before going but it was beyond my imagination. It was truly an experience- the streets were blocked off for pedestrian traffic & literally, it took like 10mins to move 5meters after the show as over! Then at the subway station nearby, there was a bottleneck, where apparently the capacity inside the underground station was reached so we needed to wait outside the exit.. . still, it was fun!

Day 10-12: 1 way train ticket to Busan. Yes, train to Busan ;) I was safe though hehe Busan was beautiful! In hindsight, I should’ve spent more time here but . .. NEXT TIME! I went to BIFF Square & Gukje Market, which was like across from my hotel, Stanford Inn Busan. Gamcheon Cultural Village was super cute; although I would hate being a resident there =/ The Busan Int’l Film Festival was happening then, & I visited the Expo & Convention Centre for the film market. Can’t go into the exhibition, but that whole area was filled with ads/posters of BIFF - it was a big deal! It was cool to witness such a big event & to experience the sheer scale of it. I then went to Shinsegae Centum City, which is the largest shopping complex in the world.  Haeundae Beach was also cool. I went on a cloudy day & it was awesome! That same evening/night, I checked out the Jagalchi Fish Market, which is the largest seafood market in Korea. It has 7 floors total, with 3 underground parking levels :O On the last day, bcos I only had the morning available to do stuff, I had Busan fish cake for breakfast & strolled in BIFF Square again.

*Note: I actually hit all the things on my itinerary EXCEPT for the Busan Museum of Art, which was closed on Mondays =( but the security guy let me in to see the lobby bcos he knew I was a tourist. Thank you!

Day 13-17: Flew from Busan Airport to Jeju Airport. I used more time than needed for the whole process- turned out foreigners have their own line at the Busan Airport, so it’s faster than locals. There’s also a domestic terminal & international terminal, so from arrival to being checked in & through security.. . it took less than 25mins. It was great! In regards to Jeju, I did the following:

- stayed in Jeju City for the arrival afternoon/evening, with my hotel being Astar Hotel. Had a street food dinner at Dongmun Market; they were having this night market/festival event so a bunch of street food stalls were open from 7pm-midnight. Smelled like heaven haha

- I did my 1st hike ever on Hallasan Mountain, specifically the Gwaneunsa Trail, & I reached the peak. It was.. . hard. I can’t say I particularly enjoyed it; however, it has proven to me that I am a land person, & I belong in museums, cafes, & street walking lol. Look up the details of the trail! Was it ambitious of me to go on this for my 1st hike ever. .. without any hiking gear? I went with what some ppl would consider gym shoes, a hoodie, leggings, & a backpack with water, juice, kimbaps, 2 bananas, 6 mandarins, & some snacks (cheese crisps & pineapple cream-flavoured crackers).

- The day after the hike, my legs were still okay. But it was my glut that was starting to get sore XD I went to Osulloc Tea Museum & Innisfree Jeju House. The aesthetics <3

- Went to Black Pig Street for black pig bbq. I was hoping a restaurant or two was taking solo-diners & thankfully, the 2nd restaurant I asked did! I ordered pork neck instead of pork belly - it was quite tender & kinda chewy, actually. Later that evening, I went to the Tamra Cultural Festival 2019. It was neat~ There was an outdoor night market, as well as a stage for cultural dance/play/music.

- Jeju Island is actually quite small, & it takes approx. an hour from 1 side of the island to the other side. Thus, for my 3rd (full) day, I went to the Jungmun (Jeju City is north of the island; Jungmun is south coast) & visited the Yellow Cafe, Chocolate Land, Ripley’s Believe It or Not Museum, & Yeomiji Botanical Garden.

- From Jungmun, I took a local bus to Lee Jong Seop Street in Seogwipo, the next city over. The street is very pleasant & chill, with artwork along the street, coffeeshops & eateries, as well as little gift shops. Totally my thing! It reminds me Bukchon Hanok Village in terms of vibe, but minus the traditional housing look. The Seogwipo Olle Market is nearby, & is a great place to buy Jeju souvenirs. The pricing, I heard/read, is cheaper than Dongmun Market in Jeju City - it is true! There are also less tourists here, which was what made it enjoyable for me, personally.

- Only the morning on my last day was free for activities bcos my flight to Seoul was early afternoon. I visited the area around Jeju City Hall, which was ~20min walk from my hotel. It was a very leisurely morning, where I sat down & enjoyed coffee at Coffee Finder & had a build-your-own-ramen bowl at a place nearby. The architecture of Coffee Finder was unique; it used to be a 2-floor house, with like a driveway/sidewalk. But the ummm first floor ceiling/second floor flooring was knocked down so there’s a “hole” in the middle of the cafe. The cafe has very homely vibes as the placement of tables/chairs are in what was (at one point) rooms of the house. It’s open but also you can get some privacy at the same time.

Day 17-18: Back to Seoul, & stayed at Namsan Hill Hotel~ Itaewon is a must! I need to go to Passion 5 every time lol. & I also revisited the Leeum Samsung Museum of Art bcos I like it. & then I had my last day as a “free” day, where I didn’t plan ANYTHING. I’m a very intense planner & when I go on trips, I literally plan to the minute haha & guess what, I ended up in Hongdae. Honestly, it’s my kinda place. Sadly, the transportation situation there isn’t convenient for the rest of my itinerary, or else I would choose a hotel that’s in the vicinity. I nearly spent 2.5 hrs at Coin Su Noraebang haha I realized that if you score high enough, time gets added to your paid time :O I can’t let that go to waste =P

PS: I haven’t decided what/how I’m gonna go about posting my trip. .. There are wayyyy too many photos & it will take me a million yrs to write/upload. Perhaps expect unexpected Korea posts scattered between my regular posts :P I will, however, share with you the coffees I’ve had in Korea. I tried diff ones, from franchise to small local cafes, adventurous flavours & the typical black Americano. I didn’t have any poor experiences but there was 1 particular one that I will likely never order again - tbh, I should’ve expected it but I still went for it anyway *shrugs* so I guess it was all my fault haha ok, I’ll ttyl~!

Social media is all talk about Hanbit after his dance masterclass

Two days after the very first Busan Summer Festival kicked off, a local arts High School in Busan held another round of skill masterclasses with idols leading the way. One in particular, a dance masterclass, was filled with excitement when senior idol, Decipher’s Hanbit, walked through the door. A few students on social media said the crowd had gotten loud and Hanbit was full of smiles, as well as a little shy during the whole ordeal. Photos on Instagram and Twitter quickly popped up of Hanbit with a lot of comments like “I can’t believe Hanbit is at my school ㅠㅠ” “Hanbit is so handsome in person!” “Hanbit-oppa lifted up his shirt a bit, I’m dying.” Though, that was only the start of long talks about Hanbit during the event. A few more students online shared their experiences with Hanbit, saying that he talked to each and every student attending, as well as helping them out with any issues they may have had in the craft of dancing. He was even sure to make sure every had stretched properly before beginning. After a while of spending personal time with students and talking, he started to teach a portion of the masterclass, where he shared choreography for the American song “Needed Me” by artist “Rihanna.” He later shared a video of it on Instagram, with a caption reading:

“Hello ~~~ I wanted to share with everyone what I did at a local arts high school in Busan today! I worked really hard and came up with choreography for Rihanna’s “needed me” because I wanted to do and teach something special to the students ^^! ah, everyone was so incredible and so so talented, o was really blown away by all the students who participated today. Anyways, I hope you really like the video the students and I did after they successfully learned the choreography today! please support them hard! I hope your day is wonderful, stay cool, and eat ice cream for me! ~ “

It quickly began to rise in likes and comments, praising the choreography on how clean and cut it was. As well as receiving praise for going out of his way to create new choreography to share with the very lucky students.

One fan online also shared an experience saying that a younger high school student had fallen during the class and Hanbit had quickly stopped the class to help the student up, as well as to make sure she was okay. Which seemed to melt the hearts of some of the other students. There was also not much of a shocker there, since the idol is very much known for a warm personality.

With more and more talks of Hanbit popping up on social media, it’s safe to say he’s the talk of social media for a little while.
