The Criminal Mastermind, Part 1. (Love's Wrecks, Part 8.)

Description: Heartbreak is one hell of a bitch. And one Edward Teach could tell you all about it. Yet thanks to Fate being a little trickster, there’s a person who enters his life to remind him of how nice it is of having someone he can confide in, someone he can care about, and someone he can trust. To remind him, what it means to have a friend for better or worse.

Part Summary: Back on board the Revenge, the crew was up to its usual shenanigans - unfortunately, it wall becoming a bit too much for all of you. And therefore, you decide to figure out something that would allow you to have a break.

A/N: Uh, so obviously I have disappeared for a long, long time and I had to find my way back into writing and continuing this series naturally. I had a plot point I wanted to get across in mind, I know what part of the story we are in. I just wanted to go back to approaching it with sense and emotion, and I found out that if I'll want to have the characters have a good dialogue, these chapters will be long as hell. Therefore, I decided to divide this chapter into 2 parts. :)

Anyone on board the ship understood how it happened or how did you manage to lure Edward out in the first place, but they started seeing their captain way more than once every two, three weeks. Each noon, he’d take a stroll around the ship to check that everything was in place, so he could greet and chat with his crew before he'd disappear once more; it could be felt that the captain's presence is making everyone's mood a bit better. Besides boosting the overall morale, it ensured that Izzy's competencies as Ed's right hand were heavily reduced. Now, he couldn't bully anyone into oblivion no matter how much he wanted to - sure, you were still just "useless fucking fuckers", "a bunch of twats and morons" and "brainless idiots", but he couldn't throw anyone overboard just for his amusement. It could be felt that Edward is slowly picking up the reigns of captainhood by chatting with all the men and asking about what is on their minds, by giving them direct orders, and occasionally, he stuck around for long enough to laugh upon hearing their newest, craziest stories. This was pushing Izzy off his usurped pedestal - now, he pretty much resembled a small and ugly dog who was all bark and no bite, which was funny enough to watch in itself.

Captain’s presence could be also felt in the way boys approached their tasks, completing each one with much more enthusiasm and care than before. The ship was in a better shape now when compared to whatever you guys were doing in the past few weeks; by all means, it all looked the same, but it felt so different. It felt much better.

While clearing your throat, you wiggled to find a better position to lay in while putting one of your palms below your head. It was yet another lazy afternoon on board the Revenge, just after you and Pete finished playing a game of tennis in the subdeck - needles to say that he managed to roll you over once more simply because he knew the actual rules, while you had to learn step by step; sadly for him, you were catching up at a fast pace. Now, it was time to lay down, close your eyes, and suntan during your afternoon siesta. This time, Frenchie and Roach joined you; there wasn't a word spoken and the air was beautifully warm and humid just enough, almost refreshing.

Now, at this hour of the day, the sunshine was dim and less direct so it was pleasant for you to bask in it for hours on end. Sure, each of you had responsibilities they were supposed to be doing, but afternoon siesta was way more important than whatever it was all three of you were supposed to be doing. As you sighed, clearly lost in your thoughts, Frenchie turned his head to you and asked you about what you were thinking of. "I'm just thinking... It's amazing that we were able to get the captain out of his quarters, but he's still kind of meh and keeps to himself." - You mumbled, making both of the men hum in agreement. - "So... What if we'd prepare some sort of fun activity for him, you know? That's where I bumped into an issue - I don't know, what is that something that he enjoys? Something that really fills his guts with excitement?" "Let me see. The screams of innocent people, seeing ships going down in flames, watching his portrait on wanted posters..." - "Also, plundering, pillaging, stealing, setting stuff on fire in general, making people scared, I'm fifty-fifty on torture... Music and art if he's in the right head space. You can choose, really." - Roach counted on his fingers, making you lazily turn your head to look at him. "Is there anything that isn't listed as a crime except the last two?" "No, I don't think so." - Frenchie answered this time, Roach immediately seconding his words. - "It's a pirate captain first and foremost."

"But I don't wanna sink another ship, guys, that's all we're about these days. Wasn't the French one enough for this week? We split the treasures and all of the sweets pretty equally. And we also traded all of the captives for a decent amount of gunpowder." - One of the guys wanted to object, but you shushed them even before they managed to take a breath. - "I remember that happening just because Wee John was giggling as he rolled the barrels on board - he even wished them good night. You all got your fair share of plundering this week." "Uhm, Y/N, I don't know if you caught up with that information yet..." - Frenchie sat up, waving his palms around in a grandiose gesture. - "But you are kind of a pirate now. That's kind of what we do, it's our whole thing."

For a bit, you were looking at each other; you were furrowing and Frenchie was looking at you with his mouth open and eyebrows rose, as if he was waiting for the information to click inside your brain; at which you had to roll your eyes and scoff. Roach, on the other hand, couldn't be more unbothered by the topic of your conversation - he rose his hands above his head, spreading all over the wooden part of the deck. He loved to tan. - "Okay, fair, you got a point Frenchie. Nonetheless, I don't think that's what I'd like to do to cheer him up." "Fine, what would you like to do, then?" "What about something that can be could be taken as a minor offense? Let's steal a... Barrel of oranges or a bolt of fabric." - You proposed, having Roach giggle and Frenchie look at you with confusion.

"I don't recall that anyone would be calling Blackbeard the 'Orange stealing pirate'. Let me tell you that if you'd be out there pirating on your own, you'd be a horrible pirate." - The man muttered, laying back onto the deck himself as he shook his head with peals of genuine laughter. Stealing oranges, wow. You could be out of this world at times. "If I was somewhere out there on my own, I wouldn't be in the pirate business at all, just to remind you." - With that, you picked yourself up and stretched your back with a long, lazy yawn. The sky was slowly getting darker, so it was an ideal time to brew some tea and carry it to Edward's quarters. - "You two better come up with something interesting then, sir pirates. I'm off!"

While humming one of Frenchie's lute songs you walked into the kitchen, just to see absolute havoc breaking out in there. Swede was laying on the kitchen table, screaming for his dear life, while Buttons was standing at the head of the table - holding a cleaver risen above his head. The smile he had on his face was terrifying, to say the least.

Olu must've found this situation going on since he was trying to defuse the situation; he was asking Buttons to take it nice and easy, to put the cleaver down, and to talk it through... As a crew. Needless to say, it had little to no effect on Buttons. While the three men were to screaming at each other unintelligibly, you carefully tiptoed behind Buttons, knocking the cleaver out of his palm. The blade of the kitchen tool slid into a small cranny between the wooden planks, not falling through thanks to the handle. Which, of course, prompted Lucius to squeal in surprise. As everyone in the kitchen fell silent, you could hear Lucius' mumbling coming from the subdeck before he fell silent.

"What in the world is going on here? Are you two rehearsing a murder scene up in here or is it that finger thing of yours, Buttons?" - You asked tiredly, snatching the cleaver away from Buttons' proximity to put it back in its place, nudging his shoulder. It was the finger thing that was driving Buttons in the last few days, so you knew that he neither Swede planning on performing any sort of play anytime soon. - "That's the third time this week alone, Buttons. We're getting fucking sick of it. Olu, take that poor man away from here and tell Pete to look after him for a bit, thank you." "But..." - Buttons objected, making you turn your face to him once more. "No buts or butts. Come on, what did we say about eating, sewering, or cutting parts off your crewmates, eh? This is also Roach's favorite cleaver, he would get upset if you'd..." - With an exhale, you put a pot of water on the stove to start brewing, leaving your elbows on the counter with your eyebrows risen. Olu was helping Swede off the table in the meantime.

"Olivia told me I need to finish this ritual before the next moonglow baskin'." - The guy told you with a serious expression, rising his chin up and popping his eyes out as he tended to usually do when he wanted to appear terrifying or mysterious. Unfortunately, it was to no avail. - "Need to get one finger, notin' more." "And I'll tell you once again that there are various ways of acquiring a human finger. You can haggle it on the black market next Harbor day or something! Mother of Christ, you don't cut it off your friends! We kinda need the crew around in case you haven't figured yet."

"What if ya gimme one of yours, lassie?" - Buttons asked with his eyes narrowed, walking closer to you. Whatever happened to him, he was seriously out of touch this time, freaking you the hell out. And, of course, of all people, he had to corner Swede... The biggest blunt man on the ship. "Out. "Won't even hurt a bit, I promise." "I said out. Go. Now. Bye." - And with another exhausted sigh, you watched as Buttons walked out of the kitchen with intense mumbling right as Olu came back. After Buttons was truly gone, you both just leaned into the counter and stretched the napes of your necks, not believing anything that was just happening right in front of your eyes.

"What is going on? It's been barely two days since Buttons attempted to cut Fang's finger off while he was asleep - good thing Jim was coming back from the toilet that night." - You said, walking to the stove to check the pot, steering the water a bit. - "Why would anyone in their right mind want to cut off someone's finger anyway?" "Something tells me you've just answered yourself." - Oluwande muttered out, watching you prepare the tray and the tea itself. - "In their right mind, see? We don't know where is Buttons from, but people must've been insane there. I think we all need to catch a bit of breath, you know? We need to relax and have a bit of fun. The last two weeks were a killer, even Jim is pretty on edge the last few days."

"Uh-uh, that's not a bad idea, Olu. Truly. What do you usually do when you need to catch a bit of breath? Haven't been part of this kind of crisis yet." - While asking the question, you were preparing also a piece of pie on a small plate with gold-laced edges, your newest savaging find. - "Do you... Tie Buttons to the musk so he wouldn't eat anyone on the ship? Let Swede pretend he's your mermaid by letting him sing all day long? Maybe a bit of wrestle matching in the subdeck with Pete and Wee John? Hard to tell, actually."

"All of that sounds tempting, one way or another." - The man answered with an amused scoff, helping you fetch the sugar and milk. - "Truth is that any of us really knows. It was usually Stede who made us slow down and sit down, who came up with a certain activity and let us do that until we talked about what was going on inside our heads, because he believed bottling everything up hurts us even more. I can see in hindsight that he knew what he was doing, it was pretty relieving." "Stede sounds like a really wise man." - You smiled sentimentally, pouring hot water into the kettle, preparing the herb mixture to brew.

"Well, since you bit the topic of Stede... How are things the captain? Have you talked about them yet? Or anything else he should know?" - Olu eyed you down, holding the door open for you as you balanced the tray in your palms. - "We did... If Stede's what you're talking about. I mean, he definitely didn't share the details, but I came to my understanding of how everything went down. There are other things I still need to tell him, but, all of them are tricky." "Don't bottle it up." - Olu sighed. "As I said, Stede is a wise man." - With that, you set out on your way. - "Oh, by the way, Olu." - You whispered, turning your head back to Olu, making him come closer. - "Go to Lucius and ask him for another fairytale book, we're almost done with Andersen." "Will do, ma'am."

As usual, Edward was sitting in his huge, plushy chair - this time, he was sitting in front of an opened window with his ankles laying in the window frame as he stared onto the land appearing on the horizon. Upon watching you enter, the man sent a smile your way before picking himself up and helping you set the tea. After the whole 'basking in the moonglow' hurray project you came up with, something had shifted between the two of you - you couldn't quite put your finger on it or name it, neither you wanted to, but everything suddenly felt more personal from that point on... The atmosphere was different. And it necessarily wasn't a bad thing. Oftentimes, Edward started noticing small itsy-bitsy details you'd never suspect him to register; one time, that was a week ago, the man extolled the fabric of your new shirt which was given to you by Lucius, freshly cleaned and everything. He also noted that the color of it suited your eyes very nicely - and you'd never suspect the man could be into anything fashion-related in the first place. Lucius, upon hearing the prases you've been given, grinned and bumped your shoulder with his palm.

This time certainly wasn't going to be an exception. Just upon looking at you, Edward noticed that the black circles under your eyes deepened a bit and that your eyes weren't as glowy as per usual, immediately chiming in on it. - "Well, you're looking fucking exhausted. Something happened, something I would need to know about? Are they giving you a hard time?" - The captain said as he poured you a cup and pushed it closer to you, trying not to dwell on you with his gaze for too long. "Buttons tried butchering a member of the crew again, Swede from all of the people this time. Remember how I told you about the whole Fang thing? How Buttons wants someone's finger?" "Mhm, certainly do." "That nut job just picked up Roach's best cleaver and cornered Swede on the kitchen table... And you know how simple can Swede get at times, so he was just lying there like a dog waiting for his treat. I swear... If Buttons murders someone, it's not on me."

"That sounds like something I'd laugh at, not gonna lie." - Edward muttered out with a scoff in while pushing another chair next to his one; this one was for you. He wanted you to join him in staring at the mainland on the horizon... Which certainly could be another relaxing activity to do in the afternoon. You caught yourself enjoying it quite a lot. "Fun? Try coming and calming the havoc down; Buttons hissing and mumbling god knows what, Swede is screaming at the top of his lungs and Olu is sweating, waving his palms around chaotically, trying to defuse the tension; God bless him. And after we managed to get Swede out, Buttons turns to me, and will all the audacity he asks me, if I'd give him my finger." "If it gets fucking bad, you know you have my permission to lock Buttons in the closet until he gets over it." - The man reminded you, sitting beside you while letting out a long exhale.

"Well, while talking about 'getting over it', there's this one thing,, actually." - You assumed, leaning into the back of the chair with a contained smile. - "Shoot, I'm all ears." "Olu said that the crew used to do some stuff which let them express what was worrying them, back in the day... What I mean is that they got it all out and felt better afterward, you see?" - Even though the pitch was subtle and you didn't mention Stede's name either, Edward precisely knew what you meant. Grinning, he hummed and prompted you to carry on. - "I wondered if you'd maybe know about something? These guys really need a breather." "Sorry to disappoint, but none of that was never my area." - Blackbeard muttered almost immediately, using the tone that usually signaled you to back off. For a moment, you were both silently staring off into the distance; you didn't speak up solely because you could basically hear the thoughts going through Edward's head.- "On the other hand, if you'd come up with something, full send it. I'll make sure Izzy won't bother you."

"I'm taking your word on that." - Agreeing on said matter, you started asking him about his day and what was on his mind, chatting away as you always did. And as per usual, it turned into a pretty interesting conversation and to your surprise, you learned that Edward is planning on anchoring in one of the nearby towns to restock. But this time, it wasn't to be any small village located at the end of the world but rather a whole ass big town. At first, you didn't seem to realize what he was trying to get across, yet when you did, you froze for a bit. "Oh." - Was all you said upon the realization. The next question was uttered in a quiet trembling voice that almost brought Ed's heart to the edge of breaking. - "But... I'm a member of the crew now, am I not?"

"You adapted well and did everything you had been asked for and even more than that, for sure, but, you see..." - The man clicked his tongue and looked at you with an unhappy furrow. - "There's this whole drama about you being the wife of Judge Trott and I don't think I'll manage to change Izzy's mind this time." There was a pretty long moment when you two simply remained staring back at one another, the idyl being suddenly thrown out of the window and long forgotten. To be frank, you hoped that maybe, just maybe, Ed would forget about the whole selling you into slavery ordeal.

Since you've joined the crew, you have found yourself at the center of defusing many conflicts... For example, it was you who talked Wee John out of trading two barrels of gunpowder for one of the teacups Edward really adored, it was you who spoke to Roach regarding his torturing tendencies (and persuaded him into not giving in to them) and first and foremost, it was you who was spending their time reading the crew bedtime stories; if he'd need more proof, it was you who came up with the birthday party idea and who also swayed said birthday man from cutting a finger off his crewmate - multiple times. Blackbeard's men liked you, they were glad that you were around... And you knew that Ed must've been enjoying himself to one degree or another. Given how quickly all emotion evaporated out of your face, Ed could easily recognize that you became distressed. The glow out of your eyes disappeared altogether, your lips were opening and parting on their own as you tried coming up with an answer, shaking your head in the end. With a sigh, you put your cup on the side of your chair and picked yourself up to clean the morning tea off the table so you could leave the cabin. At least he told you only the day before you were supposed to go which was pretty considerate of him.

You could... Spend the night on your own at the very beginning of the deck; there was a small, secluded corner right under it, a small ridge that was hardly accessible for everyone but you. It was Lucius who told you about the spot and you went there anytime you simply needed to catch a breath. The night was seemingly going to be warm, so the air would be gently breezing, letting you close your eyes as you'd breathe in the fresh, salty air and let droplets of water fall on your skin. It would be pretty nice to do before you'd have to... Work somewhere in utter, deep dirt while listening to every order and get whipped in case you would misbehave - in case you wouldn't be considered to be just a piece of meat.

"Y/N, come on, I didn't mean it like that. I don't want you to go." "I just... Forgot about this entire deal. For quite some time, this ship started feeling like home to me, I've..." - You wanted to tell Edward how much you appreciated his hospitality and that thanks to all of his men, you felt like you found a place to which you belonged. They were treating you as their equal, always made sure that there was anything bugging you off or ailing you, who made you laugh all the time, and who felt like... Family. As insane as it seemed, they felt like family. All of them. - "It's nice that you'd like me to stay and join your crew for a bit more, captain, but... Honestly, it'll just be better to get on with it like the civilized, adult folk we are." Upon hearing your tone and all of the posh, formal phrases you decided to use, Edward rolled his eyes and scoffed without any sign of amusement.

Frankly, Edward was keen on forgetting the whole deal too - you weren't by any means the best pirate he had bumped into, quite the opposite in fact. But by being your least-pirate self, you were proving that even an ordinary posh lady could be helpful. And... The man even had to admit that his selfish self wasn't ready to see you go just yet; as of that time frame, you were the one who was taking most of the baggage off his mind, who talked to him about everything and anything, someone who became his great friend, who made him feel there's still light and love present in the world around him, that he doesn't have to be only the Blackbeard everyone was so terrified of and... He liked you. In what way precisely Ed wasn't sure yet, he simply knew that he liked having you around.

"Shut it for a moment, will you? I totally put it wrong. The last time I made a similar pack with Izzy, I wasn't able to change his mind and it almost cost us the life of the entire crew - he's very stubborn and vengeful when it comes down to it. But I haven't said I won't be trying to change his mind again." - Saying that, the man stood up and watched as you put the porcelain down, looking back at him. Your expression hasn't changed a single bit; if anything, you were looking more pissed than before. - "Fuck, listen - I appreciate you as my company, wench. You're everyone's friend and the crew would mutiny and throw me overboard if I'd let you get sold off now. Regardless if you're the wife of Judge fucking Trott or not, why would I care? If you'd like to get out, just say the word. I'll make it happen. If not... Stay for now."

"Are you being serious or are you just making sure I won't freak out?" "Listen closely." - Blackbeard pointed his finger at you and furrowed, his already dark eyes darkening a bit more. - "I've been a lot of things throughout my life, okay? A captain, a pirate, a whoreson, a murderer, a plunderer, a thief... But I've never been a fucking liar." It was this statement of his that brought to the other topic you wished to discuss. The longer you've been putting on the Mrs. Trott mascarade in front of Edward, the worse you felt. By that point, it felt like it didn't even matter if you were just a simple servant or a posh lady, it wouldn't change anything about the dynamic you and Edward carefully created step by step.

Edward Teach might not have been a liar, but you sure were... Weren't you? The silence in the cabin was getting pretty loud as you slowly inhaled, leaning your palms into the desk of the table. It was probably the time to tell Edward that you might've not been exactly who he thought you were the entire time, it was the time to get it off your chest. No way in hell he'd get a lot of money for you, in case anyone would pay him for a mediocre-looking slave like yourself. Especially if the entire story behind it was crafted by you, Olu and Frenchie. Did Trott even have a wife? How on Earth would any of you know? You were just mediocre fucking pirates trying to make a living.

"It's pretty strange to bring this up, but I already knew it would come sooner or later. We need to talk about something, I feel like." - The entire posture of your body was telling Edward that you weren't feeling comfortable at all; your gaze was shooting all around the room while you started to tap a melody onto the wood. - "Just promise me you won't freak out or anything. You see, it's funny, but my name..." The confession was on the tip of your tongue and it almost flew out of your mouth; but at the last second, Izzy swung the door wide open. If that didn't happen, you'd tell Teach all about how you came up with a cover-up story and you'd explain to him that you were just a poor servant who was sailing along with their ma'am and found themselves caught up in the middle of a naval battle. That's who you were and against all the odds, you were pretty positive about Edward being cool with it - for some reason, you were positive that this could be a hilarious story to bring up at some pirate gathering or whatnot; if pirates gathered, that was. Yet, the moment was disrupted when you stepped away from the wooden desk, shyly looking away while picking up the tray once more. As soon as Izzy started rambling about Buttons' deteriorating mental state, about which you already reported to Edward, you knew that the chance was gone. And you also acknowledge that it will take you a long time to gather up enough confidence to bring it up again. You disappeared quietly, without interrupting the conversation; mainly because everything Izzy historically muttered to the captain was hilarious in itself and you didn't wanna miss a word from the rat's monologue. Just as you were closing the door, you nodded at Teach with a genuine thankful smile and left them to it.

It was hard to keep yourself relaxed and make sure your mind was in order as you tried to fall asleep. The men were sleeping around you, snoring loudly; Frenchie, who was commissioned with having the night watch sleeping in the crow nest as well. The air was warm, the sky was clear and the ship was swaying gently from side to side, but even the view of the stars wasn't enough to lull you to sleep. No matter how much you tried, even through believing in Ed's promise, there was some sort of panic arising inside of your chest. You were so off, in fact, that when you heard the crew yapping and bicker during dinner time, you just stabbed the tip of your knife into the wooden deck, storming out of the room with little to no explanation just so you could take in a fresh breath.

The entire morning, as you prepared the ship for docking and made sure that everything is tidied up and in its place; like the rigging and the lock on the door leading to your gunpowder supplies since Wee John was weirdly keen on staying behind just to look after it. Olu and Roach, as usual, put together a grocery list that needed to be bought so you wouldn't starve for the next week. The entire time, your stomach was grumbling and your palms were shaking as you attempted to fold the ropes into neat loops and knots, just as Buttons taught you; everyone else seemed to be in a good mood overall, they were ready to spend their afternoon in a normal city for one... Not realizing that your entire future might've been on the line that morning. And you weren't to ruin the mood for them.

By the time Pete and Olu disembarked to make sure the ship is properly anchored and to talk to the person who was overseeing the docks, you were practically breaking down. The worst part was that you were barely being overly dramatic; there were tears in your eyes, your breathing was incredibly shallow, and your head? Your head was empty. As you saw Izzy eyeing you down upon walking out of Ed's quarters, you knew that this was the moment of truth - now, your breath hitched entirely as you watched the man back, furrowing at him while holding the wooden railing in your palm. And in the last moment, Edward embarked from behind Izzy, dressed up in his captain attire. This was when most of the crew turned around to look at them with genuine surprise in their expressions, watching both of them descend the stairs while walking closer to you. - "Mrs. Trott." - Blackbeard nodded with all due politeness, prompting Izzy to talk.

"I and the captain were talking about what we should do with you for the last half an hour." - Every word Izzy had gritted through his teeth while pretending that he has at least one ounce of respect for you was harming him internally, for sure. Last few weeks, you got used to bickering and spitting various phrases at each other since he was the right hand and you knew very well that you could talk back at him anytime you wanted... Because Edward liked being around you and thus, speaking while pretending you're at least somewhat respecting one another was rather complicated. - "And we agreed that we wouldn't get any sort of good coin for you here, at this fucking end of the world. On top of that, the morons would've most likely arrested us if they'd gotten to know that we captured you. Therefore, Jim and Olu will keep a close on you. If you say a word to anyone, wench, I swear to Kraken that I..." "That's enough." - Just as Izzy's facade started to break, Edward put his palm on Izzy's shoulder and pushed him away from you.

As the statmenet ran through your mind, it was easily read that you were outright confused, attempting to pick up whatever Izzy was laying down. They wouldn't get paid properly? Yeah, right, no surprise there; you were barely worth a hen, let alone a pouch of gold. Arrested? For abduction? But then... Oh, you realized, your gaze flickering between the two men. It all clicked together. Holly hell... Edward did it - he managed to either talk Izzy out of selling you entirely or he managed to sway him some other way. Whichever of these two options, you were grateful beyond any reasonable reason; without realizing you were doing so, you caught Izzy's palm to shake it. - "Thank you so much, sir. So, so, so much." "Stop, for fuck's sake you wench, let me go. All of you other idiots, come here!" - While taking in a deep breath, Izzy stepped aside and started adjusting his shirt; he did that anytime he got uncomfortable.

While Izzy told the crew anything you needed to do in the evening and what were a few exquisite specialties you needed to haggle somewhere on the market, you and Edward stayed behind and leaned your elbows into the railing. Each of the women was dressed in expansive dresses, having jewelry hanging on their necks and ears; their wigs were almost hilariously big and their faces were drenched in make-up... Oh, home sweet home. While exploring the town, you bumped into a few curious shops you visited; there was a store full of luxurious expansive fabric, and a butcher filled with fresh pieces of meat which you all watched with your mouth open. And then, you saw it - all three of you were standing in front of it, looking at the building sitting in the middle of the plaza. Jim and Olu were discussing the architecture and exterior of the building with quite serious faces, yet your expression remained too dumbfound.

"That's it." - You mumbled quietly, shooting your gaze back at the fabric shop. The bank, the fabric shop, a bit of acting, pulling out a fuckery while engaging the entire crew... You'd kill two birds with one stone. - "Oh dear, that's it. I just figured it out." Black Sails fic recs

Working titles: 12 fics for christmas? 12 days of ficmas? 12 fics none of which actually have anything to do with christmas?

OKAY, so I love nothing more than a fic rec post, and I’ve seen a few Black Sails rec posts floating around but they mostly seem to be a couple of years old and they all recommend a similar bunch of fics (and deservedly so! they are all amazing!). But I thought I would make one to highlight some newer or less shouted-about fics, because I may have only been here for a couple of months but jfc there is so much talent in this fandom and more of it deserves to be hyped.

So, here are 12 of my favourite fics for the 12 days of christmas! (i.e. an excuse to put an arbitrary number cap on the list or we’d be here all day)

The majority of these are Silver/Flint and the ones that aren’t still all feature Silver prominently because that boy owns my soul, sorry for who I am as a person.

45K (Silver/Madi, Silver/Flint, Flint/Thomas)

Madi has always wondered if Silver understands what is between him and Flint as well as she. To her, it has always been obvious, from the way the two of them had fit together, had worried about each other, had acted as one. She had tried to bring it up with Silver back when they were together. But Silver had shaken her off, too enmired in the idea that he or Flint would prove each other’s downfall. Or perhaps just unwilling to open his eyes to the fact that he had loved Flint.

It was, unfortunately for the both of them, even more obvious after the thing between them had broken. Just as Silver had thrown away the war out of love for her, Flint had let Silver take away the war rather than kill him.

God. What a group the three of them were, showing love by betrayal.

Post-canon. Madi and Flint find their way back to Silver.

This fic diverges from canon right at the end of the 4x10; Silver has Flint held in a cell in Port Royal and Thomas delivered to him rather than taking him straight to the plantation. It is a BEAUTIFUL character study of how Flint and Madi could both come to forgive Silver, and has a great FlintMadi dynamic too. It also centres Madi’s struggle between wanting to provide for her people and wanting to experience the freedom of piracy, and fleshes out Julius’ character in a way the show never did.

31K (Silver/Flint/Thomas, Silver/Flint, Flint/Thomas)

It's been twelve years since everything fell apart, and John Silver is settled in New England. He has a nice house and a job he likes, and he's gotten used to the loneliness. It's a good life, he thinks, but of course that's cast into doubt when James Flint and Thomas Hamilton show up to find closure and, apparently, to see whether he's happy.

This is an inverse of the ‘silver arrives on flint and thomas’ doorstep’ trope and has Flint and Thomas instead being the ones to interrupt Silver, who is living a sad and lonely existence post-series. I love the ThomasSilver dynamic here. And this Silver feels so true to canon he makes me want to WEEP.

Tell me we're dead and I'll love you even more by Craftnarok

21K (Silver/Flint)

In the year 1725, or thereabouts, John Silver finds himself driven by a storm into an inconsequential little port town, barely a speck on any civilised map. Returned to the life of a drifter, tired and rough around the edges, he is resigned to waiting for the weather to pass before he can sail on again to the next town, and the next, and the next. That is until he overhears a conversation in the inn about a local fisherman, one Captain Barlow, and his tall tales of tempests and becalmings, devils and sharks, and Silver finds a new future opening up to him, haunted by the spectres of his past.

All of Craftnarok’s fics are amazing but I am particularly drawn to this one; it’s set 10 years post-series and is a delightfully angsty exploration of how Flint and Silver could find their way back to each other in a scenario in which Thomas wasn’t at the plantation. It doesn’t let Silver off easy and I love that.

3K (Silver/Madi, Madi & Julius)

The language of winning and losing, this language that men favor – Madi can speak this language, though she disagrees with its precepts. Success takes different forms, and failing once does not mean failing forever. It does not even mean failing the next time.

Post-series, Julius teaches Madi how to fight. This fic is BEAUTIFUL - give me anything that centres Madi post-canon - and it explores Madi’s relationship with both Julius and Silver so well in so few words.

Always In Season by mycapeisplaid

60K (Silver/Flint, past Flint/Thomas, past Silver/Madi)

Towering sand dunes, crystal-clear water, miles of forest, vineyards, orchards, and very spotty cellular service -- John Silver finds himself in a part of the state he's never been before and decides to take on seasonal work. Meanwhile, back from his yearly wintering in Florida, James Flint thinks that perhaps he'll take on a new business venture, even though it means he might have to interact with people other than his two close friends. Their summer employment fosters a friendship that could become something more. Like construction season in Michigan, the two must navigate through their own obstacles in order to seek an alternative route toward happiness.

This is an AU and so much fun!! Silver finds himself in Michigan and takes on some seasonal work at Guthrie Dunes. The whole cast features and the setting just WORKS SO WELL. And this Flint feels brilliantly in character despite the difference in setting.

“Whatever you want,” the salesman says. “Didn’t you want something real?”

Max heard a story once about the importance of answering questions like that carefully. If something emerges from the forest and asks for your name, don’t give it up, the story went. Offer only what you know you can live without. She’s never heard a story that tells her what to do when something emerges from the forest and offers its name to you.

I literally only finished this this morning but holy shit this fic is amazing, it’s a Max-centric AU set in Missouri the early 00s and it’s all about found family and building community and platonic love and it has a brilliant SilverMadi dynamic. And there just aren’t enough fics out there that focus on Max & Silver!!

73K (Silver/Flint)

Let me tell you a story, about a vaquero named Vasquez…

Obviously vowelinthug’s fics are recc’d all the time and rightly so as they are AMAZING, but one that I don’t see featured as often as the more prominent ones is this incredible Western!AU. It’s 73K guys!! It adapts the canon narrative into the Western setting SO well!! It has background Vane/Billy which I was not at all sure about going in but just WORKS!! Go read it.

The Truth about Eros by Aisalynn

21K (Silver/Flint, Silver/Madi, Flint/Thomas)

Silver understood one thing very well.

Being Fated did not mean you were safe.

It did not mean you were loved.

This one is hot off the press! I am not normally a fan of soulmate AUs but this is such an interesting take on the trope, and the world building fits around the polyamory theme of the show really effectively! And it is SO well written.

An incredibly well written (and angsty! read the tags!) Jewish!Silver character study. This one has really stayed with me.

With eyes unblinking toward the rolling sea, Madi says, “And he still thinks you should be dead.”

James’ lip curls in anger. The wounds of betrayal are too fresh for either to say anymore.

Canon-divergent from 4x09, this is a brilliant MadiFlint centric fic exploring their relationship post Silver’s betrayal, and how he could find his way back to them both whilst acknowledging the weight of his actions.

There aren’t enough Madi centric fics out there! This one is a lovely extension of canon with a great MadiSilver dynamic in particular.

romantic headcanons.

name: John Constantine alias: Hellblazer, ConJob, The Laughing Magician, The World’s Greatest Con Man, El Diablo, The Constant One gender: male sexual orientation: pansexual romantic orientation: demiromantic

preferred pet names: John pretty much plays along with whatever nickname his partner(s) decide to use for him, from “classic” ones to whatever thing the people he’s seeing might have come up with. This means that even insults can become pet names, when used by his current partner, no matter how bad they can get. relationship status: single / verse dependant (I currently have a verse in which he’s building a poly relationship, another in which he’s (un)officially dating but it might get more than official at some point, and one in which he has a proper stable boyfriend)

opinion on true love: John believes that a kind of love that comes close to be defined as such exists. He has experience a similar feeling in person a few times (with Nick and Zatanna, with Kit). However, because of his past experiences, he isn’t very confident on the fact that he’ll ever manage to find a way to keep that sort of relationship going. The closer someone gets to him, the worse fate awaits ahead of them or the deeper he disappoints them. opinion on love at first sight: John believes in “attraction at first sight”, but not in love at first sight. That’s in part because getting attached is often not an option for him. When it comes to sex and romance, he prefers going for something casual, with few string attached. It’s it’s safer and less complicated, and it hurts less with things inevitably fall apart. So, he isn’t one to fall fast for people. He wouldn’t be able to even if he tried (with a few exceptions). how ‘romantic’ are they?: John can be a romantic, especially if it’s something that his partner(s) enjoy. Personally, he likes doing some traditional couple stuff, like going out for dinner, going to concerts, having a picnic or even just having an aimless stroll around holding hands. He likes trying to play the cook and cooking homemade meals...even if the results aren’t always stellar. So, when he really cares for someone (or he is in love) John is…a lot of things. He tries to be charming, confident, playful and appealing, and he wines and dines his partner(s) as much as they allow him to. However, he can also be a huge, sometimes sappy dork. He’d go to hell and back, literally too, to try and make his partner(s) happy (and that’s part of his idea of romance too).

ideal physical traits: John’s tastes when it comes to his partners’ physical appearances are, to say the least, variegated. Considering that he finds attractive beings from very different species, it’s hard to pinpoint what exactly draws him to someone, physically speaking. He has a certain preference for inhuman traits, especially if they could be somehow harmful for him (he finds the thrill of danger is too appealing for his sake). Another thing that he likes, in humans and non-humans alike, is physical strength. He likes someone who can crush him and hold him down, or who can put up a fight when he does that. ideal personality traits: John enjoys someone who can match his wits, who is cunning and can challenge him, keep him on his toes. He’s also attracted to people who can be too straightforward and who are strong-willed and determined, bold and not easily deterred, perhaps because those are all qualities someone needs to have to manage to stay around him for a prolonged amount of time. He’s also drawn to people who are fierce and passionate or have strong emotions, but can also keep an open mind. He can appreciate if his partner(s) have a kind, softer, perhaps even nurturing side, because, whether he wants to admit it or not, he tends to cling and find solace in such affections.

unattractive physical traits: Again, it’s just as hard to pinpoint what John might not like as it is to find specific physical traits that he found more attractive (I mean, at some point he had sex with a bunch of sentients organs, for the gods!). He’s open to give everyone and everything a try (as long as it’s consensual), though not all the experiences turn out to be pleasant. Those, he tends to avoid the second time. unattractive personality traits: Dullness, excessive ignorance or lack of smartness. Hypocrisy, because John might be a liar, but that kind of behaviour irks him to no end. People who are too pretentious, who have a too high idea of themselves without having a good reason to justify it. People who force themselves on others, in any way. Someone who’s too obsessive (because of bad past experiences) or too self-absorbed to spare the effort every relationship needs to work out.

do they have a type?: Yes and no. He has a preference for whoever checks most of the boxes when it comes to what he generally likes in a partner, but every case turns out to be different. It’s also true that most of his lovers, though, held some sort of power over him, be it because they are strong (physically or mentally or “magically) or because they for some reason have the upper hand in the relationship. Strong-willedness and ability to call him out on his bullshit are other recurrent traits. opinion of public affection: When he’s fond of someone, John can get very touchy-feely, if not straight out handsy, around them, no matter if they are alone or in public. He is very much open to PDA, but he restrains himself if his partner prefers avoid them. The same can’t be said for when they are in private, because then any excuse (and even the lack of one) is good to gets his hands on whoever he’s seeing.

favourite canon ship: Uuuh, I’m going to say Nick / John / Zatanna. We don’t see much of it in canon, aside from their tragic falling out, but I like to think that they had a good run before everything fell apart. John was obviously so very in love with them both, and the three of them balanced each other well and were a positive influence in each other’s life, even if at the same times they also tended to bring out the worst in each other. For all those reasons and more, I love the verse I’ve been building with @adventurepunks because it allows me to explore all the shades of their complicated relationship. I liked, even if not as much, John’s relationship with Kit. Though, I must say that I’m glad (for her) that it didn’t work out, because that wonderful woman deserves so much better than him (just as Zatanna). favourite non-canon ship: I have three main non-canon relationships. John / Demon John (which I write in my verse with @thedemonconstantine ) and that’s a pairing I also ship in general (meaning outside RPs). Then we have John / Oliver Queen, with @thegreenxrcher (and with her too I have a whole verse). Last but not least, John / Nick Sethson ( Devil OC written by @paradiseturnedhell). Each of this ships has its own peculiar appeal to me and I could write an essay for each of them, but I’ll spare you all x’D However, I want to make some special mentions too. I have build a wonderful friendships (with occasional benefits) with @obsessionsarenotforheroes and her Jessica. I’m developing a ship (or should I say shipS? xD How does it even work with Marc xD) with @fistofhnsw. John & @laughter-in-white‘s croptop J because their friends-with-benefits relationship is hilarious. And, finally, John and Koriand’r ( @blizzardmuses...‘cause they kissed twice “for science” so it counts...right???)

so once upon time there was an italian who hated children and loved reylo. she also hung out in the arthuriana tag and got a bunch of asks about it. so one day some poor anon comes in and asks if she has any trans headcanons for arthurian characters, and she, instead of being a normal person and saying like, no, she goes off about how trans characters in fanfic is forced representation and she cant talk about trans people bc surgery is triggering for her.

found this in the archives lol. so i rbd politely explaining that while it was fine to not have trans hcs, her justifications for it were a little offensive.

hey i dont want to start discourse or anything but i see ur asks in the tag a lot and i wanted to politely address this. firstly obviously no one is under any obligation to hc things, and headcanons and fandom is not activism. if you’d just said “no, not really” it would b fine. i mean, cringe of u, but fine. but u make a couple of points here i want to look at a bit critically. then there is “I don’t like when headcanons are pushed up as ~representation, especially when… Ehm, it’s just fandom stuff?” i dont want to misinterpret you or put words in your mouth, but the implication that theres no need for trans rep in fandom and dismissal of that is a very cis take. My initial read of your intention there was a complaint of ‘why should something like fandom spaces, which are for fun and not serious, be filled with non fun serious (bad) trans stuff that i have to see when im trying to enjoy myself.’ now that could be incorrect, you were a bit vague here. if that is what you meant, i think you maybe should examine why you feel that way. if it isnt, im unclear on what exactly youre trying to say here. the idea that trans hcs are performative wokeness and “representation” in fandom is completely ignoring the actual trans people making and wanting them. there is so vanishingly little representation of trans people in actual media and even less thats good, and i think implying trans hcs are being pushed on people and fandom for, ~representation (a world of meaning in the ~ i shant speculate on) is very dismissive and ignorant of that fact. honestly the main thing im troubled by is the idea that trans bodies are inherently disgusting and triggering, which is an incredibly harmful and hurtful idea, and since you yourself acknowledge that trans people and hcs dont predicate surgery i question why you bring it up, except as a justification for disconfort rooted in unexamined prejudice. im not accusing you of being a terf or anything, i dont believe you meant harm by this or have bad intentions, and im definitely not saying anyone has to hc anything. it was the uncomfronted insidiousness of your justification that concerned me. this is not a personal attack at all, you just have a lot of influence in this fandom space and i wanted to make you aware of some of the surely accidentally harmful things ur saying.

anyway so then. and this is when it gets unhinged. she goes on this server me and a lot of my mutuals n friends r in, camelot, and starts complaining about me.

(in red is the server admin, who was lovely) i asked her to move this convo to dms if she must bc it was rude to bring drama into the server, and she refused, and started insisting that she was being bullied and just wanted to be left alone, so i was like okay lets all block each other and move on, and she refused, continuing to defend everything she was being criticized for

they also said claudio was making them look bad by translating their rants which like... queen if that made them look bad they were already a bad look.

so she keeps pinging people and replying to shit despite everyone else at this point begging her to just drop it and call it a stalemate

imagine this but around n around for like an hour. also she repeatedly got me and valentine confused it was super funny. also she claimed it was an invasion of her privacy for valentine to go on her public blog and look at the things she openly said and rbd there

so the server got put in slow mode and she KEPT GOING even though everyone was just begging her to stop and not even responding

as u can see, around this point we just started spamming her with emoji reactions. she announced she was leaving then went back to arguing a full three times before finally dipping from the server

then she continued complaining about us and calling us puriteens in her tags (trying to make it a proshipper v anti thing i guess lol?)

for literally months before finally remaking. also in that time she got in an argument about how the crusades were fine actually. italianphobia works hard but she works harder i guess

Three, I guess. The witcher obviously, Harry Potter (drarry) and Robin Hobb's Realm of the elderlings (Fitz and the Fool). I might have been eyeing A man from U.N.C.L.E as well, because reasons.

Oh, ahaha, you ready for this? I have a few awful ones, but which one is the worst would be up to you? The ones I remember the most is the Eskel MCD, or Geralt walks an empty Kaer Morhen, or the night Yennefer becomes a mother, or that night there was a fire in the stables...............Oh, or when Jaskier gets everything he wants.....

Do you write crossovers?

I tend not to, I might do AU things at times, but I never go full cross over.

Have you ever received hate on a fic?

Actually no. The 'worst' thing I have gotten is "can you look at your grammar" or "Can you fix the format?", and for that I am grateful. I will never understand others need to lash out at things they don't like in fics instead of just moving on. Be kind to each other.

Have you ever had a story stolen?

Not to my knowledge, luckily, but then again, I'm not on all platforms.

Have you ever had a fic translated?

I have! Translated and into podfics! It is very sweet actually!

What is your all time favourite pairing?

Ooh, uh, how much time we got? xD In the witcher fandoms, I must say Geraskier, Lambden and Trissifer. Then we have Draco/Harry, Link/Zelda, Crowley/Aziraphale, Fitz/Fool... uh. I have many ships..... and all of these are on the top....

What is a fic you would like to finish but don't think you ever will?

Oh darn, this is hard to define, because I have many, many wips. We are talking three giant google docs, 100 pages each, with a mix of finished and unfinished things. I might end up actually writing them at some point. Tho right now, I have a published, unfinished Drarry that glares at me....

Writing strengths?

Uuuh, I got range I have been told? (still one of my favorite compliments) and also I would like to think I am good at trying to find new angles for common...tropes-ish? Getting together and first kisses are something I tend to go for so I hooope that is something that I do well.

Writing weaknesses?

This little guy right here ---> ' <---- That little bastard. My mortal enemy. We are not friends. I also would love to get better at writing long things. Getting above 1k was a huge struggle for me in the beginning, and now I have some really big things in the work. Big for me, that is, nearing 20k. I am still awed by that.

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages?I

... I am not a native english speaker, does that count? xD All my dialoge is in another language. But if you mean it like, rest of the fic english, this bit of dialoge is not? Depending on how it’s done, it can be super cool! I am usually all for it, but I might have to run to google translate if there isn’t an explenation in there xD

What was the first fandom you wrote for?

Harry Potter, I would say. I think I did write that one piece for Robin Hobb before that though, because it was based on a dream, and then I found it again getting active on Ao3. I read for many, many more fandoms before that though.

What's your favourite fic?

That is like asking me who is my favorite child. I have 400 children. But I think I have to narrow it down to these Geraskier ones, Rythm, Fair, Dream a little dream of me, Any reason at all, and Running on Air (Drarry). I can go on for days, so I will stop now. Oh, or did you mean one of my own? Uh, I am very proud of my ongoing fic Dead I live and of course Ciri Science. Among my other +100 or so fics, I am rather fond of Changes and I love you.

RWBY Volume 8, Episodes 8-12

All caught up with RWBY now! (Except for the premium only episode.)

So, two things first: 1. From now on, my blog will no longer be spoiler free for RWBY! I don’t have premium access, so no spoilers for that, but beyond that, I might now reblog spoilers for everything that’s been released to the public. Blacklist “#RWBY spoilers” if you don’t want to see them.

2. I was going to ask what the spoiler policy in this fandom in general is when it comes to premium access. From what I’ve seen, Youtubers usually wait a week before uploading their reaction videos, which I appreciate – but here on tumblr almost no one seems to hold back. I saw a spoiler for “Creation” before it was released publicly. The day episode 13 was released for premium access, I had to unfollow people for posting untagged spoilers for it. And when I went into a RWBY-related tag for one second, I saw a really big spoiler that put me in a very sour mood because it also happened to be very aggressively worded against fans of a certain character (basically, along the lines of “I’m glad X bad thing happened to Y character because I hate them and their fans”). So, that scared the shit out of me and I ended up looking up more specific spoilers about what exactly happened because I wouldn’t have been able to sleep otherwise. So, from what I’ve seen, this fandom’s spoiler policy is just “fuck anyone who doesn’t have premium access” 😒. Always nice to see people being so considerate.

With that said, let’s get into my thoughts on episodes 8-12. Under the cut, because unlike some people, I try to be considerate of others who might want to avoid spoilers.

- So, the Hound really was a person. Specifically, a person with silver eyes and that’s probably what happened to Summer. THANKS, I HATE IT. This is exactly what I feared it would be and what I didn’t want it to be. (I don’t want Ruby and Yang to have to fight and kill their grimm-ified mom, that’s too sad, okay?)

- I love that Whitley really came through and came up with a plan for evacuating everyone! He’s a good bean after all! And that he managed to press that button on the computer before running from the Hound? Amazing.

- Willow Schnee being one hell of a mama bear and summoning a thing to protect Whitley was epic. She was so close to breaking down before that, but then her child was in danger and she just jumped into action right away. Protective mom instincts ftw!

- Blake’s talk about how she looks up to Ruby and how she herself lost the youthful optimism Ruby still has was SO sweet! (Also, Ladybug is an underrated ship/friendship and I really don’t get why people say they never interact? Have you all just forgotten volume 1 and how Bumbleby’s first meeting happened because Yang was trying to wingman Ruby who was trying to befriend Blake??)

- Penny fighting the virus from the inside was amazing, she did so well! I also loved seeing Nora encourage her (and echo Blake’s earlier words back to her).

- Unrelated to these episodes specifically, but I tried to think about who my favourite RWBY charactes even are right now, and I find it super hard to narrow down because I love so many of them, but if I tried to somewhat narrow it down, then (in no specific order because don’t ask me to also come up with an order): all of Team RWBY (though Blake is a personal favourite), Ilia, Penny, Salem, Cinder. (But then again, I also love Winter and Qrow and Robyn and... you get it, it’s hard to narrow down. Oh, and of course Pyrrha, but... you know.)

- “Witch” was honestly my favourite episode of the bunch. That one was just so full of epic stuff. (And now I’m wondering if Salem being one of my favourite characters has anything to do with my love for witches. I used to be obsessed with witches as a kid. In every story I read that had a witch, the witch was always my favourite character.)

- Yang and her team sure found a way inside that whale fast! Also, really handy that Ren’s semblance evolved just in time for when they needed it. But hey, I don’t want to complain about convenient plot stuff too much. Sometimes the heroes are allowed to have a little bit of good luck.

- Hazel listening to Oscar and deciding to get both him AND Emerald out of there was amazing! He really does have a soft spot for kids and wasn’t kidding about not wanting more kids to die – we love to see it! I also think it makes for an interesting parallel that Hazel decided to do this right as Ironwood was sending students to fight on the front lines and Marrow was calling it out.

- I really liked Ren telling Yang she doesn’t have to hide her fear behind jokes. Ren being able to see emotions is going to bring about so many more good moments, I just know it!

- Emerald and “Hazel’s” talk with Salem gets so much better when you know “Hazel” is actually Oscar – Emerald has gotten so much better at illusions and fooled Salem herself! That’s impressive!

- It’s really practical that Ren could sense Emerald’s fear. But also, the group really didn’t have the time to discuss if Emerald was trustworthy – they needed to get out of there asap.

- The way Salem spits out the word “semblance” when she talks to Emerald shows again that she not only underestimates these “new humans” and their powers, but also considers them inferior. It’s a nice little detail how just her tone when she says that word says so much about her worldview.

- Yang straight-up running up to Salem and blowing her up was epic. It didn’t last of course, but it was still a super bold and epic move. I’ve talked before about how cool Yang is and she just keeps getting cooler.

- Yang calling Salem out was amazing and epic, too! And when she referred to Summer Rose as “my mom” that made me tear up just a bit 😢. (I really don’t like Salem’s smile when she says “her again”, though. I don’t want grimm-ified Summer, I really don’t want it, okay? keep it far away from me where I won’t have to see it.)

- I’m a bit sad about Hazel’s death, but it was a really fitting end for his character and a really cool way to go out. The way he looked at all of those kids in danger (proving again that that’s what it’s about for him), whispered “No more Gretchens” to Oscar, punched Salem in the face as she was about to hurt Emerald, injected all of those crystals into his skin (which looked epic, by the way), told Emerald to go, fought an epic fight against Salem and then grabbed her and set himself and her on fire, burning her like a witch – it was epic stuff! RIP Hazel, you died as a hero and went out in an incredibly epic way!

- Hazel’s sacrifice must have been super tough on Emerald. He died protecting her (and JOYR) and it worked. She got away from Salem, but only because someone else, a friend, died for her. Not only must it be awful for her to lose Hazel, she probably also blames herself. (And, as I’ve seen others point out, it was probably the first time in her life an adult did something to protect her. Wow. Someone get this girl therapy, please.)

- The whale getting blown up was an absolutely epic moment. From the music to the cinematography, I loved everything about it. (That said, I will miss the whale. RIP coolest villain lair ever.)

- I loved Watts’ speech to Cinder – and I’m saying this as someone who became a huge fan of Cinder this volume. I love her, but I also love roasting her, and a lot of what Watts said was stuff she desperately needed to hear. I honestly didn’t even like Watts before that moment, but that speech might have made me like him just a tiny bit. The way he just laughed when she dangled him from a building, the way he spelled it out for her that her methods haven’t been working and threw her failures in her face, the ending with calling her “a bloody migraine” – Like I said, I’m a fan of Cinder, but that was glorious and cathartic and beautiful to witness. But what makes it really perfect is Cinder’s reaction: The fact that you’d expect her to kill him or at least scream at him, but instead she spares him and just sits down and cries. I really love what they’ve been doing with Cinder this volume and that they’re finally showing her as someone way deeper than just a power-hungry villain.

- In general, let me quickly talk about Cinder, because even without having seen the last two episodes I can already tell you that she’s my standout character / favourite character of the season. (It was Ilia for Volume 5, Salem for Volume 6, Penny for Volume 7 – and now it’s Cinder.) I said back in my post about Volume 5 that I wish they’d do more with her because after becoming rather interesting in Volume 4 they just went back to making her a pretty flat villain – and I officially have to eat my words and apologize to RoosterTeeth right now! This volume proved to me that they know what they’re doing with Cinder and explained so much about her. I’m sorry for ever doubting the writing. I now want to go back and rewatch the whole show while paying more attention to Cinder and I can’t wait to see where her arc goes from here (yes, I want an eventual redemption, and what about it?). This volume is obviously setting up something big for her – I just have no idea what it is. And at the end of the day, she’s still the Maiden of Choice. She’s the key to the Beacon relic, and that’s going to become important eventually.

- Oh, and can I mention, just by the way, that I think Cinder looks amazing? I don’t understand all the people who say they miss her red outfits when this is clearly her best look yet. The black eyepatch, the cape, the earrings, the short hair, the high boots, the shorts instead of a dress, all the black – this is her absolute best look, period.

- I’ve also noticed that the scene between her and Watts is the first time Cinder has referred to Penny by name. She’s always referred to her with phrases like “some toy” or “Polendina’s creation” before, but this time she just called her “Penny Polendina”, then “Penny” again, and asked Watts how she’s supposed to take Penny’s power “if she’s dead” (not “destroyed”, which is what Watts said, but “dead” – something you say about a person, not a machine). I think somewhere down the line, Cinder has started to see Penny as a person and respect her as the Winter Maiden. Maybe it’s because of how Penny won the fight at Amity, or maybe (though this might be wishful thinking on my part) it’s because Penny questioned why Cinder serves Salem and showed her and Emerald mercy.

- Also, side-note: While I loved Watts’ speech, it sure is bold of him to call Cinder entitled when his own villain origin story is getting overlooked for a science project.

- Neo is an amazing little troll and I love her. From stealing the lamp and skipping along the ruins of the whale happily to those texts to Cinder, all of her moments were brilliant and hilarious.

- Some characters not just forgiving Emerald is totally fair and realistic. But, as I said before (and as Oscar also points out), they don’t have to. People think a “redemption” – or let’s just call it switching sides instead of using such a loaded term – has to include everyone’s forgiveness, but it doesn’t. If Yang and Jaune never want to personally forgive Emerald, that’s okay. They don’t need to forgive her to recognize that she’s changed and work with her. And, as Oscar and Ren point out, Emerald’s abilities would be very useful to have on their side. So, personal feelings are fine and all, but right now they don’t have the luxury to dismiss a potentially very useful ally. (And same for Oz, by the way. It’s fine if they’re still mad at him, but they also need his help.)

- Also, have I already said that I’m very happy for Emerald? Because I’m very happy for Emerald for getting out of there! (Mercury’s and then Cinder’s redemption next, please!)

- F*ck Harriet for trying to get Winter in trouble for letting JYR go. I’m hating her more every second. And then she seriously said “Who cares?” about Ironwood’s plan to nuke Mantle? She’s the most unlikable of them all.

- Everyone’s reunions were so sweet! I loved Ruby and Yang hugging 😭. And Yang cupping Blake’s cheek and their forehead touch had me all 🥰 🥰 🥰.

- After he threatened to nuke Mantle, I hope we can all agree that Ironwood is a straight-up villain now. The most infuriating part is that he didn’t even have to do anything! Whitley and Weiss had figured out a way to save everyone in Mantle and the SDC ships to evacuate people were already there. All Ironwood had to do was let them evacuate everyone to Atlas, and then Penny would have opened the vault willingly and Ironwood could have used the staff to raise Atlas as planned. Problem solved! He should have just sat there and ate his food – but he was so pissed about things not going his way (or maybe he just genuinely hates Mantle that much) that he thought sabotaging the rescue plan and threatening genocide was a better option.

- I loved Marrow’s arc in these episodes and how you could tell more and more that his conscience was making him turn against Ironwood. First he questioned Winter when she was going to nuke the whale before JOYR were back, then he seemed shocked when he thought they were dead, then he tried to talk sense into the other Ace Ops after Ironwood’s ultimatum, and then he straight-up called out Ironwood himself. That last one was dangerous though, and he was lucky Winter was quick enough to jump in and pretend to arrest him, because Ironwood was going to just shoot him in the back.

- Speaking of, I wonder how long Winter has been planning to double-cross Ironwood. How long was she already disagreeing with him, but waiting for the right moment to make a move? Either way, I’m glad she was there to save Marrow.

- The Renora confession scene was so sweet and got me a little choked up 😢. I’m glad they sorted out their issues and told each other how they feel. But like I said before, I think Nora’s arc of trying to find out who she is without Ren is really good and important and Ren respecting that was really good and important as well. It was just a very wholesome scene. Also, I like that we got a little bit more backstory for Nora (her mom abandoned her? that’s awful), and Jaune awkwardly leaving the room was hilarious.

- Robyn telling Qrow he’s a better Huntsman than Clover because he chose to do the right thing was a really important moment for Qrow, imo. (And just a side-note: I’m sure most Fair Game shippers are pretty chill – and I’m a strong believer in ‘ship and let ship’ – but a certain subset of them is starting to get on my nerves with how they ignore Clover’s canon character and story (acting like he would have rebelled against Ironwood if he were alive as if the whole reason he’s dead wasn’t precisely because he cared more about Ironwood’s orders than doing the right thing) and how they make every new plot point about their ship somehow (Oscar’s semblance? Better be a time-travel thing so Clover can come back. Staff of Creation? Better be able to bring people back from the dead so Clover can come back.) It’s so annoying.)

- Yang and Ruby’s talk about their mom was really intense. Ruby’s been holding all of these feelings in for so long, so seeing her say out loud what we’re all fearing (that Summer was turned into a Grimm) and seeing both her and Yang break down over it – that was a lot. I loved seeing Yang comfort Ruby and tell her that her plan for Amity wasn’t useless. Their sisterly bond is so sweet.

- Penny asking Ruby to kill her was another really intense moment. The look on Ruby’s face in that moment really said it all. Ruby has been through so much, has lost Penny before, so hearing that request – even though they fortunately didn’t have to go through with it – must have still been a lot for her.

- I really loved Emerald’s cute “newly reformed villain” moments. (“You guys have been getting your asses kicked… some of that my fault” & “I’m just going to be super pissed if you all finally decide to give up the moment I switch sides.”) I’ve said before (in my She-Ra posts) that my favourite part of any redemption arc is the “former enemies, now awkward around each other” stuff, so this was right up my alley!

- “The girl who fell through the world” was referenced twice now. Between that, the image of everyone falling in the opening, and the lyrics “sometimes it’s worth it all to risk the fall”, I’m going to predict that someone – most likely all of Team RWBY – will fall into that void and potentially end up in a different world.

- The group’s plan to defeat Ironwood, stop the bomb, and get to the vault was amazing all-around. I love the parts Emerald and Winter got to play in it, I love how we saw the plan’s execution before seeing how they came up with it and I love how everyone got to help, even the Schnees and Klein. I also love that the hole Oscar blasted through the ground of Atlas became relevant again.

- The design of the vault and the door are really nice and now I wonder what the other two are going to look like.

- Saving Penny like that was super risky, but they really were out of options. Just the fact that Ruby had to be quick enough to use her semblance and get to the staff before the virus kills Penny… jeesh, that was close.

- Ambrosius is a super fun character! I love that he looked at Penny and said “I’d love to meet whoever did this.” Also, the staff seems more useful than the lamp. The lamp only lets you ask three questions per century, while the staff can be used as often as you want – as long as you’re okay with whatever it previously created disappearing.

- I honestly still don’t completely understand what Penny is now. Is she meant to be human now? Or is she just a being made up of pure aura? How does this work? Ambrosius only created the copy that destroyed herself, so what’s left is Penny’s aura – but she somehow also has a body now? I guess we’ll find out more about what exactly this means later.

- Also, while I wasn’t sure how I feel about this decision re:Penny at first, now that I’ve thought about it for a bit, I think it works. It fits with the Pinocchio story, and I like that they didn’t phrase it as “she’s a real girl now”, but as “this is the girl who’s been in there all along”. Also, Penny saying “wow” after hugging Ruby and then going on a hugging spree was adorable.

- Watching “herself” self-terminate must have been really traumatic, though. Even if that copy was just a robot, it was still a disturbing scene.

- Who shut down communications in the middle of Jaune’s broadcast? I’m assuming it was Cinder, Watts and Neo.

- The whole dimension with the doorways that Ambrosius created looks amazing. (A while before watching this episode, I wondered if Raven could theoretically save Atlas by getting everyone to safety with her portals. It might not have been Raven, but I’m glad I was at least onto something.)

- “Do not fall.” So, about that… they’re all falling in the opening, (and we referenced “the girl who fell through the world” twice now), so I don’t have a good feeling about that. Also, Watts has been dangled from somewhere high twice now, so the third time has to be when he actually falls down.

- And Cinder is there to ruin the plan because of course she is.

most popular multi-chapter: So by Kudos it’s Look At You, Looking At Me which is a completed Amy/Laurie Two-shot, and by hits it’s hands down Come Back, Even As A Shadow, Even As A Dream, which is my beloved Firstprince Amnesia FIC that I fully intend on completing once my mental health is a bit more tolerable and I’m at a less busy time in my life.

Head In The Clouds, But My Gravity’s Centered for Pynch because I think I really did capture their canon voices pretty well and it’s perfect winter vibes tbh

I’ll Breathe You In, If You Hold Me Close for Wolfstar because it’s such a guilty pleasure thing, and I remember being so terrified and embarrassed while writing it becs Victoria is such a remarkable author for Wolfstar and it was a belated Bday gift for her, but I think I had fun with it and that’s all you can ask for tbh

and lastly The One With The Marauders for it’s comedic value and how light hearted and fun it is to write and I get such amazing support for it by lovely souls whether on discord or Tumblr or AO3, notably RJ who’s like one of the top tear Wolfstar writers IMHO and has always given me ideas for it and just been a sweetheart<3

fic you were nervous to post: Okay this is two tear, becs apparently I don’t know how to make decisions lmfao. But like nervous over being judged is definitely from Metamorphosis which was ALSO a bday gift, and I wrote it for that dumb bitch Beth who is literally the most profound Firstprince author and author in general tbh and just beautiful inside and out! And I just remember staying up sprinting with Kathleen and shaking becs i was sure whatever I came up with would be pure shit and she’d hate it, but I think it was actually a catalyst which helped build the foundation of our friendship and she’s literally like one of the only people in my life that I trust wholeheartedly and love endlessly and I’m happy i ended up just going for it.

However, if we’re talking about like nervous to break into a fandom, it was hands down, I Tried Writing Your Name In The Rain for wolfstar, because I’ve literally loved the idea of them since I was a fucking child— like when I thought I was still straight bahahaha— and There is countless masterpieces within the Wolfstar fandom and it’s so fucking huge and immense and rich with substance and beauty and I love them so much and I was so afraid of ruining their characters and dynamic but I’m so thankful that i’ve found so many amazing people who helped me get more confident with my take on Wolfstar.

how do you choose your titles: They’re almost always a lyric from either a favorite poem or the song I was listening most to while writing. Like I can tell you right now that the next thing I post will definitely have a Stevie Nicks lyric as a title lmfao!

do you outline: Outlines tbh intimidate me, and feel a bit stifling, but it’s definitely something I want to start doing because I’ve got two long ass Multi-chaps planned for 2021, and right now it’s just scrambled scenes written on this messy ass doc bahaha.

Hey, It’s Really Ro. I promise.

I had a blog on here under the username @romanticgumchewer-deactivated20 . I went by Ro. I wrote fanfics for Mando and Oberyn Martell called Grow Old With You, Reasons Wicked and Divine, and Build a Home With You. I came up with characters named Ara Obagh and Aliana Tyrell (the baddest bitches to ever live). I came up with a ton of Mandalorian culture cause I didn’t feel like looking anything up. Spice fruit, headscarves, marriage traditions, foundling adoption process, and a bunch of other stuff. Yeah. That me.

Anyway, I’m only hopping on here for a quick minute to clear some stuff up on why I left and give some closure on Build a Home With You.

So, I deleted my tumblr first because of the toxic environment. The constant pressure to put out content. The fact that if your story isn’t a reader insert or super smutty it isn’t going to get read. I just got fed up after a while and deleted. I went solely to AO3 for a while, but everything just felt wrong. I was bored with what I was writing, I didn’t like anything I was writing, and I just didn’t feel good about any of it (or anything, for that matter, I hit a major depressive episode, y’all.). I didn’t want to disappoint anyone or make people feel like I was ignoring them, so I just deleted my AO3 as well. I still love Ara and Din and the story I didn’t complete, but I just was not feeling it anymore.

EDIT: Let me make this clear. I never wanted to include smut in anything that I wrote. I’ve struggled with the fact that I may be Asexual for years (the coming out process is hard y’all). But because I was reading what others wrote before I put out any of my own stuff, I felt like I HAD to include smut in order for the things I wrote to be read. And maybe that means I was writing this for the wrong reasons. But I felt that the story I wrote and the character I created was good and DESERVED to be read by people who like the Mandalorian. But it just....over time more and more it became something I was no longer proud of or felt was mine. If that makes sense?

But then I got an idea. An original story idea in my own world that I created that includes versions of the OCs I made for these stories. Versions of Ara, Aliana, Din, and Oberyn. I’ve never felt this much passion for a story before and it is going really well so far. I’ve always wanted to write for a living, to have something of mine published and in book stores. And I feel like this story could take me there. And if it does get there, if y’all would be kind enough NOT to mention that it was once fanfic that would be great. Please and thank you.

So now for some closure, shall we? Where I left off Build a Home With You Ara is pregnant, they live on Naboo as farmers, and Cara has just found Moff Gideon hiding out on Denon.

They go after Gideon, Ara comes long even though she is VERY pregnant. They find him, but before they can get him Ara gives birth on the Razor Crest. To a little girl named Reykha (I actually have the birth scene written out. Let me know if y’all want me to post that or not.) They fly back to Naboo and live a pretty chill life under the radar for several years. It’s not until Reykha is seven that Moff Gideon finally finds them on Naboo, but he discovers that Reykha is stronger in the force than baby yoda (freaking GROGU). So he stages an attack on the farm, Ara and Din are fighting like crazy while Grogu and Reykha are hiding in their house with Rahto. But when the fighting is over, the farm wins OBVIOUSLY, they have everyone in cuffs including Gideon. But when Ara goes to get the kids: Rahto is badly injured, Grogu is in hiding, and Reykha is gone. She storms back out of the house and tells Din Reykha is gone. Gideon overhears and laughs, looks to the sky and they see one Imperial ship flying away. They know exactly what this means. Reykha has been taken by the Empire. So in a fit of pure rage, Ara takes the black saber from Gideon (which she also fought him while he weilded against her #badass) and interrogates him with it. Asking where they took her daughter, but he never gives it away. She ends up cutting his head off with the saber. So for the next….13 or so years, they’re flying literally all over the universe trying to find her (#heartwrenching). They’ve basically given up hope, when they run into Maz again, who tells them of a brown-eyed girl she met named Rey who was strong in the force. They go searching for this Rey. But it’s not until they get recruited by the Resistance to fight against the Final Order, the battle is won, and they’ve landed back on that jungle planet at the end of the Rise of Skywalker that they finally find this Rey. Gosh, I was probably gonna cry while writing this. They step out of the Crest, they see a girl with dark brown hair hugging two men. The girl turns, sensing their presence. Ara and Din are so hesitant, so unsure. They approach the girl who begins to cry but does not know why. “Reykha?” Ara whispers, and reaches out to touch her cheek. When she does, all of Rey’s true memories come back to her, not the ones planted in her brain by Palpatine. “Mama?” Rey whispers just before the women meet in a crushing embrace. I liked to think that Din would remove his helmet in this moment, just so he could see his daughter’s face for the first time in 13 years unfiltered. And that Creed no longer matters to him. She is safe, she is back with them, he is finally free to just be Din without being the Mandalorian. So Rey hugs Din too cause that’s freaking PAPA right there BOY.

Rey FUCKING DJARIN (Obagh technically but who cares?) Y’ALL

And for an epilogue I was going to have Rey be with….some ambiguous character that was up to interpretation (could be Finn, Poe, Rose, some other person of the reader’s choice). They’re back on the farm on Naboo where Ara and Din have lived a long good life. In the end, Rahto gave them the farm as an inheritance. ANYWAY she’s on the farm with this person and Grogu obviously and…..well they’re spreading Ara’s ashes on Danilah Pond. Din has already passed at this point. They both lived to a ripe old age. And that’s how it ends. Rey with her own family living on the Naboo farm, taking care of Grogu now, training him and Finn as a Jedi, and so on and so forth.

The end.

HI!! since you asked before sending it, I knew this was coming but my First Cool Guy Tumblr Ask is so neat,, anyway!!

This is my only IT-specific account, but I post almost everything I draw on my instagram, https://www.instagram.com/fabricsofteners/ (I don't know how people make links cool on tumblr aaa) I also have an AO3, https://archiveofourown.org/users/tangledheadphonecord , where I might post this one really long fic I’m working on (maybe not, as it’s super lame but God am I putting in work)? But mostly it’s just really old stuff atm, and no IT content right now - just some random drabbles from past hyperfixations tbh.

I used to be ‘fabricsofteners’ everywhere besides here - tangledheadphonecord is a username I used for my tumblr because I want a change from the fabricsofteners brand, as I've had it for quite a few years and have just grown kind of bored - just waiting a bit to change my instagram user. I also used to be ‘unbrandedmarkers’ like, three years ago on instagram? but, that era ended fast. I think I might have an old Tumblr under some variation of ‘fabric softener’ but honestly even if anything is up on it I’d probably be embarassed to look at it now.

I watched IT for the first time in 2019, I believe, but wasn’t really in the fandom until actually like, April of this year. I entered the fandom and developed a hyperfixation (sobs) by complete mistake - I read all the fics for michael mell/rich goranski on ao3, and was on a camping trip and wanted to read some Homosexual Fanfiction and literally remembered IT on a whim (rich-to-richie association) and read a bunch of Reddie fics, and it was all down (up?) hill from there.

Unshockingly, I’m sure, Reddie is my number one favourite IT ship. I’m also an enjoyer of Benverly, as well as Stanley/Patty - IT is like, the only fandom where I actually like the canon ships. I do also think Streddie/Stozier is really cute and Bill/Mike (unsure of the shipname?) is nice when I see it!! I think Reddis is cute because I am a total sucker for best-friends-to-lovers, as well asthe ‘I tease everyone but mostly you’ and the ‘I’m so tired of you bullying me but if you ever stop I’ll cry’ and... just, the entire dynamic that they have. Stanley/Patty - there is no reasoning, I just want Stanley to be happy. Benverly - the way they were each other’s first Meaningful Interactions in so like?? agony, they’re so cute. They both deserve to be happy, and I’m so happy they find that happiness in each other.

As for characters - Richie is absolutely my favourite. I (unfortunately /hj) kin and relate to him on so many levels it hurts. Having a character that feels that fear of their sexuality because of a horrible environment is painfully real. covering up struggles with humour and all that?? yeah, mood (also, crushing on your best friend-). What he means to me, in a sense, isn’t really canon - I read strictly fix-it fics, because I want to feel that hope that like fanon Richie, I don’t have to hide forever. I can be myself and be happy. Obviously I can’t much look to the movies or anything for that but hey - what’re Andy or Stephen gonna do, tell me to stop reading fics?

I also really like Stanley!! I don’t,, have a reason. I just think he’s adorable and I love his dynamic with the other Losers a lot. Stanley breathed like, once, and instantly became a comfort character and not even I know why at this point, he just is. Eddie & Bev are up there, too - honestly, Bill is the only Loser I don’t have a strong attachment too. And honestly, he’s growing on me rapidly.

I mostly draw whatever my goblin hyperfixated brain can think of, as well as rebloging just about every post that I see and like (art, jokes, edits, fics, etc.) - I start and stop a lot of fics, maybe one day I’ll finish one but as of yet I have not... Sigh.

I honestly don’t think I do have anyone to tag for inspiration? I follow IT blogs but none I would go to for inspiration (no offense to any mutuals-) inspiration for me is mostly just seeing a pose and going ‘okay’ and suddenly I have a drawing - I have no clue what happens in between.

So, my current all-time favourite IT fic atm is https://archiveofourown.org/works/18213215/chapters/43087232, though I will say it’s a really heavy fic and to read with caution. Going away from Angst, any ‘famous Reddie’ AUs are amazing, but I constantly reread the entire https://archiveofourown.org/series/1560019 series. It’s cute and funny and I THRIVE for domestic Reddie content.

Actually not Reddie, I throughly enjoyed https://archiveofourown.org/works/23201011 for giving me the Mike content the movies have robbed me of for too long, as well as https://archiveofourown.org/works/25262698 which is pure stanlon greatness and made my heart flutter for the boys more than once.

I don’t really have any IT fics up of my own creation, and honestly my reception in way of Tumblr notes is far better than I expected so honestly, I have none to link lol. As long as I get minimun interaction I will thrive.

I wish I could say I’ve been in anything like a zine or anything, but I have not! I’m relatively new to the fandom (and having a social media dedicated to one thing) so I wouldn’t even know where to begin to join or be qualified for one, y’know? I’ve done art weeks in the past and found them incredibly fun but haven’t seen any for IT - but if anyone does happen to know of any... Feel free to send them my way-

As for the last question - other than like, hyping up Chosen and Jeremy just as much as we do the other IT kids (which, honestly I’m not even sure if is still a problem - I’ve just seen posts about it and it’s made me wary), I’m not sure? I’ve honestly not encountered anything in the fandom I find awful and honestly, for a fandom about a movie that is... Well, IT, I’ve really just kind of enjoyed my time in the fandom thus far?

(I will say we need 200% more attention being drawn to 1990s adult Eddie Kaspbrak, who is one of the most beautiful men I have ever seen - but I also feel that way about James Ransone, so I’m not mad.)

(Also, we should be calling out the 1990s IT more, I watched it recently and it’s so bad /lh)

🔆 — obviously they end up married and procreating, but in your headcanon, do you see them expanding their family? Having more kids? Being content with just Ichika? She seems like 2 kids in one kids body. Where do you see the Abarai family in the future?

So, when I first found out the timing on Ichika, I was honestly pretty upset about it. Part of it is that I think it’s nice for people to be married for a while without kids. We don’t know when Rukia and Renji actually started seeing each other romantically, but my personal preference is that it happened late, possibly during or after the TYBWA. We do know from WDKALY that they had a pretty short engagement, and then conceived Ichika almost immediately following the wedding. It’s kinda depressing to me that they would have this huge separation, followed by two years of slow burn, followed by six months of dating -> engaged -> married and then BAM preggo. Dang.

Secondly, even though she’s been a lieutenant for a year, tops, Rukia is now acting captain of a squad that has just taken enormous losses, one of her top officers has just transferred to Squad 4, and the Soul Society is in ruins. This seems like... a terrible time to have a baby?

On top of all this, Rukia has never struck me as a person who has always dreamed of being a mom or would be particularly delighted to find herself pregnant. I’m not saying she wouldn’t want to be a mom, or that she wouldn’t be a good one (I am not a particularly maternal mom, and to be honest, I think we could use some better representation). I think Renji would both like to be a dad and would be an excellent and intuitive dad, but he loves Rukia for who she is. He would accept not having kids before he would try to talk her into doing something she didn’t want to.

I am a compulsive fix-it person, but within the confines of canon, so I spent a lot of time trying to make sense of all this. In my ongoing, low-burn, canon-spanning fanfic epic, I tried to put in a few earlier scenes where Rukia interacts with some Kuchiki family members who have babies, and starts to feel some stirrings that having babies doesn’t mean quitting your job and your personality. She’s always valued her independence, but she’s also been alone for a really long time, and at the same time she is trying to adjust to the idea of maybe she would like to have a romantic partner, she’s learning the trials and tribulations of having a sibling, and she’s really re-examining her entire concept of family.

I have never been particularly fond, either, of the idea that Ichika is somehow the Kuchiki heir (and I don’t think she is, especially since she has Renji’s name, but we really don’t know for sure and it’s a common enough idea in fanfic), because the entire Kuchiki family is kind of a drag and also they are problematic billionaires and I don’t like Rukia and Renji just blindly assimilating into that. As a compromise, I came up with the idea that maybe Byakuya named Rukia and Renji a branch family to the Kuchiki (his favorite branch family, don’t tell anyone), so they’re part of the family, but pretty far off from the actual succession and they have a lot of freedom to Start Shit and make the other nobles clutch their pearls constantly.

Bringing it all together, I can finally start to make some sense of this. Rukia and Renji get married with the sense that they would like a family, plus they are somewhat obligated to generate an Heir. It’s shitty timing for sure, but the timing is only going to get shittier. I have heard of women who get PhDs and have babies in grad school. On one hand, this is an absolutely bananas thing to do. On the other, if you know that’s what you want, it is entirely rational, because at least most grad students have a flexible schedule and it’s better than having toddlers when you’re trying to get tenure. If you can manage it, this is actually a really effective way to manage a scientific career. So, in other words, they had their (1) baby, and then Rukia got down to brass tacks, training her bankai and getting her squad in shape. I can definitely see Renji in a primary caregiver role (I think they have a nanny, but he scales back at work and takes care of a lot of stuff), and that also partially explains why he’s still a vice-captain. (If any of this is compelling to you, I did write a short story about it once)

Now, I am actually going to get to your question and the answer is: it depends on what happens in a theoretical continuation of Bleach.

Rukia has just been officially been named a captain in the Bleach epilogue. I think that if things continue to be peaceful, and she settles into her role, after a few years, I could definitely see them sitting down at dinner and saying “you wanna have a big family?” Maybe two or even three more. Ichika is practically an adult at this point, but given the longevity of souls in Soul Society, I feel like it’s not uncommon for kids to have even multiple decades between them. I don’t think she would have any bitter feelings about this, she has always appreciated as being an integrated part of their lives, even when it got a little hectic and also she really loves her baby sibs.

On the other hand, if there’s another big war or an extended period of low-level conflict, I don’t think they would have any regrets if Ichika turned out to be an only child. Rukia and Renji have had a tremendous number of awful things happen to them in their life, and I think they have a tendency to focus on what they have instead of what they don’t.

The primary thing that I think would put a crimp in further kid plans is if Renji had to take a captaincy. I don’t think Renji particularly wants to be a captain, although he would be an excellent one. The way the setup of captains is after the timeskip, I cannot imagine anyone retiring, so I can’t see this happening in the peaceful scenario. I have no idea whose place he would even take. In fact, even if some captains got killed in some future conflict, I would think that by that point, Kira or Hinamori, for example, would be more likely to step up and take over their squads than to bring in Renji. Renji certainly wouldn’t take 1, 2, 4, 12 or 13, and they already blew the storyline where Byakuya dies and he takes 6. I suppose he could take one of the other squads if they lost both captain and vice-captain. Renji becoming the new Kenpachi is the spiciest possible take and I would read the shit out of that.

The actually family development I would like to see would be for Byakuya to get married, dude it is your job. Are you guys ready for my dream Byakuya love story that I will never, ever write because I do not ship him with any existing characters and I would die if I had to tag something Byakuya x OC? TOO BAD, here it is anyway: I think Byakuya doesn’t think he could ever fall in love again, and up until the main Bleach storyline, the idea of being remarrying is abhorrent to him. After a few years of being an ancillary part of the Abarai family, though, I think he could finally bring himself to find some suitably noble wife to Bear Him an Heir. In Byakuya fashion, I imagine he would dig through a bunch of genealogy records and find some woman who is the dead end of some old lineage of Great Soul Society Generals or some shit and out-of-the-blue proposes to her. This woman is the Spinster to End All Spinsters. She is like, 400 years older than him. She is not conventionally attractive and wears a lot of sweaters she knits herself. She has a lot of special interests, including carnivorous plants, and is extremely hardcore about her hobbies. She is the Sybil fucking Ramkin of Soul Society. Her spiritual energy is bonkers. She and Byakuya do not get along at all, but that’s okay because they have big plans to ignore one another (aside from procreational intercourse). Rukia is losing her mind. Renji is trying to smooth things over. Nothing is smoothed. Hitsugaya rather likes her and keeps trying to give Byakuya pep talks. Finally, like, Byakuya’s prize orchid almost dies and she saves it and Byakuya goes full heart eyes for her, and he has to be romantic at her. He wears an ill-fitting sweater she makes.

So, to sum up: Rukia and Renji get married, have Ichika. Byakuya gets remarried, makes an heir or three. Twenty to thirty years later, Renji quits to go be the stay-at-home soccer dad he’s always wanted to be. Byakuya Jr. becomes Vice-Captain at the Sixth (or possibly Ichika? That would be fine, too). Rukia eventually becomes head captain. When the younger batch of Abarai kids get old enough, someone convinces Renji to run for office and he becomes the Leslie Knope of the Central 46. Bam. The best timeline.

-they are finally in America!!!

-First stop: Trash City!

-oops sorry NYC, sorry, they just sound the same when I say them out loud so I get them confused sometimes :)

-okay, okay, getting off topic.

-so they’re in New York

-they’re just kind of wandering and they end up running into the Elmos.

-Mari was almost pulled into a hug with one and Felix had to drag her out of the way, saving her from the creep

-they then immediately booked it to a restaurant, hoping that would give them a bit of a reprieve.

-Hard Rock Cafe was the one they picked, Nino’s choice, obviously.

-Marinette gushed over the mini milkshakes for like ten minutes.

-someone ended up recognizing them. They took a picture, posted it on twitter and now BOOM

-every single one of their fans and customers know exactly where they are.

-but ANYWAY

-they’re in nyc, why not go to a broadway show?

-Six. They go to see Six. Don’t @ me, I like six and I thought Marinette and Nino would both enjoy it

-Mari is LIVING for their outfits.

-Nino is also loving every minute.

-They’re in the front and Nino is basically grinning the whole show but during Heart of Stone you can see him tear up a bit.

-Felix actually enjoys it. He shoves all the thoughts of historical inaccuracies out of his head and mostly just listens to Mari ramble about the outfits.

-Adrien vibes with Seymour honestly. And Parr. And basically all the queens.

-Nathalie likes the show too, mostly because it’s a nice break for her and the songs are pretty catchy too

-for Mega Six, Mari is filming and all the queens look directly into her camera

-they also take it and dance on stage with her phone, filming everything

-Mari is about to faint. Doesn’t matter that she’s technically famous, she is DEAD

-they don’t see her face when they take and give back the phone so when she comes backstage afterwards with the gang, at first they just recognize her hair and see her as the girl who was filming the Mega Six

-then they see her face and the costume designer is trying so hard not to squeal, oblivious to the fact that she’s doing the exact same thing.

-Mari is absolutely gushing to them about how great the show was

-She tells Parr that her song was what kept her going in school, since she’s listened to the Broadway and West End soundtracks about a billion times. (Pretend like the broadway one is already out time is a construct with rich people)

-side note, they post the pictures and video and suddenly A BUNCH of Six fans are now following Mari and now Mari is designing outfits inspired by the queens because AH THE COSTUMES ARE GORGEOUS I COULD TALK ABOUT THEM FOR DAYS I LOVE THEM SO MUCH

-fun fact, they are all wearing a “If Found, Please Return to Nathalie” shirt

-Felix is adorable and bought Mari some hair pins with watermelons because Watermelon Kids

-yes Nathalie has a shirt that says “I’m Nathalie”

-they actually did lose Adrien and these two girls were able to return him to Nathalie and they all took a pic with them and followed the two on Twitter

-they don’t know what else to do in New York, so they just make their way down to...

-New Jersey!

-Seaside Boardwalk!!

-they mostly stick to the arcades, Mari sticking to casino pier, and them getting fries and lemonade as a snack.

-they spend the night at the boardwalk, going on a few rides like Moby Dick, and Pirate’s Cove.

-they spend the night at a house of a friend of Tom Dupain’s and the next day, they go to the Ocean County mall because it was close to the house.

-Adrien complained a bit about going to “the least cool mall in the state” but stopped when he found a five below at the plaza.

-five below is his weakness.

-mall, fun, yada yada yada

-bath and body works is inside? Mari’s in heaven.

-Friendly’s for lunch! Ice cream all around my friends!

-that afternoon they go to laser tag and completely dominated.

-Twins on one team, Watermelon Kids on the other.

-for some reason (the reason is called because I said so) they decide to go down to another boardwalk further south.

-on the way they go to lobster house for lunch (lobster house is amazing I don’t even really like it for the food it’s just the VIBES. they are. immaculate.)

-they go to Wildwood and ohhh

-Nino and Adrien are living it up on the rides

-rollercoaster, log flume, submarine ride slash game thingy!

-they’re doing it all

-and Felix and Mari are being so cute and domestic winning each other things at the games

-and then the arcade, where Felix is hopeless at Skeeball and ends up slipping and Mari helps him up while trying not to laugh

-can I just say that I think Mari is probably really good at claw machines?

-she has some weird sort of luck when she’s playing and she’ll always end up winning a prize

-they spend the night at a cute little hotel and the next day they go mini golfing

-now this is where Felix for some reason shines

-Mari keeps losing her golf ball and having to go search for it

-Adrien and Nino are both mediocre at it.

-Adrien got a hole in one and he and Nino screamed and Nino picked him up and spun him around

-they also got ice cream at said mini golf place

-Khor’s is just...*chefs kiss*. They all got the orange and vanilla swirl because I said so and it’s a Khor’s classic

-Felix picks an Italian place for dinner that night. It’s called Little Italy and it’s pretty good.

-and, that’s a wrap for New Jersey! Next...

-alllll the way down to.... North Carolina!

-they spend only a day in North Carolina, but they do go to these caves.

-and also, this place with food that’s mainly made of... alligator?

-basically, it’s a rest day.

-Mari gets SUPER inspired and buys fabric to make a jacket inspired by the caves and honestly it’s gorgeous because she used not only the tan of the rocks, but the beautiful blues of the water.

-NATHALIE BREAK

-she’s so tired but she’s having so much fun with her boys!!!

-she actually feels pretty well rested a few days into the trip.

-Nathalie can’t help but fuss over the kids

-and coo at their cuteness when they do cute things

-She and Mari always share a room

-and the three boys share a room

-day 1, animal kingdom because they get there in the afternoon and there isn’t as much they want to see in animal kingdom. They have loads of fun though and are planning on dropping by another day for the first half of the day.

-next day is Magic Kingdom

-they go on so many rides.

-small world is Adrien’s favorite ride, don’t @ me.

-Casey’s Corner is where they get lunch because Mari loves the aesthetic.

-for their last day (yeah this is out of order but who cares) they park hop, ending in magic kingdom and staying for the fireworks. Our favorite designer wears these lovely light up ears

-when they went to animal kingdom on the first day you KNOW Mari had some cute ears

-shh don’t tell the boys and Nathalie but Felix actually asked Mari to be his girlfriend when they were in Hollywood studios

-they walked off together, and sat on a bench somewhere sharing a snack

-our extra boy asked if she could be his girlfriend with matching beauty and the beast rings

-Mari said yes and she smiled soooo much.

-it’s kind of hard to explain everything so let’s just talk about the interesting stuff!!

-they do go for one day in Disneyland but most of it’s spent going to get some inspiration for Mari.

-also some normal Knick knack shopping, so Mari gets some time away from staring down at her tablet and sketchbook.

-also, Felix and Mari go on their first date. I say first date Very Loosely because it’s actually them sitting in Mari’s hotel room eating pizza and watching a movie and though they both consider it a date, they want to have a cute, cliche first date when they back home.

-Speaking of home...

-They are about to fly back to Paris when they get a message from Jess, one of the girls who found Adrien in NY.

-It was a message from her asking if she could check her latest tweet.

-it was a recording of Jess playing guitar, the song (an instrumental version of Miraculous but slightly modified) being wonderfully sweet. Aeon, the other girl, was also in the video, humming along to Jess. At the end, Jess dedicated the video the them and they both gushed about how nice they were in person and that both of them had waited until they had the arrangement ready before they posted it on social media.

-it thawed even Felix’s icy heart.

-and as they flew back to Paris, Nathalie couldn’t help but think of what a perfectly wonderful trip it had been. Minus... the accidents.

-But there’s no need to talk about that here.

-They reach Paris safe and sound, and Marinette takes a long, long nap right before she goes into creative mode and sews all the outfits she had sketched. Advantages of being rich, you know? You don’t have to worry about fabric price.

-While Mari was sewing, everyone else was also slowing down.

-And gearing up to go back to school

-*dramatic music*

-What will happen next? Even I have no idea!

It’s almost like.... I exist??? Haha, but seriously, sorry for sort of going MIA??? I finally finished this, mostly by getting lazy towards the end. Yes, before you say it, I don’t hate NYC. It’s cool there, I just love making fun of it and the fact the special cam eout a few days ago is just pure irony. All of those links should work, so you can actually buy the Disney things I’m talking about! If they aren’t, please tell me so I can fix them. Next up is the Nathalie mentioned “Accidents”. That should take way less time because I’m going to go with the tried and true method of “Make stuff up and hope it makes sense”. I say should because you never know with me, I’m a mess ❤️❤️❤️

so... many... AUs...

@jellicle-ho @whitmerule @bullseyegames (because you sent an ask about the Mafia AU and I just thought I’d tag you in this!) @storyweaverofgondor (just thought you might like to know about more AUs!) and of course I have to tag the wonderful people who caused all of these AUs, @dcjelliclequeen33, @queencurlycrown, @kineticjellyfish and @terpsichorian (these are all YOUR FAULTS and i LOVE YOU ALL VERY MUCH)

Human AU

This is the AU I have going right now on Ao3, and it’s mainly focused around Tugger, Mistoffelees, and their twelve children because they just can’t seem to stop adopting kids!

The AU is essentially a series of connected shorts following the Deuteronomy-Jones family and their life, so there’s not really a set summary that I could give that would actually make sense 😅

All the kids are amazing, wonderful, awesome original characters who either belong to myself, @dcjelliclequeen33, @queencurlycrown, or @terpsichorian (they’re coming in soon, I PROMISE), and Browrey (@kineticjellyfish‘s wonderful OC) is also going to be a regularly featured character now that the establishing shorts have been finished!

It’s very fluffy right now, but there’s some heavy angst that I’m going to be posting soon, and I’ve got quite a few shorts pre-written for it, which I’m very happy about!

In it, Macavity is a more complex character, and will eventually end up becoming a positive character in their lives, but it will take some time and will not be an immediate thing that happens.

The entire story is one big collaboration between myself and the four wonderful people who I’ve listed above, so this AU is extremely special to me!

Mafia AU

This one I have not started posting yet, but it is in the works, and I’ve nearly finished the first chapter/short for it, and I’m hoping to finish a few more this week before I start classes!

It follows the lives of Macavity, Munkustrap, and Tugger Deuteronomy, the trio of brothers who are the heads of the most powerful family in London.

In this AU, the trio of brothers are as close as can be. Nothing can tear them apart, and they have an inner circle that is comprised of Alonzo, Demeter, Bombalurina, Mistoffelees, and a select few others (who will be original characters that have been mentioned before!)

Similarly to the Human AU, this AU will be a series of connected shorts!

Macavity is the “leader” of the group, the one who handles the connections to other families in the area, Munkustrap works with the business side of the family, and Tugger acts as the brawn, while also maintaining the appearances of the family.

@soh-da-meatball did an AMAZING drawing that absolutely blew me away, and it perfectly shows how Tugger is the dramatic one of the trio, putting on airs, while his brothers appear to be the more serious ones.

Again, this is another collaboration between myself, @dcjelliclequeen33, @queencurlycrown, @terpsichorian, and @kineticjellyfish, and it will be featuring our OCs!

Flower Shop/Tattoo Shop AU

This AU features Hestia and Jubilee, and @queencurlycrown is completely to blame for it!! It will most likely be a one-shot of sorts, but I can’t want to get started on it!

Hestia works at her dad’s tattoo shop part-time to help pay bills to get through art school. She makes a reputation for herself, and eventually meets and befriends Jubilee, a creative writing student attending the same college who wants to get a tattoo after moving into her dorm. The two instantly become friends, and Tugger basically adopts Jubilee right then and there.

Across the street, at a flower shop owned by a man named Mistoffelees, two art students, Tumblebrutus and Mungojerrie, work to pay off their own loans. Both are dance and theater student majors, and both are dorks.

The four meet when Jubilee enters the flower shop to pick up something for her dorm, and the boys spot her tattoos. Jerrie is immediately entranced by the bookworm, and invites her to a dance being held by his theater club, and Jubilee accepts. Tumblebrutus follows Jubilee’s directions to Tugger’s tattoo shop, where he and Hestia meet, and realize that they were once each other’s childhood sweetheart, and he invites her to the same dance.

Loads of fluff ensues!

Mermaid/Pirate AU

Again, this AU features lots of OCs!!

Tumblebrutus, Pouncival, Mungojerrie, Rumpleteazer, Browrey, Plato, and Bijoux are all crewmembers aboard Growltiger’s pirate ship. Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer were adopted by the pirate as children, Tumblebrutus, Pouncival, and Plato were found by him as teenagers, and Browrey and Bijoux were kidnapped one afternoon while the ship was in port and brought aboard.

One afternoon, Tumblebrutus hears a voice singing, and is instantly entranced when he looks overboard and sees a red-haired mermaid looking back up at him. Pouncival joins him, and they see a group of merpeople join the mermaid before they disappear.

Hestia, as well as her siblings, are all interested in the humans on the pirate ship, so they follow it around as it pillages, and they notice that the humans aboard are kind, except for the captain, obviously.

They meet the crew once on land, and sparks fly between all members of the crew and the siblings, who make it their mission to free the crew from the clutches of Growltiger.

Newsies AU

This AU was hinted at back during Tuggoffelees Week, and basically follows the same storyline as the Newsies musical!

Tugger is the leader of the London newsies, and he meets Munkustrap and his little sister, Jemima, who are looking to make some money after their parents died. He grows to care for both the siblings, and eventually Tugger also meets the young reporter, Mistoffelees Jones, and the two get off on the wrong foot, butting heads as Tugger flirts with him, but Mistoffelees will have none of it.

Both Tugger and Mistoffelees have their own secrets that they hide from each other, but Tugger’s secrets end up hurting both himself and the newsies that he calls his family.

Mistoffelees has to face the man that he unfortunately calls his father in order to help Tugger, and help his own family, and the newsies have to work against their own pain to help their brother out of the hole he’s dug for himself.

Multiple AU

This is basically going to be all those “trope mash-up” asks that I did.

I’m going to make one big post on Ao3 for them, and make one chapter per ask, going off of the summary that I did! All of those asks are on my blog under the tag “trope mash-up”, so if you’d like to send another one, or want to check them out, please do!

So it’s basically just a bunch of AUs that are grouped together, so this COUNTS and that’s why it’s on this list!!

I have no ideas for this AU yet, but I love it, so it’s @jellicle-ho‘s fault that this is on the list (i’m kidding i love this AU and i will absolutely be writing something for it)

I’m like... 95% sure I’ve missed at least one of my AUs because I have a... startling amount of AUs, but here are the ones that I’m actually working on and will be posting!

Why did you start writing on Tumblr?

I found it easier to gain feedback and find an audience of readers on Tumblr, plus the site was just easier for me to navigate compared to like Wattpad

Do you write fluff/angst/crack/general/smut, combo, etc? Why?

I write anything I feel like writing, and am open to trying new stuff. I just won’t write smut. I don’t feel comfortable writing or reading it

Do you write OCs, X Readers, Ships...etc?

I write x readers

Who is your favorite person to write about?

I don’t have a favourite person, mainly because I pick people based on who I think would fit a certain concept best. I guess my favourite would be y/n LOL because y/n is in every fic and I put myself into their character.

What inspires you to write?

I just like writing. I get a lot of ideas of stuff I want to write, and as a kid I wanted to be an author, but that obviously isn’t happening anytime soon so I just write fanfics. They’re easier to write because characters are already developed for you, and they don’t have a word limit to how long and short they need to be compared to actual OC fics

What genres/AUs do you enjoy writing the most?

Anything that relates to normal people, I enjoy writing. I like to insert my own experiences and thoughts in my stories so I write scenarios that I can imagine myself in or things I’ve experienced already, stuff like that

What do you hope your readers take away from your work?

I just want them to enjoy what I write. I’d like for my fics to be memorable, but idk if they are lol

What do you do when you hit a rough spot creatively?

I just don’t write. It’s bad but I don’t want to write something that I don’t like so I don’t force myself to write when I don’t feel like it. If it takes me months to get out of that rough spot, then oh well. I don’t want to force myself to do anything that would make me hate writing, since it's one of the only few hobbies of mine.

What is your favorite work and why? Your most successful?

Most successful is murder replay. My favourite is an unreleased fic that I’m still working on. It’s pretty self-indulgent, and I talk about internal conflict with sexuality and not knowing what you really want, alongside being insecure and having mental illnesses. It’s angsty but it’s one of my favourites because of how much of myself I’ve poured into it

Do you think there’s a difference between writing fanfiction vs. completely original prose?

It’s the same. Aside from the character being a real life person, fanfiction is the exact same as prose because it’s completely original ideas and thoughts, completely original sentences, and in general just the exact same as original prose. There’s like no difference.

What do you think makes a good story?

A writer who enjoys what they’re doing. It doesn’t matter your skill level or your language skills, or whatever. If you are passionate about what you write, then it will be evident in the story, and it will be a great story. There’s other things like the story idea and genre, but that’s all dependent on the reader. What I think makes a good story is different from what someone else thinks makes a good story. But in general, it’s the author that makes it good. You can tell if the writer really liked what they were doing, or if they were just writing for the sake of throwing words on a document and then calling it a day.

What is your writing process like?

Get an idea. Make a doc with that idea. Either immediately try and develop details, or leave the idea as is for months, maybe years. After developing the details, write the beginning of the fic, a few scenes I really liked, and then call it a day and never open the document for a few months again lol. Then I wait until I’m in the mood to write for that specific fic, and then I will write as much as I can. Finishing fics is a struggle, I’ve yet to finish my longer ones lol. I have a terrible writing process. The only way I really finish is if I already told my followers i will post it and theyre all waiting for it. Then I feel bad leaving people hanging and so it motivates me to finish. But yeah once I actually finish it, I throw it into grammarly and some other editors, fix stuff up, and publish.

Would you ever repurpose a fic into a completely original story?

Doubt it. Once I’m done with a fic, I’m done. I don’t really want to go back and change anything. Even the longer fics that I love, I get sick of them and so I just dont want to touch them once they're done.

What tropes do you love, and what tropes can’t you stand?

I’m a huge sucker for childhood best friends to lovers lol. I have gushed about this on my blog a few times. Just the fact that you know someone for that long, and even been through arguments and times of not talking to each other, just to still come back to each other, thats real love even if its platonic. I’m just a sucker for that stuff. I also really enjoy anything that I, as a normal person, can relate to so high school AUs, college AUs, platonic AUs, anything real life based. There’s no tropes that I can’t stand, just tropes I don’t find interest in or don’t read much.

How much would you say audience feedback/engagement means to you?

Depends on how long i took to write the fic. If it’s a short piece ranging between a few hundred words to maybe a couple thousand words then I don’t really care much because chances are I didn’t take long to write it. My pieces that are longer than 5k, I care about because those are usually the ones more close to my heart, and the ones I spent way more time than necessary working on. Even just one reader telling me they enjoyed my story makes my day

What has been one of the biggest factors of your success (of any size)?

I know murder replay which is my current biggest story blew up, and I feel like part of it was because of the frequent updating I did. I kept a schedule and made sure to stick with it, even changing parts of the story to fit feedback from readers. Consistency was definitely key, and also engaging with readers. Replying to all their reblogs even if it was just tags they added, constantly expressing how grateful I am, stuff like that because it makes people feel that they’re validated as well. And I guess the general idea/trope of the fic was interesting to people too

Do you think fanfic writers get unfairly judged?

Yeah lol. It’s definitely something I hide from everyone I know in real life because I dont want to be looked down on.

Do you think art can be a medium for change?

Yes!! Art defies boundaries set by language, especially visual art. Stories are a good way to express things to people who don’t understand why something is the way it is, it’s literally what has been done by humans since the start of time. We pass down stories explaining things.

Do you ever feel there are times when you’re writing for others, rather than yourself?

Yeah, sometimes when I felt really burnt out, I felt I had to post an update or something just so that my followers got what they kinda signed up for when they followed me. It was partially just the pressure I put onto myself I guess because my followers are always supportive and understanding when I say I cant post an update. I’d also say in general there’s a part of me that wants to write for others too. I would be lying if I said I only write for myself because that’s not true. The whole reason I write and post is because I want some reader interaction and feedback, and if I truly did only write for myself I wouldn’t be posting.

Do you ever feel like people have misunderstood you or your writing at times?

Not yet! And I hope I don’t have to experience that lol

Do your offline friends/loved ones know you write for Tumblr?

Nope. No one does. It’s something I wanna keep to myself. Even some of my other internet friends don’t know.

What is one thing you wish you could tell your followers?

I purposely send a bunch of messages because I feel bad leaving people on read so I just keep sending hearts and stuff to express my love but also just so that you can end the convo when you feel like.

Do you have any advice for aspiring writers who might be too scared to put themselves out there?

Go for it! It might be scary to get criticism, but I promise there are way more nice people on Tumblr than there are mean people. In fact I haven’t even interacted or met with a mean anon or person on here yet. Also the only way to really start is to go for it. I get anxious too every time I post something, even now, and honestly its just a feeling ya know. Its just chemicals in your body. So don’t stress, and if you always need someone to boost your ego and promote your work you have me!

Are there any times when you regret joining Tumblr?

Nope

Do you have any mutuals who have been particularly formative/supportive in your Tumblr journey?

The memorable ones are Mimu, Nini, Gwen, Philo, and Krystal who were supportive of murder replay. Also sunflower anon and peace sign anon, and recently Jo has been really supportive.
