Trans creator Melody Iza created the animated short Off the Shelf, which was a finalist in the 2014 Nickelodeon Animated Shorts Program! It follows the workplace antics of Ashley the cat and her canine best friend Max!
You can watch her short below! I found it to be cute...and touching!

Replacing physical buttons and controls with touchscreens also means removing accessibility features. Physical buttons can be textured or have Braille and can be located by touch and don't need to be pressed with a bare finger. Touchscreens usually require precise taps and hand-eye coordination for the same task.
Many point-of-sale machines now are essentially just a smartphone with a card reader attached and the interface. The control layout can change at a moment's notice and there are no physical boundaries between buttons. With a keypad-style machine, the buttons are always in the same place and can be located by touch, especially since the middle button has a raised ridge on it.
Buttons can also be located by touch without activating them, which enables a "locate then press" style of interaction which is not possible on touchscreens, where even light touches will register as presses and the buttons must be located visually rather than by touch.
When elevator or door controls are replaced by touch screens, will existing accessibility features be preserved, or will some people no longer be able to use those controls?
Who is allowed to control the physical world, and who is making that decision?

Seeing Ben Shapiro and his ilk froth at the mouth about how the Barbie movie is "the most woke, most anti-men movie I've ever SEEN!!!" is so fucking funny because like. This? THIS is the "wokest" movie you've ever seen? Like yeah, it's a fun movie and it's critical of the patriarchy and all, but this is still like... very Gender-Studies-101 stuff. I've seen comic strips more 'anti-men' than this. I think if Ben Shapiro ever read an Audre Lorde quote he'd straight up turn to dust

it's like a mix of anger, feral, emotional breakdown, and complete sadness that just fucks me up soooo fucking bad.
it's like she's a pet who got abandoned by their owner but they see them again after years of sadness and depression of them being gone and leaving them like that and all that anger and sadness just manifest's into one bundle of emotion's towards them they cannot control.

A curious thing has happened with the proliferation and ultimate subjugation of culture by the internet; a sense of sameness, an aesthetic once daring quickly adopted and replicated en masse. Generalizations aside, this is why I have found such joy in print publications, either produced pre-1980 or covering artists who worked pre-1980. A few exceptions are made for photographic portfolios - I do collect the works of contemporary photographers - but in terms of sheer inspiration, it is this time gap that serves so well in looking beyond the seeds of whatever the current zeitgeist may be.
#OffTheShelf today, the March 1965 issue of Playboy Magazine. Given the state of technology, I think the classic “I read it for the articles” may ring truer than ever, given similar material is available in an instant for free. Nonetheless, the highlighted spreads here feature Graham Hill (with Sir Stirling Moss on the page prior), Shel Silverstein, and a few vintage advertisements to boot. The ads are of particular interest in this category of collection, and may feature at a later date.
