how do you make amvs? like do you plan them out before editing the clips together or do you do something different? im getting interested in making amvs and yours have always felt really cool to me

i will say that i taught myself to edit by trial and error and have learned all i know from watching amvs and making my own based upon What I Like, so. you know. there might be better resources out there idk ive not used them. mainly i do recommend just watching amvs you like, noting how they’re put together and what you find particularly effective about them.

but let’s talk about my process of making an amv. i listen to a lot of music and whenever i hear a song that a) goes hard and b) has interesting rgu-relevant lyrics im like ohohohooho. i’ll listen to the song on loop whilst im working/commuting/whatever and try to figure out what the song is trying to say, and how what the song is trying to say would change when put together with rgu. i might scribble down some notes, usually ‘MUST USE X SHOT FOR THIS BIT’ or a sentence or so of ideas about the theme i want to come through in the amv. when i actually start editing an amv, i typically have a rough outline of what i want it to look like, but i give myself the space to change that plan up bc sometimes you have to do that for whatever reason. idk. im quite loose and fast with the whole thing tbh

here are some principles i do try to stick by tho they might be helpful

figure out what you want the amv to say, and make sure you convey that

if it’s thematically relevant, and you can justify using it, put the clip in

if you just think it looks cool, keep looking for something else. sometimes ‘looking cool’ can be your justification for a clip, but i normally avoid it if it lacks meaning/contradicts what im trying to say

pick out episodes that are particularly relevant to your theme and try to primarily use those. when i want to grab a clip from outside ‘my episodes’, it’s always something specific like a shadow play id like to put in this context or a particular scene in an otherwise irrelevant episode

know your song!!!! listen to it with headphones, pick up on all the little nuances of it, try to use those to your benefit when editing. every time i edit an lc! song i become 10000 times more powerful bc i know all of their songs inside out

watch your amv over and ask yourself, what narrative have i conveyed here? if it doesn’t quite make sense, you should tweak it

sorry I kind of went insane thinking about Lalo with a big pregnant belly full of huge moving pups. I think the average is 5, but I've seen dogs with up to 11 pups in them. perhaps. perhaps even growing little teats so he can feed the whole litter when they come out. oh my god and when they come out. 3 day labor, I want that man screaming himself hoarse the whole time while nacho holds him up against his chest so they still have gravity in their favor. maybe comforting him with some kisses and licks to the neck. and maybe rewarding Lalo for it all afterwards by fucking him the second the last pup and placenta are out

Archery was the representation of history and tradition forgotten by time. For the mere fact that Sova professionally used it on the battlefield, it scored him some extra points. (Notably towards the younger agents.)

"I remember trying those archery things when I was a kid cause I wanted to look cool." Neon was awed at the futuristic design on Sova's bow. "My back hurt like hell the next day though, so I gave up."

It's alright Neon, Sova did horribly on his first day as well. Ahem ahem.

Once upon a time; First arrow, First step towards the greatness hidden from humankind.

The next day, the arrow misses and goes through his Babushka's favorite knitted blanket. Never has he felt so terrified in his life. The end.

Speaking of knitting, I can see Sova enjoying Omen's knitted crafts since he thinks it's so warm and homey! Like he was always told to stay warm despite enjoying the cold.

Omen knitted Sova that black beanie for Secret Santa.

Sova is THE go-to person on missions if the atmosphere is tense. (Unless he was part of the cause of it or your Cypher).

He gives the older brother vibes to the younger agents, need advice? He'll give you some, only if you your advice in return. That's how the world heals: pure support.

Too cold in Icebox? He'll lend you his massive fur coat, big enough to provide warmth for 3-4 people.

One of the most resourceful agents in Valorant, give some scrap and watch it transform to a simple masterpiece.

He probably throws darts as a backup in case he doesn't have his bow beside him.

Darts, muscle sweaty arms of intense Sova dart match, his toned back... AHEM.

When they found out about this niche talent of his, ohohohooho you better get ready for your sleep schedule to get interrupted Sova.

This leads to him getting forced into a competition between the agents! Only bet Jett wins against Yoru every time cause she experienced the tricks Sova uses firsthand. (A.k.a. Plan R in case she buys too many knives.)

Do you guys know how Sova, Breach and Raze first interacted? Sova was practicing his lineups while Breach was testing his blinds. The Russian shot the arrow, and with perfect accuracy, landed inside Breach's arm. And jammed the whole thing.

Breach was not happy. Raze swore she lost all her bones from holding back her partner in crime, best friend, and brother forever, from attacking the Russian.

Brimstone is another Father to Sova.

So Brimstone locks the three of them inside the storage room like a dad handling his children's arguments. (Viper did not approve but kept her mouth shut once she saw them getting along when she exited her lab.)

Teaches the others how to treat their wounds without Radiant powers or technology. The old-fashioned bandages way. Sova does not like Sage or Skye tiring themselves out.

Is very interested in Astra's studies! He picks up the name of the star and their origins once in a while.

During woodcarving lessons, he carves all the beautiful birds he remembers seeing in the past. To the best of his extent. (Cue to the time Fade wheezed during her first lesson when she saw what he was carving. Sova stared at her stone-faced and she wheeze harder.)

No because he kinda laughed too. (During that time, everyone was a bit more chill around Fade. Looking at you Chamber.)

Let me tell you, he can stand his ground against Reyna. She stops and eventually targets other agents, only for him to show up again. She ends up just toning down and waits until they’re on the battlefield.

He does not care for Cypher. No. He. Does. Not.

(Deep down, he does. This is the only reason why he doesn't act hostile towards Cypher when he's being buddy-buddy. He just keeps quiet. And quietly explodes when he's a bit irritated with him.)

Has a nice afternoon drink with Sage when they're on a downtime. Sage likes teaching Sova her favorite hairstyles. My personal favorite: Sova braided man bun.

Sova's hair > Agent's hair/head/shadow > Chamber's crusty gelled hair.

1 - What fic of yours would you recommend to someone who had never read any of your work? (In other words, what do you think is the best introduction to your fics?) Mmm… I think that's either my first posted Royai - "Silent confession" because imo it ballanced setting the scene, inner contemplations and actual interuction - or Twiyor "The things I feel now I never thought I'd find" basically for the same reason.

What do you think? 😊 Was "Is this the ending of what we've begun?" the first read for you?

14 - Are there any tropes you would only read if written by a trusted friend or writer? I suppose it's not really a trope but anything that involves a love triangle. I can't even explain it, but the situation just irks me too much. I do indulge in occasional spikes of jealousy but I don't handle outright infidelity well. Even in fiction.

8 - What song would make a great fic (to either write or read)? Ohohohooho, there are a lot. But I have a particular one. I meantioned it once on server and never returned to it but I still think it's a cool case for "Would it be fucked up if…" 😄

The song is "Corpse Bride" by Green Apelsin. Copying my attempt at translating the lyrics and the stuff I came up with under the cut.

What if soon after Maes returned from Ishval (or right before his arrival) Gracia died? Maes in desperation asks Roy for help. Roy hesitates - he knows this is a taboo and he already did may unspeakable things. Doing another one… this might be his breaking point.

So Maes finds some other shady alchemist who agrees to do it. But he lies to Maes. So this is not a human transmutation but some necromancy that makes corpse to become basically something zombie-like. Or like in Games of Thrones where Drogo was "returned to life".

They can talk and have some mixed remnants of memories. So it seems as if Gracia recognises Maes and is glad to see him. But she can stop mid speech as if in some daze. She doesn't sleep. She doesn't know she died. She doesn't understand why Maes refuses to visit her parents. Why he avoids looking at her at times.

Then she finds memoir/necrologue in newspaper. Or hears Roy arguing with Maes next room about dangers of pulling one over on nature. After a while less and less of true Gracia remains in her body. She is helpless, she is angry - and at Maes too. And she becomes dangerous to him.

So either he ends this. Or Roy volunteers to save Maes from this (this line he crossed already; it is not exactly easy, but he remembers Riza's words about "freeing" - and here the purpose is to free this shell of Gracia and Maes from despair).

The hallways are empty when you leave the canteen, silent except for the distant vibrations of the engines. They’re always there, buzzing through the walls of the ship and rumbling through the inclined walkways of the deck. You never liked them as a child, and according to your father, would spend much of your time cowering in bed, curled into yourself, hands clasped over your ears to block out the sound. The noises weren’t particularly loud, the vibrations nowhere near violent, but for a small child who measured like an ant next to the coliseum that was the engine room, every sensation was horrifically amplified.
