Oh absolutely, Anon! We would be happy to answer any of the questions for Hero always! We love talking about him and actually have a lot of headcanons about #24 (his love language) so thank you for asking that! In fitting with the game though, we'll answer these questions in Hero's POV (or at least will try our best to). We hope you'll like what we come up with! Thank you and take care! 💙

(These are post-good ending and have some OMORI spoilers. We also added some game sprites because we thought it would be fun 😁)

HERO Answers:

22. What's the easiest way to flirt with you?

Oh...uh...do people flirt with me? I'd really rather they didn't...

It's very flattering, but um...honestly I haven't really been interested in any of that ever since Mari...

But I can still try to answer for you… Mari always said I wasn't very good at picking up her (apparently extremely obvious) signals, so I'm honestly not sure if I'd even recognize that someone was flirting with me. 😅 I was honestly pretty oblivious back then, and I think I still am. Apparently, my friend Brandi tried to flirt with me when Kel, Sunny, and I visited her house on the day before Sunny was supposed to move away, but I didn't notice that either. In that case though, I think that's just Brandi being Brandi haha and we're just good friends so she didn't really mean anything by that.

But in Mari's case...we really did care about each other in that way and were sweethearts so...I really probably should have picked up on her flirting a little bit more. She used to tease me a lot and compliment me. I'm not sure I really realized she was flirting until she was just really direct about it, though, like just flat-out calling me "good looking." She'd wink at me with this bright, teasing smile and get this sort of laughing look in her eyes before she'd just start giggling and I'd blush and get flustered which would just make her giggle even more.

Mari loved to tease to show affection. I think that's something we had in a common because I like to do that too, but in a bit of a dryer, more subtle way than Mari, I think. She was much more playful and giggly about it than I ever was, so it was a little different but still the same kind of thing.

I don't think that's just a romantic thing though. We both teased our siblings and our friends a lot too. I used to tease Kel all the time when we were closer, but...um...I'm not sure we have that kind of relationship anymore so I don't do too much of that these days.

Honestly, I don't think I tease anyone too much these days, not even in a friendly way but especially not in a romantic one. But I suppose I still like that sort of playful teasing as a way to show affection. I guess flirting would fall in that category too...maybe? I'm not sure.

24. What would you consider your main love language?

Definitely Acts of Service. I've always really loved doing things for people and taking care of them. It's one of the reasons I've always loved to cook for my friends and family!

I try to be mindful of other people's love languages too though, and try to figure out what my family and friends' love languages are so I can try my best to speak it for them.

Kel loves giving people things for instance. He gave me a cookbook just for coming home from college for the summer which was very thoughtful. I try to buy him thoughtful gifts too, and sometimes will pick fun little things up for him "just because," and he seems to really appreciate that.

Sunny's love language is definitely quality time, and now that he has moved to the City, I try to make a point to meet up with him and take him around to lots of my favorite spots around town. He loves going to my favorite coffee shop (probably because it's close to a mattress store haha), but I've taken him to a lot of parks and museums too or sometimes we just hang out at his apartment and watch tv or play games.

Mari's love language was quality time too, I think, but she also really liked physical touch. She was very cuddly--a lot more cuddly than me, I think, but I always tried to be more cuddly and affectionate with her because I knew how much it meant to her.

It's not always easy to receive love in the same way we give it away though. I always feel kind of awkward whenever someone wants to do things for me, even though that's how I would want to show love to them. I guess, I just don't want to be a burden on them or cause them any trouble. I'll admit that I always felt so loved whenever Mari would help me do the dishes though.

Another one! What do u think abt selectively mute Sunny n the gang learning ASL for that? (Mine are Mari started it, she also knows it best, then in order from good to terrible are Sunny, Basil, Hero, Aubrey, Kel)

I really think that selectively mute Sunny is something both cute and sad at the same time, because he only talks when close to specific people.

I remember seeing this tag every time I wrote Sunny in Ao3 tags and when I searched what Selectively mute was I was like "daamn1!! New headcanon discovered"

BUT I like the idea of Sunny being completely silent and he'd only say two or three words when asked something and everyone would be like "WHAT THE FUCK HE TALKS??1?!1!!"

(Yes, English is not my first language so I had to look selectively mute up lmao.)

AND I HAD TO LOOK UP ASL TOO LMAOOO I LOVE IT SM 2;(2+$91-$; ANOTHER HEADCANON DROPPED.

Theory: 【Oshi No Ko】 will be the title of Shima's movie for Kana

The reason why 【Oshi No Ko】's title never drops the lenticular brackets 【】 is because it will likely be the title for the movie that Arima Kana will star in, the "masterpiece" promised to her by Director Shima.

Most of us know by now that Arima Kana's character was based off of Ashida Mana, a famed child actor in Japan that international fans may know from Pacific Rim.

Anyone think Kana's berets are a parallel to Mana's red shoe?

After getting famous from the TV Drama "Mother" in 2010 at age 6, they tried capitalizing on her fame by getting her into music, to little success. Mana-chan says in an interview that she, "sings the songs my mother wants me to sing". In the years that followed, her acting gigs started drying up.

Until year 2020, when award-winning Director Tatsushi Omori cast her at 16yo in the lead role of the film 【Hoshi No Ko】. Literally translated, Child of the Stars or Star Child, but with the Western release title Under the Stars.

A Child Star in a film called Star Child, hmmm.

This move in her career was paramount as a springboard for her comeback, until she had recently been awarded as Newcomer of the Year in the 47th Elan d'Or Awards.

Coming back to its parallels in the show, Akasaka-sensei and Yokoyari-sensei had an interview with Tsutaya, where they were asked this very question: Why does the title keep the double quotations 【】 and what does it mean?

Just like how people have pointed out that Tokyo Blade had some parallelisms with the characters in Oshi no Ko, 【Oshi No Ko】 may actually become the title of the film that revives her career and regains her renown and respect in the industry.

I believe that this may be a hallmark event in the plot of the story. Or, at the very least, the reward in its resolution.

Either:

Kana's performance in 【Oshi no Ko】 causes Kamiki to pay attention to her, attempt to harm her, and Kana works together with Aqua and everyone else to thwart him. (In this case, instrumental to the plot's resolution.)

Or, 【Oshi no Ko】 will be the film where Arima Kana's acting is so honest and impactful that Aqua is so moved that he realizes he is allowed to enjoy acting and filmmaking in this life, that he is allowed to love Kana honestly, and that he has the right to move on and heal from his trauma. (That is to say, the emotional resolution of Aqua's arc as our main character.)

Option #1 continues to support the theory that Oshi No Ko the manga/anime is meant to be a story about Arima Kana.

But Option #2 supports Aka Akasaka's tweet "Kurokawa Akane is the child who will take me away. Arima Kana is the child who will bring me back."

A reminder that Oshi in the title is spelled as 推し, which literally means Favorite. Oshi No Ko's literal translation is Favorite Child. It is "Hoshi" that means Star, just like in Ashida's movie "Hoshi No Ko".

So why would a Japanese manga title literally named 【Favorite Child】 be given a Western release title as 【My Star】 if it wasn't about her?

How's it going folks? Welcome back to Know Your Monsters! Halloween's is just around the corner, so we got a special treat for you tricksters! For Monstertown's 3rd Hollow's Eve, we've asked you to say some burning questions to some human-turned-spooky specters (and their mortal companions) who popped up in the MTT Hotel to give you this totally planned special! We got your questions, so now we ask... why are you crying?

Witch Mari: *sniff* I'm sorry - It's just - It's our first Halloween with me back - and - I never though we would ever enjoy today like this - aND WE CAN DO SIBLING COSTUMES AGAIN *sobs*

Black Cat Sunny: …I think me not celebrating any holiday for years affected her.

Akita Neru Aubrey: I forgot how into Halloween she was...or, is.

Lucas Frisk: *I recall how hard it was to coordinate costumes with Chara every year! I reckon we will run out of costumes pairs by year 5.

Masked Man Chara: YOU may call me picky, I would call it having actual taste. Hollow's Eve is a personal favorite holiday of mine and I will not muddle it dressing as a technicolor astronaut!

Frisk: *Hey! I point out that it is from a Horror Drama show specifically.

Chara: Why are you so adamant about us having pairing outfits in the first place?!

Frisk: *Because you're my best friend~ (*I make a heart with my hands)

Miku Madotsuki: Sorry my ghost friend couldn't make it tonight, she got so excited for Halloween she kind of got tuckered out and went back into... anyway! I can ask any question in her place! (Um, this interview isn't public outside town, is it?)

Purple Guy-er: You couldn't even bother to get a somewhat matching outfit. Just wearing the mask isn't enough!

Myers Mask Kris: It's more a costume then whatever you're suppose to be.

Player: I. Can't. Change. OUTFITS. This is the best I can do with my colors!

Kris: Then make your body transparent. At least then you'd actually pass as a ghost.

Player: Just give us the first question please, smiley helmet guy.

Okay! This first question towards you two I also want to ask the rest!

Player: Alright, let see, my name is... Player! I'm 19 years old and have been a gamer since... childhood.

Kris: Good job so far.

Player: Well SORRY I don't believe regular people would understand the concept of higher dimensional beings or that they value privacy!

Kris: The entire point of this ask thing is to get a better understanding of us.

Player: Okay well why don't you answer the next one. What do you think our relationship is, honestly?

Kris: Crippled teen and very annoying and social life line.

Player: …I mean I guess...

Mado: Me and my friend we're together for as long as I could remember. I thought she had gone, even when I kept seeing her everyday, but turns out she wasn't really gone in the first place. So... yay!

Frisk: *Chara and I go way back, before the rise of the Underground! Even when I didn't know them, they caught and saved me when I fell pass the barrier and onto the cave floor. That's when I met Chara, and we've been trusted partners ever since!

Chara: I wouldn't call being buried for decades only to be awakened by my soul being attached to a kid akin to a simple trust fall.

Frisk: *Aw, but I recall you even put down flowers for my arrival. <3

Chara: Uuuuugggghhhhh-

Mari: We're siblings of course! I'd like to believe that my will to be by Sunny's side is what kept me around and conscious all these years!

Sunny: …What were you doing all that time I couldn't see you. I know you go to my dreams when I sleep, but what we're you doing when I was awake?

Mari: Well, you know I was invisible when not in Headspace, but I think in some of the... illusions you had were me sometimes.

Sunny: ?! Were you there when I thought you were locked outside?

Mari: No?

Sunny: How about when I drowned and I saw you trying to save me like last time?

Mari: You saw that?

Aubrey: …Were you there when Sunny visited me at the church?

Mari: I would've haunted their every waking moment for you. :)

Aubrey: Th- thanks?

Ah, actually Aubrey, there are two similar asks interested in you and Sunny.

Aubrey: Huh? But I thought this was for-

Aubrey: How do they-! I- I mean...

Sunny: …

Aubrey: He's my friend. He made a mistake, a really dumb, life-changing mistake. Sure I was mad when I found out, furious actually, and then I got more angry at myself when I realized... I almost did the same thing.

Sunny: !

Mari: Oh Aubrey...

Aubrey: You- you gave me somewhere to go when I had nowhere else... even after everything I did to you... so... yeah

Sunny: …You're my friend too Aubrey. I might not feel the same way like back then, but I like what we are now.

Mado: …Got to love the childhood friends trope, huh?

Mado: SUNNY IS. A GOOD PAL. HIS SISTER IS NICE ALSO. GOTTA LOVE JAPANESE SOLIDARITY.

Mado: Eh?! Where did that come from?

Well...

Mado: Na- I only stab things in dreams! Which I guess whoever the hell you get your questions from knows about apparently!!! And I stopped doing much of it after a while! I'm curious but I'm not some intrusive thought following maniac! Who would something like that in real life?

Sunny: I thought dream worlds only held consequences when you wanted them to. I've only learned recently that was not the case.

Mari: To be fair little bro, you could say "you" had a good control of what you dreamt about.

Sunny: Also Kris likes stabbing stuff? I don't remember them being that into it.

Kris: …I have several knives. I keep them in a case to display.

Player: I've seen Sunny walk past it several times. I believe he thinks it's for the kitchen.

Kris: F@#k kinda kitchen needs that many knives.

Frisk: *I wonder why the ask never mentioned Chara.

Chara: I only have the one dagger, Frisk.

Frisk: *And you take care of it like your own kin.

Chara: I use it for gardening! It needs to be cleaned 3 times after use!

Moving on, this next one is for you, Chara.

Chara: Well, I'm not one to brag, but in my living days I was referred to be a "demon who comes when you call their name." I now hold view this title as endearing, as I take pride in seeing how I can personally unsettle humans (and sometimes monsters) with nothing but my words and face. Mari is the nice, gentle, caring older sister of our little ghostly group, so really, I don't see a need for it to be a contest.

Frisk: *I mention the time with the cookies-

Chara: *through gritted teeth* That was admittedly a moment of weakness spurred by my love of chocolate. I acknowledged my defeat that day only to claim what I wanted. A deal was made, so it doesn't count.

Sunny: Never mess with older sisters. They hold a monumental power behind their smile.

Mari: Tee-hee~

That brings me to you, Mari.

Mari: I can say that Mari's Magical Might is only growing with everything I learn! VIOLET HANDS, healing magic, teleportation, and Alphys said that I might even have an affinity for Water Magic as well! Undyne was so excited when she heard that!

Sunny: I think it's cool, I hope being linked to her gives me magic too.

Aubrey: At least you have a chance! I'd pray to the heavens a hundred times if it meant I had powers half as sweet as yours, Mari!

Mari: Aw thank you! As for what my mother thinks, at first she was shocked that I wanted to learn magic, but she quickly changed her tune when she saw that I could help around the house better with my HANDS.

Mari: As for the latter question... unfortunately full controlling shape-shifting is something I'm still getting the hang of. I'll let you know the moment I'd be able to do... that!

Chara: I'd say she's lucky to have as many experienced teachers, such as myself, to help her discovering her power.

Frisk: *I express my relief that Chara has not yet burned a part of the forest during their training with Mari.

Chara: It was ONE time, we agreed with that white furry forest guardian to not train too close to the dense forest. I am not some brainless pyromaniac.

Frisk: *The first thing you did when you could do magic was seeing if you could make a fire sword.

Chara: Well, some fire is obvious, I am a Dreemurr after all.

This next ask is for you, Frisk. This one comes from all the way in Japan!

Frisk: *…These asks are getting way too personal.

Chara: You have just noticed?

Frisk: *How do I say this... If you are referring when I could load the entire timeline to a previous state, then I'm afraid I am not able to do that anymore. I cannot even load my most recent save, the one just after breaking the barrier.

Chara: There is little in this universe, let alone this world, that can affect time with the degree of control that we, er, Frisk had when they first entered the underground.

Frisk: *Even when I did have it, I didn't have much control of it. I only remember it forcing a load when I... lose enough HP. That was enough however, as I didn't use it for anything else.

Frisk: *As to theories on how to get that power back, I can think of a few methods...

Player: You still owe me an explanation on the white sparkle save point thing back in the "DW."

Kris: I don't owe you anything.

Player: You JUST called me your lifeline!

Kris: I don't see other people giving their UV drip a trophy.

Teto Monoko: *sleeps soundly*

Mari: Oh! Well, ask away! There's no shame in a little anonyma-

Mari: Ugh, yeah, I'm fine. You know, ghost biology and all that.

Mari: I'm inclined to agree, but...

Aubrey: Wh- don't tell me you agree with them Mari! It was just an accident, nobody could've how it would end!

Mari: They we're right about one thing though... I was selfish.

Aubrey: W-What...? No, it was-

Mari: You could say it was many things. The pressure from our parents. The pressure from the town. The looks of excitement on our friends faces. It was a lot, but in the end... it was me. I was the one who told Sunny to keep going. After all my fingers swelled. After his fingers started to bleed. After getting one note wrong, after getting the timing a bit off, after thinking it was just F*%KING not good enough apparently!

*Mari's spirit shakes.

Sunny: Mari...?

Mari: I... I said earlier I thought it was my will to be by your side that kept me linked to you. To be honest, I thought that it had to be the case, because the only thing I wanted to do after... everything that happened...

Mari: Was to be a better sister for you. To do- ANYTHING, to redeem my awful, stupid, selfish mistake. I... honestly don't know what else-

Chara: It was your determination.

Mari: …what?

Chara: In your final moments, you decided that whatever you had left, your love of your brother, your fear of failure, the need to repent and be a better person, whatever in your soul that was not fading, was worth still living for.

Chara: The moment you decided that, all of those feelings exploded into life, into determination. And so you kept going, not just for your brother, but also for the small part of you that still wanted to live. That so called selfishness you speak of.

Mari: …H-how... do you...?

Chara: …

Chara: Because I asked that question too.

Mari: Huh...

*Mari notices Sunny's expression.

Mari: Sunny, look at me.

Mari: I... I know I hurt you. I know even if you say that your okay I can still feel what I've done to you even today. And it even might be more selfish of me to say this. But I just want- I NEED you to know,

Mari: However long I have left, if it's just a few months, if it's how long I would've lived before. I promise that I will do everything in my power to be with you. To help up you when you feel down. To stop you from hurting yourself or others. To listen when no one else will. Even if you don't think you deserve it. Even if I think I don't deserve you. I will do anything to be the best sister I wasn't before. Because I love you, Sunny.

Sunny: …

Sunny: …then...

Sunny: I want you to forgive yourself too.

Mari: …

Mari: O-Okay... I'll try...!

Kris: …I wish I had an older sibling.

Player: In another life, buddy.

Kris: …cool.

Sunny: I think... the time I tripped on Mewo's litterbox and spilled it over the floor.

Mari: I'm pretty sure me calling you over to surprise you with a fake spider that day tops that, hehe.

Aubrey: I... patted Basil on the back, accidently opening one of his wounds after That Night. I felt terrible, but he was just glad for me to be worrying about him again.

Frisk: *I recall the hours "we" spent making Dog Residue to buy the elusive Temmie Armor. I equipped it just before Asgore. Not the best time spent.

Chara: The Buttercup Pie. I guess it counts since Dad was just sick from it. Although the ripples that event would cause could count as "life-ruining"

Mado: (Too many to say.)

Mado: I... called one of my teachers by their first name back in my birth town! It was suuuper embarrassing.

Monoko: -- Gomen... -- Monoe-nee... -- cookie... -- oishii...

Player: I did that thing where you held shift to quickly craft things and I accidently made 9 Diamond Hoes in a Hardcore world.

Kris: And the most stupidest thing I will do is just around the corner, so stay tuned for that.

6. What’s the hardest thing you’ve ever had to do?

I've been very blessed not to have that difficult of a life, especially compared to what other people I know have been through, so I'm honestly not sure...

Moving around a lot as a kid was hard. I never really felt like I had roots or belonged anywhere because we would always just have to pack up and leave again. But I'm not sure that's really what the question is asking since I was a just kid and didn't have a lot of choice in the matter.

In terms of something I had to do that I decided for myself, I once had to lie to someone very close to me. It was really difficult because I don't like playing mind games with people and prefer to be direct (and am, often, pretty blunt). It's always so important to me to be honest even if it's a hard truth, but...in this particular case, I just knew that the truth would hurt more than it would help.

There are some things in life that are better left unsaid, but that didn't make it any easier.

23. Have you ever had a crush on someone? Do you have a crush now?

I know I always say I'm "married to school" and don't want to date until I have a master's degree and that's all true, but yes, I have had had a crush on someone before (do I have to say who?)

...It was back in high school. He was brilliant, ambitious, and unbelievably competitive and stubborn, but I'd never met anyone so driven. We kind of had this rivalry to be top of our class and fought all the time which was fun but also probably why it didn't end up working out.

Do I have one now? My friends certainly seem to think so... 🙄 But honestly, I think I only have eyes for my (future) civil engineering degree. 😏

The motor sports carrier is exactly the same as Nissan's motor sports history up to the present day. that genius racing

I asked the driver.

“I never thought I would run until I was old.

There wasn't. At the age of 15, he signed a contract with Nissan Motor Co., Ltd.

He has been a racing driver for 35 years. When he had a busy vehicle development schedule, he was sometimes running on circuits over 200 days a year. I was actually aiming to become a two-wheel Grand Prix rider, but Honda stopped using Japanese riders, and that's when I saw a four-wheel Grand Prix race at Suzuka.

It was attractive because it had a large audience, was broadcast on TV, and offered a large amount of prize money. The following year, he auditioned and was contracted as a driver for Nissan's second team. However, unlike the first team in Oppama's development section, we belonged to Omori's advertising department and did machine maintenance ourselves along with the mechanics. The first army was able to ride the machines provided. However, we had to do everything ourselves, from machine tuning to settings. engine tuning

I was running with that feeling. I'm in charge of Blue Bird, Cedric, and Fairlady. Eventually, when Nissan merged with Prince and the drivers who had been under contract with Prince joined, there were already many competitors and competition for position within Nissan became very difficult (lol).

Eventually, for about two years starting in 1968, Hasemi participated in Grand Prix races in sports cars such as Lola and Porsche as a private activity. Afterwards, he was welcomed back to Nissan's Oppama Works.

``As a manufacturer, we developed parts for people who wanted to race, and we developed machines that would compete in the World Rally Championship, which Nissan was focusing on at the time.Even when we were two-wheelers, we were good at motocross, so we decided to move on to four-wheeled cars. But I was confident that I was faster than anyone else on dirt, and that I wouldn't damage the machine.The 240Z, which took third place in the Monte Carlo Rally, and the 510 and PA10, which were active in the Safari Rally, were all tested by me before they went overseas. The day after racing at the circuit, I raced a rally car in the mountains.

Hasemi, a contract driver for Nissan in the 1970s formed a private team and showed great success in each category until Nissan resumed its works race hiatus. He actively participated in the Fuji Grand Champion Series and the FJ1300 Series, which were the most popular at the time, and made steady progress and won the championship. He also attracted attention by driving the domestically produced Kojima KE007 in the first F1GP held in Japan in 1976. ``At that time, spot participation in F1 was allowed, and the engines, tires, and machines were all great.

He won the four crowns. Eventually, as Nissan's works racing activities became more active, Hasemi became the main driver for Nissan along with his former Omori junior, Kazuyoshi Hoshino. The race for the Group 5 Super Silhouette car that I had envisioned started, and I drove the Skyline, marking the beginning of an era. Nissan began actively participating in endurance races for Group C cars, and began racing at Le Mans and Daytona. ``When we entered the 24 Hours of Daytona in the United States, it felt like we were competing against a huge nation called America.And we went out to win from the beginning, and we won.We had a machine that could win. It's a great feeling for a driver to race in a race where they can give their best from the start.''

Hasemi is now facing a new challenge in the world.

Participating in rally raids. In the Mongolia Rally, we recorded consecutive victories and another new crown. ``The temperature is 40 degrees Celsius, and we are given only 5 liters of water a day.It's difficult to race through the desert.However, there's a joy to it that you can't experience in other motorsports. It's difficult because you're always aiming for the top and trying to lead your rivals.But I think there's also a sense of fun to it that I haven't been able to experience in previous races.There are also races like this. I started to think that it was a good thing to do.”

Hasemi's spectacular racing career. There is confidence and pride in his face as he reflects on his many victories. And when Hasemi talks about rally raids again, he shows a gentle expression despite the severity.

What exactly is Headspace?

Is it a dream? An alternate universe? (TW: mental illness, spoilers)

In this post, I will be discussing a fictional phenomenon resulting from dissociative disorder that exists only in the OMORI universe. I want to impress two seemingly contradictory points:

1) Headspace is simply NOT possible in the real-life. 2) Headspace is still not a alternate universe, its just a dream.

Rather I would like to put forward a soft science fiction explanation using all the information we’ve been given about the topic.

Part 1: Headspace is NOT possible in the real life.

The true nature of Headspace is much close to that of a coma than secret universe. If a coma is sleeping, but longer. Then Headspace is dreaming, but longer. Headspace is not its own universe, just an extended dream that continues in the back of the patient’s mind during waking hours. We know this because whenever Sunny returns to the dream he find things have changed while he is awake. For example, when the Playground Kids enter Jawsum’s employment, and when Omori detains the Deep Well Creatures while Sunny is absent. Furthermore, Headspace creatures do not have sentience anymore than characters in our real-life dreams. Rather they are characters manufactured by the unconscious recesses of our minds. They only appear to have sentience, when in reality they are only puppets being manipulated by the sleeper’s mind. Headspace being only a dream would also explain why every world is tailor made to the individuals symbolic ideas. Much like real-life dreams, every part of Headspace has a symbolic meaning. And if it was just a fantasy world, locations and characters would be more generalized. However, all that being said, I have reason to believe Headspace Disorder has fictional traits that do not exist in real life. Those being:

Dream Stability

Dreams in real-life are very limited in scope and spatial awareness, and more importantly, remembrance is extremely limited. Dreams are not really like real places with clearly defined parameters and object permanence. In fact, most sleepers forget their dreams immediately. Headspace is nothing like this at all. Sunny is capable of maintaining an entire island, and remembering every chest he’s opened. Mr Outback even mentions this. Noting that Sunny has an unusually large world and a big imagination.

However, Sunny’s cognitive skill alone is not enough to change the nature of dreaming itself. Even if it was only a few areas, the level of stability and permanence of the Headspace dream is atypical of real-life dreams and therefore must have some fictional feature. Though it is important to note OMOCAT stated in an interview that only people with “big imaginations” are capable of having White Spaces. (We will be returning to that interview later) So having those skills make having the disease possible in for the “dreamer” but are not enough to make it possible in real-life.

Inter-Dream Communication

On the topic of Mr. Outback, he does indicate that Headspace is a shared phenomenon, and more importantly exhibits a self-awareness of his own place in these shared dreams. This is the main evidence people give for the alternate universe theory. After all, if Outback has a life outside of Sunny’s Headspace he must be an autonomous individual separate from him to some capacity. Outback goes further to even say that Headspace has existed since the beginning of time and even says he’s 33000 years old. An age that feels so oddly specific. Why not say he’s 1,000,000 years? or a billion? Why that age specifically? Outback’s age is roughly the same age as the Venuses of Willendorf, the oldest surviving pieces of human representational art. The oldest of which being only 4000 years off Outback’s stated age.

This means Headspace has been around for as long as Humans have been capable of creating representational art pieces/ stories.

Headspace has existed for a long time. And its a place people “visit”. But the question is, if multiple people can visit this place, does this imply that there can be cross communication between dreamers?

Yes. I think there is some evidence for this in Black Space, from the Stranger’s dialogue.

The Stranger in this conversation speaks with knowledge that only Basil himself would be privy to even saying “let my words reach you one last time” Implying this isn’t just some Headspace creature like the rest. It’s Basil. It’s the real basil speaking to Sunny through dreams.

Seriously just read these statements:

How does Sunny’s mind know Basil waited for him at all? How does it know Basil has things he wants to say to him?

Add the weird Mr. Outback stuff. Add the strange properties that are impossible in real-life dreams. Add OMOCATs comments, its all paints the picture that Headspace is not some run of the mill dream.

But is it really another world? Is it a dream or not?

Part 2: Headspace is likely not a alternate universe.

All of this seems incredibly magical. And by real-life standards it would be, but REAL WORLD is not the real world.

We already know the movie and videogame characters of real life don’t exist in Faraway Town or vice versa. Their world is like our world but slightly different. The biggest difference of all being Headspace. But what do we know about it for sure? Without further ado, lets see what OMOCAT has to say. Look at how they respond when asked about Basil’s White Space.

They even talk about it from “personal experience”, if that doesn’t ground it in reality, what will?

At this point I’d like to add that I use the term “Headspace” rather liberally, White Space is the foundation of Headspace, the latter cannot exist within an individual without the former. Think of White Space as the canvas and Headspace as the drawing. The OMOCAT states outright that “White Space is based on the ability of some people to completely isolate their minds when something traumatic happens”. This has lead many people to suspect that Headspace/White Space are not an alternate world but rather a symptom of Dissociation. Darly Talks has already done a full video on the topic and I would encourage everyone to watch it.

This theory of White Space being connected to Dissociation is almost confirmed. Based on OMOCAT’s interview above and some hints in the game (like Humphrey soundtrack H2O HLC being a nod to Dissociation) I think this should just be accepted as the foundational truth. However, Dissociation doesn’t explain everything; people in real-life experiencing dissociation don’t get to visit Headspace headspace overnight. The closest real life equivalent to Headspace would probably be “Lucid Dreaming” a phenomenon where a sleeper is able to control their own dream.

But Lucid Dreaming has no attachment to dissociation, but like Headspace is more adaptable to certain individuals rather than others. As stated in the interview above, some people can’t make a White Space. Perhaps at this point it would be premiant to build a profile of who is more likely to be “able to do it” in OMOCAT’s words. Based on what we can guess its probably:

Sunny, Basil and Hero

OMOCAT doesn’t outright state whether Basil has a White Space, but as stated before, Basil communicates to Sunny in his dream through Black Space, so I would conclude it more likely than not that he has one since his mind is stated to be the very source of Something’s existence. Hero on the other hand is a more dicey proposition, we know he was locked away in his room for almost a year based on Kel’s account. Something also of note is how Hero is the only Headspace party member to have a Black and White afraid emotion. He used to have it be purple in the 2018 demo, but they went out of their way to make sure it was black and white for the final release of the game.

The implication here, at the very least, is that Sunny understands that Hero has been effected by Mari’s death in a way close to his own. It also explains why he’s also the only character to get his own room in “The Docks” the deepest area of Black Space. (read my post explaining all the areas of Black Space for more info) But overall, the information we’ve been given is not enough to confirm where Hero had his own White Space. Its a coin flip. 50/50 whether he had one. But lets assume he’s more likely to have it than the others, this creates a profile of intelligence and creative individuals being the deciding factors of who gets a Headspace or not.

Part 3: Sunny’s Choices vs Default Headspace

So what does this all mean? What is Headspace? A Lovecraftian entity? Based on everything addressed thus far, I have reason to believe that Headspace is a medically explainable phenomenon within the OMORI universe, and within said universe the collective unconscious is a very real thing. Meaning Headspace is a shared dream that’s been ongoing since Humanity became sentient. This would explain Outback’s comments about his age and why so many people have access to it. Headspace is not another world, its a shared endless dream. One that will go on until humans die out, or maybe even after. Traumatic events and dissociation allow an individual to escape reality and set up a new Headspace on this collective foundation by hiding away “truths”. Keys appear in these locking them away. Outback talks about it in a way that implies Black Space and the keys are a baked in part of the White Space experience, one a repression of the other.

Lets consider what Daddy LongLegs has to say. He says, after White Space, sleepers will then have multiple dreams. Each dream being redefined as a “world” in this context. Like real-life dreams, Sunny did not make these worlds, his mind did, and LongLegs said he “stumbled through them”. All Sunny’s worlds used to be separated but then later where combined, probably by Sunny himself or even Omori. On the topic of Omori, another interesting take away is how LongLegs implies that there was a period of time Sunny was in control of the dream but then allowed Omori to take over later on.

This means that Omori himself, ironically, is the only part of the Headspace phenomenon that is actually unique to Sunny. Meaning that repressing one’s self is only optional, and entirely of Sunny’s own choosing.

It is unknown whether the inclusion of the “three great creatures” of Headspace was also Sunny’s doing, or if they are a defined part of everyone’s Headspace. The fact that they have defined roles, “Oldest, Wisest, Favorite” implies that it might be a set of characters different to everyone's Headspace, vaguely based on the Freudian Id, Ego and Super Ego. However its also mentioned they existed before Headspace, implying that they are imaginary friends that predated the creation of White Space and thus, might just be unique to Sunny, calling upon them to help him set up Headspace, giving them titles he just made up. But again, its uncertain. Since there is no evidence to Sunny having these imaginary friends refenced in Real World, not even mentioned in passing. So all of it is unclear. I could discuss the roles each member actually played in Sunny’s Headspace, but that is not relevant to the broader discussion here.

CONCLUSION

Headspace is a shared dream of humanity only accessible by imaginative individuals through dissociated dreaming. Every “Dreamer” starts with a White Space and Black Space and from there can explore other dreams all built on the bedrock of the shared dream, but the actual nature of the dream itself is built unconsciously by the mind and is different for every person. Older “Headspace creatures” or dream characters can move between individuals Headspaces at will, and even dreamers may do so to a certain extent. Optionally, Dreamers may choose to repress themselves and forget themselves entirely.
