i say this 100% unironically and as someone who very recently watched rtd1 era twice over; if you think the writing quality of the 60th specials is any worse than the episodes from rtd1 era you either a) need to rewatch all of rtd1 (yes all of it, not just cherry-picked clips), b) are unable to recognize you have outgrown the show and lost your sense of whimsy, or c) are a conservative offended that the progressive sci-fi show is progressive and looking for any reason to hate it. or some combination of these 3 things

#dr who #they are written with like. the EXACT style of flair and camp/silliness as the best from rtd1 era #the only substantial difference to me is that the 60th specials are paced incredibly fast #while mostly this is a good thing and you're not bored whatsoever at any point watching them #i do feel like the giggle couldve benefited from like. an extra 20 minutes. however! #the criticism of 'the 60th has bad writing :(' is. blkjsgjkwf. ok. like. One line was substantially bad. the rest was peak #like if i could put them in my ten era tierlist they safely fall among my absolute favorite episodes from there #the star beast and the giggle are up there w most of series 4 + gridlock and 42. wby is midnight/turn left tier. #if not even better bc (and this is completely personal taste) i LOVE the cosmic horror. it didnt work for me in impossible planet/satan pit #but it ABSOLUTELY worked for me in wby. the setting the mystery the tension and UGH the acting. david and catherine put in the sauce. #14 era

♡ Episode 21 | Final Re-Coupling | GENEVA ISLAND

♡ Autumn has decided that she actually doesn’t mind being single, and so she is a lot more focused on herself and spending her time in the villa however she wants, which includes working out with Rowan. Afterwards, she spent the morning cooking breakfast with all the other islanders. Her and Darion chatted a lot, as they usually do, getting to know him better before the final re-coupling. At the re-coupling, Darion picked her, and so they are the first of the final couples.

♡ Judi spent her morning chatting and hanging with the other islanders. Her and Samora have grown a great friendship in the few short days that they have known each other and feel deep down that they are very similar. At the re-coupling, Rowan picked her, making them the second final couple.

♡ Jasmine woke up and chatted with Samora, getting to know her better. She really values friendships with women and always takes the time to make connections. At the re-coupling, Justin picked her, making them the last of the final couples.

♡ Samora spent her day chatting amongst the islanders. She hasn’t been able to get to know any of the boys in a romantic way, but she has enjoyed making friends with everyone, especially Judi who shares special interests with her. At the re-coupling, she was the last girl standing which makes her the last single islander to be leaving the villa.

♡ Rowan woke up and had his usual morning workout followed by a relaxing drink. He has been able to enjoy the vibes of the villa greatly and is excited to be leaving with amazing memories and even better friendships. At the re-coupling, he chose Judi because even though they have had their fair share of ups and downs while being in the villa, love in the villa is like a rollercoaster which is the same as in real life, and if they can get through it together here, he has high hopes for what comes in the outside. As well, he values the foundation that they have grown together, appreciates her adventurous nature, and couldn’t see himself coupling up with anyone else.

♡ Justin woke up and hung out with the other islanders in the kitchen while making breakfast. Spirits were really high all around and he was able to overcome his issues with Jasmine in order to move forward in their relationship. At the re-coupling, he chose her because in his life so much of what he has been taught has always made sense to him one way or another, but experiencing love on his own has been a journey that no one could truly prepare him for, one that he has lately been questioning if he is even ready for. But even that thought isn’t as scary as the thought of going forward in life without having this girl in his life.

♡ Darion had a really good day and wasn’t tense at all, he has decided that his time is short here and he wants to make the most of it before he regrets not doing so. He had a great time chatting with Autumn and having a few drinks with her. Later at the re-coupling, he chose her because even though they haven’t known each other for as long as some of the other couples, he has loved getting to know her deeply and honestly, and truly wants to grow together, and continue to flourish with her in their new relationship.

Night Dream Episode 4

Another great, but too short, episode. They're 30ish minutes, but it's not enough!

But Dream's confusion and reluctance to believe Night likes him is starting to make sense if Night keeps kissing him and then leaving! And just never talking about it?!

Night looks at Dream with the most sincere expression and asks about his love story.

He says Dream's crush must love him too. And it starts cutting back and forth between the present and the stargazing scene. At which point, I was like, hmm we've already seen this. What else are we going to see here?

(Do you know he's in love with you, Night? Do you know you're in love with him? Who knows what?!)

And they're just staring at each other and getting closer to each other's faces. And Night's got his hand on Dream's wrist, and he's pulling him closer.

And then they're kissing IN BOTH SCENES! They kissed during the stargazing scene? They KISSED during the STARGAZING SCENE!

I don't know when that scene happened in terms of timeline. Like was that kiss why Dream was going to confess on Night's birthday?

But then Night stops kissing. And he looks away. And Dream wakes up alone and proceeds to be sad and distracted all day.

Night's so confused that he asks his friend at school about love, too. I wonder who's absence could hurt you, Night? Maybe think back to when Dream was gone for 4-5 years?

And we see Night and Dream staring at one another before Night leaves. But I wonder what happened. Did Night break up their kiss again? Did Dream? Why does this keep happening? How many times have these two kissed exactly? They both looked so sad and confused and hurt, so why?!??

Dream just sadly puts the wound tending supplies away :(

And we're left with Night's pondering face. But what is there to ponder, Night? You are in love with your best friend, buddy. Process that, so you two can be happy, please!

This guy is going to tell Namwan he likes her next episode? Why, Night! Did he really kiss Dream with tongue and then just never talk about it with him? What is going on in this man's head?!

I'm hoping it's a misleading preview. I wonder if maybe Dream tries to push him away again. And that's why he tells Namwan that. If he kissed Dream, and Dream told him that he likes Namwan, actually, then he must like Namwan, right? How many times can they kiss and not talk about it?

Other random thoughts for the episode, could Dream and his friends hear Night and Namwan talking? Did Dream think Night was agreeing to date her, if they couldn't hear? Because she was saying friend, but her hands were saying lover. I did really enjoy the two friends spying on Dream and Night and just going "Is it clear?" Yes, yes it is clear. I also loved Night asking if he would confess to his crush and bringing up how people in novels will try to confess but lose their nerve if they're interrupted, since Dream did plan on confessing to Night but got interrupted and then never did. Granted, the interruption was the death of his parents, so he had a lot on his mind at the time.

I really loved Night being ready to fight those bullies for Dream in the past and now. And how the one guy was taunting them by saying, what, are you his boyfriend? And Night's response was just "so what?" 🥰

Are you optimistic about season 26?

erm um… no?? 🥲

Season 25 and Streaming Wars had their moments, but overall the delivery of ideas felt lackluster. Much like the last 2 years, I expect a running theme. Essentially, the season won’t really be a season per se, but acts as narrative buildup interspersed with side episodes—though they will loosely connect to the season—leading up to the 2 specials airing later this year. It’s a solid game plan on paper, but s25/SW was super dodgy. I feel the saving grace was Tolkien’s renaming, and Cartman’s whole hot dog arc thing that just got set up. I know Randy was given competition (finally! the little resistance and pushback to his hijinks has done serious damage to his character) but really the biggest takeaway I’ve seen from fans/merch is stuff from Cartman’s arc. (cartitties).

However, I feel Matt and Trey have been revitalized by the concert, Casa Bonita’s opening, and their deepfake deal. It’s a double edged sword though, because now Mattrey are juggling the opening of a restaurant, production for the video game, their deepfake studio… I’m worried their attention will be divided and affect the quality of the story this season.

TLDR: Very mixed feelings, though not quite approaching cautiously optimistic… I expect the fresher ideas (HotDog) to get sidelined and Randy will remain in focus.

I think we’re gonna start to see the latter #I think?? Trey is taking him.. well not towards redemption but… somewhere??? #and I do wanna see stan and tolkien hang out more and maybe that’ll cement the changes in the group dynamic #or maybe it’ll only affect the bus stop openings lol idk #I do feel their friendship is delicate rn and Help My Teen was a step but there’s more re-bonding left to do #and the physical separation of them all is gonna make that a bit more difficult #it’d be nice to see a growing dynamic between Kyle and Kenny. we have! no episodes centered on their dynamic!! #they give me the impression of ‘oh we’re good buddies but only hang with a group and never outside of it’ #they’re the weakest relationship of the 4 for sure and these circumstances can remedy that! #…. watch trey do absolutely nothing with kyle and kenny except have them be reactionary :’) #asks
