Right now you were sitting in the pouring rain on the porch of Tiffany valentine. After being in asylums with nica,going with chucky to insure she doesn’t die then getting betrayed by Tiffany and going to jail 2 months after you turned 18 ,you lied and said that nica forced and lied about the doll after SHE killed everyone.

Just what they wanted to hear.

And you didn’t feel bad about it because you knew that nica had turned her back on you. You had stayed loyal for years then when you met in another asylum after 4 years she had believed that it really wasn’t the doll. Called you out of your name and lead you on.

Tiffany was away and nica was asleep. It was the perfect time.

You had snuck in through the window and went to her and Tiffany’s shared room.

You look at her peaceful expressions. It had sadden you how you enjoyed her looking so nice and peaceful after everything she caused you. If only I would’ve never did that much for her. You thought.

Then got straight to chanting

You made sure to keep it at whisper. You were bringing back chucky. Well…the part that was in nica at least.

“…damballa…awake!” You had the heart with you so it made sure it would work.

It’s not working!

Just then there eyes snap open.

You gasp

“What…what the fuck! Is going on?!” Yep…that’s definitely chucky.

He then looks at you dead in the eye. You can’t help but blush and look down.

“She cut off nicas limps a year ago” you said starting to look up.

He tilts his head to the side less confused and more angry now.

“She…what?!” He then looks down.

“Oh you gotta be fucking kidding me” he says with a sigh.

“I-“ “what the hell has happened?!” He cut you off.

“Well after your bitch of an ex fiancé got me sent to jail I came here to get my revenge.” You say with obvious hate in your voice.

He then looked shocked. “Oh I’m gonna kill her slow” you smiled. “And so you mean…I’ve been like this for over a year?” “Yep” you say with an eye roll.

He started chuckling. “Wow! You know- I-I I really gotta give it to her! That bitch done really really got me!” You knew he was ready to kill her as soon as she walked through that door.

“Well first…you need a new body. Or fixed limps” you said with a sigh sitting your cold,wet ass on the bed.

He sucked in heavily. “How?” You knew just the answer. “There’s a voodoo spell. All have to do is find limps like nicas and sew them back together. Then with the voodoo spell it will immediately heal them and make them fully functional.” You said with a smirk.

He once again tilted his head to the side.

“Well well well…look at what sweet little y/n has planned.” He says with a chuckle.

“Where are we gonna find the body parts?” He asked. “Tiffanys bitchy neighbors.” You said smiling.

“Mhm well ok” he said smiling. “Well then let’s not waste anytime because we don’t know how long she’ll be gone but I suppose probably the whole..well till in the middle of the night sense it’s 5 and she’s busy being Jennifer Tilly and nica was already asleep and ate so I think in the middle of the night.”

You honestly didn’t know but you hoped.

He smiled. But a dangerous smile. “Good girl.” You blush and then went off to the neighbors house.

You had also saw a note that wasn’t for nica but someone else Tiffany forgot to mail to. Probably her neighbors.

“Yup…definitely back in the morning” you sighed out

You came back 5 minutes later with the wife knocked out then got to working which only took 15 minutes.

Then you went up stairs with the wife bleeding out on the ground and most likely dying.

(But you didn’t care)

You made it up the stairs with the body parts and laid everything down like stuff to make sure no huge messes and got ready having chucky in a chair as you kneeled in front of him.

“Sorry. This is really gonna hurt.” You apologized and he just sighed.

“It’s ok.” He nodded his head.

Then you started getting to work completely focused and made sure to attach and Stich on the limps perfectly. You had been done at 7 and it was less bloodier then you thought.

Way faster then you thought to.

And instead of cleaning it up you just immediately started the ritual.

“Shit!” He yelled. “What?! What’s happening?” Yiu asked. Then he calmed down.

“It worked.” He whispered then slightly lifted his leg.

It worked? It worked!

“Yes!”

He then stood up stretching his arms and you decided to get up from your kneeling position.

He turned around to you after looking in the mirror.

He put his hand on your cheek.

“Thank you doll”that made you blush so hard

“You’re welcom-“ then all of a sudden…he kissed you! Before you could even really register it or kiss back,he pulled away and smirked.

“W-well I need to get this all cleaned up” you gulped.

He looked over you. “Ok n/n” he then plopped back down on the bed. You quickly got all of the stuff and went downstairs.

As you made your way down the stairs you knew you heard him yell “you know you killed her right!?” You just sighed because you knew and just continued.

As he was up there you had tiny discussion between surgery about how you were gonna get back at her to start off.

He decided to make a phone call.

It ringed three times “hello?” Tiffany spoke.

“Hiya tiff.” Chucky said amused.

“There’s- there’s no way! NO!” Tiffany exclaimed.

“Oh yes but there is. And with the help of my little precious y/n here…I’m back.”

“That bitch!” Tiffany said with venom.

“Ah ah ah! I wouldn’t say that if I were you.”

“Well…what are you gonna do with them chucky?!” She questioned.

“Well let’s just say…you ain’t never getting ya bitch back.”

Mori Ougai, boss of the ever feared port mafia, sits at the long dining table with his fingers linked under his chin. It spans most of the room, about four meters or six feet long, with eight chairs spread across. Three parallel to each other on either side, and one on each end. Above the center hangs a crystal chandelier.

On the other end sits Fukuzawa Yukichi, the president of Yokohama’s armed detective agency, quietly sipping tea. The once partners now sit on opposite sides of both the table and the law, though neither hold any resentment towards the other. 

The same can not be said for Chuuya and Dazai, the once and still feared duo of darkness. As time passes, it seems Chuuya’s resentment for Dazai only grows. Even now, he sits with his arms crossed and head turned like a defiant child. Meanwhile, Dazai sits across from his ex-partner with an almost strangely pleasant smile. No matter what Chuuya says, they both know Chuuya resents Dazai for leaving him all those years ago. Not that Chuuya would have left the mafia easily, if at all, but Dazai never even tried to talk to him. And that was what hurt the most.

Only one pair lacks resentment, not to say there's no malice between them. The final pair at the table, and the youngest, are Atsushi and Akutagawa. Unlike their two predecessors, they have no history of abandonment and betrayal. At least between each other. Their distrust is nothing more than a product of bad decisions and miscommunications. Nothing that can’t be dealt with over time.

They sit in relative silence, with the loudest sound being the occasional cough from Akutagawa. Both Mori and Fukuzawa have their eyes closed, it was almost as if they were asleep. 

Atsushi sat nervously between Mori and an empty chair, while Dazai sat on the other side of said chair and beside Fukuzawa. Akutagawa was leaning back in his chair glaring at Atsushi, which only served to put him more on edge.

“Nakajima-kun,” Mori said, breaking the silence.

“Yes!” Atsushi sat up as straight as possible, causing Dazai to snicker beside him.

A small smirk pulled at the corner of Mori’s mouth as he opened his eyes to look at the young man.

“Please relax, we aren’t going to hurt you. Isn’t that right Akutagawa?” 

“Hm,”Akutagawa gave a small hum of acknowledgement that did little to calm Atsushi’s nerves.

“So, shall we begin?” Fukuzawa asked, setting down his tea and looking up at Mori.

“I do believe we’ve let them suffer enough… for now.”

“Still as sadistic as ever Mori-sensei.”

“Why thank you.” He smiled. “Now, we called you all here today to discuss a mission of the utmost importance.”

“Is the city in danger again?” Atsushi asked.

Everyone was now sitting up right and looking at Mori.

“No, it is a much more pressing matter.” He paused for a second and looked up at Fukuzawa. “We have decided that the agency and port mafia need to… get to know each other, better. So we decided to kill two birds with one stone.”

“How?” Chuuya asked wearily. After being in the mafia for years, he knew Mori’s ideas could be… well sadistic.

“Mori-sensei and I decided to use this as an opportunity for Akutagawa and Atsushi to work on their teamwork.”

“What do you need us for then?” Dazai asked.

“As their predecessors, it seems only fitting you help them as necessary,” Fukuzawa said.

“Because you two helped us so much,” Dazai mumbled, rolling his eyes.

“That was different. No, I will not elaborate.”

“Of course you won’t.”

“Now,” Fukuzawa said, “we plan to hold the event this saturday-”

“SATURDAY!?”

“Yes, Kunikida-san has already been informed to clear his schedule. We all know what happens when you change his schedule last minute.”

“I suppose it’s an insurance of sorts…” Mori hummed. Fukuzawa scowled as he was cut off again.

“Mori-sensei has agreed to sort out whatever venue you decide on, and I do believe Fitzgerald-san and Alcot-san are willing to help with security and catering. Everything else is up to you four.”

“Do we really need security?” Atsushi asked, mostly to himself. 

Everyone at the table shrugged. The port mafia, agency, and possibly guild all in one place? You’d have to be stupid, or suicidal (or both) to attack.

“Now,” Mori clapped, “we’ll leave you to it! Fukuzawa-dono?” 

Both Mori and Fukuzawa took their leave.

Atsushi continued to shift awkwardly under Akutagawa’s glare as they waited for Dazai and Chuuya to come back with a computer and paper. 

Dazai had practically dragged Chuuya out as soon as the bosses left.

“They’ve been gone for awhile…”

“...”

“Think they’ll be back soon?”

“...”

“Are you going to talk to me at all?”

“...”

“Fine. Then I’ll talk and if you have a problem feel free to speak up,” Atsushi huffed before falling silent. “... Soooo, what kind of event would the port mafia like?”

“...”

“The agency would be okay with anything semi-formal… and we should probably do a buffet to keep Kenji fed… with lots of sweets too!” Atsushi had a soft smile on his face as he thought over things the agency would like. “Come to think of it, doesn’t Elise like sweets too?”

He looked up at Akutagawa for an answer. The man in question stayed silent, waiting for Atsushi to continue. However Atsushi continued to wait, dead set on getting Akutagawa to help.

“... So does Q.”

“Q? The one with the doll?” Akutagawa nodded. “Are they coming?”

“I’d assume, they’re still a part of the mafia. I believe a semi-formal event will work.”

Atsushi smiled.

“See, that wasn’t so hard.”

As they continued to discuss what to serve, music, and where to hold the event, they didn’t notice the door open slightly.

“And you thought they would kill each other,” Dazai whispered, still looking through the small crack in the door.

“Fuck off,” Chuuya growled. “Now, move out of the way you damn lamp post, I’m trying to see.”

“Ah, sorry! I forgot how short chibi is.”

“You bastard!” Chuuya yelled, kicking Dazai through the door.

Atsushi stopped talking and jumped into a defensive position at the sudden noise. Akutagawa, who was used to this to a degree, didn’t even flinch.

When Atushi realized it was Dazai who had come barreling through the door, he only sighed. He missed the slight smirk that formed on Akutagawa’s face.

“Are you sure we should have left them like that?” Fukuzawa asked.

Him, Mori, and Elise now sat together in a small cafe of Elise’s choosing.

“They’re in a building of trained killers, most of whom lived through the chaos of the teen soukoku years, they’ll be fine.”

Fukuzawa frowned. “I wasn’t worried about the other people in the building… Everyone in that room has tried to kill each other at least once.”

Mori raised an eyebrow. “Dazai-san tried to kill Nakajima-kun?”

“That wasn’t what I meant.”

“Of course,” Mori smiled, folding his hands under his chin. “Though we both know Dazai-san intends to turn those two into shin soukoku, and I believe Chuuya-san agrees with him on that. Even if it is rare, when they agree on something, it usually turns out okay.”

“Hmph.”

“Rintaro! You promised you wouldn’t bring work into the cafe!”

“Yes, of course Elise-chan,” he smiled, ruffling her hair. “What would you like, Fukuzawa-dono can go up and order.”

“Why am I being volunteered?”

Ignoring him, Elise began to make a small list.

“... And I want extra strawberry sauce on the cheesecake!”

“That’s quite the order, how about you start with a drink and a slice of cake?” Fukuzawa asked, a habit of trying to get Ranpo to limit his spending in restaurants.

Fukuzawa had no problem with Ranpo buying cheap convenience store sweets, or buying more expensive and higher quality ones in bulk. But buying expensive cakes in a cafe, that he could finish in two bites, was a waste.

“Hmph but I want all of it,” Elise pouted, crossing her arms and shrinking into the booth. He imagined she’d stomp her foot if she were standing.

“Then you can come back later and get something different, or order again once you finish the first one.”

Mori stayed quiet, watching the exchange between his ability and his ex-partner.

“Mmrg,” she groaned, really it was more a cross between a growl and a groan, before relenting. “Fine! I’ll just take the cheesecake and hot chocolate. But I want extra strawberry sauce and whipped cream!”

“Alright. Would you like anything?” Fukuzawa asked, looking at Mori.

“Just a coffee.”

“Alright then, I think that settles everything.” Dazai smiled, clapping his hands together.

They’d just finished writing out the plan for, what Akutagawa and Atsushi had decided would be, a semi-formal party for the Armed detectives and Port Mafia.

Atsushi had done most of the idea pitching, with Akutagawa telling him what was and wasn’t a good idea. Chuuya and Dazai had even left the room a few times without them noticing, much to both of their surprises. After all, Akutagawa normally watched Dazai like a hawk.

In the end, they’d decided on a semi-formal “party” of sorts. With a buffet type dining situation, with plenty of deserts obviously, on a boat. The boat had been an idea supplied by Chuuya who had said, “We’re less likely to start an all out war on a boat. No one wants to be the reason it sinks, and if they are, they won’t just have to answer to the other side.”

Without waiting for further dismissal, Akuatagawa went to leave.

“Hey? Where do you think you’re going?”Chuuya called, before he could make it out the door.

“Home.”

“You could at least pretend to not be running out of here,” Atsushi grumbled.

Soukoku stifled their laughter. No matter how well Atsushi and Akutagawa worked together, Akutagawa preferred to limit his time around his partner.

“Nope! This was just the warm up.”

“Warm up?” Atsushi asked, worry seeping into his bones.

“Of course! Everyone knows the only proper way to get to know someone is to go drinking.”

“Please,” Chuuya sighed, “you just want to see them make fools of themselves. Plus, they can’t drink at a bar, they aren’t 21.”

“But Chuuuyyaaa,” Dazai whined.

“No,” he said, not wavering in the slightest. Then, he turned back to the other two. “You two can leave, I’ll see you both Saturday.”

“No! Can we at least do karaoke?”

“Stop looking for blackmail material shit mackerel!”

As the two left, they could still hear their seniors yelling about karaoke, bars, and blackmail.

feel free not to answer this question, no worries if you can’t. but i thought id ask you because you have much more radical frameworks than reddit lol, i’m planning on seeking help with an ed that i have been and currently am engaging with, i’m actively engaging in unhealthy behaviors and i have no plans to stop honestly i just want to talk to someone as a step to getting closer to some form of recovery. how much can i honestly tell a licensed therapist (with ed experience) without being referred to an ed specialist or being institutionalized/put in different therapy/outpatient against my will? or basically how can i avoid anything happening besides like regular therapy sessions.. i don’t think i’m currently in any physical danger and i’m an adult, but i’m petrified of my parents (insurance providers) finding out about this and to have to go into like a specialized program would be awful for me. do you have any resources/advice/etc?

2 things:

1. you need to first determine what the laws are where you live. in some places it is possible to forcibly institutionalise an adult, sometimes with familial support and sometimes by clinician recommendation alone. you also want to check things like whether they can request a police 'wellness check' or whether they can put you on any type of temporary hold. any language in such laws about posing a danger to yourself basically means it's up to clinician judgment to decide what constitutes an actionable threat, so if you seek therapy in a jurisdiction with such laws, be careful and ask upfront in your very first session what the person's attitude is toward the use of such legal mechanisms. many clinicians still adhere to the guidance that harm reduction / non-recovery approaches to ED are only morally permissible in cases where a patient is over 30, has had AN for over a decade, and is medically stable. you may notice the first two criteria exclude many ED patients and the third involves clinician judgments. again you will want to ask upfront in your first session what any potential therapist thinks of treating an ED patient who is not prepared to seek full recovery right now. if a therapist is hesitant or weirded out by this, my advice is to dip.

2. regarding insurance and parents, this varies but where i live therapists have discretion when it comes to what they write on billing documents. for example it is fairly common practice to bill all insurance for "adjustment disorder" and then simply leave particularities between clinician and patient. what diagnosis your insurance company has on file simply depends on what your therapist writes down, so again, this would be something to ask about in your first session, keeping in mind this sort of paper protection only works so long as your therapist actually adheres to it. the other big caveat here is that your therapist's detailed notes on you are not legally protected in all cases. if things were to get legally ugly, for example if your parents found out about your ED and wanted to take medical charge of you in some way requiring court involvement, therapist notes absolutely could be discoverable and handed over. obviously i don't mean to scare you but you should be apprised of the situation.

again, check the laws in your jurisdiction, know what you're walking into, and keep in mind not all behaviours are equally likely to land you in hot water with a clinician (eg, many will respond more fearfully and forcefully to self-induced vomiting or laxative use, due to potential electrolyte issues, than they will to general self-starvation). best of luck to you <3

I may be in trouble

I’ve not been saying much, because that’s generally not my way (if I can help it). There’s been mention on my discord, and the people there have been incredibly supportive. But I’ve not said much here.

Today I can’t even knit socks. Not because I’ve forgotten how, or because it takes too much brain power, or my hands aren’t working or anything like that. It’s because there’s something very wrong. We don’t know what it is yet.

Pinning it down is going to be difficult at best. It’s completely inconsistent, so being able to get a diagnosis will be... something less than straightforward. We think it started when I was put on one medication and taken off of another a week later. (The doctor who removed the medication never bothered to ask why I was on it, whether the numbers in the blood test should be slightly high for a reason, etc. He just decided I didn’t need it anymore. He’s also not going to be getting any more referrals from my primary care doctor’s office anymore.) The effects of the added medication were not exactly welcome, but expected, and I had started evening out. Then the other was removed and the world went sideways.

They put me back on the one that was removed, and took away the new one. But that’s been two weeks ago and there has been no significant improvement. There are appointments with various specialists scheduled for the next month and a half to see if anybody can figure out what happened. I’ve been put on medical leave from work until the end of August - and thank goodness for short term disability insurance, but they’re not paying 100% pay rate for that full time.

I’m sleeping between 12-14 hours a day, and am still exhausted. A train of thought will board at the station, and I can hold a brief conversation, but somewhere something just breaks down. Out of nowhere the thought just disappears - sometimes mid-sentence. Or partway through a word. It’s just gone. I’m unable to do much of anything today because of dizziness and mental fatigue. I can’t even go lay down and take a nap because I was able to strip the bed to wash the sheets (for the first time in over a month) this morning, but physically can’t put other sheets on again.

Why am I telling you this?

Well... Because I miss streaming. I miss sharing crafts, and playing video games, and just hanging out. Even if only one or two people would show up to watch, it helped me feel less alone. That’s a difficult thing to face when necessity means you can’t see many people.

Because I had planned to try to stream today, even if it was for an hour. Maybe two. Since it’s nearly impossible to keep focus and keep up enough energy to do anything for much longer than that. Even without the energy output of streaming, the most I’ve been able to stay awake at a stretch for weeks is about a 6 hour stretch.

Because I want everybody to know I’m still here, and still fighting, even though it’s hard.

So. There we are. I’m doing what little I can. Part of that is trying to figure out pricing for quilted coaster sets, since that’s something I can work on (almost brainless) for a couple of hours at a time on most days. And with the summer months here, and the US turning into a red, white, and blue smear... there are some sets in that color scheme which will be going up for sale as soon as that pricing gets figured out. (Then Halloween ones, and Christmas ones, then probably more Halloween/goth ones because that’s my jam.) Part of that is trying to use what little brain power exists to deal with insurance companies. And part of that is watching terrible youtube videos and staring off into space. It’s a rough thing to do, but somebody’s got to.

@@ I had to walk to the ATT store to close my mom’s cell phone account. Easy to close but I still have to pay the outstanding bill this week, they couldn’t do it there. Blah blah, it’s all such a hassle and makes me motivated to have all of this very well organized for my family when I go. The only thing left is my dads T-mobile account (because of course they had to use separate carriers instead of a family plan) and my mom’s Netflix.

@@@ On the way there, I got a little lost, looked up and saw this 111. Thank you. Ok. It’s all fine.

@@@@ We heard from the original buyer - they said “we are so close, but we don’t feel comfortable removing the finance contingency just yet, please give us time, we gave you the 25k of earnest money in good faith.” Good faith? It would go to us anyway and you refused to cover any of our carrying expenses! I am done. I aligned with my siblings that our realtor does not respond to any more of their emails or calls - sign the notice to perform by Wednesday 9:01 PM or we are done. I pray they don’t. we also decided to give all of their earnest money back, we don’t have to but it’s just cleaner that way and we don’t have to worry about them coming back to us for it in court.

@@@@@ I was able to sell some stuff on the terrace today that I don’t use, a white couch and ottoman that gets too dirty. She was so nice, her little girls waited in the car with her partner - when she saw I had cars she said “oh my girls will be so sad they missed the cats, I’m allergic so we can’t have them and they are obsessed.” she took a picture of Minnie and then asked if I’d send a few more, so I loaded them up! They sent the cutest little thank you video back. People are so nice sometimes. She had Lugg come and pick it all up, and I gave the movers seltzers and a giant cookie for the road.

@@@@@@ I spent the evening organizing files, old letters and photos. I want to text some of them to people in my mom’s life. Flipped GBBO on (some seasons I’m more invested in than others) and finished the obits. Now it’s just the utilities transfers, canceling their insurance on the house when it closes, publishing the obituaries and sending out a few things to my mom’s friends I think they’d appreciate.

@@@@@@@ Elizabeth, the design helper is coming with her friend this week to take an old bed I brought with me for the guest bedroom, the box spring and nightstand to donate. It’s all 20 years old and held up well but it’s time for a new bed in there. I also went through all of my books to donate what I don’t want anymore. She’s also taking the planters on the terrace, I’d rather have a proper table out there where I can have people for dinner, nothing grew this year anyway. I’ll use pots instead. I’m relieved someone is helping me with all of this, it’s a cool place and with my tendency to clutter, it’s not great. So this is good.

Relationship Based:

Fake/Arranged Relationship

- Eliot and Hardison are dating, but the fact that Hardison’s friend Parker doesn’t technically exist has just become a problem and for whatever reason, the only solution is to legitimize her existence through marriage. - Couples Cruise: Hardison has been hired to gather information on a particular person/people, but the target is going to be on a couples cruise for the next month or two. The cruise has suspiciously good security protocols in place, so he can’t pose as a staff member and needs a hardline into the ship electronic systems. Parker is an occasional colleague who he asks for help, Eliot is on the ship working as a chef (either to gather intel for Moreau or as a legitimate job), Sophie is a “marriage counselor” working on the cruise, and Nate is there for IYS. - For Good Publicity: Parker is a former Olympic gymnast who now makes money by selling various merchandise she designs, doing visual/performing arts, advertising contracts, etc., Eliot is a Country singer/musician. Their managers suggest that they pretend to date to normalize Parker’s image/brand and soften Eliot’s (she’s a little too weird and he’s been getting in fist fights). Parker agrees because Sophie usually has good ideas, Eliot doesn’t agree but Nate makes it happen anyway. Breanna, Parker’s social media manager (a teenager she met doing graffiti who volunteered to help and didn’t expect to get paid for it), isn’t thrilled about the arrangement, because she’d been planning on setting Parker up with her older foster brother, Hardison. Since Parker agrees to Sophie’s plan, Breanna plans out a timeline of how to use both the relationship and the breakup to improve Parker’s image in the shortest period possible. After the break-up, Parker does actually start going out with Hardison, but then one day Eliot shows up on her doorstep (or third story balcony) having realized that he loves her. Ultimately OT3 happens. - Instead of training her as a thief, Archie brought Parker home and tried to raise her as a normal person anyway. Parker pursued a life of crime anyway, but now she has Archie and Marylin bothering her about finding a significant other and adopting them some more grand-babies. She convinces one or both of her crime buddies (Hardison and Eliot) to be a pretend boyfriend.

Occupation Based:

Artist AU: Hardison is a famous artist who agrees to do an exhibition/auction fundraiser for charity. Nate is there for insurance investigator reasons, Sophie is there grifting someone, Parker is casing the building for a future heist, and Eliot is trying to blend and avoid the guys chasing him. Eliot happens to have a concussion and is just standing around staring blankly at a particular painting. Parker is observing that same painting, which happens to be displayed near a skylight, and considering an on-the-spot heist. Hardison mistakes the intense staring for people being really into his art and goes to chat them up.

Assassin AU

- Parker is an assassin and Hardison is using the target’s credit card. - Eliot is an assassin and Hardison is using the target’s credit card. - Eliot and Parker are both hired to kill the same troublesome hacker. - Moreau sends Eliot to take out an accomplished international thief who refuses to become an asset (and is therefore a liability), Parker is bored of stealing and she accepts a contract hit on Damien Moreau’s boy-toy. - Eliot has just gone freelance after leaving Moreau and gets hired to take out a hacker, but when he’s doing reconnaissance on the guy, he sees Hardison petting puppies, helping old ladies with their groceries, and trying to explain Monopoly (or another board-game) to his girlfriend who doesn’t understand why robbing the bank is cheating. It turns into a conversation about the U.S. economy and capitalism and Parker has some good points and really Eliot can’t just kill these idiots without explaining the value of having a monopoly on railroads to them. - Eliot finds a convenient apartment to use as a sniper’s nest while the occupant is out of town. The apartment belongs to one of Hardison’s cover identities and he comes back into the country under a different identity and goes to visit Nana in another city. Parker isn’t ready to meet Nana, so she decides to break into Hardison’s apartment and hang out there until he gets back.

Independent Business AU

- Coffeeshop/Bakery/Cat-Cafe AU: Eliot buys out the retiring owners of an independent cafe/coffeeshop/bakery where Hardison regularly brings his laptop (having upgraded the wifi as a favor to the former owners) so he can truthfully tell Nana he’s getting out of the apartment daily. In return for custom pastries, drinks, and sandwiches, Hardison helps with the business logistics and finances; he also sets up an electronic ordering system. Parker has seen Eliot giving day-old pastries to homeless vets and shelters and decides that his cafe would be a good home for her collection of stray cats; she only has three to start with, but after breaking in and leaving those three in the middle of the night with a note to take care of them or else, she brings more stray cats (or other animals, possibly a disabled raccoon) when she finds them. - Restaurant (Chef/Waiter) AU: Eliot is the chef, Nate does the finances, Sophie is the hostess/manager, Hardison owns the restaurant, Parker picks up shifts as a waitress, bartender, line-cook, and hostess in between heists.

Prostitution/Brothel AU

- Eliot is tired of killing people and starts working at a brothel, mostly he does security stuff and keeps clients from ignoring limits and safewords, but occasionally he takes clients who make certain requests. Hardison goes to the brothel to update their electronic security system and ends up fucking Eliot instead of getting paid. Parker is gray-ace and doesn’t know it, so she comes to the brothel to ask questions and figure out why everyone likes sex so much. Sophie is the Madam (and possibly runs a high class escort service as well). Nate is an investigator of some sort who tried to shut down Sophie’s businesses for years before giving up (falling in love with her) and starting to bring her “good kids who’ve made bad choices” to rehabilitate. [Alternately Nate took over his father’s criminal operations, turned them into a small empire and despite Sophie operating in his (newly-conquered) territory, he agrees to trading favors instead of trying to make her pay protection] - Hardison is an author who gets most of his ideas from watching security footage illegally (maybe he’s got undiagnosed agoraphobia or he just doesn’t believe in privacy or both). One day he happens to be watching the live feed from a fancy hotel bar where Moreau is conducting business. Something (Eliot) keeps Hardison coming back and eventually tracking Moreau and compiling evidence of illegal dealings. Fairly early on, Hardison notices that Moreau prostitutes Eliot to favored business partners, but despite growing concern for Eliot’s consent and well-being, Hardison can’t do anything about it from the safety of his apartment. Nate (agent, editor, or publisher) shows up to nag Hardison about an upcoming deadline (which he totally forgot about), leading Hardison to hire Parker for leg work (and general crime) because he won’t be able to focus on writing until Eliot is safe. He also has Nate put him in touch with Sophie so he can get his amassed intelligence into the right hands without implicating himself. Meanwhile, Eliot knows he’s being watched, but is starting to hate himself enough that he really doesn’t care about anything. Once Moreau is arrested (any evidence of Eliot’s involvement having mysteriously disappeared), Eliot decides to track down the person/people who saved him.

Carnival/Circus AU: Parker is a performer and pickpocket, Eliot is involved in the drug-running and human-trafficking for which the carnival/circus is a cover, Hardison just wants to take his foster siblings for a fun day out. Nate is the rogue FBI investigator trying to bring down the take down the trafficking ring (which his bosses have dismissed for lack of evidence). Sophie is a criminal (not that Nate can prove she’s anything other than an actress/theatre director) that Nate asks for help with the case.

College/University/Student AU

- “it’s 3 am and I’m still in the library studying for finals and I’m losing my grip on reality and I think I just saw a ghost” AU: Hardison has been ‘studying’ for 28 hours without a break, Eliot is trying to prepare for a math final of some sort that he’s pretty sure he’ll fail regardless and Parker is the ghost. - “My computer crashed and you’re the student worker at the IT center” AU: Eliot got angry at his computer and punched it, Hardison makes extra cash fixing computers, phones, and the occasional mass spectrometer or gas chromatograph that a grad student needs reprogrammed off the books. - “I couldn’t help but notice you’re watching [security footage] instead of studying in the computer lab” AU: Parker is doing surveillance, Hardison is trying to study. - “you live above me and I’m going to murder you if you don’t stop throwing parties Sunday night” AU: Eliot is getting really tired of Hardison’s parties and how can a bunch of geeks playing boardgames make so much goddamn noise?

Hospital AU

- Parker is an ER doctor, Hardison is the hospital IT guy assigned to the ER, and Eliot is in an abusive relationship or participates in underground MMA or both. - Parker is an ER doctor/nurse, Eliot is one of the night security guards for the ER, Hardison is very accident-prone/clumsy.

Emergency Services (9-1-1) AU: Eliot is a firefighter, Parker is a paramedic, and Hardison a 9-1-1 dispatcher.

Lawyer AU: Eliot is on trial for a crime he absolutely did commit because the person who hired him gave him up in return for a lighter sentence on other crimes. Hardison shows up pretending to be a lawyer, and ‘proves’ Eliot innocent. At the end of the trial, Hardison takes Eliot out to dinner (Eliot is just confused and going along with it because he thinks it all might be a drug-induced hallucination or coma dream) with Sophie, Nate, and Parker. They’re all chatting happily until Eliot interrupts with something like “you know, I did kill that guy, I’m not really innocent,” and Hardison replies with “and I’m not really a lawyer, so what?”

Delivery Service AU: Parker works as a freelance courier and picks up shifts for various delivery services off-the-books, both of which give her the opportunity to case targets and find things worth stealing. Nate, Sophie, Hardison, and Eliot are all customers at one point or another. Eliot is usually a sender where as Hardison is usually a recipient.

Veterinarian (sort-of) AU: Eliot is a black-market medic of sorts, using a veterinary cover story to advertise his services on the dark web. Hardison thinks he’s contacting an actual vet who does house calls, but he’s so flustered by Megabyte’s injury/illness that he mixes up his browsers or doesn’t realize he’s searching the dark web instead of the regular internet. Eliot doesn’t like his new client’s attitude towards their subordinates (taking the dog metaphor too far) but he needs the money, so he shows up prepared for a high level lieutenant in organized crime or something only to be met by an anxious ‘computer engineer’ and an actual dog. Still, Eliot manages to fix up Meg and get Hardison to calm down, at which point Hardison realizes his mistake. They part ways agreeing to forget each others’ names and faces, but Hardison ends up keeping track of Eliot and later on calls him again when Parker gets hurt on a job and zip-lines through his window bleeding.

Blogger AU: Hardison is a social media entity with accounts on most major social networks, but his primary thing is a blog where he does honest reviews of just about anything (restaurants, movies, Met Gala fashion choices, video-games products and services, etc.), talks about cute animals he sees, shares what he learns when he goes down a wikipedia/research rabbit hole and writes non-identifying things about his personal life. As such, his crushes on both Parker and Eliot are talked about, and his readers are privy to his struggle to choose one over the other. Eventually one or both of them finds the blog and after they have a fight, Hardison talks about things on the blog, not realizing Eliot and Parker are reading it and know what it’s about. This causes problems because Hardison writes things about Eliot’s toxic masculinity that he would never say to his face, and express a desire for normal relationship milestones that Parker could never give him.

Other:

Survival/Apocalypse/Dystopia AU

- Population/Fertility Crisis: Dealer’s choice how it happens (perhaps by infecting the wheat supply – see Wakefield Agriculture and Dr. Ann Hannity), but most of the world ends up infertile. Ten years down the line, the world is still overpopulated, but there are almost no kids being born so some powerful entity (governments/corporations/etc.) enforces genetic testing, picks out the people most likely to still be fertile, and abducts them. Hardison and Parker are two of the fertile individuals, Damien Moreau controls the program, Eliot is Moreau’s severely abused right hand and is put in charge of monitoring the subjects and delivering security assessments. Eliot falls in love with Hardison and Parker from a far and as Moreau’s abuse worsens he thinks about helping them escape even if it kills him. Eventually Eliot is approached by Nate and Sophie, who are working with a resistance movement, and agrees to help them free the abducted fertile individuals and ultimately take down Moreau and the entity in charge. Meanwhile, Parker and Hardison have been using their respective skills to get information about their captors and the project, and plan an escape. Because Hardison has been in the computers and Parker has been in the vents, they know Moreau is hurting Eliot, so they decide he’s the best option for someone to turn. Harry is a lawyer who initially helps make the program look legal but then has a moral awakening and becomes a spy for the resistance. Breanna does social organizing and spy tech for the resistance and her relationship with Sophie is the reason that Nate and Sophie know about Hardison’s computer skills and choose to start by rescuing him. Archie lends his skills to the resistance (or just Sophie and Nate) in return for their promise to rescue Parker.

Castaway AU: Eliot steals a helicopter to escape an employer who’s trying to clean up all evidence of their crimes, but he’s got a concussion and it’s been a while since he last flew a helicopter so he crashes. Hardison is hired anonymously to find the wreck and since his employer is cagey about the ‘why,’ Hardison in turn hires Parker to check out the wreck before giving the GPS coordinates to his employer. Parker finds Eliot along with the wreck and he explains the situation. Hardison gets both of them back to civilization and they take down the guy who was trying to kill Eliot.

Neighbor AU: Eliot is hiding after getting away from Moreau, Hardison is just doing his hacking thing, and Alice White rents the apartment in between theirs because Archie told her to back up the identity better. Sophie is Parker’s crime friend, Nate lives one floor down from Parker, Hardison, and Eliot, and is working in a children’s hospital, helping the doctors and parents get insurance to cover treatment. Sophie visits Parker and happens to run into Nate who she met while he was still working for IYS.

One question asks if the members would be upset, or not upset, if after getting in an accident a friend’s first comment on the phone is to ask about insurance. 

Originally, Tae selects B, that he would not be upset, while Jk chooses A, that he would be upset.

In a bonus clip, the members debate the perilla leaf controversy.

Tae pauses the discussion to suggest they take turns answering, and then asks Jungkook to go first. It could be argued he kickstarts the debate with Jk since he’s the first chair, but I personally think it could be Tae wanting Jk’s answer. You decide. Jk is firm that the friend can’t help.

Tae also makes it clear he’d have a light fight, explaining his reasoning behind it -

When Tae mentions the light fight, all members laugh or react in amusement besides Jk, who keeps his head down, focused on what he’s doing.

Jimin even asks Jk why he is pouting, which he denies with a “no” -

Yoongi asks if it’s ok if they scoop noodles from the pot. Jk reiterates that’s fine, the perilla leaf isn’t. He elaborates further, dramatically saying the next step is hand holding. Jk repeats after Tae and then says they will get married. Jin is bewildered.

Tae then brings up the peeling shrimp controversy to compare it to the perilla leaf debate, and his stance, giving a scenario to Yoongi in which the two of them go out with Yoongi’s significant other, and the significant other’s chopsticks touch Tae’s.

Ugh why does my dad have to be Like This

He’s always been into the idea of fostering independence in his kids. And there are a lot of aspects of that I totally agree with and plan to replicate with my own kids, like giving kids allowance with which they have to pay for non-necessities so they learn how to manage money, making sure they learn how to do household chores, etc.

But then he takes it to this ridiculous, illogical extremes. When I got my first job post-college, which didn’t offer health insurance until after the 1st year of employment and at that point offered really crappy insurance, he immediately decided that I would be kicked off my parents’ health insurance as soon as I became eligible for the work insurance despite the fact that I would only be 24 by that point, could have remained on my health insurance my mom’s work provided for another 2 years, and it cost them literally nothing extra for me to do so because they had a family plan that didn’t cost per person. And this knowing that I had a chronic health problem that would require regular care.

I’m currently on my parents’ cell plan, but I send a monthly payment to my dad for the full amount that I’m responsible. So it costs them, again, nothing, but saves me a ton of money vs. having a single-person phone plan (my husband is on his parents’ plan and they still pay for it - about which we’re not complaining). A bit over a year ago my job started reimbursing me for my phone, and when my dad found out, he immediately decided it was time for me to get my own plan since anyway I didn’t have to pay for it. Before I had a chance to get that sorted out, I found out I was getting laid off and the conversation was dropped. My current job does not reimburse my phone bill.

I realized suddenly today that I’ve had my current phone for a while and I’d probably finished paying it off. The monthly payment to my dad had included both my portion of the plan, and my monthly phone payment. I was able to see on my account that the phone was paid off, but since I’m not the account owner, I couldn’t see when it was paid off or how much my monthly phone payment had been. So I contacted my dad and asked him to tell me the amount for just the plan so I could adjust the amount going forward, as well as if he could look into how long I’d been overpaying him.

Turns out I’ve overpaid him about $350 over the past year. Which he promptly sent back to me. But now, of course, he’s decided it’s long past time I get my own plan, despite the fact that allowing me to remain on theirs costs them nothing, moving to my own plan will likely more than double my monthly bill, and I’m supporting soon-to-be-4 people and putting someone through grad school on a single nonprofit income because my husband can’t work for at least the next 2 years until he finishes school. He’s also decided to kick my sister off, which came totally out of the blue for her since he’d never threatened to kick her off when this conversation started last year (so at least he’s being fair this time, though I can’t say it will impact her nearly as much given she has over 150% the income to support soon-to-be-25% the people and 0 grad students).

Old job: face to face interaction with strangers who treat you like trash even though we all work for the same company. Also my desk parasite, the new employee who my boss refused to put to work so she just sat next to me for like.. 3 months? 4 months? Idk. She was annoying. Also she put in her 2 weeks notice when I quit but idk if she actually left. Lol.

New job: very calm and chill, for now*. The trade off is that I’m stuck with a bunch of grumpy old people who are scared of technology. Also the job is 100% doable from home but because Old People I have to come in. What should be 8:30 AM-5 PM is now 5 AM-6 PM. And just to make it sting even more. I’m always done with work by 2-3 PM. It’s a huge waste of time. The disappearing lady is a real mystery tho. When I first started here she was normal, nice, worked a normal schedule. Then she became nasty, which is her real personality because she was only nice when I first started. Then she started working for 12+ hours a day for absolutely no reason, which stressed her out, causing her to become even worse. I really REALLY need to reinforce that there was no reason for her to do that. We do NOT have that much work here. There’s not even enough work to fill a regular schedule. She spent most of the day watching tv at her desk. But still decided to be there all day long. Yeah. I don’t get it either. Now she’s back to her normal schedule but just.. walks out. She’s there in the morning and leaves around 9:30. Comes back to eat lunch. Then leaves for another few hours. Then comes back to get her stuff and leaves for the day. My boss is aware that she’s doing this cause my boss specifically requested I answer the phone when she’s not there :|

Anyway. The lady is so goddamn annoying that I’m glad when she’s gone but the problem is that the only other person who can answer the phones is out for the week. So. That means I’m all alone. Getting yelled at on the phone because I can’t actually give people the patient’s results that they’re asking for 😀

*My boss informed me that she Has Plans™️ for me and going by her description, the job will stop being chill. Because she wants me to be her little messenger between over a dozen doctors, wants me to send constant updates to every office about insurance changes, IT for when shit doesn’t work (tbh she already makes me do this part), and cover for whoever is out :|.. that was not in the job description. No increase in pay either, of course. The only reason it hasn’t happened yet is because she is waiting for the program they use to be upgraded which is happening sometime in 2023. Once the system is upgraded, then I will be doing all that.

🛒 What are some common things you incorporate in your fics? Themes, feels, scenes, imagery, etc. Well, might as well pick a theme for your ask here, and go with: the dilf!dan cinematic universe. I guess there are lots of reasons for it, the first being that there is a real, evolutionary phenomenon that makes the image of a beautiful man being good with a baby irresistible. And, of course, there’s the heartbreaking precedence of canon, that opened this can of worms of Beautiful Man That’s Good With a Baby and slammed it shut quickly after, thereby forever leaving my imagination dissatisfied. And too, with GG specifically, parenthood and how children are shaped by their parents/haunted by the ghosts of their parents’ past and visions of their parents’ futures, and how there is really only one (1) good father in the dramatis personae and he’s only good to like, half his children, the narrative potential of a main character like Dan stepping out of the GG cycle of parenting and building a life and a family that defies it is sooooooo….delicious. The Milo plot specifically, in a show that emphasizes bloodlines and genetics and biological links, breaking that down to say, Dan is not the bio-father, but that doesn’t matter because the love and the connection is real—a marked contrast from say, bart and wvdw, who use their bio-dad cards as get-out-of-jail free ones all the time. Just…everything this theme says about family and parenthood being earned. And choosing to be there. And choosing to stay. 

⛔ Do you have a fic you started, but scrapped? Oh, sure. I am kind of a — stickler, I guess? That if I start something I want to have finished it, so I am trying to be better at forgiving myself for the fics I don’t write. That being said, there is one. So I started a fic a couple months ago that was a story based off of these headcanons (dilf!dan AND dilf!nate cinematic universe!) but then a few things happened: I went on vacation so writing wasn’t really a thing that was happening because my big brother and I were having too much fun, then I contracted COVID whilst on vacation so when I got home I was too sick to anything but watch Netflix and drink water and lay around moaning, and then, I was beginning to emerge from the brain fog, the supreme court (fuck em!), and it was like…so the whole thing that the fic revolves around is adoption — which is great! It’s a great practice don’t get me wrong — and I just…didn’t have it in me to write an adoption-at-birth plot after that particular devastating political event. I still like the idea, so I guess I haven’t scrapped it completely, but it’ll probably be a while if I ever circle back to it. 

👀 Tell me about an up and coming wip please! Ohhhhhh you are just trying to get me to talk about it publicly, I see you, S! But that’s fine, because I’ve been dying for an excuse. 

Okay so the recent discourse in my ask box — spurred by Sena’s posts (ty sena I owe you my life tbh), and then prompted by you, actually, S (wow, this is so your fault <3) — was about Blair’s pregnancy arc on the show and the Grimaldis shitty behavior and I mentioned an abandoned LJ fic where to get away from Chuck and out of her engagement and free of the Grimaldis forever, Blair enlists Dan to help lie for her and say that the child she’s carrying is actually Dan’s. Ever since I read it and then was heartbroken to find it unfinished, I’ve wondered how that story was gonna go, and now I can’t stop thinking about it…so here we are. 

I haven’t had much of a chance to make an outline and a plan, but generally what I am thinking now is starting in the weeds of 5x10 — the epicenter of everything that spurs the story for the rest of the season, honestly — and following through until the time that s5 ends (with a much happier ending for my faves, of course). Blair decides she wants out of the royal pipeline, and that she needs insurance/insulation from Chuck, and Dan is so stupid in love with her he’ll go along with any idiotic plot. Also like, as we’ve all joked, Dan WILL raise your baby no questions asked. 

But it’s just…it’s gonna be a bear of thing to pull off. It will definitely end up longer than I mean it to be (hello, it me), and to do it I know I’m gonna have to deal with the Dair + Serena of it all, plus save Nate from the Spectator (#notmynate), get chip whiskers out of the fuckin way, acknowledge the train wreck of Ivy/Charlie/Lola, not to mention all the things about her pregnancy & motherhood that Blair avoids grappling with until she’s suddenly Not Pregnant. PLUS Dan’s choice being all tied up in the Milo Debacle and his novel and his love of Blair. Which is all gonna be hard. 

But! The potential for the ROMANCE. Dilf!dan. Dair roommates. Dair doing three men and a baby except that it’s two-best-friends-who-are-in-love-but-don’t-know-how-to-handle-it and a baby.

🤲 Would you please share a snippet of a wip? Well, I’ve barely written much prose on the aforementioned wip, it’s just been basic outlining, stream of consciousness notes, and pitching scenes in your dms, but I’ll share a tidbit of the tiny bit I’ve written so far in my bullet points…

Rounded and big and unwieldy, she knows she’s well-past the benchmark of desirable now, but Dan holds her like she isn’t, touches her like she’s worth wanting, and kisses her until she wants to believe it.

✅ What’s something that appears in your fics over and over and over again, even if you don’t mean to? musical!Humphreys my beloved! Sometimes it is very much intentional and is the basis of the plot (see: orchestra au & date valentine oneshot), but sometimes it just creeps in. Like I said, my writing is very based in music, and even though my parents are amateur musicians, I related a lot to the Humphreys right off the dat because music seems such an integral part of the culture of their family, if that makes sense? And my brother and I growing up the way we did, with all the music literacy and piano lessons (later guitar for him) and everything that came with that, I cannot really imagine Dan and Jenny not being skilled musicians, even though they’ve chosen a different genre of art as their career path. It’s one of their character pillars, a piece of their personality that’s shaped them, so musicians!Humphreys always comes into play in a story whether it’s intentional or not

((Mozenrath is my only fully passing, fully closeted trans muse. And i have a few specific reasons for that. I’m a trans man, and as such, i’ve written several characters as trans (including NB and intersex) over the years, including Adrian Tepes, Damian Bloodmarch, Lucemon, Sephiroth, Abbacchio, Virgil, and several OCs both from games (Monster Hunter, FFXIV) and original universes. But in all of those, none of them have ever been both fully passing AND in the closet at the same time. And my reasoning is based entirely on my own experience as a trans person, and being really, really fucking sick of “outing” stories. In this essay, i will...))

So, several friends and acquaintances over the years have asked me to be a sensitivity reader for their stories involving trans people. And something i see again and again is people writing trans characters as having to “hide” the fact that they are trans. This really, really gets under my skin, and not just because it’s cliché and boring.

Something cis people don’t seem to realize is that we don’t just decide to become trans one day, and suddenly pass perfectly. There is no such thing as a “sex change operation.” If someone decides to transition physically-- which not everyone does-- it is a process that takes years and lasts your entire life. Clothing is changed, hormones are taken, several surgeries and planned-- and this is all AFTER at least one year of therapy and living as the opposite gender to “make sure you’re ready.” And even with good doctors, insurance doesn’t like to pay for these things. Many trans people who want to transition are not able to, be it for financial or health reasons. And many people only partially physically transition for varying reasons. I, myself, will always have a vagina, because i do not feel bottom surgery is necessary for my personal affirmation, and i don’t wish to risk the small chance of losing sexual sensation. Transitioning to looking, conventionally, like the gender you identify as is a slow and often taxing process. And you cannot isolate yourself for the entirety of it.

People WILL witness the changes in you. And if you ask people during your transition to respect your pronouns, they WILL put two and two together. i am part way through my transition. i am not passing. At work, or in social situations with people i see regularly, i have to ask to be called he and sir. i still look like a “girl.” It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out what i am.

And then there’s the people who knew you before you came out.

Usually, when you realize you’re trans, it takes time to come out. You will have grown up and been raised as one gender your whole life. Your biological family, friends, coworkers, classmates, neighbors, and so many others will know you as that gender. And very few people get the grace of leaving everything behind and starting a new life somewhere. Not everyone even wants that. Some people have good community support. Some people can’t afford to leave. Whatever the reason, there will be people who knew, and there will be some of those who will talk about it. Sometimes, even the trans person will talk about it, if they don’t feel the need to hide the fact that they are trans for safety or comfort.

All of this is to say, many trans people are not passing, be it physically or socially. “Passing” is a rare treat, and not all trans people even want it. More often, what being closeted as a trans person involves is tolerating being called the wrong pronouns, so that you don’t have to put up with the consequences of asking. “Passing,” for many, means being continuously misgendered. Trans people cannot hide themselves nearly as easily as other queer folks. Our existence is loud, often uncomfortably so, whether we want that or not.

Most of my trans characters are out, be it by choice or circumstance. My Monster Hunter OC is known to be trans to the entire Guild because he was pre-transition when he arrived, and does not fully pass due to limited medical treatment. Morn’star, my FXIV character, is out both to make Ishgardian nobility uncomfortable, and because he didn’t start to physically change until later in his story. Adrian is out because the only people he’s around frequently are the people he trusts. Damien is out because his community has known him for years. Lucien is intersex and proud. Sephiroth is intersex and doesn’t care. I don’t play many pre-transition closeted characters because i lived like that long enough myself; i don’t wanna be misgendered in RP, too. But some people like to touch on that part of a character’s story. And that’s also completely valid.

Mozenrath is slightly different. Moze is, somehow, the perfect storm of circumstances that lead him to this very rare position that you usually see portrayed in media: no one that knew him as a “girl” is still alive or around, he’s been grooming himself in certain ways and wearing certain clothing for so long that he’s learned to make himself look like just a very young man, and he has every intention of keeping his identity a secret.

His mother sold him off. She likely wouldn’t know him if she saw him. Destane didn’t care. And he’s dead. Mozenrath was either a street rat or a slave to everyone else. Very few people would recognize him as he is now-- stolen nobility. And of those who would’ve recognized him... well, he made sure to do away with them. His facial structure and underweight frame means he doesn’t have many prominent secondary sexual characteristics. His clothing covers his proportions. As far as everyone alive knows-- except for Xerxes-- he is a cisgender man. And he has every reason to want to stay closeted. He is in a time period and place where, if anyone knew his status, it could easily spell his annihilation. And he’s got enough reasons for people to want to kill him. And, brushing that aside, considering how well fortified he is, it would also mean everyone around him-- or most of them-- would begin referring to him as “lady” rather than “lord.” He doesn’t want to hear this.

i’m sharing this mostly because i just like talking about queer theory and my trans character headcanons, but also because i want people to think about this sort of thing when they’re writing trans characters. i might do a “reveal” plot one day with Mozenrath, but it’s not gonna be anything like it is in the movies, because i actually understand how this kind of thing goes. If someone is passing and closeted, them being discovered is rarely a matter of inconvenience-- it’s rarely to be taken with as little weight as things like, “My boyfriend left me.” For many, it can be life-ending, because some people who are both perfectly passing and entire closeted are so out of fear. Not everyone, obviously. Some people just like their privacy. But for many, it can mean being openly threatened, or treated with disrespect on the daily.

And for those with the choice to avoid that-- for those who are passing and not connected to anyone who knew them before-- it should be obvious why they’d remain secretive.
