🌙 * ☾ ❛ johnny && kayleen / ( everything has changed. )

johnny’s son LYRIC SPIRIT had been sitting all alone as in daycare, fiddling impatiently with the sleeve of his grey shirt. tears filling his eyes, he feels so lonely without his mother being there for him anymore. he misses the sound of her BEAUTIFUL voice and the way she used to sing to him. the laughter and joy the three of them all shared as a family. now, his mother ( operetta destler spirit ) was gone. she had died from her autoimmune disease, it had taken over her entire life and eventually, took her own life. she hadn’t been around in almost two years. johnny and lyric both missed her like HELL, and everyone around them knew it.

people constantly whispered about johnny’s REPUTATION and how he would be a BAD FATHER figure for her son. but, some of the monsters in their town thought that johnny was surprisingly a very good father. no one had ever expected him to be, but he was. he loved his son with all of his heart. distracting himself from his thoughts, the five-year-old phantom/ghost hybrid is exhilarated to see his father waiting for him at daycare. even though his heart still hurts, he already feels so much better. lyric knows that he always has his daddy to go home to. giggling, he runs to him in PURE EXCITEMENT. he stands up on his tippy toes to try and hug his father. “ DADDY! thank goodness you’re here... i missed ya!! “ the older ghost chuckles down at lyric as he rambles, holding him close to his chest and kissing the top of his head. as he starts floating over towards the exit, he floats by a very FAMILIAR face that he hasn’t seen since his wedding. shocked, he pauses for a moment as his eyes scan over the figure in front of him. before he can speak, his son interjects. peering his LAVENDER BLUE eyes towards the werewolf, he gave her a wave. he knew he wasn’t supposed to talk to strangers, but this looked like one of johnny’s friends. that meant he could trust her! or at least, that’s what the young boy thought. “ do i know ya? ya kinda look like one of my mommy’s friends. when my mommy used to be here, um, when she was young she skated with ya! mommy says she was AMAZING! “ lyric exclaimed as he spoke in a slight southern accent, referring to clawdeen. sighing, johnny gently pats his son’s shoulder, signaling to him that he needs to talk to the woman. if he didn’t do that, lyric wouldn’t be able to quit talking.

“ KAYLEEN WOLF? ... is that really you? what have YOU been up to? looks like you’ve been kept quite busy lately, “ he laughed, referring to her children.

typed this up before I actually made the blog, so some stuff is a little old (e.g. mention of Lagoona still having a brother in this fanverse) but I thought this information might be interesting to some people:

Frankie:

Woke up alone except for some letters from her parents, her blueprints, a mapalogue, and a metal box containing Watzit

Still communicates with her parents but hopes to formally meet them some day

Is very interested in engineering

Has somewhat of a friendly rivalry with Ghoulia

Has mad sewing skills from having to put herself back together so much (Clawdeen loves her for this)

Wants to help the human and monster worlds connect better

Draculaura:

Has lived in hiding with Dracula

Totally reads cheesy romance novels, probably involving vampires

Has known Bloodgood for a long time

Wants to become the next headmistress, or at least a respected monster rights activist

Isn’t exactly a hoarder and cares about every single one of them but probably brings a lot of animals home

Still hemophobic-  has ptsd and takes a lot of iron supplements

Actually has just never really been in the best of health

Clawdeen:

Has lived in hiding with most of her family- Clawdia lives in London disguised as a human

Can still switch between human and wolf forms at will, but things get a little weird when there’s a full moon

Has to share a mapalogue between herself, Clawd, and Howleen. It might be illegal in the monster world for anyone under 13 to own/use one.

Definitely has a thing for Draculaura

Makes all her clothes

Probably has at least 5 sketchbooks lying around at any given time

Helps her mom and Clawd take care of their younger siblings

Lagoona:

Had to raise Kelpie and their younger brother (there’s only one in this au because the less carbon-copy siblings the better) more or less on her own

Obviously is the one who got the mapalogue after what I just established

Still has hella anxiety. Probably on meds.

Probably also on like every other sports team

Like in g1, used to be a folk dancer but left because of her anxiety and Kala. Is probably highly protective of Kelpie because of this

In general is so concerned with other people that she tends to spread herself thin

Says she’s a saltwater monster for the sake of technicality but actually does well in either fresh or salt water. Got this from her father.

Is totally dating Venus

Cleo:

Lived with her family for a while, then was forced into hiding on her own

Is the de Nile heir despite being younger than Nefera because she has better people skills

As a result, was given the mapalogue. Nefera tried to break it but it still works. It’s probably also bedazzled.

Really fucking loves snakes dude this is so important

Kind of doesn’t know how a lot of technology works

Technically can summon as many servants as she needs to but has just one exclusively loyal to her. They’re probably like golems or some shit

I mean there’s also Ghoulia but she’s a little nicer to Ghoulia

Operetta:

Her birth name is Christine Destler. Dracula is literally the only person who calls her     that.

Grew up in New Orleans, was sent to live with Bloodgood in Oregon for her personal safety.

Was given a map of the catacombs by her father (which means he probably had some involvement in the school’s creation) and still prefers just to live there

Can play organ/piano, guitar, and banjo. Also knows a bit about recording and editing.

Is romantically involved with Holt and has collaborated with him multiple times

Her scars are probably a birthmark since that’s what she’s hinted at in her official bio

Billy:

Still has trouble making himself fully visible

Actually lives with both his parents. His mother re-married (to another invisible man) when he was pretty young and he has a pretty good relationship with his stepdad

His parents work as special effects artists so they help him “pass” with makeup (so he doesn’t have to wear fake tan and look terrible)

His birth father gave his mother his mapalogue before they divorced and he finally received it when he came of age

Really doesn’t like the “monster” label

Still really likes     pie

Ok, so I’m going to take a moment to

✨Scream into the void✨

That is my blog about Monster high. In general. So I grew up in my preteens watching G1 of monster high, and I have just discovered the beautiful objects, Bram Stoker’s Dracula, and the many flavors of phantom of the opera. (I’m a big fan of ALW as far as physical reenactment as long as we don’t talk about the sequel that made everyone suck.)

And I am going to take it upon myself to scream about the fact that Count Dracula, and Erik, our Opera Ghost…..hAVE KIDS???? Like. I grew up with Dracula esc characters, or the basic idea of Dracula through family Halloween movies. But I only discovered Erik in Musical form officially last year. And there’s no way in hell that anyone is stupid enough to have kids with this man, right???? Like??? Who’s OPERETTAS MOM???? It’s definitely not Christine so like??? Who??? And then there’s Dracula. When did he decide he was gonna have kids?? And I’m sure he falls to his knees in anguish when he finds out his daughter is a vegan, my god! Talk about a stake to the heart, I’m sure that was a shock for him. (Mind you that I love the fact that Draculaura is a vegan but it boggles my mind that Vlad would brush this off). There’s also the fact that Operetta is a country/rock fan. And an Elvis fan. So like, I’m sure her teen years were awesome.😬 I’ve been thinking way too hard on this, but any comments or thoughts or other people out there wanna scream about it with me, well * peeks out crack in the wall* join me in this downward spiral into madness.

Christine “Operetta” Destler Daughter of the Phantom of the Opera

Class of 2014

Aspirations: to become a world-famous musician…if only bad things didn’t happen when I sing.

Monster Legacy: I’d reckon the normies don’t even consider my daddy a monster at this point. You seen all the publicity he gets?

When the monsters went into hiding, the phantom formerly known as Erik relocated to the southern United States with his human wife and their young daughter, Christine Destler. Christine, or Operetta as they would call her, quickly picked up her father’s penchant for music, as well as the local accent. Operetta’s life on the New Orleans riverboat her family took up residence in was relatively quiet until her teenhood, when her monster powers developed more and her singing began to have a destructive effect on those around her. For her protection, Erik made arrangements with Dracula and Bloodgood to send his daughter to Monster High, where she could learn to manage her abilities better.

Before she moved to New Salem, Operetta’s father gave her a map of the Monster High catacombs, which she has since made her own.

Notes:

her freshman design is based on her basic design, specifically her appearance in the webisodes.

her scars are still a birthmark, as hinted at in her original bio, though I’ve changed them to look a little nastier

her surname, Destler, is the same one given to Erik in the 1989 film starring Robert Englund. her first name, Christine, is obviously the same as the female lead in the original story.

I’ve changed her mask to cover both her eyes but it still doesn’t do much to hide her scars. she probably doesn’t care whether people can see them and just wears the mask because what kind of phantom would she be if she didn’t wear the mask

G1 canon seems to be indecisive over whether Operetta’s originally from Charleston or New Orleans. I’ve gone with the latter since that was what was first stated in the lore, complete with an official-looking document
