his preferred way of waking you up is faking puking noises and when you throw your covers off and literally zoom into the living room, he gives you a look as if saying “finally awake, you silly human slave”

sometimes he even jumps on top of your chest harshly but that’s only used if you’re oversleeping with your alarm clock snoozed for the past 20 minutes and you’re running late to work

despises baths with a burning passion

if you’re taking him anywhere a large body of water is, he’s trashing around, kicking, hissing, biting, scratching - the whole pack

after a successful bathing time, with added new scratch marks on yourself, he would not approach you until you fall asleep

after you have fell asleep, he would quietly approach your sleeping figure and give small, shy licks to the angry red scratches he caused as if apologizing for being so aggressive

hates rainy days too, especially the ones with thunder and lightning

jumps up 5 ft into the air if a thunder strikes and runs into your lap, shaking small body curling into himself with all of his cockiness and pride out the window

scaranya appreciates you greatly but he’s just a bit too bad at communicating and so he shows his affection by lapping up the scratches he gave you

“scaranya, aren’t you gonna go out to the back garden and play with the rest? it’s nice outside today”

hmph! what do you mean by play with the rest of the cats? he’s a royal! he’s superior! scaranya has never heard of such bullshit befor- oh! a bird! must. catch!

scaranya and miao gets into fights sometimes and whenever you separate them, scaranya goes to sulk in the corner of the house silently

until you go over to him with a sigh and pick him up gently, he doesn’t even resist - just choosing to simply curl his tail around your wrist

miao acts more like a guard dog than a cat sometimes

the smallest out of all the kitties yet also the strongest one. honestly the sheer amount of times miao has taken down a wild dog 10 times his size just keeps giving you more and more heart attack

doesn’t get zoomies, if anything he stops the other kitties’ zoomies if they go a bit too far - which most of the times escalate into scaranya and miao fighting

cleanse the land house through slaughter bug hunting

miao’s preferred way of waking you up is to silently sit on your side of the bed and stare until you get that feeling of being watched and wake up to 2 piercing yellow eyes just staring holes into your soul

yes, you have yelled and fell off of your bed many times due to that

you found little miao at a dark alleyway, covered in blood and barely on the brink of death with his tiny paws twitching constantly

grew up malnourished on the streets with his 4 siblings dying out one by one, so due to that miao’s body is very small and he’s extremely territorial with you - his one and only sweet human

always leaves his scent on you by rubbing his head around your ankles

miao is indifferent when it comes to taking a bath, unlike scaranya, and he can be very obedient as well

when rubbing soap into his legs and washing his paws he would stretch out his limbs to make it easier for you to wash him - anything to lessen the load of his favorite human

he also seems to like your co-worker, zhongli a lot

one time you came home with zhongli due to a deadline of a great project coming closer and upon seeing him, miao immediately jumped into his lap, purring lowly, rubbing his head on zhongli’s hand

yes your heart broke at the betrayal and yes miao apologized with a dead rat in his mouth

but if it’s any other guests you’re bringing home, then miao would either get on top of the fridge and simply watch or hiss at the guest

oddly likes being in high places

one time, you made him a small necklace-collar thingy out of a few pearls and he wears that with pride, chest puffed out (a replica of his necklace)

loves sleeping on the lower parts of your bed at night. it’s soft, fluffy and he can keep an eye on you and keep you safe so it’s a win-win in miao’s book

“miao-miao, do you wanna come with me to the back garden to pick up the tomatoes?”

before you can even finish your question he’s already at the back door, staring at you expectantly with his tail thumping slowly against the floorboards

thanks to miao and kazunya your house will never get any bugs, roaches or mouses inside

if feeling incredibly vulnerable and soft, miao paws at your arm to ask for pets bc he just needs the comfort of his favorite human

literally a 9/10 kitty if he would just change his way of waking you up

also really enjoys spilling tea to you

it doesn’t matter if you’re waking up and is still groggy or just coming in through the front door, back from work - heinya is spilling all the drama of the shows he watched on the tv while you were away or the different birds he saw through the window - meowing away at you excitedly

if you’re coming back from grocery shopping then heinya can take some of the smallest and lightest bagged things and dragging them to the kitchen alongside miao, kazunya and nyaether

heinya’s preferred way of waking you up is to make biscuits - you know that cute thing cats do with their paws squishing at their favorite spot over and over - on your stomach or lower back or! he just meows besides your ear over and over until you eventually wake up

and heinya really likes watching real life crime documentaries for some reason

at first when you found this out, you couldn’t help but think heinya is going to murder you in your sleep but soon you realized he just loves crime related things

when getting the zoomies, heinya decides to bite and kick at the spy glass shaped squeaky toy - making the toy let out squeaks at every little kick

heinya enjoys spending time outdoors, sniffing at the different scents wafting in the air, tracking down all different sorts of footsteps and paw marks with great interest - you sometimes wonder if heinya was a detective in his past life

loves to bring you all sorts of interesting things he found - an old ripped part of a newspaper article, a weirdly shaped leaf, a flower he has never seen before, a half bitten chicken still warm - wait where’d he get this?

loves to sleep using your hand as a pillow my cat does that to me so rip bc you have been captured by the amazing detective heinya and you won’t be moving for hours on end, let’s hope you had a nice snack and a toilet break beforehand

chose to wear the smooth, black satin you tied around his neck as a collar - either bc he loves to wear soft things or he just loves it bc you gave it to him

heinya is an incredibly affectionate kitty, always meowing for you for pets, cuddles and perhaps his favorite soft wet food? he’s been really good!

doesn’t really mind taking baths as well, if anything he uses this opportunity to shake bubbles everywhere!

for some reason, also loves to groom your hand. maybe it’s just something your kitties all share?

overall another solid 9/10 kitty, if you don’t mind being splashed with water and bubbles while bathing him

kazunya, me beloved

literally an angel, how could you ever be mad at him even as he took a whole bite out of your potted plants’ leaf?

another kitty that loves staying in high places like miao and stay outdoors like heinya

joins miao on his duty to cleanse the land house through slaughter bug hunting from time to time

a lazy, sweetheart of a cat that loves to sleep on warm places and the sunlight - you literally had to buy a window sling just for him to nap under the sunlight

another helpful hand!

will drag the lightest and smallest bagged things to the kitchen whenever you come back from grocery shopping - more so if it’s cat food

isn’t a picky eater but sometimes, just sometimes, prefers food with fish in it’s ingredients

kazunya is mostly tasked to wake you up by the other kitties bc he’s the sweetest

wakes you up by purring and snuggling with your face, neck, hands - anything just you in general

soon enough, the small fluff purring and cuddling you wakes you up and as a reward for waking up, kazunya gives you a small kiss - a lick to the tip of your nose - making you laugh

doesn’t meow a lot, only when he has to or if it’s an emergency such as the litter boxes not being cleaned, the food trays being empty etc

always gives you a kazunya kiss as a thank you

a gentle baby, even to the guests

whenever a guest comes over to your house, they always gush about the cute white cat with a small red streak in his fur

kazunya doesn’t get zoomies. even if he does it’s rare like only once a week

always grooms himself to keep himself clean, not to mention his white fur sparkling as well

surprisingly enjoys bath times, would even suggest you to bathe him by tugging on your sleeve then pointing to the bathroom with his fluffy paw!

however there’s just one thing that kazunya does that makes you shiver

it’s that he always, always! brings you dead animals or bugs. birds, rats, mouses, cockroaches, crickets - anything that he managed to hunt - he brings over to you with his tail swishing happily behind him

it’s considered a gift in cat language, you know that! but it’s just a bit dirty especially if he brings over different bugs. the rats, mouses and birds you can handle but the bugs brrr

one time, kazunya proudly brought you a dead wolf spider as you held back a tear and a screech, deciding to take his gift with a forced smile

you never recovered from that

helpful, never complains, never picky with his food - a literal angel

however sometimes nyaeather disappears randomly, coming back after a day or so

he always seems to be searching for something - his twin - you soon found out, by registering him and getting his pet password

and so you decided to help him reunite with his twin by putting up posters, articles, news on the internet, tv, radio - anything to make nyaether happy

after a whole half year of dedication and endless search, nyaether’s twin was finally found!

turns out the person who adopted nyaether’s twin was your co-worker, dainsleif, the quiet and mysterious tall man

after talking to him about the situation of the twin kitties, you both have come to an agreement to let the kitties have a play date once a week

when the day of the first play date has arrived an someone knocked on your door, your kitties gave you a confused look

upon taking nyaether in your arms, you walked over to the front door before unlocking it and letting dainsleif inside. as the blond man placed down the catbag and opened it, from inside stepped out a cute, similarly blonde furred kitty with a baby blue colored collar

upon seeing the kitty, nyaether jumped out of your arms and tackled his twin. cuddling her and licking at her face with a teary eyes - you and your co-worker dainsleif couldn’t help but laugh at the adorable situation

since then nyaether had made a silent oath to always be beside you and be your best kitty! you have done a lot for him by helping him reunite with his twin - nyumine - so he would do anything in his power to lessen your load!

nyaether’s preferred way of waking you up is by giving a gentle meow beside your ear and give your cheek three kisses - repeat the process on the other side until you eventually giggle and wake up

another kitty that doesn’t mind taking baths! however he just prefers the water to have a bit of bubbles to soothe his nerves

likes to sleep in your arms since he has separation anxiety like scaranya - due to the incident with his twin

unlike heinya, nyenti doesn’t really enjoy being outdoors - he just prefers to stay on your lap, lazily bathing in the sun - as he sometimes meows with heinya about some dramas

him and heinya meows your ears off with the things they have seen, watched, witnessed and heard - sometimes even adding some dirt on the other kitties such as kazunya eating leaves from your potted plants, scaranya sleeping on your hoodie bc he missed you, miao destroying the pantry during his duty to cleanse the land etc etc etc

nyenti’s preferred way of waking you up is to play with your hair. whether it be grooming at your hair, playing with them, tugging on the ends gently - it doesn’t matter which form - as long as nyenti wakes you up, that’s all

he also doesn’t do much hunting either, preferring to watch from the sidelines as the others chase some bugs and small animals they found

for some odd reason nyenti likes you to put flowers on top of his head or a flower shaped charms as a collar - his most favorite and preferred one being the white lily

cut the flower's bud and place it on top of nyenti upside down like it's a cone hat and nyenti would give you the biggest, affectionate "myew!" while rolling around on the ground, showing you his tummy

a sweet kitty if he would just stop being a little zoomie induced shit

nyenti is another kitty that hates taking baths

doesn't react as aggressive as scaranya but he likes to yell his defiance a lot and i mean a lot

overall, a solid 8.5/10 kitty if he would just stop meowing loudly in your ears everytime you take him for a bathtime, making you more and more deaf

He'll dress you up in soft, fluffy clothes until you look like a marshmallow to make sure you won't hurt yourself.

Dk if you know smt called Batman the animated series but if you do: then you’ll know the iconic scene where Harley actually successfully captures Batman and Batman’s has this talk to Harley how she honestly better off without the Joker and points out all the fake excuses that the joker as up his sleeves for Harley treatment and she breakdown a bit.

Iconic scene for such a good moment concept: the idea that yandere vs Yandere bf for darling but you and Yandere bf have thag joker and Harley dynamic going on.

And adding onto Yandere ganger bf and Yandere bonten ~ the idea that Yandere ganger bf been pissy all week and took it out on you physically, emotionally and mentally and you being your version of Harley you decide that instead of getting a nice gift like a sane person you decide to capture Bonten higher ups (truly how thoughtful) so you plan this elaborate trap and go through all the trouble

And what’s wild is it worked wow (truly wow) it oddly work in your favor. Now you have them tied to a chair- now here’s the fun part

I love the idea that there been a rumor going around Bonten hears one of the gangs are a duo (sorta) situation and they have a very strong joker and Harley dynamic- they met the manic but now they get to see the Harley (you) in full display alone too.

I love the idea that though they seen you they never really get to talk to you and they been very wanting to talk to you since half of the time the weasel joker bf of yours talks for you- I can see they def have a full knowledge of who you are already from an intense background check they did from anything about you any small details nothing gets left behind.

I love the idea that yan bonten def start the whole thing- some of them def making it clear they are clearly shitting on your joker bf right and the other subtle hints that they see him as some annoying pest. You in your little Harley mindset offended bc obviously and you talk about him in red tint lighting and their all like “ppfft- really” all sneer and totally didn’t drop the facts of seeing your ‘man’ in a brothel once or a love hotel or even going to their own personal clubs and asking and paying for women.

Bonus point they ask about the noticeable purple marks on you, bonus points that I know def three of these Bonten men (looking at the trio here) having sublt hints of flirting and talking shit about your man and the other three getting to the point - I can see this applying to other yan but I wanna play this out with Bonten first then send to other characters

okay i've thought about this one a lot and i have some ideas

the only reason harley! darling managed to catch the bonten higher ups is because they're absolutely enthralled with them. they are so smitten for you that they've willingly let themselves get captured just to see and spend some time with you, cause you're so heart eyes to them.

for a while they've known about you through rumors, and during their investigation you definitely caught their eye. they like how fun and carefree you are, and how devoted you are to your work (or more accurately, who you work for/with). that kind of passion and devotion is something that really would drive them crazy, i think, especially sanzu. they just,,, don't like you're bitch boyfriend that treats you like shit despite how utterly in love with him you are. it's bullshit.

but anyway, they did a lot of research about you. you're certainly an interesting person regardless of if they're infatuated or not, because you really don't hear of or see a person quite like you very often, if at all. so yeah, lots of research and highly intensive background checks were done on you to find out every little detail about you. they know of your past, what you were like, every single job you've had, schools you went to, family, friends, how you and your boyfriend met,,, and how you ended up to be so eccentric as you are. they know everything. even things like your favorite color and that you have a really strong dislike/fear for fish because when you were a kid one jumped out at you and landed right on your face.

they use all of this information about you to their advantage when they're talking down your boyfriend and trying to convert you into their little harley! lover. they dig deep into your unstable emotions to shit on your boyfriend and make you realize that he is a real piece of shit. you aren't so easily swayed because you are totally wrapped around your joker! boyfriends' finger, but slowly they deteriorate your drive and make you question things. they get cocky with it and definitely definitely flirty. and they can be very persuasive when they try and get you on their side, you know?

you realize they're fun and they actually want you because they want you not because they wanna use you and it's only a matter of time before you're completely detached from joker! boyfriend and attached to them. it does take a lot of work to do that though, but you know, it's not impossible.

Aw, that makes me so incredibly happy!!!! As much as I rag on P5's story execution, I do adore all the potential there is to the characters and the potential in redesigns that better fit the character's personalities. I'll repost all the ones I've finished for funsies, but I think now is actually a good time to mention that I'm going to be compiling all my p5 redesigns into a little zine (a re-de-zine haha) with more detailed thought process behind what I was thinking when redesigning them (there wasnt enough blank space for all my notes, or my sketches)! I'll add some blurbs from the document I have in [these] brackets! I actually focused heavily on his mask, so I'm super relieved and excited that it's what you liked most about it!

JOKER

[[Aside from Akechi’s prince outfit (which I think was flawlessly executed), I knew that I couldn’t allow myself to butcher Joker’s design- especially since I intended to remake his mask, despite his mask being perfect as it is (and was also my base for the Black Mask design before I decided to remake everyone else). // My main concern was to make the outfit represent all of PT’s, not just Joker, but I also wanted to highlight Akechi’s part in playing as his foil. As such, where Akira has a heart shape connecting all phantom thieves together by a silver string of fate, Akechi has a distorted red glow that extends chains to weigh him down as well as wings to show his ability to choose his own path.]]

AKECHI [[I wanted to keep his face obscured, but add an option to show himself if he wished. So, a hood helped cover him up for me. It helped me make it feel as though it’s a “lost” part of Robin Hood that still clings on to his Black Mask design- a desire (though weak and decaying) to be a good person underneath it all for someone he once cared about. //

Akechi's chains (from his heart) symbolize his outlook on bonds, and how they tie you down, whereas Jokers symbolize the strength he has with his teammates. I felt like this was a little too sad to write on the concept page. Reading “Goro Akechi has no friends and it manifests in his Black Mask outfit” isn’t the most uplifting sentence you want to stumble across.]] ANN [[Ann was often forced to hold her tongue around Kamoshida in order to protect Shiho, and Shiho in turn tried to do the same to protect Ann. The whip I created for her is a play on the phrase “hold your tongue” showing a lion with it’s mouth open and its tongue hanging out- filled with thorns and ready to be used as a weapon to protect those that she values. One of her biggest weaknesses now becomes her force for change and success, and she ultimately uses her power as a thief to open the maw of the man that told her to be quiet- revealing all his ugly secrets with his own words.]]

MORGANA

[[ I wanted to make him blend in more with a classic SMT demon such as Jack Frost, but still distinct enough to stand out as “more than a demon”.

Since Morgana is the collective human hope, I think he can take any shape or form. I only retained his cat persona because I wanted to stay true to the original design concept of it being an animal. If I was allowed complete creative form over a “guiding light” however, I think I would base Morgana’s design on Anubis or psychopomps- guides of souls (souls of human hope). The interesting thing about psychopomps is that while Anubis is also an example of one, commonly, so are crows. Meaning, I would have to design Morgana to fit a canine in order to imply Akechi himself could have perhaps had a guide similar to Mona if he was not used to bring about ruin. However, Morgana’s cat aesthetic is tied into Joker’s own traits (sometimes down to mannerisms), so getting rid of the cat persona was not something I really wanted. That, and the fact the last protagonist was based on a loyal dog made it hard for me to choose canine. I would have liked to pull something out of zoroastrianism if possible, but I was not sure how far I could take it before his design became entirely unrecognisable. And the point of a redesign was not to entirely change them to become different characters, but just to play around with different themes to better fit the character and their backstory/feelings/traits.

I really hope this content was fun to read!!!! The next design I have in my WIPS is Yusuke. Honestly, I find Ryuji and Yusuke are going to be super challenging, since I ADORE their designs and I genuinely do not want to just touch them up randomly without purpose and happen to downgrade them. SMTV is hard for me to discuss because there's very little about it that compels me to deeper thought. It really, genuinely bores me to think about, and anything I do have to say about it only evinces an incredibly cynical read of the series. I'll just put whatever I have left to say here, so that I don't feel the need to revisit.

It's just, you know, this bloodless cultivation of recycled semiotics from Nocturne. We ragged on IV for being overly invested in derivation and homage, but it looks almost daring coming off of V. The only really original idea that it brings to the table, the notion of Nahobino as the 'true' form of these divided and depreciated myth images, is almost offensive in the way it reframes designs that at least try to approximate real cultural attitudes towards religion as lesser, enervated reflections of yet more Tokusatsu tripe. Apart from that, it's a very inert piece of storytelling. I feel like a joke is being played on me whenever the game presumes an emotional investment in characters like Tao or Yuzuru.

I generally think highly of all the little design wrinkles that were implemented under Komori's stewardship, and that owe to his experience directing the more balance-intensive affairs of Etrian Odyssey. The new utility of consumables, dampeners as a limited means of addressing weakness in party structure, the need to attend to enemy and player Magatsuhi gauges etc. All necessary supplements to a battle system that was beginning to wear thin by 2016. Only my opinion of everything that enfolds it, the exploration, was diminished on this second playthrough. The layouts are still compelling, with a novel emphasis on managing layers of verticality, but they're populated with so much idiot open-world cruft. Vending machines, chests, glory crystals, health orbs, Miman. An overabundance of piddling incentive to keep you in a state of compulsion, and which I believe contributes to the exhaustion that many players feel come Taito. I still like the Miman, but they essentially exist in a continuum with the fucking feather collectables in Assassin's Creed.

(All the colored orbs littered around the sands are the perfect wedge to that design sensibility. They're almost totally inconsequential and only worth pursuing for the feeling of having absorbed more bright bobbles into yourself. They whisper to your lizard brain so that you don't feel too unstimulated navigating the space, which is never deigned to be worth the doing for its own sake. I'm out here picking up orbs and I can't even use them to extend the duration of Spartan Rage. Videogames are fucking stupid.)

It also made me more conscious of the ways the game fails to leverage art direction against what were probably non-ideal production conditions. It's never easy to forget that you're in a world of economically distributed UE4 assets, with no less than four brilliant hues of sparkling sand and ruined structures that have largely forfeited the Tokyoite specificity of previous games in favor of the same vending machines and multi-floor apartments and office buildings repeated ad nauseam. Daat never feels more like a hostile environment than a self-conscious playground. The concept art backdrops and rudimentary 3D textures of IV/IVA, and the claustrophobic interiors of I- all more lively by far. Pretty good skyboxes, though. No complaints there.

I think the series has moved into the sort of tired self-pastiche that every franchise turns to after decades of iteration. Time and chance happened, and now it's Angus Young crawling out of his mansion and into his boy-clothes to duckwalk across the stage while his grapefruit-sized prostate wages war against him from within.

If I were to rank just the main series from what we've streamed thus far, it would be something like I > IV > V > IVA. The only sense in which TMS has it at a disadvantage is that it emulates more cleanly. I'm glad that we're done with the latter half of the series and can finally move on, but I'll never forget that big huge enormous ass...

I know that there's some weird things happening with The Magnus Institute in Protocol as well, I mean even if I hadnd't looked into the ARG, RedCanary makes it a given, buuut since there's not enough information to contradict me right now I'm using the fact that in TMAGP the Magnus Institute is both not in London (a place chosen specifically because of how watched it was) and a educational program for gifted kids to pretend that the answer to the question: "what would Jonah Magnus do if the Fears weren't around?" to be "focus his obcessive nature into the concept of education" for some reason.

He convinced Mordechai Lukas to fund his school, made Robert project it and sacrificed Barnabas to a group of angry kindegardens. Not a single person could guess why Magnus was soo driven into teaching kids but he wanted smart well-educated kids and he was getting smart well-educated kids if he had to pipe murder the PTA Karen himself. He is still exactally the same georgian evil whore but now he uses it to pick a normal happy and pure kid and turn them into really good and extremely noisy journalists or smt.

Todays Demon Angel of the Day has many epithets- the Chariots of God, the Angels closest to His throne, Ophanim, the big spinning wheels with eyes- Thrones have as many names as they scare mortals by their appearance, classically being beings made of many interlocking wheels, each studded with thousands of eyes. Known for powerful minds and being protectors of humanity, Thrones represent the steadfast love for humanity that God has, frequently mulling over his will in a search for knowledge.

Thrones are incredibly well known, alongside Cherubim and Seraphim, as being the originators of the 'Biblically Accurate Angel' meme that has been going around for years, and for good reason- their appearance is downright otherworldly, almost beyond comprehension, so vaguely described that there are many, many images depicting it, each of which have completely different looks yet still fit the basic concept.

Their role in the heavens is that as, well, the literal throne of God, as well as almost serving as his 'editor' of sorts. They frequently meet with the other angels and God himself to discuss philosophy and the like, maybe even playing a role as a scribe, though as with much angelology, the frustratingly vague descriptions given to us in Revelations make it hard to grasp much about them.

"The third of the nine orders of angels. Their Hebrew name, Ophan, carries the meaning of "wheel".

They are the highest ranking angels to carry a material body and are tasked with carrying the seat of God." Is the description given to this group of angels in SMT V, and it's apt in describing what it is exactly they do- but their appearance in the games are strange in a completely different way than in their more classical appearance.

Thrones in SMT appear as humanoids with black, coal-like skin wearing ebony robes who float within a burning wheel that constantly moves- it almost feels like Kaneko wanted to make them still recognizably human, while maintaining their otherworldly appearance in the religion itself, and frankly, I can respect it.

im not too familiar with the term so im going off the concept of how it affected him here mostly since i dont wanna "diagnose" anyone with anything, i hope that ok

the first few days after the murder he tried to play it cool, the reality hadnt set in yet and he was a bit too deep into his "cold loner badboy" persona to really let himself understand what he had done

its only after he has to go back to school that it starts to dawn on him

he has a talk with tommy after that. it doesnt go anywhere cus tommy is still a bit mad at him and he sucks at expressing his feelings

hed try to burry those feelings as deep as he could but i dont think hes gonna get any sleep for a while, hes very affraid of himself suddenly (what gets him to swear off fighting) and hes aware of his size and his strenght in a way that makes him unconfortable

specially when going to school and interacting with other ppl, being aware that he could, phisically at least, kill them terrifies him and he feels like ppl can sense it too <- they cant

you know that feeling of guilt when you do smt bad and you get no punishment? hed get that so bad and in the specifc way where i think hed try to punish himself, not in a "direct SH" kinda way but depriving himself of things , intentionally not wearing weather aproppiate clothes, eating less and stuff like that

Headcanons about the Cainhurst portraits

@heraldofcrow wanted me to share some of my thoughts on it (but I will only talk about 3-4 of them because I have no idea who are this other people...and we will never know... it's making me crazy at times) So, here's all the ideas/theory about the potato baby especially 👀

First, we need to establish that is painting below, represents Annalise. Ok? I'm not gonna explained it but if you lore dig + look at the concept arts I add. I really think it's her. (Short ver : She lost her melanine like Arianna (yep her hair turned white not blonde after the birth of the celestial larvae. Probably because of the failed birth of the child of Blood).

Now, about this one there's 2 possibilities for the woman.

it's an older/more recent Annalise painting.

It's Annalise's mother, the precedent Queen of Cainhurst.

I tend more on the mother idea but I need to take into account it could still be Annalise. The big problem is that we don't know if all the painting have been made around the same time or not... so who knows...And I'm really bad at telling if it's the same person or not... But anyway I'm here to discuss more about the infant in her arms (so I will take into account both possibilities + The woman might/ might not be the mother of the child too);

If the Queen holding the child is Annalise :

The Child of Blood : I heard this idea on one on Sinclair lore podcast. (I don't remember which one). They said it could be a representation of the child of blood of the Vileblood before it's birth (the one Annalise tried to have and highly didn't make it). They explained that at the time, people didn't do painting everyday and sometimes children were painted to look older than what they actually looked like.

Arianna / Alfred ? : If the cainhurst massacre happened a few decades ago + Arianna age that could fit. Same with Alfred if you believe in the Alfred=Vileblood theory. But why would Annalise hold them in there ?? I don't know

Others : I can only think of 2 others (3 with the next speculation below) on who that could represents. I don't think it's him but Vileblood hunter Leo (a cut npc? chalice dungeon enemy) have white/blond hair so.... and an idea of mine is that it would be another known character from the game linked with Cainhurst you might have seen pass... and fight.... Yes, I have HUGE thoughts about Baby Crow !!!!! but I don't want to develop it too much because it's for a fic idea!!!!

If it's the late Queen

I can only see one character in that case... but who know maybe the baby is really someone we don't know... (I mean it's a baby it's complicated to figured who it would look like later) So... in that case I wouldn't be surprised if this is in fact Lady Maria. That would be the most hilarious and angsty thing ever. If Mr Miyazaki came to tell us that, I would believe him in one instant.

Now 2 more possibilities if it's Maria, because why would she have the Queen hold her as a baby in an official portrait ??

We know Maria is a "collateral" relative of Annalise (closer and correct translation from the Japanese). A collateral relative means there's no descendance link between the two (not parent/child/grandparent links) so it could be : cousins (of different degrees, could be 1st, 2nd...) uncle/aunt & nephew or... siblings... yep. wouldn't that be fun ?! extremely drama if her and Annalise are actually freaking sisters (or half sisters I dunno). And maybe it's just me but I feel the clothes the woman wear are more practical to nurse too.

In that interpretation pretty sure this is the the dad then XD I mean come on they're both blond and have the same red clothes. Don't they share a similar vibes ? (there's lot of interpretations/theories on this guy too but I won't dig into that today).

Personal headcanon of mine : her and Annalise are just cousins or smt but Maria is like really not far behind in line of succession/ or well a human pyromancer (like the pthumerians) (if she could really do her fire blade before dying and getting trap in the nightmare) and it could have been seen as a sort of miracle. So she's special.

Bonus :

I believed that guy is the cut king of Cainhurst / Annalise's husband too (I have some headcanaons about him but it will be for another day. Mr royal guard too + maybe a few other paintings as well...)

(for you specifically: the demi-fiend is a character in atlus' shin megami tensei franchise first introduced in smt: nocturne. through lucifer's influence during the conception (end of the world) he's turned into a demon. he becomes responsible for deciding how the world should be reborn but can't recreate the world after his vision because he's by definition no longer human. he also has sick tattoos.)

favourite thing about them: i really really like this middle spot he's in between being human and demon. that's something that really appeals to me personally

least favourite thing about him: it's a very minor thing, but i think it's a bit annoying how i can only express his personality through answering "yes | no" questions in the game. there is no real way to discern his personality beyond that (at least not where im at in the game now, great ginza underpass). i think in the manga? or something similar, he does get more character development

favourite line: he doesn't... really speak a lot from what ive seen yet. so. ahhhuh no clue. i might add onto this when i find something

brOTP: i think the demifiend and the nahobino (smtv, also a creechur) would get along like a house on fire. they should cause chaos together and bite people maybe

random headcanon: i think he curls up like a cat to nap. the changes to his body when he became a demon made him more flexible makes it very comfortable to curl up in positions that would make a human cry in pain

unpopular opinion: i am not in tune enough with the fan community to answer this i think. i do think the pants he wears are mad ugly though and very impractical. but im not the one wearing them so if he's happy that's all i care about :)

Okay idk if it's something wrong with me and my autistic brain didn't fully understand the concept of SMT Nocturne the first time I played it or is Demi-Fiend actually the most misunderstood by fandom megaten protagonist?

Like I read the reddit thread today (edit: at the time I was written that draft for the 1st time) about what do you think would happen if SMT and Persona protags had a chance to meet (like not fight, just meet and be able to talk) and almost everyone were like "oh Demi Fiend would kill everyone on first sight for breathing the same air as him" and also in other fan media like in fan fiction or some fan comics I often see him, both in his Demi Fiend form but even sometimes in his human Naoki Kashima form, being described as an extremely violent or aggresive guy?

And I genuinely think I'm insane because I feel like I'm the only person in megaten fandom who doesn't perceive him that way at all?

Like for me Demi Fiend is actually more like this large dog - yes, he looks scary, yes if provoked he can and will harm you but actually he would most likely to leave you alone if you had no intention to fight him?

Like unpopular opinion but I think V-kun/Nahobino has actually more potential to be a violent or dangerous rather than Naoki himself

Like in the game we can see that Naoki seems to be very guillible boy, highly intelligent in logic and math things but having a complete lack of awarness in social situations (I actually headcanon him as autistic because he shown a lot of characteristics of person in the spectrum imo and maybe that's why I can relate to him so much lmao) . But not really violent in nature. Like imo he is shown in the game many times he had a soft side - like the way he treated Pixie or Manikins (like for example, if he really was as violent as fandom describes him, he would probably kill the Mainikin kid on the spot for magatama instead of actually complying to his terms and taking an effort to solve that damn puzzle boy game)

And also I feel like many people forget that actually almost everything that happened in Nocturne (maybe besides the ending stuff) wasn't Demi Fiend's choice at all? Like he wasn't given a choice when Lucifer showed the bug down his throat, he was manipulated by Hiriji to work for him, got used by Isamu and Chiaki as well, then he was also tricked into Lucifer's little Menorah Fight Club as well and only was told a truth when Lucifer already taken the last bit of humanity he had (although I have a theory he might have been not 100% succesful since even after being locked in TDE I noticed some dialogue choices implying that perhaps something "humane" still stayed in him even after technically getting rid of human's soul)? Like literally almost everything wasn't his concious choice, in contrary to V-kun/Nahobino for example where almost every choice in SMT V was his own, concious decisions he had made - so yeah, that's why I think V-kun might have more violent tendencies in himself than Naoki, even if that seems surprising.

I'm not saying he's 100% the saint, but also I think his character is really flattened to only being this "violent, punching everyone around him demon boy" and misunderstood by fandom imo (or it's just me, maybe I didn't understand SMT Nocturne's message or something or maybe I just have a blorbo bias idk🤷‍♀️)

So yeah TLDR: Maybe I'm insane but I'm gonna defend this boy until the day I die, give him a break lol

tbh i don’t know when or if i’ll get back to playing desu2–strategy games are particularly draining for me when i feel as if they’re pushing too long without justification and that’s a problem i’m facing with 2.

i do want to inevitably talk about a couple more things desu2 put out there i appreciate it for over other megatens since there’s so much potential here. it’s by no means a bad game!!! it’s just too much. it’s heavily flawed. and though i see why people love it, those flaws still need to be acknowledged.

yes the gameplay improvements are amazing. yes i do think more time and effort was put into 2 than the first game presentation-wise, some of the battle improvements are much better, there are concepts no megaten would ever dare to even try and tackle at least in the pre-established format mainline is famous for, and though the writing is generally messy and contradictory, it’s genuinely entertaining at points… until day 8. we do not need a day 8 unless it’s post-game content like what overclocked did.

the problem stems the most from an identity crisis affecting the way it plays. of course it mainly struggles from its nge inspiration, but the biggest part of the identity crisis is one based in a criticism no megaten fan likes. hate to do it but imma do it—devil survivor 2 is one of atlus’s first attempts at persona-ifying the rest of the franchise. it’s a problem i want to touch on in the future so imma keep this brief.

desu2 clearly wants to be modern persona the most, judging by the fate system and how it does the cast, however a strategy game can’t pull this off without jumping major hoops. fire emblem does the social aspect better because the process is streamlined and the characters you’re made to care about usually tend to be written well unless your name is fates. (anything that has the word “fate” in the title should be enough of a red flag for either garbage fandom or garbage product just saying lol.) however, with what success persona got beginning with 3, the dev team was tasked with replicating parts of modernsona to help it be some way to capture mainstream audiences. after all, most people’s introductions to megaten will be persona, and as we all know with how journalists were with smt 5 and likely applies to the rest of the franchise due to how different it is, anything megaten that isn’t persona has no heart. with shit like the fate system being forced in, the pacing further deteriorates.

both desu1 and 2 are easy for the most part but require an ungodly amount of grinding just to build your team because money is scarce and everything is overpriced, be it in the auction or the compendium. you need demons with a certain skill and resistances? get grinding. and with what little ways to actually play around with the fusing without grinding because of the stupid add ons and expensive fusion chains and how exp you can get for demons gets significantly harder to obtain, you’re already at a strategic disadvantage. you can’t fuse mitamas without unlocking it after fucking beating the game, and even if you can, fusing elements and mitamas has a fee. this already takes up most of the experience, as this forces most battles to be either free or dlc battles for the sake of resources which ends in being over leveled, and since the ai for enemies and bosses aren’t the best, you’re already at far too great an advantage, so the mandatory combat goes by fast. then the socializing comes in. desu1 is definitely better since it cuts out the bullshit and makes so most of what you’re hearing contributes to the plot, worldbuilding, or actual development for the characters. in 2, the fate ranks affect nothing save for unlocks and maybe the occasional story relevance. you can’t skip this, as most of the options are either free battles, waste 30 in game minutes viewing an event that doesn’t affect any other function, talk with teammates that you swore you’ve seen their archetype done better before, be given info about said character that may or may not actually mean shit based on when you talk to them, have a chance to up their fate rank, and that’s it. not like you have the threat of being unable to. you can prevent anyone in death videos from dying, and there’s no consequences for choosing a route since you can re-recruit everyone except a certain alignment rep if you oppose them, not counting daichi. all that changes is the ending and if an alignment rep dies again not counting daichi. this is all the game is, rinse and repeat.

i’ve never had something simultaneously be worse and better all due to anime tropes and inspiration. it fucking hurts me. 2’s a good game, just way too big and way too focused on capitalizing on persona, neither of which i can fault the team behind it for since it was clearly an issue of ideas and expectations being thrown onto them. maybe one day i’ll power through the final day, but right now, it completely lost me.

if you want to make your game’s main campaign long, justify why it’s that way. if it’s long because of padding without a way to grip the player, your product serves as a way to waste time and money that could’ve been spent on something else.

around then, me, my bf, and our buddies came up with self-inserts of ourselves to fit into a persona universe, except it's entirely its own thing unrelated to the actual games' storylines. we do take more world concepts from p2 than any other game, though, with philemon and nyarlathotep being the bitches they are. my character ended up being winry :D

winry's a normal and innocent college-going gal, or was until she got falsely accused of assaulting a certified creep. it was self defense, but noooo, she's a woman in the year of our lord and savior 1999, nobody caaaares

putting the less important part of her backstory aside though, she's very silly. loves pirating anime, and i'm talking the physical shit. how she gets it? nobody knows...but she can and will force you to watch all of evangelion in a single night. she's very normal about that show.

ofc she's also a persona user! her persona's alice, straight-up the design from SMT and everything. there is a reason for that. and her arcana's death. there's also a reason for that. she likes to fight with a plain-old sword hehe

eventually the concept turned into that of generally just ocs that we'd all rp the storyline for. buuut since we're all busy people that never happened, so the deal's moreso something me and my bf talk about now and again, since winry and niko (their oc) were ofc together...kinda

see, winry's stuck in a time loop. in the first timeline, she and niko were very close friends, perhaps more...until all of a sudden, niko dies soon after a very heated argument. logically, she's convinced it's her fault. so logically, she agrees to turn back the hands of time to find a way to save him. and again. and again...it's an endless loop where her most treasured person dies, over and over...

after that first timeline, she lost her original persona and gains alice instead, forfeiting her fool arcana for death. quite the edgy backstory, but i do like it.

so basically the story's about winry finding a way to save niko, and making other friends along the way! i think about it v much

Oh gosh me ranting about people downplaying Flynn again😅

I feel like I’m insane or something how do so many people not see how broken he is?! I think people who say these kinds of things have never actually even played SMT IV.

Other points I just mentioned in this post rather than previous ones:

Flynn is part of Vishnu-Flynn who was supposed to solo YHVH in his complete state without any allies or demons to help. Considering Flynn absolutely fodderizes Krishna he’s obviously contributing way more than 50% of the fusion’s power. Not to mention Vishnu-Flynn was not complete when you fought him since the fusion was so incredibly unstable you could hit Flynn out of Krishna.

Things people love to leave out when discussing Aleph is the fact he also has allies with him no matter the route he at least has one. His demons and his allies would also be helping him too. From this logic you could reason that Flynn and Aleph are actually very comparable to each other power wise. I know what I’m about to say will sound like peak heresy, but he might actually be stronger than Aleph. I’m not saying substantially I mean just a bit.

The King of Bel gets lots of attention because he was a threat to YHVH. However, he and Demi-Fiend obviously fails because YHVH is STILL around in Apocalypse. The only ones that actually truly kill YHVH are Flynn, Nanashi, and the others. YHVH is dead in SMT V so they canonically killed YHVH. That means the King of Bel even with a bunch of help from his allies like Naoya and co still lost. More heresy I honestly think Flynn and Nanashi must be stronger than him then considering they can beat YHVH with only four people. I mean come on Demi-Fiend had an entire legion of demons with him and Lucifer and still lost.

You can’t even pull the Flynn is just human card because he’s not. The Explosive Pandemic dlc revealed that everyone in Mikado are basically sleeper demons so no that excuse doesn’t work either. Flynn is technically a demon going by his genes. He just doesn’t know it. Hugo specifically calls himself and the people of Mikado “celestial beings” whatever the hell that means. He says something about angel blood, but the difference between angels and demons in SMT is semantics.

If Flynn demon gene activated he would become comedically op because the boost you get is completely cracked:

-Issachar went from a normal dude to fighting four prentice Samurai and their demons at once

-In the Demonic Gene manga where the concept originated Walter went from a complete noob who still uses Centaur to defeating Yaso Magushi (who is a level 46 boss by the way) easily.

-Actual fodder like Hugo and Hope were able to fight Anarchy Nanashi after theirs activated

And…Flynn is way stronger than anyone we’ve ever seen unlock the Demon Gene.

At this point I’ve come around and actually think the only mainline protagonist stronger than Flynn is Nahobino. Also obviously the Last Bible protagonist but that isn’t mainline. Flynn only loses to Nanashi because he literally can’t kill him permanently because he’s immortal duh. How is Flynn supposed to kill someone who can’t die? I definitely think he could kill him once or twice, but Nanashi would eventually wear Flynn down because Flynn has no way to perma kill him unless he killed Dagda or something. Though, I don’t think Flynn would know to do that. Post-bonds though Nanashi is kinda fucked against Flynn since he no longer has his immortality. Overall I think Nanashi using his no death cheat to beat Flynn is cheap af, but it works. Otherwise I definitely think Apocalypse portrays Flynn as being stronger than Nanashi and the latter’s immortality acts as the great equalizer.

this au has taken over my brain i can’t lie

seb’s so supportive of jenson but jenson also knows when to keep his mouth shut lol

he’s not going to tell seb how to do his job, but he will make suggestions if he’s stuck, bc jenson has a different perspective

who knows who wins this season 🤷‍♀️

but i imagine that over summer break, they’re already dating-but-not-dating and thrown off when they’re not seeing each other almost every day

hanna gets sad texts from jenson, wondering if seb is bothering her about him too

but seb is offline whenever he can so there’s radio silence on his end (even if he is feeling the same privately)

so when hanna tells jenson he’s said nothing, secretly jenson thinks he should stop pursuing him, that he’s making him uncomfortable

so when the break is over, jenson still hovers around and stuff, but he’s a little off, spending more time in his own garage or with the other drivers instead

(mark thinks seb rejected him or smt, so he doesn’t push, but he can tell something is off w jenson, just offering him his presence so he doesn’t have to be alone)

and you know, crashes are inevitable

after 2009, jenson was a lot better at compartmentalizing and keeping his personal life and emotions out of the car, so he swears up and down to seb that it wasn’t his fault when they finally talk it out

it’s nothing bad, just crashed into a barrier, but for a second, on the tv, it did not look good

the view of his head was obstructed and he lost his front wheels

on top of that, he was winded enough that he couldn’t reply to hanna right away

so seb is focusing on kimi, telling him there’s a red flag, when he hears hanna yelling at jenson to come in a few seats down

and seb knows the risk of driving. he knows what it’s like to hold his breath and hope is friends are okay, but seb had to grip his seat so hard that his knuckles turned white

when jenson finally replied, out of breath and chest tight, seb felt sm relief and he couldn’t explain why (ofc he could, he’s not dumb just trying to suppress it)

so jenson comes in, gets checked by medical, the races finishes w kimi on the podium (not quite p1, bc ofc susie has it, but close enough that he’s still a contender for the championship)

after everything is all finished for the day, seb wants to talk to him

but bc jenson’s race ended early, he’s already gone

so seb stomps his way up to jenson’s hotel room and knocks on his door

the first thing jenson sees is seb’s angry face and he knows he messed up lol

seb’s yelling at him, trying to understand why he’s been avoiding him (bc deep down he worried that if jenson had died today, he would’ve never known why) and maybe jenson braked too early, and seb is technical. so he’s like “how could you have been so reckless”

and at this point seb is just yelling to get all of his pent up frustration out, even if he’s not saying what he really wants to

but then he notices jenson wincing

and seb, the man with no concept of personal space when it comes to jenson, steps forward and pulls his shirt up

and jenson’s bruised, bc he only crashed a few hours ago

and automatically seb calms down, fingers running gently over the bruises, and just stares silently

jenson reaches out to grab his wrist, just to have an excuse to touch him and tells him “they’re not as bad as they look”

seb just rolls his eyes “well, they look horrible so they must hurt a bit”

and just to antagonize him, he lightly pokes at one of them to watch jenson wince

so seb spends a couple of hours helping jenson take care of the bruises and jenson’s just like “i was cleared by medical” and seb replies “just let me help you”

they fall asleep curled up on jenson’s bed after talking for hours

even if they didn’t get to talking about why jenson was avoiding him, or about their feelings—

everything was gonna be okay
