what is your second most favorite otp from any series?

AAAAAAHHHHH, DON'T DO THIS TO ME! There are some many pairings I love in so many books, movies, series, soap-operas, etc.

*sighs* Okay, gun to my head, there's three, in no particular order that I absolutely ADORE, have made me cry, and that I legitimately don't understand how anyone could watch these shows and not ship them (spoilers for Friends, How I Met Your Mother and The Borgias, respectively)

Monica and Chandler

Because I was just 4-years-old when Friends final season was aired, I already knew these two were going to be endgame when I watched the show - and it didn't take long for me to see the appeal, even when they were still supposed to be just friends.

They're just so affectionate with each other right from the start, cuddling on the couch, helping each other out - and Chandler just casually says stuff like "If neither of us is married when we're fourty, I'm totally willing to marry and have a kid with you just so you get the family you want" and actively tries PROVE to her he is boyfriend material and they make a game out of it??????? Genius. Perfect. Amazing.

And then it happens, they hook up and right away they're couple goals. Can't keep their hands off each other, are super clingy, all of their friends find them ridiculously adorable, Chandler matures A LOT and Monica is very patient with him because she knows he's used to hiding any emotional turmoil behind a sarcastic joke, and they can joke about and tease each other without either of them being too mean or too sensitive.

Also their conflicts never last more than one or two episodes and they never break up after first getting together, and it was a breath of fresh air coming from the same show that gave us Ross and Rachel.

Barney and Robin

They have INSANE chemistry, Robin was the only woman Barney was truly willing to change for, and Barney was the one guy Robin was with that ever truly liked her for who she was.

They. Deserved. So. Much. Better.

Seriously, I can't get over how unfair their ending was. There's a reason I tell Zutarians to give this show a watch before they complain about how their ship, that was never even canon, was "robbed of it's happy ending."

We see Barney and Robin being teased as potentially having at least a fling someday as early as season 1, they finally hook up in season 3, season 4 is all about him struggling with being in love with her, seasons 5-7 are all about them dating then breaking up while still being very much in love yet never properly reconciliating because life gets in the way, season 8 is them getting engaged and being adorably happy together, the 9th and final season is THE WEEKEND OF THEIR WEDDING and them working through every last issue they still have to make sure they will a long, happy life together as a married couple...

Then the finale goes and says "Actually, they divorced off-screen because their hotel room had no wi-fi. Sorry." WHO THE FUCK DOES THAT? It's really no wonder the network cancelled the planned spin-off right after the finale aired.

Cesare and Lucrezia

Ah yes, a Nichya list of great ships includes a pair of siblings, specifically Older Brother X Young Sister, who would have thought? This time a kind of, sort of historical one! (Seriously, The Borgias is the kind of over-dramatic, historically inaccurate period piece I love wasting my time with, and the aesthetic is incredible).

Even as someone who is very into that kind of dynamic and that knew the show was gonna go there, I was still SHOCKED at how unsubtle is right from the start - especially once I found out the writer didn't want to play up the sexual tension originally.

Somehow, the first time we see these two on screen, Lucrezia is spying on her brother as he has sex and once he notices he playfully chases her around the garden, berating her for spying on him AGAIN, and then when they're on the ground together he just casually admits to loving her more than he loves God????????????????????????????? NORMAL SIBLING BEHAVIOR, EVERYBODY! NOTHING WEIRD GOING ON HERE!

I adore how protective (and possessive) Cesare is of her, ready to commit murder at the very thought of a man mistreating her - yet he is still willing to step aside when he thinks she found a good man, because nothing matters to him more than Lucrezia's happiness, not even his own. It just so happens that he always has to step in again because nobody loves her quite to insane degree he does, and thus she only feels truly safe, happy and loved with him, hence her saying "Only a Borgia can truly love a Borgia."

And they, legitimately, are insepareble. They're always close to each other, holding hands, hugging, cuddling, KISSING - all long before they're ready to admit, even to themselves that they're in love.

They are so clueless about what level of physical affection is normal between relatives that they made out in front of her husband and were surprised he found out about their incestuous affair.

And more importantly, thanks to the show being cancelled after season 3 instead of getting the planned fourth season, they never broke up! The show literally ends with them in each other's arms, accepting their love. I couldn't have asked for literally anything else.

Ethan and Claire stood hand in hand on the red carpet, bathed in the soft glow of camera flashes and the chatter of the press. It was their second red carpet event as a couple, and this time, they were more prepared for the spotlight.

Claire wore an elegant, floor-length black gown that glimmered with every step. Ethan couldn't help but admire her grace and beauty. His eyes rarely left her with each step they took. The brilliant doctor beside her wore a dapper, well-tailored white tux.

A reporter greeted them warmly, "Good evening, Claire and Ethan! You both look fantastic. How has life been since your relationship became public?"

Claire smiled brightly, her eyes shining with happiness. "Life's been wonderful. We've been navigating the ups and downs of our different schedules and locations, but we have an amazing support system, and we cherish the moments we have together."

Ethan nodded in agreement, his hand steady and sure on her lower back. "Claire has been a source of inspiration and immeasurable joy in my life."

Okay so I gotta know since I just spent the last few days devouring your fic. Where did the idea of Echo Garden come from? Like why tfp Soundwave and idw Rodimus specifically? Like I'm not complaining. Far from if lolll but I Am burning w/ curiosity

Where did the idea of Echo Garden come from?

Hmm... hard to say it stems from any single specific thing. I wanted to do a TFP SW/MTMTE Rodimus fic and I knew the most logical way to structure it would be to have the LL jump into the TFP universe and for Rodimus to rescue SW from the shadow zone. I had to figure out how to change TFP SW from his canon self to a being that would befriend others and grow to care about his surroundings. And... I can't say I was super inspired by anything in particular. I guess his character arc is kind of like Cyclonus's- Cyclonus even warns him early in the fic that he needs to change in order to survive. Umm... yeah, idk :'D Everything about the story feels logical to me, like we're going on little stepping stones for the story to progress, and that's happening because I've thought about this story Extremely Way Too Much For Years.

The crystal aspect stems from the fact that Soundwave would never jump from emotionless to liking Rodimus. He needed his own character growth, something to be centered around, so he could be an active character and change himself. I was talking to a friend about how SW needed a hobby or something because I didn't want the story to just be centered around the romance - I truly want it to be the story of SW on the LL - and she said crystals were a theme in my writing so why not that? And I said ok, cool. And in thinking about how SW and crystals could relate, I thought of "the meaning of SW" thing.

Like why tfp Soundwave and idw Rodimus specifically?

I'm gonna steal my answer from a time I've been asked this previously:

I've been writing fanfic for a REALLY long time, and all throughout it, I'd never had an OTP. I wrote strictly genfic and felt like part of my brain was missing because everyone around me had pairings and OTPs and absolutely loved them, and I was like "but why. Why tho. Why?" 2015 rolls around, I get exposed to MTMTE, and it's very good, and I feel that dreadful pull in my veins that says you're gonna create shit for this. You're gonna be in this fandom. And sure enough, OTPs everywhere ×D So! I decided to Make A List of Ridiculous OTPs that 1) made fun of the idea overall, 2) made fun of me for not understanding it. I paired a bunch of characters that had no business being together [I'm trying to jam as many of them into "The Echo Garden" as possible. There's the main pairing, Nautica/Blaster, a hint of Bluestreak/Hot Spot, and of course, Mirage/Skywarp]. I paired some of them based on colors, others on outlier abilities, and others just Because It Didn't Make Sense (And I Think That's Funny). I forget exactly why I wrote a Mirage/Skywarp fic, but at some point I did a pwp of them, and to my utter surprise, people wanted to know why they got together. Well! I had no idea. I thought I was Doing OTPs Right, but apparently they needed backstories. So, I did a huge fucking longass fic of why Mirage and Skywarp were together and it broke me. Transformers finally fucking got me. I fell in love with the characters, and with their love for each other, and for the first time I had an OTP! ;A;

When I finished that Mirage/Skywarp fic, and after the comics ended, I actually had a canon way for TFP SW and MTMTE Rodimus to meet [canon compliance is something I'm personally into - as much as possible - for long fics]. I didn't feel like I was ready for such a complicated idea, but I had finished a longass fic, so I was as ready as I was ever gonna be. I posted it with MUCH nervousness and fully expected it to be read by 2 people. I was really shocked by the reception ×D And incredibly grateful for it. I'm not sure if I could make it through the past few years and write this fic without the comments <3 tl;dr I paired them cuz they're pretty and then canon said it could feasibly happen and Transformers broke me so I cared about them.

Clearly he senses his future fate if he does not - TWICE has an ex's wife found old embarrassingly insipid love letters 😖 and pictures from the dating days 😑 and thinks we're so cuuuuttttteeeeeeeee while we struggle to recover and burn the evidence. (do u think she will let us? no!) (I still attest that is cruel & inhumane to hold one accountable for the cringe behavior of our teens & 20s) (this should in theory be 2 against 1 but somehow it never works out that way 🤔) I'm just saying, Alan dodged a bullet there. I saw one of those pics involved whimsical face painting.

"I have no idea if I do what I do because I love it or I just don't know how to do anything else." Jim, stop being THE MOST RELATEABLE challenge. Impossible.

Wen is offered a promotion to move for a new project. Luckily he's not in his early 20s struggle era anymore, so the guy doesn't need to upend his life just to chase the money. (best part of turning 30 fr)

Liked that there was no need to create drama & suspense around it. It was made pretty clear in the narrative that though lack of money makes life harder... nephew Li Ming doesn't regret not choosing to live with his more financially stable relatives and Gaipa doesn't have to work an office job just because he got a bachelor's degree. Prioritze yourself and whatever happiness mean to you. And Wen isn't in dire straits, he's just fine.

Refreshing, actually. It's become a drama cliche that some character gets a promotion offer and it's like they have no other options than having to abandon everything to chase that pay check. It's just not true. The whole point of getting yourself to a solid place where you'd even get an offer like that is that you don't have to take it. To have the luxury of making choices out of desire, not desperation.

Lil food truck now, just Jim & Wen. Smaller footprint. And endearing straight boy Leng still stops by to catch up.

We even get a family dinner night and public admittance of boyfriend status!

🚨ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED. 🚨

Though honestly, like in Lighter & Princess, by this point it's a forgone conclusion. They've been showing their love & caring for each other for a long time, through actions & affection.

Nephew going to America to accompany his wealthy university student boyfriend is a MUCH better plan lbr.

ex Alan: "This is Wen, my friend." awwwwww ❤

He has no choice now, he WILL be assimilated.

Jim/Wen was my primary interest here so I'm glad they included a long epilogue showing us how Jim did the official boyfriend ask, as a last scene. With some incredibly sexy & tender making-out. Cause I'm otp trash. HE FIXED THE METAPHOR. I knew u could do it, babygirl. That dvd was never broken, it just needed a new player.

ONE PIECE AND FAVORITE CHARACTER bc honestly I can't tell :/ /j

*noisily drags a chair across the floor and plops down* oh you want to hear about Uta?? OK! :)

How I feel about this character: where do I even begin... she is a beautiful and powerful force of nature. I don't think I've ever latched onto a character this fast in my entire life. She's so.... real to me. Her love and her pain just cut right through me and I want nothing more than to leap through the screen and give her the biggest hug. She's everything.

All the people I ship romantically with this character: I don't have a ton of ships for her, but I looooooooove her and Perona together. Their personalities just work so well together and I could see them bringing out the best (and sometimes the worst) in each other. I've also grown partial to Nami, Ace, and Sanji potentially working out in some way.

My non-romantic OTP for this character: Uta x Therapy I want to see Uta perform with Brook soooooooo bad, I think they'd be such fast friends and make incredible music together. I also think Robin would be a good friend to her. I think their pasts have some similarities and they'd be able to really lean on each other.

My unpopular opinion about this character: She isn't dead :) she is alive and working on her relationship with her dad :) this is a fact :) Also, my mind can't wrap my head around shipping her and Luffy together. I just can't.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I just need more of her! Her character is technically canon even though the movie isn't and parts of the movie are starting to come through to the manga so like.... there's a chance here. (also the wiki very distinctly says that her status is "unknown" so..... )

my het ship: difficult to say... let's go with AceUta. I just feel like their personalities would make for a great slow burn.

my fem/slash ship: PeroUta! thought I really like NamiUta too (Nami gets all the girls to me)

my OTP: UtaWurm. obviously :3

my OT3: SanWurmUta. we're married and in love.

my kink: *twirls hair* Soft dom for sure, she'll give you all the praise in the world as long as you work for it. Likes to call you "kitten" and send you spicy videos and pictures when you're away (and maybe film a little together so she can watch back while touring). She can be a bit bratty at times if she's feeling competitive or wants some extra attention.

a head cannon fact: she's the type to keep a little box under her bed of happy memories. she's got a tea blend for every mood and will always offer you a cup. strawberries are her favorite fruit and she always smells like them.

favorite thing about them

he's my most favoritest guy. i love him. if like .03% of the things that had happened to him happened to me i'd be out there murdering bitches or something and he's still just out here being a nice friendly guy who tries his best for the ship and for other people. like sometimes they do a rly good job of making it clear that there's this very deep well of resolve to him and he is an incredibly hard person to break despite experiencing the horrors so so so often. BUT i also love it when he's unhinged like he absolutely deserves to get to go off the rails sometimes. and i like it when he's making little petty comments he deserves that too.

least favorite thing about them

i mean we all know this but he's SO fucked over by the writers/showrunners. there's literally no reason for the no promotion/left out of major storylines/frequently sidelined in favor of other characters deal except some like. racist bullshit. writers will be like "well we just don't think he's an interesting character" bitch then make him interesting lol that's your job.

brOTP

harry and b'elanna literally the single most important dynamic in the show to me. every episode that they don't have a scene together i think about committing unfathomable acts of violence. i really enjoy that they genuinely feel like friends who care tremendously about each other (although i wish we saw them hanging out more off duty or in the mess hall or whatever).

also like idk if it's a brotp because they're not like Bros but the harry and janeway dynamic makes me feel uhh vaguely insane. now that you're here someone can understand what i mean when i say it's kind of the inverse of picard and wesley in a lot of ways lmao.

OTP

honestly i cannot deny the weird gay thing he and tom have going on. with tom and b'elanna i can be like yeah she deserves better but a) he's usually better to harry than b'elanna because the writers don't seem to know how to write romantic storylines without some bullshit and b) it lowkey doesn't matter if harry deserves better because regardless of my opinions they just Do Have a weird and compelling fucked up gay thing. the chute literally exists.

also my beloved friend @aberfaeth who was my source of voy knowledge before i started watching voy is a ptk enthusiast and i like. very much see that in some arrangement i like whatever they've all got going on

nOTP

uhhh. hm. i dont know that i have one in terms of things that people actually ship? i am very not fond of the show's trend of giving him like tall blonde traditionally (western) beautiful women as like short term love interests that we're clearly supposed to assume he has absolutely no chance with because he's a lame nerd. in a vacuum him always going for like women that fit a specific mold of Hot Girl that he basically never actually has chemistry with would give comphet but i do think in this case it's far more representative of, again, the racist bullshit and it being very clear that they don't see him as being a viable romantic option.

i have not been rotating him in my mind long enough to have a ton of these but i do very much stand by my harry and b'elanna undefeatable battle bots build team headcanon

unpopular opinion

im not immersed enough in the voy ecosystem enough to know what opinions are popular tbh but i do think any headcanon that has harry like pining after tom is simply not a correct interpretation of events imo

R: Which friendship/platonic relationship is your favorite in fandom? GIBSON AND GORO ARE SO IMPORTANT TO ME!!!! despite their history there was never any lingering hostility or anything between them. they respected each other so much and took so much inspiration from one another and grew as people because of it. like gibson had been so arrogant and almost selfish in his debut eps but he transformed thanks to goro's influence and became such a humble and selfless person like even when he was dying he never put himself first. it was all about keeping his promise to goro, and making up for lost time with junior, and upholding the pride of his country, even if it meant putting his life on the line to do so. and in the last arc of season 5 we saw how he touched the hearts of fans all around the world with his resolve and i think it's so so beautiful

@superpixie42 you just happened to pick my favorite of the Sailor Senshi for this ask! I am VERY happy to answer some questions about one of my favorite Mako-chans! (Tachibana Makoto from Free! is the other 😂) I pulled out my SM manga for this one for the first time in a LONG time 🥰

Favorite thing about them

Makoto is a walking antithesis. She is tall, and fierce, and it's rumored that she was kicked out of her previous school for fighting. The other girls are intimidated by her, but it's Usagi who sees something more in Makoto, and she's right to do so. Makoto IS tall, and strong, and fierce, but she's also loving, and nurturing, and protective. She loves her friends. She's a fabulous cook. And she will do ANYTHING to protect her friends and do her just duty. I love Makoto's ability to show her power in one moment, and her vulnerability in the next. Her size (she cannot fit into the regular girls' uniform) is a source of anxiety for her, even though the other girls (Usagi especially) admire her and find her incredibly beautiful AND strong. She should have more confidence in herself, because she's amazing!

Least favorite thing about them

See above: I wish that Makoto had more confidence in herself. Like lean into that majesty, girl!

Favorite line

To Asamuna, when they are talking about Asamuna's suspicions that Makoto and her friends have special powers (and this is from the manga): "I've finally found the understanding friends I've always been searching for. I cherish them more than anything else."

brOTP

Tenou Haruka. I adore Haruka too, because she's powerful, comfortable in her skin and in her identity, and dngaf about others. Makoto could use some of Haruka's confidence, and I love the idea of them hanging out together, being that kind of positive influence that Makoto desperately needs. I can totally see them going out on the town together, Haruka taking Makoto shopping, and telling her that she looks beautiful in everything. It would be so fun and cute!

OTP

Oh my gosh, I love Asumuna for her--he is so sweet, and wants desperately to protect her. Makoto deserves someone who adores her, and Asumuna does just that. And I was rereading those scenes in the manga as I've been answering these, and they are WONDERFUL. But just to drop this in as an idea--Ami would be a great match for Makoto too! Hard-working and largely self-sufficient, Ami also needs the kind of love that Makoto would be able to provide for her (I'm getting all misty thinking about it).

nOTP

I know that we're supposed to pair the Inner Senshi with Endymion's guardians, and that Makoto often gets paired with Nephirte, but I really want her with someone with whom she can really tap into that nurturing side, and I think there are better options for her out there. (Plus, poor Makoto has had enough angst in her life--she really deserves the best 💚)

Random headcanon

We all know Usagi thinks Makoto makes incredible food, but the person who Makoto really loves to cook for is Ami. Ami's mother works long hours, and Ami is busy attending cram school and studying, and she doesn't have a lot of time to eat healthy foods. Makoto sees this, and always takes the time to make sure that Ami is eating properly, whether it be a bento at lunch, or inviting her over for dinner.

Unpopular opinion

I don't really like that Takeuchi puts poor Makoto in a different uniform all for the sake of heightening poor Makoto's feelings of difference. Like I want to see her own that she has to wear something different! She's the precursor to Luisa Madrigal in a lot of ways, and deserves to get to be just as badass.

Favorite thing about roleplaying?

getting to be here, doing this, with all of you. with vash particularly, it's incredibly fucking refreshing to have castmates, a roster whose writers all care so deeply about their muses & what we can get up to together. not used to that, or all the benefits that's come with.

early-on due to sour experiences i'd resolved not to try and connect with any rp partners ever again, but i'm glad i ended up breaking that vow to meet you all, and i don't regret that for a second.

even now i check up on everyone's blogs daily bc im always hungry to see more writing from everyone, even if its stuff i don't have a hand in. i've really loved getting to meet all of you, to write with you, to learn about you, and i'm always excited to see reserves come in, too. it's humbling. it's been a dear experience to me and i hope i've been conveying as much

there's only so much precious time we're given. this won't last forever. so long as i'm not hurting anyone or letting anyone get hurt for it, i'll gladly choose to spend it having fun, thrilling and entertaining others, making someone feel something they needed to feel, involving people where i can. i'm grateful for all the good memories we're making together, and happy that i'll look back on them fondly.

Four ships:

Bering and Wells - my forever OTP. Look, I am not a fandom-socialized person. I didn't know about ships and OTPs and all of that. All I know is that I saw them together and I loved them. Instantly and unconditionally. I loved them in a way I'd never felt about any pairing on screen or page before, or since. So when I go on in this list, the distance between them and the next entry is basically astronomical.

Kathryn Janeway and Beverly Crusher, and it's all @ussjellyfish 's fault (affectionate).

Jadzia Dax and Lenara Kahn. "Rejoined" broke my heart, and I want them together. Rabidly want them together.

Jadzia Dax and Kira Nerys. They were a surprise ship, but I'm glad I found them! I even wrote a little fic for them!

(edited to add: bad reading comprehension here, whoops! Anywho, have this fifth of four anyway:) Deanna Troi and Will Riker. Long before I knew what shipping was, I adored their story, both in the show and in the novels ("Imzadi" is so good, in so many ways). They are my go-to het ship; I'm 💯 sure they're open to all kinds of polyamory and fun sexytimes and shenanigans with all consenting interested parties, and they just support and love each other in the best, maturest way possible. They're also my go-to for "we weren't right for each other then, but we're right for each other now", which is a criminally underused trope! (See also Pete and Amanda from W13.)

First ever ship: as explained above, Bering and Wells or Troi/Riker, depending on your definition.

Last song: listen. I'm incredibly, impossibly impressionable. You even just so much as mention a song that I know, and hey presto, it's in my ears. Earlier this morning it was the Cat Bus Song from Totoro. Right now, due to a post on my dash, it's Carol of the Bells. In five minutes' time, it might be anything.

Last film: watched The Eternals on Friday. Was thoroughly unimpressed. A few good ideas, and some good acting (and I love love love that we got a female Asian lead), but yeah nah, that didn't hit the spot for me. Can't wait to see the new Death on the Nile though!

Currently reading: novels? I can't. Like, seriously, I'm burned out for reading stories that don't have characters that I know. So at the moment, fan fic. Since the last two years, really. Like, I got Priory of the Orange Tree lying right there, but I can't. I finished Gideon the Ninth and hated it. (I know many people love it and that's fine with me, but I. Just. Couldn't.) So, I'm making my way through the Sanvers Big Bang fics, and through other fics I'm randomly finding, and that's it. Loved Roadie's Mermaid fic.

Currently watching: I'm slowly making my way through Xena. Never really watched it in any consecutive or deliberate fashion, and am doing so now. I'm at the beginning of season 2.

Currently consuming: uh... like in food? Delivery Kung Pao (my beloved). We live in the 'burbs, and it's damn hard to find good delivery food here, but there's one place that has both good sushi and good other Asian dishes. They're one town over, though, so you need to order a lot with them to make the minimum amount they drive out for. So my wife and I often order sushi for that night, and then a non-sushi meal to eat the next day. And 9 times out of 10, it's kung pao for me and fried rice for the wife. And so when my wife was out (friend's b-day party) on Friday, I got that exact delivery for myself (including her fried rice for Saturday). And I still got some kung pao left! So that's what I'll have once I'm done with this post! 😁

Jac Naylor!

- Why I like them: She's just an excellent character. Really complex and fascinating. Plus she's beautifully acted by Rosie Marcel, and I also just love seeing a female character who isn't good at emotional stuff or social stuff, because you don't see that often.

- Why I don't: She can be quite cruel and manipulative sometimes.

- Favourite episode: I haven't seen as much of her earlier stuff as I'd like, so I'll go for S21E36 "The Perfect Storm" (the Darwin special). She was just excellent in that episode. She's also at her best in S09E48 "Trial and Retribution" (the speech she gives Joseph about him wanting to see her as a victim and feel sorry for her is incredible).

- Favourite season: Again, not seen as much of her earlier stuff as I'd like, so I don't feel like I can pick one here.

- Favourite line: The aforementioned S09E48 speech to Joseph:

Joseph: Doesn’t matter what you say, I wouldn’t wish sexual assault on my worst enemy.

Jac: No, Joseph. That is a downright lie. Alan Clooney trying to rape me… that makes you feel good!

Joseph: That’s an appalling thing to say!

Jac: ‘Cause it turns me into a victim, doesn’t it? And if I’m a victim, then you can feel sorry for me. And you like that! If you can put me in a pigeonhole, the world falls into place. You can feel strong again. Your bleeding-heart sympathy reinforces the great Bryne sense of moral righteousness. You feel powerful. Just like Alan Clooney wanted to feel powerful. Frankly, when you think of it like that… you and Alan? You’re pretty much the same.

- Favourite outfit: That grey pantsuit she wore a couple months back was great.

I also liked the long red dress she wore in S21E01, and her suit at Mr. T and Inga's wedding in S19E13 was iconic. There are probably more Jac outfits I love - they pick some great clothes for her, they really do - but I can't think of them right now.

- OTP: I liked her with Kian up until they ruined that. Now, IDK. But I am fond of Jac/Connie. Jac/Zosia is cool too.

- BroTP: Jac & Sacha, obviously. But I also adore her friendship with Henrik, for obvious reasons. I loved her mentorship of Nicky, too.

- Headcanon: Does it count that I have accepted Rosie Marcel's headcanons about Jac and Connie having slept together? Lol.

If that doesn't count, then: I headcanon her as genderqueer, but not necessarily in the nonbinary sense like I headcanon Henrik or Ollie as, moreso in the umbrella-term "complicated relationship with gender" sense. I'd call her a genderqueer cis woman.

I have a number of headcanons relating to her friendship with Henrik, unsurprisingly. Particularly, I'm convinced she knows he's autistic but has never brought it up because she just assumes he doesn't want to tell people. (Little does she know he has not, in fact, figured it out yet and could actually really do with her bringing it up. 😂)

- Unpopular opinion: Okay, she's not Parent Of The Year because none of the Holby characters are, but why do both the show and the fandom seem to have this idea that she's the worst parent at the hospital or something? Fletch is much worse, and then there's Henrik and I mean... we all know how THAT turned out. Why don't either of them get hate for being neglectful parents? (Rhetorical question. I know it's misogyny.) (I was also going to say "get hate for, or be punished by the show for" but to be fair Henrik very much was punished by the show for it. Fletch, though... we're supposed to think Fletch is the best dad ever and he's never really held accountable for his mistakes and I can't stand it.)

Similarly, people generally give Jac way too much hate for things other characters are allowed to get away with. Even when something Jac does or says is completely out of character and obviously the product of bad writing, people still use it as an excuse to hate her, and it's unfair. Obviously it's fine for people to dislike her, but she seems to be held to much higher standards than other characters are.

- A wish: For her to get her happy ending. Preferably, for her to get a happy ending now, move to Casualty in a few years (having retrained like Connie), stay on Casualty for a while, then get another happy ending.

Also, I want her to be explicitly confirmed as bi. And if she moves to Casualty I want her to have a proper romance with a woman.

- An oh-god-please-don't-ever-happen: They had BETTER not kill her off.

- 5 words to best describe them: I'm not very good at these things. Can I say "really badass bisexual heart surgeon"? That's a 5-word descriptor, surely it counts... 😂

- My nickname for them: Don't have one, lol.

Ok, so I haven't been able to comment much on my Riverdale rewatch mostly bc i'm watching it with my boyfriend and we have an agreement of no cell phones when we're watching, otherwise we can't pay proper attention to it. But I wrote down some notes about the episodes I did watch (I watched up until ep 6, which is very ironic bc apparently today is its anniversary, so yay for my perfect timing). I actually remember most of the stuff that happened in s1, so here's mostly a few things I paid more attention to or noticed about the characters and the ships, or things i'm able to look at through a different view now that i've watched all the seasons. Strap in if you want to see my notes, if not just scroll please, no ship or character hate here please. Also, feel free to ignore, this is really just a personal look in some stuff I didn't notice in my first watch.

- Betty's character used to be much happier and lighter in season 1. I know we're introduced to "Dark Betty" right in episode 3, but still, I feel like the way Lili played Betty in season 1 did not hold the same "darkness" as it does in the following seasons. The scene where she is dancing happily in her bedroom because she's going to homecoming with the boy she likes? The scene where she introduces Jughead to the Blue & Gold and gets him to work with her? Her genuine innocent happiness at seeing her sister again after so much time? The way she interacted with Kevin and Veronica? Those were all chef's kiss because she actually feels like a teenager in them. In all her girly glory, she radiates youth energy and it's a thing that was sadly lacking after s1. Btw this is not a critique at Lili's acting at all, I blame it entirely on Ras and his obsession with dark Betty.

- There's actually so many indications of Cheryl being a lgbt character in the first episodes that I have no idea how I missed it the first time. But then again, there were many indications with Veronica as well, and sadly that's not the path Ras chose for her.

- Jughead in s1 is truly so superior in so many ways that it's not hard to see why he quickly became such a fan favorite. I think even if he wasn't played by Cole Sprouse, he still would have conquered many fans' hearts. Sadly, the things that made Jughead such a loving and interesting character for me also fizzled out in s2 when the writing team decided to make him a woke serpent leader instead of allowing him to sticking to his true personality as a passionate mystery lover, a dedicated friend and very nerdy, which was very cute. I feel that we got some of that back for him in s4, which was good, but sadly s1 is where my love for him really stayed to stay. But I still care for him, and s5 has a promising storyline for him which i'm excited about, so let's see if s5 Jughead can become better than s1 Jughead.

- Going back again to Cheryl for a sec, I just noticed that the red lipstick actually wasn't that common for her in s1? At least not in the first five. I wonder when did it start becoming her trademark? Anyways, it's actually a really good look her and allows you to appreciate Madelaine's natural beauty even more.

- Also, did anybody notice how Alice lowkey figured out who killed Jason in ep 2 lmao, like... in episode two she legit says she wouldn't be surprised if the Blossoms themselves had killed Jason, which... is what happened LMAO, considering we know it was his father. And even more hilarious and tragically ironic note, in ep 6 she's laughing at Betty suggesting that Hal killed Jason because "do you think your father has the stomach for it?!"... Ma'am... i'm-.... 😂😂😂😂.

- This rewatch has reminded me of how much I adored and how I much I miss Josie and the Pussycats. The girls were such a nice addition to the cast, and their songs were so beautiful. I truly wish we get to see them again someday, but at the same time I also think the actresses deserve to be at a work place where they're given the treatment they deserve and not completely ignored and treated like extras.

- Archie/Valerie was super cute and is very underrated in the fandom, but i'm glad Valerie stood up for herself and didn't take any of Archie's or Cheryl's sh*t. Still sucks because they were really good together, though.

- Why was Jason not allowed to talk, lmao? Like, i'm sure it's become a running joke in the show at this point, but back when season one was airing what was the excuse for it? He appeared in so many flashbacks and scenes and we still never heard a single word ☠️☠️☠️☠️. I just want to know what was the reason lol.

- I liked s1 Reggie, but I feel like Charles Melton's Reggie is better because he actually feels like a douche with good intentions lol, and he has more of a personality. Most of the time I even forgot about Reggie in s1, but after s2 he definitely made me more aware of him. So for that, I like Charles Melton's Reggie more. But the actor from s1 still did a good job with what he was given.

From now on I will be talking about the ships, so bear with me, and know that I am a multishipper. Yes, I have my preferences. No, my word is not law, it's just an opinion, so please respect it.

- Bughead is still super cute in s1. I feel like from s1 they will always be my otp, even if I no longer feel as strongly about them now and have a different insight as to where I would like their story to go, and now I definitely see the problem others had mentioned before of how they kind of took over the show, which is something I kind of closed my eyes to before... But I really loved them in s1. It felt like a very juvenile teenage relationship, they didn't give much thought on why and if they should be together, they just went for it like teenagers usually do, and they were very very cute together.

- I feel like if you don't count Beronica (because they really were the best no matter what you say or ship), if there's a ship that deserves "best chemistry" award for s1 is probably Varchie. I lost my interest in them years ago, but this rewatch reminded me of why I actually loved them once. They never really became an otp for me, but Kj and Camila's chemistry in s1 was VERY GOOD, and I really liked them. Their kiss in the pilot was electric and the s&xual tension was OOF, and that chemistry carries on through the season. You can easily tell something will happen between them eventually. It makes me sad bc I don't know what happened after s1, but their chemistry from s2 onwards was just... not there for me. Which is ironic bc it's the season they truly started dating and they got a lot of smexy scenes, but I just... didn't feel it. But I'll leave that comment to my s2 rewatch. For now just let me enjoy Varchie's chemistry in s1 while it lasts because it was really good.

- Now we get to Barchie, who I made clear was the reason for my rewatch, so let's get to it. I LOVED the way Barchie was written in s1. I remember when I first watched Riverdale, I was curious about their dynamic but didn't put much thought into it because I loved Bughead too much and wanted them to be together, and I thought Barchie would be the traditional "first og ship" thing and wouldn't have a big follow up, but boy was I WRONG and am I GLAD for it. I'll talk more about their development in the next seasons when I get there, so for now let's focus a bit on s1. Just in like the first two episodes, there is so much Barchie foreshadowing, like, it's legit insane how it was right there in my face and I missed it the first time! "I have never felt what i'm supposed to feel with betty", "it's not my fault he doesn't like you", "I can't give you the answer you want"... Omg, those are obvious eyebrow raising "this will come back to bite you in the a$$" moments and it's incredible how they actually DO! I would call it clever writing, but like... it's Riverdale lol. So I really am just glad that the ship was done this way, i'm glad Barchie has the back story that they do, they've really come a LONG way and i'm happy I get to experience their whole growing storyline. It's also especially good because s1 actually provides you with scenes that show you their friendship and how they're so close, you see them hanging out, talking, their pictures together, everything was just really done well with them. Still have a bit of critique with the way Archie contradicted himself sometimes regardinf his feelings for Betty, but let's be honest, we've watched enough Riverdale to know that's just a problem with the writing.

- Kevin/Joaquin is still my favorite Kevin ship, i'm sad it's completely impossible to go back to them someday so for now i'll just be really glad it existed and that I got to see them even if it was short-lived. They had great chemistry and their kiss scenes always outsold.

- Beronica... sigh. Beronica. The most wasted chemistry i've ever seen on CW and I've watched a LOT of CW shows. There was so much potential there, s1 was practically overflowing with them and it's one of the reasons it became some popular. I remember when the Beronica fandom was the biggest one, ah, good times. Veronica and Betty were easily the best part of season 1, their friendship, their lowkey romantic moments, they were just superior in every way. This ship deserved better, not even just as a ship, but as a friendship.

- Veronica's s1 hair >>> Veronica's hair in seasons 2-4. I loved the side part and I am glad it's back in season 5, it looks so much better like that.

- Cheryl, as always, deserves better. Can't wait for her to meet Toni so I can watch again Cheryl finally get to love someone and be loved back, which is exactly what she deserves.

For now, that is all! I will probably make another post soon when i'm done with season one and from season two on I will be live-blogging the episodes since I will be watching it alone. Once again, pls, no hate, my thoughts are my thoughts. Peace.

Oh boy oh boy here we go

In case you can't tell by my million posts about how much I work, I'm really terrible at taking time for myself and being able to reason with myself that it's okay to take breaks and that I'm not being lazy if I'm not overworking myself. That's where Kiri comes in. He's incredibly busy too, don't get me wrong! But he always tries to remind me that I'm not obligated to pick up extra shifts just because someone asked, even if my schedule technically allows for it. And when I am working day after day for long hours, he'll do little things for me to help me be able to rest faster once I'm home. It's small, domestic chores like laundry, washing dishes, making dinner, paying bills, etc. but it's still one less thing I have to worry about. He's the bestest ever ugh.

That being said, with the differences in what we do for work it may not be uncommon for us to end up on opposite schedules. I typically have work early in the morning into early in the evening, while Kiri may end up having to take on night patrols for a while. When this happens, especially when it has to be for many weeks in a row, we'll both make an effort to try to clamber into bed together and just hold each other, even if it's just for a few minutes. Grocery shopping dates every week are a must. We always go grocery shopping together because it's something that has to get done, but it's always better when we're with each other. Kiri always insists on pushing the cart while I walk beside him with my arm looped through his. He also reaches anything we need off of the top shelves, so having him to grocery shop with is as helpful as it is enjoyable

Okay so Fire Emblem anon here!! Here's a Kinda Super Long Bc I Got Carried Away description of a few Fire Emblem games, plus some characters that seem like they hit tropes you like!

The good news is that there's not a super huge overarching timeline, there's several smaller timelines that are seperate from one another except for the crossover games. I'm gonna go with describing the newer ones that you're most likely to be able to get your hands on and play; a lot of people complain that they lean into some anime-tropey stuff and are too easy, but tbh, that's a perk just as often as it isn't. Basically, it's Game of Thrones, but rated T and with more cute girls and old men who are friendly instead of creepy.

Tbh, it's a turn-based strategy game with visual novel elements for characterization, if strategy games aren't your thing and you're just interested in the characters, watching the support conversations on Youtube might be more your thing. All the characterization, none of the resetting the same goshdang level thirty times. Anyways, description of the games in passing, including a brief description of the plot concept, pros and cons, trigger warnings, and some characters you might be interested in if you're just looking up characters.

Awakening: for the 3DS. Follows Robin, an amnesiac mage, after they're found in a field by a band of knights called the Shepherds. Involves the undead, a twink in a mask, timey-wimey shenangians, and the usual cast of oddballs you'd expect from a Fire Emblem game.

Pros of Awakening: customizable player character, intro of Casual mode (turns off permadeath) and the Pair Up system, which lets you put characters together for shipping reasons strategy and stat boosts. Also doubles as a shipping simulator, since you can pair off characters and meet their later in the game due to said timey-wimey shenangians.

Cons of Awakening: there are some....very concerning combos of names/skin tones/plot relevance for certain characters, so go in with a warning about implicit racism. Also if you like strategy games, this game is relatively easy to break and make "too easy," but tbh that's what Lunatic Mode (the Ultra Unfair Hard Mode) is for.

Trigger warnings across the main plot: underhanded politics, attempted assassinations, martyrdom, an optional character is implied to stalk Robin but idk how to tag that, identity crises, conflicts within a family, character who isn't you looks like you, backstory child abuse, an optional character is a bad portrayal of DID if you squint?

Fates: is actually a group name for two games set in the same universe, and a DLC bonus story: Birthright, Conquest, and Revelations. All for the 3DS. All three games star Corrin, a pacifist raised in seclusion in the kingdom of Nohr. Each game reflects a different path Corrin can take in navigating the war between the nations of Nohr and Hoshido: Birthright has them stand with Hoshido, Conquest with Nohr, and Revelations has them strike out (nearly) alone. Each path has a completely different storyline, cast of characters, and difficulty curve.

Pros of Fates: honestly, the characters here cater the most to the avid pro-shipper and multi-shipper. I just love this cast. Both Nohr and Hoshido have four members of the royal family you can play and get to know, each of those royal family members has two retainers who are various levels of dedicated and/or unhinged, and the cast just widens and widens. Also a character customization and shipping simulator point for the same reasons Awakening gets it. Also, canon fujoshi rights (there's a character with a skill called Daydream, which boosts her stats when two male characters are paired up near her. one of us, one of us). Also the first game with canon queer characters: both Rhajat and Niles are bi.

Cons of Fates: unfortunately, the writing is kinda rushed or badly translated in some places. Also *shakes IntSys* my lore! Give me more lore! Also, iirc, you could get both physical games in a bundle for a discount when they came out, but not anymore, so it's sorta like Pokemon with version exclusives. Which is less fun, since you can't directly trade characters. Also the fandom for this game is RIFE with discourse, which is kinda sad bc I just wanna talk my ships with ppl sjxhdjdn

Trigger warnings for Fates: child abuse might as well be Nohr's middle name, in-universe racism (since Hoshido is p obviously Japan-inspired, and a lot of Nohrians are rancid to Hoshidans), kidnapping, on-screen murder, lots of fighting your loved ones (on both main routes, you gotta fight the playable characters from the other side AAA), su-c-de, death of sibling(s) in certain routes, demonic-like possession, there's like six characters people can read as bad mental illness rep, Niles especially is discourse bait for being a kinky (yes that's canon) bi man of color but also he's awesome so die mad antis

Shadows of Valentia: for the 3DS. A remake of Gaiden, the second game in the series. Follows Alm, a farm boy from a small village in Zofia, and Celica, his childhood best friend. Zofia and the nation to its north, Rigel, are two nations ruled by the dragon gods Mila and Duma, respectively. Normally, they're in equilibrium, but Rigel is invading and Mila is missing, prompting Alm and Celica to independently investigate the problem.

Pros of SoV: the most like the old-school Fire Emblem games, but it also has the permadeath-off mode. also the first to be fully voice acted! The art style is gorgeous, and the plot was polished up from the old game--two characters names Berkut and Rinea were added, and they are PEAK OTP the diskhorse can die mad. Also the cast is pretty fun all around, from buddy squad and the older brother/dad figure they adopted along the way to "hello this is my gang of childhood friends, we're gonna kill a god" Also introduces Mila's Turnwheel, which lets you rewind your moves if you realize you goofed big time and screwed yourself over.

Cons of SoV: has the most references to other games, but you won't, like, be lost if you don't get them. You just might have a few interludes of "who tf is Camus/the White Wing Brigade/etc" but it's easy enough to look up on the wiki. Also tbh, the plot kinda drags in the middle, there's some filler battles to try and make it feel more realistic and it feels...weird. Also no custom character, you are Alm and Celica and you will Like It.

Trigger warnings for SoV: you know that thing where a girl character gets killed off for a guy character to angst over? the game starts with a fakeout version of that. also a character slowly goes mad over the course of the plot (but it's really well done imo?), there's some self-sacrifice stuff in there, classism is a major theme, possession/selling your soul™, there's a couple of levels where you're exploring tombs/prisons, I'm sure there's something else but I'm forgetting right now

Three Houses: on the Switch. The newest game in the series, and the most polished imo? Stars Byleth, a wandering mercenary turned teacher at the Officer's Academy. The Academy, housed in Garreg Mach Monastery, teaches youths from across the land of Fodlan how to be warriors, commanders, and knights. Students are sorted into three houses based on their country of origin: the Black Eagles are from ghe Adrestian Empire, led by the heiress-apparent Edelgard; the Blue Lions are from the kingdom of Faerghus, led by prince Dimitri; and the Golden Deer are from the Leicester Alliance, led by Claude, grandson of the Duke. You choose one of these houses to lead, and then everything quickly goes sour.

Pros of Three Houses: It's such a rich experience! The music is incredible, there's so much lore, and you can wander around the Monastery and hang out with the students to your heart's content. Also, it's four storylines for the price of one, even if they're all relatively similar in the first half. It does a pretty solid job of weaving together its themes into a satisfying narrative that will make you consider everyone involved. Also we got our first bi main lord (Edelgard) and non-white main lord (Claude is mixed race) in one fell swoop! Also, given the setting, it's teacher/student ship heaven.

Cons of Three Houses: just gonna come right out and say it: one of the villainous factions in the game is pretty substantially tied up with some anti-semitic tropes. There's no way to ignore it, it's just bleh, and I'm not gonna send anyone in without that warning. Also, though there's some characters you can persuade to switch sides, or spare, there's no route where there's a happy ending for everyone. Also there are so many people who are fake deep about the themes of the game, so be ready for the worst takes imaginable about your faves. also super trigger heavy, see below.

Trigger warnings: MANY. Garreg Mach and the Church of Seiros are very reminiscent of catholic religious stuff, for anyone with religion triggers, blood in cutscenes, death of a parent, death of a sibling (different characters), major gaslighting vibes in some places, lots of people going unhinged, some white savior™ vibes in places, body horror, creepy ass weaponry, backstory genoc-de (mostly not related to the anti-semitism), blood magic (definitely related to the anti-semitism), in general it goes to a lot more effort than the other games to make you think about what's Actually going on, even if it doesn't always work.

As for characters you'd like, if you just want to look some characters up, my recommendations based on what I understand about you include:

Awakening: Libra fits 'gnc man of the cloth' so well it's actually a conversation in game: "so what's a woman of the cloth doing here?" "...man, sir, man of the cloth." And Then He Never Gets Misgendered Again. Also Nowi's supports sometimes feel like a jab at antis-- she's a manakete, a person who can transform into a dragon. Manaketes also grow really slowly, as in "middle aged looking manaketes are like 1000 years old," so she's got major baby face and copes with being mistaken for a teenager by making jokes. Also Gregor, who she first appears with, is pretty fun--older mercenary with a thick accent who is like 80% here for a good time. Also Walhart, who's a villain but got some content added as DLC.

Fates: any interactions between Corrin, Leo, and/or Camilla are probably right up your alley--Camilla is obsessively protective over her siblings in a way that's Very Definitely Platonic™, and Leo also canonically has a crush on her in something that was cut in the English release. Also Gunther--once upon a time he was your classic knight in shining armor, now he's semi-retired, Corrin's personal guard, and covered in scars (and his voice is gorgeous too)

Echoes: my biased answer is to listen to every single line Ian Sinclair read for Berkut because he absolutely did NOT have to go that hard. My actual answer is to point you in the direction of the pegasus sisters Catria, Palla and Est, or maybe the older gentleman who's the head of the Priory, I forgot his name oops abbdbd. Also Clive is a devoted husband to one Mathilda, who looks just like an older version of his sister Clair 🤔

Three Houses: knowing you, you'd adore Hanneman--an older professor who's extremely passionate about his work, to the point where he tends to forget personal space and such. Also Seteth, like I mentioned before (join me in simping for him and his gorgeous pecs) and like, honestly, I know ppl make jokes about Alois but he's rlly good. Soft, awkward but he doesn't care, dad jokes everywhere. And also Mercedes, both because she's the biggest sweetheart imaginable and everyone should love her, but also bc she is just walking potential for the kinds of stuff you post on this blog. On one hand, she's the oldest student at the Academy and attached at the hip to one of the youngest, Annette (tho people act like they have a way bigger age gap then they actually do) and on the other hand, she has a long-lost half brother she can encounter (who I will not name for HUGE HUGE spoilers reasons) who she spends the rest of her life with in one of her endings. Heck, he has three possible endings total! Total!

Basically I brought the games up bc I'm used to being on the side of the fandom where everyone shoos anything uncomfortable under the rug, but there's so much material here that's being wasted I SWEAR
