As for headcannons, that's a good question. There are a lot of interpretations and they are all so cool, it's hard to find one I don't like. I guess I would say the juniper shipping, if that counts as a headcanon? Generally I think shipping is pretty meh, and Juniper and Phoenix's dynamic feels more like mutual terrorizing in my head.

Max's first crush is on Robin who has to let her down gently after she finds out or Max confesses. It hurts at first but Robin becomes a true friend and her queer mentor.

This is an adorable headcanon! I do have respectfully disagree, though. In my opinion, Max acts like she already has a small crush on Nancy. She has had one since season 2, so Robin couldn't be a first crush. Nancy presented as a strong, fearless, and trustworthy force. She's quite literally Max's hero and idol more so than any other of the older teens.

Either way, I dont think Max would ever confess a crush to either because of the age difference.

However!!

I do see Max accidentally confessing a crush on a girl, such as El, to Robin. Robin is very approachable and exactly the person Max is most likely to turn to for that kind of thing. Robin would 100% be willing to take on an older queer mentor/real friend role with her. Max might even develop a crush on Robin after the fact, after experiencing her care and kindness.

I am literally sobbing right now

Okay okay— let me breathe for a second.

I am definitely working some other characters in here, I’m about halfway through chapter two right now so it should be released relatively soon! We’ve got a scene on Mt. Aocang but reader just kind of blindly follows Zhongli and doesn’t exactly realize the significance of the place, or the reverence that others hold for the adepti.

She’s just kinda like “if zhongli says it’s fine to be here then I guess it’s fine to be here 🤷🏻‍♀️”

I haven’t exactly worked out how reader will find out about Zhongli… I’m very torn between letting her work it out on her own, (with the added turmoil of self doubt and thinking she’s just crazy for thinking such things) or having someone else kinda spell it out for her.

We are definitely going to see some healing when it comes to Zhongli spending more time with the reader.

I’m not a fan of perpetuating the stereotype that those with self worth issues and anxiety can only find their confidence through the affections of another— HOWEVER I would be lying if I said that it didn’t help.

With Zhongli, I think it’ll be more that his gentle encouragement and affections make reader realize that like… hey, she’s actually not that terrible of a person, and hey— interacting with people isn’t so hard anymore!

We already see some progress with her spending time with Madame Ping, not feeling as anxious walking through the Harbour while the morning rush is starting. It’s a slow process, but I hope to convey it through subtlety’s like that.

We are definitely going very in depth with the vision stuff, I’m having a blast incorporating the mechanics of the game into zhongli’s little geo vision 101 lecture. It’s very fun to try and translate game mechanics into logical “real world”(fic world hehe) applications.

I know that reader is going to focus on being a healer while also providing some defence. (Think Noelle’s shield, but it’s gonna be hella interesting and way cooler lol)

Anyways— enough of my rambling!!! I want to thank you so much for taking the time to send such a lovely ask, you literally made my entire day.

I cannot explain to you all how much messages like this mean to me. I’m so grateful. My heart is so full now.

Lewis’s tie needed to be shorter, and his jacket better tailored. It was too many different fabrics for an all black outfit.

Monica was an Angel, absolutely gorgeous. I do wish it was a slightly darker red.

Glen was boring (no surprises there) and his hair gave me the ick

Danny looked so good, his shoes were incredible but I didn’t like the watch, it made the outfit look cheap

For example Greg’s watch was much more timeless, though I wish he had cool shoes, or an accessory cause he was basic too.

Was Jay’s suit velvet? I liked that he had a contrast in his tux

Lewis's tie either need to be shorter (like a bowtie) or longer and thinner; or a bolo tie. And he should have worn more colors -- I'm still waiting for Warren (who styles AG and Glen, as well as Lewis) to put him in a green suit to make his blues pop.

Monica looks good in EVERY shade of red -- I've seen her in that crimson color before and it's ALWAYS incredible.

Glen looked like a Ken doll, per the ushe.

DANNY'S SHOES WERE GREAT. I loved his watch out of context, like if it wasn't with this outfit, I would have appreciated it more. He probably didn't even need one, but I liked that he's unafraid to accessorize. And he always looks good with his earrings. I MISS THE LONG HAIR AND THE UNDERCUT -- I'm going to mourn his hair for a while, but I like that he's reserved some volume and some curl.

I thought Greg looked beautiful, and like, classicly and timelessly so -- but your'e right -- a little basic? Esp because we've seen him in SO MUCH color in the past. He looks GREAT in pink. Why not wear one of his bright suits? Like I'd love to see him go all "Coyote" and wear orange and black.

Jay's suit WAS velvet. I fucking LOVE a velvet suit. No notes. Jay wins 11000/10. He looked tall, chic, and perf.

I give Jay gold.

Just being friends. After she waited for him. And said that no human would ever be able to understand her...

Hmmm, interesting question! To be fair, I don't think that she was waiting for him anymore after his first return. I believe that despite the pain, she was able to start letting him go after that? So I never expected him to come back as a love interest, and I don't think it did her dirty for them to be just friends. He was going to marry another woman after all.

I personally was never attached to the idea of her and Mon-El. I think they work better as friends, and them being able to interact on an equal-understanding playing field one last time actually sounds like a good thing. Like finishing the healing.

I also had some life stuff happen right around the mid-season of season 6, so I never actually finished the show??? 😅 So take my opinion with a grain of salt. I know the basics of what happens, though.

There is a point about no human being able to understand her. She's right in that aspect actually. There are some things about her experience and her capabilities that she just can't apply in a human relationship. Im a huge advocate for Kara developing more alien friends and an alien romantic partner. I think they did her wrong in how they went about that aspect of her experience, just not particularly with Mon El.

They very rarely addressed the things that made her not human, that weren't her powers. Powers should have had a bigger impact on her daily life, yes, but to Kara, powers aren't what make her alien. Powers are alien to herself too. To Kal El, that is what makes him alien. What makes Kara alien is her upbringing, her religion, and her culture. Her very way of thinking and experiencing the world is kind of fundamentally different from humans.

Myriad would have worked on her if she even thought like a human.

I think many forget when Kara referenced her clumsiness being an act to Clark. Basically, all Im saying is there's a layer of deception and distance that's been required of her from the moment she landed on earth. A level of deception that is sometimes even present around her very human sister, Alex. She deserves someone that doesn't need that, someone who can take her anger and her fear, and her joys and her passions. Someone who isn't too fragile to touch on her worst days.

Sorry, that strayed a little bit from the original ask, I just think that her alienness should have been addressed more. It was a valid argument for her relationship with Mon-El, but there were some other forms of disconnect between them, too.

Saw your post about Nancy not being a particularly social person. I notice she's always listing off names of supposed 'friends' (sleepover at Ally's) or implying she's meeting large groups of people (S1 meeting people from school at the diner) to Karen when we never see her interacting with them. Do you think any of these friends actually existed in the first place? I noticed on Murray's board in S2 about Barb, there was an interview with a "school friend" so I wonder if Nancy and Barb were part of a larger group as acquaintances but exclusively best friends with each other? I also wonder why she feels the need to put up a front in front of Karen that she's more social than she actually is?

This is a really great question, thank you! I’ve actually thought about this a lot, especially when planning that post.

Hawkins appears to be a small town, so that is the basis of how I’ll be interpreting things.

In season one, Nancy and Barb don’t appear to be high on the social ladder, but they also aren’t low enough to be actively bullied. We know absolutely nothing about Barb’s social life outside of Nancy, but it’s very possible that Barb had a few school friends that she wasn’t as close with. If she did, I imagine that Nancy knew them, but wasn’t particularly friends with them herself. Nancy would have talked to someone other than Jonathan and Steve when she went missing, if that were the case.

Every example of Nancy specifically mentioning the name of a friend are all used in the context of a lie. None of them are ever even referenced again in passing. I’m fairly certain that Nancy is not going to sleepovers with Ally, or anyone else, after Barb. However, Nancy acts like she expects her mother to be familiar with these names. This is where small-town Hawkins comes into play. People just know each other. No matter how introverted you are, the smaller the town, the more familiar you are with All of your classmates, and the more familiar your parents are with many, if not all, of your classmates. It’s inevitable. 

This leads into one of the most important points; Nancy is introverted, but not a hermit. She is NOT a social butterfly, but she is fairly socially adept. My understanding of Nancy’s social situation at school is that she is generally well-respected, but not especially close to anyone. According to Robin, she has somewhat of a reputation for being a priss because of her closed-off nature. In contrast, not only has years of close proximity forced a level of familiarity with a large portion of the school, but Nancy’s work for the newspaper has also required her to talk to many of the students. She’s friendly enough with plenty of people, but it’s different to talk to people for the sake of talking.

Season one shows us that Nancy is aware of social expectations. This may have changed a bit over the years, but these expectations matter to her on some level. She does change her behavior to be more socially acceptable, and this is something that may occasionally push her out of her comfort zone. She does occasionally go to parties and other ‘group’ things. She even invited Jonathan to the Halloween party in season 2, but as I mentioned in the previous post, if it weren’t for the trauma, Nancy likely would have spent the entire evening just sticking close to Steve and/or Jonathan. I’m uncertain how much she actually likes those kinds of group events in general. In her senior year, I imagine that she only went to activities she could write an article about. This is somewhat because she was very lonely that year, and somewhat because she seems to have matured a little out of that need to shape herself to fit the expectations of the people around her. 

As for Karen, I’m not sure how much of a front Nancy puts on. Each of the lies we know about, have a valid reason for existing. However, I think Nancy is putting up a bit of a front. Nancy has been through an extraordinary amount of trauma over the course of the show. Trauma that she couldn’t tell her mother about, even if she wanted to. She doesn’t want her mother to see how much she struggles, so she puts up a bit of a happier/more social face. She also isn’t exactly close to her in the first place, so it’s easier to dissuade misplaced concern and uncomfortable conversations if she hints at having more friends than she actually does. 

To circle back to your first question, I think those ‘friends’ are people she’s acquainted with at school. They’re people her mother has probably met, or knew of, because of this or that throughout the years. I don’t think they are people she hangs out with. I don’t even think I’d go as far as saying they sit together at lunch. Once her comfort people are gone in her senior year, Nancy seems more like the type to then work on the newspaper or go to the library, if that’s allowed, during lunch.

This all may be me projecting onto my favorite character, but sometimes people just don’t have friends in high school, even if they aren’t one of the bullied outcasts. Nancy genuinely seems like this is the case. She values close relationships, but doesn’t really have any. She’s lonely partially out of her own design and personality, and partially because of tragic circumstances. She retreats into herself, or into work/projects, when things get rough. She can become very driven and single-minded on an goal, making other things fall to the wayside. All this makes it difficult for her to connect to others, and probably makes her seem more intimidating to others than she actually is.
