Hi. It’s me. I’m the problem, it’s me.

Last weekend, @labnamedcash ate my bikini top and we had to make a trip to the emergency vet. Seven hundred dollars later, he barfed it up and well, I got my bikini back. And by back, I mean I really got it back. Swipe left.

(You can let me know in the comments if you think that’s super gross or totally acceptable. But I love that suit. So I’m not sorry.)

I made this photograph when Cash was only about a year old. We bought him a stuffed crab, which the manufacture boasted was” indestructible” and he absolutely gutted it within an hour. That’s when we knew for sure— we had a little psycho on our hands and we were going to have to love him hard.

That’s also when I knew I had to photograph the crab before tossing it. I have never loved a psycho so much— THAT’S art.

We’re pros at making art to honor loved ones passed and present but we do a lot of work honoring pets, too. Love is love! Pets are people too! (The only different between a person and a pet, I guess, is that a person knows to not eat a bikini.)

This is our “Little Man”, our “Old Man”, my little “Woodstock” when his hair grew out and he would develop a Mohawk. 😂 This is Romee and he left us this afternoon in a very peaceful setting at the vets office. Romee was born in Hamilton and when he was 5 years 8 months old, we adopted him from Brampton, we lived in Mississauga at the time. We were his 5th and final family. We told him right then and there he would never have to have another family again. He was smart, happy, loving and all around cute. He got along with everyone. He even got in on Ed’s Team meeting calls. He was one special dog and will be missed greatly. You gave us 11 years of joy and happiness Romee, we just hope we gave you the same. Romee… 16 years 4 months old passed peacefully around 4:00pm in Ed’s arms. Run free and be happy at the Rainbow Bridge! Mama Cat will be missed. She was a rescue cat we gave a home to when she was found abandoned and then passed on to us. Thank you to the Mount Shasta Animal Hospital for helping us when we brought her in after she got sick and at the end of her journey when it just wasnt working to turn her around. We gave her several months longer, together, in which we tried to make her quality of life better given that she was blind when found. We will never know her full story since she couldn't talk. Sadly it happens all too often that a pet is abandoned due to finances, age, owner death, or medical issues. Dont abandon them. Find them a safe home. Sadly there also arent enough homes. Please consider adopting from your local shelter or signing up to be a pet foster parent.
