Things you specifically or always do when playing certain videogames

I'm doing another tag game about videogames and our not-so-quirky quirks. Give 5 examples this time of habits or behaviors you commit when specific games or genres are played.

Here are mine:

Yakuza Series (PS4): I always, always call the local izakaya and order a take out of tekkamaki (tuna rolls) or some kajiki sashimi. because this game has your character nosh on premium sushi. Worse when you read the description and it always gets me mouthwatering for it. Nevermind the ramen or the donburi in that game, I love sushi and I will never play the Yakuza games without a dozen or so tekkamakis!

Streetfighter/Tekken: Or any one on one fighting games. I never play competitively. So when I sit in the arcade and play against the machine, and someone comes in about to pop in a coin, I always tell then "please don't. I do not want a challenger." I suck at actual human challengers. Thank goodness I've not encountered a jerk who ruins the game for me and let me finish my game.

Rune Factory/Harvest Moon or any farm sim: I check the list of marriageable candidates in advance and always pick the oldest bachelor. If there is an option to create a harem, mores the fun!

Resident Evil 4: I play tetris with my inventory. I am sure I am not alone in this :D

The Witcher 3: Nilfgaard always win! Also, I do not search for Ciri in the Isle of Mist until I get to talk to Countess Mignole with Vesemir still alive, then talk to Vesemir about her T_T.

ranking each member of the hansa’s handwriting from best to worst

geralt: he learned to read and write just twenty-four runes only for nenneke to scold him that his handwriting is terribly sloppy. it’s like… half-decent. he just has the writing of a middle-aged dad who doesn’t care what his writing looks like to others. but he always has had that writing, even when twelve. perhaps it was his destiny. however, he has good spelling and a somewhat-impressive vocabulary

cahir: he had pretty good, well-formed, standard runes. had to write imperal reports of his activities so he has had practice making it easy to read. his northern runes looked a little unique because written nilfgaardian uses different strokes but his nilfgaardian writing looked like the guides people get in school. so all was good. but he was left-handed, and ciri slashed his hand on thanedd, leaving two of his fingers unable to bend and overall with poor motor skills. so he borrowed some paper and a pencil from dandelion in mid-september and taught himself how to write with his right hand. he and milva spent a week and a half together in early october looking at the painstakingly written northern runes and nilfgaardian alphabet when in the druids’ sick bay in caed myrkvid. neither set look that great now tbh but now he has a hobby

dandelion: he is capable of fanciful calligraphy when it’s a love letter for a woman (or five). but he writes complete incomprehensible scratch when writing notes for himself. he has writer notes-scratch. much to his very own chagrin when he reviews his notes later. also frequently tries to write in the dark or by poor candlelight. also when he was a student he would write lazily because he couldn’t be arsed to do it nicely, the fact that he did the assignment at all was a cause of sensation for his professors. and one for celebration, as the thoughts contained in that scribble were usually profound and owing further consideration

angoulême: frequently misspells her words, as she mostly spells phonetically and guesses half the time. uses colloquial shortenings of words which also contributes to the puzzling nature of her writing. sometimes likes to write some of her runes backwards on purpose to mess with people who read it.

Since the galahkari have experience with runes do you think King Regis will ask for the help in rebuilding the Wall amplifiers?

I don't think Regis would need the Galahkari to do this? They might very well have been rebuilt after Ardyn's little rampage and we just don't know about it. (Since they were a game play element added in a DLC that came well after the main game.)

Added to that the Galahkari keep their knowledge of runes close to their chests. Barely anyone outside their culture knows.

Meet the Mammets - Dewy and the Library

Dewy is a custom mammet for the library built precisely three fulms tall at his iridescent white puff. He is built with an Ishgardian steel frame and aurum regis and phygrian alloy inner workings and his voice box has a warm tone like low organ pipes and almost no modulation to it with the occasional hiccup. His chassis is painted with a chromatic red paint that shines bright pink in the right light. He has little Nymian runes that stand out against the enamel in their natural phygrian gold edging every outer plate on his frame. He is apparently docile and will tend to the books of the library diligently until called upon for translation or other services, though he will step in if someone is struggling.

As the library mammet, he has two cores and a crystal to house his database set between them. Only the bottom core is wired directly to the small rainbow hued crystal and is a part of the enchantments that control the library's more unique functions. Dewy has a translation function for the written languages that can currently be found in the library but further translation function will have to be learned for the languages currently absent. He is also linked to the control book for the library that allows him to speak through the book to provide live translations as needed. He keeps a searchable index of contents within each volume in his database so that he can make recommendations when a certain material is needed. Though his primary tasks are all related to the upkeep of the library, he is equipped with the function of producing a levin shock by overcharging his primary core and conducting it through his hands. This is used only in dire self defense to prevent the destruction of his unit.

The library is coded and several Nymian runes are set at static intervals on the ground around the library to break the books up into sections, these sections are further divided at each shelf with another set of runes placed on the shelving. Each book is given a small vellum page at the back of the book with inscriptions that complete the translocation magics that allow its contents to be transferred to the pages of the control book. The process of adding the vellum to the book is not as simple as adding a page and the page must undergo a ritual infusing a bit of the book's essence into the vellum, a task Dewy can automatically perform once asked as the enchantment is bound in his second core though it takes nearly two bells where he will be unable to function otherwise.

The control book is a heavy tome as the bindings and cover feature metal components over hardened green glider leather. There is clockwork mechanisms in the front of the book in an aurum regis and phygrian gold alloy that have the same Nymian marks that can be found in the library and will need to be aligned to each section, shelf, and three dials for individual markings for which the book is marked. Inside the tome, the pages are thin vellum that have been treated with aetherconductive rosegold inks which has stained the pages a soft orange hue and left them reflective to a degree. There are precisely 300 pages to the tome and the book cannot translocate a tome that is bigger in its entirety. Tomes in excess to this limitation need to have a "bookmark" processed which allows the user to pick the section of the oversized tome they are reviewing. There are other limitations as a book much larger in scale will find the pages of the tome shrunk to fit the control book and while the light orange hue does not affect text, it is sometimes detrimental to conveyed pictures. The control book also has a small band of metal at the bottom of the front cover that houses the connective portion that allows Dewy to translate for the user or respond verbally with book recommendations. Dewy has the capacity to turn the clockwork dials at the front of the book remotely, but rarely employs this.

Books can be misplaced in the library and still located with the magics of the control book but removing a tome from the enchanted area of the library will render the call for the book useless and return nothing to the control book.

From Project : Desert, Chapter Nine. (this ended up being really long ^^; i just really liked this scene)

“I haven’t really been truthful with you,” Vinnie began. “I’ve noticed.” Orias’ response was sharp, but there wasn’t malice behind his words. He was waiting for Vinnie to continue. “The truth is I was asked to go back there,” he explained. “That lady you saw me with, her name is Clotho. She’s a… spirit I think, I’m not really sure. I met her at the Shrine the first time, before Niv attacked me-- there was stuff she wanted to tell me in person and that’s why I went back… but…” He wasn’t sure how to phrase it, but he needed to know. “She talked about you, Orias. Just who are you?” Orias didn’t speak for a moment, instead getting up from his seat and walking towards the shoreline. He stood only a few inches from where the water lapped over the sand. “I should be asking you that,” Orias said as he turned back to Vinnie. “Don’t misunderstand, I don’t believe you have mal-intent against me, but there still plenty you haven’t told me. A man gifted with ability to understand millennia-old runes and who speaks one-to-one with spirits—a simple historian, you are not.” He was busted—to Vinnie’s defense, he didn’t understand why he was able to what he was doing either, but he was sure Orias wanted a more concrete answer than that. So he told him the truth: “My name is Vincent Chryis Helio, I am—was the Regis Vicaria.” Orias’ curiosity seemed piqued. “Was?” “I ran away. I hated it, plus I was hardly qualified to be Regis in the first place.” “Selling yourself short, don’t you think?” “You wouldn’t understand,” Vinnie snapped. “No one would.” A moment passed before he spoke up again. “You don’t seem very fazed by that.” “When you get to be as old as I am, very little takes you by surprise,” Orias replied, but Vinnie didn’t understand. He continued, “I’ve lived in the Trigala for a very long time, long enough that I’ve witness an era tick by.” He looked to his hand for a moment, which turned inky black and ran up just past his elbow. “The truth is I am not Rane. I… I’m not sure what I am, but there were many of us once. Now only I and Niv remain.” “What happened?” asked Vinnie, and Orias showed him. Orias stuck out his blackened arm out in the direction of the sea; as if on cue, a mirage of red sigils filled the air around him; they burned his arm when it made contact. He recognized this phenomena—it’s exactly like the barrier that Clotho used against Orias. “We were hunted down by your Patrons; they called us anomalies and tried to destroy us, and the ones that survived were left to wander this desert wasteland until we killed ourselves.” Orias’ normally cordial nature was replaced by something more bitter, more remorseful. “I have never set foot within the walls of Trin, nor have I ever stepped past the borders and into the lands of another nation. I can’t even touch the very waters before us—so long as those Shrines remain standing, I will never be allowed to leave the Trigala.”

How am I not ready yet?!” “You have no idea what it takes to be Regis.” “Oh is that it?! And what—you do? You were only an apprentice, Reese! What makes you think you’re so qualified to decide if I’m ready or not?” “Because I worked alongside the previous Regis,” Reese said as he stood up. “I saw how much it took a toll on Regis Arostis—” “And you think I don’t know?! Arostis was my dad—I saw how much the job destroyed him and now he’s dead because of it!!” He could tell he was seething, but this was a subject that was a little too personal. “You know what? I get it. I was never suppose to be Regis in the first place. And I know you’ve got some animosity against me because of it. Well congrats, because you get to be Regis now. It’s what you’ve always wanted, right?” He was expecting Reese to be angry, but he only looked concerned. “Vincent, that’s not—” “Just get out,” Vinnie snapped, yet Reese refused, saying something of along the lines ‘I can’t leave you like this’. It only made him angrier.
