#rep. Jerry Carl
The Republicans could lose several seats in the House of Representatives due to a surprise Supreme Court ruling which will create a new Black majority district in Alabama, according to a new study.
On Thursday the Supreme Court backed a lower court's ruling, by five votes to four, which found the districts drawn up by the state violate Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act, which prohibits "discrimination on the basis of race" in the electoral process. Chief Justice John Roberts and Brett Kavanaugh, both widely regarded as conservatives, voted with the court's three liberal members to deliver the result.
The ruling means the boundaries of Alabama's seven House districts will need to be redrawn ahead of the 2024 congressional elections, in a move that is expected to benefit the Democrats. It will also increase pressure on other Republican states to follow suit, strengthening the Democratic position in North Carolina and Louisiana.
The Cook Political Report, a non-partisan analytics website, updated its ratings for five House districts following the ruling.
Alabama's 1st and 2nd congressional districts, currently represented by Republicans Jerry Carl and Barry Moore respectively, have been changed from "solid Republican" to "toss up."
The same has happened to Louisiana's 5th and 6th districts, putting seats currently held by Republicans Julia Letlow and Garret Graves, at risk to the Democrats.
Finally North Carolina's 1st congressional district, which is occupied by Democrat Don Davis, transitions from "toss up" to "lean Democrat."
However the Cook Political Report does add a caveat to its predictions, commenting: "Until courts or legislatures enact remedial plans, it's difficult to predict exactly which Republican incumbents will be impacted."
The Supreme Court's decision could open the door to additional legal challenges in other states whose maps have faced contention from critics arguing they purposefully dilute minority voters to favor Republicans. Louisiana and Georgia—whose state legislatures passed redistricting plans with similar characteristics to Alabama's—could face renewed legal challenges to their maps on the grounds they disproportionately diminish the power of the state's voters.
Thursday's court ruling was welcomed by President Joe Biden, who repeated calls for Congress to pass wider ranging voting reform.
"Today's decision confirms the basic principle that voting practices should not discriminate on account of race, but our work is not done," he commented.
However Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall insisted the state will continue the fight, stating: "Although the majority's decision is disappointing, this case is not over."
Derrick Johnson, president of civil rights group the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) saluted the decision as "a victory for Black America and a triumph for our democracy."

Top 10 Representatives (2023)
This post is for 'Top 10 Representatives' I'd like to fuck and is purely based on appearance, not politics. If you don't agree, either scroll onwards, post your own idea or try another blog.
10. Rep. Jerry Carl (R-AL 1st District)
An American politician and businessman serving as the U.S. Representative for Alabama’s 1st congressional district since 2021. Nothing to base this on, but Jerry looks like he could be had, if offered… THE DICK.
9. Rep. John Carter (R-TX 31st District)
Damn… they grow them hot in Texas. The U.S. Representative for Texas’s 31st congressional district, serving since 2003. Nicknamed Judge, Carter is falls in my ‘loves to fuck’ theory and he does look like he loves to fuck.
8. Rep. James Comer (R-KY 1st District)
An American politician from the Commonwealth of Kentucky who currently represents the state’s 1st congressional district in the United States House of Representatives. Something tells me he could be a great cocksucker. Just look at those lips. What? I’m not saying he is… just that he could be and I'd love to find out.
7. Rep. Jim Baird (R-IN 4th District)
An American businessman and politician serving as the U.S. representative for Indiana’s 6th congressional district since 2019. The best looking Pence brother from his silver hair, down to his nice legs and his various shoes.
6. Rep. Ken Calvert (R-CA 41st District)
An American businessman and politician serving as the U.S. representative for California's 41st congressional district. Married young divorced not long after, no new wife or lady friend that I could find. He has a cute little dog he dresses up and carries around with him all the time. I might be projecting, but I think my chances are high with this one.
5. Greg Pence (R-IN 6th District)
An American businessman and politician serving as the U.S. representative for Indiana’s 6th congressional district since 2019. The best looking Pence brother from his silver hair, down to his nice legs and his various shoes.
4. Jeff Duncan (R-SC 3rd District)
An American politician who has been the United States representative for South Carolina's 3rd congressional district since 2011. Well, all I can say is this man is almost perfect for me. Why not perfect? He's not naked and in my bed with my jizz all over him. What? Then he’d be perfect.
3. Rep. Glenn Thompson (R-PA 15th District)
An American politician serving as the U.S. representative for Pennsylvania's 15th congressional district since 2019. Nice and manly, he looks like he would be a champion in bed.
2. Rep. Don Bacon (R-NE 2nd District)
An American politician and retired military officer serving as the U.S. representative for Nebraska's 2nd congressional district since 2017. Handsome, nice tits and body. This man is husband material. Better yet, trophy husband material. The type of guy you can walk into a room with him on your arm, telling everyone “Yeah… I’m fucking this.”
1. Rep. Mike Bost (R-IL 12th District)
An American politician. This man is almost perfect. The only thing wrong with him is that he isn’t in my bed. Nice build, nice dresser and a very handsome face.
HONORABLE MENTIONS:
Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA 20th District)
Rep. Mike Rogers (R-AL 3rd District)
Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-MD 5th District)

Huffington Post
Nov 12, 2022
As the dust settles from Tuesday’s midterm elections, a disturbing trend in the GOP is coming into focus: More than 160 Republicans will be in Congress in 2023 who have either denied or cast doubts on Democrat Joe Biden’s presidential win in 2020.
Some will be at the highest levels of House leadership, setting the agenda for the chamber for the next two years. Some are seasoned U.S. senators with presidential ambitions. Some will be brand new to Capitol Hill.
But what these people all have in common is that they made the political calculation that it benefited their career to fuel the lie that the 2020 presidential election was stolen from Donald Trump because of widespread voter fraud.
They’ve done it in different ways. Some have bluntly claimed the election was stolen. Some joined lawsuits to try to throw out the results of the 2020 election. Some have tried to have it both ways, by saying, of course, Biden is the president ― while refusing to address the validity of the election, a common dog whistle among Republicans afraid of upsetting Trump’s base of supporters by admitting Biden beat him in 2020, fair and square.
A preemptive note: Some Republicans on this list will probably deny that they belong here (like, say, Sen. Rick Scott) and insist, perhaps with annoyance, that they have long said that Biden is the president. Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-Texas) has clashed with fellow Republicans who have falsely said that Democrats stole the 2020 presidential election, and he recently called out election deniers for privately admitting that they know what they say in public is a lie. But he’s on this list, too.
HuffPost is using the term “election denier” to refer to Republicans who claimed the 2020 presidential election was stolen or alleged widespread voter fraud; who voted to object to certifying Biden’s Electoral College votes (hi, Sen. Scott); who supported partisan reviews of ballots in 2020 swing states; who signed a bogus lawsuit alleging “an unprecedented number of serious allegations of fraud and irregularities” in the 2020 election in a brief to the Supreme Court; or who attended or expressed support for the Jan. 6, 2021, “Stop the Steal” rally in Washington that led to an insurrection at the U.S. Capitol.
Taking it to a new level, one incoming member of Congress, Republican Rich McCormick of Georgia, lamented earlier this year that “no one was hurt by voter fraud more than myself” when he lost his congressional bid in 2020. There was no evidence of fraud in his election. He just lost ― by more than 10,000 votes.
Below is a running list of all of the election deniers who will be in the House and Senate starting in January. Italicized names mean they are new to Congress. This list will be regularly updated until it is final.

Alabama readies for battle over Space Command HQ | The Hill
"Alabama’s congressional delegation is fuming after President Biden nixed the relocation of U.S. Space Command headquarters to their state and has warned the fight is far from over.
Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Ala.), the chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, launched an investigation this week into the motives behind the decision after publicly alleging Biden’s choice was political.
Lawmakers also accuse the Biden administration of improperly building up the Colorado Springs temporary headquarters before making the final decision that scuttled the move to Huntsville, Ala.
“It is clear the Biden administration cares more about advancing their far-left agenda than the security of our nation,” Rep. Jerry Carl (R-Ala.) wrote on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter. “We will not give up this fight because Space Command belongs in Huntsville.”
It’s unclear what legislative or legal action can be taken even if the lawmakers uncover evidence of any improper decisionmaking. Congress is still working through the annual defense bill that could technically defund programs or stipulate certain conditions related to Space Command.
Biden’s decision means a major loss of economic stimulus that would have been brought to Huntsville from a new military headquarters — an estimated 1,400 jobs for an estimated annual $1 billion economic impact.
The Biden administration’s official rationale was that relocating the headquarters would take years, possibly up to the mid-2030s, which would impact military readiness. In contrast, the headquarters at Colorado Springs can become operational in a month.
Brig. Gen. Pat Ryder said at a press conference this week that “politics played no role in this decision,” and the Air Force did a “thorough analysis and assessment.”
“A decision had to be made,” he said. “Recommendations were provided and the president made a decision, and that decision came down to operational readiness.”
Alabama lawmakers suspected a reversal was looming months ago — and believe abortion politics was a driving force in the decision.
In May, NBC News reported Biden would not relocate the headquarters because of a near-total abortion law in the state.
And a months-long blockade on more than 200 general and flag officers at the Pentagon from Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.) has upset the Biden administration, eliciting numerous statements blasting the senator’s hold. Tuberville is protesting a new Defense Department policy that provides paid leave and reimburses travel costs for service members who cross state lines for an abortion.
In a press conference this week, Rep. Terri Sewell (D-Ala.) said the state’s restrictive laws, along with Tuberville’s blockade, likely affected the outcome of the decision, though she did not offer any evidence for the claim.
“I’m frustrated because I expected more from the Biden administration. I had hoped for Alabama’s sake that politics would not win out,” she said. “But I certainly understand the feeling that you don’t want to reward the reckless antics of elected officials..."
Alabama is currently overflowing with short sighted selfishness, including from supposed Democrat Terri Sewell. Trump decided on Alabama to screw up the timeline it would take to get up and running. Space Force is also just a new name for an old military segment we already had. Alabama is hateful. They don't seem to even get how much their representatives are hurting the whole country, but they still want a reward? No.

Last week, Carling Mott was killed by a truck driver as she biked to work on E. 85th Street. Carling was the 12th biker to be killed in the city this year. It was reported by the New York Post and Streetsblog that Rep. Carolyn Maloney left a voicemail personally lobbying to prevent a bike lane from being installed on E. 84th and 85th streets on the Upper East Side – where Carling was killed. Had that bike lane been installed -Carling’s live may have been saved.

Here are the US representatives who voted against the US pro-LGBT+ Equality Act
The US Equality Act is to outlaw discrimination against LGBTQ people in housing, credit, jury service, public accommodations, and federal funding.
The House of Representatives passed the legislation yesterday, but it is unlikely that the Senate will follow up, given the Republican Party's increasing hostility to queer people. They are currently weaponizing transphobia in an attempt at mobilizing their base.
In the Senate the bill will require at least 10 Republicans to vote with all Democrats to advance past the so-called filibuster.
Metro Weekly has listed the representatives that voted against the law in the House.

At the top of the heap of people whose names shall live in infamy are GOP Senators Josh Hawley and Ted Cruz, who led the coup in the Senate to overturn the will of the people. After the fires started burning, Ted Cruz very poorly paid lip service to trying to cool things down, after he had helped commit the arson. Hawley could hardly be bothered to do that.
Those two garbage fascists were joined in objections to Arizona and/or Pennsylvania by Tommy Tuberville, Roger Marshall, John Kennedy, Rick Scott, brand new Wyoming Senator Cynthia Lummis, and Cindy Hyde-Smith. Let the record show that these people went ahead and kept up their objections even after the US Capitol building was attacked by domestic terrorists they and their shithole Dear Leader had incited.
In the Senate, it was only those assholes.
In the House, though? Holy shit. They objected to Arizona and somehow even more of them voted to sustain the objection to Pennsylvania in the wee hours of Wednesday morning, as if yesterday's terrorism put a spring in their step, as if the blood in the hallways of the Capitol gave them sustenance.
Again, all of this was after the terrorist attack.
And in the House it wasn't just Arizona and Pennsylvania either. Reps like Louie Gohmert stood up to object to other states too, even though the GOP senators who had originally planned to support those challenges had put down their guns and agreed to end the standoff peacefully. (It was particularly pleasing to watch Vice President Mike Pence glare at Gohmert, who just got finished unsuccessfully suing Pence to make him overturn the election, and tell him his objection to the electors in Wisconsin "MAY NOT BE ENTERTAINED," since he couldn't get even the Senate's dumbest Republican Ron Johnson to sign his treason permission slip anymore.)
Overall, 139 House GOP members voted to object to the electors from Arizona and/or Pennsylvania.
These are their names. They should not be allowed around your children, you should kick them out of your chicken restaurant, and they should always and forevermore be referred to as seditious traitors to democracy in the United States of America. They really should be expelled from Congress.
They're listed by state, to make it helpful for people to know which chicken restaurants to ban them from, specifically.

Here is a list of every member of the United States of America congress that broke their oath of office to side with an evil clown and overturn legal election results. If one of them is representing your district, and you’re okay making phone calls, you should certainly call them up and let them now how you feel. If they are even closer to you, maybe you could make your feelings known in person, protest outside their house, address them in person when they go out to eat, etc. You could even, theoretically, call the ones who don’t represent your district, just to keep their phone lines heavy with displeasure.
Just a thought. Good luck.

Pennsylvania House Republicans to Contest State’s Electors
Pennsylvania members of the U.S. House of Representatives announced Thursday that they will contest their state’s electors whom declared President-elect Joe Biden as the winner of the 2020 presidential election.
The delegation of congressmen includes: Reps Dan Meuser, Glenn Thompson, Mike Kelly, Scott Perry, Lloyd Smucker, Guy Reschenthaler, John Joyce, and Fred Keller.
In a statement, the lawmakers listed the following reasons for their decision:
Accepting ballots past 8:00 pm on Election Day
Not properly requiring signatures to match those on mail-in ballots or requiring dates
Meanwhile, the matching of signatures was required at a polling site
Authorizing the curing of mail-in ballots with less than a 24-hour’s notice
Only some counties were informed and adhered to this order leaving voters treated unequally from county to county
Authorizing the use of unsecure drop boxes, which is not permitted in statute
Prohibiting certified poll watchers overseeing the canvassing of ballots in Philadelphia
“Until these unlawful practices are acknowledged and corrected, we cannot agree to support electors chosen based upon an inaccurate total vote count. The voters of Pennsylvania deserve integrity in the election process and equal protection under the law,” they said.
On November 24, Biden was certified as the winner of Pennsylvania, following several weeks of vote counting and legal challenges by the Trump campaign.
Thursday’s announcement comes one day after Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) became the first senator to reveal his opposition to certifying the election for Biden. Hawley explained that he will object to “highlight the failure of some states, including notably Pennsylvania, to follow their own election laws as well as the unprecedented interference of Big Tech monopolies in the election
“Following both the 2004 and 2016 elections, Democrats in Congress objected during the certification of electoral votes in order to raise concerns about election integrity. They were praised by Democratic leadership and the media when they did,” the senator added.
In addition to the Hawley and Pennsylvania House Republicans, the following is a list of Republicans who have expressed support for opposing the election’s certification next month: Rep. Brian Babin (TX), Rep. Andy Biggs (AZ), Rep.-elect Lauren Boebert (CO), Rep. Mo Brooks (AL), Rep. Ted Budd (NC), Rep.-elect Jerry Carl (AL), Rep.-elect Madison Cawthorn (NC), Rep.-elect Andrew Clyde (GA), Rep. Jeff Duncan (SC), Rep. Matt Gaetz (FL), Rep. Louie Gohmert (TX), Rep.-elect Bob Good (VA), Rep. Lance Gooden (TX), Rep. Paul Gosar (AZ), Rep. Mark Green (TN), Rep.-elect Yvette Herrell (NM), Rep. Jody Hice (GA), Rep.-elect Ronny Jackson (TX), Rep.-elect Barry Moore (AL), Rep. Ralph Norman (SC), Rep.-elect Burgess Owens (UT), Rep.-elect Marjorie Taylor Greene (GA), and Rep. Jefferson Van Drew (NJ).

New Year’s Update
On New Year's 2015-2016, I made a resolution which I have re-made every year since: to
1) Read as many books as possible throughout the year, with the ultimate goal of (1a) reading at least 52 books (1/week) in one year, and
2) Keep an accurate and up-to-date list of all the books I'd read, so that I'd never forget.
I'm happy to relate that, after three years of trying, I have successfully achieved Resolution 1a! This year I finished 79 books! In past years I’ve posted my results on Facebook, but for the first time ever I can share the results with ya’ll here.
