Behold one of my newer favorite plants, the ric rac (or fishbone) cactus!
I'd never seen one of these before I encountered this one in a plant shop last year, and had no idea what to expect. Contrary to what its name would suggest, it doesn't like direct sunlight, and enjoys regular watering (this is perfect for my situation, as it so happens).
When I first got it it only had thick, fully formed leaves, and I had no idea what its growth habit would be. It has since put out a bunch of these thin shoots, which gradually fill in from the top down with the fuller zigzag shape. It seems like these should make it easy to propagate, though I'm holding off for another month or so before I try it.
They are epiphytic, which means that they grow on other plants or trees, like orchids. They can also bloom in the right conditions, but I haven't seen that (yet).

I’m vending at Chocolati Greenwood in north Seattle! I brought in some ric rac cactus cuttings and prints of my art.
(Support the other resident artists too, or ask about being artist of the month if you have your own art you want to rotate in!)

Update: Selenicerus Anthonyanus
11/22/2020:
Hanging high in front of a window and stretching every which-way, this feels like my hardest plant to photo-document. But regard its explosive growth!
I was so afraid of rotting it all summer that I likely severely under-watered it. So many of those new fronds are still thin -- but a few are beginning to thicken out. I’m not sure if the rest have hardened to a point where they won’t thicken, or if it’s just a matter of time. Overall, this guy’s super hardy and a ready grower.
I read the chrysocardium species is harder to grow, but since getting one, I’ve personally found it easier: the thinner leaves give more of an indication of thirst, and the new growth thickens out to full-size faster (because I’m watering it better? Likely).

I want to get rid of some plants without actually picking what to get rid of or finding a way to sell/trade them. I wish the ones I don't really want would just go away 😂

ms charlies, do you have any other plant facts to share with us? :)
DO I??
(yes)
favorite plant fact is that ferns are some of the oldest plants known to humans, dating back 360 million years
plants can get sunburned, especially those abruptly exposed to a brightly lit area
snake plant leaves are used to make bandages for first aid kits, the sap can be used as an antiseptic, and the leaves can also produce fiber for things like rope and baskets
very rarely the ric-rac/fishbone cactus will produce pink and white flowers that bloom at night and only last one day
the spider plant grows small baby plants that can be planted, called spiderettes
