She heard exactly what Ozpin was thinking when he disappeared — “Meeting you was the worst luck of my life.” “Maybe you’re right.” But she thought she didn’t have the option to retreat, to let someone else take control. Because that time, it was her.

#9: Fond memories
In V6C13, the memory of Penny dead on the ground (V3) is what makes Ruby lose focus when trying to use her silver eyes. In the same manner, the penultimate memory before Ruby could properly use her eyes in the same episode is the one where she reassures Penny of her humanity in V2C3, right before the memory of Summer.

For a while now I’ve felt like Oscar’s story is missing something. Like, we’re watching this kid deal with incredibly stressful situations, yes, but there’s nothing to help us as an audience relate to or understand how it’s effecting him.
I’m gonna use Yang’s story as an example to explain what I’m trying to say. We know a lot about Yang. We know that Raven left her and Tai when she was younger, and that probably gave her abandonment issues. We know that that trauma directly impacted the way Yang dealt with Blake leaving after the fall of Beacon. We saw her get her arm cut off, and we’re watching her recover and get stronger. We also see what Yang thinks about Raven in Haven’s Fate. Just knowing a few details about Yang’s backstory helps the audience understand why the events of the show effect her the way that they do.
We know next to nothing about Oscar’s past. Off the top of my head, we know that he lived with his aunt, we know that he’s fought small Grimm occasionally while working on the farm, and... that’s about it. All we’ve seen is this farmhand become Ozpin’s host, then go along with it (albeit reluctantly). We know from volume 6 that he doesn’t like being Ozpin’s host, which is made obvious in So That’s How It Is, but that’s a situation that could be stressful or traumatic for anybody. We don’t know how exactly this whole adventure has effected Oscar. We don’t know what his life was like before, or even who or what he wanted to be.
This got a little rambley but tl;dr: my point is that the audience doesn’t know what Oscar wanted, we don’t know what Ozpin’s reincarnation is keeping Oscar from. While it would be a stressful situation for anybody, I would like to know why it’s a stressful situation for Oscar specifically.

Do you just ever think about how Ruby was completely fine on the Lancer on her own, and she didn't actually need anyone there to keep her balance (she literally STANDS UP on it on her own when she faces the Sea Grimm) but she still held on to Weiss' waist when they were on it together?
Ruby that's lesbian activity

Keeping a tab on this moment in case it ends up being another STRQ callback for Qrow bc it’s been 4 years and I’m still fully convinced he was thinking of Summer in that moment
