Beasts of the Hill and Serpents of the Den, Ch. 22: Something Unblemished and Pure
During the First Age, the War of Wrath changes course. On the island of Tol-in-Gaurhoth, the Isle of Werewolves, one of Sauron’s former strongholds—is the seat of the Necromancer’s power. Instead of sending his wolves out to kill Finrod after capturing Felagund in his dungeons, Sauron demands an exchange for his life. Galadriel offers herself. | Thuringwethil’s interest in Galadriel grows, while Halbrand and Galadriel come head to head. Galadriel/Sauron | Halbrand. 101k | 4.4k chapter.
“Is that all you’ve got?” he demurred in a quiet voice that put her on edge, causing her resolve to waver. “I can overpower you easily, Galadriel, if I want to—”
“—You cannot hurt me, so try,” Galadriel shot back, and suddenly, all of his anger deflated out of him.
His eyes lost all their glowing, molten swirl of colors, sliding back into the simple semblance of a Man again, their rims wide and round and full of pain from which they gleamed in utter shock at her words. His head fell back against the chair, his gaze full of sadness and a longing that gave them a new depth they had not possessed just moments ago.
“Is that what you think I want to do to you, Galadriel?” he asked, his voice barely above a whisper. The corner of his eyes crinkled with an unspoken injury her words had bestowed upon him. “Hurt you?”

Galadriel x Halbrand AU moodboard inspired by (fictionalized) Elizabeth I x Robert Dudley because I love the idea of Queen Galadriel & Lord Halbrand in a secret affair (swoon).
What I must not say is that I love you. The more I let you go the more I seem to have need of you. And it will not go away no matter how much I command it.

Zigûr and Tar Miriel
“To whom do you pray, Highness?”
She blinked. A heavy question, riddled with loyalties she’d never confirmed one way or another. A small smile hooked around her face; the truth will not aid him either way. It is the smallest of victories but she clung to it nonetheless.
“I haven’t prayed since I was a little girl.”
“That’s wise,” She didn’t hear him approach, only shivered as he put his hands on her shoulder and spoke softly behind her ear. “Best to avoid such disappointments.”

moodboard for my finrod/sauron one thousand and one nights-esque au on ao3 / finrod/sauron au on tumblr
His laughter was as sharp as a blade. It was music, and leaping flame. For a moment Finrod saw across from him in the dark a being of impossible beauty, eyes aglow with molten light. Then the blade cut to the quick; the music jarred discordantly; the flame scorched.
“Thou amusest me,” Sauron said, the ugly words sparking bright as a file.

He had no fear, Mairon thought, faintly astonished even after so many days. That was not quite true: he was brave. That was it. Mairon had always thought of that word with mockery. No one was brave at the last, and it served them little.
-
“Before long I will not be chained in this body, lest you make new terms with me.”
“Perhaps I will make them,” Sauron said.
