alright i’m back (okay this got long so we’re gonna throw it under a read more lol

8. Where do you take your inspiration from?

this was actually somewhat difficult to nail down i gotta say. but i think it kinda comes down to about three things: good tunes, moments in life that made me feel things, and other people’s writing. like so much of what i write is basically songfic like it’s what speaks to my mostly. esp w all the taylor stuff like she songwrites in such a storytelling kinda way i can’t resist. there’s a few different fics i have (or have since deleted) that are drawn like. pretty damn directly from stuff that’s happened kinda in my own life (the 1 lashton, austin jalex, etc) and i think it’s actually been kinda good to sorta take those moments and look at them from an outside perspective like that idk. and i think i pull Vibes(TM) from other people’s writing quite a bit. stuff like emo lashton taught me a lot about how writing intimacy in a variety of ways works and like meghna’s stuff like starlight fic rlly showed me the power of playing w time in your writing and also just making every moment so big and loud even when it’s quiet. this was a long answer lol

9. In your xxx fic, what’s your favourite scene that you wrote? (for but it’s clear when it hits me)

this fic is really only like two scenes but like this chunk from that fic is my favorite bit and was also the first part of it that i wrote, fun fact:

Alex moves to stand but Jack drops a hand to his knee and their eyes meet, Alex’s holding a question. He parts his lips to ask it but Jack beats him to it again. “Can I stay with you tonight? This tune’s kinda put me in a weird mood now and I just,” he pauses and his eyes drift from Alex’s. “Just want to stay with you.”

He picks up Jack’s hand and lets their fingers tangle together before lifting them up to press his lips to Jack’s knuckles. “Always.”

They head in the direction of the stairs, leaving the guitar and journal resting out since the living room was already in a state of musical chaos. Jack’s exhaustion is obvious from his shuffled motions as they move up the steps and Alex laughs softly, these hours not unfamiliar to his racing thoughts, though he knows that obviously can’t be the norm for everyone. He lets a hand move to press against the bottom of Jack’s back and guides them in the direction of his room once they hit the top step.

fairly certain that i also kinda reused part of the last paragraph in a different fic (the one where jack is sitting around waiting for alex’s fight to get in) but it was pretty so i just kept it in both lkfjdsl

10. In your xxx fic, why did you decide to end it like that? Did you have an alternative ending in mind? (for you're the one to help me get to sleep // maybe i fell in love when you woke me up)

okay so this one is fun! my favorite things to write (and what i kinda think i write best tbh) is either going to sleep scenes or waking up scenes and so i had the wild idea of throwing both of those into one piece and having each one be from a different POV. really liked the idea, i remember i wrote the first half and got a little burnt out by it, had you read it, and then you confirmed it didn’t suck so i was able to keep going. but i hadn’t played around with like pulling a metaphor across a piece in awhile (like i do it in little ways but the last time i had really gone for it w that was 1973 fic) so i had the idea of starting and ending each scene with corresponding lines.

the first line in each one was easy to work with:

The sun is just beginning to set over LA and Alex is in love.

and

It’s pouring down rain in Maryland and Jack is in love.

but i really struggled with getting the last lines to coordinate in a similar way and have it not sound too clunky. like i’m telling you i spent way too fucking long figuring out how tf to phrase the one i ended up using for alex’s section.

And maybe that’s what love is, falling asleep already in a dream.

and

And maybe that’s what love is, waking up to the beginning of another dream.

but i’m genuinely so fucking proud of how it ended up working out like of all of my fics this one felt like it really covered all my favorite things about my writing.

17. Post a line from a WIP that you’re working on.

He laughs along with Alex while he tells him about the elaborate excuses he gets for late homework and tries to ignore the electricity he feels run up the entire length of his body when their feet knock together below the bar.

29. Do you have a story that you feel doesn’t get as much love as you’d like?

lol so total honesty, even if like, a couple of you in the club read my stuff and found even a glimmer of joy in it that would be enough for me (and i know the audience we’re working with here is already pretty limited) but probably either and we'd both stay out 'til the morning light (just bc it’s just fucking pretty imo and definitely one of the most well written pieces i have) or i can picture it after all these days aka all too well fic that i wrote w @reveriesofawriter. like i know it’s sad but fucking hell it’s a damn good fic

44. What is the last line you wrote?

the last actual line i wrote was whatever the last line was in the paper rings merrikat from the other day. HOWEVER, last line that i have no shared w the internet yet is:

It’s a sight he feels like he could look at for days despite the tiny voice in his head telling him to consider pumping the brakes a little. “Looking forward to it.”

Why are Kpop Predictions so... negative?

I'm not one to humor people who do Kpop Predictions (and for free? really? ya'll out here "spilling info/tea" about celebrities for FREE? IN THIS ECONOMY?). I just find them laughable/amusing because of how inaccurate they are 95% of the times, while toying with the fandoms' emotions. Creating unnecessary drama and stress about things that anyone with a common sense and logic could've predicted all on their own. But to give you guys an idea, here are a few by category:

#1. Twitter based Kpop Predictions

I’ve always had this MAJOR feeling that the great majority of them are run by THE SAME person on different accounts (kinda like how on Tumblr we're allowed to "manage" different blogs for whatever we may need 'em). Cause if you pay close attention they ALL share the same pattern:

SAME moon/crystal ball Icons

SAME way of "predicting" events ( *coughCOPY/PASTEcoughcough* )

They ALL go on hiatus at the SAME TIME and when they finally return they give the SAME excuse that they were depressed, drained of energy, mental blockage/migraine from predicting so much.

They throw shade at other prediction accounts and accuse them of "copying" them since they're "the original one."

They throw random predictions per day that never come true and when they don't and get called out its always the same excuse of "you choose what you want to believe" or "I never said it was gonna happen NOW, it could still happen in the future." (even after saying they would during the current year lol).

The great majority of these accounts are BIASED AF and mostly run by delulu shippers who tease the followers with incomplete information to keep ‘em interested.

🐍 Note: The one thing that I heavily dislike about these is that it's been proven in previous years that these accounts either work with or buy information from Sasaengs or insiders within the companies. Which is a big NO-NO in the Kpop community since Sasaengs are disgustingly invasive and have zero disregard for the Idol’s personal life and safety.

#2. Youtube Kpop Predictions/Tarot Card Readers, or as I like to call them: the "super-tragic-always-negative-BTS-are-gonna-disband-this-year-or-the-next-under-super-tragic-circumstances" accounts.

These youtubers are known for spending and wasting 15-20 minutes of their videos (and viewers lives) doing self-promos and showing off the different card decks that they've just recently bought (as if the predictions change based on whether or not you're using a Classic Arcana or a Sailor Moon/Pokemon/YuGiOh with limited edition EXODIA & Shadow Realm included deck) And as mentioned above, ALL of them give super tragic/negative predictions, especially when it comes to BTS. Like I remember at the start of this year, there were around 10 (or more) of them saying that BTS would either disband in mid or near the end of 2019. 5 of them stated (in COPY/PASTE fashion) that 2 members would either abandon the group to pursue solo careers, or that 1 would leave and the other would be kicked out for either health issues or this super huge controversial scandal that would ruin BTS' or the member's image and something about "diva behavior" or that the same member was a huge bully towards the others (and annoyingly enough, all of them kept pointing to both Jin and Jimin for some strange reason). But as we've seen, 2019 came and practically went and BTS are still together, still thriving. Maybe one or two "dating rumors" here and there during their "time off" that died in a span of 1 month or so and everyone went on with their lives because it was found to be the product of antis wanting to start shit because everybody wants a BTS scandal (and of course, close to AWARD SEASON *LE GASP*). So now those same "psychics" are correcting themselves and making up excuses that "they didn't have all the info" or "misunderstood it when they first got it". 🐍🐍 Note: I found it both hilarious and ignorant how the great majority of them are using the "members will start to leave one by one" as a sign of the group disbanding, when we know that starting next year they'll start enlisting in the military which is MANDATORY FOR ALL MEN IN KOREA. Meaning that all Male Korean Idols go through this process and DOES NOT necessarily mean imminent disbandment.

🐍🐍🐍 Extra: Oh yeah, can't forget that one account who said that all Kpop groups are part of the illuminati and they’re using some MK-Ultra shit on the fans through their music which is why fans all over the world now like Kpop and made it famous. Can't forget about those or someone will fight me. (The person deleted their channel too)

#3. Tumblr Kpop Predictions

*SIGH* .... where to start with this one....?

The group in this category is a strange hybrid between Twitter, Youtube and Wattpad/AO3. 'Cause i swear that some of the stuff I've read in a few of these account posts. while browsing for BTS. look like they were taken straight out of a super Angsty, Slow Burn, Hurt/Comfort, Soulmate AU, 30 chapters summarized into a oneshot fic. So you'll be either heavily disturbed or highly entertained at how creative the person is with their "reading". Like there was this one person who alleged that Jimin had been a woman in like 3 of his past lives, but was always involved in very abusive relationships (in 1 of said lives his/her father had r*ped him/her and Jimin gave birth to a daughter and when the daughter grew up they both fell in love with the same man. And the daughter ends up killing Jimin to keep the man for herself LOL what kind of twisted A/B/O shit is this?!) and apparently its...affecting him in the present with how he treats others? And like... the only way for him to "break the cycle" is by "making peace" with his past selves? Or else he'll keep repeating it?

(y'know...like The Avatar).

This same person also said that the Maknae Line have a beef with the Hyung Line. And that Jimin was gonna kill himself this year or when BTS disbands next year, cause without the group he was useless/talent-less and it didnt matter if he did solo projects cause they wouldn't be as famous as the other members, plus his supposed "girlfriend" would leave him at the same time which is why he'll kill himself. Like....BITCH, WHICH IS IT? Do you want him to make peace with himself and live a long healthy life or do you want him dead?? MAKE UP YOUR MIND! Or better yet, just say you're a Jimin anti and go (cause she didnt have any probs with the other members, always targeted Jimin). Although there ARE exceptions, like another user who told this past-lives reading on how they all used to be 1 person who died and their soul got divided into 7, and the 7 of them always managed to find one another on each and every one of the lives they've lived through (like the HEARTBEAT mv). That one was nice.

In Conclusion....

I just feel bad because of how ignorant and gullible the Kpop fandom in general has become in the past years (Especially the newer fans who don’t understand how Korean culture works, much less the Korean Entertainment Industry). To the point of giving these people clout when in reality they’re just taking advantage of them because they know how thirsty and obsessed some fans can get in their need to know MORE about the artists/group they stan.

cranberry orange! one of the farms a county over has a market and they sell them there and they’re to die for (altho, i found a sour cherry scone recipe that i’ve perfected and my family loves them so they’re a close second now)

i’ve never been to london, but i’m gonna have to go with london. i went to la last october to present in an awards show for my organization and i lowkey was underwhelmed. i’m very much a gloom and rain kinda person, and it was too dry and sunny there. although, i did think the huge succulents were sick as fuck. but yeah definitely london. i’m planning to spend a semester abroad there in a few years for an illustration program

3- kissing in a forest or holding hands under the stars?

i’m afraid of forests because we have a lot of wildlife and i don’t want to get mauled by a bear don’t mind me holding hands under the stars :)

4- jeans or suit?

suit suit suIT SUIT suit. i love wearing suits. my chest doesn’t cooperate and my hips always hate them but god i do love suits.

5- loose hair or pulled back hair?

mine looks better loose, and my sides/back are shaved but the top reaches my ears, so it gets annoying sometimes and i pull it up to keep it out of my face

6- vampires or dragons?

i wanna say both. i used to say “yknow a dragon but in human form would be hot” then i got called dragon fucker for like two years so out of pure spite i’m going with vampires.

7- what saying do you wish could be a spell?

(this one’s a very specific reference so hear me out) “i’ve got to go pee on her” used to disorient and confuse the speech of the person casted upon. it’s one of my favorite quotes from scott pilgrim vs. the world (my favorite movie ngl) when scott’s brain can’t figure out two different sentences and he just says that. it’s so good and just fuckin weird that i love it.

8- which carry on character would you go on a coffee date with if you could?

depends tbh! if we’re talking date date, then penny because i would wife penny in 0.5 seconds, but if we’re talking friends getting coffee then 10000000% baz because i’d talk activism and identities with him

9- favorite carry on quote?

“he told me we would be stars” (i don’t have my book on me so i could be getting the line wrong), but it hit so hard for me. like it’s clear how davy manipulated lucy so much that she fell into it and couldn’t crawl out. it’s such a powerful message of control from those who are charismatic enough to hold it, and how sometimes we aren’t weak enough to let go.

10- how excited are you for wayward son?

lemme paint this picture: i started hyperventilating in the hallway when i found out, and then cried an hour or two later when my friend texted me that he preordered me a signed copy. like. i’ve been pre-planning how to get home from college to come and pick it up (okok the 24th is also my dad’s birthday so i’m. um. “coming home to visit him”, of course) because i’m just SO EXCITED to read them again in a canon way :’)

2017 Writing Reflection

@heart-attack-harry has tagged me to reflect on my writing from last year, so here we go! (lots of questions, so it’s under a cut for the sake of your dash lmao)

i. list of works published this year.

Every single piece (minus the 3 in the Firsts series and Let Me Be Your Goodnight) on my Masterlist was written in 2017. So that’s 31 published pieces and give or take 20 more that have since been taken down.

ii. work you are most proud of (and why): Rings of Saturn. I had been completely unable to write over the summer, which through me for a loop because I had so many plans for writing. I was finding it very difficult to write in second person, but I had this idea that I really, really wanted to put out there. And then Phoebe came to me and I had to write about her. I struggled with RoS, I really did. But I never gave up on it, and I wish I could bottle the euphoric feeling of publishing that oneshot because I have truly never been more proud of myself.

iii. work you are least proud of (and why): Probably Let Me Be Your Goodnight. It was second person/you/Y/N fic I had ever written. I didn’t really know what I was doing. I like the concept a lot but hate the execution.

iv. a favorite excerpt of your writing: This bit from You love me, right? really sticks out to me. It felt real to me while writing. I could feel the gut-wrenching disappointment.

“Must have big windows, mustn’t have neighbors close by,” Harry listed over lunch, and you caught the gleam in his eye that said I know it sounds like I’m kidding but I’m not.

“What about a spiral staircase?” you asked. “Always wanted one when I was little.”

“They are pretty,” Harry agreed. “But not very practical for when we’ve got little ones running around.”

Your heart sank. Little ones. He’d said it so nonchalantly, too. Like he’d known forever that you’d be the perfect mother to his future children.

“Little ones?” you squeaked.

Reading the expression on your face, he smiled and placed a comforting hand atop your own. “Not anytime soon, love, but eventually, yeah? Just don’t want us to buy summat and fall in love with it, and then once the time comes to start addin’ we realize s’just not gonna work for raisin’ babies.”

A lump the size of a softball sat in your throat. A clammy, sick feeling was washing over your entire body. How had this never come up before? The two of you had been dating long enough to have many conversations of all types. You knew each others hopes and dreams, darkest secrets, and guilty pleasures. You knew Harry’s favorite foods and just how he took his tea. He knew your favorite authors and the way you liked reread books until they were so tattered and worn you couldn’t even make out the title. But neither of you knew how the other felt about having children. It’s like, you were perfect for each other in every other regard, how could that one not be the same? Why ask the question when you feel like you already know the answer?

Because, well…sometimes feelings are wrong.

v. share or describe a favorite comment you received. There was so much kindness sent my way for Rings of Saturn, I don’t think I could even choose one comment. Just the fact that people embraced it even though it’s not a Y/N fic really meant a lot to me and has inspired me to continue working on OFC fics.

vi. a time when writing was really, really hard. From about July til just a few weeks ago, writing was a chore. I wasn’t happy that I wasn’t able to produce chapters in a timely matter, and it honestly kind of bothered me that I’d get so much attention for Y/N fics and blurbs and hardly any love for the characters I poured my heart and soul into. So I dabbled and tried to write some of the other ideas I had, but just couldn’t connect to a faceless character. The Rings of Saturn got so much praise, I felt like I no longer needed to torture myself with a style that just wasn’t working.

Now, I’ve finally got my mojo back. I’ve written 20k words in a week and a half for my new fic. I’m excited and inspired to write it. I haven’t felt like this about writing or had this much fun writing in ages.

vii. a scene or character you wrote that surprised you? In the now-deleted This Only Looks Like Love there was a scene where Winnie basically causes a scene at the front desk of Harry’s building. At one point, she’s clinging on to the desk and the woman she’s arguing with is yanking her by the legs to get down.

I had no plans for that to be in the chapter. It just happened. I was typing and let the characters take me down their road and I think the end result was a lot of fun.

viii. how did you grow as a writer this year. I learned that if I enjoy writing it, people will enjoy reading it. I spent so much time trying to squeeze my writing into a box to appease an audience I didn’t give much credit to. But having my best work--that was very, very different from anything else I had written--so well received showed me that I need to have more confidence in my readers.

ix. how do you hope to grow next year. I want to finish a massive idea. As I’ve started writing this fic, the gaps between the action of the main plot have been filled with a lot of fun sub-plots. The fic is growing rapidly, and I am bound determined to finish it this year.

x. who was your greatest positive influence this year as a writer (could be another writer or beta or cheerleader or muse etc etc). I’ve got so many, it’s hard to name only a few. Firstly, anyone who has ever liked, reblogged, and/or commented on my writing is a massive influence to me. Yes, I write for myself, but knowing there’s someone out there enjoying my work really inspires me to keep going.

@haroldsbee was the best cheerleader throughout Rings of Saturn, and I’m so excited for her to beta my new fic.

@permanentcross and I have had so many chats about writing, and each time I come away having learned something new about myself and with some wise advice.

@70s-harry and I bounced so many ideas off of each other and one of them even became a full blow series (Rotation).

i admire @roseonhissleeve so ridiculously. her writing is the kind that makes me feel like a better writer for having read it.

and i would be nowhere if it weren’t for the constant support, yelling, and actual friendships with both @hotpinkharry and @therosatour. whenever i have a new idea, these are the two i tell. whenever i’m feeling like my writing is the absolute worst, they both have their own ways of helping me look at it in a more rational light, and build my confidence up.

xi. anything from your real life show up in your writing this year. so much stuff i couldn’t even begin to point it out. i’m not completely sold on the idea of having children, so my worries came out in the form of You love me, right? i’ve been left feeling broke and used and abandoned like Bubbles in Rotation. i have a crazy love for astronomy and if i were better at math, i’d be the astrophysicist Phoebe is studying to be in Rings of Saturn. i think writing is the best when writers put a little bit of themselves into the pages.

xii. any new wisdom you can share with other writers. Don’t force it. If something’s not working, take a step back and try again later.

xiii. any projects you’re looking forward to starting (or finishing) in the new year. Princess and the Popstar! everyday we’re one day closer to it’s big reveal and i honestly can’t wait to share it with you all. i’ve genuinely never been more excited or more proud of a piece and i can’t wait to hear your thoughts.
