‘HEEL TURN’ is the long awaited & highly desired sophomore LP from LESSER CARE (@lessercare) & y'all can rest easy, the wait was well worth it as our boys done did it.

The El Paso-based duo, comprised of composer/lyricist/vocalist/guitarist Andres Chavez & drummer/percussionist/vocalist Zane Pacillas (w/ a special shoutout to bassist/guitarist Angel Yglecias) are the breath of fresh air that we’ve needed for some time & across a 12-track spread have further refined & mastered their brand of street_wearing, dream_gazing & Alt_rocking PostPunk. 

“God’s Favorite” sets the scene/vibe, letting you know, this isn’t the same ole stroll through the post-punk-park…

“Cry Orchid” is the first proper track & it puts Lesser Care’s confidence on full display by showcasing a softer side that brilliantly blends their brooding tendencies w/ a wash of dream_poppin textures while “Streetwear” brings those glammy gloomer goods & “Intuition” recalls the expert melancholic moodiness their big bros in Soft Kill have made a name from (those subtly massive drum fills tho).

“Candy” is all saccharine rush & ringing guitars (& more sick ass fills) while “Heavenly” finds the boys linking up w/ vocalist Haley Anne & stepping their game up to higher dreamPOP levels w/out dialing back any of the melancholy across 4 synth laden mins as “Even After Everything Changed (Feat: Tobias Grave)" brings a loaded 3:42 clip moodily lit & emotionally surged AltPop.

“Bubblegum Machine” ups the oomph across 3 mins of buzzsaw guitars & swinging beats while “Gloss” & “Something New” once again prove that our boys know their way around some atmospherically trapped SynthPop…. Which brings us to the one-two closing punch of “Finally Bare” & “Light Blue,” the former w/ its hard hitting swing (not to mention that final third guitar burst) & the latter’s bringing-it-all-home vibe as LC collect, disperse & hone in on all the sounds/vibes of the past 11 tracks while channeling them into a cohesively wrapped 5 min package.

‘Heel Turn’ is the sound of Lesser Care rising too the occasion & surpassing all our hope, desires & wishes… this is the sound of well heeled progress.

i don't really think that i'll be leaving anytime soon [ namely bc there is still one set request sitting in my inbox that i definitely want to fill ]. i'm just going to continue my little mini hiatus until the new year and just kinda lurk as i keep my queue going.

this season [ of 911 ] has just been weird for me as i haven't agreed with like 99% of the takes or theorycrafting that happened after every episode... and curating the space wasn't as easy as i thought it would be. i've swung back and forth on having accounts blocked to make the experience more pleasant and that has only helped a marginal degree.

i dunno. i've definitely watched shows and been at least semi-invested in the fandom side of said show on tumblr and not shipped what was popular, but it's rarely felt this draining or required this much effort to not see...

and if it was just trying to avoid bucktaylor hate it would be one thing... but it's trying to dodge that and bad takes about the season opener and howie hate and it's just...

i'm old.

shoutout to the bucktaylor discord tho. i feel like i'm in there sporadically, but y'all made watching the last half of the season the best.

you're "supposed" to do things for yourself, because you enjoy them, but frankly im barely doing art for the fun of it anymore i'm doing it because i can get attention/validation from it. but i'm not even getting much of that anymore!

on one hand. i do love drawing. i love being able to imagine something and then just make it exist, especially when it's my sillier ideas like marty mcfly as a sailor scout. i love the bttf prompt list i'm working thru right now! so far, it's made me draw often (not quite every day, bc life, but p often!) because i want to post on time. it has me drawing things i dont often draw or things ive never drawn at all! it's keeping my artist's mind fresh bc theres a new prompt every day, and even tho its all for a single fandom, there's still so many possibilities

on the other hand. i am not just creating art, i am posting it. and i have become dependent on the validation i get from strangers on the internet. i get so anxious when my art doesnt get any notes for over an hour--which is how it's been lately. i'm obsessively checking tumblr to see if someone's liked my post. i wait for someone to finally reblog (shoutout to anisa she always reblogs my stuff ily). i get really upset when a piece i spend a lot of time on or just particularly LOVE, doesnt get many notes.

you're "supposed" to do things for yourself, because you enjoy them, but i do this so strangers on the internet think i have value. when my art doesnt get attention, i have no value. and i know this is a horrible way to think, but nowadays you have to do everything for a reason that is not just "for fun" because anything you do just "for fun" is worthless. if you're not making money off of it, what's the point? if it's not a "side hustle", what's the point?

(i didn't even want to talk about the fact that i've been advertising my ko-fi on every art post and im about to just fucking stop. im going to be brief and say that im not currently working rn so it isn't a "side hustle", tho i'm not like trying to use it as a job but goddamn it i really do have fun drawing for other people, and ive got NOTHING ELSE going on and i could really use a few extra dollars. but i suppose part of my downfall on that is my lack of promotion bc i feel so ingenuine and annoying if i rb my link 100 times yanno. anyway)
