Recently leaked photographs of unused animatronic prototypes for Disneyland's unrealized version of ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter!

These animatronics slightly differ from the ones used in the final, Disney World version of the ride. Here Skippy is clearly hairless, and the main alien seems to have a more rigid carapace instead of the leathery skin of its final version

Spotted this odd looking fellow at goodwill today! He seemed so familiar to me but I couldn't remember from where....

He was such a gentleman during the ride home and once there decided to start the search on who this mystery guy is! I spotted his disney park tush tag and began to dig through the internet...

...It ends up he was part of a pre-show for the defunct alien encounter/stitch's great escape show in Disney World!

I'm over the moon about finding such a unique/obscure friend in such good condition! With only a mild scuff on his eye and a small hole near his antenna, Skippy's in great shape for being almost 30 years old! (Just like me lol)

Continuing the ExtraTerrorestrial: Alien Encounter concept art series, this is Skippy from the experience’s second pre-show.  In the pre-show he was the “lucky volunteer” who helped demonstrate X-S Tech’s teleportation technology. He would be a main character in a potential movie and, as mentioned in the description of the movie poster I made, would be crucial to the other two protagonists’ survival. My speculative biology brain wanted to draw more but I wanted to get the main ideas out as possible.  I will describe some speculation and lore regarding Skippy’s species.

  Skippy’s species is referred to as Er’oi.  Native to a roughly earth-sized moon that orbits a substantially large brown dwarf, the Er’oi are small, mammalian hexapods who share some characteristics with insects such as eusocial behavior and methods of smell and hearing.  With their world teaming with predators, they evolved to have keen senses and be proficient climbers as well as the ability to outthink said predators.  As a eusocial species, they live colonies consisting of one or more fertile queens, their male consorts, and  sterile workers who gather food and guard the co.  As a sapient species, the Er’oi are comparatively primitive, managing to create thick walled structures and stone weapons.  They were actually the first sapient species the Xerarchians discovered which resulted in the Er’oi gaining technology that would better protect them from predators.  Several Er’oi now live amongst the Xerarchians as workers and assistants though relations are not always positive as they are often viewed as lesser lifeforms by many Xerarchians.

I would like to draw more of their biology and culture at some point.

"A big part of why this was shut down is the exact same reason as to what makes it great, and one of the most unique attractions of any disney park- The more mature theming, shown off with X-S Tech's blatant greed, hubris and downright maliciousness, and the overstimulating *horror* seen in the main teleportation chamber? I don't think we'll ever find in a newer ride again. Not to mention, the "deco tech" visual style found throughout is one of the coolest aesthetic blends I've ever seen!! And if all of that doesn't get you... Skippy will. Cutest animatronic this side of the galaxy, with a wonderful voice to boot. He's even got not one, not three, but Five different plush variants you could take home!! big, small, smaller, backpack or fanny pack- it's your choice :] "

so my birthday's coming up in like a month give or take, and that has given me the excuse to go looking for an alien encounter skippy plush,, and upon further inspection. ive come to find out there are FOUR DIFFERENT SKIPPY PLUSHIES

one about 15" with a rotating head, 9" and 7" with irises and bean bags, and a backpack!!! it's insane to me that there's even more than one of this guy granted you can only find these guys on e-bay (though i've seen no signs of the backpack one) but they seem close to moderately priced anyway so i'm Getting One. it's Gotta happen

I had the weirdest dream night before last. My brother and I were watching tv in my old apartment surfing channels and this old kids movie came on. It was about a kid who acquires some sort of magic...radio? Car? Computer? Something that shouldn't be talking to him but was. And together they were fighting some bad guys who...wanted to take over the world I guess.

The movie starts with what I assume is an alien, and he has white hair and a white robe and 4 arms and he's just standing there while the credits roll singing the movie's theme song and dancing a bit, and in the dream, I saw him and pointed to the screen and blurted out "Is that Michael Sheen?!" And my brother was like "oh shit I think it is."

So what happened to his character is he's this kind hearted alien who gets killed (discorporated?) by the bad guys and his soul inhabits this kid's whatever the hell it was and so from then on, he's just providing the voice. Then at the end, he gets his body back and the kid gets to meet him in person and they have a sweet moment before Michael Sheen alien goes back to wherever he came from.

Then I woke up and was like "that's weird I should write that shit down" then I woke up for real. Waking up the first time was also a dream.

So basically imagine Aziraphale but instead of a halo and wings he has an extra pair of arms. For some reason. Unfortunately I don't know what song he was singing. But if you're familiar with the Disney ride Extra-terrorestrial: Alien Encounter, imagine if Skippy had a human form.

Like if this little guy was humanoid and played by Michael Sheen.

So that was wild. I remember thinking in the dream "welp guess this is my new hyperfixation" but I can't hyper fixate on it because, once again, my unconscious brain has concocted a movie that I want to watch but doesn't exist. Boo.

(Bestie thinks I should do it myself which.... I'm not sure that exactly feels like the best idea so naturally I want to do it.)

Finally figured out how to wear my ridiculous Alien Encounter fanny pack despite it being child sized.

It’s of Skippy! The creature that got fried by a faulty teleporter in the pre-show!

He doesn’t hold much, but I will now unquestionably be the most fashionable person in Tomorrowland when I visit next month.
