A snippet of Goose explaining polyamory to Bradley.

Carole shifted as she woke from a dream. The glimmers of it hung around her in the blue glaze of twilight but if she tried to think about it, it escaped her like trying to catch smoke.

Slowly, she unlocked each part of her body. Her arms unstuck from her sides, legs stretched tightly as she tried not to disturb Goose or Slider.

But to no avail.

Slider's hand rubbed her stomach underneath her t-shirt. Or rather, his t-shirt. Her's was somewhere on the floor along with the rest of her clothes, apart from her underwear, Goose's t-shirt and Slider's boxers. Apparently he didn't mind going commando underneath his pajama bottoms, something she could feel evidently behind her. He made an excellent big spoon.

Goose groaned in the darkness. He was flat out on his back, one arm around Carole, another underneath Slider. He made an excellent pillow, didn't move too much, although that was for a more morose reason.

After three months of physio, he could walk, but only with a walker. Every day in the rehab hospital had been intense, it had taken its toll on his mental health even if he tried to be positive for them all. Now he was out, he still had hours with the physio, and stretches and exercises too. The pain was immense even if he still had minimal feeling in his legs.

But that didn't stop them making the most of Slider being on leave. Even if he could only lie back, they had no issues. She could feel the slight ache in her thighs now, could feel their hands on her, the images floating around her head, she smiled to herself at the memories.

"Go back to sleep, Carole," Slider murmured into her hair.

"I will, I-"

A small knock at the door got them all darting up. Goose was the most unconscious of all of them. His eyes barely open, hair ruffled and double chin prominent as he lifted his head to look at the door.

"Momma?" Bradley's voice came through the closed door.

"Coming, baby," she replied.

Rolling off of Goose, she padded along the floor to the door. She'd started to convert the garage into their bedroom as soon as she could after learning Goose would have to relearn how to walk. Climbing up the stairs was too much of a feat for now.

She opened the door and her heart melted. Bradley stood silhouetted by darkness. The outline of his goose in his tight grip, his baggy plane pyjamas and him rubbing his eyes made for an impossibly cute image.

"Can't sleep?" She asked.

He shook his head.

"Come on, sleep in our bed tonight,"

He nodded and toddled after her as she crawled back into bed. Her and Slider shuffled back slightly to make room for Bradley to lie on Goose.

She watched him climb up up the bed, wiggling as he pushed himself up until she sighed and picked him up. He carried on wiggling as he got settled on Goose's chest.

For a second they all calmed down. Her breathing regulated as she watched Bradley with one eye open. Slider's hands locked around her middle. The regular thrumming of Goose's heartbeat ran through her head.

Just as she could feel herself slipping back asleep again, she saw Bradley dart up.

"Why's Uncle Slider in your bed?"

They all looked at each other, then back at him. She gulped. Slider's hands tensed around her middle. Sneaking a glance at him, she saw his eyes wide and him biting his lip.

She didn't know what to say. It was too late to explain the nature of their relationship to Bradley. There would be too many questions and she was far too tired

Luckily, Goose came to their rescue.

"He's in our bed because we love him a lot," he said. "We love him like we love each other, okay? We'll explain it in the morning."

Bradley didn't say anything at first. She knew he was staring straight at Slider, not meaning to be malicious but having that innate toddler nature to be creepy.

But after a few seconds, he simply said, "Okay," and lay back down on Goose's chest to sleep.

Slider looking up to the sky every time Ice and Mav do something stupid or that shows how much they are in love is the equivalent of him watching towards Goose and Carole to ask them to give him patience because if they give him the strength he's going to walk out of the room.

"Too much secondhand embarrassment, loves. Still too much after all these years." he sometimes finds himself whispering and laughing in the wind.

Weird take but Carole and Mav get married a couple of years after Top Gun.

It starts very simple --- Carole doesn't want to move out of the house she and Goose rented in Lemoore though the military programme but she can't stay there more than three months after the funeral because she is a widow and VA can't really prolong the lease for non-military people without a military spouse. She wants Bradley to have a stable home and keep the friends from other military families Bradley already made and she quite frankly can't afford anything as good as the military housing within the same budget out privately somewhere in the area.

Mav is living in a bachelor pad that looks like the cheapest student house share one has ever seen so he says, hey, let's transfer the lease onto me and we'll just try to pay for it together. And then he moves into the spare room they were previously saving up for Baby No. 2 that will never come to be.

It makes some things easier too --- Mav can take care of Bradley while Carole looks for a part-time job that can align her hours with Bradley's future preschool hours as he's not in one yet since she was a stay-at-home mom since they moved to Lemoore. She is a qualified teacher (art/music) but there aren't many schools around and she has barely taught before b/c she finished her degree and got pregnant not long after and with them moving around different bases, she couldn't find a job as anyone but a temp teacher. It's easier to cook for three than for one and they can switch with the chores depending on who is home at the time.

This rises some eyebrows in their circle of friends and military acquaintances --- Mav moving in with his best friend's widow not long after he died and helping her with taking care of his best friend's kid --- but everyone who is closer to Mav knows he still feels guilty about Nick and that Carole and Bradley are the closest thing to family Mav has left so it's kind of brushed off.

Ice and Slider, who have kind of gradually became a family fixture too, coming to dinners and helping with Bradley when both Carole and Mav are busy, have a bit mixed feelings about this.

Mav and Carole do seem awfully close. And even with Slider knowing that it was Mav who originally introduced Goose and Carole to each other, they seem almost too synced up for it to be completely platonic or new. Mav is very natural as a parent-adjacent, too, and it might turn Ice into a gooey puddle of lovestruck idiot, but it also makes Slider a bit too aware of how fast the switch from Mav-the-fun-uncle to Mav-the-helicopter-dad was made.

If Slider was honest, he'd admit it's the jealousy speaking. He had a crush on Goose when they were in the USNA that was kind of hard to comprehend but the crush on Carole is even harder to comprehend because, well, she just lost her husband and he should not be thinking about his tragically-dead friend's widow like that, but also it's a bit weird that he had a crush on both people from one marriage. He's carefully balancing on what's appropriate and on how to make it easier for Carole and yet Maverick just slides into her life in a blink-and-you-missed-it moment. Maverick has no qualms about showing Carole affection, smothering her in hugs and cheek kisses and bringing her jumpers when they sit in the cold breeze in the porch and taking Bradley who had fallen asleep from her arms and swaying him around in his, never held back by some unspoken rules. Especially that Slider kind of sometimes sees those moments when Carole is looking at him, shyly, too, like she's battling with herself about how inappropriate it'd be if Slider had those feelings and she had those feelings back. They have the little coffee dates or he takes her and Bradley, just the three of them, shopping or to a museum, or he gives them a ride when their car doesn't start in the morning, and Carole looks at him with those huge eyes of hers all bright and bubbly and Slider---Slider can only think about how inappropriate it'd be.

Ice is, well, Ice, so he's being a bit emotionally constipated. He's in Denial, with capital D included. Maverick and Carole might be in sync but the two of them are the ones bickering like an old married couple. The locker room banter in present every day and Slider can swear that if they weren't in public, they would have fucked at least three times already after their so-called 'arguments'. He talks about Mav way too much, too, always thinking about what they can do for him and Carole, and where to take them and Bradley next. He's become addicted to Mav's surprisingly good cooking and have stopped eating spaghetti outside of Mav and Carole's house because it 'doesn't taste the same'. He takes Mav to clubs and bars to relax when he has a heavy week and it's as close to dates as Slider would put them. He's a bit weird about Carole being affectionate with Maverick, too, but in a different way --- he always looks away when she kisses Mav on the cheek or when they cuddle up on the sofa with Bradley lying across their laps. He always puts his nose in Mav's hair when they hug goodbye but barely gives Carole a pat on the shoulder. He teases Maverick every time of the day, too, but he's always smiling so softly when he does it, melting even more when Maverick grumbles in response instead of starting a fight. Whenever Maverick isn't looking, Ice looks at him like he's about to vanish from his life at the wrong word. He looks at him like that would be his life's biggest tragedy, too.

Despite all that, he still claims he 'doesn't like Mitchell like that' and that even if he did, Maverick wouldn't be interested, even though they both know Maverick is bi.

It kind of gets a bit weirder when, after almost two years since Goose's death, Bradley starts calling Mav 'dad'. It gives both Ice and Slider a heart attack, when Baby Goose says during their usual walk to the park that, Dad is taking me to the aquarium with Mom next week, maybe you can come, too. And Carole and Mav don't react aside from making the usual excuses of they might be busy, baby (like either Slider or Ice could ever say no to any of the three of them).

Mav, later, explains that Bradley was having some difficult time explaining who Maverick was in their family dynamic to his pre-school teachers and so they went with step-dad and so Bradley picked up on it and started using it sometime a week before the park trip. It was an obviously big change but he was still remembering and calling Nick 'dad' too, so they've decided whatever Bradley is most comfortable with will be what they'll go with.

It's a logical explanation, to both Ice and Slider, even if it'd sound a bit icky to anyone who didn't know Carole, Mav and Goose's dynamic well before. It also makes Slider wonder what he'd be if the step-dad title was already taken, even if the thought is shoved back deep into his mind as soon as it surfaces.

Ice is, well, still Ice, so he alternates between getting red in the face every time Baby Goose calls Mav dad while they're doing something cute and between getting incredibly quiet about it. Slider would bet that he is having an identity crisis as he's both always hated the idea of having his own kids and now he doesn't and because the person who is changing his mind is Maverick, of all people.

Then Ice and Slider get deployed for four months and when they come back, first hot rumor on base they hear is that Mav bagged his best friend's widow.

Obviously, at first they think it's a rumor but then the gossip girl of their squadron (their XO) confirms that Mav's file has been updated so he has two dependants, his wife and his now officially adopted son.

Slider feels like an idiot. Ice is sulking but he's in even bigger denial, saying he's been expecting this and that Mav and Carole were a good couple and would make each other happy and that they were already making a beautiful family with Bradley. It gets very awkward, very soon, especially that Mav and Carole don't say anything about it when they meet again.

In the meantime, Carole just had been made redundant after the school she was teaching hired a new full-time teacher who could work more hours and didn't have a kid to pick up from pre-school everyday around two. The payout she got from the Navy after Goose's death wasn't much and she could keep on being in and out of work for some time but Mav's deployment was getting closer and closer too and they had to revise all the possibilities. One being that Mav might not come back, too.

So they got married, on paper, no ceremony and with a city hall employee as the only witness. So she and Bradley could have some safety net if worst came to worst. So she could take Mav's newly signed life insurance and health benefits of a military spouse. So if the situation were reversed, Mav didn't have to struggle to get Bradley's custody.

𝓘𝓬𝓮𝓜𝓪𝓿 - 𝓣𝓱𝓮 𝓒𝓸𝓻𝓹𝓼𝓮 𝓑𝓻𝓲𝓭𝓮 𝓐𝓤

I saw this post by @aestheticsuwu and became obsessed. So, here are some of my thoughts if I were to write a fic one day.

Pete was twenty-four years old when he died. He would be forty-three now if he was alive.

He was Duke Mitchell's only son and, when he died disappeared, he went in a frenzy trying to find him and bring him back home. They were pretty wealthy and known at Miramar, but he lost everything in the search for his son - He thought Pete ran away with a widow after Duke told him he couldn't marry her.

Duke died thinking his son ran away from him after their fight and never returned, with no money and no family.

Pete and Tom's parents knew each other when they were kids and he and Mr. Kazansky didn't get along very well - Pete always made Ms. Kazansky laugh and was always very kind.

Nick, Carole and Pete only met each other after all of them were dead. Pete had been dead for years when the couple appeared at the Land of the Dead with their kid and immediately adopted them.

The Bradshaw family died in a carriage accident. They were travelling to Ron's house to start living with the man, but near the city, they suffered an accident and died.

Their deaths happened five years before the story's time and Ron always thought the Bradshaws had simply given up on him and chose to return to their old life - He later discovered that was not the case.

In my head, Tears to Shed is sung by Nick, Carole and Bradley - Yes, Bradley, because he doesn't want to see his Uncle Mav sad - and, during it, Nick threatened joked that they could take the girl out of the way and Pete threw a pillow at his head.

Pete's mother used to call him 'Maverick' or 'my little Maverick' and, after she died, Duke only called him 'Pete' or 'Mav', but never 'Maverick' like before. The first person to call him 'Maverick' after his death was Tom.

Nick got his nickname because one time he laughed so hard he sounded like a goose - Which happens almost every time he laughs, really - and Bradley said "Dad, you are a goose!" and it just stayed.

When Ice got back from the Land of the Dead, unmarried and mostly unscathed, everyone though he had gone crazy on those days he was gone because he kept crying out for someone named 'Pete' and insisting he needed to go back to him.

The only reason his parents didn't send him to the asylum was because Ron threatened them if they did so.

Ron was also the first person to whom Tom ran to after he got back from the Land of the Dead.

Bradley goes after Tom a few days after the man is gone because his Uncle Mav is sad - Chaos ensue

Charlie was the widow that Pete wanted to marry at the time.

For now, I think that's it. This AU has consumed me and I'm probably going to write something for it as soon as my semester ends.

You Have the Wrong Guy - in which everyone is giving Jake the shovel talk when it was Bradley who broke off their first relationship - Exs to Lovers, ft. dagger squad and class of 86’

Unpacking - how each of the daggers (and Mav) find out about trans!Jake - not romance centered but has the development and destruction and ultimately getting back together of Hangster, Javy is the best friend ever and deserves all the love, this is very self indulgent

Running - Jake has ran his whole life. If no one can catch up to him no one can leave him. Then he meets Javy. The man seemingly has unlimited patience and always seems to be a step ahead of Jake. - character study, Macheresin, Jake has an absent father and issuesTM

Ballett AU (unnamed) - In which Ice is a Ballet instructor and Mav takes care of Amelia for Penny when he’s not test piloting the military’s newest planes. - plenty of misunderstandings, Icemav endgame but mistaken Mav/Penny, Penny&Sarah friendship

Dinner for Three - when Beau gets an invite to the Mitchell-Kazansky household he figures it’s something to do with the dagger squad, after all the first (and only other time) he was invited over was to celebrate the success of the dagger mission, what he was not expecting was a fancy dinner cooked by the handsome couple that are blatantly flirting with him. This is some cosmic joke, right? - Cyclone/Maverick/Iceman, might end up being smut but won’t promise anything, ft. Cyclone having a massive crush on Ice and reluctant feelings (ew) for Mav, surprise they like him too, Bradley shows up in here for some reason

Dadmral - the obligatory fic in which the dagger squad finds out Mav is married to the COMPACFLT - Pov Phoenix which is different for me lol, some texting, dagger squad and class 86’, Icemav, Ice is alive, Rooster gets smothered by his uncles who have missed him

Coming Home - Rooster fixes his relationship with Mav while working on the Mustang and getting awful (and some good) relationship advice - Icemav, Hangster, Mavdad, Icepops

Goose Been Knew - in which Goose has to deal with idiot pilots who clearly love each other (twice), don’t worry he has a lovely wife and partner to go complain to. - Goose lives, Icemav, Hangster, Slooserole, really just short bits of Goose putting up with Mav and then Rooster

Guitar - Bradley owns a guitar for reasons completely unrelated to his ex who he’s definitely not still in love with. That would be crazy. They’ve been apart for years. - Hangster Exs to Lovers, bitter Hangman, Phoenix and Javy are DONE, the rest of the dagger squad are confused

A Series of Weddings - Tom and Pete get married for the first time in 91’ despite what the world tells them they can do, they talk about it in 2011, they get married legally in 2013 when Ice is diagnosed with Cancer, talk about redoing vows and throwing an actual celebration in 2015 (they don’t), redo their vows in the spring of 2021. In 2023 they attend the Bradley’s wedding. - this is honestly one of my favs, inspired by this post, Icemav, no relapse of cancer, lots of weddings, love, and fluff, Hangster at the end, class of 86’

“What do you mean we only have two rooms?” Ice tried to be polite, but was quickly losing patience.

The receptionist smiled fakely. “I'm sorry, sir. It's just that. There are only two rooms available at this time.”

Ice, Maverick, Slider, and Goose had been sent to a conference by Jester and Viper. They were told there would be rooms available for each of them. Apparently not. Mav and Goose hadn't shown up yet.

“It's alright, ma’am. It isn't your fault.” Slider butts in graciously.

Her smile seemed more genuine now. “Here are your keys. Enjoy your stay.”

“Thank you.”

The two walk towards the elevator. Ice hands Slider the other key. Just as the elevator doors open, Mav and Goose come barreling into the hotel. Nick tosses his bag to Mav, who catches it and rushes to the elevator. Goose grins at them and goes to sign in. The doors close. They stand there silently. It's awkward, but none of them make any effort to converse.

The elevator finally hit their floor with a gratifying ding. The two rooms were only a couple doors apart. Mav went towards one, Slider and himself towards the other. Ice unlocked the door with a sigh before freezing in the doorway.

There's only one bed.

“Are you fucking serious, man? Only one?”

“It's fine. It's only two nights.”

“You better not wake me up at the asscrack of dawn.”

“No promises.”

The boys had gone out for a drink.

Things had gotten…..

……out of hand.

Slider and Goose had gotten more than a little drunk. They were also very bad at hiding their horniness for each other. Without Carole to calm them down, they were insatiable. They didn't usually room together for that reason, but it seemed that tonight was an exception. Mav and Ice had to physically separate the two in the hotel lobby.

Ice unlocked his door and slapped the key onto the nearest table. He grabbed his bag and all but ran out of the room. He had no intention of getting in Nick and Ron’s way. Mav watched from outside the door, barely holding in laughter.

“By god, those two are like rabbits without Carole.”

Maverick barks a laugh. “Oh man, you don't want to know. Sometimes I have to watch Bradley overnight when they get home. It's awful.”

“The amount of times I've had to lecture him about making out in the locker room is ridiculous.”

Mav opened the door and shucked off his bomber jacket. Ice set his bag down near the wall and took out his toothbrush and some sweats. He swiftly headed for the bathroom.

As he was preparing for bed, he heard Mav clear his throat from the main room. “I can take the floor. You're an old man and need the bed more.”

Ice scoffed as he tied the drawstring to his pants. “First of all, I am not that much older than you. More importantly, there's enough space on that bed for the both of us.”

“I don't want to make you uncomfortable.”

He flicked off the bathroom light and pulled off his tee, leaving him in only his tank top. “You won't. It's only for a couple nights.”

Maverick sighed but didn't argue further. He trotted into the bathroom to change. Ice pretended not to see a pink flush on Mav’s cheeks. Just drunk.

He sat on one side of the bed, hoping he wouldn't have to deal with anything….. awkward in the morning.

Ice had dozed off pretty quickly. He slept peacefully. And he was so beautiful.

Maverick wasn't as lucky.

Hop 31. Flying into a jetwash. Going into a flatspin and losing control of the plane. Ejecting.

Nick was lucky to be alive, and more so to still be flying. He'd been in a coma for almost two months.

His fault. He almost cost his best friend his life. He would've left Carole a widow, left Bradley fatherless.

Pete woke up in a cold sweat, tears streaming down his face. He sat up, trying to breathe. Ice stirred, and he cursed himself for not being quieter.

“Mav?” Ice asked blearily, “Are you okay?”

“I'm Fine.” He failed to hide the distress in his voice.

Tom sat up, brows furrowed. “What's wrong?”

“Nothing.”

“Bullshit.”

“It —” Mav sighed. “It was just a nightmare. I'm fine.”

Ice was silent for a moment.

“Was it Hop 31?”

Damn it. “Yes.”

Ice wrapped him in a tight hug. Mav froze, but it was only for a second. He buried his head into Ice’s chest, trying to stop crying. Ice slowly laid them back down, not breaking the hug. They laid like that for a while, silent and calming.

“Pete? You know it wasn't your fault, right?”

“I was the one steering the plane. I'm responsible for my RIO.”

“But it wasn't your fault. It was my jetwash. And it was an accident.”

“It's still my responsibility.”

“People care about you, Pete. We want you to be happy. No one blames you.”

‘We?’

“You care about me?”

Tom readjusted to look Pete in the eyes. “You have no idea.”

“Then give me an idea.”

Tom hesitated. “I don't know if you'll take this the wrong way, but I really care about you. I love you so much. I want you to be happy.”

Pete froze.

“You love me?”

“I do.”

“I think I love you too.”

Ice stares at him, searching. Then he leans forward and presses his lips to Pete's. He responds instantly, reaching up to rake hands through Tom’s hair. They kiss the way they fly. Ebbing and flowing, giving and taking.

And god, it's perfect.

They break apart, Pete smiling as bright as the sun. Ice watches him lovingly. He pecks s kiss to Mav's hair before resting his chin on it. Mav nestles deeper into the hug, attaching himself to Tom like a koala. Tom couldn't bring himself to care. He waited and listened as Pete's breathing evened out. I love you, Pete Mitchell. I love you I love you I love you.

They were woken up by banging on their door. Ice didn't want to move.

“Go away, we're sleeping.”

“Get up, freaks! Stop banging your boytoy and come on!” Slider yelled from outside.

Pete stirred and Ice wanted to burn a hole in the door. “What's going on?” He was so cute when he was sleepy.

“Slider's about to get castrated.”

“Oh. Loser.” He buried his head deeper into Tom’s chest.

He could hear Goose’s laughter from outside. He sighed and kissed Pete's hair. “I love you.”

“I love you, too.”

“We have to get up.”

“Don't wanna.”

“I know, but Slider is gonna break down the door if we don't, and I don't want to pay that fee.”

Pete sighed and unhooked himself from Tom. He pressed a kiss to his cheek before sliding off the bed to go open the door.

Tom stared as Pete sauntered to the door, unashamed. He was gonna kill Slider for ruining his morning, but maybe he'd thank him for being the reason it happened in the first place.

Nah, he'd just kick his ass.

Hello everyone! :) I recently followed two artists who've been on Tumblr for a while. I discovered them only by chance, because people I follow reblogged their stuff at some point (see the importance of reblogging? :D). And I thought 'What a pity, I wish I knew they existed before!'. This is how I started thinking about creating another blog. Some kind of adress book if you like. What I hope to achieve with this TG/TGM sideblog (yet to be created, but I'm figuring things out) is to give people the chance to make themselves known in one same place, and thus to allow them to seek similar people creating content they could possibly like, or even to be curious and go check totally new content! :)

By content, I mean Art - Fic Rec - Fics - Gif/Gifset - Moodboard - Playlist - Podfic - Other (Then specify 🤗) I don't see myself hunting down Tumblr people, so I created this form to gather information in a more organised and accurate way. What happens in Annapolis, doesn’t stay in Annapolis

Me and @pollyna wanted to dive in what happened in Annapolis with three of our fave aviators, and it turned out in another idea storm that I will try to put here.

Tom, Ron and Nick are not close at the beginning in the school. Ron and Tom realize they are good team in some group work they were put together for so they stick together from there on. Slider seeing Iceman as younger brother that he needs to keep safe. He had seen indications of stuff but he can’t get the glimpse of because while he is around no one dares to touch Iceman.

One day Slider is not around and year older students are hounding Tom for his surname sounding not American enough. Iceman just ignores them because he knows that is because he broke all of their records but that seems to irritate those men more. They push out chair from under Tom but the fall doesn’t come. He looks up and this tall man has caught him. He smiles down at Tom and then turns attention to Iceman's bullies. If you thought the man was warm and soft, he went to furious in seconds and absolutely scolds these upper class-mans. It is not only instance Nick comes and saves Tom’s arse. From that moment Tom calls him fondly “Mother Goose”, he is only one allowed to call him that freely because he is Tom’s mother goose.

Tom introduces Slider to Goose and they start teasing each other straight up. Slider loves that Goose can handle his taunts and give back as good as he gets. All in all, perfect man for Ron. Iceman knows his best friend is slowly falling hard for their new friend. Tom thinks Ron would have kissed Nick after he went off on Iceman’s bullies again. Ice hopes he won’t need to pick up pieces of his friend.

Ron is ready to tell Nick about his feelings. It is few weeks till their graduation. They are meant to meet up in their usual spot, to celebrate their last training session. He is last to arrive, his anxiety got best of him. There is blonde with Nick and Ron’s heart is sinking slowly with implication what this could mean. The blonde’s name is Carole. She is as nice and lively as Nick. Tom squeezes his thigh under the table in reassurance. Slider survives trough dinner and gosh, he wants to dislike or hate Carole for stealing Goose from him but he can’t. She is just that lovely and maybe some part of him already cares about her. Slider reassures himself that this is better because this keeps all of them safe. He can forget Goose and move on.

Ron keeps his distance from Nick. That confuses Nick to no end and Tom doesn’t tell anything either because he is damn good friend. Nick tells Carole about it and she hugs him for hours because she knows how much taller man means to her Nick. She herself had a tiny crush on the bigger man because look at that specimen. Right now there was more important things like helping Goose get out of his slump.

Iceman may have kept his distance from Goose but he promised to write to Mother Goose so he could know that both him and Ron are safe. Tom got letters and postcards back that he left in most noticeable places so Slider could find them. Ice knew that the man couldn’t keep himself away from them. Iceman tried not to get into middle of it all. Goose had sent him polaroid camera from his own shop, saying that now Ice can send him some pictures that he can put on fridge. Nick had given up on being in air, especially with Carole being due with their first born. He wanted to be on solid ground and see his kid grow up. Goose already was going grey when he went a month without letter from Tom.

Last letter from Tom was filled with pictures of Ron who seemed to have gotten more handsome. Carole agreed with him fully. She suggested that they should talk with Ron when they are back on solid ground for the leave. She knew that Nick wouldn’t be brave enough to do it so she slipped extra page of paper in there for Iceman because she knew that man has their best intentions at heart. Nick had added their little family picture that was taken in hospital after Bradley was born.

In last sent out letters from the ship, Iceman sends out two - one for Goose and Carole with one single picture of Ron having their sent family picture on bedside table with Slider sleeping in bed and one for Carole with the address for the house he and Ron will be spending the leave. Goose tears up, running fingers over the photography. He puts it in most noticeable spot on their fridge. Carole goes on tip toes to kiss Nick and says: “See! We really have to talk with him.”

Then after like 45 minutes Nick comes rushing in, not looking better than Carole. Kid must have put them trough real bender. Goose does not see Slider who is still in kitchen with Bradley in his arms. Bradley had sent both strange men toothy grin and they have melted. Ice had brought in one of the bags Carole had left near the door. Ron was changing the nappies when he heard Nick’s voice, sounding so worried about his wife and kid. Tom reassured him that baby goose was in safe hands, safest hands in navy to be exact. Iceman had ushered Goose in bedroom where his wife was sleeping. This is not what he expected from today.

Carole gives Tom and Ron few days to settle down in being back on land, but Bradley seems to be picking up her anxiety and restlessness by crying more than he has ever. Not sleeping well. She is grasping at straws here. So Carole packs all things Bradley and her need, leaving note for Nick when he comes home for his lunch break and where to find them. She packs them in car and Bradley has quieted down a bit, too. Carole knocks on the doors and Iceman opens them a bit surprised. He let’s her in because she looks so tired. She drops all bags near the doors and goes into the kitchen, finding Slider there. Ron turns around to have baby put in his arms, the taller man is absolutely shocked but holds the baby securely.

“Tom, show me the guest bedroom. I need some sleep.”

Tom has to go and run errands. So Ron takes baby upstairs to his room with all the stuff Carole dropped in hallway when she came in.

“You know your parents are real weird but I really can see appeal of them.” Ron explains to baby who just gives him toothy grin again. Somehow Slider falls asleep with baby goose on his chest. His hand on baby's back to keep him there. All safe and protected here under roof of house Ron calls home for next month at least. That is how Carole and Nick find them, after they had looked all around the house and found no signs of anyone else. It just melts them even more, sealing the deal in their hearts. Just seeing their son look so cozy on chest of the man they have feelings for. Also Bradley hadn’t been that calm for any of the two of them. Carole looks at Nick with shining eyes and whispers: “We must bring him home, Nick.”

“I know but will he not think we are messed up for suggesting it. Even after the photo Tom sent us. I am worried.”

“If he did than he would have put us out of their house when we came by and trusted baby on him. We can ease him in it. Not like we will ambush him straight away.”

“We kinda did with all this.” Nick says, having his wife elbow him in sides. “I get it, darling, I get it. We both needed this break. And ok, lets try it. But Ron will be the one to set the pace.”

“Agreed! Now let’s go make some dinner to Tom and Ron as a thank you.”

Before Goose joins Carole in kitchen. He grabs Iceman’s camera that he himself gifted the man and takes pictures of Ron and Bradley sleeping. One of them joins the one he sent Ice on Ron’s bedside table.

Ice coming home to house filled with smell of home cooked dinner and weirdly his and Sliders home feels more homey. They have been there for two days and it is on base quarters so you can only try to make it more homey. But of course Bradshaw couple could do it in couple hours.

“What is all this?” asks Tom coming in kitchen that looks like all you can eat buffet.

“Oh, this is 'Thank you, Thomas, for kicking us in the arse' dinner.” answered Carole who was putting last dishes on table in the kitchen, followed by Goose and glasses.

“I think this is more like steal my RIO with love and food kind of dinner. You know he has it bad for both of you. Have you talked with him?”

“Not yet. He is sleeping with Bradley. We could not have a heart to wake them up.”

“Yeah, Ron needs to rest. Knowing him, he soon will be down.” as Ice uttered the words, there could have been heard the steps on wooden floor.

When Slider woke up, he thought it all was dream but then he started to feel weight on his chest. Here it was, baby goose on his chest. Ok, not a dream at all. He breathed in and smell of properly home cooked meal reached his nostrils. It was time to get up. Ron hasn’t had any proper food in him. He walked in kitchen to see two people he cared about bustling around the kitchen while Ice had already sat down by table, waiting for others to sit down to start to eat.

“They are gonna stuff us so full, we won’t fit in the planes, Ice.”

“I am not gonna complain, Slider.” said Tom who already could see his friend, looking happier. Good, Ron deserved all the happiness after heartache.

My head cannons on how some of the top gun couples sleep. This kinda ended up being a lot of Slooserole but that ship needs love so. Also clearly, fuck cannon I’ll write my fluff in which Goose is so clearly alive. This is just 86’ but if people are interested I have TG:M couples cuddling headcanons too.

Icemav early on in their relationship is just Ice on the edge of the bed struggling to stay on bc Maverick starfishes and hogs the bed. It’s truly impressive how such a small man can take up so much space. Eventually it turns into Maverick treating Ice as his own stuffed animal which he hugs in his sleep, Ice just deals with the human barnacle because he’s cute.

Slooserole - Nick and Carole are very tactical, their primary love language is touch so it’s not that much of a surprise that they cuddle in bed. It’s just Silder wasn’t expecting them to both sandwich him in-between them and not let him go the first time he sleeps over. They switch up how they cuddle but more often than not Carole is getting hugged on both sides by her two hunks.

Of course they aren’t all always together,

Carole and Nick hug in their sleep if it’s just the two of them, in the morning it’s always a mess of limbs because their legs get tangled together and they can’t get out of bed without waking the other and someone’s arm or leg is always numb but it’s worth it to be so close to the person they love all night.

Carole and Slider usually end up spooning but it would surprise most people to find out that Slider likes to be the little spoon. She’ll wrap her arms over his shoulders and hold him. Slider jokes she’s just like a Koala bear.

Nick and Slider are awkward when they sleep together. Mainly because they didn’t get the chance all that often. On ships they can’t exactly show any affection for each other much less sleep in the same bed, and when they’re home Carole is almost always there. But there are times that she’s not there and it’s just the two of them. It starts with Nick just kinda hugging Slider from behind like Carole does but after the first few times of this Slider starts to hold Nick instead and that’s how Carole finds them when she get home, Slider holding Nick to his chest like a raccoon holds onto shiny objects. They are adorable. (Even as adorable as they are she lets Bradley wake them up by jumping on the bed. The kid definitely lands on more than a few tender body parts.)

Hollywolf is just Leo laid on top of Rick. They got use to sleeping like this on carriers because there’s no room to cuddle in the bunks. They’ve always been affectionate and by being careful they got away with this practice until they retired from the navy to fly commercial.

Now they have a nice large bed at home, and in every hotel they stay at while flying commercial planes, but Leo still climbs on top of Rick to sleep like a cat on its owner. (They find other ways to make use of the larger beds 😏)
