how to roll back your game version & play the early access version of bg3
because all the people in my notes talking about being sad about never getting to play during ea are making me sad. you can still get in there!! easily!! and you don't even have to uninstall the current version to do it! you can have the current game & the ea version at the same time and switch between them by just moving around a few files
all you need to do is follow a slightly tweaked version of this guide on how to roll back your game to a previous version--slightly tweaked in that this is a guide for people whose games are broken and yours isn't (hopefully?) but more on that in a sec
you need two different id numbers to download, the "main" depot's (1086941) and the "bin" depot's (1419652). the very last update to the early access game before its full release was hotfix #32. if you're just interested in playing the early access version in general, i'd suggest going with this one! but i'll also be putting in the ids for the various other patches for anyone interested in earlier versions of ea
the "main" (1086941) id is 2986558115270870303 and the "bin" (1419652) is 3491586966951526173, so in step 3, your console commands would be "download_depot 1086940 1086941 2986558115270870303" and then "download_depot 1086940 1419652 3491586966951526173" (without the quotation marks)
after you've gotten that downloaded, those slight tweaks come into play. since your game is (hopefully) not broken, in step 6, when it tells you to "Go to %LocalAppData%\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3\ and delete there everything except PlayerProfiles folder," make a new folder somewhere easily accessible (i just keep mine on my desktop homescreen), give it a recognizable name like "bg3 full release" or smth, and toss all those files into it for safekeeping instead of deleting them
then, make a copy of the PlayerProfiles folder to go into %LocalAppData%\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3, and continue with the rest of the guide from there
hopefully, everything should work and you'll be able to play the early access version!
if you need to make space, you can just delete the files in %LocalAppData%\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3, replace them with the original files from this folder that you moved to their own folder earlier, and go back to playing the full version of the game
OR if you have enough space and just want to go back to playing the full release version for a while with the option to go back to ea later, you can make a second folder in that same easily accessible location, name it something like "bg3 ea," and move the ea files from %LocalAppData%\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3 there for safekeeping while you switch the original files back in. and then whenever you want to go back to ea, you just switch them out again!
if you just want to play ea generally, that's all there is to it, but for anyone interested in the earlier versions, i'm also including the ids for everything back to patch 5 or 6 (more on that below) under the cut!
steamdb's "main" depot ids go back all the way to the beginning of early access in october 2020, but the "bin" ids only go back to september 2021. i have no idea why or if there's a way to get around this to allow access to the super early versions of the game (let me know if you know), but from what i recall, most of the big changes came post-patch 6 (which dropped in october 2021), so i don't think you're missing all that much here
i'm going to list 2 different versions for each patch--the version of the patch that dropped and then the very last hotfix of that patch that was released before the next patch's release. i strongly recommend using the pre-patch hotfix versions since they'll be the ones that's already fixed any major bugs found in the patch, including the ones that caused crashes (which weren't common but did very much happen from time to time), but since there were sometimes changes made in the hotfixes between patches, i'm including the raw, sometimes buggy initial patch itself, too, for anyone who wants the true ea experience
whenever a patch dropped, there was usually a patch announcement post that included a long list of everything added/changed and a community update post that highlighted & went into more detail about some of the biggest, most significant additions/changes shortly after. i'll be linking both of them for each version so you can see what was added in each patch & decide which you'd like to see!

the oldest entry of a "bin" id is from september 16, 2021. there are no community posts or hotfix announcements from that day, and i haven't tested it myself, so... possible pre-patch 6 version? but i'm not sure! if anyone tries this one, please do let me know

Help Moffy replace her 10 year old computer! <3 (Commissions Open!)
I'm in the market for a new computer, what I have right now is a laptop, but I've love to have a desktop again for the option of a bigger screen to aid my poor eyesight. I've been saving pocket change and extra cash since January, and currently have about $300, but I really want a nice computer able to last at least another ten years.
My current computer is often slow, and even running Firefox alone can be a chore, much less photoshop. (And don't even get my started on PS, the amount of loading screens I see just for cropping my scans is outrageous---and it didn't used to do that) This computer worked well for a number of years and USED to be a beast, but I feel if I wait too much longer, it may just die on my unexpectedly. That's why I'd love some help saving for a new one! (It's actually already died once and been brought back to life lmao. that's a story)
I know this is technically a WANT and not a NEED, but in some ways I feel I do need it just to keep up with this blog and my art. I'm also starting a new business venture soon with my art, and have even joined some local art shows. I need easy access to photoshop for that. With all that said, I am humbly asking for some commissions/donations. I'm trying to get something that can handle multiple heavy duty programs at once, and while I don't have one picked out yet, I'd like to save at least $800 before I start seriously shopping.
I have commissions open year around, but rarely do I get any. On my ko-fi I offer up lots of services, from writing and editing with everything $8 and under. (example: I offer crappy ms paint doodles, drabbles, letters from Jonathan, edits, etc) I would really appreciate some commissions/shop downloads or if you feel so generously, a donation.
Ko-Fi: MistressOfFear
PayPal: Paypal.me.Mistressoffear
CashApp: $CranesMistressOfFear
GOAL: $300 out of $800
PS: Don't feel obligated to help, only if you can do so yourself safely. I know this all may seem selfish, but kindness knows no bounds. Y'all helped me afford a new tablet when my old one died, so I am already extremely grateful. The batman rogues fandom has been so sweet to me over the years, and for that I feel loved and in need or saying: thank you <3

The Algorithm is AI Art
Last year, I used DALL-E to create a series of images for a digital tarot card deck I was making for my personal use. When I shared some of those images here on my blog, I got a massive amount of push back and even threats in my inbox. I'm still putting my thoughts together on that experience but it did make me realize that most people don't seem to realize they're supporting the AI art they hate so much - to the tune of millions and even billions of dollars per year depending on the platform - almost everyday through the algorithms they use.
So if you genuinely hate AI art, I'm here to tell you that you've got to do what you can to get rid of and not use the algorithms in your life. That kind of support is more materially complicit with AI's intrusion on art than someone making a few images for themself ever could be.
Yes It's Possible
For many platforms, especially when they're accessed on desktop, it is possible to greatly reduce your contact with the algorithm. I use browser extensions to cut out the AI curated feeds on YouTube, Facebook, and Reddit. I mostly use Instagram on desktop to answer messages.
I generally do not use Instagram, Facebook, and other apps that do not allow users to control their feed on mobile. I know Instagram is mobile only - when I use it on mobile, I download it, upload what I want, then delete the app again.
I am considering cutting these out entirely again once this phase of my experiment for a zine I'm writing is over because honestly, they're not worth it, but that's a different post...
I also really recommend either making a separate email account or getting ruthlessly organized in your current one, so that you can sign up for artist's newsletters and other forms of human centered curation. RSS readers like Feedly can also be a good alternative.
The point here isn't perfection - the point is doing what you can. Not because it will change companies - but because it's better for you and the artists you care about.
Why?
Algorithms in these spaces determine who's work gets shown and more importantly - who gets paid enough to continue making their art.
AI has consistently been shown to reproduce and even exaggerate biases already present in society. This video by Ann Reardon of How to Cook That talks about YouTube's lack of transparency about the potential for a sexist bias in YouTube's algorithm and shows that in the top views at least, there's a clear slant toward male creators. The only woman in the top 10 does not show her face in her videos - unlike most of the men in the top 10. This discrepancy is even larger the further down the list you go.
Who gets shown is who gets paid enough to keep making their content/art. Less pay means people can afford to put out less content/art and can't scale - meaning less diversity in content/art.
What art gets shown influences what inspires new art and content to be made. You are seeing art directly shaped by AI everyday - and more than that - by continuing to click on what it serves up to you, you support it.
This AI influence on real world art has become so normalized that people consider it as natural a force of nature as wind. It's not. This was designed - and it can be redesigned.
I want to be careful not to overstate the influence of a click either - your clicking on something you choose is not a form of activism. Your clicks cannot retrain the algorithm at scale. A lot of people have the misconception that you can train "your" algorithm but what the algorithm on your feeds is doing is actually comparing your clicks to it's database of similar user profiles and their behaviors to decide what to suggest to you. Your clicks don't retrain the AI as a whole, they just match you with a different user type.
The real reason I think those concerned about AI in art need to find ways to take control of their feeds is because it ensures you're able to support a diverse array of creators through your views and it ensures that what you're taking your inspiration from isn't what the AI decides is worthy of attention.
I realize there are those who are reading this who either might not have been old enough to remember or even weren't born when YouTube basically took your Subscriptions off the front page. It used to be they would pop up at the top of the front page. Then it got knocked down on the front page. When it got shoved into it's own sidebar link and then that link progressively minimized through redesigns - there was actually an outcry about it.
People warned that this would lead to a watering down effect, where smaller channels didn't get the chance to grow like already established ones would. Creators of marginalized identities saw their views drop dramatically. Similar things happened when Facebook and Instagram fully took away a user's ability to have a chronological feed (this was possible in the early days). I know of more than a few creators who fully had to step away from their work because of the change over. I miss their art.
And then the outcry petered out. The companies didn't lose users over it so nothing changed. Eventually people got used to it and the protests went away. These companies now know they're "too big to fail" and can ignore user outcry until people acclimate the new normal that serves them. This normal serves them because it does actually increase engagement and keeps you on the platform for longer - which means less time spent on your own creative activities, yet another way they impact what art gets made.
TL;DR: if you hate AI's impact on artists and their employment opportunities, take control of your feeds. Make your own. Choose what you click. Take back your time and make more art.

Hello everyone!! We're looking to pick up possibly one or two mods to help with the workload, if anyone is interested! It's been a bit difficult to maintain 13 posts/day between the two of us, and with enough help, we should be able to maintain that queue rate or maybe even increase it a little! There's also some things that would be really nice to do if all of the time we spent dedicated to the blog wasn't just making sure the queue didn't empty out haha
If you're interested, please send an ask off-anon, and I'll DM you from my main when I can! If you don't allow DMs from your main, you can also give a different way to contact you as well in your ask! (Like the URL of a sideblog with DMs open!) Thank you !!
More info under the cut!!
The main modding responsibilities include:
Gathering album information into the planning spreadsheet.
Taking that information and drafting the posts to queue them.
Less importantly, helping keep track of links for posted polls and copying over the poll results.
These can largely be completed independently, aside from any obvious ordering restrictions (can't queue a post if you don't have the data put together), so if, for any reason, you're only able to do one of the first two on a temporary or even permanent basis, it would still be a lot of help.
In terms of technological requirements, all information can be accessed on websites free-of-charge, two require a (free) account to get access to the album images, and everything can be done strictly in-browser if needed. We do use Google Sheets for the planning sheet, but I don't think you need a Google account to edit/access it. I do not think this is something that is reasonable to do on mobile, so you would need access to a desktop/laptop computer.
I think things can be made considerably easier if you can use some non-browser programs. I personally use a Windows 10 computer + Firefox for my own workflow, but things aren't impossible without it for sure! There's always more than one way to do things. I have no idea what potential difficulties may occur for someone who is a Mac + Safari user, for instance. Oh! And in terms of communication, Discord is best, so it would be helpful if that's something you use as well!
Also we're all here to have fun so like this isn't a job much less a role with strict expectations, so it doesn't have to be like a primary responsibility for you or anything like that!
Also apologies if I take a bit to get back to anyone who does send a message! I'm multitasking between my job and some other obligations so I might not see any notifications right away, and I need to coordinate adding any new mods with my co-mod so there might be a bit of waiting involved unfortunately!! Thank you so much to anyone who reaches out though !!

OKAY. NOW THAT I GOT MY SANCTIMONIOUS FINGER-WAGGING OUT OF THE WAY....
Tumblr media
...Kinda!
I had to take a break, and sure enough, the day I WANTED to come back, the computer I use to write with fucking fried. So a friend and I tried our best to troubleshoot it. We thought the problem was the power supply unit failing, but uh, nope! Turns out my entire motherboard just went kablooey! This is perfect timing, as I just bought a fucking car and I lost the job I had. I built the fried computer seven years ago and today, I learned that the motherboard's chipset is no longer being manufactured. So that means I have two options: either start building a new PC altogether or take a gamble on a used, but compatible motherboard.
If I don't have a computer then how am I back? Am I RPing using Tumblr mobile? GOD NO. I hate navigating that app, trying to get it to do anything other than lag, destroy the aspect ratio of your icons, and demolish the formatting of your posts is just like pulling teeth...Except it's worse than pulling teeth because at least at the dentist, you can opt to get high on nitrous oxide when getting that kind of work done. PLUS UH, I don't technically have a phone. I busted mine a while back and am currently borrowing my mom's. Just another thing to spend money I don't have on. 8')
I am currently using a hand-me-down laptop that I obtained as a gift for building a new desktop computer for my dad early this year. The thing is around... 15 years old a this point, and despite how hard I tried to fix this thing, it freezes regularly, overheats and the fans constantly and the CPU just CHUGS. So far I've been able to get by doing very simple work on it and that's going to be the case for the time being.
SO...
Thanks to the limitations I am currently facing, I will be unable to use icons in my RP threads for the time being. They're saved onto the fried desktop computer and I have no way of accessing them currently. It's not a huge loss because I'm not thrilled with my icons but I know some people like to use them, so I apologize for the lack of etiquette there, haha.
Since this laptop suffers like hell doing anything even slightly taxing, I will not be picking up old RPs right now. Most of them are multiple reblogs in and are novel-length, which is typically how I prefer to write. I just know that if i try to open those threads in my drafts and make any changes to them, the browser will freeze and crash. So for the time being, I will just start new, smaller threads rather than try to work on anything I have saved currently.
I AM NOT DROPPING OUR THREADS. I VERY MUCH INTEND TO CONTINUE THEM AND RESPOND TO OUR RPS WHEN I AM ABLE TO GET MY HANDS ON A DEVICE THAT WON'T CRASH WHEN WRITING LARGER POSTS!!!
So, just to reiterate: I will be keeping everything saved and I will NOT be working on any our old RP threads due to the limitations of the 15 year old laptop that I'm currently running. For the time being, I WILL ONLY be writing and participating in new, small RPs. Thank you so much for your understanding. If you have any questions, feel free to send 'em my way!.. And as always, Gan's askbox is open! <3

I keep seeing posts being like "omg. The kids don't know how to use computer! They don't know how to use a mouse! They don't know what a command line is! They can't even use a browser. The kids don't know anything about technology if not app on phone:("
And idk dude like. I'm not gonna accuse these people of lying but I am gonna accuse them of being completely biased with absolutely no self reflection at all. You sound like your parents. Like holy shit. First of all, LOTS of us [aged<20] have had computer classes. "Computer lab" was a class all throughout primary school for me, and in grade 8 I had a required course where I learned some Python, had to use Adobe Photoshop, that kind of stuff. I know so many people who go further than that (including myself) and take elective coding classes. Now, it would be incredibly fucking biased of me to conclude that, because almost everyone I know is at the very least functional with a computer and can use a mouse, this means everyone is. Of course not. But thats what these posts do. "I only interact with children who don't know this, therefore no one under 20 knows anything and they're all stupid with their little tik toks" you have a very incomplete sample of kids at this age, and you barely acknowledge it.
Secondly, more on the self reflection bit. This is absolutely a privilege issue. Not a "the kids are so dumbb omggg" issue. Kids don't have computer classes? It's a privilege I was able to get that education. Should we mock people who didn't have music classes growing up and don't know the difference between a rhythm and a beat? If your answer to that is no, then maybe we shouldn't mock kids for not knowing the difference between a search engine and a browser. I know plenty of people bring up the issue to try and get at this, but I cant shake the undertone that all of these posts have in common, which is essentially this air of superiority, like people who grew up with desktop computer access are somehow better than people who didn't, which is just kind of terrible?? Like no joke, I've seen people complaining about uni students who don't really know the ins and outs of programming yet in undergrad and its like,,, did you just not want them to go to school because they didn't know that prior to post secondary? Like, what do you think school is for? Being perfect all the time and telling the teacher that you know everything already? I was under the impression that school was for acquiring knowledge and skills that you previously didnt have.
I also know people who are much older than me, and could have been coding all of their life, but didn't so much as touch a computer until after college, and they learned how to use it, and how to code, and now it's their career! You don't need to learn how computers work when you are five! I grew up scribbling on ms paint and being confused how solitaire worked, and struggling to comprehend minesweeper strategy on a very old version of Windows. I could functionally operate a mouse at the age of one, and that's all privilege. I'm not smarter, or better or more refined or anything, I was literally just born into a family that had desktop computers. And again, to point out the bias, I know way more adults that fit the whole "don't understand it if it's not an app on my phone" than kids.
Finally, a minor nitpick but I feel like it's warranted since the people authouring these posts often present themselves as being more knowledgeable about computers than the average teen? Don't go just saying incorrect bullshit. If you mean PC, say pc. If you mean a desktop computer, or a laptop, say that. Phones are not "fake computers" they just ARE computers. They are computers that have been engineered to be tiny. Their size does not mean they are not computers, it just means they are small. Furthermore, an "app" isn't a "thing u use on a phone." It's literally just the word application shortened. Anytime you use an application that you download on a laptop, or a pc or whatever, you are using an app. Your browser application is an app. I hate to tell you, but it must be said.
Sorry if anything I said in this is straight up wrong, I am not immune to hypocrisy, yadda yadda you know the deal. I also AM NOT an expert on computers, I have (what I, a teenager consider to be) a relatively baseline understanding of computers. And I'm writing this exhausted because I can't sleep. Admittedly on the mobile app, (which explains any typos) but I swear to you that I have a laptop and I use it more than I use my phone most days. I doubt anyone will really see this post but thanks for reading if you got this far I guess. Maybe let's just not fearmonger about "the kids these days" when we should be trying to help kids become functioning adults. I didn't get past my struggles with reading as a kid by being told that I was stupid, or getting mocked. I got past them by finding a book that I loved, and by being encouraged to read by adults who genuinely cared about my education. I really don't see how computers are different, that's all I have to say.

Note
hi hashtagloveloses,
I'm a new user and saw your post about reblogs. Is there anything else I should pay attention to? Could you tell me if there is a post or guide or something I can consult on how tumblr works? I'm still getting really lost here and have trouble finding anything.
there’s actually an official staff blog with a bunch of good tips called @tips everybody should know about! but off the top of my head also:
1) make sure you have a profile photo. you don’t need a cover photo you can even just turn that off in your blog settings. this is to make sure people don’t think you’re a bot
2) have a different username here than you have other places and don’t share personal information of any kind here (huge mistake i made….). despite what some people say you do not need to share anything about ur sexuality, pronouns, diagnoses, opinions, etc. frankly if i could advise my younger self, i’d say just don’t make original posts or comments at all (if u wanna make commentary in reblog tags maybe?). use a diary or a journal instead of original posts about yourself or your opinions or comments on others’ posts. even if you delete your blog or change your username, the reblogs of things you say live on here forever.
4) reblog instead of like, and tag posts with what they’re about when you post and reblog (this is something i don’t do as much as i should bc im often on mobile and don’t feel like it and only do it for original posts). at least make sure you’re tagging for common content warnings and spoilers. don’t censor words in posts or tags if you’re trying to tag, bc that breaks people’s mute/blocklists. DO censor words/tags if you’re talking about something you don’t want to clog the tag for or attract attention to or something.
5) if you personally want to keep track of original posts, asks, and queued posts, create tags you use for each of those and on mobile manually tag with them every time you do one of those posts, and on desktop you can have an extension do it. in your blog settings you can make like your original post tag one of your “featured tags” if you want easy access, or other people to be able to see, which just means when they hit the search bar on your blog it’s suggested.
6) make sure you go to your dashboard settings and turn OFF “best things first”. i keep on the other algorithmic stuff like showing stuff based on likes as well, and i flip between the various feeds, but most of what you should be doing is following blogs that post or reblog what you like, following the TAGS of things you like, and those will appear chronologically in your regular dash “following” feed.
7) freely block, unfollow, and filter/mute people and topics. do not feel like you have any obligation to anyone. curate your experience on here.
8) turn off submissions on your blog, and turn off anon asks or even asks all together if you don’t want them. you are not obligated to answer every ask or even have an open ask box. you should also take a look at your settings for private messages and replies to set them to what you’re comfortable with.
9) how i use notifications is different than a lot of ppl bc i get a LOT of them but explore how the Activity and notifications page works to your favor, but turn off push notifs and as much as you can. followers, likes, etc, do not matter that much here if you’re not trying to build a following for art or something and you shouldn’t pay attention to it other than just for fun.
10) learn what T*RF, SW*RF, and white supremacist dogwhistles are and how to spot them bc they can still be prevalent on here and you may not realize. a lot of seemingly normal posts about feminism on here can be crypto t*rf shit so you need to learn how to spot it. (those kinds of posts spread to a lot of platforms and people don’t realize….)
11) do not get into discourse on here. of any kind. even if you’re right. some idiot will drain the life out of you arguing with you and people get weird. you’re not gonna convince people online of anything in a discourse fight most of the time and you will only come out of it drained or harassed yourself (frankly this is good advice for anywhere and sometimes even i slip up). in general even on here where engagement is not encouraged as much, every platform has engagement bait and discourse either purposely seeded to piss you off, or if it’s not on purpose it’s still pushed by algorithms.
12) for things like news, etc, this is general online advice but make sure you’re practicing basic media literacy to check how real a headline or a video or something is. what’s the source? how old is it? did they provide sources? etc
13) DO NOT REPOST ART. EITHER FROM HERE OR FROM OTHER WEBSITES. unless the artist says you can repost it (and you need to do so with credit, and look and see if they need to give permission). do not REBLOG reposted art either. you may find it in tags sometimes. do not encourage that behavior.
14) to that same end, do not post AI bullshit here. chatGPT, character AI, voiceover deepfakes, AI videos, etc. don’t do or support those in general but don’t post that shit here
15) in general, and this is something i try to tell people on EVERY platform, remember that what you see people discussing online is often a small minority of what most people think or feel. it may FEEL like everyone is talking about a certain thing, or fighting about a certain thing, but it does not represent the whole. there’s so many discourses where people are like “why do x always say y” and i’m like well they don’t. the very online segment of x often say y bc it gets engagement or bc they are very loud. (this isn’t the case for everything but it happens often for very stupid topics). this isn’t to dismiss important conversations had online by a minority of people that aren’t being discussed wider enough either - bc that also does happen. but that is often for things that are more important than like, the same movie sex scene discourse i see on twitter every 2 weeks.
16) don’t feel any obligation to your “followers”. you are not an influencer you are just here having fun, and your followers follow for the things you reblog, not for you. be FREE.
17) on desktop browser, get the XKit Rewritten extension and go wild with the settings. its a really nice tool and has a lot of good features, like the quick reblog and queue features that give you those auto tags and stuff. (also if you aren’t already using Ublock Origin extension as your adblocker on desktop, get that too).
18) if you have an iphone, apple store limits what they can show you within the app, so if you want to look at more NSFW, the mobile browser version of tumblr is quite decent. but also go to your blog settings on desktop and make sure your settings of what it is showing you on your dash include sensitive content (even if you set it to have a filter over it at first), bc it sometimes autoflags random shit as “sensitive”. also play with your dashboard filters with tags for nsfw content to your comfort - it wont remove it it’ll just put a thing over it so it doesn’t pop up in public accidentally before you click to look at it.

[HERESY is ONLINE]
HERESY: Hello? Is somebody there?
A text chat is open on the computer. It looks like someone is trying to reach out. You don't know why, but just as the hatch and computer terminal seemed to call to you, the text chat does as well. You feel compelled to reach out somehow.
Talk to HERESY>
[VitalsStation12B is ONLINE]
VitalsStation12B: Hello?
HERESY: I can't believe it…
HERESY: Someone actually answered.
HERESY: I didn't fully believe it when the station read as active again.HERESY: And yet here you are.
VitalsStation12B: Who exactly are you?
VitalsStation12B: And what is this place?HERESY: I guess it makes sense you wouldn't know what's happening, seeing as the moon has become how it is.
HERESY: Where you're standing is a station that monitors the vitals of the moon's internal mechanisms. There's a lot of them.
HERESY: These stations used to make sure that the systems that keep the moon habitable are still up and running, but I suppose they're pretty self-sufficient at this point.
VitalsStation12B: Uh, I'm sorry, but I'm totally lost here…
VitalsStation12B: I don't know what any of this even means…
HERESY: Ah, right…sorry.
HERESY: You probably need a better explanation.
HERESY: I need you to follow my lead, ok?
HERESY: Tab out of this chat and open the vitals monitor, please, I need to know what it says.
You minimize the window and examine the desktop. There only seems to be 3 APPLICATIONS on the screen.
Look at applications>
There are 3 applications on the desktop in front of you. One reads INSTANT MESSENGER. The second reads VITALS MONITOR. The third reads EUTHANASIA PROTOCOL.
Open instant messenger>
Double-clicking the application only seems to open the chat you just minimized. You minimize it again, mildly frustrated at the small error. However, opening the messenger again highlights a detail you hadn't noticed before; a list of CONTACTS available to talk to.
Look at contacts>
There doesn't appear to be anyone online, and all of the contacts have names very similar to the one assigned to you. However, there is one that stands out, that has a completely different name. MILKNEWS.
Click on milknews>
[MilkNews is ONLINE]
MilkNews: Hey what's up man
MilkNews: I'm so bored
VitalsStation12B: Dude did you seriously set a custom name for yourself?
VitalsStation12B: You know you can't do that
MilkNews: Who caaaaaares mannnnn
MilkNews: What are they gonna do, fire us?
VitalsStation12B: Jeez, don't say I didn't warn you
VitalsStation12B: Were you also too stupid to bring any entertainment?
MilkNews: My Wonderswan died
VitalsStation12B: That's why I use crosswords, no batteries required
MilkNews: Can't play a strategy game on a crossword puzzle book!
VitalsStation12B: Look I would love to talk but you know as well as I do that the communication terminals are business only
MilkNews: You're way too stuck up
VitalsStation12B: Whatever man
VitalsStation12B: I'll see you after my shift
[MilkNews is OFFLINE]
Well, that's certainly strange. You wonder what the people in the chat logs were talking about. It does little to illuminate what exactly this room is and what it was built for. Or how the stranger talking to you got ahold of it.
Minimize instant messenger>
You once again minimize the application and turn your attention to the only one you haven't looked at.
Open euthanasia protocol>
Although an application opens, it appears as though whatever the program does, it's locked behind a code. It seems unlikely you will be able to find a code anywhere that would grant you access. And even then, somehow the name makes you nervous. You don't want to fool with it.
Open vitals monitor>
A warm chime sounds from the computer when you double-click the application, followed by a simple loading screen bearing an emblem with the word "Apollo" underneath it. What does that mean? The loading screen finally disappears and a PAGE opens.
Look at page>
You examine the page; it's hard to understand exactly what the screen is trying to show you, though. The visuals are green on black, and the application is showing you some kind of diagram. There's a lot of strange shapes, but they're all contained within a circle, and there are 2 distinct wedges taking up the top third of it. All over the circle are small DOTS that have a number next to them.
Look at dots>
There's too many to count, but the highest number a dot is labeled with is 413. Although some of the dots are green, the vast majority are a blinking red, standing in harsh contrast to the green that makes up most of the shapes on-screen. You hear a small chime and the chat application flashes.

I’m the simmer which EA account got banned.
Yes the only exception is that it’s because of the cc. Because all my sims have a lot of cc. I’m very sad I spent a lot of time creating them….
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, if I'm understanding correctly, you can still go into your game and play, but you just can't post sims on the gallery? Or are you completely locked out of your EA account and can't even play your game at all?
I'm happy to help! Usually they send a warning before outright banning, did you receive any warnings to your EA account prior to being banned? You can login into your EA account online and look under "MY BAN HISTORY." This should tell you when you were banned and give you the option to dispute the ban. Here's a Reddit thread I found while looking into your problem that shows some screenshots that illustrate what I'm talking about.
That's why I personally don't upload anything that isn't "Vanilla" to the gallery if I can help it. There have been some issues in the past with inappropriate and outright racist content, and the gallery has undergone major changes in the last couple months in an attempt to avoid this. My guess is that whatever filter/algorithm they're using to find inappropriate content might have a harder time with sims that use a lot of custom content, and it might be more privy to flagging those, unfortunately. It sucks, but it's the sims team lol. They are bad at fixing problems, but very good at making them. The gallery has always had its issues and, especially if you're using cc, it can be very unreliable IMO. That's why if you're creating sims with the intent/hopes to share them, I really recommend making a Simblr and sharing your sims on here by uploading them to a free host like Google Drive, Mediafire, Patreon, OneDrive, etc. Like I said, I'm happy to create a tutorial for that if you're curious! I'm not tech savvy, but I upload sims on here all the time and haven't had any issues with my methods - it's not as complicated as you'd think once you get the hang of it, and you don't run into issues that come from the gallery.
and YES, absolutely just save your unfinished sims to your library. I have 5 copies of "Vatores - In Progress" in my library right now lmao because I know this game is always playing around in the worst way and I don't want to lose my sims or my progress. I only ever save sims and builds that use CC to my personal library, never on the gallery, and then I use Tray Importer to grab their tray files and cc to share them. It's actually easy-peasy!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You are not stupid! I totally get your thought process with the spawning. That is a pain and there's no perfect solution to that other than just deleting the unfinished townie if they happen to generate in your game.
SUPER IMPORTANT QUESTION: you still have your game installed and therefore have access to your Sims 4 folder, right? If so, you can back up your tray and saves that way you don't lose anything.
I'm using a Windows computer, so I'm sorry if you're using a MAC... I don't know much about their Operating System. For me I can do this by simply copying both folders and storing them in a folder on my desktop, but you can even use a separate flash drive if you prefer.
I go to Documents -> Electronic Arts -> The Sims 4. You use mods, so you're probably very familiar with this but here's a screenshot just in case:
Tumblr media
The two folders I have highlighted - saves and tray - you should keep backups of before you update your game, put new mods in your game, etc. because if something gets corrupted, you'll always be able to save the important stuff if you have to uninstall your game, move to a new PC, and etc.
Tumblr media
That's what my folder looks like on my desktop - the last copy I made of my tray and saves was on October 17th.
Tumblr media
That's the inside of the folder.
Important note while we are here: you can also delete anything inside the cachestr folder (but not the folder itself), anything inside the onlinethumbnailcache folder (but not the folder itself), the avatarcache.package file, and the localthumbcache.package file. Especially do this after removing any mods or cc from your game!
If you can still go into your game and access your sims in the gallery at any capacity, you should go ahead and save your favorite sims to your library. You can do this by going into CAS, adding them to a new household, and saving them like I showed you in the last post. Save your game and then, if you haven't backed everything up before, I would recommend doing that.
If you can't access your gallery at all any more, with the exception of your library, but some of the sims/households you liked have spawned in your game, you can also add them to your library by editing their household from the neighborhood bin. Just open them in CAS and save them to your library the same way you would a totally new sim. This way, even if you may not be able to access everything you've uploaded to the gallery, you might still be able to salvage some sims this way.
Also, if you made a family in CAS and then moved them into a house right after, good news - a copy of them is already saved in your library! So there's definitely some hope?
Lastly, I believe this was also you:
Tumblr media
I don't know what mod this could be, but I've seen people complaining about this issue in the past. I've never personally ran into this issue, but it's likely a script mod. Hard to say: I don't know what cc and mods you have in your game. You might just need to clean out your mods and CC folder until your find the culprit (50/50 method). If you don't have everything organized into subfolders, this would be the perfect opportunity to do that. I'll do some digging though, I'm sorry I can't be more helpeful with this.
Please don't feel stupid or feel bad for asking for help. I'm happy to help you as much as I can. That's what I'm here for! I had to learn a lot of this on my own, so if I can help someone else, that makes me happy! Hopefully there is something in here that works out for you. I'll be sending good luck your way!! 🖤

hey! I have been meaning to get xkit for a while now and you seem to be well versed, any advice, pointers, or places where to look? the new layout is hell for my brain to navigate
hey! and yeah, i've been using xkit since at least 2014
it's been through a lot of updates and changing hands as people have stopped working on it and new people have started, but they've kept it called xkit for conveniences sake
the most recent version, the one that's still updating, is xkit rewritten, this is a fairly bare bones version in that it's solely about fixing things staff have done to the website + adding accessibility options - this extension will show up in your browser extension toolbar and can be modified from there. this doesn't have a fix yet to fix the twitter layout (i'll get to that), but its most recent update was fixing the fact that you can't click on urls to go to specific posts anymore - if you look under tweaks, and "restore links to posts in the post header" (or worded along those lines, on mobile atm), that'll fix that. and feel free to have a playaround with the other stuff it can do!
new xkit is the version that existed before that - this shows up as an additional icon in the tumblr header (or now the sidebar for the twitter layout). a lot of people will say don't get this, i honestly don't see a problem with it, but this was the xkit that existed for a long time and used to have extensions that modified the website just for fun, rather than solely to fix it. this version is no longer updating and it lost about half its extensions in the process, but the ones that remain still work fine, and if you care for something more whimsical, there's a couple fun extensions left, plus i just find the customisability of extensions easier with this
(new xkit and xkit rewritten can be used at the same time, and i have been using both since i got xkit rewritten - but if you only want one, xkit rewritten is definitely the way to go)
now, if you want to actually fix the twitter layout, xkit isn't what you need, there's two options for that
i use stylus, and this extension, which has so far been working fine for me (minus one slight issue in menu sizing that i fixed with a single line of code, i'll throw details to that in under the cut if it happens to you)
i'm also aware of dashboard-unfucker, which uses a different browser extension, i haven't used this personally, but i know some people have had better luck with it than stylus, so feel free to have a playaround and use what works for you!
(and the author does have a note added in that this version of dashboard unfucker only works with xkit rewritten, it has problems with new xkit, so if you wanna go this path keep that in mind)
but yeah, you should be able to find some combination of extensions that works for you, feel free to get back in touch if you're struggling to install anything, and good luck in your journey of modifying tumblr!
okay so the issue i was having is i think this extension was designed on a very specific screen size, and i'm assuming one smaller than my desktop screen? so it ended up making the menus up the top super wide when opened
i'm not a css expert (honestly if anyone who is knows how to make the other new icons that i don't care about disappear, and realign what's left back over to the right, would love to know how to do that), but i researched enough to add this line in
if you open stylus once this is installed, click manage, and then select tumblr.com, you should be taken to the source code and be able to edit it
around line 281 (after you install it, the preview version has more stuff added in) there's a section titled "Moves the menu so it appears over the top and not in the header", and several lines of code underneath that
somewhere in that list (doesn't matter where as long as it's in the brackets, i've put it under max height for organisation) add "max-width: calc(20vw);" in on a new line (minus the quotation marks, but make sure you keep the semicolon)
basically that just checks the width of your screen and tells the menu it can't be wider than 20% of the screen, which works for me, feel free to change that number according to what works for you, i find stylus very easy to modify, you just hit the save button (i don't think you even have to reload the page, but try doing that if it doesn't work) and it'll make the changes

1, 2, 7, 13, 18, 27, and 30. :D
So it turns out that I can only access my inbox from mobile because when I log in through desktop, Tumblr still says I have no asks, which is so fucking annoying but we're making do.
Anyway.
From the unique writing asks post:
1. What themes would you like to write about that you feel don't get explored very often?
I think it's the nature of fanfic that most people that stumble across stuff I've written are looking for romantic pairings, which is great because if I've written for them, it means their dynamic makes me want to chew concrete and I love being able to share that with readers! But as someone on the ace/aro spectrum (we're still figuring this out), I think it would be really interesting to explore themes of asexuality and/or aromanticism through characters in a respectful and meaningful way. I don't think I'm at the point in my personal development where I can do that quite yet, but I'd love to some day.
2. What are some common elements of stories you are tired of seeing? What would you avoid writing about?
This one's a tough one because I'm genuinely pretty open to whatever. Like whenever I'm like, hmm don't think I like that, something will come up and inevitably prove me wrong. I didn't think I'd ever be into cheating, but then there's like every canon Roisa fic ever. Also Rose being Luisa's stepmother is still weird but hasn't stopped me.
Oh, one trope I do hate though is magic babies. I spend most of my time in wlw fics and while I'm fine with adoption fics, I hate it when someone in a wlw couple magically ends up pregnant and everyone's weirdly happy about this and no one is freaking out about it. It just doesn't do it for me. It's a huge commitment and the fact that a biological baby is like the "next step" to fulfillment in their relationship and doesn't strain it at all is so icky to me.
7. Favorite description in your wip?
I am literally so bad at descriptions but please enjoy this brief excerpt from my gap princess diaries 2 au I haven't updated in a year lol.
Mon fidgets for a bit before Sam takes off her suit coat and drapes it around her shoulders.
"Oh," Mon says. Sam's wearing suspenders and that distracts her. It takes her a while to remember to say, "Thank you."
"You looked cold."
She was not cold. It's actually a pretty mild night. Mon does not mention this as she pulls the coat tighter around herself. It smells fresh, vaguely like saltwater air.
13. What traits do you share with your original characters or what traits do you wish you shared with them?
I think whenever I do end up writing original characters, they're always like plucky sidekicks who are only there to give the protagonists a kick in the ass. I'd like to be able to not overthink as much and just see the situation clearly and tell it to people as bluntly as my OC's seem to.
18. What writers have inspired you with their use of language? What are some of your favorite quotes?
It's been so long since I've read anything so my mind is blanking right now, but I'm always amazed by how much feeling poets can put into their words. I remember sobbing throughout Ocean Vuong's On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous. The older I get, the more I identify with everything Mary Oliver has written ever. My mentally ill boy Kafka is always a mood. I wish I could remember anything any of these people have ever written but I have nothing but dryer fluff in my head. I'm sorry.
27. Do you have playlists for your wip? What are some of the songs in it?
Sorry, I usually don't have playlists for writing! I should actually start though because it has gotten me over writer's block a couple times, but for the most part, I just play whatever song I'm currently obsessed with. My ADHD means that I tune the lyrics out and I'm just vibing with the beat, although if I loop a song enough times while writing, every time I hear that song afterwards, I'll always associate it with the process of writing that fic, which is pretty cool. I don't think I've written anything over the past twelve months, but my current song on repeat is Animal by VEAUX if you wanna check it out!
30. What is some of the best writing advice you've read or received? Why does it work for you?
The thing about advice for me is that I'm always seeking it out and hoarding it like wow, I bet this would work for me and then...not doing anything to implement it. One thing I did end up using though, is from a Tumblr post that was like, "order everything in your sentences the way a movie scene would play out so the emotional punch comes at the end, like she came into the kitchen, saw the creeping puddle of blood, and discovered her brother's body." I'm paraphrasing obviously because no one can find anything on this hellsite, but this really made me realize that I kinda just threw everything together and hoped it made sense (once again, probably due a little bit to the ADHD). I'm not sure if anyone's even noticed, but I like to think it's made my writing a bit more coherent and easier to follow.
Thanks for asking! I'm love you!

Thess vs Computers in General
Computers. I love them, but sometimes I also hate them. Well, let's be fair, it's not the computers that I hate; they only allow me to access things, really, so it's the things that they access that I love or hate, and I can love them unconditionally because they allow me to access the good stuff and the bad stuff isn't their fault.
(Yes, I anthropomorphise my computers. We all do, I think. It's why we give them names. My current one is Gilmore, because my current one is powerful and glorious - and also has a colour-shifting LED in there so it's basically a Pride flag with a CPU.)
Anyway. Annoyances with the work systems continue, because ... well, they listened to about the whole thing where the software wasn't marking finished dictations as finished - sort of. What they did was try to make it so that it would attach our names to bits of dictation so they'd be able to look at a bit of dictation and know a typist had been at it even if it still got listed as Transcription Pending. Except ... well, despite the fact that we all log on to our own separate instances of this software and so it should be able to be an automatic thing to have our name stapled to them ... well, it should be automatic to have it listed as Finished when we click "Finished" and it's not doing that either. So what we have now is, every time we click a bit of dictation to type, a little window pops up and obliges us to put our initials into it before we can proceed to the typing. And because of the limitations of our frankly bullshit IT infrastructure, there's just enough pause between the clicking on the bit of dictation and the window popping open that, if you're on "speed-typing autopilot" (which I am basically all the time), you can kind of forget and leave the remote desktop window for the main desktop window where you're supposed to type the report. And then you press Play on the footpedal and nothing happens and then you remember and it's like, "Oh, fuck". IT Guy says he's going to try to automate the initials thing, but I'm not holding my breath. We're apparently not even going to be using this iteration of the software for that long anyway, so why they're making these changes is beyond me.
Also I still can't drag and drop a chunk of typing into my personal queue. This makes it harder to manage my workload effectively, and also not only makes it easier for Temp to pick out all the nice little short easy typing she craves, but also makes it easier to hide that she's doing it, because I have no way of checking up on her. I know she's doing it; I just couldn't prove it if I was asked to. So ... yeah, this is great for her and sucks for me. Story of my life where work is concerned, to be fair.
There was a break at 3pm-ish. Well. I say 'break', but that was the most tense part of my day, I think. Because that was when the autograph slots for the Critical Role cast's upcoming visit to London's MCM Comic Con went on sale. Now, after one year of missing it because I didn't know I had to book in advance (though I met a lovely woman who is now one of my D&D players, so it worked out okay), and another year of missing it because global pandemic, I was going to up and fucking die if I had to miss it again. And that was even with seeing the prices on the tickets.
Side note: I can talk about this now - there was an issue when I saw how expensive the tickets were going to be. Like, we're talking £63 per autograph. That's nearly doubled from the last time, if memory serves me. Now, my mother had agreed to having the autographs and the ticket to the expo itself be my combination Christmas / birthday gift for the 2023/2024 holiday season (my birthday's in February so that's kind of how I look at it) but £63 x 8 is £504 and the ticket itself brings the entire thing up to an even £600 and that was just ... way, way too much to ask. Yes, even for both gift-giving events. So I emailed my mother going, "This is what it is going to cost and I will totally understand if it is too much; can we please discuss something reasonable?" And she emailed me back with a "Yikes" and an offer of paying for just over half of them. Thankfully I had some money squirreled away for a new graphics card. I hadn't been saving for very long, so there was only just about enough to cover it if I pitched in some of this month's fun money, but y'know what? A new graphics card can wait. I have been waiting years for this, and I may never get this chance again.
Anyway, so I made sure everything was set up - debit card out and at the ready, MCM page open to let me refresh for the "Book Tickets Here" button as quickly as possible, etc etc, and a couple of minutes before 3pm, I moved from my little WFH office set-up to my home set-up (I have a long desk; the side near the window is my rig and dual monitors; the other side is my dinky work laptop propped on a bunch of RPG sourcebooks) and started navigating. Now, the first thing that happened was unbelievably slow loading as everyone swamped the page at once.
The next thing that happened was the whole server crashed on their end. Some of you might have heard the frustrated Quebecois swearing.
Thankfully that did not last long and things were running a lot smoother after that. And, after a bit of poking around my bank app validating the purchase (to be fair, that's a big spend for me) ... confirmation page and confirmation email went *ping* at me.
...So ... this is actually happening.
After all these years, THIS IS FINALLY HAPPENING!
It's going to hurt. It's going to hurt like hell. But it's going to be so worth it. And the best part? I'll have help! Mum can't go because she's visiting North America on that specific weekend, more's the pity, but she'd only have been coming on the Friday anyway. However, one of my D&D players - the one I met at MCM Comic Con the last time the Critical Role cast came to town - is coming as well, and I have offered her my sofa for the long weekend and I'll have company and someone with me in case of anything worse than the ow. You know, the bullshit like vertigo, balance problems, all that kind of thing. And someone to figuratively speaking slap me upside the head if I start going, "Eh, maybe I don't need an accessibility lanyard..."
Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to find some way of dealing with adrenaline afterburn. Because I was honestly expecting more to go wrong and it didn't but my body was in fight-or-flight mode for days and I am still vibrating. Also I probably need to start actively thinking about Scent of a Warden-ing Bell's Hells...
(Also I think I am going to raid the blackberry bushes that grow around the local cemetery and make blackberry tea out of them. And give some to Taliesin because a) actual Dead People Tea and b) how much more goth do you get than "blackberries from a literal cemetery"?)

I'm so glad that everyone's talking about hacking 3DSes because I think the sudden popularity has not only made way for quality of life changes/accessibility. But it's also made it so more people are talking about what you Can Do with a hacked 3DS! A bit of a ramble below the cut lmfao
I hacked my 2DS XL over a year ago, and like. I didn't actually... know much of the cool shit I could do with it. I knew I could download games onto it, and get custom themes, but that was about it. But now, bc of more people talking about it, I know much more abt stuff you can do!
This ranges from small quality of life things, for example, an app that disables the parental lock popup, bc come on, I'm an adult (3DS-ParentalUnlock, get it on Universal Updater), to things like. You can fucking take a GBA game and convert it to a 3DS file (on your computer, with software that makes it easy) to then play it directly on your 3DS as virtual console (link). You can use an FTP server app to be able to wirelessly see and transfer files between your computer and your 3DS (link). There's other things too that I personally have no use for but other people love. For example, an app that can save multiple save files for apps that wouldn't usually let you have more than one (JKSM, Universal Updater). Honestly, just dig around Universal Updater. There's lots of cool shit on there. Note, I'm pretty sure all of these things I've mentioned have been around for years, but they were only things I was able to find out about bc of people talking about it more. But like. I Have definitely noticed in the past year that the list of things you can get on Universal Updater has gotten quite bigger.
In terms of New things making things more accessible/higher quality of life. Something that I know only became a thing 7 months ago was hShop making an app to get games from their lists directly on your 3DS! Which is a huge quality of life change imo. (I know before you could just scan the qr codes from the desktop site, but, that's still extra steps). But also just people talking more about things is making me find out More about quality of life stuff that was already there that I just didn't know of.
ALL of this is stuff that's very easy to do, btw. Very user-friendly the whole way round with instructions when needed. But yeah. This makes me really excited for the future of 3DS hacking. I hope even cooler shit becomes possible. Preferably user-friendly.

Please please please could you tell us about OP verse with Nnoi?))) It seems so cool but I can find only treads and not some... lore? specifically about your muse
[ ;O; // OH thank you very much for taking interest in Nnoitra's One Piece verse! Fun fact is that this blog was originally made with only an OP verse, because that was the fandom I used to write in (my first rp blogs were OP blogs). I'm sorry I haven't made his verse info more accessible! :O I'll make it accessible on mobile when I have time. All verse info can be viewed on my blog (desktop only), on the "About/Verses" star. Nnoitra's OP verse is called BLOOD & THE MOON.
Here is the lore/backstory for his verse! -
Nnoitra was born on a desert-island in South Blue. His hometown was very small one, the kind where everyone knows everyone. He lived there with his parents, and his older brother, Shinji.
This particular island had a reputation of producing strong fighters, who often turned out to be either marines, pirates, bounty-hunters or warriors.
Already as a child, it was clear that Nnoitra had a talent far exceeding anyone else’s. He towered over the other children with more than a head, and even his older brother was shorter than him.
At fourteen, nobody could beat him at anything.
This didn’t make him happy, on the contrary. He wanted to become stronger and stronger, until his name reached the heavens. But nobody on the island could teach him anything more than what he already knew. So, how was he to improve?
For a couple of years, Nnoitra walked around with the thought of leaving his home town. But he did love his parents and his brother, and if possible, he would like to stay with them.
It was around this time that the marines began to see an interest in Nnoitra. Even though he was just a young teenager, they thought he had potential. Since this island often bred good marines, it was only natural that they kept an eye out.
Late one night, a wounded sorcerer arrived at the island. The townsfolk thought he was just a silly old man who could do some magic-tricks, and Nnoitra would’ve thought so too, if the man hadn’t asked him: “Do you want to become stronger?” Of course, Nnoitra’s answer to this was “Yes!”.
And so, the old man sat up a campfire a little out of town, and brought Nnoitra there. This was where Nnoitra traded part of his soul for powers. Nnoitra felt a sharp pain in his head, and a cold sensation, like half his head was filled with snow.
Trading part of his soul allowed Nnoitra to gain physical abilities way beyond his dreams. He was now able to use Rokushiki perfectly. The most special ability he gained was his Tekkai, because he doesn’t need to stand still to use it.
Who did he trade his soul with? He traded them with the god of Despair. So, he gained physical abilities, and had to give up a part of his soul, and his left eye. After this, he had a hole in his head, which he was quick to hide with the big eyepatch he currently wears.
What Nnoitra didn’t know, was that this old sorcerer was in fact a wanted man, who had been hunted by the marines for decades. And they caught on to him. Soon, battleships were closing in on the little island. The people in the village quickly figured out that the sudden attack on their island had to be connected to the mysterious, old man showing up. And they wanted to give him up to the marines. But Nnoitra refused, of course he did. This man had allowed him to grow even stronger, and turning him in to the government was something only a coward would do. He had a big fight with his parents and brother, and the rest of the town about this matter.
In the end, he decided to try and help the sorcerer off the island. He left the village, and together with the old man, they headed to the other side of the island to find a boat. He did manage to send him off, and he has never seen him since.
When he returned to the village, everything was chaos. All the houses burnt down, and everyone. Everyone was dead. He dug the bullets out of his brother’s body, but it was too late.
Of course, Nnoitra blamed himself for this, why wouldn’t he? And truly, it was his fault, though, he didn’t know that. For the first time in his life, he wanted to die.
What he didn’t know, was that this was a gift to him. A gift from the God of Despair. Since he lacked part of his soul, the God thought it only proper that it should be replaced with Despair. Even today, Nnoitra has not gotten rid of the Despair he felt that day.
Nnoitra has learned to live with Despair, and it has become an important part of him.
Nnoitra didn’t kill himself that day, but he was stuck with a deathwish. Deep down, Nnoitra still wants to die.
He left the island shortly after everyone was dead, and he headed straight for the Grand Line. He did what he had to survive. But, during his travels, his heart grew heavy, and the guild tried to eat him up.
On a desert island, which reminded him very much of his home, he decided to end it. He picked up his knife (at that time was always carrying a knife and a sword), and placed it over his heart. As the blade pierced his skin, it disappeared, and a person appeared in front of him. The person looked to be made out of pure darkness. He couldn’t tell if it was male or female, human or not. It didn’t say anything, it just dragged Nnoitra forcefully to his feet, and put its hand on his bleeding chest, stopping the blood. And then, it turned into a huge weapon. The Santa Teresa he carries around today.
That was the first and final time Nnoitra tried to kill himself. He didn’t want that kind of pathetic death. He didn’t want to die by his own hand. No. A strong fighter like himself should die in a battle. He should fight ‘til the death. That was how he wanted his life to end, and it still is. For years, Nnoitra travelled the Grand Line, and mostly specialised in bounty hunting, but he soon grew bored with that.
After having seen a lot of the world, he was convinced that the strongest people were pirates, and so, he wished to become one himself. He is now on the lookout for a strong crew he can join, so that he might enjoy tougher battles, and finally... Find someone stronger than him, who can end it all. ]

Let's talk about the new Tumblr update.
And what we can do to make it easier to use.
Tumblr media
What do I think of it?
Firstly, I'd like to thank @thelaundrybitch for helping me understand the new community label update. I want to preface by saying that I don't think this is a bad idea. No matter what site you build a platform on, if you specialize in 18+ content, there is never a guarantee that your audience will only be 18+, not without guidelines. I understand what Tumblr is trying to do, and I truly think it can be a really useful tool in protecting adult creators from minor interactors who just don't respect boundaries.
That being said, I'm not sure that this new system is nailed down yet. It definitely has it's bugs and downfalls. I like to think that these things will smooth out over time, but that remains to be seen.
I also want to explain that my feelings on having 18- followers are mixed. On one hand, I have a ton of content on my blog that I don't feel the need to label as mature, but then again, I have a lot of very sexual works as well. This is the biggest reason that I feel the labels will be beneficial to blogs like mine.
Why is it a problem?
While I feel like this update is for a good cause, like I mentioned before, it's not without it's issues. The main one that I have been experiencing is that whenever I use the labels, it's almost as if I get shadow-banned. Not only do those labeled post get absolutely no visibility or interaction, but many other of my non-labeled posts take a drastic plunge in interaction. After conferring with the aforementioned creator, I was enlightened to a potential solution.
How can you help?
I wasn't aware that when this update took effect, everyone, even aged profiles, had their label settings defaulted to censor and hide all mature posts. It is my understanding that minor accounts will not have the option to alter these settings until their entered birthdate shows them to be over age, but everyone who is shown to already be above 18 has this option.
On a desktop browser, you should be able to simply access the drop down menu that comes from you account icon, go into your settings, and scroll down toward the bottom. When you find your settings, provided you are allowed, you can customize what you would like to be shown (sexual, addiction related, or violent content). The mature label encapsulates all these topics, and you will need to allow these to be shown if you would like any of them. There is also an option to have these posts with these topics blurred, meaning that they will still appear to you, but with a censorship filter, giving you the choice to view or not.
It doesn't appear that these options are built into the Android version of the app. As for IOS, I believe the settings are there, and also have the option to hide addition content, so be on the look out for that! Here are some posts who can explain that end better that I can, and thank you to @thelaundrybitch for directing me to them.
@internetgremlin-writes with a more in depth explanation
and
@ariapmdeol with a slightly more simplified explanation
The bottom line.
In conclusion, if you enjoy the content that I put out, and would like to continue to see my stuff, please consider adjusting your settings. And if you're unable to do so due to age, I welcome you to the fluffier side of my page and encourage you to come back for the other when the time is right. The fact of the matter is, putting out work that would usually be such a hit and having nobody get to see it is discouraging to say the least, but I have faith that we as a community can not only learn to live with this change, but benefit from it.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and for doing what you can to not only improve my experience, but yours as well. I hope you all have wonderful day, much love! 💕
