Quinlan Vos and Obi-Wan Kenobi Are Not Normal About Each Other (A Thesis Statement)
Fandom: Quinlan and Obi-Wan have had sex, but it’s a reach to think they could be in love and/or care deeply about each other in some manner, it was just physical (this is not me saying I don't think they have sex I HELLA do and I've written a lot of smut to prove it, but I've seen wayyyy too many posts that basically say they can only be romantic as Padawans and NEVER as adults and/or were just fooling around as teens and didn't have deep feelings in some way whether they're FWB or romantic partners or whatever you like)
Me: *unrolls my scroll* I'm here to make a POINT as an addendum to this post I made recently.
Tumblr media
Look at these little darlings! They just met and Quin's already trusting Obi-Wan, and Obi-Wan WANTS Quin to trust him. In another panel from this same comic, Quin helps Obi-Wan with his anxiety and it's very sweet.
Tumblr media
Quin's been struggling with the dark side while undercover, and everyone thinks he's really truly fallen and can't be brought back except for Aayla, Tholme, and, YOU GUESSED IT! Obi-Wan. He goes looking for Quinlan on his own and finds him and they chat. Plus, look at this flashback of these little nerds flirting. Quin literally falls into the river and almost dies trying to flirt with Obi-Wan.
Tumblr media
What do I even say about this panel??? Look at them!! Look at Quin trusting Obi-Wan with the dark parts of himself and Obi-Wan believing in him? Look at that hand clasp? Like shut up I can't take it.
Tumblr media
Obi-Wan refusing to leave Quinlan behind and Quinlan, stubborn Quinlan, listening to him.
Tumblr media
Their banter here shows how well they know and play off each other and that joke in the last panel SENDS ME.
Tumblr media
This is from the new comic that came out in September, and this is just ONE instance of several of Quinlan mentioning Obi-Wan, who only appears in this comic via a psychometric vision, but Quin keeps bringing him up anyways.
Tumblr media
I mean this is. THIS is what made me WANT to know more about Quinlan in the first place! It's not in this gif, but the way Obi-Wan smiles in this scene? The way his eyes light UP? That's love, babey.
Tumblr media
I could literally paste so much stuff from Dark Disciple, which to me has always been a QuinObi book in addition to Vostress. Quinlan has fallen (pretty much without understanding he has because he so badly wants to uncover Sidious) and missing his check-ins with Obi-Wan, but Obi-Wan keeps going back to their bar over and over again and he's been waiting for like, two hours at this point when Ventress comes in.
"Not him." Okay, buddy. Okay. Obi-Wan has like three panic attacks and outright defies his fellow council members at various points through this book because he believes so hard in Quinlan. He is INSISTENT that Quinlan can be brought back to the light.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These two pages made me SOB.
"She saved Quinlan" in italics. Not just his life, but his spirit. Those italics speak for themselves. And "Vos knew he could never repay Kenobi for that, but he has the rest of his life to try." Do ya, Quin? The rest of your life, huh?
Anyhow, truly, this is just me scratching the surface as I was limited by only being able to use 10 photos in a post. I’m leaving out sooo many other examples. You don't have to ship them! But these guys care a lot about each other and saying that it's just, impossible for them to have romantic feelings on posts or fics where the creator is, indeed, shipping them is ... weird. So is trying to overlay other ships onto specifically QuinObi content.
This has been a PSA.

So like, I get why people don't like the idea that padme falls for anakin even after the whole genocidal violence thing. But I think we are ignoring the political subtext of the prequels. The subtext of both tatooine and naboo is that the intergalactic human civilization is colonizing planets with an indigenous population (sand people and gungans). Like both anakin and padme are raised in settler colonial environments and are used to mentally dehumanizing those people.

Why Palpatine is the perfect Villain
HI I AM BACK WITH AN ATROCIOUSLY LONG POST BUT THIS IS AN INFODUMP AND ALSO JUST LIKE- A RAMBLING SO IT'S OK ANWAY
Sheev Palpatine is the best villain in cinematic history. I don’t care whether or not you like Vader, the Joker, or hell someone like Gaston from Beauty and the Beast more, I am standing my ground and proclaiming (in my opinion) that Palpatine, Darth Sideous himself, is the perfect villain and here is why. This post also marks a return for me to Tumblr so hi to all 12 of my followers ily all <3. ANYWAY, time to get into our deep deep analysis of what makes Palpatine so good, and why his execution of the Sith’s grand plan to rule the galaxy is an absolute chef’s kiss in villainy.
Tumblr media
SO FOR CONTEXT, at the time of the prequels, the Sith have been destroyed in the eyes of the Jedi for over a millennium. The last of the Jedi-Sith wars culminated in the perceived destruction of the Sith by the Jedi Order and the foundation of the Galactic Republic. However, we all know that Darth Bane was the only sith to have survived this destruction of the Sith Order, and of course brought about the rule of two. The rule of two stated that only two Sith Lords could exist at any given time, the master and their apprentice. This rule of two has allowed the Sith to survive until the time of Episode 1, the Phantom Menace, and allowed each subsequent Sith Lord to grow in power as time went on. So by 32 BBY (the year which Episode 1 takes place), Darth Sidious has become the preeminent Sith Lord after the death of his own master, Darth Plagueis the Wise. Sidious/Palpatine is now working with Maul and Dooku as his puppets and apprentices to put the grand plan to destroy the Jedi order into action, and the Jedi are none the wiser for it.
SO, THE PLAN. The plan that Palpatine has essentially started ten years before the Prequels begin. He and his master, Darth Plagueis have learned to essentially manipulate the force in such a way that one could feasibly create life. Now, is the Anakin Skywalker story kinda like the story of Jesus Christ? In a way yes as they were both conceived by a mysterious cosmic force and are destined for greatness. But that’s neither here nor there I don’t have the spoons or energy to compare Star Wars to the bible right now lol. Anyway, Sidious and Plagueis manipulate the force to essentially create Anakin, which in turn due to Anakin begin conceived from the cosmic force itself, makes Anakin incredibly powerful and force sensitive. This insane level of force sensitivity, greater than even Master Yoda’s, makes Anakin the chosen one in the eyes of the Jedi who eventually find him. I think this is step one in the master plan of Palpatine. He knows that the Jedi will eventually find Anakin and proclaim him to be the Chosen One, which will inevitably lead to Anakin being treated differently by the Jedi Council and such.
Tumblr media
Another part of the plan of course consists of the Clone Wars. Basically, Palpatine wants to weaken the Jedi and put them into a position where they essentially become hypocritical of themselves and their teachings. The Jedi code stipulates that the Jedi are supposed to be keepers of the peace, not soldiers. Additionally, prior to the prequels the Jedi had a higher degree of popularity in the Republic. This would mean that for Palpatine, there was a real challenge in the Sith’s goal of defeating the Jedi. Thus, Palpatine’s grand plan would come into shape. To defeat the Jedi, he would need to make them both hypocrites and fairly unpopular in the eyes of the wider galaxy. To do this, Palpatine would play on the fears of the galactic population through his apprentice, Count Dooku. Palpatine would maneuver himself into the position of Chancellor of the Galactic Republic, while Dooku would take his position as leader of separatists who would seek to leave the Republic. Of course, I am talking about the Clone Wars and the way that Palpatine would manufacture a crisis to gain more and more power for himself. In Episode 2, Attack of the Clones, Palpatine would state that he would “not allow this Republic, which has stood for a thousand years, be split in two.” In a cruel twist of fate, he kept this promise. While it would appear on the surface that there were two sides to the Clone Wars, in reality both sides were simply serving as means to an end for Palpatine and his grand plan. I mean really, are there any other villains around who are able to take two sides and play them against each other for their own gain without no one being the wiser?
ike Joker manipulating Harvey Dent in the 2008 film, The Dark Knight, Palpatine is able to manipulate the hero of the story to his own ends, and turn him into his ultimate puppet. I am of course talking about the chosen one himself, Anakin Skywalker. After it is revealed that Anakin is the chosen one and accepted into the Jedi Order, Palpatine moves to turn himself into the only one that Anakin will trust. Because of the fact that Anakin was already nearly ten years old when he was accepted into the Jedi Order, he had already been allowed to form emotional attachments with those he was close to, including Padme and his mother. This would of course come into conflict with the teachings of the Jedi Order, as they forbid emotional attachments. Additionally, Palpatine knew that with the death of Qui-Gon Jinn by the hands of Maul, Anakin would not have the mentor that he would actually need to feel connected to and fully comfortable with the Jedi Order. Palpatine would then move to position himself as the only one that Anakin fully trusts, and would act as the father figure that Anakin actually needed. In this way, Palpatine was able to pray on Anakin’s fears and insecurities created by his relationship to the Jedi Council, and manipulate him into eventually turning on his fellow Jedi. I feel like this is one of the hallmark traits of a villain, turning the motivations of the hero against them for their own gain. Anakin wishes to save the ones closest to him, and the dogma of the Jedi prevents him from feeling like he truly can accomplish that. Thus, Palpatine is able to become the father figure that Anakin needed in order to seduce him to the dark side in a way which the Jedi couldn’t have foreseen.
Tumblr media
I think in the end the characteristics that make Palpatine a perfect villain in my eyes are just how unashamedly evil he really is. When he is revealed to be the Sith Lord that orchestrated the Clone Wars and manipulated Anakin during Episode 3, Revenge of the Sith, he clearly revels in his villainy and in the Sith grand plan coming to fruition. The Jedi are destroyed by the newly christened Darth Vader, who is of course our fallen hero Anakin Skywalker, and the clone army that was seemingly created to protect the Republic. I think the irony comes when the galaxy largely accepts the narrative that the Jedi were traitors and deserved their fate. Palpatine made the Jedi the ultimate hypocrites in a way which few villains do. The Jedi became generals and soldiers in a war where, often times during the events of the Clone Wars, the Jedi are shown to be aggressive and attack more often than defend. This transformation of the Jedi Order into something which they were not supposed to be shows just how genius Palpatine really is in my opinion. In the end when the Jedi Temple is burning, Palpatine emerges triumphant at last. When Anakin burns on Mustafar, Palpatine imprisons him for his failure in killing Obi-Wan, and locks him into a metal cage, with a skull where his face used to be. This is such an evil move and Palpatine could not be more pleased with himself in this moment.
Tumblr media
Honestly I just really love the character of Palpatine/Darth Sidious so much. He feels as evil as Satan himself, and the fact that his plan is so complex and yet when executed, is carried out almost perfectly, is just so cool to see. Idk I think I’ve rambled on long enough but Sheev, you’re number one to me.

You know for all the Kenobi series’ weird plot holes and nonsensical decisions by the characters, I genuinely did find it enjoyable for reasons outside of the fanservice of Hayden and Ewan acting together again. I’m not quite sure how I feel about them meeting again before their final fight aboard the Death Star, but I can’t deny that the long-time Star Wars fan in me was sucked in nevertheless during their scenes. Anyway:
1). I really liked Reva’s arc. It feeds into that same concept that was underlying Vader’s character in the entire trilogy - that it’s never too late. That you can always change and be a better person and just choose to be better. It may not erase everything you did before, but finally stepping away, at any point, counts for something. I like her entire character, honestly, to the point that I just close my eyes and pretend I do not see how ridiculous the fact she survived being impaled(?) by a lightsaber is. I hope she’s out there somewhere living her best life. If we get a season 2 they better not ruin this for me
2). The idea that it’s not Leia’s first time being kidnapped by the Empire in A New Hope. It explains why she looks so fucking done before Vader even opens his mouth to speak to her.
3). It gives Leia a personal connection to Obi-Wan, and as strange as that looks in light of Leia’s lack of reaction to his death in the original trilogy, I still think it can fit because she could have grieved offscreen, and the impersonal nature of her transmission to him via R2 was on account of the off chance the message ever fell into undesirable hands. Just... imagine? Leia sitting in the Millennium Falcon, suddenly thinking back to when she was ten, and feeling hollow at the knowledge that the man who protected her and went through so much with her all those years ago is dead now.
4). Indira Varma. My only gripe about her character is that her death seemed kind of pointless since Obi Wan goes back out to talk to Reva again anyway.
5). Sidious being so over Vader’s Obi-Wan obsession. It’s so funny that he’s like sigh “My apprentice can we please move on from this goddamn topic it’s been ten years”

NaNoWriMo Day #5
[masterlist]
Today's prompt is a bit different, instead of Danny Phantom × Batman/DC, it's a Star Wars one! Prompt found here
Also, sorry about that false post, I hit the wrong button by accident...
============‹«⟨★·•·★·•·★⟩»›============
There were rumors one would hear, sitting at the bar of a Tatooine cantina, of a Mando hiding out in the Wastes, protecting a foundling from the Imps (or the Hutts, depending on the version). You won't find him wearing armor, you won't find him in a blaster fight, you won't even find him taking up a bounty. Some might contest that he isn't a Mando at all, but those who know more about Mandalorian culture than just their battle prowess and ruthlessness know better. Ben Kenobi of the Wastes may have exchanged his armor for white tunics and brown protective cloaks, he may have hung up his blasters, but he clung to the one core tenant of Mandalorian culture that every Mando worth their armor sticks to. Children are the Future. This is the Way.
============‹«⟨★·•·★·•·★⟩»›============
It started slow. For a few years, the rumors passed around were just rehashing the old, by now familiar story: Imps (or Hutt goons) would run into Ben in the market (or a cantina), a heavily pointed conversation followed (or not, sometimes a fight broke out before words were spoken), and once the dust settled, Ben was the only one standing. But then one day, someone came looking for Ben specifically. It was a Togruta Mando wearing blue and orange armor with a short black cape edged in gold over one shoulder. They'd asked only for knowledge of how long Ben Kenobi had been on Tatooine, and nodded at the given answer, almost as if it had been expected. They asked a bartender to tell Ben that Snips and Rex were looking for him and could be found just outside the settlement's borders. After confirming the bartender would pass along the message, the Mando left without a backwards glance and no mention of how long they'd wait. When the bartender next saw Ben, they passed the info along, getting mildly worried when they saw how affected he was by the names. Ben thanked them, though, so they shrugged it off and went about their day. It was out of their hands, after all.
From that point on, though, Ben started getting visitors, other Mandalorians, generally clad in some mix of blues and oranges, but eventually more color mixes started showing up, too. There were Mandos in black and green, Mandos in browns, some in eye searing shades of yellow, a few with red stripes on primarily blue armor, the list went on. Some followed Ben out into the Wastes in their ships, others came and went, returning every so often with riches beyond the stars. Occasionally one or two would show up with a child or young teen in tow and settle down for a few months before heading back into the black. Sometimes they'd return with an older teen or a young adult with weary eyes and too many scars.
After a few months of this, something else happened. A couple desperate souls had seen Ben interact with a few of the more well known freedom runners while in town and decided to risk it. Two weeks later, a Mando in cheerful yellow and earthy green passed a grandmother an encrypted note that read, "Your brothers walk the skies." It was the first time since the grandmother's early childhood that she shed a tear. So word got out, and more slaves slowly started running to the Wastes. No one ever heard from them again, but every time someone took the risk and ran, two weeks later, a Mando known to interact with Ben would pass one of the grandmothers a note reading the same thing. "Your brother/sister walks the stars."
By the time Ben Kenobi had been a resident on Tatooine for nearly twenty years, the majority of the desert planet was Free, with only a few slaver strongholds left, though they weren't expected to last much longer. A lone hut on the outskirts of the Wastes was now the central hub of a bustling Mandalorian enclave, with force sensitive young being taught alongside their force null companions. And still, the word spread. If you're looking to slip your leash, run to Tatooine's Wastes. Ben Kenobi will set you Free.
============‹«⟨★·•·★·•·★⟩»›============
Ben wasn't sure how it happened, exactly. He never planned to become a freedom runner, nor did he expect to start an entire settlement full of Mandalorians and Jedi alike. He quite meant to live the life of a desert hermit, watching Luke from afar and paying for his sins and shortcomings. Somehow, that wasn't what happened.
"Ben! There's some droids here to meet you, they say they have an urgent message they need to give you! Want me to send them in?" Luke called from outside Ben's office.
Ben sighed. "Go ahead, Luke, now get back to your studies already! You can't exactly become a bounty hunter if you're falling behind in your marksmanship course, now can you," he admonished.
Luke opened the door, and Ben was struck yet again by how much the boy looked like his parents. His father's hair, eyes, and nose, his mother's height, smile, and heart. "Will do, and don't forget! You promised to teach me the next set of Soresu after lunch!" And off he went. Ben smiled. Ahhh, the wonders of youth.
A chirp and trill brought Ben back to the present as a cold weight settled in his stomach. In rolled an astromech, a familiar astromech, followed by an equally familiar protocol droid.
"Dear heavens, are you sure we're in the right place, Artoo? Oh, I would so hate to have come to the wrong place, that would simply be the most horrible—"
Ben stood up and cleared his throat. Both droids came to a stop just in front of his desk. "Hello there."
Artoo let out a greeting and extended his holoprojector. The recording that greeted him made his heart drop.
"Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi. You're my only hope."
