“I can’t stop crying.” - stogan

It wasn’t his plan, initially. It was late, and he was exhausted; Peter had gone into the precinct at a cruel and unusual four am at the request of Liv, who needed a warrant with the sort of urgency with which she regarded everything. And maybe he could have had time to go home between that and the start of his work day, but factoring in his commute, it didn’t seem worth it. He could get caught up on some paperwork, reports, leave a little early. 

Famous last words, of course, because it was nearly midnight and he still hadn’t been home yet, stuck in the office searching for obscure case law and precedent to try and quash the subpoenas served on Liv and Amanda, to try and challenge the motions that the defense counsel had served on him at four thirty. 

So really, he should have gone straight home, should have crashed on the couch or in his bed and let himself sleep until five am when he’d get up to hit the gym, and shower, and start the day all over again. 

But he had other plans, because it had been a week since he’d seen Trevor, a week since they’d last found the time to enjoy each other’s company, share a meal, soft affectionate touches. It was new, and fresh, and exhilarating and Peter wanted nothing more than to bask in the warm comfort of Trevor’s presence, so he turned left, instead of right when he walked out from the office, and he pulled out his phone as he walked the five blocks to Trevor’s elegant penthouse apartment, and he considered calling, considered texting to make sure it was okay, but Trevor had said he was welcome any time, day or night, and Peter sort of wanted to see the look of surprise on his face. 

The doorman let him in with a knowing look, and Peter took the elevator up to Trevor’s floor, and when Trevor opened the door, it wasn’t surprise on Trevor’s face, but tears. 

“What’s wrong?” Peter asked immediately, concern laced through his tone, stepping in to the apartment, hand to Trevor’s side. Trevor reached up, wiping his eyes on the sleeve of his shirt, soft blue cotton. 

“Sorry, I can’t stop crying,” Trevor huffed with a sort of soft laugh that explained nothing, but piqued Peter’s curiosity, and he surveyed the living room, the tv paused in a still frame, a half empty bottle of wine on the coffee table, melting pint of ice cream next to it. 

“Trevor,” Peter murmured softly, an amused smile pulling at the corner of his mouth, “are you crying over a movie?” 

“Its sad,” Trevor replied immediately, defensively, “Me Before You, I should have read the spoilers.” 

Peter just chuckled softly and pulled him into a gentle kiss, “if only the DA could see you know, big bad defense attorney reduced to tears over a chick flick,” he teased. 

“You speak a word of this to anyone and you’ll find out exactly what defense attorneys are capable of,” Trevor muttered, wiping his eyes again, and Peter just laughed, pulling him down on the couch. 

“Its okay, your secret’s safe with me.”

Summer Camp AU + Bed Sharing + Stogan

When Peter is introduced to Trevor, the new camp leader, he feels his heart speed up and his mouth go dry. Trevor’s smiling at him, more of a smirk than anything else, eyes sparkling, and Peter can’t seem to find the words to even introduce himself.

Trevor’s taking the rowing groups, and at every opportunity he gets, when he’s not running his own athletics groups, he’s watching Trevor. It’s under the guise of supervision, of course.

But Peter quickly learns Trevor is more than just a pretty face. More often than not they find themselves sat together for meals, talking for hours on end. The first time Trevor invites Peter back to his room for a drink his heart nearly stops entirely.

Trevor’s full of sharp words and quick wits to keep Peter on his toes, but he’s also full of deep insight, and he has such a big heart Peter’s sure it must hurt.

By the end of camp Peter has fallen head over heels for Trevor.

On the final night he invites Trevor to his room for a drink, a final goodbye. They race through the pouring rain towards Peter’s cabin, but when they get there the roof has caved, and everything inside is just as wet as outside.

“Come back to mine,” Trevor says quietly, placing a hand on Peter’s arm.

They both shower and dry off, and then sit on Trevor’s bed, drinks in hand, talking well into the night.

Peter wakes up to the tickle of breath on the back of his neck and warm, sturdy arms around his middle. He shifts slightly before freezing completely, realising he had fallen asleep in Trevor’s bed. With Trevor.

“Go back to sleep,” Trevor whispers in his ear, nuzzling closer. “We don’t have to be up for a couple of hours.”

The soft kiss Trevor presses to his shoulder is all it takes for Peter to give in, melting into the touch as his eyes drift shut again. They could deal with everything else later.
