okay here's a sad fucked up thought

Kara is trapped in the ice that's laced with Kryptonite, the most lethal substance to a Kryptonian, the one thing that can be so physically painful to her, and yet that scene of her trapped in that state, the tears and pain she feels aren't from it, it's from the inside of her heart, it's 100% emotional pain that's actually so painful that it seems like that's what's keeping her trapped in, and not the Kryptonite. she's emotionally crippled.

Revelations

Lena thought the world to be cold and dark until Kara's warmth and radiance convinced Lena she was wrong. Lena fell in love with Kara Danvers without knowing she was Supergirl. Kara was Lena's savior, what happens when Lena finds out about her lover's chronic insincerity.

Rewrite of the scene in 5x07 "Tremors", where Lena confronts Kara about her deception in the fortress of solitude. The only difference is that Lena and Kara were lovers, not friends. It's the same length as the scene. No warnings, SFW

"Babe, what are you doing with myriad?" Kara says as she furrows her brows, hiding the uncertainty in her voice sufficiently.

Lena takes a step back from Kara. Lena's performed contentment fades away from her face, revealing the coldness she's been feeling for a few weeks now. Lena interrupts her, her voice calm but angry.

"Don't call me that. Don't ever call me that again, Kara. I'm done with your empty words and sweet nothings. I now see you for who you truly are: a liar. We are a lie."

Kara's eyes open up, and her breathing speeds up in alignment with her pounding heart. She hasn't felt this way since her brush with Psi. Her voice tremors though she begs it not to.

"Lena, what are you talking about."

Lena not only notices but relishes the fear oozing out of her ex-girlfriend. She's practiced this moment hundreds of times and hopes to illicit a fraction of the hurt she's felt on Kara. Lena takes a slightly larger step toward Kara and starts the speech she had prepared for Kara.

"The soil from which our relationship bloomed was poisoned with your lies. All the moments we shared were fruit from a poisoned tree, yet you fooled me into believing they were unpolluted. But I guess that's what you do, isn't it, Supergirl. You've swindled the entire world into believing you're their savior using nothing but your smile and a few superficial speeches. Yet how could I blame them? I grew up around some of the greatest liars in the world, but you far surpass the Luthors in your ability to deceive.", Lena says coldly.

Kara despised the feeling inside her. She hated herself for hurting Lena so much. She wants to collapse on the floor, disappear, or simply be in Lena's arms. Lena relishes the brokenness she's causing and continues,

"You made me believe in the impossible, that the world isn't cold, empty, and heartless as it seems. I was drowning in frigid waters, and I thought you to be my savior." Lena pauses as she watches Kara's eyes fill with water.

"Your kiss filled my lungs with air, and your warm hands melted the ice within my veins. I worshipped our love and prayed for your touch, for it was my only exodus from self-flagellation."

Lena lets out a small sigh before continuing. "I know you're not entirely to blame. I was blinded by the hair-brained thought that a Luthor could be loved.", Lena says with a small chuckle.

"It sounds pretty foolish, doesn't it? I had the gall to believe we would settle down and live out some asinine white-picket-fence dream."

Lena's voice is now filled with anger and sadness she attempted to hide. She practiced so many times, yet her practice means nothing when she must look into Kara's eyes. Lena looks at the ground as a lone tear escapes from her eyes. Before it can fall, she wipes her face with the sleeve of her blazer.

Kara responds to Lena as if begging for something. "Lena, I do love you. We can-"

Lena's voice raises an octave, superficially annoyed, but she deep down wants Kara to continue, "Save it, Kara. I've had enough of your performative kindness."

"God, I sacrificed everything for us, for you, Kara. My brother is dead. I murdered him." Lena yells, abandoning her resolve to confront Kara calmly. She pauses to regain her composure before continuing.

"He spent his last breath illuminating your true identity, exposing me as the fool I am. Each time I close my eyes, I picture his death. Over and Over again. I brought this hell upon myself by trusting in you." Lena takes a step back from Kara, positioning herself to exit the fortress.

"Believe you me; I'll be the last person hurt by the world's predilection for insincerity." Lena hints as she's ready to exit. Before she can leave, Kara speaks in a final gambit to stop Lena from absconding with myriad. Kara tries to separate herself from her emotions. Right now, she needs to be Supergirl.

"I can't begin to understand the fraction of hurt you're feeling now. Lena, I do love you. Everything I did was in an attempt to protect you. It was a mistake, and I can't express how repentant I am. But Lena, please don't let my horrible error drive you to do something terrible. This isn't you." Kara croaked as she was on the verge of open tears. Lena's green eyes meet Kara's blue.

"Oh but it is. I was made in your image." Lena said before exiting with myriad in hand.
