Plastic might look harmless but every year millions of tons of plastic waste end up in landfills, rivers and oceans, wreaking havoc on our ecosystems. Whether it's plastic bags, straws, or packaging, our addiction to convenience is taking a toll on the health of our planet. But there is still hope. This Earth Day, let's commit to reducing single-use plastics, supporting recycling initiatives, and advocating for policies that promote a cleaner, healthier planet and reduce our plastic footprint significantly.

"Seven federal agencies are partnering to implement President Biden’s American Climate Corps, announcing this week they would work together to recruit 20,000 young Americans and fulfill the administration's vision for the new program.
The goals spelled out in the memorandum of understanding include comprehensively tackling climate change, creating partnerships throughout various levels of government and the private sector, building a diverse corps and serving all American communities.
The agencies—which included the departments of Commerce, Interior, Agriculture, Labor and Energy, as well the Environmental Protection Agency and AmeriCorps—also vowed to ensure a “range of compensation and benefits” that open the positions up to a wider array of individuals and to create pathways to “high-quality employment.”
Leaders from each of the seven agencies will form an executive committee for the Climate Corps, which Biden established in September, that will coordinate efforts with an accompanying working group. They will create the standards for ACC programs, set compensation guidelines and minimum terms of service, develop recruitment strategies, launch a centralized website and establish performance goals and objectives. The ACC groups will, beginning in January, hold listening sessions with potential applicants, labor unions, state and local governments, educational institutions and other stakeholders.
The working group will also review all federal statutes and hiring authorities to remove any barriers to onboarding for the corps and standardize the practices across all participating agencies. Benefits for corps members will include housing, transportation, health care, child care, educational credit, scholarships and student loan forgiveness, stipends and non-financial services.
As part of the goal of the ACC, agencies will develop the corps so they can transition to “high-quality, family-sustaining careers with mobility potential” in the federal or other sectors. AmeriCorps CEO Michael Smith said the initiative would prepare young people for “good-paying union jobs.”
Within three weeks of rolling out the ACC, EPA said more than 40,000 people—mostly in the 18-35 age range—expressed interest in joining the corps. The administration set an ambitious goal for getting the program underway, aiming to establish the corps’ first cohort in the summer of 2024.
The corps members will work in roles related to ecosystem restoration and conservation, reforestation, waterway protection, recycling, energy conservation, clean energy deployment, disaster preparedness and recovery, fire resilience, resilient recreation infrastructure, research and outreach. The administration will look to ensure 40% of the climate-related investments flow to disadvantaged communities as part of its Justice40 initiative.
EPA Administrator Michael Regan said the MOU would allow the ACC to “work across the federal family” to push public projects focused on environmental justice and clean energy.
“The Climate Corps represents a significant step forward in engaging and nurturing young leaders who are passionate about climate action, furthering our journey towards a sustainable and equitable future,” Regan said.
The ACC’s executive committee will hold its first meeting within the next 30 days. It will draw support from a new climate hub within AmeriCorps, as well as any staffing the agency heads designate."

Exploring Eco-Friendly Packaging
What is Sustainable Packaging?
Sustainable packaging uses materials and production processes that yield a minimal environmental impact. The aim is to be environmentally friendly.
Benefits of Sustainable Packaging
Biodegradable - They are made from either plant-based or recycled materials that naturally degrade without leaving toxic waste.
Compostable - Decomposes naturally through commercial compost processes. Leaves no trace of plastic.
Recyclable - Commodities consisting of post-consumer recycled paper are recyclable.
Accountable Materials - For example, mushroom fibers, banana leaves, and algae reduce the over-reliance on plastic and the excessive processes involved.
Ethical production - the use of sustainably sourced, locally produced, and fairly traded materials has proven to improve lives while having a lighter impact on the environment.
Small Carbon Footprint - Eco packaging vastly reduces the carbon emissions resulting from traditional manufacturing and waste.
Simple Swaps
Paper or Plastics - Go for paper envelopes, boxes and filler made from recycled content. Don’t use plastic poly bags and bubbles.
Glass vs Plastic - Choose glass bottles over single-use plastics because glass is infinitely recyclable.Support plastic reduction initiatives.
Compostable vs. Styrofoam - Replace styrofoam peanuts with compostable corn starch alternatives. Support the ban on non-recyclable products.
For stylish, zero waste, environmentally friendly packaging solutions pay a visit to Chalogreen. They manufacture their products which are entirely plant-based thus saving the planet.

Israel’s resilience in the wake of the Oct 7 onslaught has astounded many of its overseas supporters and opponents alike. Israel is making an astonishing comeback, as this week’s positive newsletter highlights.   On the Jewish New Year for trees, JNF-USA volunteers planted thousands of trees at the site of the devastated NOVA music festival. Israel’s largest printing press resumed operation 3 days after Hamas overran the kibbutz. The IDF brought back a tractor stolen by Hamas on Oct 7 from Gaza to its kibbutz owners. Wounded IDF soldiers are being brought back to health thanks to heroic rescues, surgeons using hi-tech medical technology, and empathic volunteers providing rehabilitation, respite, and emotional support.   Aside from the war, Israeli medical technology brought back the ability to communicate to a paralyzed Israeli woman. And an Israeli startup won an international award for regrowing human bone tissue. Meanwhile, two initiatives are restoring trust between Israeli Jews and Arabs.   Israelis are helping the USA bring its aging power grid back to life; and an Israeli startup is recycling waste into fashion products. Israel’s economy is certainly coming back, and a new Resilience fund is helping war-impacted startups make a comeback. Meanwhile El Al is increasing its flights to bring back tourists and to encourage international business.   The warm winter and welcome rains have brought back color into Jerusalem’s streets; Israel’s ice hockey team came back from being banned from a tournament, to winning all its 5 games; and Israel just celebrated the 20th anniversary of its greatest ecological comeback – the rehabilitation of the Hula Valley.   Finally, "they will all come to Jerusalem" – as the world gradually recognizes that the Jewish People have come back to their ancestral homeland, the Indigenous peoples of the world have opened an embassy in Jerusalem. The photo is of the Netanya offices of Elbit Systems, which has helped Israel make a fighting comeback.

KamehameHamlet Archives: Postcards
Thank you...
to everyone who signed up, reblogged*, and followed yesterday! It means so much to see your support for the Kamehamehamlet Revival Project. If you haven't yet, you can watch the announcement video here and read the Q&A here. *A special shout out to the individual who commented #new tumblr hype thing that will probably fail to launch just dropped , and proceeded to follow anyway. I get it. We all want something to believe in. Thanks for choosing us. Just to set some expectations, the goal is to share one larger post each month focused on the process, development, or context around the Revival Project. Additionally, I'll share something archival from the 2015 production weekly. If you just want to know when we have big news, sign-up at kamehamehamlet.com.
Also, our AMA is open so don't hesitate to ask us questions along the way!
This month's larger post will be about my approach to rewriting the script for distribution. Keep an eye out for it! But first, as a thank you, I want to share promotional art that was never used during the initial run and likely only seen by 2-3 people.
A big part of MN Fringe promotion are the postcards advertising your shows. These are dropped off on the tables of various venues, posted onto corkboards around the city, and handed out to friends and family, who will kindly smile as they recycle them. For the initial KHH postcard, I remade the MN Fringe logo in the style of the 2000s US Shonen Jump logo. Only then did I quickly learn what brand guidelines are whoops.
Tumblr media
The above image shows the original design next to a SJ cover. The second image is of the final design of the postcard which beyond the obvious MN Fringe title change has as few smaller tweaks!

tips for making patches!
(disclaimer: take everything i say with a grain of salt. being punk is about doing what makes you happy regardless of what others think, including some random person on the internet. these are just some bits of advice I’ve picked up for people who are looking to get into diy.)
-one rule you’ll hear a lot is not to put any political/controversial patches on your back. this goes double if you live in a conservative area or household. keep your safety in mind.
-for political patches i try to pick social issues that i feel comfortable talking about, because people will ask you about them. for example, the disability rights movement is very personal to me, so i have a lot of patches related to it. as a white person, i personally choose not to have anti-racism and blm patches, not because i don’t support those initiatives but because i don’t feel that i really have anything to add to the conversation. ultimately it’s up to you to create what you want, but be aware having the same recycled slogans and/or exclusively political patches can sometimes come off as performative
-on the same note, make patches for things you like! put your own personality and interests into it, that’s what makes your work truly one of a kind. bands you enjoy, things that make your project unique. the politics are a big part of the subculture, but they’re also one of the most controversial aspects, so don’t feel like you have to broadcast those beliefs if you’re not ready/in a safe environment
-don’t be afraid to fail. it’s like any skill, and the more practice you have the better you’ll get. there is a beauty to these early, “badly done” diy projects and that message is what the subculture is built on
lmk if you guys are interested in a more in depth tutorial of how i make mine, i really enjoy talking about diy and it’s a huge passion for me :]

Earth Day
As threats to the Earth grow, so too do the global initiatives that seek to preserve it, whether through volunteer work, donations, or political lobbying.
Earth, due to human activity, is in trouble. The ozone layer is depleting, ecosystems are being lost and people are starving and dying of dehydration. Endangered species are disappearing rapidly, our water and air is becoming increasingly polluted, and weather systems are being pushed to the extreme.
A scary picture indeed, but thankfully one we can all do something about! Earth Day, one of the first global initiatives to protect and conserve the earth, has become an annual event that strives for positive change on a global scale. It aims to inspire individuals, communities, businesses and governments all over the world to take action and help preserve the planet.
History of Earth Day
As the world’s largest environmental movement and the most widely celebrated secular occasion, with over 1 billion people and more than 75,000 partners involved each year across almost 200 countries, Earth Day has gone from strength to strength over the course of its history.
Founder Gaylord Nelson, a former US senator, thought of the idea after witnessing the 1969 oil spill in Santa Barbara, California. Inspired by the vigor of the student anti-war movement, he believed it was essential that energy was shifted to concerns about air and water pollution.
Originally envisioned as a campus teach-in event, Senator Nelson enlisted youth activist Denis Hayes to help organize the first Earth Day in 1970, and the pair opted for 22 April due to where it fell in the academic year, ensuring that the maximum number of students would be able to take part.
Nelson, Hayes and their team were able to spread the message far and wide, including to the national media, and promote events across the US. The occasion was a massive success, with 20 million Americans taking to the streets to celebrate the first Earth Day. They demonstrated in support of the cause, and groups that had previously been rallying around environmental issues separately came together on the day due to their shared values.
The first Earth Day helped put environmental protection on the political agenda and bring about change. That same year the United States Environmental Protection Agency was set up, and soon after various legislation was passed, including the Clean Air, Clean Water and Endangered Species Acts.
It wasn’t until 1990 that Earth Day went global, spreading the message to 200 million people in over 140 countries. By the millennium it had reached more than 180 countries and involved hundreds of millions of participants worldwide. And of course the year 2020 marked the 50th anniversary of Earth Day.
2016’s Earth Day was a particularly special year, as it heralded the United Nations’ adoption of the Paris Agreement. Signed by 175 countries, this international treaty established legally binding targets for tackling the climate emergency, ensuring that as many nations as possible are working together to cut emissions and prevent global warming.
As a day of action, Earth Day aims to promote environmentalism through engagement, activism, education, policy changes and peaceful protest. It has focused on various themes over the years, such as climate change, trees, clean water and a healthy environment for children, and multiple organizations and venues host events that showcase the importance of caring for the environment.
This vital day teaches people about the consequences of their behavior on the places and ecosystems in which they live. And it’s not just about the damaging effects on the environment itself, but also about the impact on people’s health, access to food and water, safety and livelihoods. To get involved, people choose to make conscientious changes such as recycling more, using renewable fuel and conserving water.
Earth Day Timeline

 1970
First Earth Day is celebrated
After witnessing a massive oil spill in California, Senator Gaylord Nelson from Wisconsin announces the idea of a teach-in on college campuses, choosing April 22 to fall between spring break and final exams to gain as much participation as possible. This bi-partisan event engaged 20 million Americans in working to protect the planet.
 1990
Earth Day takes on the globe
Taking Earth Day around the world, just 20 years after the original event the participation increased ten-fold to include 200 million people from at least 140 countries.
 1992
United Nations Earth Summit takes place
The United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) meets in Rio de Janeiro to address issues of sustainability and provide opportunities for collaboration around the topic.
 2000
Earth Day reaches record numbers
In celebration of the new millennium and the 30th anniversary of the observance, Earth Day includes 5000 environmental groups from 184 countries with activities all over the world.
How to celebrate Earth Day
There are a whole host of activities you can get involved in to mark this important occasion, not only around the globe but even in space! The Earth Day website allows people all over the world to find and share events designed to celebrate the day, from presentations and film screenings to cleanups and conservation efforts. This means that Earth Day enthusiasts can join things local to them or on the other side of the planet! And NASA often hosts an event from the International Space Station, for example livestreaming the image of our beautiful earth for all to see.
Another great way to celebrate Earth Day is by learning about what your actions do to the environment and why maintaining the earth’s ecosystems is vital to our survival. There’s a myriad of online resources – articles, quizzes, documentaries and so much more – to help us all find out more about our precious planet and the role we can play in protecting it.
If you feel able, why not donate money via Earth Day’s official website or to another environmental charity such as Greenpeace, the Rainforest Alliance or the Union of Concerned Scientists? Your support will help with a whole range of campaigns and projects, including pushing governments and businesses towards more environmentally friendly policies, preventing damaging practices such as deforestation and mining for fossil fuels and protecting those communities most vulnerable to the effects of climate change. You could also volunteer for local environmental groups and really make a difference where you live.
Above all, this occasion shouldn’t just be about one day, but rather a regular habit! Even the simplest of changes to our lifestyle can make a real difference. Switch to using an eco-friendly search engine, buy fruit and veg from the shop that isn’t wrapped in plastic, and put on an extra jumper rather than turning on the heating.
If you’re serious about the planet, then there’s plenty more you can do to live in a greener, more sustainable way, including powering your home with renewable energy, cycling and walking more and driving less (or buying an electric vehicle), reducing your meat and seafood consumption, recycling your waste, planting wildflowers in your garden for the bees and butterflies, and ensuring that your financial investments, for example, your pension fund, are contributing to green jobs and a green economy. Be sure to spread the word about National Earth Day through social media and let your friends and family know why protecting the earth is essential to you.
Earth Day FAQs
Is Earth Day international?

How is Earth Day celebrated?
Individuals, groups, organizations and communities can all celebrate Earth Day by raising awareness, participating in sustainability projects, volunteering, making donations and so much more.
Is Earth Day always on April 22?
Yes! Ever since its inception in 1970, Earth Day has been celebrated annually on April 22. The original idea to reach college students made this the perfect time between spring break and finals.
Who created Earth Day?
Although the stage was set at the 1969 UNESCO Conference in San Francisco, the execution of the day can be credited to US Senator Gaylord Nelson who proposed an environmentally focused day for college campuses. The idea grew from there.
Where did Earth Day start?
The first ideas for Earth Day were formulated in the United States and meant to be observed as “teach-ins” on college campuses, but the idea quickly grew and it eventually turned into an international day including most of the countries on the planet.

An introduction to VR passenger carriages, part 3: single-decker Intercity carriages
In the late 80s, we decided to introduce the Intercity branding - already commonly used elsewhere in Europe - as our new flagship service. And unlike the then-current flagship service erikoispikajuna (special express), the new Intercity services would have brand-new, dedicated carriages built for them: the Ex, Cx and Rx carriages. (As you maybe figured out, the x signified an Intercity coach).
Tumblr media
An Sr1-hauled rake of IC coaches. Behind the locomotive is a Cx first-class coach, followed by a Rx restaurant car and then three Ex second-class coaches. Suomen rautatiemuseo
As with all of the blue carriages after initial batch, and the Eil-class carriages, the Intercity coaches were designed in-house by our own design team. Compared to the blue carriages, the entrance doors were brought slightly towards the centre of the carriage, with toilets and technical spaces at the far ends, on the other side of the door; this allowed for the exact same body to be used in passenger and restaurant carriages. All underfloor tech was now covered in a heated housing, keeping the snow out at winter.
Tumblr media
A Cx carriage in the original livery. Photo by Janne Määttä, Vaunut.org
Externally, the IC carriages were given a hot white and red livery entirely different from the previous generations, with the name InterCity emblazoned on the sides in large letters. The Sr1 class locomotives were repainted to match the new livery, as there were no separate Intercity locomotives; some Sr1's were simply upgraded to match the 160 km/h top speed of the carriages. Some types of blue carriages that were used in Intercity trains (most notably restaurant and aggregate cars) were also repainted in the IC livery. Telling these apart from the real IC carriages was easy, as the IC carriages had a different, and somewhat more angular, roof construction.
Tumblr media
Interior of a Cx carriage. Photo by Antti Havukainen, Vaunut.org
The initial batch of IC carriages were built 1988 in-house at our Pasila workshop in Helsinki, but we soon came under criticism for "not supporting Finnish industry" (apparently our own mechanical workshop employing almost a thousand skilled workers was not "Finnish industry") and subsequent orders were placed at Valmet and, after they discontinued their rolling stock production, Transtech.
Tumblr media
Interior of an Ex carriage. Photo by Oula Ahlholm, from Vaunut.org
The last single-decker IC carriages were delivered in 1992. First class was discontinued from our trains in 2006, and the Cx carriages were rebuilt into Expt carriages, with compartments reserved both for travelers with pets and those so badly addicted to nicotine they cannot survive one train ride without smoking (originally, both the Ex and Cx carriages had compartments for smokers). Regular express trains (pikajuna) were also phased out after this point, making Intercity the standard branding for locomotive-hauled long-distance trains.
From 2011 onwards the Ex, Expt and Rx carriages were repainted in the current green and white livery. As this was applied to all of our passenger rolling stock (excepting the last remaining blue carriages), this meant losing the different branding on Intercity trains.
Tumblr media
An Ex carriage in the new livery in a rake otherwise consisting of the old red-liveried carriages. My photo from 2010 (actually my very first photo of our rolling stock in the current livery).
With the continued deliveries of double-decker IC coaches capable of reaching speeds up to 200 km/h (which will be the subject of the next entry), the first single-decker IC coaches were scrapped recycled in 2020 (which, franly, I think is a mistake, as the relatively new x-coaches could easily have been used to give additional capacity on services on routes where the tracks don't allow speeds in excess of 160 km/h).
Thanks to Jouni Eerola's book Pasilan Konepaja 1903-2003 for details on these carriages; there is surprisingly little info available on them online. There's plenty on the blue carriages and double-decter IC carriages, but very little on these babes.

୨ According to Ayato, the nickname “Chibimushi” ( Little Bug ) was born as a shameless mockery based on his first impression of Romantic, that is, that he was as 'small' and fragile as a bug. On the other hand, “Romi” emerged improvised after his first date as an alternative title since he was his current partner. He rarely calls Romantic by his name. ♡
୨ Curiously, in line with the previous information, Romantic is not short❕In fact, they are only a couple of centimeters apart with Ayato being the taller of the two.
୨ Romantic writes poems to Ayato since he found out that he wrote between classes.
୨ Since they were dating, they slept together in the same bed constantly❕ Usually in Romi's bed since the iron maiden is too narrow for the two of them. 💏🏻 ♡
୨ In an after story, Ayato found a white kitten in the school garden, quickly becoming fond of it and showing the kitten to Romantic. Ayato wanted to take him to the mansion without permission, but Romi suggested asking Reiji instead, and in the end they were able to keep the kitten they named “Copito”. ヾ(・ω・*)ノ
Tumblr media
୨ It is quite clear that Romantic suffers from poor anxiety and depressive symptoms. A topic that Ayato was not aware of until he found out for himself in ecstasy's prologue in Haunted Dark Bridal ; at first Ayato did not understand it, however, upon hearing both Reiji's explanation and Romantic's own, he did whatever he could to help ( in his own way, surely ). 。:゚(;´∩`;)゚:。 🩷 ♡
୨ Romantic and Ayato have quite similar traumas. For the same reason, Ayato tends to go to him whenever he feels that he has lost control of the situation, he has shown him that he can understand him and gives good advice to Ayato of which some reflect despite saying otherwise.

So I found a mech I'd never heard of before on Camospecs and the Sarna page for it reads as a tale of dueling corporate interests with a surprise visit from a mystery guest later on, so I did some extra digging and decided that the Wight was worthy of a Mech Talk.
The story of the WGT 'Wight' starts at the beginning of the Jihad with Luthien Armor Works in full crisis mode. The fall of Luthien and the total, nuclear destruction of their primary production facilities by agents of the Black Dragon society left LAW with the rock of an extremely limited industrial capacity, and as he had done a decade and a half earlier during the Clan Invasion, Coordinator Teddy K helpfully provided a hard place by demanding the Combine's remaining military industrial complex make good the losses suffered in combat with the Black Dragon traitors and the crusading Blakists. If Luthien Armor Works could produce a new design to bolster the DCMS, their enginuity and resourcefulness under crisis would be lauded as an example of Draconis superiority. On the other hand, if they couldn't meet the demands of the Dragon, then the Coordinator's trouble shooters would make sure the engineers' and managers' successors would.
The solution LAW settled on was the sort of corporate logistics tetris that can only exist in the in the desperation of wartime. First, they approached Wakazashi Enterprises and purchased a massive surplus of mothballed PNT-10K Panthers to cannibalize for 35 ton endosteel chassis and electronics that LAW had lost the capacity to produce. Then, they approached the ancient, multinational conglomerate StarCorps Industries with a deal. SCI would provide LAW with investment to improve their mobile factories, and in return LAW would write StarCorps in on the Wight project and send complete chassis to Son Hoa missing the primary armament for SCI to tailor to their own markets as they saw fit. StarCorps approved of the deal and Luthien Armor Works set about making their first iteration of the design.
Tumblr media
The WGT-1LAW/SC was the first model of Wight produced. Making use of StarCorps' investments, LAW spared few expenses integrating new technologies into their design. The 35 ton mech makes use of a compact 175 rate fusion engine, a recycled Alshain 560-carrier endosteel chassis, and 5.5 tons of heavy ferro-fibrous armor to provide a relatively nimble and durable chassis capable of of surviving significant internal damage while maintaininga top speed of 86 kph. The 1LAW/SC mounts a Lord's Light heavy PPC in its left torso as its primary armament, supported by a pair of Diverse Optics ER medium lasers in the right torso, allowing it to serve as a nimble, direct fire support and harassment unit ideal for medium range skirmishing. 10 double heat sinks struggle to manage the design's full heat load, relegating the design to bracket firing in most circumstances. As soon as the 1LAW/SC had left the factory, it was pressed into the hands of any unit available to take them and generally performed well. Pilots familiar with either the Hollander or the Panther should slot into the mech quickly, as it fills the same light, nimble medium range fire support roles both of those mechs do, albeit with a much longer operational time as the mech contains no explosive components and an extremely durable engine.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Despite funding the project, StarCorps was unimpressed with the initial Wight. Their engineers panned the design for its lack of mobility and determined to make their own version to meet their specifications for a light brawler. The heavy ferro-fibrous armor has been replaced with 7 tons of standard ferro-fibrous, providing marginally better protection for the Mech, and the primary armament has been replaced with a lighter Snub Nosed PPC and a complement of 5 jump jets, along with the ER lasers remaining in place. The resulting WGT-2SC is a more agile machine that, while technically capable of lower damage than the original 1LAW/SC, can fire all of its weapons in a more sustainable pattern than Luthien's design.
SCI then went on to produce an additional export model of the Wight, the WGT-3SC. This design reduces armor protection by a half ton, removes the PPC and jump jets, and installs a Plasma Rifle with 3 tons of ammunition in the right torso. Supposedly this design is for the Capellan export market, though it has since proliferated widely. The removal of the jump jets does make StarCorps' earlier bashing of the original joint design with Luthien stink of a cynical move to drum up sales for their own models. StarCorps scooping their business partner and beating them at marketing wouldn't exactly be an unusual tactic for the company.
Tumblr media
Not ones to take a snub lying down, Luthien Armor Works responded to their business partner's criticisms by producing the WGT-2LAW, a mech I'd argue goes too far in solving the original design's 'mobility problem'. The bulky heavy ferro-fibrous armor was removed from the chassis and replaced with an equal mass of light ferro-fibrous armor, significantly reducing protection while allowing enough space for the designers to fit seven improved jump jets into the torso. This allows the 2LAW to jump 210 meters at a time, clearing most buildings and terrain features easily. This, however, comes at the cost of not only protection but armament- when all was said and done, LAW only had space to install a single light PPC along with the pair of ER lasers. This results in a disappointing combat performance despite its extremely maneuverability. Fortunately, LAW sells conversion kits for both the 1LAW/SC and 2LAW to replace one of the medium lasers with a C3 slave computer, allowing the design to leverage its mobility to allow it to scout ahead and spot for networked lancemates.
And for a time, that was more or less where it was assumed the story of the Wight ended- Luthien Armor Works desperately scrambling around to avoid a mass beheading with a new mech design, with StarCorps sliding in to assist and then starting shit. Then rumors of another Wight design began to percolate through operator channels of the Inner Sphere in 3074- one which was far faster than any previous iteration of the design, armed with advanced pulse weaponry, and which seemingly had the ability to vanish from pursuers' sensors at the drop of a hat. It wasn't until 3081 that Irian Technologies' Market Intelligence and R&D departments finally pieced together these disparate rumors and dredged up a culprit.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The WGT-4NC 'Dezgra' is a SOF stealth mech created to assassinate field commanders and destroy vulnerable logistics networks deep within enemy lines, designed and fielded exclusively by Clan Nova Cat. No, you did not misread that. The Dezgra's components are largely sourced with an emphasis on availability and deniability, things that would be easy to obtain legitimately or otherwise and likely go overlooked. The mech uses a composite frame acquired from civilian aerospace manufacturers, an IS extralight 280 fusion engine found in a variety of designs in DCMS use like the Owens, Avatar, and Venom, and weapons, armor, and electronics components from Clan Diamond Shark merchants and extant Nova Cat production facilities. The only significant break in the greymarket chain is the mech's advanced stealth systems, a Star League spec Chameleon Light Polarization Shield and Null Signature System produced by Draconis contractors using archival data provided by the Nova Cats. From there, the components are assembled in small quantities at an unknown production facility for use by dishonored clan warriors in high risk assassination missions.
The result is a supremely frustrating mech to fight. The Wight Dezgra is capable of maintaining a top ground speed as fast as a Locust's and jumping 210 meters at a time. This speed paired with the design's advanced stealth systems means that its highly unlikely a Wight's target will ever be able to draw an accurate bead on their attacker, especially since its clan-spec large and medium pulse lasers allow the Dezgra to engage at long distances with ease. While the overall damage the design inflicts on its own is somewhat subpar and the 10 double heat sinks can quickly become overwhelmed, a full star of the mech can easily appear, melt a command mech to slag, and then vanish before the enemy has time to respond.
