"Have I told you all I promised? I am aware that at various places in my narrative I have pledged that this or that should be made clear in the knitting up of the story. I remember them all, I am sure, but then I remember so much else. Before you assume that I have cheated you, read again, as I will write again."

Some more Worlds Beyond Number scribbles for the wizard Steel.
Steel's descriptions in the podcast immediately made me think of Kushana from Nausicaa, and Miquella from Elden Ring, so I wanted some of their influences in the designs. As she is the Sword of the Citadel, I wanted her armour to mirror her own sword, as well as the architecture of the Erien itself.
(Sorry for all the sketchbook stuff lately, my 10 year old laptop desperately wants to die)

The thing that terrifies me about Steel isn’t that I don’t trust her, it’s that I trust her completely. I think she’s exactly who she says she is. It’s just that that is the Sword of the Citadel, and that as that Sword, the interests of the Citadel and of the Empire will always come first and are in fact made to be her own.
So I trust that she cares about Suvi and her friends, and I trust that she has great respect for spirits and for Ame and sees in her a valuable ally. But I also feel in my bones that push come to shove, if conflict arises between the party and the Empire, I know exactly which side of that conflict Steel is going to be on.

Random thoughts after finally finishing/catching up on Chapter 2 of The Witch, the Wizard, and the Wild One:
Steel still makes my spidey sense tingle. There was something about how she kept saying how she’s also a trusted friend of Grandmother Wren. Like she was trying to remind Ame and Suvi that they can trust her, rather than her being offended by the lack of trust. Grandmother Wren didn’t trust her enough to talk to her about The Coven of Elders, or about her other friends/allies at The Citadel. I may have missed it, but was it ever revealed who placed that curse on Grandmother Wren/Ame? We know it was broken and Ame got her memories back. But who placed it?
There was also something when Suvi tried to physically stop Ame from leaving, and Ame had a moment where her eyes glowed and all the good deeds would turn into punishments; like she has the power to punish anyone who tries to physically control her. Steel casted a detect magic spell and knew Suvi grabbed Ame, and knew of this…spell/curse(?). So part of me feels Steel was trying to subtly control Ame with building trust. Ame was desperate to leave The Citadel, and it felt like Steel was trying stall her - just wait until morning, just give me 2 hours to see if this prophecy is true.
I dunno, just my rambling, random thoughts.

Still thinking about ep23 "On Your Way".
I LOVE watching Steel work through the citadel justification system to make everything going on ok.
This is all alright. You know that's the whole joy of wizardry. As soon as you get good at solving a problem they give you a new one. So this is what we asked for. And life's not bad actually life's good.
We've seen Suvi do this kind of mental gymnastics so many times and to see it from a high ranking member of the citadel is so illuminating.
This is the world of the citadel and wizards. It's not inherently bad or good but it is a world of rigid structure and order. When that order goes away the wizards have to do this messed up little justification process just to keep going.
I AM OBSESSED!!!!

after listening to the first half of the of the gentle sea, I'm convinced that suvi has only had to put something down in the grocery aisle of wizard target maybe once or twice. not more than three times tho
her mom has hardly if ever said no

So I had this random idea of an alternate way the Strawberry Jam Sword could work based off this random canon divergent story idea I had in my head and I just want to share it
So basically, under normal circumstances, it doesn’t do much, it’s relatively harmless (well, to the wielder I mean, it’s still a powerful sword regardless). But when the wielder feels an extreme amount of emotion, at least in the negative side, and becomes emotionally vulnerable, it takes control, amplifying that emotion until the wielder is overtaken by it and basically becomes a force of destruction, destroying everything in its path whether it be friend or foe. How the wielder actually stops, I’m not sure, but it’s not easy
I realize it probably wouldn’t work in the games just based on how they work. I think this version would work best in something like a TV show, where you can actually explore that range of emotion
And honestly, it’s not that original of an idea. Or really that good. You could probably just insert this idea into some other show idea or something and it’d probably work. And it probably doesn’t work for Dark Choco
But I dunno, the idea looked cool in my head, I guess, and I suppose I just wanted to share

She's the sword.
A sword can be used to block, to protect. Or a sword can be used to slice or stab, to hurt.
She's the sword.
She's the sword of the citadel.
