I don’t know if it was already established in book one, but will we get to chose what our relationship with Tarrek is like? I can imagine him as a father figure to one Romanus, and a headache to another.
Tarek's relationship with Romanus is one of those things that's already defined. You may notice there aren't a lot of positive things you can pick to say or think about the man — Tarek is one of the few characters you don't have a lot of freedom to start with.
Just like you can't pick how Romanus reacts to the Inquisition, you can't pick to have a lot of love for the man.
But there'll be chances to either stand by White Company's leader… or begin to break away from him.

As we wish Reem and Khaled a happy birthday, please remember that Reem's brother, Tarek was murdered that day, too.
I think we focus on Reem a lot because she's the one seem in the video. But Tarek died that day, too, and we need to remember him.
“I combed his hair like he would always ask me to, like a photo he would always show me,” Nabhan said. “He loved his hair like that, now he’s gone.”

🎃🎃🎃Trick for you now. I turn the tables around. For a side character you like of The Devil is in the Details.
Okay, I did go big on this because this is kind of a major reveal. There aren't side characters yet in the story but there soon will be and this will be an important one.

Meet Tarek, Yara’s REAL and ONLY brother. The board should give you a clue which pantheon at least one of her parents belongs to.

Everyone loves a rival - your Vergils, your Jeannes, your Jetstream Sams. What kind of narrative foil/martial equal do you think Tarek would have? A Vampire Knight, honorable in combat but fully believing in vampiric superiority? A Death Knight Lich who wants to kill all? A Tiefling Antipaladin with no interest in subverting stereotypes, who only wishes for chaos? Maybe an Aasimar Paladin of the Crown, whose nation is simply evil, but in a way that might fool the philosophically disinterested?
Hmm. Those honestly sound delightful and It's been a long time since I've written about Tarek. Let me detail how Tarek would have faced such foes.
Tarek Al Amir and the Vampire Knight
The Margrave Nachzerer wasn't the first undead lord Tarek encountered, but he was among the very few who eschewed the Machiavellian power struggles among vampire hierarchies. Indeed, Nachzerer seemed more like an officer of a bygone age than a decadent noble, providing a unique danger as he could compel other greater undead to service without the typical enchantments or domination. Nachzerer's followers were truly loyal and that made him all the more dangerous in his agenda to create a vampiric army to bind lesser beings as either cattle or means of reproduction
But it allowed Tarek the opportunity the rare opportunity to orchestrate a challenge to vampire lord without dealing with either deception or expectation of betrayal, at least from the Margrave himself. Tarek faced the undead lord and challenged him in a contest of strength, one commander against another to spare their forces the bloodprice of war. To his credit, Nachzerer accepted, and both men forbade the intervention of assassins. They fought in the twilight until Tarek pierced the Margrave's with heart with divine steel.
Later in that evening, Tarek found and placed single wild rose upon Nachzerer's tomb to imprison rather than destroy his form outright. Once a year the rose is removed and the two talk, sometimes dueling once more, but that happens less and less as years go by. Honor is their shared point of interest, and Tarek is confident he can one day grant Nachzerer his parole and know there is one less darkness in the world.
Tarek Al Amir and the Death Knight
Saerus of the End proved a more simple and yet complex a foe. A Death Knight who'd integrated into lichdom, the process apparently twisting an already darkened soul to entropic ends, claiming to become the herald of multiverse's accelerating decay and ultimate demise. He was already ancient by the time Tarek found him, an invader from another world he'd left behind to a frigid doom.
He destroyed the vessel in one of the most harrowing battles of Tarek's career, the paladin barely escaping alive from the destruction of an ice shelf that had collapsed in the ensuing duel, only for the Lich to inevitably return moments later. Tarek escaped, and considered his options. He decided to subvert his enemy's design in a less round about way.
He reached out to Death. Not a simple thing to meet the true end of all things ahead of schedule, but it proved advantageous. Death took Sareus with gentle insistence, rebuking them for their ultimately empty philosophy.
Tarek Al Amir and The AntiPaladin
Discord the AntiPaladin disliked Tarek, and Tarek was less than enthused about them. They fight, they argue, they never really resolve anything. The former considers the latter a killjoy, the latter considers the former pointless. Tarek largely just tries to minimize contact, as Discord will inevitably pick whatever most contrarian path to whatever Tarek's goals are.
Tarek Al Amir and Oath of the Crown
Tarek's home of Falaak is a city-state with two particular claims to fame. First, it's an oasis that allows for viable trade within an otherwise inhospitable region. Secondly, it's a dragon graveyard. Falaak was the name of a red dragon who was cursed with a human form for evil deeds, and returned to his true form after redeeming himself protecting a group of humans, and his bones found their rest at that oasis. The bones were protected and became the focal point of a dragon cult that honored them, and other dragons who died nobly or who decided to come here to ensure their remains weren't defiled after death rested here.
It became an honored necropolis for dragon kind, and garnered the attention of those who would exploit it. Tarek was born in the early years of the city, and when empire tried to reach across the wastes to claim it, they found the paladin and his order in their way. One such interloper was Ser Aurelius, a fellow aasimar. To this day, Tarek and Aurelius are old enemies who thus far have engaged their conflict diplomatically and in the shadows. On the surface, they are ambassadors at cross purpose, tense but polite. Behind the scenes, Tarek has faced assassins, spies, and Aurelius himself endlessly for years, ensuring that Aurelius' empire cannot conquer Falaak from within.
There will likely come a time Aurelius will discover a way to push armies across the wastes to force Falaak's submission. But that day has yet to come.

Get ready for a freshly baked "Lost But Now Found" AU drabble. Basically, Bill and Tarek come to the Boiling Isles to take revenge on Colli. They're still mad that the starboy didn't let them kill King. Hunter is not amused that these assholes are after his beloved little brother! Here I go, my sweet fellas!
Drabble: The Grimwalker And The Titan Trappers
"Our target is over there! Unfortunately, we can't kill him due to his immortality! But we're going to make him suffer! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" Bill laughed manically as he and Tarek spotted a certain small starboy with otherworldly fluffy lavender hair and a heart of gold.
Colli, who happily floated through Bonesborough, wasn't alone. Hunter was with his beautiful little Sunshine and held protectively his small hand. The young Grimwalker's magenta eyes were filled to the brim with love and adoration for Colli. Suddenly, Colli was hit with a powerful spell!
Bill and Tarek attacked the eternal child out of the shadows! "Ow! What was that?" Colli asked, clearly scared and confused. Colli was bleeding. His dark blue blood was running down his arm. Hunter was not amused! "COME OUT, WHOEVER YOU ARE!" The former Golden Guard yelled.
Tarek was the first one to reveal himself, and then Bill. "YOU! I've heard about you! You are the Titan Trappers! You tried to kill my other little brother King! And you already threatened Colli back then!" The blonde boy charged at both men. As for Colli, the celestial boy's injuries began to heal up.
Hunter gave Tarek and Bill the beating of their lifetime. Both decided to retreat, yet they planned to come back. As soon as they were gone, Hunter wrapped his arms around Colli. "I'm glad that you're alright, my sweet little Sunshine." Hunter whispered softly as he showered Colli's adorable multi-colored face with lots of soft and loving brotherly kisses.
The young Grimwalker intertwined his fingers with Colli's. He removed Colli's hat and buried his nose into the lavender fluff. Hunter breathed in the sweethearted starboy's lovely scent. Then, he pressed with infinite tenderness his forehead against Colli's.
"I'm not going to let these jerks hurt you ever again!" Hunter said softly as he cuddled Colli close to his chest. Colli was Hunter's beautiful little Sunshine. The light of his life and his whole world, whom he loved more than anything.

Will we meet Tarek in future book? I can't imagine how will Tarek react to what happen in Terragona.
I can say that Tarek, if and when he hears what has transpired, will be… furious seems like such an understatement. His anger will burn cold, but it will burn. And Lord, everyone knows how much the kiss of ice can sting.

Khaled Nabhan, grandfather of Reem and Tarek, is giving away toys to children because he wants to bring them joy. Weeks ago, there was another video of him comforting injured patients in the hospital.
People who want to continue this genocide are not good enough to lick his sandals.

[Rancore]
"Apollo 13, aiuto!"
"Pieni di problemi seri qua il comandante"
"Houston! Siamo nello spazio
E col cazzo che passo e chiudo
Ma la chiudo e la passo!
