Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas!!

I made these a few weeks ago before I went full throttle with the big Gelfling oc project. Just some happy couples in winter sweaters lol

The first is the sweet Adora x Takoda ship! Aaahhh they’re too precious. I can’t wait to draw more of them because there’s a bunch to explore.

The second is Tau and Enyo who I believe are more flirting with each other. They’re interested in one another but neither has made a move to deepen the bond to a romantic one. Tau was originally going to have a beefy Dousan boyfriend because my sister demanded it lol Buut I feel like Tau is interested more in pretty softer featured Gelfling.

Enyo is on her road to becoming a better Gelfling. Some time after Fleur leaves Stone-in-the-wood is when Enyo explores Thra and begins rethinking certain beliefs her parents taught her. Fleur 100% calls Enyo out when she sees Enyo dating someone who isn’t Stonewood. Enyo’s growth is another story to be told.

We might see more Tau x Enyo because I think they look cute lol

Lastly, we have the Stonesan parents Maeve x Bhihaar! I love them and they are that married couple who is just so happy to be married and unafraid of PDA. I believe the PDA took some time for Bhihaar to get use to but he enjoys holding Maeve’s hands and pecking her cheek in public. Maeve on the other hand is unashamed- she loves her man and boy does she have a good man 😆

I have another set but I just haven’t finished it yet, so be prepared to see that in time

New fan character called skekTau, by skekMal out of skekSa. Tau has dwarfism which makes her the same height as an average Gelfling.

The blue feather on her hat is one she had plucked from Sa, the scars don’t have a story yet and she doesn’t have a title yet.

POV: this post is gonna hit the nostalgia for some of you lol

This series is an ode/friendship letter to 2007 - 2012 AMVs but with a Gelfling twist lol One of these Gelfs is listening to Cascada- we all know which song lol

Only six so far. Idk who will be the cut off but I know who is gonna be in the next bunch!

I had come back from Anime NYC when I sat at a pizzeria that played; Pain by Three Days Grace and when I tell you my nostalgia ignited- I remembered the early days of YouTube (the anime side of it) and the thousands of AMVs my sister and I would watch. Then I also remembered those iPod anime compilations some people posted where it mimicked the iPod ads and used silhouettes of said characters.

OMG the music! The AMVs with the ICONIC songs of the genre and era of early internet anime fandom. The endearing moviemaker watermarks, filters, and transitions. Fanart used without the artist’s knowledge or consent. A lot of dance pop. I was thrown back and it only continued when my sister and I reminisced and listened to some of our favorite AMV songs.

What a marvelous time. Literally any song/most songs you typed in would have an amv, or a slideshow. I believe many of the AMVs my sister and I watched are either deleted, privated or taken down for copyright. The worst is a, Nightwish Sleeping Sun AMV that was BEAUTIFUL sad but well paced, but I believe it’s gone because I can’t find it anymore.

Present day AMVs are good- I saw a recent one for Demon Slayer S2 that was chef’s kiss. The crisp animation makes them more epic compared to the charming but also kinda wonky animated clips in AMVs of anime before 2010-ish.

This was also a mini test to see how recognizable some of my Ocs are when they’re just a silhouette. I’m gonna tag their names below but for funsies in my long description I won’t name them although the placement of a few of them is gonna give it away lol

2 of these Ocs belong to my dear friend @jack-toons / @myfanartblogplusshippingtrash Again, I think we can all tell who they are because 1) their characters have strong silhouettes. And 2) the Gelfling they’re next to give it away lol

I live! Just very busy with a lot of things.

In between a commission, I pieced together this reels for IG. These things usually look neater due to video editing apps buuuut I don't have one of those yet (and don't know how to use them 🥲) hence the shaky video and sound.

There were a few ocs that I heard the voices and knew just who I would put for them. Others I had to choose what sounded close in my head.

I love how no one really likes Tore and he ended up getting the longest part lol

All of these are sketches from many months- about a year ago. If some look nicer than others that's most likely why.

Cha'l gets the lost one because he CANNOT sing to save his life. Only his wife, Shiyoon, can listen to him without covering her ears. It's also funny that the only gelf who can't sing, he also gets a long part.

In the future I want to redo this with better drawings and probably different ocs.

I know myself and I will write a paragraph explaining why I chose who for each part, but I'll save everyone the lecture 😅

Remember Tau? Here they are with their eldest sister Captain Serafin (Sera). They’re both pretty smug but Tau is much more smug than Sera who’s more of an intimidating badass. They have 2 other siblings and these Vapra turned Sifa are the rebellious one lol

Captain Sera is the wife of Captain Ortun of Cha’l’s ship. She’s no stranger to danger and enjoys the daring adventures as well as getting into scraps. She’s seen a lot and done a lot and loves showing off her face scar; it was the moment she truly felt like she broke free from the pressures of being a Vapra. She’s also very easygoing and is the a Captain to approach about special events for the crew.

Tau is learning to become a Captain of a ship like their sister and brother-in-law. When they aren’t studying and perfecting their skills, Tau enjoys teasing their friends. Tau and Kiel have different ways of teasing but are kinda similar. Everyone’s favorite target is Cha’l lol. Tau is also very artsy due to helping their family with their painted glass business.

Thank you @jack-toons for making me love them so much!!! You already know I have a ton of sketches planned and Tau and Shiyoon are on that list lol

I did my Oc questions on IG and here are all of my questions relating to my Sifa babies! I write a lot so the question bar only fit Sera and Tau but everyone was included lol

As always, Azra is always up to grossing other Gelfling out. She has no shame in making the Ta as nasty as possible and saying that it has to be smelly and bitter to work; it’s just a made up excuse, she knows that if someone really wants to see their future they will drink anything. And that Gelfling is gonna have a really bad time when his future happens lol

I really love SkekSa’s design (I have yet to read the last three novels) and it was nice drawing her albeit a redraw of the cover of “Tides” Captain Ortun and Sera; mostly Ortun, get nervous when she comes around. Cha’l doesn’t care for the Skeksis except for SkekSaand both he and Kiel are happy to be noticed by her!

Kiel isn’t always the prankster/trickster we know and love, I believe this is the moment that he and Tau become friends.

And Captain Sera is such a boss! I love her design! Both her and Ortun are fun but Sera is more fun and more intimidating lol

As we can see from the screenshots I forgot crop these were meant to be posted a lot earlier lol

I still have quite a few of these IG questions to answer. I wanted to share these four because they were my most fun. There’s another that I will post up but it will be included with any other angsty questions

The first one is a few Ocs and their taste in music. I separated them and wrote more but I forgot to watermark them. I don’t think anyone would steal these drawings but still.

Sera loves opera and takes Ortun and Tau to them as often as she can. It’s one of the few activities she keeps up with from her childhood. Ortun wasn’t the biggest fan but grew to enjoy opera and is quite the connoisseur lol On IG I had the two of them listening to a talented opera singer, Maria Callas. My friend introduced me to

Fleur and Takoda in particular like just about everything. If it’s got a catchy beat they will be fans of the song/artist/group. I had watched, Turning Red, before drawing this and had them dancing to, I Want It That Way, by the Backstreet Boys. The two of them would be those friends who sing with a hairbrush and put on a performance in front of an invisible audience lol

Azra I want to say gets introduced to anime and amvs by her soul sister and discovers a bunch of rock and symphonic metal. She has no regrets watching amvs lol She’s listening to Nightwish, Sleeping Sun. A personal favorite song my sister and I discovered one day that cemented our days surfing YouTube for good amvs

Cha’l can be an old soul and enjoys music similar in beat to Frank Sinatra. It’s easygoing and Cha’l has to have music on when he’s cooking for his family. He’s the type that can play music and not get distracted if he’s focused on a task. He was listening to, “Poetry in Motion” a song my sister showed me from a Fisheye amv from Sailor Moon! But, Cha’l also loves music that makes you want to dance! I’m getting pictures in my head- like if he’s making a recipe he’s done a thousand times he has no problem letting the music speak and make him dance. If I drew him dancing he’s be listening to either Hector Lavoe, Marc Anthony or Elvis Crespo because those artists hold specific moments I see Cha’l and his family doing

Fleur singing in the tavern! There was a commercial that was playing all the time (maybe January? That’s when I believe I drew this) and it gave me jazz bar vibes. The poses and composition were taken from a childhood favorite movie of mine. If anyone could guess it will get a digital cookie! I will say the movie is a direct to video sequel to a much better movie. I’d give another hint but the other hint is giving too much away

MY FAVORITE!!! Lol Kiel and his expressions. He and Fleur are the most expressive but Kiel is the king of expressions. Kiel is a menace to Captain Ortun and he thrives off of knowing that. I love how close he and Tau are. He’s an only childling so Tau gives him a taste of what having a sibling is like. If Tau looks like they’re in vampire garb that’s because I was looking at/thinking about, Interview with the Vampire lol

Lastly, Gelfling Viara and Podling Fleur! Something I never would’ve considered. Even as a Podling Fleur still looks like she can take anyone on while looking cute doing it lol Viara is still just as sweet looking as a Gelfling.

A while ago I answered some IG questions! Here are 2 of them featuring @smaaenart Podling Oc Velan who is Viara’s husband and their twins Kaj and Brin!

Now the Podling family has a fourth member in their daughter Neera. It’s a coincidence that Smaaenart suggested the name Neera because she was my favorite character in Disney’s Dinosaur. I swear that movie was my childhood omg!

Viara is super happy to have the family she’s always wanted and to share that with her father.

The second is on Kiel and Tau sharing a brain cell at the realization that Velan has kids. At the time both are surprised to know someone with kids. Idk if Cha’l and Shiyoon were expecting yet or if Kiel and Sammi had begun adopting. Regardless, Kiel and Tau are the most surprised lol

@imagin8 I interpreted this as my Gelfling Ocs lol

These were all done on my train rides the past two days (hence why I personally think Cha’l and Kiel look slightly off) I also added Viara because she was my second Dark Crystal Oc and she deserved to be included. Originally this was going to be most of my young adult ocs but then Ofir, Rizzi, Sera and Ortun said, “hold up! What about....us?”

I need to get back into human proportions because some of their noses are slightly off. I also have a ship I am getting tempted to draw from an anime I’ve watched and my IG feed shows me all the cutest drawings of them.

Maybe I’ll do some of the canon characters as humans. I’m afraid my interpretations of them won’t be so unique or something that hasn’t been done.

Anywho~ these are just a portion of my Gelfling (and one Podling) ocs as humans! I hope you all enjoy this!

Tau and Azra representing their non-binary and asexual flags.

Idk if the filter I used works super great with these two but I wanted them to match the previous post.

A bit of context: these two aren’t in a romantic relationship but they know of each other because one of them is close friends (ex of but now very close friends) with Cha’l and the other is the soul sister to Shiyoon.

I haven’t come up with a scenario where they interact with each other but I assume they’d get along. Both are friends with Kiel (oddly both have an almost sibling relationship with him; Tau much more than Azra)

I want to make it a point to draw Tau more. They are very playful and enjoy playing along with Shiyoon’s antics to embarrass Cha’l or teasing Kiel when they notice him catching the lovebug lol

@jack-toons and I were talking about Cha’l’s love life and of course I had to draw his exes lol. I can’t stop creating characters it’s too addicting! Cha’l and Fleur have complex relationship issues. Where Fleur must learn that love at first sight isn’t always on your side (for her first encounter with love) and Cha’l endures some of the complications that a relationship can have. I picture Cha’l having multiple run-ins with romance but 2 of those relationships were dear to him.

Lalit was Cha’l’s first love. They would meet in secret for about a trine because her family didn’t approve of their relationship. By the end of their trine together, Cha’l decided to call it off because he felt they weren’t deserving of only experiencing love in the dark and he didn’t want her to be disowned by her family.

Ofir/Tau (I’m leaning more towards Tau) was Cha’l’s last relationship and they were together for a good while. They met when Cha’l joined Kiel’s ship after Kiel had pulled a trick on them. From that moment on Cha’l became closer with them. The two of them had a fun and adventurous relationship but it eventually grew colder as they became more distant and wanted different things in life by the end of their relationship. They remain really good friends though and often share drinks together with Kiel.

Cha’l has no idea what he’s in for in the future lol

Cha’l and Kiel’s Captain has a face and name! He also has a wife who’s just as daring as him!

Captain Ortun (his name means by the shore in Welsh) is a Sifan Captain who’s a little shorter than the average Gelfling but has the build of a warrior. He loves his ship almost as much as his wife, Serafin, she prefers to be called Sera. Ortun reluctantly agreed to have Kiel join his ship because he owed a debt to Kiel’s parents.

Seraphim is a Vapra turned Sifan Captain. She’s Tau’s older sister as was able to get Tau to join their ship and help them learn how to become a Captain one day. Sera is no spring chicken to danger and has gotten herself in a few close encounters when she and Ortun were younger.
