Summary:

“I don’t want to see him again,” he says, hoping that leading with the part he knows Ted probably won’t have an issue with might make the next bit less difficult, “and I know you didn’t say that I should, but I also don’t… I tried, and I don’t want to forgive him neither. And that one you did say I should do, and I know you said it was for me and not for him, but it still feels like- like saying nothing he did mattered."

Jamie takes Ted's advice to heart - he forgives. Or he tries to. But it doesn't make things better. It doesn't free him from anything, and the text he sent his father makes everything so much worse, even though it hasn't been answered yet. When Jamie reaches his breaking point, he goes through a series of three conversations, seeking help determining whether something is wrong with him, whether it's okay to not forgive, and whether it's okay to decide that he's done trying.

Ted Lasso S3E11 Thoughts- Mom City

Why do i feel like the players wanting Nate back unanimously is a dream sequence… it seems too ‘perfect’ to be true- never mind, I guess

The blue moon in this episode (like in the beard episode w Man City) ties in to its ‘dream-like’ atmosphere, rare events, and Man City (the blue moon chant).

“And the key symbol there, that makes the whole thing beep until Beard comes over and fixes it for me.”- Ted. Aww i love references to Ted and Beard’s relationship!

“That goal is a lie. It should be retracted from the records. I apologize to everyone, especially the kids.”- Jamie

"You can keep those well manicured mitts of yours wherever you’d like!”- Ted’s Mom. Haha the realization dawning on Rebecca’s face as she said that!

“Did Teddy ever tell you about the time he ate a candy bar made of poop?” Reference to a throwaway line from another episode.. Ted Lasso never misses with the details!!

Damn didn’t expect Beard’s backstory but makes sense for his character and the story

The scene between Ted and his mom was really good but all I could focus on was Ted leaving his apartment door open that whole time..

Not the abrupt cliffhanger ending.. i mean we all know what Ted was gonna say.. but still….

I mean the next episode is titled ‘So Long, Farewell’, so I guess it’s not really a cliffhanger…

Just remembered that Shrinking is going to go up against Ted Lasso at the Emmys no doubt. Which means a Jason versus Jason showdown (my pick is Sudeikis after Ted S3E11) but it also means that Harrison Ford will be nominated against all our footballers. And he killed it in that show.

Funny that Brett who worked on both will also likely be nominated against Harrison Ford. What I really would love to see is a Phil Dunster nom and win though, I can’t lie

So my very short recap of Ted Lasso S3E11 is: Rebecca munching on a kebab while Ted's mom talks about the time he was arrested for stealing a car. Jade munching on a kebab while Beard tells Nate about the time he stole Ted's car. And just before Beard went to Nate's to tell him that story, Ted was whistling...Islands in the Stream, sung by Dolly Parton and Kenny Fucking Rogers.

It's either endgame (and by endgame, I mean I think it's very last second aka Sleepless in Seattle where they just hold hands) or we are being deliberately baited.

Ted Lasso S3E11

Dies.  This hit me so hard on so many levels. 

Spoilers -->

SCREAMS.  YES, Jamie.  Yes, you get into a nice positive thruple with Roy and Keeley.  This is all I ever wanted for you baby boy <3

(Highly doubts it will actually happen, but hope springs eternal)

THE POSTERS.  MY GAWD.  I mean, we knew about the Roy Kent poster all this time, but the Keeley one?  And this is TEENAGE Jamie’s room.  He’d never even MET either of them when he’d acquired these posters.  Keeley’s is probably there for comedic effect, but like, I can’t help wondering if Roy’s poster being right up beside that of the girl Jamie was and probably still IS in love with doesn’t suggest a similar level of attraction.

Le sigh.  

Other great things:

(1)

I have no idea who this actor is, but I’m in love with their character.  Danny Rojas cheerfully waving at Van Dam after breaking the dude’s nose.  TY.

(2) Beard’s back story.  Holy fuck.  This show isn’t about religion, but as someone unpleasantly acquainted with Bible Belt Christianity and WASPs, I can’t look at Ted Lasso and think, this man is the EXACT ideal of what a Christian should be.  He’s invested in forgiveness, he’s non-judgemental, and patient, and kind, and selfless.  Those verses in Corinthians about ‘love keeps no record of wrongs... always hopes, always perserveres?’  That’s this fucking character.  

(3) Again, Jamie/Roy dynamic.  Jamie crying in Roy’s arms.  Fuck.  That is so adorable and sexy and I love Jamie so much.  Yes, sweetie.  You let that big strong man hold you close <3

 (4) Jamie being a Mama’s boy.  Didn’t think about it, totally makes sense.

(5) Trent and Mama Lasso.  

(6) The random octogenarian cheerfully doing the ‘walk of shame’ in the morning, except ‘walk of shame’ would seem to be a misnomer, because why should anyone be ashamed to apparently have great sex and look that awesome at her age?
