Would You Still Love Me If I Was A Worm?

Word Count: ~800 CW: fluff, f!reader

In all your years of living with and loving your husband, Kuroo, you’ve always known him to be a self-assured and confident man. However, tonight his usual unflappable demeanor was nowhere in sight. Instead, you look over to find him fiddling with the cuff of his sleeve in the mirror with a small frown on his face and a tinge of uncertainty.

Usually, your husband plays the role of your hype man, but as you continue to watch him glare at his reflection in the mirror, you decide that it’s a role you’ll gladly play for him as well.

“What’s going on in that mind of yours, Tets?” you ask.

You can feel him tense as your arms make their way around his middle.

A contemplative look crosses your husband’s features. “Would you still love me if I was a worm?”

Your arms drop back down to your sides, but Kuroo is quick to bring them back up to him. He interlaces your fingers with his own.

“I knew it was a mistake to show you how to work TikTok,” you mutter with a shake of your head, but one look at the pout on his face lets you know that the issue at hand goes a bit deeper than a silly meme.

He squeezes your hands. “I’d love you if you were a worm, you know,” he says barely concealing the childish whine at the end of his words.

You sigh. “I’d love you if we were both worms.”

But this response does little to help your husband’s mood. “I see how it is,” he grumbles as he lets go of your hands. “So much for forever then.”

“Tetsurou,” you nuzzle your head into his shoulder blade, but you get no response. You bring your head back up and walk around to stand by his side. His eyes are still glued on the mirror in front of him, but at least this time he brings up his arm inviting you to cuddle into his side.

You stand on your tiptoes and gently cradle his head with both hands to steer his attention away from the mirror.

“Love,” you whisper softly. “Something tells me this isn’t about worms.”

He lets out a heavy exhale before taking your hand and bringing it down to his stomach.

“Feel this?” he asks, and you look at him in confusion.

“Yeah?” you respond. “What about it?”

He sighs once more. “I didn’t need to use my belt with my pants today.”

You fail to see his point and so he continues.

“I didn’t need to use my belt with my pants today, because I was having a tough time getting it done up in the first place. And don’t even get me started on the shirt I wanted to wear today because that’s a total waste as well,” he explains in one what seems like one breath. His eyes dart between you and the mirror.

“I’m a worm now!” he exclaims.

You bring your hands back up to cradle his face, but you can’t hide the tinge of amusement in your eyes. “Tetsu, love,” you say soothingly. “I love you no matter what, you know that right?”

“You just said you’d only love me if we were both worms,” he mumbles, and you have to resist the urge to roll your eyes at your husband.

“Okay, okay. Worm-clause notwithstanding,” you start. “There isn’t anything that would make me question how much I love you.”

A small smile begins to inch his way onto his face, but you can tell that the issue still isn’t resolved.

“You’ll still love me even if I turn into a gross old man with a beer belly?” he asks as he brings your hand to squeeze the light layer of fat on his abdomen.

You shake your head and chuckle. “Tets, what part of forever did you not understand in our vows? Plus, you’ll be my old man with a beer belly.”

“So you’ll still be attracted to me then?” and despite the grin on his face, the insecurity is clear as day in his words.

“Kuroo Tetsurou,” you mumble into his chest as you squeeze him in your embrace. “You will always be the most handsome man in my book and I will always be here to remind you of that.”

He slumps into your arms.

“For the record,” you whisper into his ear. “I think your body is perfect. You’ll be everyone’s favourite DILF.”

It takes a couple of seconds for your words to process, but as soon as he does, he steps away from your embrace. “Are you -?” he begins and you nod.

“We’re going to have a little worm!” he cries out not caring if the neighbours next door file a noise complaint.

You nearly facepalm. “We are not calling the baby that!”
