Part 2 (Travis Stoll)

It's been quite a long times since he had such vivid nightmares.

During the Titan War, he would dream of Luke every night, icy blue eyes meeting his as his older brother stabbed him again and again and again.

Tonight, however, he dreams of Connor.

His brother is running in the woods, sometimes looking back to see something making him curse and speed up.

Travis frowns when he sees that Connor doesn't carry a weapon.

His heart skips a few beats when he sees blood on his shirt.

He freezes when Connor trips, scrambling to get back up but it's too late.

Travis stops breathing when a massive hellhound jump on his brother.

When he opens his eyes, his ears are ringing with the sound of ripping flesh and Connor's groans of pain.

He's trembling.

His heart is pounding, his head is dizzy.

It's just a nightmare a demigod one

Connor is in Camp and safe monsters can get in

You'll see him tomorrow under a shroud

He's sweating and he can't breathe.

He's having a panic attack.

Breathe Travis, just breathe.

His inner voice, sounding suspiciously like Will, soothes him a little, enough for him to stand up after ten minutes of calming himself down.

It's the middle of the night, the moon shining brightly through the window.

He never had prophetic dreams before. There is no reason for him to have them now. He should just go back to sleep so he can wake up early in the morning.

Except that Travis knows he won't be able to rest, to untie the knot in his stomach until he holds his brother in his arms, hears his heart beating and a "what the fuck are you doing here ? It's the middle of the night moron".

He quickly gets dressed and jumps out of the window.

After Luke's little murder attempt with the flying shoes, Chiron confiscated them all, never to be seen again.

It delighted many campers who thought that their disappearance would make it harder for Connor and him to prank them.

They were partly right.

"Maya !"

White wings come out of his ankles, beating so fast they are blurred.

He missed flying, the sense of liberty it gave him.

He can't do it in the daylight, his little show attracting a lot of monsters and he's usually dead asleep at night.

Tonight's an exception though, one he'll fully enjoy.

Racing with the wind spirits, disappearing behind clouds, floating among the stars bring him back to his childhood.

He used to fly every night, performed tricks for Connor looking at him with awe from the ground.

He doesn't really know why he got more divine powers than Connor. If he has to guess, he would say that Hermes didn't want to risk two powerful children, fearing the monsters they would attract.

To his great relief, his little brother never showed any sign of jealousy toward his abilities, pushing him instead to explore them as much as possible.

It doesn't mean Connor does not have any powers, he is way faster than he is and in charge of Camp's business activities. He doubts Dionysus cares much about mortal money and Chiron is too busy with training demigods.

Camp Half-Blood appears below him, the valley illuminated by braziers. He waits until Hermes Cabin is clear from any harpies, after all these years he knows exactly how they rotate, and lands softly on the porch.

The blanches are still creaking, paint is peeling off and the welcoming sign above the door is one moment away from knocking out the next person entering the cabin.

He's glad to see his home haven't changed since he left.

Travis reaches for the doorknob but doesn't open it.

His stomach is churning, his hands slightly trembling.

What if he opens the door and Connor's bed is vacant ?

Stop worrying. He'll be there, snoring like an hibernating bear.

But if he isn't ?

He will. Open the door.

Come on.

Open it.

He turns the doorknob and enters the silent cabin.

It's dark, he barely sees anything.

Fortunately, years of sneaking out and making sure he didn't hit any campers sleeping on the ground make it very simple to reach Connor's bed. Especially now that the floor is free from sleeping bags.

They shared a bunkbed before he left for college, he slept on the lower bed while Connor took the other one.

From the ground, Travis can see an irregular form on the bed.

Relief shakes his whole body as the sight of his brother's form sleeping soundly.

It's was just a nightmare, a really realistic one but still a creation on his brain.

He smiles, mischief dancing in his eyes.

He did come all the way up here to wake up his brother did he not ?

He lays down on his bed and give a firm kick to where he supposes Connor's stomach should be.

Not a noise.

Travis frowns, did he really manage to miss ?

He gives another kick.

Still no insults from his dear brother or the sound of a body hitting the mattress.

"Connor ?"

Travis freezes and turns to see Cecil looking at him with incredulity.

"What are you doing here ?", his brother whispers furiously, still looking at him with wide eyes.

"Erm, it's my cabin ? Last time I checked I'm supposed to sleep in my cabin."

He answers at Connor's name like it was his that was said. It's second nature by now.

"You're supposed to be at the infirmary ! Will said that your wounds were critical, this is not the time to- wait you're not injured. Travis ?"

Cecil is looking at him with even wider eyes, very much like a fish, and it would have been very funny if it wasn't for what his little brother just said.

You're supposed to be at the infirmary.

Critical wounds.

He bolts out of his cabin and nearly kick out the infirmary's doors.

Only one bed has its curtains pulled.

A hand on his shoulder stops him from opening them.

"And here I was thinking about how break the news gently to you. It seems I won't have to.", Will jokes, a strained smile etched on his face, a futile attempt at normalcy.

"I need to see him Will, please."

"I'll let you in a minute. Just... just let me explain a few things first."

Will leads him to the nearest cot, gesturing him to sit next to him.

The son of Apollo is fidgeting which does nothing to calm down Travis.

"Dryads brought him back yesterday. We don't what beast attacked but judging from the gashes I would say it was a hellhound of some sorts"

"Bing, bing, bing we have a winner !"

"Still hiding your stress under poor comedy timing ?"

"Yes. Continue please. And it was a hellhound, saw it in a dream."

"It got him pretty good Travis, his arms and legs are fine but his torso got mauled. Definitely going to scar."

Travis wills his hands to stop trembling, it's all they seemed to do since he woke up.

"But he'll live ?"

His friend doesn't respond and advert his eyes.

"Will", Travis says urgently, "is my brother going to make it ?"

"I don't know."

He resists the urge of slamming Will against a wall and asking him what he means by "I don't know". He's been friend with him for a very long time, he knows Will already had his fair share of blaming by other campers and he'll be damned if he's added to that list.

Even more, it's clear Will is feeling guilty about it.

"Why wouldn't he live ?"

"Better to show you."

Will gets up, walks toward Connor's bed and pulls the curtains.

His brother has never looked more peaceful and in pain at the same time.

He's pale, a contrast to his normally tanned skin, and seems to be sleeping. However the way his fists are clenched and the sweat covering his face indicate he's not resting at all.

Travis lets out a pitiful sob, one he's been holding back since he met Cecil. To see his little brother in this state is making him sick.

His Connor is laughter, mischievous smile, whispered plans about fireworks and spells, wind as he speeds next to him. His Connor is always moving, always having something to occupant his mind with, wether it is paperwork about strawberries's sales or quantic physics.

His Connor does not belong on a infirmary bed but in the green grass as he watches him gleefully soars in the air.

Travis falls into Will's arms, letting the tears fall freely without shame.

"How much ?", he manages to ask, face buried into his friend's hair.

"mmmh ?", muses Will.

"How much is he hurting ?"

"Not much I promise. I injected him a small dose of nectar mixed with morphine."

"Good, thank you.", Travis says shakily.

"You're welcome Travis," murmurs soothly Will, "you're welcome".

They stay like this for a long time, Will not letting go of him until he dried his body out of tears.

"Ow, who knew crying so much gives you a headache ?"

"Everybody Travis, it's common knowledge."

"Says the doctor."

His best friend rolls his eye fondly, handing him a glass of water and an aspirin.

"What's wrong with Connor then ? There's must be more than the physical injuries."

"Woah look at that, you can be smart ! Don't look at me like that Travis, you're not the only one with bad coping mechanisms. His injuries are relatively easy to heal, it's just a little tiring but nothing I can't handle. The real problem is the poison-"

"The poison ? How the fu-"

"Language or I'll curse you."

"-dge, the fudge, did my brother got poisoned ?"

"I don't know, but it's irrelevant now. What I do know however are the effects of the poison."

Will takes a big breath and Travis awaits the inevitable bomb he's going to drop.

"It includes fever, hence the sweating, hallucinations sometimes, really depend of the victims, and a whole lot of secondary effects."

"What's the main one, Will ?"

The son of Apollo looks at him with pity.

"Death within three days after the injection."

Death

The word resonates in Travis's mind, his brain trying to fully comprehend the situation.

His brother is dying.

The boy he swore to protect is dying in front of him and he can do nothing to save him.

"Is there nothing we can do ? Can't you heal him ?"

Guilt flashes in Will's eyes, making Travis feel even more miserable for inflicting it on his friend.

"I'm sorry Travis. I swear that I tried everything I know but I've only met the poison in books. Never once has a cure been mentioned. Obviously I'm going to try to find one but I can't guarantee I'll succeed."

Now Will is the one crying and Travis hugs him tightly.

"I know you did and will do everything you can Will. If... if my brother were to, you know, if he were to, fuck I can't say it. But just remember it certainly won't be your fault."

"Neither will it be yours Travis."

But it is, Travis thinks, it will be for leaving him alone.

"I know that."

"Liar."

Will's response is fast and sure, his truth powers kicking in.

"Travis, look at me."

Will's blue eyes are beautiful, pure blue mixed with some gold, and filled with tears.

"If the Fates decided to cut Connor's string, there is nothing the two of us could have done. Nothing. Believe me, I'll well placed to know that."

"Connor won't be waking up until at least tomorrow morning with the dose I gave him. Nothing will happen to him now, which means I'm going to get some sleep and so are you. Are we clear ?"

"mmmh."

"Are we clear ?"

"Yes doc, crystal clear."

The last thing Travis wants to do is leave his brother alone again. However, Will's stubbornness when he decides something is an unstoppable force and Will just decided that Travis will sleep in the Hermes Cabin tonight.

In the end, he manages to convince Will he won't go back to the infirmary once he accompanied back him at Cabin 7, he'll just wander on Camp's grounds a little before returning to his own cabin.

Will frowns but senses he's telling the truth. He understands that Travis needs time to adjust, he went trough it too when Lee then Micheal died.

"Fine, I trust you, but you better not stay up too late."

"You're a true mother-hen Will, it's like you were born for it."

"Get out of my porch you lying thief."

"As the mighty doctor commands", Travis bows mockingly before bidding him good night and leaving the golden cabin.

He ends up in the strawberries fields without nothing else to do then reflect on what's happening.

Connor is dying.

He's got three or two days left.

Travis breaks down with no one to hold him this time.

A world without Connor is a world without colours, grey and faded. It's a world without his smile, his laugh, his crazy plans, his terrible cooking.

A world without Connor is not a world worth living.

He tries imagining waking up in the morning and feeling empty inside, a part of his life gone. The thought makes him want to vomit, the reality will surely kill him.

Travis always planned to cross the Styx before Connor, if not with him. It seems the Fates had other plans.

He cries amid the strawberries, mourning a brother whom heart is still beating.

i'm reading this historical novel with a third gender character and like. i don't know how to feel about it. because obviously gender is personal and contextual and they will be operating within their own society's rules. but i feel like the author is keeping things so just-within-the-rules that it almost becomes like... a weird reluctance to engage with actual queerness? only with alternative norms? almost like. inventing new ways to be cis and then doing cisnormativity with them lmao

It's such a tiny innocuous thing that really doesn't matter, but I feel like calling duel monsters a children's card game (when it's fundamentally baked into everyday life, and your social existence is judged by what you play and how you play it so very intensely, for everyone in-universe) is an absolute injustice to what it is for that universe of people.

What I think of Lilith through the houses

2nd: jealous co workers, insecure without money, focused on long term success, thinking outside the box, quirky, illusions around upbringing, favorite child, should embrace new perspectives //possibilities, attracted to the outcasted, can feel pressured to help others, victims of betrayal, takes shortcuts to get what they want, responsible with money, loves the idea of love but not the commitment, pressure to perform well.

3rd: secret teller, uses sex for power, uses communication for power, odd sex appeal, unique style, entrepreneurial mindset, self motivated, driven, spiritual blessings through others, easily adaptable, loved by women, team player, liar, familiar with the underworld from a young age, ambitious, fast thinker, prefers to be coupled up, questions others authenticity.

4th: self driven, “been there done that” vibe, quirky sense of humor, untrustworthy mother, misuse of sexual energy, confusion around self identity, jumping from relationship to relationship, doesn’t know when to let a relationship go, generous in relationships, charming with their words, idealistic about love, passionate, cold demeanor, manifest desires easily, persistent with what they want, right place right time, hard worker, likes/requires routine, attracts/likes conflict, dramatic relationships, impulsive, loves adventure, victim of betrayal, liar, self destructive, possessive, comes across as intimidating.

Like we got the Star, in other's eyes, you are a shining star, ready to show the world all the talent and beauty you have to offer. People also really appreciate the time and effort you put into the things you are passionate about, you make sure to add such small details that add to everything you do. People notice and love the way you don't rush yourself and it always has the best end result. I am getting this may be my Latino/Hispanic pile (not for everyone ofc) and I am getting that if you do speak Spanish, people find it SO SEXY when you do, like people just can't help but MELT. Although spirit is telling me you may actually hear people say this to you. There are plenty of people who are in love with you but are scared to confess. I am picking that some of y'all actually don't hear too many compliments and it makes you think lowly of yourself, but Pile 1, people love you and find you so amazing. Spirit really wants you to know that you do more than just take up space in this world and that you are more than worthy of all the things you want in this world. If you want it, then it's yours.

One of the first things that spirit wants me to mention is that you get A LOT of compliments. Gojo Satoru has the smell of death burned into his senses to the point of complete apathy. He’s sure that Shoko feels similarly, though as a healer and a doctor, she’s often only met with the aftermath – the quiet decaying, the dried blood.

Gojo has encountered it all. The stench, the last pleas for salvation, the battered and torn-apart limbs. Even when the dying beings are cursed spirits suffering from the carnage created beneath Gojo’s hands, sometimes he wonders if an angel is nearby that weeps for them.

He has held grief inside his core to use as a weapon ever since he lost Geto. Nothing fazes him anymore. After the tragedies of his late teens, Gojo chooses to devote himself to his students rather than ruminating in sanctimonious thought loops. Gojo Satoru knows he isn’t a god, but sometimes, when he levitates in the sky with blood on his hands, he certainly feels like one. It’s safe to say that he may be the closest thing to one in the world of Jujutsu sorcery. It’s nothing that he despises – he’s known since his powers took shape in the awkwardness of his child-body.

Gojo likes to think he isn’t as cruel and indifferent as a god should be because of how protective he is. The warmth he’s had in his heart for Megumi alone confirms this as such, and now for Yuuji. Despite toying with the idea of divinity, he likes to remember that he’s human.

You are the only thing that reminds him of this.

Ever since Gojo had laid his eyes on you, he figured you were a delicate thing. He’s not completely wrong – although you can see curses, you lack any techniques. After becoming an assistant at Jujutsu Tech, he had taken more than a liking to you, more than he would be willing to admit to anyone else. He also never thought that the girl who was so quick to sardonic banter with him would be so vulnerable. 

When you’re underneath him, maybe he does consider himself a god, just for a second. And then he feels the silky touch of your skin and he can’t help but wish for a life of mundanity with you until the earth stops spinning. 

He likes that he can feel how fast your heart is beating. He likes that you become so pliant just from having his hand on your thigh.

It’s not like he exploits the little affair you have. It’s not that he wants to exploit you either, but the power trip that surges through him when you preen to his touch feels better than winning any battle. It’s those big eyes of yours. It’s a miracle you had reciprocated your attraction to him – he doesn’t know what he’d do to any other man who happened to pursue you. The thought of that kind of violence doesn’t make him feel any guilt. He’d do it in a heartbeat if it meant that he could have you forever, unconditionally.

Within the few months you’ve been working at Jujutsu Tech, you learn a few things about Gojo Satoru. He has an incredible sweet tooth. He cares about his students. He likes the feeling of your fingers combing through his hair. Lives for it, even, but he could never tell you that.

But he waits, titillatingly, smirking as his long fingers grasp the flesh above your hips.

“Please,” you whine. Your lower half bucks up into him, squirming just a little, but he grounds you with his large hands once again. 

Satoru knows better than to toy with his prey, but the flush on your cheeks is so fucking cute that he wonders what you would look like with tears rolling down the soft blush of your skin.

“Be patient, baby,” he rasps. “Just like lookin’ at you.”

“You look at me all day.”

“Someone’s got quite the attitude.”

You’re about to protest until you feel his knuckle brush against the peak of your clit, teasingly. A nasty grin spreads across his face as he grazes his fingertips along your slit, marveling at how wet you are when he’d barely touched you.

“So pretty for me,” he muses, mostly to himself. 

“Should see how pretty I am when you’re inside me.”

Satoru scoffs. Despite being so human, you have quite the mouth, so much confidence in the way you move and speak that he often forgets how easy it would be to lose you. To break you. Though, of course, that privilege is for him and him only. 

He kisses you to shut you up, but not nearly for long enough. You can’t even get your tongue inside his mouth. You whine pitifully as he pulls back. 

“Poor baby,” he coos. “So on edge today. What’s got you so desperate like this, huh?”
