i wish i could hide individual posts on twitter like sometimes people i like post my gifs (other than the ones i've posted here for everyone to use freely) and i have no more fight in me left to ask people to credit because people over there have been hostile about it (so like, even when the poster is nice about it, i've had "popular" accounts jumping in on conversations they weren't part of to try and claim that crediting other fans for their work was "unreasonable", and in the first place it's pretty 50/50 whether people respond reasonably and add credit or if they ignore and mute/block me so they can continue stealing my gifs without me being sooooo mean and unreasonable and linking to the source i guess) and it's someone i don't wanna unfollow or mute but it just drains my spirit to see that post you know. please let me know if there is a thing like xkit on tumblr that works for hiding individual twitter posts

Robin never really got boys talk.
When Sarah turned 14 she invited all the girls in band for a sleepover. It started out fun. After her parents went to bed they put on a creepy horror movie and watched it in a huge cuddle pile. They braided each other's hair and did each other's nails and squeezed each other during tense scenes and muffled their shrieks after a sudden jumpscare.
After that they watched another one. This time Sarah sneaked her mother's makeup kit down to the living room, and so lipstick and eyeshadow joined the mess of nail polish, hair clips and snacks already on the floor.
The second movie was different. In the first one, the blood was obviously fake and the acting wasn't the best (to say the least). But the second one was tense through and through. The cries of pain were so visceral that Robin shuddered, and in the end everyone was terrified. It was silently and unanimously agreed upon that everyone had had enough TV for the night. It was already 3 in the morning, but tomorrow was the weekend and right now Robin wouldn't be able to sleep even if she wanted to, and thus began Robin's first real boys talk.
It was funny at first. Sarah pretended to die of heartbreak when "the blond hot one" was unfortunately the second to die. Heather said the nerdy one with glasses and abs was cuter, which started a very heated discussion of whether blond or brown is the more attractive hair color. Robin had to defend her correct "redheads" opinion all by herself.
(When the others got into a stalemate Sarah turned to Robin. "C'mon", she pleaded, "you know that the blond one was hotter. Just tell us which one you found prettier! And don't forget that this is my birthday party."
Robin laughed at the ribbing, played a bit hard to get, until she finally admitted. "I actually found the first one who died the prettiest." Sarah was already halfway through her victory dance, when Robin corrected her. "No, I don't mean the dude. I mean the first one. The girl with the pink purse."
Everything was silent for a moment.
Then Emma laughed. "You don't have to be jealous Robin", she consoled, "you are also very pretty."
"Yeah, especially after our makeover!"
Robin laughed and agreed and continued on as if her world just hadn't been turned on its axis. Because she knew that the stirring in her gut and the beating of her heart had nothing to do with jealousy. She didn't find the blond one hot or the brunet one cute. That was the first time she really knew it. She liked the girl.)
It was a bit funny the first time, even though she couldn't really join. It got less funny the more it went on. Suddenly boys was the only thing everyone wanted to talk about. And worse: it wasn't just unreachable famous boys like singers or actors anymore. Suddenly it was all "oh, Steve Harrington is sooooo cute" or "oh my god, Tommy Hagan had suuuuuuch a glowup" and "I want to lick the sweat of his body after basketball practice" (this last one was applicable to multiple different people, including Steve and Tommy. It was not applicable for Chrissy when she exited cheerleading practice or Beth after football.)
She thought it would get better when Emma finally confessed to her crush and they actually got together, but no. It somehow got worse. Because "normal boy talk" turned into "experienced boy talk", and Robin wasn't allowed to admit that the only thing that got wet when she thought of Billy Hargrove was her mouth, because he made her want to throw up.
At first she'd say that she didn't have crushes. After a while of people refusing to believe her (even if she was telling the truth! Sometimes.) she started pretending to be into Steve Harrington. Every girl had a crush on Steve, so it made sense that she'd been embarrassed to admit that she was just like everybody else. He was way too far above her league for her friends to force her to "confess" and she could stare without fear when he passed by in the halls with the beautiful Tammy Thompson in his arms. Truly, it was a brilliant plan. It didn't stop the boys talk, though.
So she became a tomboy. She joined football and she hung out with boys and she cut her long hair into a bob. She lost a bit of touch with Emma and Sarah and the others, but she tried not to think about it too much. Instead she threw herself into sports and started hanging out more and more with Matt, the second trumpet in band.
And that was that. Sometimes she missed wearing dresses, but it was a relief not to have her mother insisting she "do something about that hair" anymore. She and Matt became best friends. She even considered telling him for a while. Until he sat her down and confessed his feelings.
She tried to let him down as gently as possible, and they never talked again. The cycle would repeat for multiple times.
Someone out there is laughing their ass off because who would have thought that the dude she pretended to have a crush on would turn out to be the missing half of her soul?
It started out like always. She teased him, he laughed. They suffered through customer service together. He was funny and surprisingly in touch with his emotions and apparently babysat a bunch of middle schoolers, which was equally hilarious and adorable to watch. They both enjoy sports and they both hate Billy Hargrove with a passion and Robin is heartbroken because she knows she can't get attached. She has already been through this too many times to allow it to happen again. She gets close with a guy, they become best friends, he confesses, she can't reciprocate, they never talk again.
This is what is going to happen. She should already be used to it, but it still hurts. It's better for her to keep her distance. To encourage him to flirt with other girls, even if she can see that he mostly does it to amuse her.
And then they uncover an actual real life Russian spy network right beneath their place of work like some fucking blockbuster. And then they are pumped up with drugs and the next thing she knows is that they are both throwing up in a cinema bathroom.
And then it happens. Of course it happens.
He starts his little speech and her heart is already breaking. She surprises herself when she realizes how much she started enjoying Steve's company. He is a dingus, but she is also a dingus and they just fit.
She is already preparing her apology in her head (oh fuck work is going to be so awkward), but what comes out instead is what she wishes she could've said every time this happened. What she wished she could have said every time she got close to another person, every time her parents questioned if she finally found a boyfriend. Something she really tried not to feel ashamed of, but it was so fucking hard when you had to keep it hidden all the time.
(She remembers when she used to train in front of the mirror. She would stare at herself and repeat again and again "I am Robin Buckley and I am a lesbian. I am a lesbian. I am-")
She doesn't breathe as she waits for what she knows what comes next. What has to come next. There is a reason she never told anyone, always kept it hidden and to herself even if she wanted to scream it into the world. He will mock her and he will out her and he will be disgusted and-
"Tammy Thompson?!"
Instead they have girls talk. And Robin finally gets it.

whoever the anon is that constantly finds a way to hate on elaine, please stop 😭 you’re entitled to dislike whoever you want, but it’s getting tiring to hear. i don’t want to block you because the other things you say are perfectly reasonable and i would be happy to answer them, but it’s clear at this point that nothing elaine does will satisfy you so i see no point in hashing it out

Every tag. Every fandom. Fanfic titles. Retconned characters (this character is a sw***ie, this character is this song coded, this ship is so that song coded and so on). Fan Edits out the ass. Audio clips, lyric quotes, hot takes on Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr/YouTube/TikTok. A cruel, unending slew of exposure you did not ask for lmfao

"i've been burned by reading unfinished and abandoned fics so i only read completed fics" and then you wonder why there's so many abandoned half-way fics lmao if writers aren't getting any support while they're writing their fic why should they feel motivated to keep sharing their works

just saw a long ass post about d20 that talks about neverafter and burrow's end criticizing that they felt like they missed their goals in their identity given the initial marketing and i feel like it fails to account for the fact that while yes there is a plan with a narrative plot and themes and such they are also liveplays of dnd - things are going to shift and change as it goes on and sometimes plots get picked up and left behind because something more interesting to the players takes their time etc. and im not saying theyre perfect and things couldnt be improved by say longer seasons or more grace time between filming eps but to gloss over that fact is missing the point i feel

if I went through half of what pitigi went through I would’ve retired already so I get so annoyed when ppl have no sympathy when some of them go silent for a while. useog announced two weeks ago that he was going on a two week rest and will resume penbamra monday the 23rd, and he’s more than entitled to that after having to take the dj position at a really difficult time and even keeping it through the process of leaving cube… you’re not … deprived of him rn and you even know he’s coming back in three days :/

Rant
Getting the kind of comment after an action scene or sex scene in a fic that says “It was just starting to get interesting” , especially when I leave a cliff hanger is not a compliment.
It is not a compliment, not to me at least. I’m big on story, background, characters having convos. If any of this is boring for a reader, I rather they just skip my work.
Saying it just got interesting when there is a sex scene or action scene rubs me the wrong way. I don’t write porn. I don’t write persistent smut disguised as a fic. I don’t write action stories.
So yes. If you read my work there will be lots of build up, background, and convo, and lots of stuff in between any action and sex.
It’s important to me and the story. It’s important to the characters and the story I want to tell.
I won’t change this. So if you only think a story I’m telling is interesting once action happens, or if you skimmed over everything just to read the action, do us both a favor and don’t read my work.
There are endless full on smut and action writers out there. Honestly you can type in a character and that’s likely what you’re going to get first.
That stuff (no shade just saying) is the most popular. Most read. Most reblogged. People largely ignore other work for that. So if you want that, you have many options that don’t include my work.

Something I'm struggling with rn is like. Maybe I should trust my boss more and like... Release the mental load. Dear god I hope that didn't sound like a euphemism. What I mean is: we have 2 major absences this week and 3 callouts just in one day for tm. He's aware of the 2 absences and is actually the one who notified me about them last night when he told me I'd need to cover one absence today. So of course when I get the chance, I go into the schedule and look at all the other shifts that are now gaping holes and I have no idea what we're doing about them. Today is covered (actually it wasn't, but that's a different story), but what about every single day of the rest of the week? He hasn't told me how he wants to handle them, he hasn't utilized X tool to find coverage; normally on his days off, I feel totally fine going ahead and utilizing X tool on my own without anyone's permission, because I do have a lot of autonomy... but he's the one who told me about the absences, he's the one who told me how to handle them. Eventually I text him asking how he'd like me to handle things and if he'd like me to utilize X tool. I get a response back that clearly implies he's thought it out, he just didn't... tell me anything of what he had planned, I guess? So I was bugging for nothing. I mean, not for nothing: these are still huge, gaping holes in the schedule and it's going to be a massive strain (hint: his solution is that he and I fill in all the shifts; I'm clopening tomorrow->the day after etc). But I didn't have to take on that mental load of planning or thinking about planning, even. I could have just. Idk. Relaxed and trusted??? I feel like I would have been way, way, way more relaxed about it if it was Prev Boss, like I would have felt confident that she'd already thought of what to do and was just busy and couldn't let me know about it just yet. Not him though

Let’s be honest, Jacob/Emma was never gonna be endgame.
Jacob couldn’t let go of the idea of a committed relationship and Emma made it clear their relationship would be temporary
He’s sweet to her, but he’s needy in a way that has him in her space that ultimately annoys her and distance herself further (ie. Jacob: Let me get those bags for you. Emma: I can get my own bags)
She’s nice at times, but tends to be performative and tease him emotionally to get a reaction out of him (good or bad, it’s something).
When things end, she continues to be flirtatious because the attention from Jacob is still flattering. Other times she acts sassy (and kinda rude) towards him and establishes how she isn’t his girlfriend, to get it through his head that their relationship won’t become serious.
Examples include:
Insisting on carrying her own bags. She’s her own person and doesn’t want him doting on her like she’s his girlfriend- because she’s not and doesn’t want to be.
Telling him the fling was over when summer ended. Only to THEN say it’s not over *yet* and skinny dipping with Jacob. (That flip flop between what she says and what she does causes an emotion whiplash and mixed signals for someone still emotionally invested, ie. Jacob)
Saying she’s no one’s girlfriend, and then having a heavy make out session with Nick. (This upsets Jacob b/c even though he knows they’re broken up, his feelings still linger. Abigail was also upset by this.)
This says a lot about how Emma, Jacob, Nick and Abigail feel about/approach relationships.
For Emma and Nick, physical affection (ie. kissing) doesn’t have as much of an emotional connection/pull as it does for Jacob and Abigail.
Emma, someone Abigail considers a friend, knew about Abi’s feelings for Nick and made out with him anyway. A quick peck would’ve sufficed, but Emma wanted to make a statement.
To Jacob: “I’m not your girlfriend, get that through your head”
To Abigail: “Make a move already. It shouldn’t take this long. I’m kissing him, so it shouldn’t be hard for you to kiss him already”
Nick was an active participant, make no mistake. He sees himself as a hot guy who can get any girl he wants and he makes this known by making out with Emma. He was “playing along”
Abi was essentially humiliated and betrayed by both her friend and crush simultaneously. She keeps her distance towards people because she holds great significance between closeness and connection. She won’t intrude on someone’s space and make a move unless the other person makes it known that they reciprocate and will allow her attempt at closeness/connection. Abigail needs a connection established to allow closeness.
That’s different from Jacob, who attempts closeness to establish connection. He tries to stretch out the last day of summer— by messing with the car, of all things. It’s a desperate move, a poor move and it’s a dick move. It’s a move that Jacob chose in order to spend time and attempt to get close to Emma again to create a connection and rekindle their relationship.
Jacob still holds a significant emotional attachment to Emma and is upset by seeing her make out with a guy that isn’t him. Even though he KNOWS they’re broken up, the feelings haven’t faded. He still FEELS like they’re together and that they should still be together, but that’s never gonna happen.
Emma continues to say that she doesn’t want a serious relationship, all while being flirty and close with Jacob AFTER their breakup. Jacob’s absolutely attached to Emma, and he interprets the flirtations to be signs of wanting a serious relationship.
Jacob SHOULD know better than to try to convince Emma to have feelings for him the same way he has for her. That was never gonna happen with her. Emma wanted him for now, not forever. He needed to process that instead of denying the reality of the situation and insist upon a relationship that never would’ve come to fruition with someone like Emma.
They were drawn to each other, but they don’t have the same values. Neither one was gonna compromise for the other.
Jacob wasn’t fine with a fling and Emma didn’t want a committed relationship. Their stances on this weren’t gonna change in a day.
Advice for Emma: Say what you mean and mean what you say. Your actions should reflect your words. You can’t have your cake and eat it too.
Advice for Jacob: You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make it drink. If you try to force it, it never turns out well. You don’t keep walking forward when you’re facing a dead end.
TLDR: The problem with Jacob/Emma was misaligned goals and different interpretations/approaches towards romantic relationships. They’re toxic for each other and it was never gonna last. They had chemistry, but they weren’t compatible in the long run.
