Andrei Tarkovsky's film "The Mirror" takes place in three time periods which includes the 1930s before war, during the war and then afterwards making it mid 1960s. This unique film in fact does not have a story line and has several characters played by the same person making it rather a different type of cinema and more of a creative unique style. These characters are played by Margarita Terekhova and Ignat Danitsev.

The film shows a series of thoughts, memories and dreams of Aleksei who is played by Ignat Daniltsev, Showing childhood, teen and adult memories of the character and their surroundings before, during and after the war. Mainly focusing on the evacuation from Moscow to a more rural area to escape the on going war.

A key scene from this film would be when Aleksei is about to die and is being attended by two doctors. In this scene Aleksei reaches for a bird and holds it during his last final seconds of life. This scene is a key scene due to the fact that its a traumatizing memory loosing someone and because the film is a variety of memories and flash backs this one for sure is important due to its significance and how the bird is a symbol of life and hope while Aleksei is passing.

I finally read the second book in @disneybooks Mirror series. I loved the first one, and meant to read this second one right when it came out. And then I got sidetracked, which is a shame because @brownbookworm does a fantastic job building on the first story while telling a compelling, original tale in her own right. In this installment, the action shifts to 1929 New Orleans. Like in Broken Promise (if I remember the first book’s title), themes of intolerance, bigotry, fear and hatred are woven in with the fantastical elements, grounding the magical and keeping things relevant and real. The third book come out in a couple of weeks, and I won’t be waiting so long to read that.
