Raine is the embodiment of trying to fix the system from the inside, of the idea that is taught to us by people in power that the institutions that are designed to hurt us are neutral, and need only be wielded by the right people. If the finale of the show is trying to teach how you dont owe forgiveness and kindness to people who dont want to change, Raine's part of the story exemplifies how even the kindest, most forgiving person can be rendered helpless by these institutions if they try to fight from within them, how sometimes the very institutions we accept as given in our word dont deserve our forgiveness either, don't deserve our hope that they will change for the better, because they were always designed to hurt people.

Raine became head witch because they wanted to be a mentor, to help- this intention is never muddied or changed at any point in the series (this is very important- Raine is not corrupted by the power or position, it's not a matter of good people becoming bad with power, its a matter of good people being unable to do good within the system)

It's an isolating job- it appears to be them alone against the covens and belos. But the most effective change we seen them enact is not through their status as a coven head- something they are not comfortable or suited for as someone who "can't stand an audience"- its done through the CATTS, a group outside the coven system designed to persuade and help people against the throne. They get to wear a mask, get to perform in a way that makes them comfortable get to overcome their fear in a group setting. The CATTS organize in a very realistic way, and through them Raine meets Eda again, comes closer to the love and community they lost around the time when they joined the Bard coven.

But then, the plan changes- they go under cover. Pretend theyre working with the emperor until the last moment, use their status as a coven head to change the outcome of the day of unity. Whe they're doing that, they have to very publically denounce all of their beliefs, and behave as if the system that's trapping them is good. They aren't actually being controlled at this point, but the nature of the plan is such that they have to act like an arm of the emperor, going against everything they believe in. So, in a very real, non-magic way, they still are being controlled.

And the plan ends up being a disaster. All that work, all that deep cover planning, none of it stopped the day of unity from happening. Meanwhile, Raine's spent all this time- what was probably their last opportunity to reconnect with Eda and build back a damaged relationship before the world ended-compromising their beliefs and behaving as a propaganda machine for Belos. It appears, at the beginning of season 3, that Raine has given up everything- their autonomy, their friends, their love- for nothing. So, of course Belos picks them to possess- he's so used to Raine being a puppet in every other way. They have inadvertendly made themself a vessel for the will of the emperor through trying to stop him.

And now, they have another internal battle to fight- one over direct control over their own body (I don't think it's a coincidence that the biggest trans character in the show has this struggle, but thats for later.) What has been more of a symbolic or ideological control for all of the series becomes an inescapable physical control, one that they fight with every inch of their being to overcome. And they do overcome it- they push Belos out- but it doesn't stop him. Just like how it was being a coven head, being a tool for Emperor Belos didn't actually give Raine the power to stop him, it just put them in close enough proximity to him to be hurt more.

It's meaningful that they finally do get to take down Belos when he's without the system he build to prop himself up and put down others, literally ripped from the heart of the titan- nothing but a manipulative pile of goo. It's meaningful that they do it surrounded by friends and allies and lovers, and it's meaningful that they get to enjoy it, after all this time scratching at the surface and trying to change the coven system for the better, the thing that finally destroys it- destroys Belos is an alliance- a found family- curb stomping him into oblivion.

I see your Robin and Steve are platonic soulmates, "we make each other better" and raise you Eddie and Nancy chaotic soulmates "we can make each other worse".

They start to get along while Eddie is recovering in the hospital. She is personally offended by the witch hunt for poor Eddie and starts planning. Her first real interaction with him is after everyone has left for the day, so she sneaks in and immediately goes "I know everyone here is being all love and positive, but i am here for revenge. You in?" Eddie immediately loves her.

They plan for months on how to get back at Jason and his band of clowns.

They really click because they share the same rebellious spirit that no one else seems to really understand. There's a deep anger for societal situations, expectations and morals that just crushes their soul but no one else gets it. They love their friends and they all feel like outcasts in some way, but it is not the same resentment they hurt from.

Nancy defends Eddie with her life, Eddie's own feral dog. Eddie is the same, when disgusting men say shit to her or expect her to submit to them only because she is a woman. He is having none of that and he will slam them to walls and letting Nancy give the last blow. Not physical but verbal. Woman will crush a man's soul. And if later in there are rumors of them having small dicks, then thats just a coincidence.

Her and Wayne love each other from the get go, when she comes in to the trailer and easily greets him "hi Mr. Munson". Wayne gives her a look and goes back to reading "Just Wayne is fine." Nancy doesn't even look at him as she makes her way to Eddie's room "Okay then. Hi Just Wayne" and closes the door. Wayne just smirks and shakes his head. He didnt think he would get another Eddie, yet here he is.

They become the other inseparable pair. They are always together, joined at the hip. They don't share a braincell, they are all Nancy's but Eddie borrows some from time to time. Only to cause chaos. They have full conversations with just a look and it annoys everyone around. So they do it even more.

The best part is when they slowly start noticing the other falling for their respective platonic duo doofus and mock each other for it. "Are you really in a place to mock me, when Steve is your literal ex?" "Yeah well I was a young and dumb" "I'm still young and dumb" "Young is debatable" "Hurtful and unnecessary. Not like Robin is any better" "She uncovered a secret russian code???" "She also is currently sporting a broken pinky and a nice black eye because he tripped on her own feet" "..." "That's what I thought" They love spending time together, just existing next to the other. Nancy studies and goes over homework and assignments. Eddie writes lyrics or just reads next to her. Turns out they both love the same kind of books and its a favorite pastime of them. Just going to the hill, laying on the grass and reading peacefully. No one else gets it, but they dont care. They get it and that's all they need. Eventually, once they all get their shit together, a new issue arises. Robin and Steve are very jealous of their best friends and the amount of time spent with them. This only spurs them on. Steve: Why is Nancy here? Eddie: She set this up? Steve: But you saw her yesterday! Eddie: So??? Steve: So its MY turn today! Eddie: Steve, Robin is literally sitting on your lap.. Steve: Don't change the subject! Nancy: No no, please explain that..

Long story short, let them be best friends. They deserve it.

OOH Thats a good question!

I think theres lots of factors at play there- The main one I can think of off the top of my head goes as follows.

Subverted expectation

Charismatic Archetype

Easily "accessible" g/t premise

Symbolism

First off, its a great role reversal/subversion of expectations. Knights are seen as protectors, a beacon of strength and what have you, so making the knight small is an easy way to make something enticing to an audience since it defies expectation. This can be for comedic reasons, or angst ( or both). I think the biggest factor is going against the grain creates new avenues/perspectives to explore/thus high intrigue.

The second point is that knight are a fairly fun and charismatic archetype- their role is already exciting, and you don't necessarily need a lot of background knowledge to use the archetype to make a compelling story. So while prevalent in g/t media quite often, I think they are also quite prevalent in media as a whole (especially fandom), and would fall in the same "Charismatic Archetype Bin" as other such characters like witches, vampires, mafia bosses, pirates etc. Though I do think knights stand out particularly in g/t, which leads me to my next point-

Its an easily accessible g/t genre. Adding a g/t element can at times be difficult- Giants in a modern world usually mean a lot of question about world building pop up, as well as logistics. A knight setting is normally much more primitive, and often times has a fantastical or magical element, thus taking a lot of the "How can we make this work" leg work off the creator's shoulders.

Lastly I think Knights as a whole offer a lot of interesting symbolism. Certain aspects could be a combination of things such as strength, duty, loyalty, obedience, bravery, dedication etc... And those make for a very interesting character, especially when making that character small.

How do they handle losing/not being able to use their strength?

Does their sense of duty crumble in the face of someone so much larger than them? Does their bravery crumble ?

How do those traits look on someone so much smaller? Is it inspiring? Sad? Comical? Infuriating (A good ol combination is my favorite)

Whatever the case, knights act as a very clear symbol in both the cultural zeitgiest and within the unique perceptions of an individual. Its easy for one's mind to project particular feelings onto a symbol.

For example, someone who may highly value duty/responsibility could easily (both consciously or not) project those feelings onto a knight character. Making that character small could be a way to vent/explore the idea of ones responsibilities being overwhelmingly large, or as if you feel like you've lost the capacity to deal with them.

Another may write about others not viewing them as capable because of their size, despite having the skills and abilities of a knight- they just aren't seen seriously.

Knights offer a really loaded character archetype, especially in the G/t sphere, since the symbolism of both themselves as a knight and then the concept of being small can create such a variety of metaphors for the audience.

For the wrath of the stars, the reason for it happening to Mochi despite eveything, is it because of the reason why the gods did nothing when the Witch King went on such a huge rampage?

That even to the end, the Gods still favored the Witch King even when he was going to raze the world to the ground? That they smote the Cat Witch, in spite of her service to the world at large, because she killed their favorite?

the truth of it all is still up in the air as i work on it honestly, but how accurate this is depends on how active of a role the stars actually play in the story!!! because 1) if we see them in the story as actual real beings, then 1000% this is how it goes. (i will note that the wrath of the stars isnt something that is actively done, more like something that is automatically triggered, so its not that the stars struck her down themselves, but rather they didnt STOP it from happening)

and if thats the case then in this story the gods of the stars are hard to understand and actually rather irrational.....they loved the witch king so much that they refused to strike him down when he almost committed genocide on half the world (even others who were ALSO dedicated to the stars), and then are also too.......im not sure what the right word is... selfish? prideful? to "turn off" the wrath of the stars when ANOTHER follower of theirs is doing what is considered to be right, even in their own eyes. as if its more important that the principles they set are followed and executed than it is for a just and right life to be spared for doing something that needed to be done, but would bend the rules slightly

OR!!!! the OTHER route i was going to take which is a little more haunting to me is that 2) we never really know at the end whether the gods of the stars are real!!! maybe everything anyone in the story knows about them, anytime a character talks about "Well they loved him because he was so dedicated," blah blah blah, is all conjecture based on what they see. all they really know is that when the witch king prayed to the stars for answers, he received magic. and when he was at his most unhinged point, they did not strike him down. and people draw their own conclusions based on that. anything we hear from the stars is through old texts written by witches or oracles who claim they speak for the stars, but we never actually meet them/hear their voices for ourselves. so what theyre actually thinking/why they do the things they do or act the way they act is a mystery.

but if THIS were the case, then all in all the story would be meant to be designed in such a way that "fate" works everything out for good, WITHOUT having to break the rules set by the stars. every person in the story is meant to be there at that time and at that place. every bad thing that happens and every little coincidence is meant to be there. sulluvan becoming the new lord of the undertakers WEEKS before mochi became the cat witch was meant to happen. everything DOES work together such that mochi does not truly die by the end, and ALSO the laws of the stars are not broken. and i honestly like this route a little better because truly in tcwg, the worship of the stars is supposed to be a religion at its root, and i think this echoes how religions really are irl, where youre confused half the time because you dont understand what theyre thinking and whats going on

(its like the vibes of the memories in botw where zelda prays so fervently to the goddess in a lot of the cutscenes but doesnt get a response for the longest time......i like that)

Sure Klee calls him a weird grownup, but she sounds genuinely curious why Diluc is 'weird' compared to the other adults in Klee's life like the knights of Favonious who are supposed to be formal bc theyre well, also in charge of diplomacy

So I am 100% on board with Diluc's mother being Hexinzirkel. Like there is a video. This one. Where they not only point out how the teapot is in the dawn winery, but the pattern on the teapot is not only on the dawn winery carpet but on Diluc's jacket.

Then there is the Diluc's star broach in the manga, which matches the Hexinzirkel star.

Especially considering the star and the teapot were things in the center frame.

So we are past the realm of coincidence in my book, even before Alice watches Diluc for a while and takes him in when Crepus dies. It would sort of raise the question of why she might not be more involved in his life if she's a sister of Diluc's mom. But I feel that could easily be explained by well safety reasons. You don't want to draw too much attention to it. Specially if she really wanted to settle down and live a normal life. Alice is just honoring her wishes.

This also makes me wonder if there is something biological in visions. Like Diluc being a possible Hexinzirkel child and probably got his vision around Klee's age. Do you see the line I'm making here? My theory is that there is a certain about of harmony you do have to have with elemental energy to get a vision and maybe having a powerful witch as a mother helped that?

As for the delusion, Diluc's delusion has always been different. So I got two ideas (Outside of Crepus getting it from the fatui in some way)

One. Diluc's mom stole it from the fatui, learning about their delusion research. Maybe figuring it would be best to delay their plans a little bit. So the Delusion is an early stage, one that His mom was playing around with, trying to figure out or "fix."

Two. Diluc's mom made it. And it's not a true delusion. At least not a Fatui one. This would sort of explain why Dottore, who should have known about delusions didn't recognize it at one of there's. And Crepus couldn't use it because well he simply couldn't handle the elemental energy in it. But Diluc could which is why it never backfired. And that works with your heirloom idea.

The only hiccup with that idea is the webcomic. But I don't recall if they were saying where that piece of the journal came from or who it was from that told them Crepus had the delusion.

And well, now It's sort of got me wanting to write more Alice and Diluc or Diluc and his mom, to be honest

I was listening to I am become christmas by lemon demon on a loop and got inspired by aurora borealis. I really like the story of it cuz its got enough structure that I can get a clear mental image of the setting, characters and general story line, but vague enough that i can fill in details for myself, and kind of make my own story.

The story i made up is that the narrator is stuck in a timeloop that restarts either when they die, or the world ends, and the only way to stop it is by stopping the end of the world. The person who starts the end of the world is a powerful witch, who died some time ago, but is resurrected to end the world by lighting the sky on fire. thats all I have right now but i might come up with more later, i dont know.

Alright cause I’m in a mood and I’m tired of seeing it , I’m going to throw my hat in the ring and probably piss some people off.

The Collector is not just a ‘misunderstood/confused’ kid who needs to be taught empathy. 

They are a morally GREY being, who while may indeed have disconnects on mortals morals, is not EXCUSED or completely ignorant to these acts and comments being fucked up in a human/witch/mortal view.

        && yes im doubly talking to the people who seem to think that theory is an unpopular one because i can count on one hand how many people DON’T think thats the case, and i see it 4-5 times each time im in the tags.

 But because I’m not going to just whine that other people disagree, I’m going to fully explain my counterpoints to a lot of the stuff I’ve been seeing.

 Lets begin.

1. “ They’re called a ‘child’ of the stars in canon”

Yes; while they are called a ‘child’ this could be a title due to the form they take. As they are petite and look young. 

From what we’ve seen, the collector as a being takes a lot more similarity with a deity / demi-god type being. Which would fit seeing as they are set up to be King’s foil / a being similar to a titan. && Titans are set up in canon to be ‘gods’ of the isles.  It is not uncommon in mythology for gods / demi gods / god like beings to take child-like forms or forms of other things to seem more harmless than they are.

2. “ The collector looks young! They’re definitely like 4-6 years old like an ipad toddler! They’re just a kid!!”

            Fam, even if they were a ‘kid’, which they are definitely not.  they look more closely to gus in height and build so like (12-14). 

           But again they are certainly NOT comparable to a MORTAL CHILD in all legitimacy. The collector is not a kid, if we are to take canon, where they existed long before phillip came to the isles, (long enough to have been trapped by kings dad hundreds of years prior), and have not changed since, there is no aging. there is no growing up. This is an ageless being. 

(which leads to my next point:)

3. “ They just need to grow up and be taught proper morals by someone! / Belos was just a bad role model! ”

        Again, for that logic to make sense, they would have had to be in a position for the ability to change / start out innocent.  They existed for hundreds of years BEFORE phillip existed in the isles. && from what we know was trapped quite a long time before that.  If they were simply innocent and corrupted by Belos, why would Kings dad need to trap him in the first place? Why would he go OUT OF HIS WAY to make a symbol PURELY TO HIDE KING FROM THE COLLECTOR.

        This is not a quirky coincidence. This is not a throw away joke in CANON this is a very important point they made sure to emphasize. If the collector was never a problem before Phillips influence, there would be no reason for king to remain hidden from the collector, especially to the EXTENT he was. (The whole island, the collar, the guards?)

                    With him being set up as a foil of king, would also make sense, as king is set up to grow and change, and learn. While the Collector is ageless, and is likely the way he was thousands of years ago and will remain that way. They seem to be set up as a being who is far more disconnected from mortal lives/way of life than the titan ever was.

4. “ I just think it would be interesting if the collector was just a misunderstood lonely kid-god who needed to be adopted!”

         A couple things, 

A, that power dynamic would never make any relationship with a witch/human/mortal being and the collector a healthy one. Sorry. not sorry. Power dynamics like that are automatically unhealthy I don’t care how much genuine connection u put there. Theres no way for a mortal creature to be friends or otherwise with a being that could wipe them out of existence with a flick of a finger.

 B. I’ve seen this EXACT take with so many characters in the fandom and its getting so tired. Amity, The blight twins, Hunter, Steve, you name it I’ve seen it. Please pick a new take I’m begging you. Having every character in a media be the exact same is not interesting or fun its not.

C. You can add depth to an antagonistic / morally grey character without taking away that they are in fact, an antagonist or morally grey. (cough belos apologists cough)

D. King. The character you’re talking about is literally King. King is literally set up as a deity (Titan) Who can learn, grow, and has bettered himself over the last few seasons. He’s literally a kid, and has been adopted by Eda. You want another king. We already have that. Lets have something different now.

5. “ The collector is just a kid so its okay that he helped with genocide and made jokes at mass murder! He’s a kid who doesn’t understand empathy”

 Uhhhhhhhh lemme ask you---when did you ever meet a 4-6 year old who went around laughing at genocide/ trying to murder people as a default? If we’re going to go all the way with ‘hes a little kid!’ narrative, then lets be honest with ourselves. Kids are usually the ones with the MOST empathy and compassion by default.  Hate and aggression are LEARNED behaviors. You do not start out this way. But please, show me evidence that this is a default state of kids, because you must be around some really disturbing children.

 ** && if you’ve gotten to this point and start with the ‘but phillip!’ nonsense, please read my previous points because you didn’t.

6. “ Its SO unpopular to think the collector is a kid I’m being victimized for having that opinion!” 

      No. You aren’t. Literally everyone in the fandom agrees with the kid thing--to the point where ive seen more ‘ipad kid’ edits of the collector than actual interesting dynamic art. If this is the opinion you wanna have. sure fine whatever makes you happy. More power to you. But don’t cry that someone is victimizing you when someone else disagrees its really gross. 

I’m tired of this fandoms weird fixation on everyone needing to conform to the favorite opinions or they’re bullies or smthn. Having different takes on media and characters is what is supposed to make fandom spaces fun. Does that mean i cant put my own counter into the ring? No

. Me making this post doesn’t isn’t going to do shit to dissuade people with the kid-llector nonsense and i know that. But if yall can talk so can I. 

7. “ You just think the collector is pure EVIL!!”

No, I don’t. Actually. I even agree with some of the interesting points about the collector having a complex about being alone for so long. Where i draw the line is excusing the collector’s shitty behaviors and saying he just ‘doesn’t understand’ or is a good person deep down. 

Thats not interesting when its your take on every character.

        The collector can have feelings/complex issues and still remain morally grey/chaotic / disconnected with what you or I would recognize as morally right and wrong. The character doesn’t need to be reduced to a little baby who just needs a good role model.

8. “ The collector is short / childish so they’re a child!”

This take always irks the hell out of me regardless of character and regardless of fandom. Short people exist. Short adults exist. I am literally 5 ft. I’ve known several people (full grown adults) around the same height/shorter. We are not kids because we’re petite.

                && Saying someone’s childish personality makes them a child is ableist. There are plenty of people with mental illness who act younger than they are ( and some who aren’t mentally ill that do!). Fully grown adults. This does not take away that they are adults. This alone is not evidence enough to prove he is a child. Unless Dana herself comes out tomorrow and says they’re 10, you cannot definitively declare this as canon. HC it all you want, but again, using that as the reasoning is maybe a take to reconsider.

              && Finally, for those who still want to insist the collector being morally good but misunderstood is ‘canon’

Dana herself literally said the character is morally grey and chaotic. This is not a disputable thing, this isn’t my opinion. She literally said this as canon, as fact.

      So regardless of ANY head cannons or opinions, that is one thing that is pure fact. 

JUST A DISCLAIMER; This is simply my take on the character, and like everything else on this website, is just that. my opinion. I’m not trying to pick fights with anyone over a tv show. But If I have to see ‘baby’ collector all the time in the tags, I’m allowed to have my own opinions too.

Hmm, how do you suppose a crossover with Adventure Time would work? I'm imagining, like, the trio somehow winding up on the Land of Ooo with Marcy being super stoked about being in a wacky cool fantasy world, but only for her to slowly realize in horror that Ooo is a post-apocalyptic Earth.

Ooo would be another really good setting for the Amphibia girls in my opinion. Granted I've only fully seen the show up through season... 5? So I'm probably missing a great deal of context.

I think the premise is largely the same, Marcy is moving away finds some artifact to try to keep her and her friends together. Dropped in Ooo. What that would be in this case I'm not sure. Maybe the Enchiridion?

What's neat about early adventure time is that, outside of the finales there is a lot less of a time pressure than say, Owl House or Amphibia. So the girls could each have a lot more solo adventures bouncing off the wide spectrum of characters in Ooo.

I think I would actually have a 'season' of the three of them all together in this world, really getting a chance to see both how their friendship grows and how it is very toxic. With tension slowly ratcheting up between Sasha and Anne. With the season ends with the reveal of Marcy having brought them to Ooo on purpose and the three of them separating for a time which coincides with the lich getting out.

There's a big fight Anne is more hurt than angry. Sasha is way more angry than hurt. Marcy ends up with a pretty big helping of both

Marcy would end up with PB for the time being, going on science adventures and learning candy magic. Which is a fun parallel with Andrias since while PB doesn't have any ulterior motives, she is still super immoral

Sasha would end up over with Marceline who they had met in an earlier episode and they end up jamming out for some time. Marceline being a much more chill source of character development than Grime.

Anne I guess would end up with Finn and Jake for a while? I don't know there's a lot of good interactions between them, but again I don't feel as prepared to tackle this whole AU

I think over the season, the three end up running into each other awkwardly over the course of other adventures.

Anne and Marcy both end up in the candy kingdom for some mission for the princess to help people, ending with Marcy promising Anne to find a way home for them and their relationship slightly patched up.

Sasha gets captured by the Ice King during a round of capture princesses and Anne and Finn are out to rescue everyone. Sasha is resistant to being saved since it means being in debt to Anne but changes her mind when Anne seems liable to actually leave her there if thats what Sasha chooses. It's a lot messier than Marcy and Anne's first touch point after the reveal but the bridge is mending even if its no where close to fixed.

Sasha and Marcy end up dragged into the whirlpool of their mutual immortal guardians whole... *Gestures vaguely to early season Bubbaline episodes* thing. Maybe the episode is about vampires or witches or something. The main emotional thrust is that Sasha has grown a bit and is the one that actually reaches out to Marcy who spends much of the episode assuming that Sasha is going to hate her forever. This shows both Sasha's growth as a character at this point and the possibility of reconciliation.

Finally in S3 of this vague idea of a fic the three are back together and actively seeking a way home Which I think is when we finally get some of the big wham moments of the series. When the trio come to realize that they aren't in a wacky other dimension. Whatever artifact dropped them here actually flung them into the future days before Armageddon. So we get this moment of Marcy realizing that she can never fix her mistake. And of Anne and Sasha grappling with the fact that if Marcy hadn't made that mistake they would probably all be dead by now.

I think its a moment and a scenario that really brings Adventure Time's tone and theme in really well. Where sometimes messed up junk happens and the characters have to learn how to cope with it. Where there isn't a nice little bow to wrap up an episode and things are just kind of complicated.

Following seasons would probably show the arc of the three of them dealing with the trauma of being permanently displaced in Ooo and making the best of it. Figuring out what they want to do with their lives now that this is their lives and not some wacky off year until they return to Earth.

I think the three of them pool the favors, skills, etc they have acquired from their time in Ooo and build a cool place for them to live more permanently.

Just me, reviewing yet another teen drama, Fate: the winx saga edition.

The highlights of the season for me were Musa and Riven, Flora finally making an appearence and the friendship between Stella a Beatrix.

Now onto the plot, i think it was a solid idea, it carried on from season one with the Aster Dell thing and i can kinda see the point of Sebastian, he's just too much of a caricature evil to inspire anything else. I did thought it was weird at the end the rest of the blood witches just....left, like, what the fuck lol, felt like a lazy way to tie up loose ends, like yeah their leader is gone but surely those people still want their loved oned back. Also i have beef with however is tasked with designing their transformations, theres no outfit change, the wings look werid once the montage is over and i hate that its probably because they want to give it "realism" ITS A SHOW ABOUT MAGICAL FARIES RICHARD, GIVE THEM SPARKLY OUTFITS.

Into the characters!

Bloom is not my favorite, she's okay, not bad for a main character, just a bit repetitive. It did bother me at the end when she told sky he was the most important person in her life when i think through out the season she had more meaningul scenes with her friends than with him. And their relationship is kind of not it, they have awful comunkcation and when she confromts him about it he says he doesnt tell her about his problems because she is the answer which, ok cute honey but you need comunication for a relationship to work. Idk, they are very vanilla but, they could be written better.

Sky's struggles made for an interesting arc this season, he went through some pretty fucked up shit and it sucks that the season ended for him with his girlfriend basically unaliving herself as far as he is concerned. One thing i like about this show is that no character has as a motivation only his love interest which is why i appreciate they gave Sky something to do this season besides Bloom. Im interested to see how he handles his loss next season.

I cannot stress enough how much i liked Musa this season, i love how they handle her relationship with her powers and she and Riven finally interacting made my freaking week. I hope they let her keep training to be an Specialist next season and i hope somebody gets the idea of giving a combat magic class, its kind of ridiculous a room full of fairies with different types of magic couldnt come up with a plan to try an scape and instead waited patiently to be rescued while being drained one by one.

Riven, Riven, Riven. His fallout with Beatrix and Dane was kind of inevitable, i do love myself some badass female grey character but relationships without affective responsability are doomed from the begining, it was definitely something while it lasted. I like the little moments when you realize he isnt a complete asshole, like when he brought each girl a drink that suited their taste or when he explained to Musa that it wasnt that he didnt want to train her because she was a woman, but because they were on the brink of war and it was dangerous for her. He cares, and i care about him, i just want him a Musa to be a happy couple.

Terra's personality annoys me so much lol, i know a girl just like her in really life and it annoys the shit out of me when i know something is right and she comes acting like she knows best and everybody elses work is mediocre, this is unrelated to the writing of her character really, is just an unfortunate coincidence. Her coming out arc was nice and her scenes with the specialist were kind of sweet but i dont think they have chemestry with each other. There's not much more to say about her, she isnt my favorite character and i doubt she'll grow on me but thats nobody's fault.

AISHAAAAAA, i like her a lot, i think they could've given her more scenes with Grey. Like at the end she tells him he lied to her for months and....i dont think we even got a scene of them just...hanging out besides the one where they kissed, i would've loved to see more of their relationship on screen and i would like for them to explore what he told her the day they left the pub about her not having to carry the weight of her friends, she is the smartest but she should allow herself to be a teen (this goes for every one of those poor girls, if Sebastian had any good point, it was the fact that they should be enjoying their lives as teenagers).

Stella, i know we all miss the og cartoon Stella, but if they were going to change her character i dont think this is that bad of a change. I mean the image of her back covered in blood because she was trying to get rid of the gem was heartbreaking and she has had good progress with letting people in and forming genuine bonds with the girls, i enjoyed her friendship with Beatrix, hope they bring her back.

Flora is a 10/10 would recomend, badass bitch all the way, i dont think the show gave her all the praise that she needed, she literally took on dozens of magic sucking thingies to save everybody without a second thought, Bloom was ready to risk it all for 17 y/o boy next door but Flora was out here bringing the brains AND the muscle, they need to thank her appropietly. I also like that she is between nerdy and an extrovert, i feel like we only get those types of characters as a popular girl is secretly smart, Flora is just smart and outgoing and confident and its refreshing.

I support womens rights, but most importantly, i support Beatrix's wrongs. She was raised by Rosalind and Andreas and their dubious morals, she lost her father, her emotional suport boytoys and got pushed aside by the woman she thought would helo her discover more things about herself, i cant imagine feeling that alone and i 100% understand her actions. Hope they bring her back next season.

Thats all, ill watch next season, its a shame we were depruved of sparkly fairy outfits, but i doubt that'll change.

a bit about me and my canon mates

this isn’t going to be comprehensive, just based on who and what i can remember. i have had art made for some of them, but not everyone.

roxy calmasis lalonde, one of the loves of my life. though, if you can believe it, we actually didnt get along very well at first!! she was very loud and over-the-top when we met, and i was resentful of how much of roses time she took up (though rose and i had been separated for a while by then). but she keyed in on the whole “dont overstimulate the autistic puppygirl” thing eventually, and we grew super close.

i think the thing i remember the most is her laugh. it was such a sweet sound, and after jane and i helped her overcome her drinking problem, we got to hear it all the time. she was cute, and silly, and fun, and she loved to sit or lean on me while jane combed my ears, telling nonsense stories and helping with my need for pressure stimming by pressing her fingers into my skin.

both of us were transfem switches, so we got along amazingly in the bedroom. she had a major hand fetish, and loved when i would wear the sheer lace gloves that jane got for her birthday.

i still need to get a good stand-alone drawing of jane. its been rough, trying to remember her - a lot of my earliest memories that i ever uncovered were blocked out again after an incident where someone who was supposedly my canon mate abandoned me years ago. they had reached out on tumblr, reminisced with me, and then just left out of the blue. and that really hurt.

its getting a bit easier now though. it was her idea to help roxy overcome her addiction, and she was the one who took care of me the most when i had breakdowns. i remember the first night after we entered the session, i had a huge freakout over things that had happened in the game, and went running. the first room i got to was janes, by coincidence, and she stayed up all night with me, just holding me and talking me through things. i think thats when i fell in love.

she was 100% a domme top, and she was amazing at it. she helped keep both roxy and i in line with firm rules and routine discipline, both inside and outside of the bedroom. she absolutely loved when i was feeling comfortable enough to wear flashier outfits, and couldnt keep her hands off me in a short skirt.

she was the lover, mama, caretaker, and friend that i needed more than almost anything. right up until i was captured by the empress, she did everything she could to take care of me, and also take care of roxy, and theres nothing in my timeline that i appreciate more than the love she showed me.

vriska fucking serket. my kismesis. the biggest pain in my ass ever, she was absolutely obsessed with riling me up whenever she got the chance, usually by calling me a lolicon for being attracted to her, because she was so small.

shes the reason that all of our friends survived their time on the meteor - she had been experimenting with her god tier powers, and accidentally managed to do the impossible: she radiated luck for a brief moment, and it saved everyone. every blow that fell was nonlethal, just barely missing vital spots or otherwise being survivable. the only one who actually died was kanaya, but she got better because she was a rainbow drinker.

she hated me a lot, because i was easily the most powerful player across all the sessions at that point, and i didnt really use that strength for anything. i was meek, quiet, shy, scared. and that made her furious. she would always push me to go farther, to move out of my comfort zones, and to hone my skills both as a witch of space and a first guardian.

conversely, i hated her because she was so dishonest with herself, and the people around her. she could never admit that she needed anything, shed just manufacture a way to get it. a lot of the time that included wanting to have sex: she would get me worked up until i was good and mad, and then taunt me to do something about it - at which point i would catch on and kick her ass. she got better over time as i started to train her to ask for things, but that never extended to the two of us having sex.

dave is the last of my pictured friends. he was albino and african-american, and was ridiculously obsessive about his hair. he would spend hours keeping it pressed and straightened and perfectly coiffed. he wouldnt say it out loud, but i knew it was because of his bro, and not wanting to look like him.

we had a brief fling together, but it didn’t last super long. he was very handsy and cuddly, nearly as touch-starved as i was. he was a “cool kid”, which is to say a massive fucking dork, and one of my best friends. we would just chill a lot, hanging out and eating shitty snacks and just chatting each others ears off. i dont remember much more than that, but he was a great guy.

rose and i were very on again, off again partners from a young age. honestly we were terrible for each other, but we both kept clinging desperately to what we had. she remained my moirail, even after our last falling out, but she was much happier and far better off with kanaya as a matesprit

she was the one who helped me discover that i was trans, and helped me come out to our other friends. it was her strength and courage and love that got me through the game itself, and i will never be able to repay her for all the things she did for me.

we had a very physical relationship, even before we met in person. we would talk on video a lot (our pesterchum client had that feature), and she introduced me to a lot of my kinks. we only had sex a few times throughout the game and shortly after reaching the meteor, but we separated not long after. we were only sort-of together when i killed myself, and i dont think she ever totally forgave me for it; after that, while we were still very deeply pale, we never went beyond cuddling and some gentle cheek or forehead kisses again.

egbert, of the three friends i went into the game with, is the one i can recall the least. a prankster, a jokester, a mischievous little imp; hung around with vriska and terezi a lot, and they were all horrible influences on each other :P

i found out through dave that she transitioned some time after i left. i never actually got to meet june; it wasnt much longer past that that the end came. but i hope she was as happy as i can remember being as a girl.

the last one i have any strong memories of is nepeta, and theyre unfortunately not the best memories. rose and i were on the outs - though still technically a couple if in name only; we hadnt really told anyone else we were going to break up - and she had just gotten let down pretty roughly by karkat. she got completely sloshed on faygo and came into my room on the meteor, while i was in the middle of a breakdown and not really thinking right. she talked for a bit about how nice it was to feel desired, when i had flirted with her not long after coming aboard the meteor, and we eventually ended up having pity sex.

equius found us the next morning and it turned into a big shitshow. he accused me of cheating on rose, of taking advantage of his moirail in a moment of crisis, and only stopped barely short of claiming that id raped her. almost everyone took his side because nepeta couldnt remember much, and since they wouldnt listen to me, i tried to get rose to help me out, but it wasnt working very well.

that afternoon, rose and i had our last big fight, when i told her to leave and not to come back. and then i killed myself. not that i stayed dead, of course; suicide like that is neither heroic nor just.

afterwards, the shock got the others to think a bit more rationally about the whole situation. things calmed down, and nepeta and i stayed good friends after she sobered up enough to tell equius off and apologize for everything. we probably would have been matesprits if i hadnt ended up falling so hard for jane and roxy, but we were still super close nonetheless.

This is important because it connects with something I was talking last week about how easy once tyrants raise to power they manipulate everybody and establish a system that make it seem like it always has been that way!

So following that Dana is basing on that type of techniques we coul kinda make a rough timeline

So Belos arrived to the isles between 300-400 years ago (both the Edwardian era coinciding with our 1600s-1700 and Luz confirming time runs at the same place in the demon realm than it does in the human realm) and has been in power for 50 years.

It probably took him something between 50-100 years to gain enough followers who will support him to become emperor( Terras age fitting into this) and anytime before that he was throughtly ignored

In actuality it needs less time than that but I'm being hopeful with how strongly Phillip was rejected at first and because the golden guards line gives us another hint.

In Belos mindscape we can see 16 broken masks(assuming each mask belongs to a different Golden Guard) so there have been 17 golden guards so far.

Let's say the Golden Guards live an average of 15-20 years ( Belos made it sound like Golden guards don't last much with how he thought Hunter, who is barely 16 years old, was finally the obedient golden Guard he always wanted. Besides of that isn't the case then it's a good range of numbers to take into account those who took longer to rebel and those who Below discarded from the beginning but fuck thats still too young)

So Below has been making Grimwalkers for around 240-320 years aka it's been ~300 years since Belos killed his brother which fits with the timeline set by them arriving to the isles mid 1600s and starting to make a life there

All of this of course works with assuming Grimwalkers grow at the same rate human/withes do.

The book from where the Grimwalkers theory was born showed us a pic of a Grimwalkers growing arguably fast (whether it was fast or just a summarized depiction who knows) but I doubt Hunter himself or others witches wouldn't notice something is off if Hunter really developed quickly. We start retaining memory of our life by the time we are 5 years old so unless Hunter doesn't remember his whole childhood (I'm talking when he was 5-10 years old) and doesn't question it we can assume he grows up at a normal rate.

(Then again Hunter not questioning a completely wiped childhood sounds like something he would do... Let's trust others like Darius would question it then)

(There's also the possibility Below just has a bunch of developed Grimwalkers ready to use at any moment... But I don't wanna think about that possibility)

there’s this fey entity, right? i don’t have a name for them, but they’re not...they didnt START the fey/human conflict, but they are benefiting from it, politically speaking? and when maura was younger, despite other witches being like “girl dont choose sides, we’re witches, we guard boundaries but we don’t choose sides,” was hotheaded and brash and went “ok but fuck that though” and one thing led to another and she ended up getting a curse on her firstborn. Oops. that’s where the kissing curse comes from, here; i’ll get into that much later in a text post probably but gansey’s survivor’s guilt thing doesnt come from him actually dying in this au it’s from something Else, but blue will still kill him if she kisses him, just, for different reasons, it’s an actual curse this time and not something to do with the nature of who they both are. 

her father’s still a tree light, but like, she actually knows that from the outset? because. they live in cabeswater. the tree lights are all around and accept her as one of their own even if she can’t turn into a tree, and as a result of that, she’s got some cool perks.

b) still boosts psychic energies and magical powers like in canon

but she can’t use magic herself, still, which actually works in the favor of herself and the coven--witchcraft is in a sort of weird spot, culturally, where it’s both feared and often hated, but also understood to at times be necessary, especially by rural peoples like those of the village. im taking a very discworld spin on the witchcraft, because i love discworld and you can’t stop me, and so the attitude is, like. its frightening ancient magic and the church hates it but when there’s an emergency and someone’s on the border between life and death, or something is trying to pass into this world from another, etc etc etc, then you gotta suck it up and call on a witch because they’re the only ones who can deal with those things. so. the coven is tolerated, both because it’s too big and powerful to actually fight but also because it’s extremely needed when you live in a village right next door to fey lands. you NEED someone watching the border. however that doesn’t mean anyone wants to be seen publicly talking to a witch--but blue’s not a witch. she’s a witch’s daughter, but she’s not a witch herself, which is a step removed enough that she can go into town and run errands and also people will maybe pull her discretely aside and tell her if something’s coming up that the coven should know about, and it all works very neatly with her acting as a sort of liaison. very important role she plays, which is why gansey tries talking to her after his initial attempt to speak with the coven directly fails. 

speaking of the coven itself: i’ve been calling it the fox way coven, even tho it probably wouldn’t be called that because there’s no road called fox way that the coven is built on, it’s a big magic house out in the fairy forest, BUT they do have a fox theme because i love foxes and this is a gift i have been given. if people have familiars in this coven, they’re foxes rather than cats, because as wonderful as cats are u cant have them and foxes in the same house that will go bad. but also there’s a v small number of them, like maybe three or four total out of the much higher number of women living there, who are fey blooded like adam, but who become foxes rather than adam’s deer. persephone is one of these! (it’s worth noting the reason why they become the same animal is because of a combination of coincidence, intentional theming, and mostly just because like, virtually all of the residents there aside from persephone are related to either maura or calla) 

anyway the point is, because of this, blue’d seen enough feyblood transformations that when, one day when she was 9 or 10, on a visit to town, she saw the most distressed, disoriented fawn wobbling around frantically and was able to very quickly recognize that that was, in fact, a person who had probably turned into a deer for the first time, and responded by very calmly informing him that she knew who could help and leading him home. this is where those last two pictures come from, and how adam’s apprenticeship started. 

like, there was a lot of arguing from the witches immediately--of course we’re going to teach him how to become human again but we aren’t really going to take him on in the coven are we? he’s a boy, he’s some local kid we know nothing about, what happened to keeping it in the family, he’s the wrong animal and we’ve got a whole thing going on--at which point persephone parted everyone like the red sea, took one look at adam, went “mine now” and despite a lot of grumbling that was the end of it. she took him on a bit of a tour of cabeswater a few days later, after he’d had time to think it over, and he felt so drawn to the forest that he agreed to the apprenticeship.

so he’s technically persephone’s apprentice but like in actual practice he’s being taught by the entire coven lmao, ANYWAY

adam being adam also had a backup plan for trying to get out of the village--even at ten he figured witchcraft might be a first way out of there, he was already thinking about it, but by thirteen when the good ole abuse started (and at which point the last whispers of dissent died out very quickly amongst the coven, nope, adam is one of us now, do you want us to very threateningly hang out in your front yard sometime because we can do that--what do you mean no, let us do this,) he was also like. i dont think this is a guarantee of getting out of here i need a second job. and the thing is, as was mentioned in the original post, the fey blood also means adam’s got issues with iron; it’ll poison him if he’s stabbed with it but it also reacts to his skin touching it like a hot stove. he’s fine if there’s a layer between his skin and the iron, but if he touches it directly, it’s Bad. so ofc this headstrong idiot takes an open spot a t a metalworker’s in the village because adam is the king of making bad decisions. the witches have a betting pool on how long it’ll take him to out himself. “its fine i’ll wear gloves,” he says. “it’s the perfect disguise no one will expect someone with fey connections to work near so much iron,” he says. “i have everything perfectly under control,” he says.

anyway he totally forgets to wear gloves before grabbing an iron tool while his dad and his boss are both in the store and in clear view of him and that’s why he was getting chased by hunters when gansey rescued him 

also he and blue tried dating when they were like 13-14 and it ended about as badly as in canon and they made up later and by the time the story starts they’ve settled into very much being weird siblings. adam starts hanging out with gansey initially to try and basically spy on him, figure out why he’s here, but ends up rly liking the guy and deciding his reasons are sincerely to try and help people, and he tells this to blue who starts immediately accusing him of having a crush on the lordling and being a class traitor, because she does NOT like gansey at this point and really the nobility all prefer wizards to witches which is a stupid idiot decision and frankly the fact that this lordling is apparently enamored by some random deer is hilarious to her, but even moreso is the fact that adam actually defends the lordling to her, like, “wow adam its hilarious that the lordling’s friend thinks that you have charmed the lordling because from my perspective it looks the other way around” “shut uuuup you’re not listening im serious, like, yeah ok he put his foot in his mouth really hard when he talked to you but im telling you i dont think the whole i-wanna-understand thing is an act” “idk if i can trust you through those rose tinted glasses buddy. tell me again about that time he called you princely?” “oh my god”

talking abt questioning classpect (namely class) stuff a whole lot ヽ (^•ω•^)ノ w/o quirk cause im testing that today

so i know 101% for sure that im a heart player i have no doubts about it i fit nearly every description and trait given for them and ive been sure about this for fucking ever lol, aside from the 'teehee heart player romants and shipy :)' cause my me aro and romance repulsed xoxo <3 but thats obvious second off i try not to bring Obviously Not Classpect-y things into classpecty shit like people saying heart players loooove shipping specifically on basis of the leijons when dirk is Not, or that mages are inherently sad sacks of shit that hate everything bc of sollux when meulin is just a normal fucking person. or like, sylphs of heart only identifying as so when they just have trauma/a personality, or knights being "knights" when they are also just traumatized or depressed or whatever. Some classpecters will count trauma and Issues You Have as a part of your classpect journey and shit bc its an interesting way to conceptualize and in some cases grasp your... everything, but 1 it just makes me really fucking sad to go 'haha i do [blatant symptom of abuse] bc im [classpect] :)' and its easier for Me to keep that seperate, and also bc it is just not helpful for me and how i use classpects to go oh yeah literally everything you are and have and do etc is your classpect

but, i relate to mages in that i Know shit and a lot of my motivations both in general and behind specific things is to Know More Shit, and i?? guess???? i have suffered bc of/at the hands of/whatever my aspect????????? but i have no fucking clue what ppl mean when they talk about this, probably because it varies aspect-by-aspect XD but i don't relate to it in that i am not a sad sack of shit (heavily sollux-influenced analysis of mage as a class but a really, REALLY common one, so) and i love my aspect to bits and pieces and shreds and i WANT it to be a huge part of my life, i don't know wtf ppl mean when they say like, acting For your aspect or being its puppet sorta?????? i figure is another aspect-by-aspect thing but its real hard to grasp XD and i Do impact others and things not... like, a lot of witch things go oh you just completely turn this shit upside down and completely break its rules, and what i do is more subtle, ex i prefer to backseat a Little (not completely just a little) when it comes to 'leadership' in groups (but i am unspokenly made the leader a lot fsr?), but no matter where i am or what i do i have some level of influence and impact in the group anyway

but i relate to witches in :3 a lot of their thematic stuff teehee (i know its mostly just sburb and wholly fictional stuff that doesnt matter for irl people but coincidences are fun :3) and in that i do technically break rules wrt my aspect (ex i am invested in attraction and relationships and affection and all that, but only non-romantically, which kinda goes against the heart/love/etc = romance), and control/manipulation/changing/insert other witch-y verb here is kinda my Point for Knowing Shit as previously discussed, a lot of mage things imply mages learn shit and then leave it at that and just stew in it. i dont!!!! im learning shit so i can understand ppl better so i can mess with stuff better. i dont know how to explain that last bit but trust me dude. i also relate to it in that <3 i do everything for me and what I think is good i am not doing shit specifically to help others either induvidually or at large and if it does thats bc it happens to line up with what i thought was the best idea, ex. some jerk is in a group im in and i do things to slowly kick them out and it turns out everybody else wanted them gone too i DONT relate to it in that, [points at above thing about oh witches just completely turn their aspect upside down], and also 'they change aspect' is really, really, really fucking vague

ultimately i think one of my keywords wrt class would be Influence? or at least keyword for external stuff. whether i'm outright calculatedly going okay [knows thing] so if i do this thing it'll nudge this person in the direction i want them to go (which feels witchy), or if i'm just. -starts using neopronouns- -every time i enter a new group at least one person starts using neopronouns when they hadnt questioned/done so before-. -becomes openly aspec- -suddenly all my friends are questioning aspecs-. -ive been thinking about/knowing a specific topic pertaining heart-y shit- -people around me start parroting bits and pieces of it or they start questioning (if it had to do with gender/sexuality) and just start Thinking About It A Lot, Too- -the whole 'people inadvertantly assigning me leader or leader-ish in any group regardless of what i do' thing- etc theres. a lot of examples of this. (and this feels magey) internal shit is a diff story depending on what you do and dont include with classpect shit (life journey stuff? 'they start out this but later grow to be more this' etc, relationships with others, etc) but it's bc of the..... POWER FEELS LIKE A REALLY LAME AND EXAGGERATIVE WORD TO USE BUT IDK WHAT ELSE SO, power over and/or regarding my aspect here that makes me think i am probably absolutely definetely an active class

wandavision spoilers / thoughts 

it’s me rambling about the season and the episode and just stuff from the comics as well 

I want to preface this by saying I read the comics so like i know which ones they took parts from to use as the plot in this. But anyways this is about to be way too long I’ m sorry.

I’ll start with white vision because they changed a lot about him in the comics when we meet him and he’s that white color it’s because he has no human component and is emotionless meaning we see him tell wanda he doesn’t love her or the twins now we all knew hayward was a dick so him making this version of vision doesn’t surprise me but now we have the the hex vision has given white vision his memories back and he’s just dipped which means he’s going to come back at some point (also paul literally joked about working with someone he always wanted to work with it was himself) 

Now let’s talk about the twins or the other maximoff twins that we saw disappear but heard at the end again they kind of changed there storyline but not. In the comics agatha gives them to mephisto who eats them and later they defeat him and are reincarnated as Billy Kaplan and Tommy Shepherd and recruited to join the young avengers where they realize they are long lost twins so they are definitely still out there and the end of the episode proves it (also they better let billy marry hulking still i also need to have them keep Tommy being bi). 

Wanda, i love she’s finally coming to terms with her magic and powers and learning i do and it’s proving how powerful she can be and wandavision gave us a taste of the house of m storyline but in her own version rather than all the other versions of the perfect life she gave everyone and we love bringing the iconic scarlet witch outfit into everything finally. I want to love wanda and i do to a degree i just really dislike how the mcu has handled her backstory and her character

I saved him for last because i know this is going to be a long part of this post (sorry) but its time for me to talk about fake pietro/peter/ralph whoever we want to call him because I have a theory about him still because I don’t think it was a coincidence they chose Evan to come back and play Pietro. Lets go back to the beginning when Jimmy mentions he has someone in witness protection he hasn’t heard from for awhile and went to check on and this someone is never revealed like they just never mentioned them again at all even while putting together the board for town people. Is peter that person because at this point we’d have to know the multi-verse is real like this is at least after endgame so we know of the alternate timelines. But now back to ralph so agatha was controlling him and he had the necklace so we know most of his interactions with wanda weren’t really his own but why did he still have super speed even when he wasn’t around wanda like agatha seems like the person who would only let him have the powers when they were necessary (also yes i just refuse to believe its not peter i think thats been established) 

(Also ya’ll really thought mephisto was going to show up after we saw that fly cause he was one in the comics that was a reach)
