I really miss the natural hair community & watching natural hair content generally. That was so good for Black Women; we were thriving at it, too. And as rapidly as it rose to popularity, it’s crazy how dead the whole concept is now. I think it had more to do w all the division created over routines around maintenance than anything else. Everybody was entirely too pushy w trying to make what worked for them personally a staple for taking care of textured hair in general — & that shit walked so that colorism, featurism, texturism & misogynoir could run. Now the same ppl who was riding the wave a few years ago & swearing by all these products, brands, sponsors, wash day & styling methods have put natural hair away as a concept entirely.
Also, why the hell did we waste all that energy prefacing everything w, “Stop doing this and do these things for your hair to grow to tailbone length overnight🤡” — just to go right back to weave and perms? All that researching for what? All the dedication to disproving antiblack/misogynoir notions about Black hair for what? All the redefining of protective styles for what? All the trying to unlearn the belief structures around the colonization of Black hair for what? What did we teach ourselves fr? How did we make things any easier for Black Women and little Black girls? It’s tragic af. The Natural Hair Community/Movement is dead, it seems like. I don’t think we fought hard enough to prevent what happened to it honestly :\

*throws my headcanon at you and ducks away*
idk what my thought process was behind this other than they were both redheads and had songs about love and stuff (*゚益゚)ゞ
i think that since jack didn't have a lot of friends growing up due to night swan's protection, the only people he could see were his relatives and since the bride was a similar age to him they hit it off.
i have a few more hcs below the cut, and feel free to add ur own too i'd love to check them out (*・ε・*)
- they're both pretty popular in the danceverse and would regularly shout each other out and start fake beef lolol
- when they were younger, they would do each other's makeup with night swan's makeup lol
- when it was out that the bride was going through her divorce with the rasputin coach, jack was the first one to comfort her (and also talk tons of smack about rasputin)
- they like to make fun of each other's fashion a lot, but are secretly very influenced by each other

"Half brothers," Jon corrected.
And
"Our half brother," Sansa corrected, soft and precise.
I'm glad Jon and Sansa correct other people about this because it's really gonna be useful when they get married and someone accuses them of incest. They're cousins, so technically it's not incest.

" 'violence isn't the answer' listen buddy his question was 'are you some kind of d*ke' and the answer was im going to set your house on fire."
The Mascelle family is full of normal and very well-adjusted individuals who like to use their runt little brother's head as an armrest and embarrass him in front of his boyfriend
tiziano is mostly concerned about squalos mental well-being in relation to his upbringing
[ID: The minicomic features Squalo, Tiziano, and Squalo's elder sister (OC) Tigre, who resembles Squalo, although significantly taller; with short, messy hair, bangs sideswept to the right and stripes of darker colour going down to her nape; she has a stud nose piercing and two tiger-stripe-like marks on her cheek, and is wearing a athletic tee.
The first panel shows Squalo, looking offscreen with a slightly agitated looking expression, holding a red lighter and saying, "Tigre got in trouble fer tryn'a set the school on fire, so…".
The next panel shows someone snatching the lighter out of his hand, saying "gimme that", to which Squalo responds with a shout of "OI!!".
The third panel shows Tigre, rolling her eyes with a scowl, gesturing indignantly and repeating Squalo's words mockingly, " "Tryn'a".."
The fourth panel shows Tigre, deadpan, now holding a box of cigarettes alongside the lighter, saying "brother, i did set the school on fire."
The fifth panel shows Tigre, a cigarette now lit in her mouth, leaning one arm on a very annoyed Squalo's head, while her other hand grabs one of his, stopping him from trying to snatch the cigarette out of her mouth. She says, "An' I didn't "get in trouble", I got arrested.", whilst Squalo snaps, "Quit that, would'ja?!" (presumably referring to the smoking as he tries unsuccessfully to snatch the cigarette).
The sixth panel shows a bewildered-looking Tiziano, who, after a small pause of silence, asks, "how long ago was this?" o which Tigre, holding up two fingers and presumably leaning a bit harder on Squalo's head, replies,
"age 13 and 19, it happened twice."
Tiziano says, "dare i ask why?" and Tigre responds,
"teach called me a d*ke".
He asks, "both times?" and she responds
"Nah, but tha' otha' time was along th' same lines still."
The final panel shows Squalo attempting to remove his sister's arm from his head, shouting, "GET OFF'A ME YER GETTIN' ASH IN MY HAIR!"]

Dudebros think they can just slap the word “rivals” on bkdk and call it a title but it’s so much more complex than that. Even THEY don’t know wtf to call their relationship and neither of them fully understand wtf their feelings are towards the other. Anytime they’re asked about their relationship (whether it be in the manga or light novels) they either can’t give a straight answer or they settle for “childhood friends”. Whether it be platonic or romantic, their relationship is far too complex for a simple one word title and a lot of fans kinda refuse to delve into their relationship development out of fear of other fans thinking they ship the two. When in reality you truly can’t understand what’s happening in mha without understanding that the relationship between katsuki and izuku is not only extremely complicated from the readers standpoint but, also near inexplainable from their own POVs.
dudebros can say “rivals” but when we say rivals we mean it in a better more intellectual way sdhdhdhjdg
And yeah a permanent staple is “childhood friends” but beyond that?? none of these words (rivals, friends, classmates, acquaintances) hit the mark alone. EVEN BKDK WOULD THINK THAT. They’re dubbed as proper rivals, but idk… something about the obsession, the self-sacrificial tendencies, the fear of losing the other, the rage at the other’s pain, and the constant mimicry through admiration is A LOT ! (but because they’re two boys people put a cap on it)
antis know there’s more substance to bkdk’s dynamic, but they don’t like it, so they just say “Bakugo HATES Deku” because it’s easier.

uhhh. cousin marriage tw?
i hate that cousin marriage is very encouraged here because as a kid i loved to hang out with my one cousin who's around my age and he was a really cool friend to me and we shared a music taste and loved to play together all the time and i always remembered him fondly until my parents casually dropped the fact that they were planning to make us get married when we were older and now every time i remember him i'm like 😐😐😐😐 literally all my memories with him are tarnished forever lmao
fortunately all my other cousins are very young so i don't have to worry about that. i love playing video games and doodling with them they're so much fun to hang out with :)

3, 4 and 7 for the ask x
thanks for the ask!📚
3. What’s something you read recently and wanted to argue with (either with the book or the author or the fans)?
buckle up for a good ol' book rant!
so the dreamhealers series - a cozy slice of life scifantasy story about two neurodivergent individuals forming a queerplatonic partnership - is, it turns out, the origin story of the characters which the author mca hogarth has conceived a long time before as side characters in a completely different arc in her peltedverse. i assume she started developing said arc when she was a teen and wrote the dreamhealers when she was already an adult. the result is two stories that tonally and structurally couldn't be more different but that both feature these two characters which naturally resulted in characterization consistency problems. you can't take a weird lil guy from a pastoral novel where everyone just vibes and put him into a high stakes high fantasy plot without it taking a toll on their personality. now, this is not a problem if you finish the dreamhealers and just stop after book 4, however comma goodreads shows that there's this novella following the last book and you assume it's gonna be some sort of cute epilogue and you pick it up and it turns out it's not that but rather a short backstory of the characters mca hogarth wrote for her high stakes arc BEFORE she wrote the full version of their backstory aka the dreamhealers. are you still following? anyways i read the novella and was appalled at how jarring the difference is between jahir and vasiht'h in the series and this novella which, if you read in the order i'm reading in, basically serves as a link between the dreamhealers and prince's game. on the one hand, it's cool to see how much mca hogarth grew as a writer and how much more nuanced and relatable she made her characters in the course of their development. but on the other, it made me have unpleasant ruminations about what is canon and what isn't. this novella feels like a retcon designed to make jahir and vasiht'h fit a new narrative. however, it was written before the dreamhealers - does that then make dreamhealers a retcon and not as canon? both things can't be canon bc jahir and vasiht'h in the series would never do things they do in the novella. which makes it feel like a fanfic written by someone who doesn't understand the source material.
phew did it feel good to get all of this off my chest! tl dr please read the dreamhealers but under no circumstances read "family"
4. What are your top 3 comfort reads?
to be completely honest i don't typically re-read books for comfort purposes. that's what fanfics are for!✨ the top 3 i used to re-read the most (but not in quite a while tho) are lessons (aftg), astray (captive prince) and this unfinished theseus/the minotaur fic which i believe was called asterius und which, as i was distraught to discover, had been privated by the author😭 such tasteful monsterfucking literature i have never known before or since
7. What book do you love but usually not recommend because it’s weird or intense, etc?
i love aftg but i will rather bleach my soul by reading that fandom's discourse again than recommend it to anyone. and to be clear, it's not bc i think the seires is weird or poorly written or not good enough for general audiences - it's bc no one is worthy of studying the sacred texts except for me and a couple other initiated intellectuals
