Finished playing the chapter 15 of Punishing gray raven and... wow, Lamia might be my favourite character of this game right now.

Like, no joke, this chapter is amazing, Lamia story is so sad, she is so prescious, reading her past made want to go into the game, hug her and be her mom, because this chapter made me want to cry and made want to protect her with all my life

Everyone was so cruel with her, and at the same time they cared about her in their weird ways, specially the Medical Director, he kinda lied to her, the People in atlantis would allow her to starve to death, so this guy lied to her, so she would make the surgery to became a Cyborg and survive in the world dominated by the punishing virus.

After Lamia succeded in return to Atlantis everyone was already dead, the City was a giant graveyard, so Lamia in grief tried to bury the City under the sea.

And Lustrous she... she was kinda cruel with Lamia but... but she loved Lamia in her weird ways, Lustrous died of starvation, she was the last human in Atlantis, but did had food remaining, the chapter first let us think she gave up and died, but no, i thing the remaining food that she left was for Lamia, she left food for Lamia.... i want to cry right now.

Hi! You know what (TO ME) is the saddest part of Knights of the Alder, even though it objectively just isn't?

8 year old Aiden finds his mom's dead body. Henry becomes the target for his dad's grief, Cyrus is Talon's father.

And yet for me the saddest part is this one line from your The last talk short story:

"Henry nodded. “Don’t worry, I’ll be back in no time. Now sleep.”

Whenever I remember that this exists, I start shaking with sadness. I love you, Henry! I worship the ground you walk on! But did you have to say that? You could have just said, like "I'll just be getting some fresh air. Don't worry about me!" Why did you have to lie! Like, I know why, but aaaaaaa

I totally didn’t forget about writing that before you told me no what makes you think that

I see why that would make you sad. It makes me sad too. Henry leaving in general is something that always makes me curse myself for putting us through this angst 😅

I wrote this short story a good while back and maybe I would have Henry phrase it a bit different now, but in its essence it would probably be much the same.

The thing that you don’t get to see in the short story since it’s from Aiden’s POV is that Henry is really close to telling Aiden the truth. But he can’t bring himself to.

It was a huge struggle for Henry. If it were up to him he would’ve taken Aiden with him. But he knew it wouldn’t work out.

So he left without him, leaving behind nothing but a note that reads “I’m sorry.”

I agree with you that he could’ve said something else instead (something that wouldn’t break everyone’s heart), but these sort of soothing lies were something Henry often used to not worry Aiden.

Honesty would’ve been better, surely (this applies to Aiden’s whole family). Henry does know that now that he’s more mature and has some distance between him and his old situation, but back then he didn’t know any better.

Also, this is kind of unrelated, but I still wanted to share this thought with you:

When you named all those other sad things that are in The Knights of the Alder, I realized that looking back at it, this story is a whole lot about grief and the absence of something, about searching what is lost.

It’s a reoccurring theme and I think it is funny that I never intended and also never noticed it. Until now. So thanks for making me see that 🙈
