the zine library is having a renaissance. the tamagotchi club has massive turnouts every meetup. the tobogganing ban was lifted & sledding culture is thriving among both kids and adults. the rave scene is healthy. the ballroom scene is making waves in certain categories (i've heard it said that canada's best category is "bizarre"). tenant advocacy is booming with exciting formations appearing in neighbourhoods and buildings throughout the city. saunas had a real moment with public sweat, and banya and seoul zimzilbang are going strong. small interesting venues keep popping up, like market video (the secret cinema in kensington) and allan gardens (transitioned their greenhouse to a DIY space). if your ear is only tuned to chatter about what has been suffocated, then you will go mad with grief. but toronto is alive and well, and you are here in gods perfect timing.

Yung Lean announces new album Stranger, shares new single “Hunting My Own Skin” and a pretty un-lean amount of tour dates
Sad boys around the world can collectively rejoice, as Yung Lean — a.k.a. Sweden’s first successfully self-aware android torch singer Jonatan Leandoer Håstad — has once again come online with new music likely to make the perfect addition to any Tamagotchi funeral soundtrack. After spending most of 2017 under a low profile, Håstad has announced an upcoming new album, entitled Stranger, slated for release November 10 on Year0001. In addition, he’s also shared “Hunting My Own Skin,” the album’s newest single (which follows “Red Bottom Sky” from earlier this month). But dedicated Yung Lean fans shouldn’t be too quick to whip out their Game-Boys – if the singles are any indication, Lean may be taking the album’s title seriously and showing something new and unfamiliar. He’s has been one to surprise and reinvent throughout his career, like with last year’s Warlord, which took his music to experimental extremes following a year of personal tumult. Whether or not the hip hop crooner wants to clean up or refine a new sound, he’s sure to keep the post-internet fanboys in a frenzy. Finally, Yung Lean will be capping off the album’s release with an extensive list of tour dates that’ll take him across Europe and North America from November through February. Pre-order Stranger over here, and check out the full tour itinerary below, as well as the new single “Hunting My Own Skin.” Stranger tracklisting: 01. Muddy Sea 02. Red Bottom Sky 03. Skimask 04. Silver Arrows 05. Metallic Intuition 06. Push / Lost Weekend 07. Salute / Pacman 08. Drop It / Scooter 09. Hunting My Own Skin 10. Iceman 11. Snakeskin / Bullets 12. Fallen Demon 13. Tumblr media
It’s almost a guarantee that if the Toronto Tamagotchi Club is having a meetup, the press is going to be there! We really love the hard work that Twoey Gray is putting in! The latest meetup was on November 12th, 2023 at Allan Gardens from 12:00-3:00PM.
The folks over at Tonronto Tamagotchi Club even made a radio appearance on CBC Toronto to advertise the meetup. The meetup had an impressive turnout that keeps increasing in headcount with each meetup. The latest meetup drew a crowd of 30 before getting kicked out for monopolizing the greenhouse.
Tumblr media
Both CBC News and Radio Canada made an appearance at the meetup to write articles and record footage. Be sure to check out all the love they are receiving! Keep up the good work!

Toronto Tamagotchi Club Featured on CTV News & Global News Talk Radio
Tumblr media
The Tamagotchi movement continues to grow! The folks over at the Toronto Tamagotchi club, which a club within Toronto Canada that hosts local meetups for Tamagotchi fans to make meaningful connections and to make friends within the community. Love this!
CTV News is a national broadcast in Canada, so this is a big deal! The article is written by Hannah Alberga who provides details about the Toronto Tamagotchi club, and interviews Twoey Gray, who is the founder of the Toronto Tamagotchi Club.
The article details how the Toronto Tamagotchi Club was founded by Twoey Gray which all started with a post during the pandemic about their Tamagotchi being lonely. Twoey thought there must be others in Toronto that play with Tamagotchi, and they were right!
Twoey advertised a first meetup which was at Allan Gardens Conservatory in Toronto where a dozen people attended, and new friendships were made. The second meet up was in Kensington Market, and Twoey already has another event for the summer on deck.
“Being able to nerd out with people who share your experiences … is something a lot of people have been craving for a long time,” she said.”
Be sure to read the CTV News article here.
Tumblr media
Next up is the feature on Global News Talk Radio, which is a national talk radio station. Twoey Gray was also featured on the talk radio show where they elaborate on their love for Tamagotchi, and the creation of the Toronto Tamagotchi Club.
Twoey also spends some time explaining Tamagotchi to the talk show host, and how there is a community of Tamagotchi lovers, and the Toronto Tamagotchi Club’s goal is to bring people together. Definitely worth a listen and the audio is featured on their Instagram post here.
These features made the national news! Keep up the awesome work, Toronto Tamagotchi Club!
