"Okay, I'm glad you were polite but the thing is, how am I supposed to respond? What is the value of politeness when politeness is a big fucking boulder that you hide behind as you- fling shit at me? Should I be grateful for receiving a decorous and well behaved stabbing from you?"
i have a lot of thoughts about tsv 39 because it’s really really good but my immediate takeaway is, once again, that the silt verses sound design really sets the bar for audio drama. i’ve never wanted to crawl inside the sound of impossibly and eternally shattering glass so badly, thanks
Hello everyone I am here just to point out that one of the “prompts” poor Timothy delivered was “tax incentives for large families”. Child tax credits exist in the US, usually as a method of relieving poverty, but some Bible Belt states have floated the idea of offering bigger breaks or straight up cash if you have a certain number of children
Perhaps I was wrong to expect such a dramatic annihilation, Wither Tides and river’s rise - because after all, this is the only way that something as grand as a city or a nation or an empire can ever die.
Starving, slow, and in terrible self-denial.
I look out and all I can think is that I no longer want to wreck this city; I no longer feel dwarfed by its towers and heights, frightened and furious in my own smallness and anonymity amongst the millions here.
I want to lie down in the ruins of Glottage, and comfort it as it bleeds to death.
— Chapter 39: This Rotten World Shall Wheeze Its Last.
Going a little nuts about adjudicator Shrue honestly. Their arc, starting out genuinely trying to fight for their beliefs and slowly getting worn down, giving in and compromising their principles bit by bit. It's so devastatingly believable. The worst thing is they still want to fight for what they think is right. They still want to try to make things better. But they let themself get pulled in too deep. They conceded too much, let their conviction slip bit by bit and now they're trapped. Condemned to be used as the mouth piece for a twisted bastardization of their original cause. Under threat of loosing a family they're not even sure really exists. It's so fucking sick.
And it's partially their own fault. They betrayed their ideals multiple times in order to maintain their position. But also the system they're in was never going to let them carry on being so staunchly anti war and anti sacrifice. Instead they they've been manipulated, threatened and now fully co-opted into backing polices that are the exact opposite of their original positions. It just feels so horribly familiar.
Anyways, been fucking sucker-punched in the gut by this damn show once again. Can't wait for the next one.
The propaganda film designed to play in retirement homes and persuade the elderly and infirm to voluntarily sacrifice themselves to become essentially bombs (you get a limited edition medal! :D) is just. SO good and so sharp
i’m sorry i cant get over the high adjudicator stuff from this episode imagine joe biden starts a war with russia and in the middle of it he hires a sex worker that fucks him into a coma. hello do you hear this
i actually cant think of a worse concept than carsons offer to shrue this ep omfg "survive this gauntlet of suffering and youll get the reward of being a powerless figurehead for a brand that plasters bandaids over the issues you care about the most"
