Norm is absolutely one of my favourite characters in the Fallout universe. The fact he loves his family and wants what's best for them being what drives him to look for the truth of what has happened to them and why is fantastic. The ultimate difference between him and Chet, too, is a great show of his character. It began with him choosing to help his sister find their father and ends with him coming to the same realisation as she has – their father was not the man he said he was and much of their life has been a lie. Watching him decide to take the hunt for the truth into his own hands, even when it could be the end of him, is incredibly compelling.

What makes Norm so enjoyable to watch, too, is just how human he is. All of the characters in the show are that way, which is part of what makes it great (yes, even the ghouls as they were at one time human). The distress he feels at seeing what happened to Vault 32 being swept under the rug, and the anger he feels towards Betty and the others for doing it seemingly out of a desire for control and power more than anything else is tangible. The fact it drives him to take the risk of sneaking into Vault 31 shows his bold and couregous side, and also that it's driven by not only his own curiosities but his desire for the truth. It’s a great parallel trait he shares with Lucy and, as she comes to find out, their mother. The anger he feels towards his father and also the desperation he feels to survive are a great contrast of his truth seeking and his baser humanity.

All things considered, Norm's competing feelings of a desire for truth, a desire for safety, curiosity, and a love for his family are what make him a great character. The fact he shares those traits with Lucy but expresses them in different ways creates a strong parallel narrative for their characters, and also does a great job showing the two sides of courage. The fact neither he or Lucy are impervious or shy away from moments of weakness and subsiming emotion latch onto the naivety from their upbringing and also their humanity. With them both now having to reckon with the truth about their father, a reunion between them will I'm sure be great and also remind them that not all of their family members are bad. Reckoning with the truth about their mother and Lucy's love for her being what compelled her to end her suffering before breaking down at the gravity of it is another layer of complexity to their family dynamics that both of them will need time to sit with. The contrasting feelings of how they knew their father versus what they've come to learn about him serve well to separate them from others like Chet; where he, their cousin, chooses to remain wilfully ignorant, they chose to put aside their fears and look for a truth they knew was out there.

Chet is a coward because he chooses to ignore the truth he has seen with his own eyes.

Lucy is brave because she is willing to go to any and all lengths to find her father and is then willing to end the suffering her mother is under because of him; she is openly emotional and driven by that and the love she feels for her family and is horrified and shattered by her father being a different man than the one she had always known.

Norm is brave because he is willing to do anything for his sister and father and, when faced with the choice to stay in blissful ignorance, because he chooses to seek out the truth even when it could hurt him; he, too, doesn't shy away from the pain the truth about his father causes him and, like Lucy, has to learn to live with the competing memories of their father and the reality of who and what he is.

Hank is a coward because, while he goes to the extremes to attempt to preserve himself and his family, he refuses to accept the fact his actions have consequences for the way his children (and, previously, their mother) had seen him and instead tries to force things to go back to the way they were before his children could learn of his ability to be selfish.

And Rose was brave because she loved her children so much that she would and did do everything for them, even when she had to put her love for their father aside and risk herself so that she and her children could have a chance to live in truth rather than lies. Her children share that with her, even though they didn't know it, just as much as they share her love, empathy, and desire for the truth even when living in wilful ignorance could have been easier.

Tl;dr – the entire MacLean family being driven by love for each other but expressing it in different ways that ultimately drive them apart is not only great at showcasing the different sides of courage and cowardice but showing the way Lucy and Norm are so similar and are driven by their love for their family just as much as their desire for the truth and that neither Lucy or Norm shy away from their emotional and impulsive reactions to it presents them as not only fully human but two sides of the same coin; they are both couregous even though they take two different paths to the truth.

Answers and events I hope for in C3E96; spoilers for C3E95 below the cut, obviously, and also because it got really long:

For everyone left in the room to talk about what Orym experienced in the fight. I think it’s hard to judge where people will ultimately fall on the intra-party conflict based only on what we saw in that last hour of the previous episode when, A) they woke up in the middle of a situation and may have missed some of the context, and B) were so shocked in the moment that some of them seemed unsure of how to act or what to feel. Talking about it would be helpful to everyone, including the audience. I’m particularly interested in the Ashton-Orym-Fearne of it all. Ashton tried to de-escalate and get Laudna to apologize, but was not as demonstrably supportive of Orym having the sword as Dorian and Chet were. Previously Ashton and Orym have been among each others' biggest supporters, so how does Orym feel about that reaction? Personally, I don't think this will open a rift between the tanks, but it would be bad if it did. Also, Fearne was reluctant to take sides between her two friends. How does Orym feel about that?

For Imogen to return to BH’s room and immediately blurt out that Laudna is knowingly feeding Delilah. Do I think this will happen? No*. If she did do it, might Laudna see it as a betrayal? Probably. Might it ultimately help Laudna? I think it could help to have everyone know what she's dealing with and why she's acting out of character. Plus, while the reemergence of Delilah is a recent event in-story, I am personally ready for the narrative to move on from her being the unaddressed elephant in the room. And BH definitely needs to come up with a plan before Delilah either seizes control of Laudna or Percy sees her form of dread and takes the choice out of their hands.

How is Laudna going to act towards the rest of BH after her absorption of Otohan’s dagger? In her conversation with Imogen at the end of the last episode Laudna said she "didn't mean to...," but that seemed to me to have more to do with Laudna’s fear that she’d damaged their relationship, not any actual regrets about her actions. Will she be immediately apologetic with the rest of the Hells? Will she deflect and try to act like nothing has changed? As in her conversation with Imogen, her reaction may depend on how they act toward her and whether they insist on consequences.

Some push-back or boundary setting from BH toward Delilah and Laudna’s recent actions. Again, I’m not convinced this will happen based on prior experiences and I know they’re about to head into something difficult, but ignoring what’s happening with Laudna has the potential of making that difficult situation even more dangerous. When Ashton tried to absorb the shard, he had about two-and-half to three episodes-worth of consequences and mea culpas. You can debate whether that was warranted, and I know there are strong feelings on all sides there. You can argue that the situations are different, which is certainly true. But Ashton didn’t attack anyone in the party and, intentionally or unintentionally, Laudna did. There's got to be some kind of reckoning with her doing that. It’s not about whose actions were worse, again they are different situations. And it's not about making Laudna suffer because Ashton did, but the whole point of the trust-building exercises was to build a stronger group. This is a setback in that effort and I don’t think it’s just we fans who will draw connections between the two events.

Also, as an aside, I find it funny (in an "Oh look, narrative connections!" not "Ha-ha" kind of way) that both Ashton and Laudna's respective power grabs could have/may have destructive consequences for Whitestone. One up close and the other (currently) at a distance.

For Fearne to question Orym about his pact with Nana Morri. There’s been a lot of fandom speculation around what everyone’s reactions to that will be, so I can’t wait to see how it plays out in-game. I suspect there will be some surprises.

How will the Fearne/Ashton and Orym/Dorian relationships develop? Will the potential for romantic partnerships there change the EXU trio’s friendships with each other?

Let’s go to Aeor everyone! As a C3 fan, it’ll be my first time there but I’ve seen a lot of hints and discussion from C2 fans and I adored EXU: Calamity’s depiction of the Age of Arcanum, so I’m excited about BH exploring the ruins of another city from that time period.

Essek’s reaction to BH’s…everything. To the fight and the tension in the group, yes, but also to just them as individuals. I always enjoy outside characters' impressions of the Hells.

New outfits and character art! Maybe? Hopefully?

Where are the other members of the Cerberus Assembly and where do they stand on Ludinus and his plans?

*I will be very surprised if Imogen tells everyone, but I will not be surprised if she tells at least one person about it telepathically. In the past that person would have been Orym, so it'll be telling if she chooses to confide in him this time. Given the situation, she might go to Ashton, Chet, or Fearne instead and all of them would react to that information in very different ways.

This is a genuine question, but idk if I just follow good people or don't scroll through the critrole tag enough, but where are you finding biphobia? Or I guess, if I could phrase it another way, in regards to what are people being biphobic? I'm not looking to start shit, I just haven't seen any or am horrifyingly ignorant on how it's presented

I just open the tags or, more often, finding a blog that was reblogged by a blog in my activity. Stuff that I've seen this month alone have included:

referred to Chet, who has flirted with people who are not women on multiple occasions, as the token straight

insisted that Imogen and Laudna are specifically lesbians / assumed that Imogen and Laudna are, by default, lesbians — some people get real aggressive if you mention interpreting Imogen or Laudna as bisexual but a lot of it is subtler than that

surprised that a woman who is married to a man can roleplay a woman who is pining for a woman in a meaningful way, as if the two are exclusive to one another

acted like Laura has never played a queer character before when Vex is bisexual

dismissed Vex as not counting bc she ultimately married a man

"joked" that Fearne is wasted on men

referred to Fearne as a lesbian (this is uncommon, but it usually happens in "jokes")

referred to Allura as a lesbian

refused to count Liam as playing a queer PC every campaign

This is not even the most egregious stuff historically, but this is some of what I've seen in the past month.

The biphobia problem is recurrent in this space—just as it's recurrent in any other space I've been in. A lot of it is outright dismissal of queer characters when they're attracted to other genders or downplaying that attraction, acting like that attraction is not as important, or even erasing that attraction to other genders. There's a lot of diminishing characters who are attracted to other genders as being not as important or as good / shiny / meaningful, sometimes outright dismissing them as not counting or framing them as placeholders for "more real" queer characters. The idea that wlw are by default lesbians and mlm are by default gay men is a big but subtle one. That's all just to name a few things.

A lot of it is more indirect than people expect, but it is pervasive in most fandom spaces, and this fandom space is no exception despite the number of bisexual characters.

NEW FIC: BODYBUILDING

The creaking highlighted his waddling steps into the kitchen. The same path he took every hour or so, hands cradling the warm bulge of his gut, hungry for more. All those years ago, he'd had no soft dough to hold. But that was years ago. He fished two beers out of the fridge and emptied them into his belly, feeling it expand under his pudgy fingertips. He returned with an armful of snacks, but by the time he managed to start his stream, they were gone.

He flexed for his fans, but his arms grew tired from holding up the thick ring of fat sagging where his bicep hid. He smacked his gut and let loose a rolling belch for the camera. He could barely move under the weight of his food, and the more he moved, the gassier he got. Not that he cared. 

"It all started in that gym!" Chet slurred, head spinning from the combo of weed, pounds of food, and alcohol. He laughed at the photo.

The Chet in the photo flexed in front of the squat rack. It had been shot on a polaroid in a gym that no longer stood, not far from the CUNY campus where he'd studied Personal Training.

His life had been going perfectly. Right out of college he made a name for himself. Although the gym he worked for was fresh, it showed potential -- and so didn't Chet. He too was fresh, his mind was sharp and he was damn good at his job. By design his only hobby was training hard. Obsessively tracking macros and calories. He ate right, never cheated, and cranked away day and night, exercising his body. Lifting heavy, then heavier. He’d won his fair share of "natural" competitions, his name had value in the right circles. He loved that his body put him in the spotlight: Exactly why he needed the self-gratuitous photo taken.

"Chet's happy place!" His gym rat buddies had joked.

He ended up with his pictures in magazines and on websites. He racked up a social media following. He trained a dozen and one Hollywood stars, and catapulted into fitness fame. Chet found his new happy place -- alongside a well-paying spot as the face of the best new fitness brand.

Now, he looked like a slob, half naked body surrounded by a pile of plates and filth. Lifting weights had become lifting the remote. He tweaked his swollen nipples and flexed again, the effort making him fart. He breathed it in, getting worked up and squeezing another out for good measure.

Embiggn had come to him with an offer he couldn't refuse. He had been getting bored of the rat race. He won often, and made money, but it was dull. For a long time he toyed with the idea of starting his own guru brand, and for no good intentions. The company knew he was perfect for their brand: he was a vain, egocentric meathead that needed to get bigger by any means necessary. He took their sponsorship and ran with it, shilling out Embiggn programs and equipment and gym memberships and sponsored nutritionists. He was the biggest face in fitness, and Embiggn grew to become the best selling fitness brand in the US. Sex sells, but sex appeal sells better. Chet and his brand had millions of fans worldwide, and he was plastered all over their merch.

"And now the new life-changing product from... from my one and only sponsor... Embiggn!" he said, like he didn't know what the words meant.

It was the ultimate fitness device, according to Embiggn. It looked like a large crate-like box, marked with the trendy logo and fitted with a touch screen. All you had to do was open the lid and punch in the serial code. After many brain dead tries, Chet managed to enter the short code, and the device sprang to life. It wasn't terribly loud, but very flashy and overdesigned. It moved mechanically at first, then seamlessly slid under him for his "workout", then dispensed several electrodes and simple instructions.

With a clearer head he would have felt ridiculous, but not then. He'd been the perfect beta tester, watching hours and hours of videos training him to be a mindless pig without even knowing. Hours spent gorging, lounging, and growing while he was convinced nothing had changed.

He leaned back into the couch, feeling the prods of the self-assembling parts. Two cold cups suctioned onto his swollen nipples, six electrodes adhered to his stomach, and two to his temple.

"Ready?" A soft voice asked him.

"Hell yea-mmmmph!” The machine had hardly waited for his confirmation. A tube snaked down his throat and pumped his gut full of lard. He moaned around the tube, feeling his already swollen body swell more with every pump. Chet didn't feel bloated; he just felt hungrier and hungrier. Eagerly he sucked the mix down, and as he sucked, his mind withered more and more. 

It had specifically been programmed for his brain — decades of user profiles in their database. They knew more about him than he did. It knew his need to get bigger, and it would help him acquire the level of fitness he wanted. Embiggn hadn't lied. They had formulated each machine to reach into the depths and create perfection. The seat cradled him no matter how much his ballooning body shifted. The machine tugged at his sensitive chest, and milked his cock, all the while pouring pure fat down his throat. Chet realized, dimly, that he'd never felt better in his whole life. And like that, his life was reduced to the machine.

After years of eating up the material on the Embiggn apps, in his mind, he was just as buff as he'd always been. He didn't need an Embiggn brand VR headset to see his body getting stronger instead of fatter, but it had certainly helped. That paired with the spent years eating up the fattening "health supplements" and food around him. 

Desperately he sucked at the tube. He needed more. His wide ass blew right through his tarp like shorts. His tight skin glistened with sweat, his breathing quick and shallow. Between his elephantine thighs, the machine quickened its pace. He thought that his overfilling might end at orgasm, but when he finished three containers to no mercy, he truly gave up. Helplessly he sucked down the fattening cocktail--not that he had much choice--and the last shred of humanity he'd had was lost. A bubbling fart slipped from his ass, and he shot his load. The machine deemed this to be enough pleasure, and relinquished him. The machinery repackaged itself to charge, leaving Chet propped on a couch too fragile to support his weight. It splintered beneath him in pieces, but he was too dazed to notice. 

It was quite a feat of engineering they had managed. As long as he streamed on an Embiggn platform, his image would be one of yesteryear. The Embiggn AI generated a perfect likeness of him, only with his beefy tanned body, and not his hoggish form. When he flexed his cellulite, his digital muscles bulged. Instead of his gut hanging out of his custom Embiggn Personal Trainer tee, his shredded muscles filled it out. Any dopamine spike detected by the program would beef up his digital self even bigger, and bigger they had grown.

It was a new age. The program had changed his life for sure. If he hadn't glossed over his contracts, he'd have known what he signed up for. But no one ever read the contract, the suits at Embiggn knew that. They marketed their ultra fattening, brain melting products as uber-healthy supplements decorated with fitness gods, while the fitness gods that took it became uncontrollably obese, and Chet was no different. Then they provided them with the ultimate distraction, a fantasy world of fame that kept the pigs docile, distracted, and addicted. 

And like sheep, the masses would follow. More people would pick up Embiggn -- through word of mouth, through flashy advertisement, through the millions of bots pumping out positive info. Then it wouldn't just be gym bros made to be massive hogs. In fact, according to the spreadsheets, nearly 45% of all traditional gym goers had given up a physical location for an Embiggn package. That number climbed exponentially every single quarter, and with the release of their New Year's Resolution package, the future looked even fatter.

Chet ended his stream in which his viewers had watched a massively strong man reach his new personal best. In some way, he really had. Three tubs of Embiggn Gainer pumped into his ruined body, three pounds of pure fat gained in one session. He sighed, content with his crippling obesity. After all, he could see he was still the shredded muscle God of his dreams. He smiled for the camera, sluggishly flexing and farting.

His cock ached from overstimulation, but he teased his nipples anyway, drool spilling out of his mouth. He liked being dumb and fat, even if he had no idea that he was. It made his tiny cock hard, and made him cum. And he liked that a lot. Too bad he was too wide to reach the little chub hidden under his massive fat pad. Saudade: "I Never Sang for My Father"

"Nothing good ever happens to Shawn Hunter" was so ingrained in him he often felt that someone had written his life story in such a way as to doom him to a never-ending cycle of misery.

The reality was somewhere in his life when he was very young, someone had put this idea into his head. The memory was vague, but he remembered a teacher had spoken these words over him. It was perhaps not those exact words and was more like "nothing good has happened to Shawn Hunter" or "nothing good will happen to Shawn Hunter" that was actually said. Whatever the original phrase was, it stuck in his head as "nothing good ever happens to Shawn Hunter".

And it was so apart of his core that he was undeserving of good things happening to him that he lived it out for over 30 years. In those moments when something good did happen to him, he was unable to accept it and, in most cases, actively rejected it.

Just like he'd rejected Jon for so long.

The ultimate good.

Shawn sighed and let his chin drop to his chest. When he looked up again, Chet Hunter stood in front of him, looking very much alive.

He froze in shock.

He hadn't seen Chet since he'd been home.

His biological father leaned lazily against the couch. His plaid shirt unbuttoned down to the fourth button so that his white beer-stained t-shirt showed. These shirts were tucked into faded blue jeans.

Chet stared at him with glassy eyes.

"So now you know what happened to Teach," he said in a gruff, almost accusatory tone.

Shawn narrowed his eyes at the apparition. "Yeah, I do."

The corner of Chet's mouth twitched. "You happy now?"

"Gettin' there."

Chet stared at him impassively. "Tell me, Shawnie, is Mr. Perfect, Joe Cool, everything you imagined him to be?"

Shawn didn't know how to respond.

When Chet showed up post-death, he was always humble and contrite with a wisdom and grace he did not have in life.

The snippy, critical bite to his words now threw him off.

When he didn't answer, Chet threw up his hands. "You wish he'd been your dad instead of me don'tcha?" He swore at Shawn. "I did the best I could for you, Shawnie! I had my own problems. You weren't the only one who never had nothing good happen to him. You think life was easy for me? It wasn't! I did all I could do. Couldn't do nothing else."

This is what Chet was like when he was alive, making every situation about him and never taking responsibility for anything he did. Shawn's eyes narrowed as the old familiar feelings of anger, resentment, hurt, and fear rose up in him.

"Yes, you could've," he snapped back.

Chet's glared at him. "How?"

"You could've come back and talked to me, told me the truth- that you were happier without a wife and kid. Happier with the alcohol than with me. Then you could've left me with someone who cared about me!"

Chet swore again and turned away. When he looked back, his eyes were red-rimmed and angry. "You adored him! He could give you things I couldn't. I could never compete with Teach. But you were my kid! I deserved the adoration you gave him."

Shawn paused and reminded himself that this was not the real Chet. However, that fact made this encounter even more confusing as he was no longer in control of it.

Chet was going off script.

Way off script.

And it pulled his thoughts past Katherine and losing Audrey to losing Jon. Those feelings that had been dredged up from the depths of him exploded through the surface.

"Then why did you agree to let them adopt me and then come back and say no?! Why did you let me go to New York to get Mom and then lie to me about Dad and that nurse?!"

His words hit Chet and instantly drained all color from him. He withered into a sick old man. "You callin' him Dad now? You gave him my name?" His voice was weak and trembling. "That's why, Shawnie. Without the stories I had nothin'. You loved him more. Stories were all I had to keep you with me."

“Well, this ice cream will melt if I just keep jaw flapping. *Picks up ice cream dish* How about we try this? It is my favorite flavor too, mint fluorite chip smothered in rich, rose-pink sauce. Of course, topped off with a heaping mountain of whipped cream. Garnished with a light and airy cookie rod to add a nice, pleasant crunch. *Licks lips* Now, if you don’t mind me, I must shovel some of this frozen treat into my mouth. *Hums in enjoyment*

Oh, this is very good! But I must take it slow, or I will get a processor freeze, right?

Oh, by the way, thank you for weighing in on the cups up versus cups down discussion! Several agreed with my thought that they should be top-side down. However, one anonymous user did make an important statement. It reads as follows: *clears throat* My team prefers to face the glasses up because “ it’s so the glasses don’t get dirty from touching the cabinet,” but I think it’s shuttlescrap, clearly you’re right, and they need to be faced down to not collect dust.”

Well, I sure don’t want to cause a rift between you and your team. *Bites a cookie rod, crumbs flying everywhere* Oh, do pardon my mess. But if I may offer a simple solution- just clean the cabinets, that way the top of the cups won't get dirty. *Winks*

Oh, and Alcorian pips in as well. *Optics widen* ‘The cups should absolutely be placed upside-down in the cabinet, and Rat/chet’s behavior frankly horrifies me /lh’ *Laughs* Oh my, sometimes I simply wonder what goes through that old mech’s processor, right? Let’s move on to the next question. As well as the next dish. I sure polished off this ice cream! *Shows empty dish* Hmmm… what would be a good selection? Oh, how about some stuffed shells? * Picks up the bowl and shows the camera* Don’t these look scrumptious? Lithium-based noodles in the shape of a fun, large shell stuffed with three types of cheeses- one being ricotta cheese. *Face lights up in glee* Yes, that is my most fav type of cheese! But also, the sauce is vibrant and is seasoned with copper, zinc, and iron. *Grabs a shell and takes a large bite* Very good!

Wow, we have a lot of shy watchers, don’t we? It’s alright; this is a safe place. I promise I won’t bite! *Playfully winks* Another anon asks: “Is Rat/chet keeping things simple with Cyber/tronian dishes, or did he also gather up some organic/earth-based foods to add to the menu?” Well, while our digestive tracts are indeed powerful enough to digest ores, metals, and minerals, Earth-based foods can be consumed, but they do not provide much nutritional value. I have tried a few, mainly those Little Debbie snacks… *Sheepishly smiles* Those Swiss rolls look good. However, like most Earth-based foods… they can give one indigestion and…well…. Regarding Rat/chet’s cooking… * Optics dart back and forth* Let’s just say it is improving. Being such a busy Doctor tending to his patients, he would opt for quick meals instead of tasty ones. Meaning, he would eat a lot of microwaved dishes. *Crinkles nose and sticks tongue out* Yuck! They were like chewing tires with how rubbery they were! However, he has improved, mainly due to my teaching him how to cook. *Bites lip* Well, when I don’t cook for him, that is. He can make simpler meals that still taste good. And I didn’t like that. Not one bit. *Eats the last bit of flan* I want everybody to be treated with the kindness and respect they deserve. Mechs shouldn’t have to fear ridicule for their beliefs or have to work the streets because of their alt mode. Everyone deserves to be happy. And free.

The soup consists of cyber-fish broth, shandite sauce, and sweet rhodium wine. *Continues eating cake* Oh, and I usually put in some cyber-fish cakes and dried seaweed and garnish it off with some feldspar. *Gives a chef’s kiss* The spectacular dish always lightens my mood! *Scraps plate clean*

Wow, that was tasty! And my belly is feeling awfully huge right now! *Sets plate down* This plating is starting to get tight. I don’t know how much room I have left. And I have so many more dishes I wanted to try and share with you! *Belly grumbles* Oh my! Did you hear that? Sounds like my paunch is starting to talk to you all as well! This is based on the idea that vault tec's experiment for vaults 31-33 is to make the perfect employee, so what if by sending some of vault 33's residents to 32 is the Vault experiments way of culling undesirable traits in the vault dwellers?I'm sure I'm not the only one to think of this idea but it seems like whenever a disaster happens before a Vault 31 overseer is elected, not only is it a (conveniently timed) coincidence for their election, it also acts like a stress test for the residents to kind of see who handles it best according to what the experiment is looking for in the "perfect employee". For example, Step, Chet, and Woody all get major PTSD from the raider attack to the point they need counseling. Norm handles it (relatively) well from what we see thus he doesn't get sent over to vault 32.

And given what we see when Norm and Chet went to investigate Vault 32, and how the bodies were left like that for a while, it does seem like this might be the purpose of this middle vault because why bother to check if they're ok when they're not vital to the mission? This does seem like something they'd do in order to survive into the apocalypse to be the ultimate winner of the capitalist game. Idk what they'd do to continue to make profit in an economy that no longer values the US dollar but capitalists don't exactly think ahead very well (look at the disasters the stock market has caused). Vault tec was realistically trying to secure it's existence in order to continue to profit into the apocalypse, despite not knowing or having much of a plan for *how* they'd continue to profit in an economy that would be entirely unknowable to them, which I also consider realistic because the bourgeois can't help but only think of money for money's sake especially when they're corrupt beyond comprehension, look at what caused the 2008 financial crisis, or even the great depression, or Boeing who cut so many corners to save a buck despite The fact that it would cause the deaths of everyone inside the plane if any of those parts failed which is such a deadly contradiction of the capitalist mindset. It was inevitable that a disaster would happen and yet they did it anyways.

Long story short before I continue ranting for too long, I think vault 32 is for culling. And also Vault Tec is portrayed realistically based on real world examples of bourgeois dumbassery in capitalism 👍

So, I actually already have several playlists for Ottavio, the first one being the famed "no thoughts only tesoro" playlist, which is just 12 different recordings of Il mio tesoro. This one is not particularly interesting unless you are me and need to have it on in the background at all times.

The other full-length one is based on my (correct) headcanon that he would be a white guy who likes jazz (value-neutral). This is, of course, influenced by Ben Bliss's jazz stuff, which is very good and everyone here should listen to it. That playlist is basically just all of the standards I like, since the lyrics of the songs are generally focused around relationships anyway and that's very him.

That being said, since the prompt is asking for a shorter list of songs anyway, I'll try to compile a different selection, but there's nothing in the prompt stopping me from just listing all of the songs in the Chet Baker Sings album...

Hallelujah, I Love Her So, Ben Bliss's cover Just to hammer home that these are very fun and good. Look at how happy everyone is! Look at how much fun they're having! This was filmed in May 2023 which means this was in between runs of the Met 2023 Don G. To specify, Ottavio is the "her" in this context.

Look for the Silver Lining, Chet Baker Chet Baker is "the ultimate sadboy", according to an acquaintance of mine to whom I no longer speak. He is right though, and Baker's flat voice with no vibrato does give me that melancholy, dignified vibe. Considering that his way of dealing with things tends to be doing nothing, this one seems appropriate. I did think about using My Funny Valentine instead of this one, but it's just not as much of a bop and anyway Ottavio would be the funny valentine, if anyone.

Wave, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Frank Sinatra's cover in English Had to add a bossa song. This one is just vibes, but I also really like that line "The fundamental loneliness goes whenever two can dream a dream together".

I'm Old Fashioned, Chet Baker No one gets to stop me from adding another Chet Baker song, and I feel like this one explains itself. Fundamentally, that's just what he is, especially in contrast to everyone else. He's the steadfast, traditional guy, and I do feel like he is confused and out of his element constantly.

So those are my four picks. They all did end up being jazz songs, but I suppose that's only natural.

Been thinking about the Otohan fight (more specifically the deaths and revivals) in the Class Swap AUs. So... (and this will be two separate posts because they're going to get a little long)

Result of the Otohan Fight in C1 Class Swap

I think the actual combat results would be much the same, since this class swap hasn't resulted in much change of everyone's combat range. Orym, Ashton, and Chetney are still melee specialists. Fearne and Laudna are still casters. Imogen is now mixed range and melee from Soulknife rogue and ranger. FCG still has their range and melee mix since bard or artificer can spell cast while still having their attachment weapons.

So Orym and Fearne would be killed in action while Laudna is on the brink of death before Imogen explodes.

Which sets things up for Ultimate Tragedy or Successful Escape.

Ultimate Tragedy:

Laudna and Fearne are the only ones who can cast Revivify at this level. And they're dead or about to die

Orym, Imogen, and FCG can all cast Revivify, if they take 9 levels in paladin, ranger, and artificer. Considering the fight happens at level 6 and they're all (potentially) multi-classed by this point, they're a long way off from having 5 out of 7 people in the party casting Revivify

Laudna flops her Death Saves. There are now three corpses that Bells Hells lacks the means to revive

Good news, bad news: Between Ashton, their echo, and Chetney, none of the bodies have to go in the hole for transport. But they've still got dead friends

The remainder of Bells Hells probably isn't going to go to Keyleth. Orym's their connection point and he's dead

Hell, they can't even cast Sending for a skyship pick-up without Fearne unless Imogen picks it up as an Exaltant perk like Ashton's Pass Without a Trace as an earth genasi.

...So I'm going to say Imogen has that "racial" Sending, and she spends her ability to use it for the day on getting everyone out

Every day on the skyship is reaching out briefly looking for help: Eshteross, Hexum, maybe a notification to Keyleth

Then Nana Morri reaches out to them around the time they get back to Jrusar

She's very Not Happy about her beloved granddaughter being killed. But, she can revive Fearne. Maybe her friends too. Depends on how generous she's feeling

So instead Bells Hells is scrambling to get to the Fey Realm in time for Raise Dead to still be applicable. Because asking a powerful hag who's kind of pissed at them for three Resurrection spells instead is probably a bad idea

Morri is definitely playing more into her horrible hag side until she's revived Fearne

There's probably still Delilah trouble with Laudna. Though more along the lines of Morri brought her back with Delilah in control, so Bells Hells has to fight her while Morri does a thing to remove/suppress Delilah

They get back to the Prime Material Plane to find the same dead Eshteross as the canon return from Whitestone

Successful Escape

Laudna does not fail her Death Saves and someone pumps some healing into her to bring her up (Imogen or FCG can heal, Ashton or Chet might have a potion, or Nat 20 Death Save)

Laudna then raises Fearne, who in turn can raise Orym

Everyone is alive to escape Bassuras. They've still got to go back to Jrusar to turn in Treshi

Attempts are made to fill in Keyleth over Sending, but 25 word messages, even composed by professional Orym, don't really cut it. The Voice of the Tempest decides an in-person meeting is necessary to discuss what the hell they've discovered

It's quite the info dump in Jrusar

After that, Bells Hells requests use of Eshteross's skyship to go to Yios to follow some leads on the bigger moon bullshit. Orc daddy provides

...and is killed the day they're set to leave. Bells Hells is grounded for a little while as they get cleared of potential murder charges. Then off to Yios

BOOK REVIEW: MURDER AT THE MARGIN

“Murder at the Margin” by Marshall Jevon Genre: Mystery, Fiction Number of Pages: 228 Pages Rating - 5/5 - Amazing Reviewed by: NS

Set on the Caribbean Island, Marshall Jevon’s Murder at The Margin typically has people pondering about the main question the story revolves around who murdered the three characters that were once prominent appearances at the start of the book. Using economics, economist Henry Spearman deduces his reasonings solely on an economic basis. Throughout the story, more characters are introduced and play a crucial role in solving this case. Some characters help Spearman, and some characters make it harder for Spearman to find the murderer. Murder at The Margin typically uses economic language on almost every page, serving as an application of economics for people who know absolutely nothing about it. 

Overall, I enjoyed this book. It was required of me to read this book for my AP Macroeconomics class, and I enjoyed every second of it. This book helped me apply some commonly used basic economics concepts such as: “Opportunity Cost”, “Trade-off”, and “Marginal Utility”. Some of these concepts take an ample amount of time to learn and understand, but Murder at The Margin is a book that all students should read if they are looking to take a college or AP Economics course. I loved the application of concepts that Jevons related to the real world, and I loved the approach used to make this story feel surreal. Ultimately, I give this book 5/5 stars, especially because it helped me understand the basics of economics best.

“Symphony No 9” by Antonin Dvorak - The introduction to this piece is quite suspenseful just like the middle of the book. The song keeps going and it is very grand, just like everyone’s reaction to the murders.

“The Pink Panther Theme” by Henry Mancini - The classic song for a mystery, I could see this theme being used in a story like this, especially to the likes of Henry Spearman. His logic of economics in every possible scenario, even if it almost doesn’t make sense, makes this song fit in more as it’s very unserious.

“Escape Room by Holmes” - This song fits the overall vibe of the first part of the story, a nice relaxing vacation spot occupied by many couples. I thought this song was perfect before the murders took place.

“Wrinkled, Crinkled, Dollar Bills”  by Johnny Cash - this song talks a bit about economics through money, but it isn’t fully relatable to Economics. In this story, money is an important factor in solving this murder.

“My Funny Valentine”  by Chet Baker - This song goes into the depths of Henry’s relationship with his wife. One thing that stood out to me was the comical fact that Spearman relates his relationship with his wife to economics, it felt very random and unserious, but it helped me learn the economics terms he used in that instance, which made the book better.

“Blank Space” by Taylor Swift - This song is how Spearman feels in the second half of the book, nearing the end. Spearman feels committed and compelled to finish this case, doing anything and everything he possibly can to finish the case.

“Royals” by Lorde - This song depicts the socioeconomic differences between each character presented in this story. Some characters are a bit more pretentious than others, making this song become an apparent theme in this story.

“This is America” by Childish Gambino - “This is America” talks about the divide between class and race, and while race is not a big factor in this story, there are many biases presented towards the workers and there is a huge class difference between each character,

“bad guy” by Billie Eilish - The instrumental of “bad guy” perfectly resembles the cover and overall theme of this story. When I listen to the song “bad guy” I can imagine the colors red and black, and I can see this song being in a detective movie. “bad guy” is the perfect song for a book like this because it goes into the labyrinth of mystery and even the lyrics can resemble the ending of the story, when Spearman found it to be obvious who the killer was.

“Summertime Sadness” by Lana Del Ray - This song can be envisioned from the perspective of Pidge Spearman, Henry’s wife. Pidge sometimes worries about Henry, especially because he has a large role in solving this case. This song perfectly describes the feelings that she gets throughout the book.

This runway by Micheal Kors collection showcases some sequin pieces, he used sequins to create eye-catching looks as the light shines onto the individual sequins.

As you can see in this runway of 16Arlingon there are many sequins looks, all these looks are fairly simple but the sequins give the looks some character. I believe that most sequin looks are meant for nighttime looks and I believe the shine elevates the look. Many of the sequin looks are paired with fur and this creates texture and contrast which is very effective.

As you can see within this collection many of the sequins are within details on the garments such as pockets, sleeves, and patterns. I love this collection as the shine of the sequins is subtle but very effective on the garments and I can see this becoming a popular trend over the next year.

As you can see within this runway there are lots of elements of 'baby' colours, there are many baby pink looks whether it's a detail such as a bow or the full garment.

Within this Zimmermann collection, there are many textures and unstructured flowy garments, and many pieces in this runway include baby pink within the patterns.

The trend of soft tailoring has been shown Eudon Choi, Stella McCartney & Rejina Pyo, this also has been seen by Molly Goddard, S.S. Daley & 16Arlington

As you can see within Euron Choi's collection there are many garments with soft tailorings, such as cropped shirts and structured trousers, these looks are still very feminine and I believe this trend will be one that we will see outside of the catwalk.

As you can see in this Stells McCartney runway there is lots of feminine tailoring to be seen, and there are many oversized blazers that we have been seeing within everyday looks. I believe the look of soft tailoring on women is very elegant and fashionable.

As you can see within this amazing S S Daley collection there are many tailored pieces that have been elevated with floral, stripes, and other patterns. The things I love about these runway looks is that they have a contrast of elegance and playfulness. I believe this is a strong runway to showcase the trend.

These pieces come from Prada, Burberry, and Emporio Armani. The baby colours have been popular within spring/summer 2023, it gives a soft look to garments and I believe we will be seeing this trend in everyday life.

This is the Prada show of 2023, as you can see there isn't much colour in this collection and more shades and neutered colours rather than bold exciting colours, which gives the garments a sense of calmness.

I wonder if all of Ginny Danburry’s scenes were cut from the final cut of Dead Poets Society because they decided not to include her alleged relationship with Neil? I don’t really mind the second decision, but cutting those scenes out entirely makes less and less sense to me.

Ginny existing in itself kind of ties a lot of things together, at least in terms of Knox/Chris/Chet’s plot. Chris references her enough times that it gives the audience the illusion that she should be important. But also Ginny’s in Midsummer. Chris probably goes to the play to support her, and Knox “We’ll sit in the back! *proceeds to sit in full view of everyone” Overstreet convinces her to go as his date. Wouldn’t it make sense if Chet was also at Midsummer to support his sister…? From there, we can either get a full Knox-Chet confrontation after the play or a shot of Chet looking upset at seeing them together, but ultimately giving up to close that arc.

But talking about deleted scenes strictly, the ones I’ve seen from the Laser Disc video on YouTube that appear to have contributed to Neil/Ginny’s development also have their worth outside of that narrative.

1. When Knox meets the Danburrys, probably the most relevant information we get is that Ginny is thinking about auditioning for A Midsummer Night’s Dream at Henley Hall. That serves as ZERO use to Knox as a character, but it is foreshadowing for the audience, so when Neil brings the flyer to Todd, it’s like “ohhh, that was mentioned before, wasn’t it?”

(also, lmaoo that deleted scene did Knox NO favours in terms of sympathising for him, because 1. dude definitely missed the mark on “fanon Romeo, lovesick archetype” and full-on went “canon Romeo, creep vibes, 2. it shows that Chris actually likes Chet/he’s not so bad)

2. The infamous dock scene, where Todd helps Neil rehearse for his role. I only dare to claim this might’ve “furthered Ginny/Neil’s plot” in the eyes of the creators because Neil starts singing her praises, calling her “incredible,” and when Todd proceeds to ask what she looks like, Neil is quickly like, “never mind, you’re not meeting her—” (which, great anderperry moment, but the writers probably intended the jealous to go the other way.) But anyway, like!! That scene just further shows the audience how close Neil and Todd were!! How much they meant to each other that Todd would help Neil with his lines and Neil could ease Todd into letting go, doing silly things like shouting lines into the lake and just prancing around all carefree. Not to mention the dock! Like, that moment right there is no doubt WHY Todd ran to the dock, screaming his name, when Neil died. That parallel is essential.

That’s just a little theory of mine, though. I understand probably none of that would’ve mattered to the average viewer, I’m just a huge film nerd and I’ve been thinking about Ms. Ginny Danburry often <3
