New research suggests that ultrasound may have potential in treating a group of harmful chemicals known as PFAS to eliminate them from contaminated groundwater. Invented nearly a century ago, per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances, also known as "forever chemicals," were once widely used to create products such as cookware, waterproof clothing and personal care items. Today, scientists understand that exposure to PFAS can cause a number of human health issues such as birth defects and cancer. But because the bonds inside these chemicals don't break down easily, they're notoriously difficult to remove from the environment. Such difficulties have led researchers at The Ohio State University to study how ultrasonic degradation, a process that uses sound to degrade substances by cleaving apart the molecules that make them up, might work against different types and concentrations of these chemicals.

everything good at the scan 😭 we watched the baby sleeping with its hand curled up against its face and then it woke up and start stretching and kicking and turning around. little seahorse is starting to look like an (alien) baby. I got to listen to the heartbeat for the first time too—I’ve only seen it before. 11 weeks. I have had basically zero symptoms all week (except for being completely insane and crying constantly of course!!) so it’s good to get further confirmation that like… for whatever reason I am lucky enough to have very few physical symptoms and so I can’t really rely on how my body feels as an indicator of whether the pregnancy is progressing or not. and even though my main symptom is “persistent feeling of total doom” maybe I can reframe that not as evidence of doom but as like, well this is my personal Sign of Pregnancy just as other people’s is persistent nausea or whatever. okay. I feel REALLY relieved and I think I can definitely make it a week and a half to the next scan. and then I hope that being out of the first trimester plus getting some help in the form of therapy will ease the worry a little.

After 4 years of actively trying to figure out what is going on with my uterus. 4 different primary care doctors. 3 different OBGYN’s. Countless internal ultrasounds.
We have an official PCOS diagnosis and plan to fix it, that does not involve birth control (because before anything else I am a migraine sufferer first).
All of this to say, if you’re having these problems just keep searching until you find a doctor who will listen to you. Don’t be afraid to question them.

It was a very stressful situation I’m sure because it wasn’t exactly an easy birth but— who can deny the comedy of Mhoirbheinn and Bal finally deciding to secretly pop out a kid after Bal was harangued about an heir, to have finally gotten to the birthing part, the kid is out and they both feel like they can finally give a sigh of relief, and then the midwife:
“There’s another one coming.”

ive been having these random spikes of anxiety in a way that is entirely somatic and not connected to mental anxiety - i.e., i get the physical symptoms (heart pounding, shaky, etc) but no actual anxiety about whatever. and i thought it was because i had to go off my anxiety meds for a week and it stuffed up my anxiety management. but im wondering if its not anxiety and an actual physical thing? like an adrenal gland problem or something (adrenal glands produce adrenaline, spikes of which can feel like how i feel). can't afford to go to the dr though, and when it started i went and got my heart checked out and it was fine so beyond that. idk lol
