As is tradition with Dracula Daily, let me give you today’s Cultural Lesson Based On Today’s Entry. Let’s talk about money.

See, if you’re thinking Dracula and the characters are handling what we see today as British money, don’t be fooled! Dracula is set in the 1890s, and they use an entirely different money system to what we use now, it just seems on the surface that it’s the same.

For context, if you didn’t know, Britain uses pounds (£) and pence (p) as the currency now, with 100p to £1. This is called decimalisation, and has been in practice since the 1970s. Before then, we were the last country in the world to still use the Roman monetary system.

In the Victorian era, there were 3 used measurements of currency: Pounds (L), Shillings (s) and pence (d), which was written in that order: l.s.d, so a sink in a shop may list the price as 1.7.2, which would be 1 pound, 7 shillings and 2 pence.

Now lets break those down a little more. There are 240 pennies to the pound, and 12 pence to the shilling. That makes 20 shillings to the pound. Most working class laborers would be using shillings as their highest coin in day-to-day living. You could get a pint of beer for a couple of pence. A pound was an incredible amount of money to your average person (maybe less so to the fancy characters of Dracula).

But I want to talk about the coins.

See, a penny was not the lowest coin in circulation. That was a farthing, which was worth ¼ (a quarter) of a penny. Then next was a half penny (or ha’penny if you prefer). Of course there was the penny. Then there was a two pence (tuppence) and a three pence (thrupence) piece. Then you had your half shilling (sixpence, pronounced more like sixpunce, with a ‘u’ rather than an ‘e’), and the shilling itself (twelve pence, remember? Also known colloquially as ‘bob’). Then you had the florin, which was 2 shillings exactly (24 pence). From there you had your half crown, which was worth 2 shillings and six pence, for a total of 30 pence (though you’d never call it that), and then a crown, which was 5 shillings. From there the next step is the half-sovereign, worth half a pound (120 pence, or 10 shillings), and finally the gold sovereign coin, worth £1, or 240 pennys, or 20 shillings.

Yes, that’s genuinely the method of money these characters are using. Some old people insist it was easier than the current system.

Here’s some more fun money facts in case they come up later!

A guinea is a pound and a shilling (1.1.0, or 252 pence), and was used to make things seem a little cheaper to wealthy buyers. It’s used from time to time in Victorian books so it’s worth knowing.

The correct way to read out prices is ‘[x] and [y]’, so say you were selling something and wanted a shilling and fivepence for it, you’d ask for “1 and 5”. This is often used for the stereotypical cost of a half a crown, so when someone in a period drama asks for “2 and 6”, what they’re asking for is 2 shillings and sixpence.

There is a fairly obscure coin that I’m not sure was in circulation at this time which was nicknamed ‘The Barmaid’s grief’, it was only used for a few years. This was worth 4 shillings and was the same shape and (very nearly) size as a crown (5 shillings). So people would buy a pint of beer, the barmaid would pick up the coin in a hurry and not realise that it wasn’t a crown, and give 4 shillings back along with change from a shilling for the beer. So people made money from buying beer. It was not a good time to be a barmaid.

Making a new post to hopefully get some work for my family and I so we have somewhere to stay for tonight, since work has been very slow lately. I'm Link, and I'm a 22-year old artist, and my family and I (me + my father and younger sibling) have been homeless since November 2021. It's a long story. TL;DR version is at the same time, while I was living with a friend and my dad + younger sibling was on the road (he drove a van at the time) he had gotten into a diabetic coma and was fired by his job. Being fired meant he or my sibling didn't exactly have a home to go back to, as our relatives on both sides refused to help. At the same time, I was going to have to find someplace else since my friends grandmother was entering the late stages of her life and they had to transfer her to the nursery, meaning there was a lot of things his family had to take care of and I couldn't be there. They allowed my father, sibling and I to stay there for two weeks to give us time to find someplace else.

While I was there, I'd been doing commissions to help their family out with food, and since it was either the streets or living under a roof; I told my friend to take us to a nearby motel since we had enough for a day, and we could figure things out from there. So since then, I've been keeping us here by doing commissions ever since. Either of us haven't been able to obtain a job yet due to how hard it is for us to get our documents to get an id (we dont have a car at the moment, and saving money for the room and food is already tough as is), but recently we think we might be able to get my father's ID so he can work, were waiting on his lung condition to recover fully and get money saved up for the documents and all that before we apply to get them. So hope isn't fully lost for us, we just need to take care of some things for a while longer until then.

Recently, things have gotten worse again. We were paying weekly thanks to the help from my followers and commissions I was getting, but when we weren't able to pay for another, we went back to paying daily again. And immediately we were set back. For the past few days, we haven't been able to pay for one let alone food. We were able to pay most of it to at least stay here, thanks to the kindness of the staff, but they called us earlier to tell us if we couldn't pay everything tonight, then we'd have to leave. We owe 120 by 11pm tonight, and I thought maybe making a new post might help us since posting on my other socials hasn't done much for us lately.

I SHIFTED TO HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA

before the shift:

i watched hotel transylvania 4 with my cousin and my mind instantly went “i love these movies i really gotta shift there, it would be so cool” and i went to sleep making scenarios of me in that reality without actually trying or putting effort (mind that i had a script for that reality made like a year ago but i forgot about that so i just went into the shift while basically being blindfolded lol) but i mean, it worked.

the shift:

i didn’t realise i shifted till like one hour later, i woke up in my supposedly room and the walls were a darker shade with bricks/stones, as i said i didn’t notice the change because it was just normal to be there so i just went to change in some clothes and get ready to go downstairs. then i went to the dining hall and had breakfast with a friend called Victor (he’s not in the movies) and my sister Mavis (she’s my twin sister actually, we look a lot like each other but the difference is that she’s a girl with black hair and i’m a boy with white hair lol). after that i went back to my room and did my daily tarot reading, and when i was reading my cards that’s when i realised i had shifted (tarot cards are not like in this reality, they tell you way more and are like magical if you’re a witch).

some facts about that reality:

my name was Aineías Dracula and i was a half vampire half witch, son of Count Dracula and Martha Dracula (she was half witch too)

it was the 18th november 1840 when i shifted there so two days before my birthday (i apparently had to become 120 years old)

for some reason the hotel was in italy (where i live in cr)

i was friends with everyone in the hotel because, contrary to cr, i made my presence very seen and had good social skills. i had a best friend called Victor and he was the son of Frankenstein, he was around my age and he was very tall.

the young man i met:

the night of my birthday, the 20th, i sneaked out and went to a little village some kilometres away from the hotel, and there i met a boy. i was trying to fit in with the few humans that were there, even if i was lowkey scared but mostly excited, and i stumbled across this goldsmith shop. it had such amazing pieces of jewellery so i was with my palm all over the glass trying to get a closer look at a ruby necklace. but then i heard a gentle low voice telling me to step away from the glass and when i look over the dispay window i see this young man looking at me, so i excused myself but he asked something like if i was interested in any of the pieces and stood up to come closer to me.

i was unsure whether to stay there as my dad would’ve killed me if he found out, but i felt adrenaline at that moment and tbh the boy looked nice and genuine so i just stayed still and nodded, so he started showing me different necklaces with some beautiful stones. i was really interested in the ruby one but then i remembered i didn’t have anything to pay with, so i was about to leave when he asked if i wasn’t from there, and then we just started conversating.

he was named Ilya and he was a human of course, he told me he was half russian and had to migrate because of some illness infestation and his dad was italian so they moved here. he was around 24 years old and he had jet black long hair, with very dark eyes.

after some time i had to go back and as i was going he told me he could not give me the nacklace for free even if it was my birthday lol but instead i could decide for a small stone, but i didn’t really knew which one to choose so when i just let him decide he gave me a small malachite telling me it was my birthstone and it was his favourite when he was back in russia. then we said goodbye and that was it.

008: Space Michael Recording Location: Report 4: After clearing the report Profile: A Super Star that rocked the galaxy, a Super Dancer that transcended space and time. At everyone’s request, he’s now Space Channel 5 Station Chief, filling the once vacant seat (his predecessor stepped down after being involved in a scandal). He watches over Ulala and her crew. He works hard, day and night, to bring smiles and happiness to all of those in the galaxy. The Song Energy created by his singing is enough to bring tears to even those with the coldest of hearts. He mainly gives Ulala technical support. Fuse recruited him from Channel 66 to be Channel 5’s Technical Development Chief without any regard to the other channel. He’s unusually modest and polite. 014: Padding Recording Location: World 2, Report 2: After clearing the report Profile: A comedienne who recently added an impersonation of Pudding to her act. She’s 48 years old. She stars in singing and other such shows at the Space Health Center. She dominated Channel 5's 42nd Entertainment Awards. Her talents are vast, she can even do comedy skits in sign language. She has lots of fans. Note:

She is currently on a relaxation tour of the open-air shopping mall. She adores pink cherry pies. Her goal is to snag a tenant that wants to open a delish western-style pastry shop. 021: Mr. Dreadlocks Recording Location: Report 1: Space Symphony · Lounge B Profile: An instructor at the Cosmic Music Academy. Popular with students, but considered somewhat problematic by the school president. On his days off, while doing laundry and so on, he watches the clouds drift by on the rooftop while playing relaxing music. Note, Secret Inputs: Information for two secret inputs in Report 1 (see 111).

i'm sure you've probably been asked this before but i'm new here and very curious: how did you come into ownership of your house and how are you paying for it? i recently moved in with my boyfriend and the housing situation is... dismal. and we're eventually moving into another house with a friend but we barely make enough money combined to support ourselves. i'm just curious as to what it takes to be content because you are living in such a dream house to me and i would love to achieve that one day. ty and have a great day!

I'm not going to pretend that my homeownership is some kind of one-man bootstraps success story; it's not. I got lucky in a lot of ways. It's a combination of stuff.

I haven't owned my house for long--it'll be two years this August. When I started saving for a house, I was lucky enough to be able to live with family and basically eliminate the majority of my living expenses, which allowed me to save a much higher percentage of my salary than I would otherwise have been able to save. I was driving an hour and a half for my daily commute, but it was worth it to not be paying rent. Having a bunch of roommates prior to that also helped. I have almost no debt--I did law school on 100% scholarship, and picked a cheap undergrad university. (This actually backfired--my credit score simply did not exist until waaaay later in my life than is recommended if you want a mortgage. I struggled to find a lender that would work with me even though I was stably employed and had a cash down payment ready.)

I also bought a home in a non-urban area; I live in a fairly small town. My house is also not very expensive; it was between $150-$200K when I bought it. That's due, in part, to the location (small town), the tiny lot (less than a quarter acre), the age (120+ years), and the need for a lot of superficial updates and repairs. It's structurally sound for the most part, but it's dated.

I'm a lawyer. It's easy to miss, since I post like an idiot, but I am regularly reminded that sometimes even morons pass the Bar. I don't make the kind of crazy money most people assume lawyers make, but for a single-person household I'm okay. I was able to make a fairly sizeable down payment--more than was strictly necessary, actually--so my monthly mortgage is actually less than $1k, which is still mindboggling to me. It's good, because this house DOES need work.

But with all that said, it still wasn't easy. I got my first job when I was a freshman in high school and I have been continuously employed since then. Between the ages of 18-28 there was never a time that I held less than two jobs; most of the time I had three, and it...sucked. It was fun, a lot of the time, but mostly that kind of unpredictable schedule is just exhausting at a subconscious level. I remember the week before the Bar, still working two jobs, being in the library at 3 am, my brain melting out my ears, and cruising Zillow listings for bombed-out houses in Detroit being sold for pennies on the dollar, thinking that if nothing else, I could buy one of those and make it work one repair at a time. I went to law school because I wanted to be able to buy my own house. I moved out of the city so I could buy my own house. I shaped a lot of my life around the need and want to have my own space. I have spent years sitting up late at night and looking at real estate listings I couldn't dream of affording.

I don't know if that helps. I guess the only advice I could give is that if homeownership is a big priority for you, maybe look for areas where real estate is affordable(ish; I know what it's like these days) and see what it would take for you to be able to live there. A lot of the time, if there's good bones to work with, the rest is just what you make of it.

I finally finished both mcl new gen episodes (kind of long post about my opinions and feelings)

Tbh I wasn't so sad about the old mcl coming to an end because I think when armin was removed back in hsl it just prepared me for whatever could come next LMAO. I am a big fan of Jason and Amanda, the rest of the Li's... are there I guess ! I think the new point system is kind of weird and overcomplicated for no reason, I really don't like the fact that we have to pay AP's for dialogue and clothes because I can either buy more clothing/recolors and be satisfied with how my character looks or save up for the new episodes... and the fact that you can't buy AP with money, only the blue hearts that can be traded for AP? (not to mention that the prices went up comparing to go mcl at least in my country) But you also need the blue hearts for those special moment with LI's every ep... like idk its sad that there is a part of content you can miss out because you simply don't want to spend money every time an ep is here lol. The missions (which is basically the eldarya expeditions) are fine since we get clothes for that. The calendar is a nice touch up because it's something new and refreshing. But the paid part and vip subscription and the clothes offers in the shop are the next thing that don't seat well with me.... Like we could get a little more for that price... especially since it rounds up to 120 dollars per year... And the fact that all the cute outfits are locked behind a daily shop rotation that have to use real money on... Oh and the last on the more negative side why does our uncle only give stuff for our fuckass goose.... We love you Taki but it's not that serious we could get like a t-shirt... or smth...

On the positives, I really like the fact that our Candy can have a personality now! Like finally we aren't a blank page that adjusts to the people we talk to and we can have opinions AND THEY MATTER! Also the clothes are much cuter, like finally someone thought - yes u can be an adult and have fun clothing and not dress boring! We love that! And I giggled to myself a little when I read why Candy switched her job lol. Reminder me of Eric's arc Eric we love you forever idc about what other said about your route.

At the end of the day I think I will try the vip for one month just to see is it really like worth it for someone who is going to be rather active on this game. Idk im excited for the plot tbh and especially how much it changes depending on the fact if we romance the Devenementiel LI's or Jason.

Been playing Love and Deepspace for the past few days and here's my take on this.....

Content warning though, it's gonna be a long post! And this is just coming from someone who only played the game a few days ago so this is just my first impression!

Let me just say this, algorithm...

It's your fault for making me download the game.

You knew I like hot attractive fictional men. You knew I like bratty boyfailures. You knew I like older, stoic yet kind men. You knew I like mysterious softboys.

YOU KNEW.

So you bombarded me with L&DS content on my socials, my home, my walls, and even my grass!!! I won't forgive you for dragging me into another gacha hole, especially when you knew that I promise myself to never spend a dime on any of these games!!! (I'm an f2p player)

Anyways-- Here's my take on this game as a newbie.

The VAs and character designs?

Amazing. I love the boys (including Caleb) and the MC customisation is really detailed. Though, I wish we could have short hair MC permanently but I'm glad we get to experience it on photoshoots. I do wish we get to explore more of the boys on the main plot cause it feels a bit underwhelming. Then again I just finished chapter 3 so we'll see!

I love the dates and the playtime mode since it gives us time to get closer to the boys and understand more about their past and their characteristics. (I'm convinced the claw machine gacha is so random cause one day Xavier won a lot and the next it was Zayne)

I will say tho for now I feel like Rafayel is more developed and interesting compared to the other two. I like Zayne in terms of how much he really cares about his patients and how he was closer to MC back then, but I wish we get more of him soon. For Xavier he's such a mystique as well and I really like him too! Overall, I wish we get more events dedicated to Zayne and Xavier.

The fluidity of the animation and graphics?

Really good considering that I'm playing it on mobile, I set it to medium and its runs pretty smoothly without any low pixelated quality. I love how detailed the backgrounds and designs are, and I really love some of the cinematic shots the developers added during the date scenes. I can't wait to pull for more dates for the characters!

Combat wise?

It's fine for now ,and I really appreciate the proceed 10x button when farming for materuals considering that I'm more of a casual player rather than a combat one.

Though I'm still frustrated that one of the requirements of getting 3 stars for extra diamonds would be to win the combat within 90 secs and I'm like-- boy if that dragon didn't have that short animation I would've gotten it faster!!! If it had been 120 secs I would have gotten it easier... I know that the whole combat system will get a bit complicated the more you ascend your hunter level so I'll just farm for materials just to prepare the inevitable.

Also I wish there were more ways to gain more exps for your hunter level instead of doing the daily tasks. Imagine you are about to head to the next chapter get some main content and yet you can't bc your hunter level is just two level away so you have to wait for the next day...

The plot?

I would say its okay for now since I'm about to head to chapter 4 and even though I finished chapter 3 it still feels like the beginning. The worldbuilding is really interesting but I'm still a bit confused on some aspects of the story. Overall, I can't wait to finally see Caleb on screen (I already saw him on Youtube and I wish he's playable he's so pretty sksksksks)

Edit: I just finished chapter 4.... what in the sweet metaflux world... CALEEEBBBBBB!!!!!

So yeah this is my impression on the game as someone who only joined after a few days! I hope to see more contents for the boys and I can't wait for more chapters (I spoiled myself at chapter 4 and my god... I want Caleb to be playable plzzzzz)

I'm aware that as a newbie my opinions are probably flawed considering that it's barely even a week since I joined, I would love to hear some advices from you guys just so I can prepare myself in terms of combat and to understand more about the characters if I missed anything about them!

If Alina had actually passed the tests he'd given her, how do you think Aleksander would have told her the truth? When?

This is a good question! Addressing the whole truth of his identity, past and motives would have been inevitable considering his larger aspirations for him and Alina to become immortal companions, so what strategies would he employ to ensure that the big reveal goes as smoothly as possible?

First, we need to identify what exactly he’s going to tell her. I believe the whole truth is something that he’d tell her in two parts.

1. The truth about his motives with the shadow fold as well as the imminent coup d’état.

2. The truth about his immortality and him being the Black Heretic.

Both of these truths are alike in the sense that they pertain to the essence Aleksander’s character, but they differ in urgency. Informing Alina of the coup would be the most urgent given that the pressure to destroy the shadow fold increased greatly after Alina was discovered. In order for the plan to proceed, Alina should ideally know what Aleksander’s true motives are before they move forward with an enormous feat of Grisha power.

However, telling Alina the second truth would be akin to him putting his life in her hands. As such, his approach to telling her the truth would most likely require more time and caution. I can only imagine how that conversation might go for the two of them.

So what if Alina did pass the tests?

Even if she passed his tests initially, I imagine that Aleksander would still approach the issue with a high degree of caution. Their conversation on the journey to the Little Palace was a sort of placement test that let him subtly grade her, that is why I think he would conduct more tests incrementally to track her progress and milestones until she fully passed. But, if she had passed his initial test, I believe that Aleksander would have been far bolder with his hints and taken an approach that might allow Alina to draw her own conclusions.

For example, after Alina’s introduction to the King and Queen, Aleksander tests the waters by describing the King as a child. It’s an obvious slight at the King’s frivolous and incompetent ways that would’ve been understood by Alina after seeing his childish attitude firsthand. What if, instead of gasping and appearing visibly shocked, Alina responded in an affirmative manner? Perhaps agreeing with Aleksander or making a jab of her own? This might then lead into a conversation about the King’s failure as a ruler and allude to Aleksander’s future plans while also allowing Alina to ease into the subject.

We see the beginnings of an incremental approach to ease Alina into the world of Grisha. Getting her acquainted with her new home, giving her a friendly companion (Genya), and placing her among the rest of the Little Palace Grisha for daily events such as mealtimes and training. This stage is crucial to gaining Alina’s support and allegiance due to her upbringing as a non-Grisha as well as her low self esteem. Given that Alina’s introduction to the world of Grisha was both frightening and shocking, throwing her into the deep end right away would only cause her to flail and struggle, ultimately risking the entire movement in the process. So, she needs to spend a bit of time on the edge of the water, going from dipping her toes in to wading into the shallow end.

My estimate is that if all went according to plan (meaning that Baghra never meddled) then Aleksander would obtain the stag with Alina and take a number of months or even a year or two to train and acclimate to such a powerful amplifier. During this time, he would level with her about the true purpose of the fold and what her role would be in the movement for Grisha liberation.

R/relationshipadvice : How do I (500M), tell my potential girlfriend/life partner (20F) that I’m not actually 120 and that I’m actually an immortal revolutionary wizard who forever changed the geography and politics of our country?

As for the biggest truth of all, I often wonder how long it would take Aleksander to tell Alina the full truth about who he is. The idea of telling her most likely intimidates him into playing it safe and because of that I think it might take a number of years before he would be ready. However, Alina is not an idiot and has the power to observe things. The benefit of this is that it would allow her to gather information and draw her own conclusions as she gets closer to the truth. Aleksander is an understandably guarded person, but he will still leave breadcrumbs for Alina to follow and pick up on. But if I had to say, I’d think that he might wait for Alina to ask him outright (after a time) and then either bare his souls or let Alina’s questions reveal the truth throughout a long conversation.

really wish when people are talking about characterization for vrains that they didn't interchangeably refer to the sub and dub characters as the same people or events (because most times they literally AREN'T because it's that drastic)

but then i think about how it's kind of annoying to me how much, even the sub people, misunderstand the complexities of the personality and disposition of people like Yusaku anyway even if we watched the same thing

like calling him angry or mean when he literally shows how much he cares about others and finding the truth for his own sake and theirs. he gets visibly upset when others are involved and hurt because of his path of revenge. he doesn't want to involve anyone. yes his patience is thin sometimes, but he's not mean at all?

how are you people just saying things like it's true... and then tagging it? why

so here i am wishing once again people did not call Yusaku an angry or uncaring person. he's traumatized and that trauma has caused him to be disconnected from the here and now. he's numb to daily events. he admitted himself that he tried to move on and forget about the incident, but that horrible experience was so deeply ingrained into his flesh and blood that he couldn't forget it. so, he didn't take care of himself and distanced from others. he didn't sleep well and had persistent nightmares about the electrocution, starvation, and loneliness

one of the few things he did have was waking up to the vocal reminder to find 3 reasons to keep on trying. that's just about all he had to think about and all that drove him before he decided to finally fight back and fight for justice for himself and others. to save the friend that saved him from despair. before that, he was just someone going through the motions of living, but not actually living.

though, even if he was manipulated into becoming Playmaker, he didn't place any blame on the circumstances and he still showed that he cares about the well-being of others. the change that occurs for him in relation (to well, his relationships) over 120 episodes is not night and day, but it doesn't need to be. i think it's a realistic example of taking baby steps in recovery (as well as taking steps backwards, too)... he has so many people he relies on and who rely on him and see friendship with him, thanks to that path.

he didn't want to be a hero, but he couldn't afford to lose. someone like him who has lost so much surely didn't deserve to have one of the most important individuals in his life ripped away. he regressed in his recovery by cutting contact with everyone over it to deal with the loss and keep searching by himself.

the story is a tragedy for him... but, equally it is a story about hope. you have to keep reaching out to connect even when you are tormented by loss. keep going and don't give up hope for the light of the future.

so, seeing people boil him down into someone who is just pissed off or doesn't care about others or has no patience for them when he isn't that kind of person at all just makes me feel mad (because i care way too much about this guy, lol)

by all means i know i'm not always 100% right about everything i feel, but sometimes it just feels like people don't get it at all and it's genuinely jarring to me to see people miss the point about him

Day 125 of missing #AkkAyan and I’m going to get four separate parts out of this one scene so buckle in.

We all already know that Ayan knows exactly how to trick Akk. But as I’ve said before it’s interesting to consider it as Akk allowing himself to be tricked. By ‘trick’ I refer to the little games Ayan plays to get affection from Akk. I’m hesitant to call it manipulation even if it is because Akk is in a way consenting to this manipulation as it allows him to show honesty instead of having to say it. Something we know he struggles with. I don’t at all want to label their relationship as one of manipulation. I see it more as understanding each other to the level where Ayan is exchanging the teasing words that allow Akk to take a passive role (see day 123 and 120) for acts from Akk such as eating dinner together or kisses in order to get more comfortable with them overall. To a point where these exchanges aren’t needed or can grow to become a form of playfulness.

Ayan’s first attempt to get Akk to kiss his cheek very nearly works judging by the stunned and mesmerised look on Akk’s face and the fifteen straight seconds it took him to answer the question. This is when Ayan pulls out the tactic. Slightly different then what’s talked about above and on day 120 this trick of Ayan’s goes for Akk’s honour.

I could talk for longer about the politics behind the translation of the word ‘wife’ but there are many people who have done it far better than I could already so go read their stuff about it.

Anyway Ayan calls Akk his ‘wife’ and the anger that lights up in Akk’s eyes is quite funny. And quite cute. Ayan gives him an option when before his only choice to in a way retain his honour/masculinity was by not giving Ayan a kiss as the things he were concerned about were his position as head prefect and loyalty to the school (and also a bit of his honour as a man who shouldn’t like another man- internalised homophobia yay). Ayan gives him the opportunity to focus on another position he has. The one as Ayan’s boyfriend. The one where the honour comes from being, ‘the only one who kisses.’ And suddenly this task is so much easier for Akk. He’s not thinking about being head prefect he’s thinking about #winning at relationships.

You could go down the path of saying it’s sad this works on Akk. Him doing things for honour is part of why he got into this mess in the first place. But I chose to think Akk is smarter than that. As said before these teases are an exchange. It’s not like he actually didn’t want to kiss Ayan. More like the only way he can reconcile placing his prefect honour aside for a moment is picking up something to take its place- that being boyfriend honour. Which Ayan happily pushes him towards.

Finally Akk gives in and gives Ayan the longest cheek kiss he could possibly pretend to give as if forced to. He really could have given Ayan a tiny peck or the barest touch with his lips but no we all saw your nose get squished there Akk. Ayan felt it too judging by his smile that could light up the whole earth afterwards.

I’ll continue on with this scene tomorrow hopefully but things have been getting busy lately I’ll try keep making these daily but who knows. All i know is that I miss Akk and Ayan. More and more every day.

The Silent Academy for Witches held knowledge on every conceivable topic, even one as taboo as demonology. Granted, most of it was restricted, and it was all heavily biased against anything from outside the Silent Peaks, but if there was something I could honestly say I'd benefitted from during my stay in the Academy, it was the massive reservoir of knowledge that was the Library.

"When soulspace entities first crossed through the rifts, humanity encountered The Dealmaker. Legends say that as a Demon of Empathy, they consider harming one whom they've bonded with to be harming themself, and as a result, will never renege on a deal if they have the option." —Musings on Primitive Mythology, Kanne, 2 AR.

The classes that I'd taken on how to properly research something—say, the name of a demon—had come in handy, too. With Lucet as my research partner checking out books for me, I made index cards and mind mazes and all the lovely organizational techniques Witch Aimes had drilled into me. Bit by bit, like pulling the spines of a star-cactus from bleeding palms, I extracted the drops of restricted knowledge that I was able to access on the entity known as Odin. A demon. A dealmaker. A person of their word, no matter how terrible that word was.

"Despite a century of accumulated empathic experience, Odin is not truly human. Their approximation of the humanoid mind is flawed, at best, and what they truly desire is often difficult to discern." Are Demons Truly Alive?, Daiol Utennt, 80 AR.

The texts I had access to were frustratingly vague, and sometimes I went days without finding anything useful. But I had to know. I had to know what The Dealmaker wanted with me when he'd showed up in my dreams.

I had to know what would happen now that I'd refused.

"The Dealmaker has gathered a cult following among mortals in the years since the rifts began. Their pattern is familiar and simple: they target those shunned by society and offer them something they cannot get anywhere else." The Case for Minority Re-Education, Falo Chentrenne, 120 AR.

I snapped the book shut and stood, stretching. It had been weeks since my research project had begun, slogging through texts that were half-academic, half-propaganda. My back still ached and I had to visit the nurse twice daily, but school at the Silent Academy for Witches was on midyear break. I had no pressing obligations at the moment.

So it was time to pay a visit to an old friend.

Lucet was trying not to make Iola any angrier than he already was, so she was staying in the dorms—and even if I didn't agree with her, I sure as hell wasn't going to force her to change her mind. I didn't exactly have any other friends in the Academy, so after a quick dunk in the showers, I wrapped myself up to protect against the snow and left the Academy grounds alone.

Jiaola's house wasn't far. The old witch had built it right smack in the center of the Silent City. It was as if he and his husband were giving a massive "fuck you, we exist and we are here" to the Silent Parliament every day they continued outliving the government that had wanted them "re-educated."

There was a reason I liked Jiaola.

Small animals turned their heads as I passed, but I ignored them. I was on break; the Academy had no hold over me. They could stalk me all they wanted through the eyes of crows and blink-kittens. They might disapprove of me, but they already did.

I knocked on Jiaola's firm, old door—real wood, imported from the Redlands—and waited as Jiaola called "Coming!" A moment later, the old witch's wrinkled but unbroken smile greeted me as he opened the door.

"Cienne!" Jiaola's eyes twinkled merrily. "Come in, come in! Here to beat me at Kingmaker again?"

As much as I wanted to continue our board-game tournament, I had more pressing matters to work out. I shook my head. "Not this time, old man. We should take this inside."

Jiaola's gaze sharpened, and he reflexively swept the street with both eyes and soul. "Understood. Do you want to use the safe room, or...?"

I shook my head. "No use burning all those enchants. We can just talk in the living room."

Jiaola nodded and shuffled aside, letting me in before shutting the door. "What can an old bat like me help you with?"

I bit my lip, then leaned in and whispered, "Have you ever been contacted by a demon called Odin?"

Jiaola froze.

Then he let out a weary sigh. "So they've reached out to you as well?"

I nodded. "They wanted to use me as... some kind of champion? They promised to take me away from the Academy, at the very least." Which I wouldn't mind in and of itself, to be honest—I stayed at the Academy because I had nowhere else to go if I wanted to get food and shelter. "And from what I've heard, they're good for their word."

"They are," Jiaola said, eyes focusing on something I couldn't see. "I haven't thought about Odin in years, but... yes. The Dealmaker gave me what I wished for."

I didn't ask what Jiaola had been given. The old man would tell me if it was relevant.

"So if the Dealmaker's taking you out of the Academy..." Jiaola raised an eyebrow. "Is this the last time we'll see each other?"

I shook my head. "I turned their offer down."

Jiaola did a double-take. "You what?"

I did not like that reaction. "Yeah, actually, that's what I came here to ask you. I couldn't find anything in the library on what happens when Odin gets refused—"

"Cienne—argh!" For the first time since I'd met the witch, he seemed genuinely afraid. "You don't get it. The Dealmaker upholds their end of the offers they make, always, no exceptions. Even when the person in question doesn't accept the deal."

Oh.

Oh, fuck.

Jiaola grabbed my arm, steel in his eyes. "Get yourself into the safe room. I'll notify the city guard. If Odin said they were taking you out of the Academy, then Odin's coming to take you out of the Academy."

He paused as he reached the door, then turned around, his gaze intense as it met mine.

"The Dealmaker is coming for you, Cienne. Stay strong."

And with that, the old witch turned to the street and sounded the alarm.

Unveiling Rider Validation and Shop Commissions

Hello Philippines and Hello Entrepreneurial World! It's been a month since I uploaded my second blog. I hope you did miss me because I'm here back at it again to update you about our start up business proposal. Our goal for this validation is to ensure that our key partners would agree on our commission percentage for our start up business and to be able to validate our other key partner which is the motorcycle riders. My team propose 10% commission of every order to the shop owners and riders, and the commission will be given weekly. The reason for this is that, since we are still a start up business, we would ensure that our riders' salary will be efficient. We also propose that the quota should at least be 10 orders per day.

During our validation, we went back to the shops we validated last February to validate if they would agree on the 10% commission for every order that our business will be made. The owner of Sungkab a karenderia, stated that they would give 5-10% commission depending on how many and the price of the order with a minimum of 120 pesos per order. On the other hand, the owner of Kobi Kopi agreed on the 10% commission per order.

We also interviewed motorcycle riders which is one of our key partners. We asked if a commission-based business will emerge inside the CMU would they apply if the commission will be 10% per order, 5 days a week, and a 10 order quota per day. The riders agreed on the commission and asked us if what will happen if they will exceed the quota, we stated that they will earn more if the had more deliveries than the quota. We also proposed that aside from the commission, they will also be given a percentage of the shipping fee. They also suggested that we would call them if there will be an order so that they can also sideline as a habal-habal rider which we agreed upon.

INSIGHTS:

My team successfully achieved our goal for this validation which proposing 10% commission on our key partners. By giving a quota ensures that the shop owners will not lose profit despite the commission, rather they will earn more and for the riders, they will also earn if they reach or exceed the daily quota.

For our team decision, we would work on our communication process of our business so that it will be more convenient to us, our riders, and our dear customers.

How to Predict Your Rewards: OMSWD

I made one for Mammon’s birthday but I figured it was high time I get back to telling people how to utilize their time/resources in Obey Me to the best of their abilities.

Events

Events happen practically every 2 weeks. We have an official story event that lasts 11 days and then we have Otaku bootcamp where there’s no story but we can grind for Devil Tree rewards in Normal / Hard mode

But often times people panic and don’t know how far they can make it in an event with their AP, DP and D-Energy stockpile. So let me show you how I do it.

How to Predict

When you look at an event and click the book, it will tell you how many stars are available on that page.

Each Music Note has 3 stars available to gain when you do a battle. Do it well enough and you’ll get all 3 on the first go.

1. Take the number of stars and divide it by 3 (as you can get 3 stars per 1 music note) that will tell you how many music notes are on the page.

39 / 3 = 13 music notes. (note: this also means there are 39 individual battles on that page!)

39 + 39 +5* = 83 total battles a day.

Usually there are 13 battles on the first page and sometimes more on the second--although it’s been more often than not, lately, 13 on each page. Always double check by clicking the book though!

2. Add the total number of battles together for daily number of battles available. *Don’t forget to add the 5 free battles you get for watching ads, once the 3 battles have been used. I recommend saving those extra battles for a battle that will give Key rewards.

4. Now that you know how much that’ll get you each day, figure up how many days you have left in the event. Usually events last about 11 days (unless they are birthday events.)

3. Now take the total battles and find out how much of the event specific item you’ll get. Most of the time, the base rate is 120 per battle. But if you get lucky with your free pull or extra pulls from Nightmare, you’ll get cheat cards that will increase (usually I believe its a +6 per cheat card you have)

83 * 120 = 9,960 per day.

9,960 * 11 = 109,560 total

5. Events usually have 5 pages worth of rewards, with the best being reserved for about the end of page 3. You can look and see where you fall on the rewards ladder using these methods with some leeway due to cheat cards. From here you can also go further and calculate how much AP you need to clear a days worth of battles and go on from there to figure out DP or D-Energy that needs to be used.

6. To find out your AP needs, you must know that events always use up 8AP per battle, so 83 battles a day at 8AP means 664AP a day. I’m level 210 and have been capped out at 100 for a long time, I dont think you can have more than that unless you start collecting AP while already full.

Ap refills at 1 ap per 5 minutes, so lets just say you’re capped out at 100. that would be 8.3 hours to refill totally once its used up.

100ap * 5 min = 500 mins.

500 / 60 min in an hour = 8.3 hours

You have multipule ways of gaining AP throughout the day:

Fridge Mission (60) (30 at 2 different times)

Daily To Do (30) *send ap, 3 akuber orders, surprise guest

Friends List (50 if all your friends send you some back!)

Surprise Guest Gift (20)

Ad Videos (50 *10 ap per video)

thats 210 free energy just waiting to be collected on top of whatever you’re capped out at. Let’s sayits 100 again, that 310 energy a day if you’re using it all up every single day.

Let’s say now that you hold onto that free energy to save up for the next event, thats 210 free energy every day that you’re not losing. Let’s say Otaku Bootcamp lasts 7 days, thats 210 * 7 = 1,470AP saved up.

((You also have an option to buy 200AP for 10 DP the first time you run out of AP during the day.))

7. We can see from the 2022 Steampunk Event page that 109,560 will get you to the 3rd reward on page 2 if you hit every single battle (including the 5 ad battles) for the 11 days of the event. Which means it’s impossible to clear page 3 without using DP or buying DP to refill battles and AP.

I showed you how to figure out your AP and how to get all the free AP every single day, now lets talk D-Energy.

D-Energy gives you 3 battles per 1 can used, so if you have 1 can you can get 3 battles, but if you have 5 you get 15 battles.

2,500 - 913 = 1,587 battles still needed

Now, if we wanted to clear page 3, we would need 300,000 steam books.

300,000 divided by 120 = 2,500 battles.

of that, we would clear:

83 free battles a day * 11 day event = 913 battles

1,587 battles / 3 given per d-energy = 529 D-energy needed

* 1,587 battles * 8AP = 12,696AP needed

You can buy AP and Battles for DP but its more expensive.

you see how this is rigged to make you pay a TON of money all at once?

8. Lets say you just HAVE to have this gd Lucifer UR card, that would mean (if you have 0 d-energy) that would mean using DP.

5 dp = 3 battles

529 refills needed * 5ap = 2,645 DP total

2,645 / 1,200 (the most you can buy in Akuzon, at $79.99 USD = 2.2, to clear it, you’d need 3.

$79.99 * 3 = $239.97

And none of that is counting up how much AP you’d need to clear those other 529 battles.

9. you get 10 ap per 1 DP used

1,587 battles * 8ap per battle = 12,696

12, 696 ap needed / 10ap given = 1,269.6 DP neeed to be spent.

That’s another 2 sets of $79.99 for a grand total of: $399.95

*! Now obviously none of this takes into account the VIP stats because they get extra AP, DP and so on for the 9.99 a month, but i haven’t been VIP in so long--I’ve forgotten everything--so I can’t account for it. If someone else can--please do add to this with the VIP stats so people can see their options for that route as well.

IN CONCLUCSION

You’d have to spend around $400 if not more to be able to clear an event’s page 3 when it drops if you’re spending money and it’s impossible to clear more than page 1 without ditching events either to come or before. With the way Obey Me goes back to back, they’re COUNTING on you feeling desperate enough to drop that much on a gacha card game with pretty boys.

Its absolutely your money to spend and without people spending money on the game, we wouldn’t have things like the merch or the anime, but tricking people into the gambling aspect just doesnt sit right for me. So, although I despise math with every fibre of my being, I sat down and figured this up the best way I could so you didn’t have to.

If you want to know how to make the most of your time outside of events, I have a guide for leveling cards that’ll help you find where you’re lacking and you can shoot up through the story without having to spend irl money on glow sticks (you’ll still have to buy glowsticks when you get close to the end, I have a stack of level 100, specal skill level 1 UR cards and even THOSE aren’t enough to pull me through without rainbow glowsticks--just a warning!--but you’ll be able to grind during events and bootcamp so that you can save some of those rainbows for later on when its really needed.)
