Death is in the Details - Our Flag Means Death (Post Season 1 fic) Part 4
Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 5, Part 6
Summary: The crew of the Revenge land in Nassau. Ed and Jim pay Spanish Jackie a visit.
(Spoilers of you haven’t watched the full season)
Author's Note: A bit shorter than I had hoped, but I wanted to get it posted. And I know of a number of fics that use similar plot elements, including going to Spanish Jackie's. But where better for them to find info and get to deliver some fun threats? Enjoy!
wordcount: 700+
Warnings: Mentions of violence, threats, anger, resentment, doubt and depression. Typical Pirate stuff.
Chapter 4: Less dead than you'd think
Ed had to call on as much willpower as he led the crew of the Revenge to land under the guise of a supply run. He had given Izzy Hands enough to hopefully keep him busy and out of Ed's way. He made his way to Spanish Jackie's with Jim and sent Frenchie off to gather what he could from elsewhere among the horde of pirates.
"You ruthless bastards better have a good reason to be bothering me," Spanish Jackie stated before grinning and welcoming them. She gestured to the old man behind the bar for drinks for them all and told them to sit. "What do you need this time? You lot always need something."
"We'll make it worth your time," Ed stated, earning a raised brow from the owner of the establishment.
"You better. Jim here knows I don't like my time wasted."
"Ours either," Ed agreed.
"Then out with it, Blackbeard."
"We are looking for information on Stede Bonnet."
"He is still dead like I told them last time," Jackie stated.
"Less dead than you'd think," Ed said. Jim nodded.
"And how do you know that?" She asked.
"I talked to his wife," Ed admitted. "Daughter too. It would be a bit strange, even for that family, to send messages and more to a deadman." Ed held up the folded drawing of the leopard to empathize his point. She didn't need to know what exactly it was. "And would seem odd for the not so widowed Bonnet to tell me to find him if she knew he was buried under the stone so near her home."
"And you believe this?" Jackie asked Jim.
"He lives to annoy us all," Jim said as they took a drink. "Unfortunate for us, the Gentleman Pirate lives, and this asshole wants to find him."
"Remind him he isn't welcome here," Jackie stated.
"And I remind you that we wouldn't be looking for him if you and my first mate hadn't sold us out. I made Izzy eat his own toe for that," Ed said as he set his knife on the table. "Cut it off with this very knife. Do not mistake my inquiry as forgiveness."
"Alright now, no need for all that. It was just business," Jackie played it off as if the veiled threat hadn't been directed at her, but the increased tension in the air and the stiffer set to her shoulders spoke volumes. Spanish Jackie knew that if Blackbeard and Jim both wanted her dead she wouldn't have seen it coming. They needed help, and that made her useful.
"We will see what word is around town," Jackie said. "Come back before you set out."
Just before they were to join the rest of the crew at the dock, Ed, Jim, and Frenchie returned to Spanish Jackie. Frenchie had found nothing useful in his search other than rumors of glimpses of the old crew. He wanted to believe they were more than rumors, but one couldn’t get their hopes up when pirates were involved. At least not more than they already were while looking for Stede Bonnet, the not-so-dead Gentleman Pirate.
"Word is a familiar-looking crew with a captain not unlike your undead gentleman pirate, stole a merchant's vessel and seemed to be looking for someone. Sounded like the bastard, but I have my doubts. This guy doesn't have any fancy anything and seems to actually be doing a decent job of being a pirate. Raiding vessels and stealing. Take that as you will."
"The ship's name, what is it?" Ed demanded.
"Some Latin shit, no one bothered to remember. But it did have a bird on the flag. All my crew could gather in a few hours. Now we're even."
"Oh, we are far from even, but it's a start," Ed stated. "You get to keep what flesh you have, but you helped Izzy take my ship, my crew, my friend. You may act as if nothing happened, but we both know I have killed for much less. Every breath either of you takes is because I let you." Ed didn't even wait for a response. Returning his knife to its place, he just turned and left. Frenchie followed suit. Jim rolled their eyes at the dramatics but followed the captain. Jim refused to admit that Jackie’s mention of a familiar crew had given them the tiniest bit of hope. A spark of hope they knew they should smother. Hope only ever got Jim in trouble and just led to more pain. Hope is always dangerous. Hope could easily get them all killed.

#24: Aloy [Horizon Zero Dawn]
Tumblr media
Welcome back, everybody!
This request was made by @kreenkrystal, who wanted to play the red-headed machine hunter in D&D. And I, of course, am here to provide. Hopefully, you'll enjoy this ride...
Next Time: We return briefly to the realm of the gods. Mama Bear of the Emerald Isle comes out to play!
So... what do we need for the machine hunter to shine?
The Wild Child: Aloy is a fantastic tracker, skilled huntress, and the master of stealth. We need to sneak, skulk, and disappear, all while treating our surroundings like our own pocket.
Big Brain Time: Aloy, in contrast to other tribe members, embraces technology and is quite good with it. Part of that is thanks to her sharing DNA with a prodigy scientist and also her trusty Focus. She's also a great crafter and tinker.
Proto-Super Soldier: While strength is not Aloy's main forte, her endurance and physical abilities are pretty above average.
---
Aloy is an almost perfect clone (about 99.4% DNA match) of a genius scientist. That for me speaks like a reason to make her a Variant Human. We get a +1 to two abilities of our choice (Dexterity and Intelligence), we learn one language of our choice and gain proficiency in one skill (Acrobatics). We also get to pick a feat: Observant further enhances our tracking abilities by giving us a +1 to either Wisdom or Intelligence, the ability to read lips, and a +5 bonus to our Perception and Investigation skills.
Aloy was exploring the wilderness since she was tiny, therefore we shall give her the Outlander background. We gain proficiency in Athletics and Survival, as well as proficiency with one musical instrument and one additional language. The Wanderer background feat gives us excellent memory for maps and geographical location, terrain layouts, settlements, etc. Sounds like a perfect choice for a tracker.
Tumblr media
ABILITY SCORES
Dexterity is our main ability, it will represent our nimbleness and our fighting style. Constitution will be next, Aloy boasts a praiseworthy endurance, able to withstand many hits from large and powerful machines. Follow that with Intelligence, being a clone of a prodigy gives us some serious scientific mind.
Strength is next, Aloy exercises regularly and with high intensity, and is able to lift and wield heavy machine parts and endure their recoil. Wisdom will follow, Aloy was taught to act and judge wisely by both Rost and the High Matriarch. Finally, we'll dump Charisma - Aloy was an outcast from the very beginning and thus had little to no interaction with other people.
CLASS
That was honestly a difficult one. But I think I got the basics down:
Level 1 - Ranger: We start with some tracking abilities. Rangers (Revised) start with a d10 Hit Dice and [10 + Constitution modifier] initial Hit Points. We get proficiencies with light armour, medium armour, shields, as well as simple and martial weapons. For Aloy we could get a hide or a regular leather armour and definitely a bow (plus a spear). Our saving throws are Strength and Dexterity, and we get to choose three class skills; let's get Insight, Perception, and Stealth to our roster.
As a Ranger, we get to pick our Favoured Enemy. By the power of fantasy racism, we get to select one type of enemy (beasts, fey, humanoids, monstrosities, or undead) and become an expert on fighting them. We get a +2 bonus to damage rolls of weapon attacks against our chosen enemy type, and we get an advantage on skill checks related to tracking them (Survival) and recalling information about them (Intelligence).
We're also a Natural Explorer, which grants us several benefits, such as immunity from difficult terrain effects, or an advantage on Initiative rolls. If we're travelling with a group for at least one hour, we can find food more easily, the group cannot become lost (unless via magic), and we can learn the exact number of creatures we're tracking, including when they passed the area we're investigating.
Tumblr media
Level 2 - Ranger: We get to pick a Fighting Style and for Aloy we gotta go with Archery, which gives us a +2 bonus to attack rolls made with ranged weapons.
D&D Rangers also gain access to Spellcasting. Wisdom is our casting ability, and we have a fixed number of spells we can learn. No cantrips and no rituals for us, but in Aloy's case magic takes the backseat. We're also going to pick spells that can be flavoured as technological upgrades as Rangers don't have access to the Modern Magic UA (feel free to negotiate with your DM, though). We start with two 1st-level spells:
Hunter's Mark is a Ranger staple. One creature within 90 feet of us is branded for 1 hour (concentration). Until the spell ends, it takes extra 1d6 damage from our weapon attacks, and we have an advantage on Perception and Survival checks related to tracking and locating it.
Alarm protects the 20-foot-cube area from unwanted intrusion. It lasts for 8 hours and we can designate a number of creature that do not trigger it. If an undesignated creature enters the area, we receive a sound cue in our minds or out loud.
Level 3 - Ranger: With Primeval Awareness we can establish a link with wildlife. We can understand and communicate simple ideas and emotions to a non-hostile beast, understand its needs, and find out if it's under a spell. After spending a minute meditating, we can also detect the presence of our Favoured Enemy within 5 miles of us.
We also get to pick our subclass, our Ranger Conclave. While there is no machine hunter or anything construct-related specifically in D&D, the re-flavoured Monster Slayer from Xanathar's Guide to Everything will do just fine. We start with Hunter's Sense, which lets us pick one creature within 60 feet and learn its weaknesses. We know if it has any resistances, immunities, and vulnerabilities, and what they are. Slayer's Prey lets us focus on one target within 60 feet of us and add extra 1d6 weapon damage on the first attack we deal each turn.
Tumblr media
We also get two spells: one from the Ranger class and one from our subclass:
Protection from Evil and Good last for 10 minutes (concentration) and shields one target we touch (or ourselves) against aberrations, celestials, elementals, fey, fiends, and undead.
Cure Wounds is a simple yet effective healing spell that restores [1d8 + our spellcasting modifier] Hit Points to one creature we touch. It doesn't work on constructs or the undead.
Level 4 - Ranger: Time for our first Ability Score Improvement! Let's raise our Intelligence and Constitution by 1.
Level 5 - Artificer: This time, we shall focus a little more on the technological aspect of Aloy's character. Multiclassing into an Artificer gives us proficiencies with thieves' tools and tinker's tools, as well as some proficiencies we already have. We start with Magical Tinkering, which lets us imbue a spark of magic into a Tiny-sized object to grant it one of several properties: emit light, play a recorded message, make images appear on the surface, etc.
Artificers also get access to Spellcasting, with Intelligence as their casting ability and including the knowledge of ritual casting. If your DM introduced MagiTech or any sort of more advanced technology in their campaign, feel free to check out the Modern Magic UA for some tech-based spells (things like the On/Off cantrip or Remote Access would be pretty useful). For now, we get to pick two cantrips:
Guidance lasts for 1 minute (concentration). Before it ends, a targeted creature (or ourselves) can add a 1d4 to their next ability check. The spell then ends.
Mending lets us fix a tear of up to 1 foot in diameter. We can use it to mend a weapon, stitch together a torn-up document, fix clothing, etc. The cantrip can fix a magical item, but won't restore the magic into it.
Artificers have full access to their spell list, provided they have the spell slots for it. Each day, they can prepare [Intelligence modifier + half of Artificer level (rounded down)] spells. We start with two 1st-level spell slots:
Identify lets us learn about an object of our choice. If it's a magical item, we can learn what are its properties and spells that are put onto it. If it's a regular object, we may learn things like how old it is, what's it made of, etc
Jump triples the jump distance of any creature we touch (or ourselves) for 1 minute.
Longstrider increases the ground speed of any creature we touch (or ourselves) for 1 hour.
Tumblr media
Level 6 - Artificer: Here, we unlock the Artificer's party trick - infusions. With Infuse Item, we get a list of modifications similar to the Warlock's invocations. Here, however, instead of spell improvements, we get modifications to our items. We start with four infusions:
Enhanced Defence grants us a +1 AC bonus to a suit of armour or a shield.
Mind Sharpener can be applied onto a suit of armour or a robe (feel free to ask your DM to make it into a Focus-like device). Whenever we fail a Constitution check to maintain concentration, we can use one out of four charges to succeed instead. The item regains 1d4 charges daily.
Replicate Magic Item: Goggles of Night gives us 60 feet of darkvision, which is useful since humans don't have that ability innately.
Replicate Magic Item: Bag of Holding is an adventurer's staple and a good nod to the game's near-limitless inventory box.
We can also pick another Artificer spell: Feather Fall can slow down the fall of us and up to five creatures within 60 feet of us. If we land before the spell ends (1 minute), we take no fall damage.
Level 7 - Artificer: With The Right Tool for the Job we are now never without equipment. If we have thieves' tools or artisan's tools in hand, we can create one set of any artisan's tools within 5 feet of us. The process lasts for 1 uninterrupted hour (which can be done during a short or long rest) and we can only create one tool kit at a time.
At this level, we can also pick our subclass - our Artificer Specialist. Now, originally I envisioned Aloy to be a Battle Smith, but when I saw this picture, there was no doubt in my mind. Sorry, Mr Stark. You would've been the first if anybody requested you.
Tumblr media
With her talent in tinkering, Aloy is an Armourer. We gain proficiency with heavy armour and smith's tools. With our Arcane Armour, we now have a great source of protection. The armour cannot be removed from us against our will, it can be used as the Artificer's spellcasting focus, and it will replace missing limbs with enchanted metallic prosthetic. We can also customize it and pick the Armour Model. The Infiltrator model increases our ground speed by 5 feet, grants advantage on Stealth checks, and has a gem-like node that can be used as a ranged weapon to fire bolts that deal 1d6 lightning damage.
The Armourer also has its own spells, two of which are available to us from the start. These spells are always prepared for us and don't count against the number of spells we can prepare each day:
Magic Missile creates three darts of force that always hit the desired target, dealing [1d4 + 1] force damage.
Thunderwave releases a booming shockwave from our location. Each creature within a 15-foot cube from us must make a Constitution saving throw or take 2d8 thunder damage and be pushed 10 feet away from us (half damage and no push on a successful save).
Level 8 - Artificer: Time for another Ability Score Improvement. Let's raise our Constitution and Strength by 1 point each.
We can also get another Artificer spell: Faerie Fire outlines all objects in a 20-foot cube with colourful light. Creatures that fail a Dexterity saving throw also glow and cannot benefit from things such as invisibility. Any attack dealt against a glowing creature has an advantage for 1 minute (concentration).
Level 9 - Ranger: Coming back to the wilderness, we get the first Monster (or Machine) Slayer upgrade. Extra Attack allows us to attack twice instead of once during a single Attack action.
We also get a Ranger spell to choose: Find Traps lets us detect any trap within our line of sight. We can perceive the boundaries of spells such as Alarm and Glyph of Warding, as well as tripwires and mechanical traps. We cannot senses natural hazards, such as weak floors or hidden sinkholes.
Our Ranger subclass gives us one more spell: Zone of Truth creates a 15-foot-radius sphere centred on a point within 60 feet of us for 10 minutes. All creatures inside the sphere must make a Charisma saving throw or be forced to speak truthfully (or what they believe to be true) while within its boundaries. They are not forced to speak, however.
Level 10 - Ranger: Halfway through the build and we get Greater Favoured Enemy. Now, we can choose a more advanced type of foe to be better against. Here is where I suggest choosing constructs for Aloy. Our bonus against all our favoured enemies now increases to +4.
Level 11 - Ranger: We get another subclass upgrade. With Supernatural Defence we gain additional protection against the creatures we hunt. If the creature that is the target of our Slayer's Prey feature forces us into a saving throw (or if we use an ability check to escape a grapple), we add a 1d6 to our roll.
We also get another spell: Locate Object lets us name or describe an object and then detect that specific item within 1,000 feet of us. The spell lasts for 10 minutes (concentration).
Level 12 - Ranger: We become Fleet of Foot. This lets us use the Dash action as a bonus action.
Tumblr media
We also get another ASI. Let's bump up our Dexterity by 2 points for better AC and better weapon attacks.
Level 13 - Ranger: We don't get any class-related features here, but we do unlock 3rd-level spells: Conjure Barrage uses a piece of ammo (or a thrown weapon) to create multiple copies of it that strike any target in a 15-foot cone who fails their Dexterity saving throw. It deals 3d8 damage (half on a successful save).
We also get one spell from our subclass: Magic Circle creates a 10-foot-radius, 20-foot-tall cylinder of magical energy, which protects everyone inside from one or more of the following creature type: celestial, elemental, fey, fiend, or undead. The chosen types cannot willingly enter the circle (if using magic, they must succeed on a Constitution saving throw), attacks made against creatures inside the circle are made with disadvantage, and creatures inside the circle cannot be charmed or frightened. The Circle can be also cast in reverse, trapping the designated creatures inside.
Level 14 - Ranger: We get to Hide In Plain Sight. On our turn, we can sacrifice our movement to remain perfectly still when hiding. Any creature that attempts to find us take a -10 penalty to their Perception check. The effect ends when we decide to move or if we fall prone.
Level 15 - Ranger: Time for another subclass upgrade. Magic-User's Nemesis gives as some methods for fighting spellcasters. When we see a creature casting a spell or teleporting within 60 feet of us, we can force a Wisdom saving throw onto it. On a failed save, the spell doesn't take effect. We can't use this feature again until we finish a short or long rest.
We also get another spell: Protection from Energy grants the willing creature we touch (or ourselves) resistance to one of the following damage types (acid, cold, fire, lightning, or thunder) for 1 hour (concentration).
Level 16 - Ranger: Time for another ASI. Let's cap our Dexterity to a maximum, by putting two points there.
Level 17 - Ranger: We unlock 4th-level spells at this level: Freedom of Movement makes a targeted creature (or ourselves) unaffected by difficult terrain and spells that reduce speed or prevent movement, such as Hold Person, Command: Halt, or Snare. The target can also sacrifice 5 feet of movement to escape any non-magical restraint and grapple.
Our subclass grants us another spell: Banishment sends a creature away from our current location. Depending on whether or not the creature is native to the plane of existence we currently reside at, the banishment might be permanent if uninterrupted for 1 minute (concentration).
Level 18 - Ranger: We learn how to Vanish. We can use the Hide action as a bonus action, and we can no longer be tracked by non-magical means, unless we choose to leave a trail.
Level 19 - Ranger: We get the final subclass upgrade: Slayer's Counter. If the target of our Slayer's Prey feature forces us to make a saving throw, we can instead make a ranged weapon attack against it. If we manage to hit the target, we automatically succeed on the saving throw.
We also get the final spell of the build: Locate Creature works in a similar manner to Locate Object, except now it can track a creature we name in a 1,000 feet radius. It cannot, however, locate beings altered by magic, such as via the Polymorph spell.
Level 20 - Ranger: Our capstone of the build is Ranger 16, which means it's ASI time. Let's make our Strength into an even number and put the remaining point in Charisma.
Tumblr media
---
And that is Aloy of the Nora Clan. Whew, I'm gonna be honest, that was DIFFICULT! Thank you, krystal, for the absolute challenge. Let's see what we came up with:
We have a pretty agile hunter, with some tech-savvy skills and a good option of ranged attacks. With infusions and the Infiltrator armour, our AC is around 17, we have a +5 to our Initiative, and 164 Hit Points on average.
Unfortunately, we had to neglect Wisdom and Charisma, two most popular saving throws. We got a little help from the Mind Sharpener infusion, but that might not prove enough against effects like charmed or frightened.
---
And that is it. I hope you guys enjoyed this build, and I'll see you in the next one. This one will come sooner, I promise!
- Nerdy out!

ANNOUNCEMENT! I WILL BE LIVE STREAMING KIKI'S DELIVERY SERVICE THROUGH GOOGLE MEET, TWO MONTHS FROM NOW Okay so I'm a lonely girl whose friends all went to college while I'm at home watching kids movies, and I recently had a death in my family (she was all I had) so now I'm even more of a loner. I don't have Twitch, so I will make a google meet. I know that sounds sketchy, but I don't show my face or usually talk. If I have a microphone, I will talk. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO SHOW YOUR FACE! In fact, if there's more than 3 people joining, I'll make a no-camera rule! I hope at least 5-10 people can join me. My friends will hopefully be there, but it's okay for strangers to come too. My google meets are open to the public. Movies I will be showing; We'll start with Coco in the morning, then later we will watch Kiki's Delivery Service. After that, it's Wallace and Gromit Curse of the Were Rabbit and then followed by Spookley the Square Pumpkin. You really don't have to stay for those last two, if you don't want to LOL but I have friends who like that kind of stuff, but if you only wanted to watch Kiki's delivery service or Coco, that's fine. If you have little kids or family over, that would be a nice time you guys could set up the laptop and watch the movies, but there will be a chat bar on the side. RULES AND WARNINGS: Warning- If you join I'll try to keep my class but my friends and I like to make jokes in the chat bar, and sometimes we use fowl language. If you're a young person like me with no kids, I still think the movies are fun and entertaining enough to watch. Just keep in mind if you have a kid watching it with you, that my friends and I like to mess around in the chat bar LOL but let me know ahead of time if you have a kid with you, so I know not to swear. Warning- If you have a certain... issue (like my friend) and there's something from one of the movies that may upset you, let me know! I will skip the part! I tried to pick the sweetest, most non-controversial, cutest "Halloween" themed movies I could find. They are all family friendly, I watched them myself. I myself am a really sensitive person, who can NOT watch anything Tim burton, horror, or a little creepy. I once had a mental breakdown in school because my teacher played Nightmare before Christmas, and it upset me. I AM NOT playing that awful movie. I chose all the good ones. Warning- I can't decide whether I want to watch Howl's Moving Castle or not, but if I can get at least 10 people to join and they all tell me to watch it, I might give it a try. If ONE PERSON says it's not for me, than I'm not going to watch it. We will have a vote in the chat whether I should watch it or not. Unless everybody says yes, I won't watch it. LET ME KNOW WHAT SCARES YOU and I won't watch it. ALWAYS tell me if there's a scary part. RULE NUMBER 1- NO CAMERAS! Turn your camera off on Google meet, you're not the star of the show! I want everybody to focus on the movie. Due to that, I will not have my camera on (plus i don't have a camera) RULE NUMBER 2- Everyone is allowed to speak in the chat bar, you know, joke around, make clever commentary. However, if someone tells me they have a kid with them that can read, I will tell people to tone down the fowl language a bit. I hope though that we can be free tho, because I honestly sometimes make some commentary that isn't always as family friendly as the movie LOL ;p RULE NUMBER 3- Let me know if you're joining me ahead of time, yo have almost 3 months to think about it. I will be watching the movies on Halloween... and I forget when the exact day it. I will pick times based on the amount of people who say they have to join at a certain time. I live in Pennsylvania (the U.S) so my time zone is obviously different to someone who lives in Australia. I'm gonna be up all night anyway, I'll try to get a lot of sleep before, don't worry about me. My only waking hours will be me watching those 4-5 movies in a row
AND REMEBER TO FOCUS ON THE MOVIES AND HAVE FUN!

"You Owe Me"
No Warning. Just cuteness :)
Chapter 4 "Family"
Tumblr media
When we get down stairs I see Ivy sitting on the counter, infront of Brooke, playing with....... a.. fake.. hand?.
She turns to me and I give her a little smile and I ask "You havin fun sweet pea"
She nods "One of them have 2 boys. Brookie watches them when their dad is busy"
Jax "My sons"
I turn to look at him and he Continues "Able and Thomas"
"When did that happen"
"Found out 2 months after you left she was pregnant"
I just stare at him because I feel like there's more to it. "Thomas is Tara's"
I look at him like he grew three heads.
He laughs "Yeah. A lot has changed since you've been gone"
I nod my head as I turn back to look at Ivy "Yeah. It has"
"How old is she" I hear barely above a whisper beside but also behind me. I turn to see
Chibs. Looking at Ivy in adoration. He's probably thinking about his daughter. I smile and say "5"
"So she's in school" Tig ask
"Not yet because of her birthday"
"Well looks like Able's got a new friend"
"Or Girlfriend"
Chibs and Happy both say "No" and the same time, staring holes through Rat
"Why are they mad" Ivy ask
"They don't want you to have a boyfriend" I say
"What if I want a boyfriend"
Happy and Chibs faces soften as they look at her
"You don't need one" I say
"But what if I want one"
"No" Happy says
"Yes" Ivy says to Happy trying to make a mean face. Which makes us all laugh. I cover my mouth trying not to show my smile while looking at Happy.
Chibs "If they can get through all of us then we'll discuss it. Ok?"
Ivy looks at him then me then him again before finally saying "Fine. BUT I get ice cream"
We chuckle. "Wha'ever you wan' love" Chibs says walking around the counter
"Shouldn't you ask mom" Tig says amused. Chibs waves him off. I just shake my head till Happy says "She's not allergic right?"
Chibs stops scooping and looks at me "It's fine" I say
Jax says "Well that was quick. I think she beat you"
I laugh before asking "What do you mean"
Jax says "You don't remember how you had everyone around your finger in no time. Even Gemma"
I laugh "Yeah well. She's like her momma what can I say"
"Then we're in trouble" Tig say as he puts his arm around me.
We just watch Ivy talk to Happy,Chibs,Brooke and Chucky.
~~~~~~~~
Right now we are all sitting around downstairs waiting on Tig and Rat to get back with the food and apparently someone that Tig wants me to meet.
"Mommy you have to teach Brookie how to braid my hair because I want her to watch me sometimes like she does Jackie's boys and if your not there or can do it she can."
I just smile and say "Ok. I'll teach her soon"
"Is it hard" Brooke ask
"Once you know how to no"
"Mommy's a good teacher so you'll be fine" We all chuckle. I turn and see everyone just watching Ivy as she colors and talking about anything she can think of.
I see Happy outside smoking so I turn to Brooke and say "I'll be back" she nods, I kiss Ivy's head then head out the front door.
He turns his head when he hears the bell and his eyes light up but he doesn't smile "Hey" he says
"Hey." I move closer to him before I say "Those will kill you. Ya know?"
He smiles "Yeah. I remember you telling my that at least once a day back then"
I sigh, stand next to him and look out at the street. He puts his arm around my shoulder and we just stand there till he says "I've missed you"
"I missed you too" I look down shaking my head "so much"
He puts his lips to my head and I close my eyes trying to savor the moment which didn't last long enough because we heard a motorcycle.
Hap pulls back, I look up at him just staring into his almost black eyes till I hear.
"Mrs. Lowman can you get the door please"
I look over to my left and see Rat smiling like a idiot holding like 5 Large pizza boxes. I laugh and shake my head before going to open the door for him. He walks in and Happy goes to enter right after him but I stop him. I look at him with sweet eyes. Silently asking him not to kill him.
"It wasn't funny" he says
"It was kinda funny"
"What was funny" Tig ask walking up but I don't look at him I keep looking at Happy
"Rat's about to be our new Half sack"
I frown my eyebrows. Soooooo confused till Tig laughs and says "Halfsack was a prospect" I look at him and slowly nod my head still confused till Happy says "He only had one ball"
Tig says "The other got blown off in the service" I nod then look at the person next to him and smile politely which makes Tig say "Oh right."
He turns to the lady and says "Baby this is Reina. Like I said she's like my niece slash daughter. One that doesn't hate me" He looks at me and says "Doll Face this is Venus. My old lady."
I keep a straight face just staring at Tig till I can't anymore and I start laughing.  "Hi. It's nice to meet you" I say putting my hand out.
Tig breaths out "You scared me Doll Face"
I laugh She looks at Tig then me and smiles "Pleasure is all mine. Alexander has told me alot about you in the last two hours"
I look at Tig "Hopefully good things"
He winks which make me smile before looking back at Venus "Great things" she says with a smile
"You guys gonna come eat?"
I turn and see Jax standing in the doorway then see everyone sitting down, looking at us. I chuckle a little and say "Yeah"
Jax smiles and we walk in, grab a paper plate, grab some pizza and drinks before sitting down.
Brooke and Ivy are still sitting across from each other in the booth.
Chibs next to Ivy and Rat next to Brooke.
Chucky pulled up a chair and is sitting at the end of the booth.
Jax sits next to Tig which is to the left of me.
Tig sits next to Venus.
Venus sit to the right of Happy
And
Me and Happy sit next to each other at one of the tables. His hand on my thigh and my hand on his.
They really are my family.
Thats The End Of This Chapter👸
Hope You Enjoyed💙
FEH - So, update notes for 5.9.0 are out
ICYMI, last night we got news on what's coming for the 5.9.0 software update for Fire Emblem Heroes, which you can check on this archived copy at Gamepedia.
But I want to comment on each point of interest right below and resume more or less all that's new as well as sharing my thoughts, feel free to continue reading.
First of all, the thing we all look forward to the most:
✨ R E F I N E S ✨
Who wouldn't be excited to see one of their favorite characters or that of someone else's getting a well deserved refine after a long wait? Us Micaiah fans are "eating well" lately, meaning that we're happy with the attention she's been getting, but the coming refine announcement is all we should probably read of her in a while:
Tumblr media
Yes, you're seeing right, her Brave alt is getting a refine, I've been waiting to decide how I want to build her. 🥺 But hopefully it's good, I'm excited regardless.
As for the others, it was about normal, the other [CYL 2019] winners were also bound to get theirs around this time as well as some of the oldest Legendaries too, this time, Ephraim and Lyn got lucky with new refines, they both have received great remix upgrades overall but [Solar Brace II] for Ephraim is particularly looking quite better indeed, I have mine at +1 +hp collecting dust so I look forward to see what his refine will be otherwise if I don't like it enough and if someone needs [Atk/Def Solo 4] he'll have his days counted.
In a similar topic, Hector in his Legendary alt isn't getting a refine yet, but he's getting [Crafty Fighter 3] and an upgraded version of [Ostia's Pulse], which is slightly less restrictive but has a few extras to grant him an extra utility. He also gains extra inheritance value thanks to the former addition, both skills are easy to secure with the 4 available slots.
Male Kana is getting [Dusk Dragonstone] which is a direct counterpart to that of his sister's weapon, perhaps the effects at base and refine will be analogous, but we'll learn at the time of datamine, taking place soon after the update gradually rolls out this 9/2/2021 at 8:00 p.m. (GMT-3) so in about 3 days and 3 hours as of this post's creation date.
Next up, I want to cover our next batch of limited [Combat Manuals]:
Tumblr media
This time, Soiree Nephenee and Flora are our 5★ choices, and they're actually good, but not so impressive.
For me... Flora means I can finally get [Atk/Res Solo 3] and [Quick Riposte 3] on OG Idoun (for context, she's my "skill unit", so I'm giving her every skill she can get) and Soiree Nephenee means I can finally merge her, which is so pog because mine is -spd and I quite like her:
Tumblr media
It sure sucks, but it's not so bad, still, it's great I can finally patch it.
Again, I'll leave any appreciation talk for later, and I only have this version of her.
There's also Spring Saleh, the only noteworthy 4★ one who carries good skills and can also serve as merge for those working on him, but if you want my recommendation, try to secure Soiree Nephenee, her fodder is all right and she's a seasonal unit, if you also happen to be working on her, that means you can give her a free merge.
Asides all that, the following Legendary Heroes will now appear only in {Legendary Hero Remix} banners, the next should be coming some time in the middle of this month: Lucina, Azura, Tiki, Eirika, Marth and Hríd.
Tumblr media
We're getting new [Memento Events] for [Heroes Journey] (the scenes with random outcomes you can watch when you get 100 [Memento Points]), we'll learn of them after the software update.
I didn't get all the possible outcomes in this event when it was around and didn't even know until last day that the three [Orbs] from the quests were daily so I missed 6 of them, what a drag, but at least I finished it I guess.
But speaking of it, I realized I've never given my insight on it, but so far I think it's an okay event with more fun interactions, rewards are quite nice and appreciated, but it has little play value making it less impressive and easy to forget (adding to the fact it'll run once in each month for 3 days), specially once you get all the rewards it's almost pointless to farm beyond then, but make sure you clear it once everyday when it's around!
Finally, just a random [Aether Raids] structure has its level cap raised by 1 as per usual and two weapons are getting one of their mechanisms fixed to work as intended (Nyx's [Ginnungagap] sure was more important though) but no news on coming music to the [Concert Hall] since months so 0/10 dislike unsubscribe.
It's overall a decently packed update but there's not much to be excited about, other than the refines for the [CYL 2019], as said before, I think it's most exciting to me, but that and the free merge on Soiree Nephenee are my only major highlights.
It took a minute but things are kind of as I had hoped.
I know I made a lot of posts before the game came out talking about how I hoped I would be more social due to it and I would play more with friends and for a few days I was worried it wouldn't make a difference. But now I am sure that it is one of many differences it IS making. I have made friends due to it, and I am happy about that.
Spent hours this morning playing with a friend from a small Animal Crossing discord, and even got @dizzimulation to drop by, though he was reluctant, I think or at least hope he got something out of it. But he didn't get his fruit because he didn't leave through the airport, so he has to come back sometime, and I'm almost glad he has a reason to come back because I want to enjoy this game more with him.
Tumblr media
(I didn't get enough pictures because I was busy having fun but hopefully next time I'll get more. Better ones than this at least, lol, but this was the one I looked best in... obviously I am in the pineapple dress.)
And so that makes four different people I've had on my island now this week not including my sister who I play with almost constantly as well. (I feel the game has also made our relationship better.) I want to host a bunch of people at once sometime though, and I also want my sister to play with us so she can be in on all the fun as well but she's SUPER shy so we'll see how things go sometime.
Today I also got to go to my friend from the discord's island too. It was really nice, I think it was cuter than mine, but I still think Euphoria needs a lot of work I plan to put in. But it was cool seeing an island other than mine or my sister's... because i don't have much stuff I've run across to put out and beautify my town in thought my island might have a generic look, but in reality our two islands couldn't have been more different. And hers was really nice, but just so different it's hard to make a comparison. I was a bit jealous, well, not jealous really, because I am really happy for her, but just little things like how lucky she got with her map and how she's already about to get the Able Sisters shop already... but I am happy about that one both for her and me because she said she would let me come over once construction is done. So yeah, it was just nice to get a peek at a friend's island and see how differently things can be done in this game.
Right now I have the game open and it's a beautiful perfectly clear night, and the starry sky is so freakin' beautiful. This game is beautifully made, I truly have never seen a game's graphics that I love this much, because i have always loved the style of Animal Crossing but this game is on a new level for sure.
Anyway, i have the game open watching for shooting stars to try and make good use of my time in game while I write this and I've seen and wished on three, but I think it was the second night or something I saw dozens (but only bothered to wish on about a dozen myself), maybe it was a meteor shower or something, I'm not sure, but I would like to get more star fragments now that I have a couple of wand recipes (star and bamboo) because I like having extra wands to be able to gift them to friends who might not have them because I think they are such a fun little part of the game.
And gifting, that's the main reason I need to get all of my friends over for at least a minute or two. I mentioned how I loved the mailing system (ah just caught two more stars!) but I hate that your friends have to come over to be considered your friends in this game. Can't they just detect who is my nintendo switch friend, or ask for a code or something? I mean I guess it is reasonable enough, I am really glad we can do it at all now, but I want to send presents to all my friends. And while we're on what I dislike, I don't like that you can only send two letters a day to each friend. I want to send them something when it makes me think of them and that might be more often than that! But overall I guess my criticisms are just small ones, it's really a lot of fun to get to send my friends gifts and I am really glad it's not limited to best friends like I initially thought. And so I guess I have quite a few people to send to, and I'm not the best gift giver, I am actually hoping this will help with teaching me how to get what people like and such, so I suppose it's alright. I have just had moments when I saw something and thought of a friend I can't send to yet. Guess I'll just start saving those gifts until I can get that friend over for the first time. I have such cluttered storage though.
Well mostly cluttered with my clothes. My wardrobe is really coming along, in that I could actually make more outfits than what the wand holds (including what I wear underneath) so I have still been changing up my underneath outfit a lot as well as using the wand. I hit up three different Mabels today (mine, my friend's, and my sister's) and bought a good bit of what each one was selling. Plus villagers always give (five more shooting stars!) me clothing, I get it from the recycle box, and tons from balloons as well as ordering it from Nook Shopping when I find a piece I like. I try to only get things I like or think will be useful, and I DO sell clothes that i don't like. But there is a lot of cute stuff in this game, and I only hope it's more than I could ever possibly collect, because when I find a cute new piece of clothing I just melt. Like the blossom dress I think it's called, I'd never seen it before and I think it's super darling. (Four more stars!) The clothes are so special to me because in real life for a number of reasons (weight, money, pain and ability, etc) I can't dress in a way that helps me to express myself at all. My hair is similar because I overheat so easily I have to keep it as short as I can, and I can only style it the way my mom likes or she won't be seen with me and that matters as she is my driver and caretaker. (5 more stars). So to be able to express myself in game and look how I want really feels amazing, especially when that is a lot of what my friends will see of me since we're only online friends.
Anyway, tomorrow is Biff's birthday and I looked at New Leaf's guide of what to get him but I don't have any of the main things, and so I am just going to give him something random from my storage. I hope he will like it enough and that his birthday goes well. I dunno if I should invited my sister or people over or try before I go see him, or if I just go over on my own. Biff though has been a real unlikely buddy for me. Tammy and I have clashed since the beginning, which was kind of a bummer because I expected to like her most. And then there was this jock hippo, love hippos, hate jock personalities, so it could have gone either way. But he was funny, and cute, and endearing instead of coming off like an asshole so we were fast pals. He didn't even get a birthday announcement on the bulliten board from Tom Nook... Beau whose birthday is in April already got one, but Biff was maybe too close to the start of the game? Not sure. But maybe I'll draw him something on the board tomorrow. Or well it's technically today.
This has been long enough though. How many stars is that? I might go ahead and do some other stuff online while I look for more, it's a good way to multitask in my opinion. Because I personally never catch them if I'm not looking at the sky, but to sit for an hour or more just staring isn't a great use of time. So to have it open in the background while taking care of other things, that is the way to go! 😁 But yeah, I'll shut up now. Thanks for reading!
Today was a pretty good day. There was a big stressful part of the beginning but the majority of the day was very good. There was even a special surprise. And yoga.
I slept super poorly last night. I couldn't fall asleep for forever because I felt sick and nauseous and bad. And then when I did fall asleep I woke up a few times again. Air conditioner turned off in the middle of the night and James rollover next to me and I woke up just horribly uncomfortable. He wouldn't turn the air conditioning back on that because he always takes care of me. And I was able to sleep until about 7.
James was awake and told me I could keep sleeping but I didn't really want to. I wanted to lay there so I just played on my phone for a while. And then I got up. I got cleaned up and dressed and I felt okay.
I hung in my hammock for a little bit and then James told me he made a waffle. And I was like okay. And I was confused because he had asked me what I wanted for breakfast last night and I said I was going to have the avocado scramble thing I made the other day. And then he remembered that after he made the waffle and felt very bad. But it was fine. He made the thing I wanted and he had the waffle for breakfast instead.
I got the best boyfriend.
We hung out for a while and then left to go to the bus. James walked me there. And then bus proceeded not to show up for almost a half an hour. I was very frustrated. Because it was supposed to be there at 9: 30 but it didn't come until almost 9:50. And we had been there since 920. So I was very stressed out and I hate being late!! I texted Tiffany and let her know and I was just very distressed.
I was about 15 minutes late in the end. Sucks. I'm going to try to get an earlier bus tomorrow. So even if it runs late I will hopefully have the same issue. Because seriously we were three blocks away from access art and our bus driver saw someone on the street that he knew and he park the bus and got off to go have a conversation with him. I was losing my mind.
But I got there and everyone was fine. We're just lesson planning so it wasn't like I was missing anything yet but I hate being late. We all kind of bullshitted and talked for a little bit and then the teacher from holistic Life Center came.
He was a really nice guy. He told really funny stories and he was young and covered in tattoos and wearing a Orioles yoga shirt. He mostly talked about mindfulness. A little bit of yoga. And we learned a lot about breathing exercises. I felt very Vindicated and validated about the types of breathing exercises I already do with the kids when they're upset or hurt. But I learned some really interesting ones today. Specifically that I breathe wrong and I'm trying to retrain myself but it's very hard. It was very enjoyable even though I hated sitting in the folding chairs for that long. My feet don't reach the ground and it's uncomfortable.
But we also played a couple mindfulness games at the end of that was cool. Stuff that we can use in the classroom and it's awesome. I'm really glad that we were able to do that.
We had a late lunch. Marcus went down the street and got me a spring roll. Was very good. And I worked on my lesson plan. Almost out. I think I'll probably end up finishing it tomorrow. And then I'll go back in and make sure it's all good. I also think I want to use a couple other visual things for the classroom. And maybe add some tutorial images of some kind. We have tomorrow and Friday to finish lesson plans. And even with my brain breaks where I sketched tattoo ideas I still got a lot done.
While I was taking a break on my lesson plan I was looking at eBay and I got a crazy good deal on a Furby buddy. Something that I've been trying to get for 2 months now there's a little plush versions of the Furbies. I don't absolutely love them but people use them to make the long Furbies. And I'd like to try my hand at that. And I got one for $5. Usually they go for $35 to $40. I am very excited. I think I'm going to use it slightly as part of my example for my quilt making lesson. I'm going to make its belly pattern based off of Victorian crazy quilts. I'm very excited.
At 3 we finished up. We all decided on which weeks we should be teaching our lessons and when. Was decided that my quilt project would go first which makes me slightly nervous but it's probably a good idea. Because it's community building project we're going to kind of have all the kids get out there art things right away before they jump into other projects and I think that will work out nicely.
And then me and fitsum went home. His driving kind of makes me nauseous. Lot of fast speed up and then stopping. But we had a nice conversation about capitalism and its downfalls. And talked about apartments because he's moving as well. We saw a couple meet cars that we pointed out and talked about. It was a good time.
He dropped me off and I made some food. Did a couple packing things. Made a pile of the furniture and getting rid of. And just kind of hung out. Me and James were going to have dinner together but I kind of just wanted to be by myself a little bit. My dad's going to come visit this weekend and he's going to take the bed. So really these are the last couple days I'm ever going to live alone if all goes according to plan. And it feels very strange. I've lived alone for a long time. But I am excited. Nervous but excited.
I was just kind of chilling. Even though it was too humid in here to call it chilling. Playing Animal Crossing and watching videos. And then I decided to go check the mail.
I was excited because I had a package. But then I saw that there was a letter in there as well from the Minneapolis Apartment project. Which means it's from the class action settlement. Which means it's a check. When we won the settlement last year they said that we would get all of our rent back. But of course it was going to go into appeals. So we would probably just get a portion of our rent back. And honestly getting any amount of money from living in those apartments would be fine. But I was so nervous about opening this check. So he opened my package first. And it was socks! very exciting. I was looking forward to those socks. They're black and they have little hearts on them.
But I couldn't put off opening the check any longer. And I did and if I did my math right I thought about nine months worth of rent back. And the checks that this might not be the only check. That I might get more? Like after all the lawyers and fees are paid if there's anything left over there going to send another check. That's wild. And like all of my money stress. The $40 me and James got scammed out of the other day. James his bike breaking. Moving. All of it. This kind of feels like a buffer. We don't have to worry about it now. Least for a while. And I'm making more money and if he gets this job he's going to be at making more money. And even if he doesn't get this job he's going to keep looking until he does get something good. Don't have to be so stressed out and nickel-and-diming ourselves all the time. it's exciting. It feels Like the universe is telling me everything's going to be okay. That means using my white privilege to help make the lives of my neighbors and Minneapolis better is being rewarded. And that sometimes being a good person and trying to help other people does pay off in the end. And sometimes in cash.
I kind of didn't know what to say when I open the check. So I called James and let him know. And then I called my dad. We talked about taxes and he's going to check with the tax lady to make sure that I have put enough aside next year. I don't want to have an issue. But yeah it's exciting. And it was good to hear dad. He sounds a lot better. And he's looking forward to coming on Sunday and I'm looking forward to having him here. We're going to patch holes but hopefully we'll also do something else. Maybe we'll eat some good food and maybe we'll go see something interesting. Unsure of what yet but I'll figure that out.
I called Jess next to let her know. And she was very excited for me. And then I went back to packing. I brought more stuff from the basement. I broke down all of my Furby boxes. I don't know why I'm keeping them but it feels weird to throw them away. So flat in the Middle East to put them in storage. And I use the box that I have been storing them in to put kitchen stuff in. Paper towels and Ziploc bags. That one bottle of alcohol I always have. And then I took a shower. I painted my toenails and I'm just watching videos and enjoying my night.
Back to lesson planning tomorrow. And then I think falafels with James. No matter what it's going to be a good day. I can feel it. Hope you all have a good night tonight. Be kind to each other. Go out of your way for someone else. Don't expect anything in return. Good night
I am ready to go to sleep. Today was a good day. But it was way too hot. And that made everything pretty hard.
Just slept okay last nightbot I woke up feeling okay. I got up and and sweet pea. Got dressed and felt okay. I had a nice morning.
I stuck to my schedule of working on a lesson plan. I'm almost done the one. I think I'm going to have to stick to you like a half hour a day because that seems to be all I can focus on. But it was something.
She spent the rest of the morning just kind of chilling. Watching videos. Playing with sweet pea. I was very annoyed about my wagon. Because I waited for it to be delivered last night and then I got a message that they lost it in the mail. So I got a refund and I'm going to wait till Wednesday when the refund goes through before I rebuy it. And it looks like it's $10 cheaper now anyway. Still very annoying.
I left here around 11 and like two streets. I got watermelon and iced tea and a cookie. And I sat outside and enjoyed my snack. I brought a mozzarella cheese from home as well and I just enjoyed the nice weather.
It did get way too hot today though. It got up to about 90 and it was very very sunny. By the end of the day there was sunshowers and that was nice. But right now I'm just kind of laying in front of my fan. Tomorrow supposed to be cooler. That'll to be nice
I got to work around 12:30. And did a bunch of cleaning and organizing. Got all the kids artwork sorted so that I could ask them what they wanted to hang in the shower and told them that everything else is getting thrown out. And we stuck to that. I also organized the coloring book so when Chelsi got there I asked her if she could get all the copies made of that. She's such a good teammate.
While I was back in our storage area I was checking on eBay because I wanted to post some stuff to my Instagram and ended up finding the last color variant of the clock Furby that I don't have. And I made an offer in the person accepted after some back and forth. And so I'm really excited that I won the last wish Furby I have wanted. So that was really cool. I'm still always going to be on the lookout but this is still very exciting.
And today was a lot of fun. The kids were good. At recess we finally got to use the basketball court again we skateboarded and worked on things. And that was nice. I got to sit and talk to Tiffany for a bit. I did fall on the skateboard and ripped my shoe which was annoying. But I hot glued it when we got back inside so it was fine.
We have to push bookbinding till tomorrow because of some printing issues. It just took longer than we thought it would. So I jumped in with the project that we were going to do tomorrow which was beading. Teaching the kids how to attach beads on fabric. When I was in grad school I took that workshop with a Native American girl who taught us how to bead traditionally and so I just adapt that.
We talked about Joyce Scott and Native American beading. The kids told me some stuff that they knew about beating. And then I have them all go sit down and wait to be called up to get their Fabric and their thread and their needle. I told each child that they only got one square of fabric and one needle and if they lost it they would be sitting for the rest of the week. I was very serious about that because our needles are kind of terrible. But we don't have a lot of time. They're all kind of chewed up on the inside of the eye so it's hard to string the embroidery floss through it. I was able to make most of it work but some of the beads which is too small and they wouldn't go over the needles. We figured it out.
They really took to it once we got the needles threaded though. At first I was saying I wasn't going to help them. I just didn't have the wherewithal to try to help every single student. But after 10 minutes of them trying I did go around and help them out. Some of them got it better than others. I switched out needles for better ones and figured out a good system. But I am going to bring in different thread because the embroidery floss is just too much to deal with. It just doesn't want to work with these needles. Hopefully they have better luck tomorrow.
They did work very hard though and they all got a little bit strong. Tomorrow I think because we're going to do a little bit of bookbinding and then we met scrap one of our projects that they can keep sewing next week depending on how well it goes on Wednesday and Thursday. We'll see. I'm not that concerned.
There was one issue because Damon stole Ahmad's needle. And then he threw it across the room. So I took Damon's needle and gave it to Ahmad. And told Damon that he can go find the needle that he threw. He then proceeded to have a hissy fit and I told Chelsi that he's not going on the field trip. It was already a close call because he's barely ever with us anymore. But after that it's just not going to happen.
We cleaned up at the end of the day and with the last 5 I had we play the vocab game. Finished up and went home.
I was able to catch the early bus and looked out because the next one wasn't coming for 40 minutes. I'm at James at Straits and we got drinks and snacks. A lemon and an avocado. And then we biked to his house
Jimenez quesadillas for dinner. And it worked on our puzzle. I'm just not good at it. I get too overwhelmed. But it's fun watching him do it. We cleaned up his apartment a little talked about what furniture is coming to his house and what's going to storage. And then I headed home.
I got back here and fed my cat. Took a shower. Talk to a kid on Instagram about Furbys for an hour. I thought they were just weird but it turns out they're just 13. Kept telling me that he was like an adult. I just kept telling him that you were 13. But he was nice and just wanted to talk about robot toys and that was cool. Seems like a nice kid
I'm going to go brush my teeth now and get ready for bed. Tomorrow is a long day. Have to be at the museum at 8:30 because I have an in the neighborhood and city builders. Another small group so we'll see how it goes. I think it'll be okay but still. Wish me luck. At least it will be cooler.
Sleep well everyone. Good night
Im real tired and my eye has been swollen all day. Its probably allergies but its got me a bit down. Today was a pretty good day regardless.
It was really nice walong up with James this morning. But with my eye bothering me I really didnt want to get out of bed. I did though and went to get ready while James fed sweetpea and packed up his own stuff. Today would be pretty frustrating with him not having a phone. But we would make it work.
We back together about halfway and then he went on his own to steal side and I went to Constellation.
Sean was already there when I got in so he just let me in the building. We had a fairly easy time opening up but no luck on James's phone. I called it a couple more times but now it was going straight to voicemail so it was probably dead. We're both pretty sure I got stolen at this point. But at least we can now move forward and figure something else out.
Dr. Brad, our Civil War Doctor reenactor, brought cakes from Christmas to share with us all. So I had way too much cake today. The sugar helped. I didn't get as much accomplished today with my lesson plans as I would have liked. Sean had me out on the deck basically all day. Which annoyed me because I told him I would like to work on my lesson plans but whatever. I feel like he always puts me on the deck all day.
I did get to start reading the book just got me about American hauntings. And it's really good so far. It's not a scary story book it's a book about why Ghost Story start. I'm looking forward to reading it more.
Maya was our lunch relief today and it was really nice talking to her. It always is. The firing went off really well even if it was a bit early because she'll never does a long talk about the history. But that's all right.
I had a nice lunch over at Johnny Rockets. I got a little annoyed with my waiter because he kept asking if I wanted stuff on my grilled cheese and I just kept telling him I wanted it playing and you just kept asking me. And I was just very tired and it made me upset but then the food came and it was all fine. He was a nice guy.
I gave a tour at 1. Maya apparently had never seen a full tour. Which is crazy because she's been there for months. Or at least it feels like she's been there for months. Regardless though she came on my tour and it was a really really good one. I had a really good crowd. We lost most of them by the end I started with maybe 20 and ended with nine but everyone was really enthusiastic and I was really hitting my points and just had a really good time storytelling. The full tour was about 45 minutes and I'm very proud of myself for how well I did.
My throat hurt pretty bad after that though so Shan left me downstairs for about an hour. I really would have liked more time but I also wanted to do the gun drill at 3 so it's just the way it worked out. I couldn't focus on my lesson plan too much. I did try and I got most of it done. I just have to finish the demos on number 11. I still would like to finish number 12 before we go back on Wednesday.
But what I did work on was figuring out change this phone situation. I had told him to try to call Verizon and put his account on hold just in case someone did have the phone. But every time he tried to call from the chief phone because it's not a Verizon phone the number hung up on him. He could not get through and he was getting more and more upset. I finally even though I was at the desk and we were very busy today I called. The guy on the phone was nice enough to let me keep putting the phone down and not get upset. And I was able to give them the number of the phone James on and they called him. So everything was fine but he was not able to get a replacement he does not have insurance.
So James told me to go to the Verizon store after work today and get him the cheapest most basic Android phone I could. And I was going to do that but then I remembered that you can get unlocked phones on Amazon. And then even better doing a little bit of research you can get just straight used Verizon phones on Amazon. So I ended up finding my phone, an LG G5, for $90. Which is how much I spend one I had to replace my phone with my insurance. So you know this phone is going to have some wear and tear because it's used he's going to have the same phone as me and he pays the same price that I did. I also got him a case. Honestly as you're probably get him a neck strap so that he can't lose it again. But it'll be here on Thursday and he just has to make it through this week without the phone and everything's going to be okay. I don't know what he has to do to activate it but I did make sure that it is a Verizon phone and he should just have to get a new SIM card. So hopefully in the end all of this will be fine and they will be cool about it. We'll see what happens.
I gave my gun drill at 3. Maya watch that one as well and I had like 40 people watched the whole thing. I didn't have as many hands on participants this time. I only got two adults and two kids so that made the Hands-On part very hard but I got everyone to laugh a few times in history was fun and it was a pretty good talk. I had a guy ask me a question trying to stump me later but I gave him the best answer I could even though I didn't actually know. I just told him like with my understanding. But I still felt really good and confident and strong and very smart. Which is why I love that program.
We finished up the day pretty strong. I did get to work on my lesson plans a little bit but we were very busy at the desk so I didn't have as much Focus as I would have liked.
But it was a nice way to end the year. I mean I'll be on Constellation tomorrow night for the actual end-of-the-year but for a full day shift it was a good day.
We finished up and Sean let me leave at 5. Which was good because I was really losing steam. I have been kind of holding it together a lot because James was upset but all it was kind of hitting me at once. I picked up to the grocery store, realized it was closed, and went over to Rite Aid instead. I had stopped at my apartment to grab grocery bag and I bought a whole lot of drinks and stuff to make the pasta salad that I got for Christmas.
There's a crazy line at the store so I kind of just walked around for a while and then I paid and I went home. When I got back here I started working on my pasta salad and then I went and got all of my clothes that are not hanging up in my and put them on the ground. While my water was boiling I started sorting all of the clothing and shoe I get rid of it I keep file. Then when the pasta was cooking I went through and I separate all the sweaters out and all of the other clothes. Then once the pasta was done and I folded all of the keep clothes and put them away. Most of it summer stuff. I also put all the sweaters back in the trunk at the bottom of my bad. But it closes a lot better now so that's nice. I'm really trying to only keep clothing that really makes me happy.
I took a shower and listen to music. And now I'm playing in bed petting sweet pea and I'm looking forward to my pretend day off tomorrow. The last day of the year and me and James are supposed to spend it together. And at 7 we are working the constellation deck party. I'm looking forward to it even though it's going to be an exhausting night. I still hope that's and be fun. It's my first New Year's not in New York in years so it's going to be a little strange. But in a good way.
I hope you all sleep well tonight. Pray that the rain holds off. Or it finishes up before I have to go to work. New Year's won't be as fun if we are all wet.
