Lalapril 4/8: Tether

guest starring my friends wols  Lunya Lanya, Coco Cocoda, Vertical Height/ B’ig Nunh, and Khaljan Malaguld. 

It was a good thing that the cleric’s uniform had such a large hood already, there was no reason for any of their friends to suspect anything more than it was just chilly in the void.

The outfit was a little oversized now but everyone was so busy on other things they wouldn’t notice the outfit dragging on the floor every now and then.

right? 

Babycorn’s vision was a bright white.

“Babycorn pull yourself together!!”

G’raha’s voice was faint. She could barely tell that voice belonged to him. It was just so hard to hear what he was saying. Babycorn looked up to see a blurry mass of red. Though she couldn’t see clearly it was him, she was glad to see a familiar face after her strange vision.

It did make her a little tired though. She closed her eyes and laid back down for a little rest.

“Damn it Babycorn! Now's not time for a nap!!” Lunya’s voice came in as faint as G’raha’s did. Which meant Babycorn didn’t recognize it but it sure made her annoyed to hear it. Which made the journey of losing consciousness that much easier to take.

Whatever was holding Babycorn back from waking up appeared to be having no effect on Cherrypit.

As more and more Doga and Unei clones continued to appear, Cherrypit continued to wave them back with his large claws that had ripped right through his sleeves. He had no idea what was going on or what anyone around him was saying but he knew he had to keep his sister safe at any cost.

“No! NO!!”

At this point Cherrypit heard someone else say something. It sounded like Cid’s voice. He didn’t understand much of what he said, just like always, nothing else was new. And just like before, after Cid said something Nero said something right after him.

Nero said a lot of really big words and he sounded really mean too. Which scared Cherrypit for a bit before he remembered that he needed to be brave and protect him and Babycorn from the danger around them.

Cherrypit noticed some clones attacking Cid and without even thinking, yelled out to them. “Stop!!” Almost out of nowhere B’ig came running to Cid’s aid, helping him up while Vertical watched his back. Thankfully it looked like none of them were hurt.

Cherrypit looked around.All of his friends were doing their best to save everyone. They always did this, he had watched them closely while hiding in Babycorn’s robes. It was only this time that he was finally able to fight alongside them all.

He wanted to help!

However he could!

“Doga!”

Cherrypit looked to where Unei’s voice had come from. She was looking somewhere and it was above her.

Oh right, the giant purple portal in the sky. That had completely slipped Cherrypit’s one-track-mind.

Just as Cherrypit was registering what was happening, Doga was suddenly pulled inside of the portal. Unei held her arm out after him and then the void had its claws around her, pulling her in.

Everything seemed to move so fast. Cherrypit saw people running all over the place, he wasn’t sure what anyone was doing anymore. He knew they were trying to save people, they were probably trying to save Unei and Doga.

And-

“Nero!”

Nero?

Nero was up in the air too! He was going to be taken away just like Doga!

Cherrypit knew Vertical was tall and so was Khaljan but they weren’t tall enough to reach him.

…But he could! He could help!

It didn’t take much work for Cherrypit to jump up to where Nero was. A little wind magic and flapping his sleeves up and down always did the trick. Before anyone knew what was happening, Cherrypit had grabbed onto Nero’s leg with a tight grip.

“Gotcha!” Cherrypit happily cried out.

Nero, who was busy being dragged into the void, looked down to see Cherrypit’s smiling face looking right back at him. A sight he was mostly terrified of given the toddler’s track record. He didn’t know whether he should be more afraid of the void or a two-year-old.

“Hi!”

Nero tried to wiggle his leg free of Cherrypit’s hold first before greeting. Not only to get away from him but also enter the portal to chase after the power that rightfully belonged to him, as he had said himself a few moments earlier.

When it was clear he wasn’t getting free he conceded. “Hello.” Nero greeted him.

However, the void wasn’t going to let him go that easily.

The void’s strength grew and Nero was quickly being pulled in again. Not only that, the void decided it was taking Cherrypit with him.

Cherrypit had leapt before he looked, he didn’t have a plan to get both him and Nero back down safely. So he found himself being pulled in without much resistance.

Lunya noticed what was happening and called out to Cherrypit. Hoping that he would be able to hear her voice and come flying back to her. Just as Babycorn had done back in the Praetorium. 

When Cherrypit didn’t seem to respond it was clear that they needed Babycorn to wake up and Coco turned to go and shake Babycorn awake.

“Wait.” Khaljan put his hand up and pointed at Cherrypit. It was only him left floating in the air now and he had stopped just short of entering the portal and disappearing.

His half-lidded expression was not what someone would expect to see on a baby who was in danger.

“Um…Babycorn…?”

When Coco ran over to Babycorn he expected to find her lying down in the same place. Instead, he found her standing on her feet, her arms behind her, and looking straight up. Her posture was strange, almost as if she was being held up by a string.

Her expression mirrored Cherrypit’s.

‘Me and Cherry are connected! Like with an invisible string!’

G’raha was still on his knee, clutching at his allagan eye. There was not much he could do. Something that was driving him crazy. He noticed Lunya running towards Babycorn, she was shouting something at her.

‘If we’re separated. Something really bad happens…’

Vertical swatted at the air around Babycorn. Hoping that the invisible string that Babycorn talked about was actually something real and tangible.

Coco continued to try and wake Babycorn up despite her eyes being wide open.

‘If we’re pulled apart enough it really starts to hurt.’

Cid wasn't quite sure what was happening. Though it looked like everyone else did.

It made sense. He hadn’t been there when Babycorn had told the scions and her friends what had happened to make her and Cherrypit this way.

If Cid had known, he would have grabbed Cherrypit before he had tried to help Nero in the first place.

‘But we’re really careful about it!’

In just seconds Cherrypit had just about disappeared into the portal. Only a singular sleeve was visible and Babycorn was pulled forward. If she was in any pain she wasn’t showing any signs of it.

‘We’ll never be apart! Right Cherry?’

The thread snapped and Babycorn fell backwards.

It is just as critically important for the Netflix DMC anime to properly portray Vergil (he's going to be there, of course he is) as it is to portray Dante. Their whole shtick is that one is cool by acting uncool and the other is uncool by repeatedly causing mass disasters in an effort to be seen as cool

Dante doesn't smoke. He exclusively eats pizza and ice cream. He gets stabbed twice a week. He unironically says "Woohoo! Yeeha! Watcha!" All the women in his life keep attacking him and then take all of his money, with the exception of Patty, who got rich and decorated Devil May Cry in balloons and ribbons and then stole Dante's ice cream anyway. His nephew kicked him into a statue and impaled him with his own sword when they first met.

Vergil is a grown-ass man running around with a katana cutting down everything but his mommy issues. He loses every fight. He uses hair gel despite not even living in human society. He attacked his dad's enemy to prove he was just as good and they kicked his ass. He made up his own overpowered self-insert devilsona because he kept losing to Dante and then it kicked his ass. His humansona looks like if Kylo Ren googled what emo was. He killed millions of people for a fruit that makes you stronger and then Dante kicked his ass. And then his son kicked his ass. He has never paid child support. He answered Dante's statement of "You cut off your own son's arm for this?" with "My son means nothing to me" and then gets surprised when told that Nero is his son, implying he's cut so many arms off that his son being Nero never even entered his mind. His own doppleganger summon occasionally dances outside of his control, making him die of cringe.

Meanwhile, Nero, left unsupported by both his father and his uncle for most of his life, got out of a cult, married his love, runs a soup kitchen, has a stable job, can actually hire a mechanic to help out, and owns a car, but somehow he's the loser in the family.

everyone talks about "oh what if Percy could bloodbend" but I think there is woeful little discussion about other potentially fucked up big 3 kid powers:

I mean it's already canonical Hades/Pluto kids can just. straight up kill you. Like literally Nico can just tap people on the shoulder and they get Thanos Snapped. Totally fucking dusted. Sometimes bones are left and he just starts controlling that but that seems to be optional. He does it like three times in Tower of Nero.

Not to mention Nico also being able to just rip people's souls out of their still living bodies. Is that a Ghost King thing or a Hades kid thing or a combo from both? Who knows.

All the different ways Big 3 kids can make somebody just. Explode. Zeus* kids can just build up air pressure, Poseidon kids can build up water/blood pressure, and Hades kids can just make your bones splinter and shoot out.

I don't think Zeus kids would be able to mind-control people by controlling electrical impulses BUT they could just send several thousand volts directly through you via touch so like. That's not great.

Bloodbending for Poseidon kids is obvious but Hades kids have SO many options to potentially control people. Puppet their bones? Control their actual literal soul? If you go the route of "shadows are connected to the person" then dragging somebody around by their shadow? Or given that Hades kids are heavily implied to just have nearly all abilities ghosts are said to, there's a decent chance they could Just Straight Up Possess You.

Poseidon kids can control blood (and actually exemplified in canon - seemingly just about any bodily fluid, as Percy makes Achlys start choking on her own tears/snot). They could also theoretically completely dehydrate you in an instant.

Zeus* kids meanwhile can. Make air bubbles in your blood or etc. Which is VERY bad for those of you who are unaware. Hades kids can probably just yoink all the metals out of your blood. Casually revokes your iron privileges. Poseidon kids are just yoinking your blood In General. Etc etc.

And then yknow, the casual natural disasters stuff. Zeus kids making tornados and hurricanes? Plus the aforementioned just throwing massive amounts of electricity around. Probably also able to make dust storms and stuff. Poseidon kids making hurricanes and floods and earthquakes? Or being able to create geysers just wherever they want? Hades kids also being able to make earthquakes or just shatter the ground or create giant ravines and etc. And, yknow, ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE. And aforementioned insta-killing I guess. Bonus Hera kids probably being able to also do tornados and dust storms and etc, possibly moreso than Zeus kids.

*Zeus with an asterisk because wind/air powers actually seem to be more of an Hera/Juno thing and so exclusive to Jason and not Thalia, while Zeus/Jupiter seems to be just the storms/electricity.
