happy steam sale to all, here’s a 'little’ rec list for (primarily) indie games that, in my opinion, isn’t as popular as they deserve to be!
Ghostwire: Tokyo -60% the only triple a game you’ll see on this list, and my own all time personal favourite. if you like anime, japanese history and folklore, and bromance, you will very likely love this game. it also lets you explore Tokyo and pet the dogs! and cats! literally perfect game!!
Iconoclasts -70% i have been shilling this game, at every major steam sale, for pretty much four-five years. before Ghostwire, it was my all time favourite video game. it was in development, by one person, for around eight years. it is still, in my opinion, one of the most gorgeous pieces of pixel art in the whole damn medium. just. please check it out i beg
Angels of Death -40% rpgmaker game that absolutely excels at being a character driven story. it also got an anime adaptation? which i’ve actually never seen?? but if you grew up playing horror rpgmaker games, please do yourself a favour, and check this out. and if you didn’t- check it out anyway! it’s not super scary or anything, with a more psychological horror focus
Owlboy -65% tiny owl boy does his very best and will worm his way into your heart and then crush it because life is maybe a bit too cruel to him. also you can fly! did i mention you can fly??
Pony Island + The Hex -80% did you adore Inscryption? did you like the meta element? then oh boy, should you check out Daniel Mullins’ two former games! they’re good! probably has the same vibe as Inscryption! could not tell you i still have not played that thing! but these are both very good, and absolutely worth every cent
Underhero -70% it’s a bit rough around the edges, but man, this game has so much love put into it, and i think it deserves way more love than it got
My Friend Pedro -75% the action is definitely the high point here, but i have a personal soft spot for the lil’ bit of lore we do get. like, there is something there, and i want to dig my fingers in. also wacky banana is funny
Sayonara Wild Hearts -40% queer girls on motorcycles? in my rhythm game?? it’s more likely than you think!! (also, if you suck at rhythm games: me too, this is still worth picking up)
MO:Astray -50% the fact that seemingly no one on tumblr has played this... despite the fact that it feels like it’d be a right shoe in... criminal. there is a little CREACHUR! LOOK AT IT. IT IS A SLIME!!
The Messenger -75% i legit thought this game was way more popular than it, apparently, is, which i think just speaks volume of my opinion on it. it’s genuinely right up there with Shovel Knight as iconic retro throwbacks- plus! the devs are making THE most gorgeous indie rpgs, apparently set in the same universe. so that is another reason to check it out
This Strange Realm of Mine -90% an extremely weird little game that will likely not be for everyone, or even most people, but that i really liked. considering the price, i don’t really think there’s much to lose on buying this little gem
Darkside Detective -70% funny point & click game with very shipable protagonists! there’s also a ‘second season’ that i have not played (yet), but is very likely absolutely worth getting
Haiku, the Robot -33% it is, rather obviously, not as good as Hollow Knight, but if you’re suffering from ‘waiting for Silksong’, perhaps this little gem will tide you over
Transiruby -30% another small metroidvania! has really pretty pixel art, and is just a fun little time
Flynn, Son of Crimson -50% not what it was promised, but it’s a fun platformer with gorgeous pixel art, and a dog. it’s a good time, and isn’t that what we all want :]
Yomawari: Midnight Shadows -70% a cute horror game, with excellent enemy designs, and a whole town to explore. also the story is so good. i am still absolutely enamoured with this title. this is, technically, the 2nd in a series, but you can play the games standalone, and while i’m sure the 1st is just as good, i’ve only played this one. because priorities (also keep in mind!! that this is a horror game!!! i’d recommend looking up some trigger warnings, because, uh. horror game!)
A Short Hike -35% just an extremely cozy and fun little game. exploring every inch of this island was just such a good time, i still think extremely fondly of this title
Webbed -30% i am gently laying an hand on the shoulder of every bug enthusiastic on this website. you play as a spider. who is trying to get back her boyfriend from a bird. and there’s a really fun swinging mechanic. do you really need anything more?
Garden Story -60% i am once again shocked this game isn’t more popular. what do you mean a cozy adventure game with community restoration, foraging, and some fun combat with a grape protagonist isn’t one of the biggest sellers in cozy gaming spheres. there’s a frog. you can put on different hats. what else do you want!!
Donut County -70% funny little game about making holes and being a chaotic racoon. i have an extremely soft spot for the characters in this, i could not explain it <3
also Oxenfree is not on sale, but it’s cheap, and the sequel is dropping very soon! and you should absolutely check it out! because it’s really REALLY good!!

Games I plan to play in 2023
Take this as a business roadmap for my basic plans on Twitch this coming year. If I dont play or finish these games in 2023, you can use this post as evidence in my court trial.
Ace Attorney 2 & 3
I got really de-motivated to finish these after I lost all my vod footage from when I streamed the first game on Twitch, but I love the first Ace Attorney game and want to at least finish it.
Final Fantasy 7
I've never played a final fantasy game in my life other than 14, which like barely counts its an mmo, but I saw 7 on a steam sale and thought "fuck it I can make content outta that" and bought it. Expect that to be happening very soon!
Persona 5
I only just started this on Twitch and it's been a blast so far. The character designs are great and I love the intrigue the story has created with Joker and his involvement in a crime syndicate?? I don't really know yet but i can't wait to find out in 70 hours of playtime!
Hollow Knight
This game is hard, like I play a lot of simulation and cozy style games, so my skills dont line up super well with a fighter like Hollow Knight. That being said, I'm a stubborn asshole and this game has such beautiful designs and amazing control. I feel that I have to finish it at some point. Will I 100% it before Silksong comes out? Probably not, but I will try!
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor
Something people probably don't realize is that I'm a genuine sci-fi nerd; I've probably seen more sci-fi television than most people my age. I love the first star wars Jedi game, it's story was incredible, and the combat was challenging but still fun and engaging. It gave incredible insight into the universe of Star Wars. When this game was announced at the Game Awards, I screamed and started replaying Fallen Order!
And many more!

outta curiosity, why do you think the bugs are human-y sized? i've seen that portrayal fairly often in fandom, but it never occurred to me during my own playthrough b/c of things like the weapons all being things like "Nails" and "Needles" (plus Cloth's huge fang club) which feel... like they're supposed to /seem/ small, if that makes sense.
Kind of a complicated web of reasons, some in-universe, some out.
The first thing I’m going to say is that I agree with you in that there is something that “feels small” about Hollow Knight’s world. When a friend of mine, @betterbemeta played the game, they spoke a bit about a “microscopic aesthetic” that they chalked to things like the amount of detail in the backgrounds. At the size we’re used to seeing the world, dirt is just dirt. From an insect’s eye view, however, individual grains are visible to a much greater degree.
Tumblr media
This very granular nature fills the world. Nothing has the anonymity of just being dirt- it’s all shells or fossils or bits of stone and sand and glass. Our relationship with the world is intimate. We are shown spaces and the vastness of them looms, daunts. So I don’t for a second resent the impression that the scale of the world “feels small”.
What does bug me, if you’ll pardon the pun, is trying to add humans into this world as some kind of vast upper limit. Because while they wield pins and needles, nails and shears... these are not scavenged objects. This is not Pikmin. The nail is called such, but it is never a nail as we would recognize, designed to be hammered into an object. The bugs of Hallownest mine materials, and forge them into shapes that are engineered and worked artistically. The Nailsmith has spent much of his life obsessively honing his craft.
It feels arrogant, when there is no human presence in the game, to automatically slot us in an imagined supergiant slot that would trivialize the game and everything narratively important about it. It feels even more arrogant to suggest an independent culture that never shows any evidence of being dependent on humans is whimsically plucking our door nails for funny little bug sword duels, rather than that they have a culture of forging and carving their own weapons, tailored to their needs, without “divine inspiration” from anything bigger than it except its gods, which are themselves entities not in the likeness or shape of humans.
For me, I feel like it operates much better to presume Hollow Knight’s world is comparable to Nausicaa’s- it is a land of giants, rather than a land of the diminutive. A world that, if we or creatures like us were walking them, we would walk alongside Ghost, these same roads and highways, and would have this same experience of being dwarfed by the vastness of the space. I feel like if you really want to imagine humans in this world, either explicitly or for a sense of scale- we’d be on the level of the setting’s bugfolk.
Another thing worth noting is that this world is also very alien. Far moreso than, say, Pikmin, a game that does feature tiny aliens on a post-apocalyptic earth, where we can recognize much of the world and its shape even if the creatures now inhabiting it are strange. In Hollow Knight, the world is strange in its beauty and savagery. It’s really not like ours. The larger things get, the weirder they get. There’s almost no indication of mammalian life, or even, besides the bug-people having some recognizable species among them like moths, butterflies, cicadas, bees- creatures that we recognize. God Tamer is either an ant or a cockroach most likely, but her steed was originally conceptualized as a lobster- and it is an eight-eyed, quadrupedal creature with a filter-feeder mouth, large horns, an expanding translucent dewlap and neither claws nor long tail to speak of, so Team Cherry has actively avoided putting “normal creatures” in there.
This setting has a particular logic about creatures. Everything is translated through that lens, so things we would recognize come out distinctly different, and the general thrust is ‘more like a bug’. So to me, that precludes the intrigue of humans, because we have what humans would look like, with concession made to these strange rules.
Tumblr media
They’re the characters we already see and interact with.
I dislike the idea of towering humans, because to me, the sapient bugs of Hallownest so clearly are the humans. I feel like this is a world on a divergent planet. There’s no apes for humans to come from, or monkeys to grow into apes, or even mammals for monkeys to come from- everything is bugs, so the sapient creatures come from bugs. Quirrel, in the prequel comic, even briefly holds a much smaller crawling insect and muses how it and he have similar shells, and, yet, are fundamentally dissimilar creatures. Another narrative could very easily transcribe a similar moment between a human researcher and an orangutan he spots in the bushes.
So this compels me to, in crossover contexts, put the bugs as close to humans. I feel like this is a beautifully constructed and deeply alien world, and there’s so little to gain and so much to carelessly bulldoze by adding in a sense of scale that allows us to just ignore so much of the strangeness and force our own ordinary world over it. I don’t have this problem putting in other giant or strange forces in the setting- I’d be super up to colossal forests of giant trees as a level or scene in a fanwork, for example.
But I guess that’s what turns me off of a lot of things like the bug tank AUs- the humans’ presence and society feels like a way to not just put what’s familiar to us in there, but in such a way that invalidates the refreshing novelty of the world around it. There’s no stated upper limit to Radiance’s powers- there’s nothing she can’t infect merely because it’s too large. So putting her in a glass tank wouldn’t negate her. If it was that easy to stop her, PK wouldn’t be driven to desperation and have committed a staggering amount of esoteric sin on his own children trying to find a way. It immediately undermines character plots and motivations.
Suggesting that the bugs are living borrower-style among humans and making use of their technology, likewise, cheapens the plot of the Nailsmith and his obsession, one that is shared by many, or, in the Silksong demo, Forge-Daughter’s “ancient line and honored role”.
Now, I have seen borrower-style stories and loved them! I was massively obsessed with the movie 9 when it came out, which featured tiny cloth dolls (the largest of them could be held easily in one hand by a human) surviving in an apocalyptic wasteland, and they utilized pieces of human technology cobbled together into ingenious new forms. But the thing about Hollow Knight, is it is not that world. Some weapons are large, almost oversized for their wielders- but they were still built with those wielders in mind, by other bugs, using designs developed by bugs.
Cloth’s club doesn’t really refute this by being a tooth broken from a larger creature, either- the temple of the black egg is made either from, or in the likeness of, the hollowed shell of a truly gargantuan creature.
Tumblr media
This world has some very big things. I feel like thinking of humans as ‘the giants’ in this setting vastly underestimates the world. That somewhere in Cloth’s journey- and somewhere accessible to the kingdoms’ guards that became Husk Guards- there were vast cadavers with teeth that could be harvested is explained handily on its own by the idea that this is a world partially populated by giants- giants that play by the same lovely arthropod sensibilities of the more regular-sized denizens.
Tumblr media
Another exciting thing worth noting is that there are ribs and spines all over this world! If these guys were truly on the scale of ordinary bugs, they wouldn’t need them- their exoskeletons would do all the supporting for them. But these guys are big enough to need at least vestigial endoskeletons. The implications of the remains that we see don’t exactly show us arm or leg bones, but rather intact limb exoskeletons. So these guys would have more complicated organs and more bones, that a bigger creature would need, but something the size of a realistic our-world ant would not.

The Great Weaver
Fantasy Divinity:
There is a plan at work in the universe, everything is part of a complex fabric, a marvelous design which we could never comprehend. Best we can hope for is to gaze at its beauty and give it our own flawed interpretations. The Great Weaver is patient for it is eternal and whatever its plan might be it will see it through no matter what, as such we serve in the best way that we can. Represented as a Spider looking down from its Great Pattern, ever weaving the fate of the universe.
However this is not a blind belief that we have a predetermined destiny, while many do think that there is no real free will in a plan that has been laid out, many don’t see their God as almighty. For The Great Weaver has a plan, yes, a Great Pattern being weaved from the beginning of the universe yet it is not perfect and in our acts we can interfere with it. Followers will work in many ways to see their own interpretation of its plan, be it in subtle or grand forms anyone can, within their possibilities, influence this design.
But of course a being of such a complex nature couldn’t be fully understood by us neither can its existence be locked into one single nature, therefore The Great Weaver can be understood also as a part of many Divine Visions that interweave with each other, every part as important as the other.
The Great Weaver - True Neutral: Not much is to be added here that was not mentioned before. Followers of The Great Weaver do not concern themselves whether or not their Vision of their God is the true one or the first one. Whatever its plan is, they follow through, giving it their own spin and happy to serve The Great Pattern unfolding before them.
The Master of Puppets - Evil: Perhaps the true nature of the world is indeed one of malice and corruption, an uncaring universe which meant us harm and the best we can do is make sure others suffer the worst of it. Everyone fears death, everyone is a coward, truly afraid of the pain this existence might bring us so, ÂżWhat cause could be more noble than to position oneself above the rest? Maybe one can absolve oneself of this torment, or maybe just enjoy as much as possible of the little glimmer of goodness there is, at the expense of the rest of course. Followers of The Master of Puppets prey on the weak, they excel at abusing others, whether individuals or at large. Corrupt politicians, manipulating abusers, they look for the vulnerable and their weakness, be it addiction, poverty, trauma. Power is what they want always through the constant suffering of others.
The Mother of Chaos - Chaotic: Entropy, the result of a closed system unable to interchange energy and matter with the exterior, though one might argue that the existence of other planes proves the populated nature of our universe but, ¿Isn’t there always another layer? ¿Does this really mean that there exists multiple universes or only that our own has many ways to be traversed? Whichever might be, entropy is an inescapable rule here. Chaos at its most, ¿Could there be an order in this? ¿Is this all part of The Great Pattern? Followers of The Mother of Chaos certainly believe so, but not in the way you would think. It’s not that there is a plan per se but that Chaos is the nature of our existence and everything happens whether be for a reason or not, ¿Isn’t it natural for one to accept their place in this chaotic life? Let the chaos lead you and or be a part of it.
The Architect - Lawful: There certainly is a plan, the foundations of our universe have been carefully laid out and planned, every particle has its purpose, a block with a defined use or as others might call it, another brick in the wall. This design has inspired many to believe this to be the true interpretation of The Great Weaver. Followers of The Architect see it all in a more rigid way. There are rules, we might not understand them but they exist and are indeed part of The Great Pattern or as they call it The Grand Design. Lawmakers, enforcers, sometimes teachers, we are all part of a plan and should do our part to see it through.
The Kind Spinner - Good: Also known as The Silksong or The People’s Loom, however it best might suit you and your community. Followers of this Vision of The Great Weaver don’t necessarily believe that The Great Pattern is a benevolent one or that the universe works in tiny uncertain ways to the better of every individual, rather their belief comes from a love of life, a certainty that whatever this existence might bring us, in many cases a lot of suffering, we deserve to live a happy and healthy life. If there is any way in which our actions influence The Great Pattern, ¿Why not help weave a kinder fabric? Building communities, helping your neighbour, seeking for help when needed, fighting for the right cause. We have been given the opportunity to enjoy the marvelous melody that is being played in front of us, ¿Don’t we all deserve to live it at its fullest?
Of course this Visions of The Great Weaver and its work are very fundamental in their understanding of their God and while many ascribe to these points of view, most live their faith in the places where they cross, weaving a more specific pattern.
The Puppeteer - Lawful Evil: Also known as The Architect of Pain, The Anti Leveller, represents inequality, the suppression of the masses by those in power who transform the laws and Estate to their advantage. Whether be by a fundamentally evil belief on oppression and oppressive laws or the desire to gain power using unjust systems followers of The Puppeteer work to maintain a status quo in which those in power stay in power and those vulnerable suffer the most, in fact the more they suffer the better positioned they are. Fascist Dictators, Tyrants, Powerful Aristocrats, all see themselves benefited by this interpretation and many will follow these beliefs, calling themselves Puppeteers.
The Kind Mother - Chaotic Good: A more unhinged interpretation of the Silksong, if you will, not so focused on establishing systems for the betterment of the people but more on pushing the strands of our chaotic existence in a more benevolent way, never staying still and always looking forward. However some followers of this belief that are more politically aligned call her Mother Guillotine, or The Great Leveler, fighting for equality and dismantling oppressive systems made by those in positions of power. Some call themselves Children of The Guillotine, Guillotine Broods or simply Broods, of course decidedly opposed to Puppeteers, leading The Revolution against the unjust.
The Master of Chaos - Chaotic Evil: Also known ad The Mother of Puppets or The Puppet of Chaos, and here names matter, because while followers of this Vision might share a belief that this chaotic universe is not only naturally or systematically harmful to all of us, there are also different ways in which this malevolent entropy affect us, and therefore different ways in which we can contribute to it. Masters of Chaos believe that, as a popular character from a not so popular now series said, “Chaos is a Ladder” and no matter their objectives, which are always the opposite to benign, they will spread chaos to accomplish them. The Children of Chaos work to spawn more chaos, as it's only natural for the universe to be even more chaotic and of course harmful, every pull of the strings is to provide us with more chaotic suffering, hopefully appearing to be pain without rhyme or reason. Puppets of Chaos on the other hand believe that none of us is truly in control, that looking to create more chaos or to manipulate it in any way is foolish or worse hypocritical, instead letting the current of pain to flow, hoping only to either suffer less than the rest but mostly to find their place in this river of malign entropy.
The Builder - Lawful Good: We might never know the origin of our universe, our lives, but we can make our own. Build a better world for all, with just systems and working communities full of individuals that care for each other and work together towards a common goal. Followers of this belief see it that whatever The Grand Design might be we should do our best to make it a good one, for everyone. Fight for what's right and make a better future.
The Weavers: As any being of this incomprehensible existence is looked upon it is only natural for there to be many names for it, people choose names for their Vision that can better express its relation to their own experiences with it, as such there are other names it can be called. The Master Weaver(Neutral Evil), The Weaver of Chaos (Chaotic Neutral), The Stone Weaver(Lawful Neutral), The Kind Weaver(Neutral Good). These are all more nuanced interpretations of the fundamental beliefs explained before where individuals or communities will find their own spin on their faith.
It might sound counterintuitive that different parts of a whole being might oppose one another and have their followers have almost completely opposite beliefs but thinkers of this topic argue that indeed, it couldn’t be any other way. That perhaps these are indeed different beings and not part of one or that whether they are or not does not matter as everyone will have conflicted beliefs and moments in their lives, if not their whole life, in which they oppose themselves. Whatever the Vision be, they all believe in The Great Pattern.
[Some may look at these curious designs and note that, by interpreting The Weaver and its own as a sort of body or fundamental structure then, all these Visions could be seen as its Eight Eyes or its Eight Legs. Weaving, Watching]
Though then again, this could be just one way to look at it, perhaps one or more of them represent its true face.Perhaps they are but each one of its eyes, gazing back at us.

Cyberpunk 2077
Fans have been concerned whether Cyberpunk 2077 would be going down the route of an Epic Store exclusive which has been a trend with a few games recently. In a tweet from the developers themselves this doesn’t seem to be the case.
When a fan reached out to CD Projekt Red via Twitter to ask if they too were going down the exclusive digital store front path, their reply was a short but very effective “Yeaaaaaaaaah….Pass on that”.
Ever since the rdigital store Epic Games was revealed at The Game Awards last year, a few titles have decided to release on Epic Games first rather than Steam or even GOG which is owned by the developer’s parent company. This include titles such as the action-RPG shooter Tom Clancy’s The Division 2, which launches on Epic Games and Uplay next month.
Looking back on previous CD Projekt Red titles such as the The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the game was made available across a number of different platforms including GOG, Origin and Steam. Currently the developer has yet to have any of their games on the Epic Games Store.
Cyberpunk 2077 will release on PC, PS4 and Xbox One with no confirmed release date as of yet.
To read more about this news find it here in Cyberpunk 2077 Won’t Be An Epic Games Store Exclusive.
Kingdom Come Deliverance
T rhe DLC for the highly acclaimed medieval action RPG Kingdom Come Deliverance has been released this week for all platforms. Featuring multiple endings and a cast of new characters to meet on a rambunctious new adventure.
The third DLC Band of Bastards for Warhorse Studios’ Kingdom Come Deliverance, begins with Henry setting off on a new journey to help Sir Radzig Kobyla the leader of the band of mercenaries. His aim is help to settle an ongoing feud between Radzig and a noble family who is trying to encroach upon his position. Of course this adventure has plenty of rivalry, bloodshed and choices to be made.
Combat focuses mainly on skirmishes and duels but newer aspects have been added to the game including stealth missions and new side-quests to explore.
The DLC will take approximately 5 hours to complete and will be accessible once players have completed the Baptism of Fire quest, which is available one third of the way through the Kingdom Come: Deliverance main quest line. The DLC is available now on PC, PS4 and Xbox One for $7.99.
This was not the the only news from developer Warhorse Studios. Marking the 1st anniversary of the release of their title, the developer has found a new home being acquired by THQ Nordic’s wholly owned subsidiary Koch Media.
Kingdom Come Deliverance was released a year ago and has since sold over 2 million copies.

The Outer Worlds
Since its announcement at The Game Awards last year, fans of The Outer Worlds have been anticipating this to be the spiritual successor to the Fallout franchise. In an interview for GameInformer with co-director Tim Cain and Lead designer Charles Staples, we gain more insight into The Outer World’s combat.
Taking a leaf out of the Fallout book, Obsidian brings its own version of the VATS system to upcoming sci-fi RPG The Outer Worlds, however in this game it is known as Tactical Time Dilation (TTD). We also touched upon some of the combat features in our The Outer Worlds: Everything We Know About Fallout’s Spiritual Successor article and video not too long ago.
In the video the Co-Director Tim Cain shares more of a breakdown about the feature and we also get to see some of it in action. Tactical Time Dilation allows players to slow down time in order to line up the perfect shot.
If shooting isn’t your thing, you can always opt for different abilities that help companions by using combat perks. The developers also explains how companion support is a key part of gameplay, as they are introducing a new type of role called Leadership, which means the player will “swap in and out companions to gain access to their skills”.
While the exact release date has not been shared, the title is set to release sometime this year 2019.
To read more about this news find it here in The Outer Worlds Version Of Fallout’s VATS Slows Down Time.
The Division 2
Ubisoft held their private beta last weekend for The Division 2, and will be holding an open beta closer to the launch. The open beta was announced via the official website, it will be on March 1st until March 4th and available across all platforms which includes Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC. This will be your last chance to test out the game before it launches next month. More details are expected to follow soon in terms of exact times for each platform.
The Division 2 follows the events of the The Division, its been some time since the virus outbreak and it’s Washington DC where most of the action takes place. Players will be able to choose their skills and specialise as a Survivalist, Demolitionist or Sharpshooter. As you bring justice back to the streets as The Division where anarchy currently rains supreme.
The Division 2 comes to PS4, Xbox One and PC on March 15th 2019 with the beta coming March 1st until March 4th.
To read more about this news find it here in Ubisoft Announces The Division 2 Open Beta For Early March.
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night
The wait is over to for the release window for Castlevania inspired side-scrolling RPG Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. It was back in August last year when we heard about the delay of it’s original release, however in a Nintendo Direct announcement we learn that the title will be coming out in Summer. While this isn’t the exact date or month, it’s more of a timeline than we had before.
The trailer shows off some of the combat as Igavania makes its return in this gothic action horror. We also get a peek at the crafting system, being able to create weapons from materials you loot or items you dismantle.
The foes are a mixture between mythical creatures, fantasy meets reality including a giant dog head or even a huge cat-like creature with horns that swipes at you. To say the least the visuals are rather trippy with some challenging enemies to best.
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night will launch on PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch in summer 2019.

Final Fantasy 7 & 9
A range of Final Fantasy titles were announced to be coming to the Switch since last year, two of those titles now have a release date.
In a Nintendo Direct we get a release date for the original Final Fantasy VII which will be arriving on the Switch and Xbox One on March 26th. This is the first time that FF7 comes to a Nintendo console. This is a great addition for those who want to relive the game, or for those who are playing for the first time. While we await more details from Tetsuya Nomura about the remake now that he’s wrapped up Kingdom Hearts 3, it’s a great time to delve into the original.
But this isn’t the only Final Fantasy announcement shared in the video, Final Fantasy IX is now available on the Nintendo eShop. Also Windows 10 and Xbox One can  now access FF9 as an anywhere title meaning you can get it both for PC and Xbox with cross platform saves as well.

Hollow Knight
Team Cherry were teasing a new Hollow Knight character The Hornet, but now shared on Valentine’s day that it is a follow up sequel to the massively successful Metroidvania Hollow Knight.
Team Cherry shared on Twitter earlier this week about The Hornet and teased they would be revealing the first look on February 14th which lead us to believe that a new DLC would be revealed on Thursday. However, in a surprise announcement that was shared in a post on their website, a sequel called Hollow Knight: Silksong was unveiled.
While originally the Hornet’s narrative was suppose to be a DLC, Team Cherry quickly realised that it would be too big to be just a chapter and created a game of its own. Hollow Knight: Silksong will be available on Windows, Mac, Linux and Nintendo Switch when it launches.
The sequel will contain over 150 new foes to battle, new kingdom and a new Challenge Silk Soul mode for even more of a challenging experience.
Not only do those who backed the original Kickstarter campaign receive Hollow Knight but you will “be receiving your copy of Hollow Knight: Silksong 100% free” according to the post. No release window has been shared as of yet.

The developers Tokyo RPG Factory behind I Am Setsuna and Lost Sphear have revealed a new title, an action-RPG called Oninaki.
Publisher Square Enix shares the story of Kagachi, a so-called Watcher with the ability to move between the Living World and the Beyond. In a tale where the the Watcher must seek out wandering souls of the dead who are the Lost, to send them on their way onto the next world.
Tokyo RPG Factory are yet to unveil some of the gameplay details, but you can take a look at the released trailer to get a quick overview of what’s to come. The trailer shows what appears to be hack’n’slash action featuring some weapon choices including halberds and swords.
Oninaki will release on Nintendo Switch, PS4 and PC this summer, with more details to follow.

Sekiro
A new trailer has been released for upcoming FromSoftware title Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice featuring General Tenzen Yamauchi.
The latest trailer shows a short reveal of an epic battle between Sekiro and foe General Tenzen Yamauchi of the Ashina clan. The arena in which this fight takes place, is in the court yard of the snow covered Ashina Castle Grounds. The battle only shows us the General getting a few shots in before the trailer ends, but looks like it could be another worthy adversary for the Lone-Wolf, Sekiro.
As we draw nearer to the anticipated release of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, we are slowly gaining new trailers that are revealing more of the narrative and upcoming characters to face. While the title is veering away from a more souls structure, FromSoft fans will be happy to know they are still including elements such as the hub area known as the Dilapidated Temple, and Healing Gourd which acts similarly to Estus Flask used in the Dark Souls series.
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice will be releasing on March 22nd 2019 on Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC. Be sure to check out our Twitch channel as we’ll be streaming it upon release.

I found a version of the Silksong gameplay demo with clean video and audio (nobody talking over it) and, couple of thoughts:
Looks like the French Language version doesn’t have a lot of its text hooked up yet. To that end- it’s surprising how much of the game is nicely intuitable and legible without that.
It somehow didn’t hit me just how much of the Moss Grotto is bones. Where are all of these bones coming from, Pharloom. I am really not liking this implied massacre in your kingdom’s distant history.
Visually, a lot of Pharloom really feels like Ari Gibson doing a little dance of “look what I can do now!”- there’s a lot of small movement. Chains and lanterns sway faintly where in Hollow Knight they’re still objects; there are doors you not merely open with a lever but reopen every time you approach them, and they’ll shut themselves after a bit. It’s really neat to see- and it really lends more to the feeling of Pharloom being a living kingdom, to Hallownest’s uneasy grave.
Holy hell Lace looks like a nasty boss to fight. With the way she chains attacks she can very easily take two masks of damage per hit, and since the official demo presenters never got caught in her ‘pin flurry’ attack I didn’t realize she can just Star Platinum you down two masks. I have a sneaking suspicion that little giggle of hers when she defeats you is going to become memetic once more people are actually getting their hands on this game. Her voice is also a bit lower and more threatening than I was anticipating, and she seems to be tossing off quips / retorts of some kind about as much as she is attacking.
I wonder how they pitched that to Lace’s VA, since IIRC she was part of the fandom of the original. “Hey, we’re super glad to have you! You’re going to ruin Hornet’s tuesday and sound like you’re having the time of your life the entire time.”
It is nothing short of absolutely adorable how Forge-Daughter and Ballow are very clearly having a nice little chat that you interrupt. Even just listening to the voice grunts, it’s clear Ballow’s chattier to her than he is to you, while Forge-Daughter’s rather laconic. Also kinda cute how everybody with the bell helmets (bellmets?) has a metallic echo quality to their voice.
Overall it sounds like the boss themes- both Lace’s theme and what I presume is the generic one that plays for the Moss Mother- have a very strings-ish focus. The main theme of the game seems to have a harp as its primary sound.
Back to Lace- they really are making a point to rub those glowing flies she’s conducting in our faces, since she’s such a difficult boss, and they made sure that every time we go back to rechallenge her, while her dialogue doesn’t repeat, the flies show up again. It really does seem like they at least want us to believe at this point that Lace is the one who saved Hornet- which, so far, I see no reason to doubt (her dialogue- not present here- has her refer to the cage and Hornet “falling from” it when there don’t appear to have been any witnesses to Hornet’s arrival besides the cult members she probably killed when she tore the bridge apart). Which is an interesting stroke of complexity to add to her character right out of the gate- that she’s acting against us but... seemingly, not entirely so?
Also I know I’m a sucker for Princess Bride but, am I gonna have to be the one joking about them having a dynamic like Westley and Inigo Montoya’s first meeting?
Lace “I could toss you a rope, but, I am just waiting around to kill you.” Hornet “That does put a damper on things.”
The sad noise Hornet makes when she goes into the lava hurts my soul. Especially because I know I’m gonna make her make that noise a lot until I get the hang of her platforming vs. Ghost’s. Sorry in advance Hornet.
